Honest, Expressive Moments Captured

Anyone with an expensive camera can take a decent staged portrait, but it takes a gifted professional to truly capture the energy of an event. This is where Romulo shines. His eye for creative, candid, and emotion-filled shots is unmatched. Years later I look at our wedding photos and am filled with the joy of that day, not because every detail and hair is perfectly placed, but because you can see just how much fun and love were wrapped up in it. Romulo's photography is honest and expressive. He is an artist in every sense of the word.

Couldn't Ask for Better!

Romulo was everything I wanted in a photographer! Our photos are more beautiful than I could have imagined. I absolutely adore them. My favorite aspect was that he didn't only focus on the bride and groom, but got amazing shots of our family, wedding party, and friends. The candid shots are everything I hoped they would be. He was so easy to work with, and I felt so comfortable during the entire process. If I ever need photos for any other event, I will not hesitate to contact him!

Thoughtful Photographer with Incredible Skill!

Working with Romulo was an absolute pleasure. We came from out of town to do a very particular engagement photo shoot at The House on the Rock in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Initially I had to reschedule last minute because our flight was cancelled - Romulo was reassuring and totally understanding. Once we had rescheduled to the following week, I ended up being late and forgetting to alert staff we would be taking pictures. Romulo never missed a beat - he was there early, was patient, helpful, and incredibly understanding. Neither my fiance nor I had had our pictures taken by a professional photographer before, but Romulo easily calmed our jitters and made us comfortable and confident. He was professional and accommodating every step of the way through the process. Our pictures turned out phenomenally and we received some truly amazing and thoughtful compliments on what are definitely the best photos we've ever had taken of each other together! Beautiful timeless photographs from a professional

When we began looking for a wedding photographer, we saw the portfolios of many photographers that used a ‘dark’ or ‘moody’ style and many others that used an overexposed dreamy style where half the image is washed out. Neither style appealed to us. We didn’t know how to describe (or google for) what we wanted, beyond that we didn’t like those styles and aren’t into posed photographs. After meeting Romulo, his ‘photojournalism’ style was exactly what we were looking for!

As is immediately obvious from looking at the portfolio on his website, Romulo is technically and artistically an excellent photographer. We couldn’t be more pleased with the photos we got from him. They capture the scene as we remember it. He worked in and among the crowd perfectly and some guests even commented that he seemed to be finding great places to shoot from and used lighting creatively.

Romulo was also a delight to work with at every stage of the process. He stayed in touch in case we needed something from him (but did not get in the way). He was okay with some ambiguity about what time we wanted him to arrive (due to our lack of planning). We got our pictures from Romulo electronically very quickly and the high quality digital files (with full printing rights etc) on a USB stick a few days later.

I would recommend Ueda Photography to anyone who wants beautiful timeless photographs!

Artistic photos, amazing photographer!

We worked with Romulo Ueda for both our engagement and wedding photos. He's an amazing photographer! Our officiant had worked with him before and told everyone to "do exactly what Romulo says because he is an artist," and she was correct! His photographic style is photojournalism, meaning you'll get incredible photos that candidly capture the spirit of your event. His photos are dynamic and interesting in a way that I haven't really seen before, which is what really interested us in working with Romulo for our wedding day.

Our engagement photos turned out extremely well, and we were comfortable knowing he'd take excellent photos during our wedding day. We've received many compliments from family and friends on the photos. I'd definitely work with Romulo again for any of my photographer needs in Madison!

Also, Romulo is extremely quick to respond to email and other forms of communication, which is a huge plus when working with any wedding vendor.

Reliving the Moment: Madison's Best Wedding Photographer Beyond Doubt

Romulo Ueda is an absolute pleasure to work with. He is relaxed, friendly, and a perfect professional. Fantastic experience overall, from the first meeting to engagement photo session to recieving the final wedding photos. Engagement session was scheduled for an hour at two different locations and Romulo was able to work magic in that hour and we ended up with a great variety of amazing pictures. Wedding photos went great as well, captured everything we had requested and more including fantastic candid shots of the wedding party, friends, and family as well as the ceremony and reception locations. Romulo has a fantastic eye for event photography and fully captured our wedding, exceeding our expectations in a polite and professional manner. He's a pleasure to work with and we can't recommend him enough!

The most important thing I wanted for my wedding was a good photographer. When I was looking through other photographer's websites after I got engaged, they all seemed mediocre until I was suggested by another Madison photographer to check out Ueda Photography. I could tell a difference right away when I saw Romulo's website. His pictures had a unique view and different way of capturing a moment. I set up a meeting with him and was impressed with his warm personality and the pieces of work he brought to the meeting. I immediately made the decision this was going to be the photographer I was going to hire.

The day of the wedding he was everywhere we wanted him to be and more. He was capturing every moment from the big ones to the small ones. He has a unique ability to capture the whole night in his series of pictures. Multiple guests told me that they would look up and Romulo would be there snapping away.
He checked in with me throughout the night to make sure all the pictures I wanted were taken and had a very quick turn around time to get me my sneak peak picture and all the rest. Investing in your wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions you will make on your big day. You won't regret hiring Romulo!

Wonderful experience - we love our wedding photos and have received many compliments about them truly being a cut above the rest. Provided us precisely with the natural, photojournalistic feel we wanted, worked very discreetly (which put everyone at ease), and no part of the day lacked coverage. What can we say about Romulo that hasn’t already been said? He gave us everything we asked for and more! After my wife met Romulo during a bridal show, she could not stop talking about how beautiful his pictures albums looked. What caught her eye was his style of work. Although some pictures were of couples doing typical wedding poses (as you would expect), many of the pictures were impromptu. This was exactly what we were looking for – a photographer that captures the moment.

What we appreciated the most was that Romulo was very professional throughout the entire wedding planning process. He constantly followed up with us to answer any questions we had, and made us feel at ease if/when we looked nervous. When we received our wedding album, both of our families were thrilled with how well the pictures came out. It was truly a masterpiece that we will treasure. Highly recommend Romulo for any and all important events. You will not be disappointed.

Ueda Photography provides a fantastic service and product. My wife and I hired Romulo tho shoot our wedding this year, and we were blown away by his work. He combines great composition and lighting with an artistic style and unassuming presence. We hardly knew he was there, yet the album he produced suggests he was everywhere. Absolutely wonderful experience. My pictures came out beautifully!!!! The photographers were attentive and went above and beyond for amazing shots. All of my guests commented on how nice and polite the photographers were. I got my pictures back in only 23 days and the packaging the flash drive came in was gorgeous. I would recommend Romulo and his photographers for ANY event. He is truly an artist. I wouldn't ask for one thing to be changed when it came to the pictures. I am so thankful and grateful my amazing day was captured in such a wonderful way. Thank you again. I could never thank you enough.

What can we say about Ueda? Romulo was an amazing photographer who produced images that we will always treasure.

Our first meeting with Romulo was in a coffee shop where he spoke to us for about an hour to get a feeling for the sort of photography we were looking for and was extremely personable and friendly.

On the day, Romulo was amazing at blending in and taking images that look great in colour and black and white. He was very good at communicating set up shots to the wedding party, and the bride/groom, as well as taking impromptu photos whilst the event occurred.

At the end of the night, I had the idea for a photo in the rain and, even though it was almost the end of his shift, Romulo took us outside and set up the scene. He then disappeared into the darkness and was calling out what to do and taking photos. I am sorry for getting you wet Romulo but the photo has brought out the best exclamations of appreciation from our friends and families.

The images were available on a gorgeous wooden pen drive and online. They were also available for web and printing with suitable size differences in the images.

I would recommend Ueda for any event and would love to hire him again in the future. Thank you for being part of our day Romulo.

Ueda Photography was the first wedding vendor we booked- and we are so glad we did! Romulo came highly recommended to us and he did not disappoint. He is a creative professional who captures stunning shots- whether posed or candid. We purposefully did not request many posed shots and when we saw the final photographs from our day, the candid ones were our favorites. Everyone who has seen our photographs has commented on how wonderful they turned out.

We are so happy that we chose Ueda Photography to photograph our wedding. We researched many Madison-area photographers, but it was Romulo’s photojournalistic style that drew us in. We could not be more thrilled with how everything turned out. Romulo did an amazing job of capturing our personalities perfectly. He caught even the smallest moments in such a lovely and unexpected way. Our posed family photos and the candid shots he captured are equally beautiful. We have received countless compliments from wedding guests on not only the final photographs, but also on how amazing Romulo was during the ceremony and reception. He was everywhere, but never in the way.

From a customer service standpoint, our entire experience working with Romulo was fantastic. He responded quickly to emails and phone calls. He listened to all of our ideas and was quick to offer suggestions when we were unsure about how to execute them. We ordered prints and a photo book from Romulo and were thrilled with both the quality and how quickly we received them. The photo book is absolutely gorgeous and is something we will always cherish.

We worked with many quality professionals during the entire wedding process, but Romulo was far and away the best. He was very responsive and easy to work with. We took engagement photos during a blizzard and they turned out spectacularly. On our wedding day, Romulo did a fantastic job of getting beautiful photos with his ninja skills. He had such a good time as the evening went on we had to remind him that his time was already up. Of course, he didn’t mind staying a little later because he was committed to being the best throughout the entire process. When it comes to weddings or photography, I couldn’t recommend anyone else nearly as much as Romulo. Thanks, Romulo. You are amazing.

We chose Ueda Photography based on his photojournalistic style and ability to capture so many moments that could be missed during a big event like a wedding. He was incredibly professional, so lovely and nice to work with, personable, and definitely made everybody feel comfortable. Most of the time, our guests didn't know where he was because he was like a photographing ninja, but we got our photos back and couldn't believe some of the shots he got without our even knowing it. Romulo was respectful of our requests for formal family photos to be taken, and applied his amazing photojournalistic style throughout the rest of the day to capture wonderful moments and memories for us. I would highly recommend him for your wedding day!

Romulo was professional, discreet, and he captured our day perfectly! We had a somewhat aggressive relative who went paparazzi and refused to put her camera away; we were afraid she would get in Romulo's way. He handled the situation gracefully and still managed to snap us astounding pictures. I would hire this man again in a heart beat!

When we met Romulo several months before our wedding we knew immediately that he was the right choice. He was calm, friendly, professional and reassuring at that first meeting; qualities that carried through to our wedding day. We typically aren't a huge fan of the posed family portrait photos, but realized they would be a necessary part of the wedding day. Romulo made that part of the day so painless that we actually enjoyed it! And he was so efficient the portraits that we were done before we even knew it. The real reason we wanted to work with Romulo was for his artistic eye for candid shots. We hardly realized he was there for much of the night as he was in the background snapping away. But when we wanted an impromptu shot with friends or family he was always close by. He subtly took us away at sunset for some beautiful pictures and a nice few moments alone from all the fun chaos on the dance floor. We would highly recommend Romulo to anyone who wants a laid back yet highly talented and professional photographer for their event. Thanks! -Jesse and Dani

My husband and I hired Romulo to shoot our November 2013 wedding in Madison, WI and absolutely could not have been happier with his work. His prices were extraordinarily reasonable, especially in a market where highly sought wedding photographers really charge a lot. At the time we worked with him, his pricing model was hourly which I liked.

At the wedding, he did a great job improvising with us since I did not do a great job of planning the photography sessions. The photos turned out beautiful and were (and continue to be) loved by us and our families. His editing style is classic - not too filter-heavy and pinterest-y which I really like. I would absolutely hire Romulo again for future events.

Amazing photographer! We had to plan our wedding long distance and we were able to Skype with Romulo to get a feel for him and his work. We immediately knew he would be a perfect fit for us. He is so calming and brought a peace to our wedding day. It was wonderful having him there by our sides!

I can't say enough about how amazing Romulo's work is. We had our engagement and wedding photos done by him. We looked online at many area photographers and met with a handful, but none of them seemed quite right. When we found the website for Ueda my husband and I both went silent while looking at his work. I started crying and that was it- we set up a meeting and just really felt great about working with Romulo from the start. All of the photos are done as photojournalism which we knew we wanted.

Our engagement photos were fun- we went to a record store and our favorite restaurant. We are a pretty awkward couple, especially when someone is carrying a camera around, so the fact that there were any adorable shots says a lot.

When we were having our wedding photos done, my husband and I both thought how amazing it was that we didn't even know Romulo was there. I can't say enough about how much I love our photos. He was able to capture some of the sweetest moments, some of the funniest as well. In every picture you can tell- it's us. I would recommend Romulo to anyone and everyone. He is so talented and we couldn't be happier with how our photos turned out!!

He is very nice and professional. He's also flexible with my hectic schedule of the day. We never realized that we're being photographed most of the time. It's awesome. I saw some of our preview pictures and they are great! :)

We hired Romulo after a videochat (we live out of town) confirmed that he was calm and confident - two things we wouldn't be on our wedding day. We were looking for a photographer that could provide lively shots of the reception, and didn't plan to do many shots as a couple. With just us (bride/groom), he gave plenty of instructions and made sure to take enough photos in a variety of places. He was very sweet toward our guests.

Romulo was a joy to work with! He was extremely flexible and open to ideas but also very helpful in providing suggestions and direction when we needed it. I would definitely recommend Ueda Photography!

Wedding-planning is a series of difficult decisions, but there was no decision easier than picking Romulo (Ueda Photography) to document the big day.

Romulo is a true artist with the utmost dedication to his craft. His pictures don't feel like a series of staged images, but rather a collection of beautiful, candid shots, documenting an incredible day. His eye is impeccable, and his ability to be in the right place at the right time is nothing short of amazing.
