We recently held our wedding reception at the Union Street Public House, and we are absolutely blown away by the experience. From the initial inquiry to the final toast, the service provided by the venue and their phenomenal event coordinator, Cheryl, was nothing short of exceptional.
Planning a wedding can be chaotic, but Cheryl's attentiveness made the entire journey incredibly smooth. She was a dream to work with! Her communication skills are top-tier; she was always available to answer our calls, respond to detailed emails promptly, and patiently guide us through the myriad of decisions required for a perfect evening. We always felt informed and prioritized.
On the night of the reception, everything flowed seamlessly from start to finish. The atmosphere at the Public House, nestled right in historic Old Town, was exactly what we envisioned—warm, inviting, and vibrant. The staff were professional and efficient, ensuring every guest felt welcomed and taken care of. Cheryl was present and discreetly managing every detail, meaning my husband and I didn't have to worry about a single thing other than enjoying our celebration.
If you want a beautiful venue in the heart of historic Old Town, with a coordinator who treats your day with immense care and professionalism, Union Street Public House and Cheryl are the perfect choice. They gave us an unforgettable start to our married life!

Maureen Sent on 11/11/2025Fantastic Rehearsal Dinner at Union Street Public House
The night before our wedding, we had a fantastic rehearsal dinner at Union Street Public House in Old Town Alexandria and I highly recommend renting/booking space there for any of your special events. We rented the Grill Room on the second floor and the space is perfect for hosting anywhere between 55 to 100 guests. The Grill Room has dark wood furnishings, warm lighting, and a historic, nautical feel to it. The space provided us our own personal bar and bartender (who was fantastic), plenty of room to mingle over cocktails and appetizers, and tables for a seated dinner for our 55 guests. Cheryl Connors, the Events Specialist, is wonderful to work with and assisted us ahead of time with planning what appetizers, meals, and drink options to provide our guests, along with the table floor plan. During the rehearsal dinner itself, Cheryl and her staff were warm, friendly, and the consummate professionals. The food was excellent, the drinks were graciously served throughout the night, and everyone had a fantastic time. I highly recommend Union Street Public House for a rehearsal dinner or other special event you are hosting. -

Beautiful Venue + Amazing Staff = Perfect Reception
Union Street Public House was the perfect wedding reception venue. Cheryl and her team were amazing. From the very beginning, I had no doubt that Cheryl had everything under control, and she delivered. She is extremely responsive and did a great job answering all my questions in the lead up to our wedding. When we first got to the restaurant, Cheryl whisked us away for some appetizers and wine alone. This was a great moment to catch our breath. As for the dinner, the food and service were fantastic. I am pretty sure every time we put down our glass of wine to dance or speak with someone, we had new perfectly chilled glass offered to us the next moment. There was more than enough room for the tables, DJ, and the dance floor. They took great care of us and our 65 guests. Several weeks later, people are still complimenting the venue and food. Overall, it was a fantastic night thanks to Cheryl and the team at Union Street! -

Cheryl (our event coordinator) did an excellent job of walking us through the process and asking us a number of questions we would not have thought about, but were glad she brought up. She was very organized and clearly this was not her first rodeo.
On the day of the wedding, she did a great job of getting everything set up to the point where we honestly didn't see her that often. Everything just felt like it was running on track (largely due to her helping us detail the itinerary) and provided a huge sense of relief knowing how everything was going to play out.
Would highly recommend as she was very flexible to work with and focused on us celebrating our big day. -

I cannot say enough nice things about the Union Street Public House. We were drawn to the venue for its location--the history of the building was a nice added touch! The brick and nautical theme was very much so our vibe. Cheryl was by far the best part of the Union Street Public House. Her years of experience in the wedding industry and professionalism are unmatched. She continually had our back from the first time we met her throughout the entire reception. She specifically made sure that we took time when we arrived at the venue to be on our own, have some drinks, and grab a few bites to eat prior to making our entrance. The food far surpassed our expectations. Many of our guests commented that it was the best food they have had at a wedding. We also LOVED having our after party at the Whiskey Bar downstairs. It was such a great way to end our evening. One of our favorite parts of having this as our wedding venue is being able to go back to the restaurant/bar for years to come!

There aren't enough words for how wonderful our reception was at USPH! Cheryl and her team are the BEST at what they do, and also just really lovely, friendly, professional people to work with. From the first meeting with Cheryl until the very last second of our party, everything was flawless. Not to mention that our guests raved about the food and drinks (and you can't find better pricing anywhere in this area!)
I can't recommend USPH highly enough. My husband and I wish we could do the entire night all over again, and we wouldn't change a single thing because it was perfect. -

My husband and I planned a smaller wedding (~60 people) and as soon as we met with Cheryl, we knew we wanted USPH to be our reception venue. The fact that she is included as a resource is probably the best part, because she is so, so knowledgeable and good at what she does! Any question you have, Cheryl will have the answer for you, and she was always really quick to respond to any queries.
The venue itself was fabulous, too - the food was delicious, the service amazing, and the space beautiful. I was a bit concerned that the dance floor area wouldn't be large enough for the size of our group, but it accommodated everyone perfectly (and a lot of us were dancers)! We were thrilled with how our reception turned out and highly recommend USPH to anyone who is considering a wedding location in Alexandria.

We loved having our wedding reception at Union Street! We rented out the entire second floor to accommodate our 110 person wedding. From the moment we saw Union Street on Wedding Wire, we loved the vibe and upon meeting with Cheryl we knew we'd be in great hands. She was so wonderful to work with and was quick to reply to any questions or changes I had. She is a top notch event specialist. Our guests raved about the space and the food.

Working with Cheryl from day one was so easy. My husband and I had always dreamed of having a "dinner party" style wedding, and after enquiring with multiple downtown restaurants, USPH took the cake.
In terms of price, they quoted MUCH lower than other restaurants in the area. In terms of value, we feel as if we got what we paid for ten fold.
We chose the Grill Room for our 46 person wedding, and the ambience was perfect. This room is gorgeous as it is, but don't underestimate its ability to be transformed. Our wedding felt dream like.
Cheryl answered my hundreds of emails while planning, always responding promptly. On the day of our wedding, she was amazing, overseeing all decorating in conjunction with our florist, and attending to all the details. She was essentially our day-of-coordinator, keeping us on schedule and putting out little fires so that we could enjoy ourselves. Her value is immeasurable!
The food was amazing and their ability to handle dietary restrictions was fantastic. Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-free, Poultry allergies. Our guests ran the gamut and Cheryl never blinked an eye. We had a kids table and we were able to request a special kids' menu with USPH's delicious french fries, keeping our kids very happy all night long.
In closing, the wedding was perfect and USPH played the biggest role in making this the happiest day of our lives. -
