Class Act and our biggest fan

Union Station weddings make beautiful photos (of course) and you get so many perks! The Ready Room is pretty and the Honeymoon Suite is beautiful. The staff was always willing to help and never tired of our phone calls and emails. The Chef made the most delicious foods, sides, hors d’oeuvres, etc. The presentation of the food was beautiful, cocktails were super tasty too.

The Union Station and our event manager Jessica and the rest of the staff did an amazing job at hosting our wedding reception. The planning process was seamless, and the day-off service was first class. They did a fantastic job taking care of our 130 guests, as well us doting on us, the bride and the groom. I should mention that the venue comes at a premium price, but you absolutely get what you pay for. We didn't have to worry about anything besides bringing in our personalized wedding decorations (like a seating chart, guest book and centerpieces). We had an absolute blast and everything was seamless and perfect, and all the guests left in awe of the venue, the food and the service.

I honestly cannot express how thankful my new husband and I are that we chose Union Station for our big day! First - the building itself is breathtaking with well-preserved architecture that makes you forget this is a hotel. They just completed $20+ million in renovations so everything is up to date and all of the rooms have the same comfort as any newer, high end hotel. Next, the value - we got married on a Friday which was a big cost saver and allowed our guests to use the remainder of the weekend to explore Nashville. So many things are built into the cost - chairs, tables, setup, clean up, wait staff etc. They also provide a separate room for the bridal party to get ready in on the wedding day. It has a private bathroom and kitchen area; I did not even leave the hotel on my wedding day which was so relaxing and kept my stress level WAY down. And finally the staff was amazing every step of the way - Jessica responded to all of my emails timely and never made me feel like I was being difficult. The wait staff and bartenders were spot on, we never had an empty glass at the reception! Also, the food was SOO GOOD - many people told me it was the best wedding food they had ever had!!

We had our ceremony and reception at Union Station. I cannot RAVE about this vendor enough. Our wedding was absolutely perfect. Stunning in every way. Our guests were blown away by the venue - the beauty of it, the staff, the food (was amazing), the drinks - everything. Alicia was amazing and was very attentive during the entire planning process. They REALLY take care of you here. You may think the upfront cost is high, but it includes EVERYTHING - tables, chairs, linens, food for B&G after reception, suite for B&G night of. They let us set a max drink budget which was awesome as well. Best of all, there were zero hidden costs in the final bill. Thank you so much for making our wedding everything we dreamed it would be!!

I loved this venue for our wedding reception. It is a gorgeous venue and the food was amazing. They made sure to have appetizers and our meals waiting for us in our room in case we were hungry. They were very cooperative during my bridal photo shoot. All of the staff was very professional and accomodating except our actual coordinator. Mine was switced because my original coordinator left the organization. I had several meetings with the new coordinator to ensure that she understood everything that was already planned. I met with her two days prior to drop off the linen and decorations and to go over all of the details one last time. The day of the wedding she acted clueless on how things should have been set up and then during dinner, she came up to us to let us know that she was leaving and that one of the waitors can help us with anything we may need. From that point I was the one having to signal to the DJ what was coming next and to ensure we stayed close to the timeline that was established prior to the event. This is not something that a bride should have to worry about when we were paying them a lot of money to do it for us.

We chose Union Station because of its architectural beauty and location. For these things it was tremendous. Our pictures turned out wonderful and it looked amazing. The food was delicious and everyone had a great time. They were good with all the initial items and everything up to the wedding. There were some response issues and problems with the guest room blocks and dates that took much effort on my part to resolve. This venue is quite pricey with many fees that I did not feel they were up front about. I also recommend making any and all changes and requests specifically in writing and hang on to them. We made a request for an update as to when our bar hit a certain $ point. We were never informed and were shocked to get the large bill. When I asked why we werent notified so we could have cut the bar off I was told I never asked for this. We discussed this over the phone with a few other details and this was ignored or forgotten and we were stuck with the bill. We were also charged for parking that we did not authorize. When I asked about the charges I was told by accounting that the event coordinator had told her to "put it on there and see what they say." They did not tell me they had included this just sent the bill. When I specifically asked her why she would say something like this and not notify me she denied it and said it was accountings mistake and they would fix it then argued with me over the bar tab. There were several other billing issues as well that had to be worked out. Overall the wedding was amazing and the event staff were great. The event coordinator was quite an issue.

Beautiful venue, but quality doesn’t match the price

My husband and I recently had our wedding at Union Station, and overall, we had a beautiful day. The lobby and event spaces are stunning, we received many compliments on the appetizers, and most of the hotel staff we interacted with on the wedding day were wonderful. The team also did an excellent job flipping the room from the ceremony to the reception.

Unfortunately, there were several issues that left us disappointed, particularly given the premium price point of the venue.

The biggest issue involved our wedding meals. We had three entrée selections, and despite communicating our selections multiple times through our planner, during planning meetings, and at our tasting, one of the meals was prepared incorrectly on the wedding day. What was most disappointing was not the mistake itself, but the response afterward. Mistakes happen, and we would have been understanding had Union Station taken ownership. Instead, we were told that the kitchen simply prepared what was written on the paperwork they received, and therefore no one had done anything wrong. From a customer’s perspective, that distinction is irrelevant. We contracted with Union Station as a single organization, not separate food-and-beverage and wedding-management teams. If incorrect information made its way to the kitchen, that is still a Union Station issue. Throughout the process, there seemed to be a recurring tendency to shift responsibility between departments rather than take ownership and resolve concerns.

Another concern was staffing. We paid for five bartenders, but there were periods throughout the evening when multiple bartenders were absent. Given the cost of the service, we expected the staffing level we paid for to be maintained throughout the event.

I do want to specifically recognize Brad, the Food & Beverage Director, who was professional and helpful. My frustration is not directed at him personally. Rather, it is with the overall response from Union Station when concerns were raised. Despite the meal error and other issues, no meaningful effort was made to compensate us or make things right.

We were also surprised by the number of additional charges that surfaced after signing the contract. For example, we discovered after booking that the venue’s standard reception chairs were not what we would expect from a luxury wedding venue at this price point. They felt inexpensive and out of place in such a beautiful historic setting, to the point that upgrading them felt less like an optional enhancement and more like a necessity. This resulted in an additional rental charge of approximately $12 per chair, which quickly became a significant unexpected expense. Given the overall cost of hosting a wedding at Union Station, we were surprised that more upscale seating was not included as part of the standard package.

We were also charged $5 per guest welcome bag simply to distribute bags at check-in. While we understand venues charge for services, it often felt like there was a fee attached to every request. What was most frustrating was the response when we questioned some of these charges. We were told that it would have been better to negotiate those items before signing the contract, even when some of the costs were not fully apparent to us until later in the planning process.

We also encountered confusion regarding our suite accommodations. On the wedding day, we learned that we would need to move out of our suite and into a lower-category room while we were in the middle of wedding preparations. When my husband asked about extending the suite for an additional night, he was told by a front desk employee, “Don’t worry about it.” We later discovered the charge was approximately $1,000. Again, it was the lack of clear communication and the constant feeling of being nickel-and-dimed that left a negative impression.

In the end, we had a beautiful wedding, and many aspects of the day were executed well. The venue itself is gorgeous, the food was generally very good, and the event-day staff worked hard to make the celebration a success. However, for a venue at this price point, we expected greater attention to detail, better communication between departments, more transparency around costs, and a stronger commitment to taking ownership when mistakes occurred. The beauty of the venue is undeniable, but the planning experience and post-event customer service fell short of our expectations.
