I had the pleasure of viewing Ashlyn’s work at a friend’s wedding and knew she was the hair and make up artist for me! Ashlyn completed make up for 9 women on my wedding day and everyone looked phenomenal and we all felt beautiful and confident. All night I received compliments on my make up and my hair. If you’re wondering, “Is hiring a HMUA worth the money?” If her name is Ashlyn Hanson- absolutely yes. -

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Ashlyn and her team! From the very beginning, she stood out because of her attention to detail and the way she personalized everything for me. Rather than taking a cookie-cutter approach, she really studied my facial structure and features to create a look that felt uniquely me.
She was incredibly responsive and took the time to explain her process and products. Her knowledge of her craft is truly impressive; you can tell she has such a deep understanding of both hair and makeup artistry.
On the wedding day, her kind and calm demeanor made such a difference. She brought such a peaceful energy to the morning, which helped all of us stay relaxed and enjoy getting ready. Beyond her talent, she’s just a genuinely kind human being who clearly loves what she does and cares deeply about her clients.

Starting from my initial injury, Ashlyn was incredibly helpful and communicative. Throughout the process, I could always count on quick throughout email responses - which is so helpful when you are managing so much as a bride. With her many years of experience, she will offer you so many helpful tips for prepping your hair and creating your perfect style. I was in awe of my hair after my trial and I did not think it would be possible for me to love it more on wedding day, but I did. Ashlyn came prepared on wedding day and completed 5 bridesmaids’ styles, 3 moms and my bridal hair all while keeping on schedule. Each girl’s hair was beautiful and exactly what they asked for. I used Transformation Artistry for wedding day hair and makeup for myself as the bride and all of my bridesmaids. It was the absolute best experience. Ashlyn is so kind and caring and she truly listens to her clients. I showed her a picture from Pinterest for my trial and she NAILED it. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day - my hair and makeup were perfect. She and Kharis were so sweet and calming while we were all getting ready. Each and every bridesmaid LOVED their hair and makeup. We didn't have to start too early and we were done with plenty of time. Oh my goodness! Where do I even start?! I first discovered Transformations Artistry while browsing Instagram for wedding hair inspiration. All of Ashlyn’s content was so dreamy and romantic! One day, Ashlyn posted that she was looking for a hair model with blonde or highlighted, thick, mid-length hair. At the time, my hair was short, brown, and fine, but I messaged her anyway—and I'm so glad I did! Ashlyn didn't shy away from the challenge, and my hair had never looked so beautiful! (See pics with the white long-sleeve shirt.) Even though I was nervous, Ashlyn put me at ease the moment I walked into her fairytale home studio. It felt like chatting with an old friend while simultaneously being pampered. Had I not already booked a different company, I would have hired Transformation Artistry on the spot for my wedding hair and makeup—no questions asked.
Later, I decided to go to Transformations Artistry again for a winter gala. I arrived at Ashlyn's studio a bit behind schedule, but her calming presence assured me that everything would be fine. She created the prettiest updo in just 15 minutes! Not only did she ensure I made it to my event on time, but I also received compliments all night long. (See the photos in the black dress.)
When it came time for my wedding hair and makeup trials with the studio I had originally hired, my worst nightmare as a bride came true—the trial was awful. It lasted 4+ hours, and the artist was unable to execute either style I wanted. I left feeling defeated, wondering if the styles I chose were too challenging. In a panic, I called Ashlyn, on the verge of tears, and explained what happened. She went out of her way to fit me in for a trial to test the styles I thought were "too challenging." Y'all, Ashlyn was truly my fairy godmother—within 45 minutes, she had completely nailed both styles! I felt so validated and relieved, knowing the problem wasn't with me or my choices. I immediately canceled my services with the other artist and booked Ashlyn for both my rehearsal and wedding day.
Leading up to the wedding day, Ashlyn was prompt and clear in her communication and went above and beyond to ensure I had the best experience from here on out, including sharing educational content like skincare tips to ensure my makeup looked flawless on wedding day. I followed every tip and you’d never be able to tell that I used to have severe acne - my skin has never looked better! I got my rehearsal HMU done at 10 a.m. as our venue was out of town, and both my hair and makeup still looked flawless through a 98-degree rehearsal at 3 p.m. and even after dinner ended at 9 p.m.! What amazes me the most about Ashlyn is how she continually strives to improve her craft. I'm blind in one eye, and it's noticeably smaller than my other eye—a source of insecurity for me. I had shared this with Ashlyn when discussing makeup. On the wedding day, Ashlyn arrived promptly and after chatting for a few minutes, she told me, "I went back and studied the pictures from yesterday to see how I could improve, and I think I've come up with a makeup trick to make the difference less noticeable." I was blown away. I thought my rehearsal makeup was perfect, but Ashlyn's dedication to continuous improvement and her genuine care for me were so evident. It made me feel so incredibly special. I was fortunate to have Ashlyn stay for touch-ups and a quick hairstyle change during the cocktail hour—which was such a blessing because it was hot, and I was sweaty. She breathed new life into my hair, and my reception photos looked so much better because of it!
If you've made it this far in my review, you probably know what I'm going to say—Ashlyn is THE BEST! She is simply unmatched in her talent, professionalism, and genuine care for her clients. With Ashlyn, you are not just another client; you are someone she truly cares about, and it shows in every detail. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a truly exceptional hair and makeup experience! -

Ashlyn and her team were AMAZING on my wedding day. I was referred to Ashlyn from a friend who Ashlyn recently did their wedding hair and make up and they had nothing but good things to say and they were 100% right. From the initial trial to the big day, Ashlyn was professional, attentive, responsive (the quickest responder out of all my vendors) and incredibly talented.
On my wedding day, Ashlyn and her team arrived on time and were fully prepared. There were a total of 10 hair services, 5 make up services, and my bridal hair and make up. Between Ashlyn and her two assistants they were very organized and efficient. I'm sure it was very stressful with that many services during a 5 hour time frame but they didn't show it!
Their work was amazing and held up during the rainy wedding day. My bridesmaids kept saying how good the hair and make up was. Even one of my bridesmaids who has been in many weddings said that this was the first time her hair actually looked like the inspo photo.
As far as my hair and make up it was 11/10. Ashlyn gave me a few tips for my hair at the trial that I implemented and my hair was everything I ever dreamed the day of. I decided to still wear my hair down despite the rain and I'm so grateful Ashlyn was fully supportive of this because in the back of my mind I was very worried it might not hold, but Ashlyn worked wonders. And the make up... insane, she is so talented.
Thank you, Ashlyn, for making me feel beautiful on such a special day. If you're looking for a stress free, hair and make up experience, I highly recommend Transformation Artistry to any bride-to-be! -

Hi all! If you are looking for a makeup / hair artist for your big day or another important event, look no further!! Ashlyn & her team absolutely nailed it. I have never felt more beautiful in my life & I owe a big thank you to Ashlyn for that! My hair & makeup lasted ALL DAY….. in the August heat…. Let me tell you, that says enough about the quality of the work. Through lots of sweat & tears, the makeup didn’t budge. Not to mention, she gave me the most Pam Anderson inspired updo of my DREAMS! I couldn’t have pictured a better hairstyle for me on my big day! All of my bridesmaids & the mothers of the wedding looked equally as beautiful. They were each equally as elated with their wedding day looks as I was. I feel so blessed have crossed paths with Ashlyn & there should be absolutely NO hesitation when it comes to hiring her! I found Ashlyn on Instagram, which is honestly how I found most of my vendors. I looked at several hair and makeup companies in the area- comparing cost, reviews, portfolios, recommendations from friends, etc. but I kept coming back to Transformations. I just knew in my gut that Ashlyn and her team were the vendors for me!
I could not be more thrilled with how everything turned out! Ashlyn is incredibly responsive and always works to educate her brides and clients. She is one of the main reasons I started taking better care of my skin and I could not be more grateful- as that care will continue well beyond the wedding day.
I had the pleasure of working with Ashlyn for a hair and makeup trial, rehearsal dinner hair and makeup, and day-of services. For the trial and rehearsal, I went to her studio. It is very cozy, charming, and perfectly feminine. Ashlyn was always a welcoming hostess. On the day of her team came to our getting ready location and were prompt and ready to go!
Everyone, and I mean everyone, raved about her and her team- from my bridesmaids to the mothers! There were different hair types, textures, lengths, and skin types, etc. At least one of my friends said if she wasn't already married she'd be booking Ashlyn and her team.
They really take the time to understand what you want from your professional look. They ask clarifying questions, educate, and make recommendations. They were quick and friendly, plus our hair and makeup seriously lasted all night long- I have photos from our after-party and it looks like I just had it all done! This was hours later and after a lot of wind.
I would book Transformations Artistry a thousand times over. I am so, so glad I went with my gut. When I think back on the time spent with Ashlyn I get a little emotional because she really was the loveliest. I genuinely hope our paths cross in the future- be it for hair and makeup for a party or event or as friends!

Wonderful! Would hire again
I was blown away by Ashlyn’s professionalism, talent, and kindness. Going into my bridal trial, I felt nervous, but Ashlyn took the time to sit down and talk to me about my preferences, and she chatted with me about what makeup and hair styles would complement my natural features. On the wedding day, Ashlyn was timely and attentive, checking on me as she worked to make sure I felt confident and comfortable. It was SUCH a hot day but at the end of the wedding, despite the dancing and humidity, my hair and makeup still looked and felt great. Brides, I wholeheartedly recommend Ashlyn! Ashlyn did a phenomenal job for my wedding! She is great at taking direction for the styles you like. She also gives tips on how to keep your skin hydrated for the wedding and is great at preparing you for what to expect the morning of your wedding. She documents the hair and make up trial to remember later but also so you can look at those photos and videos later to help you make a decision. She seemed to be one of the more affordable options in the Richmond area as well. I highly recommend her! -

The best of the best - Kind, Flexible, Incredibly Skilled
From very first contact, my experience with Ashlyn was truly the best. She was super responsive, helpful, and clearly very knowledgeable.
I was absolutely thrilled with my trial but, Ashlyn still took the time to talk through even my smallest feedback and discuss any tweaks to make sure everything would be absolutely perfect for my day. She even went as far as sending me a few Instagram videos she had come across in the weeks between my trial and wedding (during busy wedding season time) to show me exactly what she was thinking for the changes we discussed and to make sure we were perfectly on the same page. Talk about going above and beyond and making a bride feel like a valued client!!
On wedding day, Ashlyn and her team delivered in every way. Everyone in my bridal party looked absolutely stunning and across the board no one had ever been happier with any professional hair and makeup experience. My look was absolutely flawless. I even unfortunately had a few last minute schedule changes (typically a stylists worst nightmare!) and they were handled and executed with such grace and poise, you never ever would have known!
This is a whole lot of words to say- book Ashlyn and Transformation Artistry’s for your wedding! I can promise you will not be disappointed. -

Ashlyn is AMAZING and you will not regret booking her. She made me look beautiful with flawless makeup and gorgeous hair. I was an awful client and showed up to my trial without any makeup inspiration. With just a few questions, she got to work. When the reveal happened I figured I’d have to tweak a few things. NOPE! She nailed it perfectly!! When I wanted to make a minor adjustment to my hair for the wedding day, she knew exactly what to do and it turned out amazingly. My hair and makeup also lasted all night, which I think is an amazing feat! Ashlyn is easy to work with and very friendly — we talked Broadway almost the whole time! Follow her Instagram, too, for good tips on how to get ready for your trial and day-off. She is so full of knowledge and readily shares it with you so you can have the best results possible. The Absolute Best!
I could not recommend Ashlyn enough!! She did the wedding hair & make-up for myself, my mother and MIL, and my bridal party of 6 girls. Her and her assistant Megan were incredible! They were so personable and timely, made each person's desired hair and/or makeup vision come to fruition perfectly, and made the whole experience low stress and seamless. My bridal party and I got so many compliments about how beautiful we each looked, and the hair and makeup lasted no problem through the hot, outdoors ceremony, and through all the dancing that followed! And looking through our wedding photos now, I still can't get over how stunning I and all of my ladies look!
Communication was also always clear and timely, and Ashlyn is super thoughtful, thinking of every last detail and even packing me a little care bag before she left with any hair or makeup item that I might need for the rest of the day. Thank you for everything Ashlyn!! -

I cannot say enough good things about Ashlyn. She is an absolute GEM. I was feeling rather anxious on my wedding day and Ashlyn was super accommodating and gentle with me.. so much so that actually getting my hair and makeup done was peaceful and just what I needed to calm my nerves. She even opened the window next to me to get some fresh air flowing through in an effort to help alleviate some of my anxiety. Ashlyn and her team are amazing - they went above and beyond making us feel comfortable and beautiful. As someone who only ever wears concealer and mascara, I was extremely apprehensive about hiring a makeup and hair stylist for my wedding. I reached out to Ashlyn with ideas, and she put me right at ease. When I visited her beautiful home studio for my trial, I had no idea how amazing it could feel being so pampered and having someone truly knowledgeable create a look I only thought possible in my dreams (or on the big screen!). On my wedding day I had 8 of us who needed makeup and hair. Ashlyn looked at each woman’s vision and created it in such detail, everyone was blown away. We all looked and felt amazing! Not only is she an incredible artist, she is also an incredibly genuine and sweet woman. I cannot recommend her enough!

Where do I even begin? The week of my wedding started with the surprise that my hair and makeup team was backing out, leaving me stranded with nobody for my Friday wedding. Having an incredible planning team supporting me, I was able to find Ashlyn on Wednesday and she was a lifesaver, I’m so surprised that she was available because she is top notch, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was booked for the entire year out. Not only was I grateful for her kindness to help me with both hair and makeup services at the last minute, she arrived early, was so nice, down-to-earth, and friendly. Personality aside, she is a true professional at her job and I only had to show her two photos and not only did she make me feel my absolute best, she turned my inspiration photos into something so much more than I could've imagined. I had just met Ashlyn that morning but I could truly feel like I could trust her, and I’m so glad I did. My only regret is not finding her when I first got engaged, but I’m really happy that I found her in the end! If you are even thinking about hiring a hair and makeup team, hire her. I had Transformations Artistry do our hair & makeup for my August 2021 wedding in Lexington, VA. Ashlyn is incredibly talented and brought a talented group of assistants to help her. Everyone, from the bride and the 7 bridesmaids to the MOB, the MOG, and the flower girl, looked beautiful and most importantly, felt comfortable and confident. And even with the summer heat and humidity, the hair and makeup stayed in place and lasted throughout the evening. Ashlyn also has a unique quality that you don't necessarily find with many hair and makeup artists that I would equate to bedside manner in healthcare professionals - she is careful to put the person in the chair at ease and is good about explaining what she is doing, what she is using, and what comes next. I felt stunning, my wedding party looked amazing, and I definitely felt like it was a good investment. Overall, Ashlyn is very talented and I'd recommend her. -

I hired Ashlyn for the hair and makeup at my June 4th 2021 wedding at The Seclusion in Lexington, VA and she was a dream to work with! I showed her photos of what I wanted at my trial and she made a stunning hair and makeup look for my wedding! I absolutely loved the look she created and throughout the planning process her communication was great! Additionally, her team on the wedding day was very professional and when one of the stylists had car trouble and was running late we never even noticed it was a problem because she kept us right on schedule without sacrificing the quality of the work! My hair and makeup lasted all night long and even though I had a full set of extensions in the style was still very comfortable! I can't say enough good things about Ashlyn and her team! Finding someone to do my wedding hair was one of my hardest decisions and I agonized until the last minute over who I should hire. Luckily I found Ashlyn and she was able to fit me into her schedule for our wedding day. I absolutely adore her. My maid of honor came along for my trial and the three of us chatted the entire time. On the day of the wedding, everyone LOVED how their hair turned out and talked about how wonderful and nice the stylists were. I had such a specific idea of how I wanted my hair to look and they absolutely nailed it. They were both so sweet and extremely professional. Ashlyn did my hair and make up for my wedding day. My wedding was in Richmond and I live in La, so she was able to accommodate a trial the night of my rehearsal dinner and I was blown away with her work. I hired Ashlyn to do hair and makeup for my bridal party. She did hair and makeup for 5 women with ages ranging between 30-82 and every single person looked radiant. I am truly impressed at how well my makeup stayed on through some happy tears and a lot of sweat on the dance floor.
I also really appreciated how meticulous Ashlyn was in my hair and makeup trial, taking photos and notes to make sure everything would be perfect for my wedding day. Of all the (many) things that I worried about in the weeks leading up to my wedding, my hair and makeup were never a concern! After my trial with Ashlyn, I was 100% confident that she would do a beautiful job and my hair and makeup would last all night... and they did! Ashlyn is a true artist and has such an incredible gift. She did everything from beachy waves, to Kate Middleton updos, to a dramatic curly side ponytail on my bridal party, applied makeup that looked flawless in photographs and lasted all night in the Virginia heat & humidity, and somehow managed to curl and braid the hair of my charming but squirmy five year old flower girl... all with a smile on her face! Beyond the work that she did, what really elevated my experience working with Ashlyn was the customer service. She is a JOY and clearly cares so much about her brides. I did my trial just before taking my engagement photos, and she took the time to take down my updo and touch up the curls so I could wear it down for those photos. Ashlyn was very responsive, able to work with me on a really short time frame after I had some vendor issues, and to plan around my travel since I was wedding planning from out of state. During my trial she really understood the style I was going for and did such an amazing job on my hair and makeup, it gave me a lot of confidence going into the day of knowing she could pull off what I wanted. On the day of, she came to the hotel with two assistants who were both very sweet and very talented and they all managed to finish a little ahead of schedule. Everyone, bridesmaids and moms, looked amazing and loved their hair and makeup! I also found her rates really reasonable, and her travel charge was far less than I was expecting. -

She made me feel so incredibly gorgeous and worked with me to deliver the most perfect results. Her goal is to make you feel beautiful, and because of this she was SO accommodating! She worked with me to make sure I was comfortable, giving me advice about false eyelashes and lipstick. We were lucky enough to get ready in the bridal suite of the venue, and she made the 2 hour trip to meet us. She also helped us plan out when specific people needed to be at the venue, and with her organizational skills was able to finish our hair and make-up in record time. THE best! Don't hesitate to book her!

I went into my bridal hair/makeup trial not exactly knowing what I wanted done with my hair and only had a few pictures to share to give her an idea of what I liked. She looked at the pictures and created an updo for me that exceeded my expectations, she knew exactly what I wanted without me having to put it into words! She and her team were able to complete hair and makeup for me, my mom, my mother-in-law, and 6 bridesmaids so efficiently. Everyone was so happy with how their hair and makeup turned out.
