  Amazing Food and the Best Service

  I don't even know where to begin with the amazing job Tim and Top Catering have done to make my wedding one of THE MOST memorable days in my entire life!
  
  Let us start at the beginning. Out of all the weddings I have been to, I particularly remember one wedding where the food was outstanding. I asked my friend about their caterer, so that is how we ended up meeting Tim and Top Catering. After our tasting with them, my wife and I were sold. Since food was our NUMBER ONE priority, we went through Top Catering and Tim first, while the venue and everything else followed. Having looked back, that was by far the BEST DECISION we have ever made.
  
  In regards to Tim, I have never seen anyone more gifted, talented, and truly dedicated at their job. It is extremely rare and such a treat to see someone so passionate and dedicated to their craft. Out of all our vendors, Tim was the best vendor by a LANDSLIDE. He was the most responsive, ensured everything went well on our wedding day, and helped us secure the venue, dance floor, uplighting, and so many other things. Finally, having met and spoken to Tim a few times, I can truly attest that he is just a great human being with a genuine soul.
  
  If you are looking for a greater caterer, I am sure you will find plenty. However, if you are looking for the best caterer who will not only provide excellent food for your guests, but do everything in his power to ensure that you will have one of the MOST MEMORABLE days in your entire life, go with Tim and Top Catering.

  Amazing vendor!!!

  TOP Catering was one of the first vendors we knew we had to have. We knew our guests wanted to have Asian food but we couldn't find anything that was good enough down in San Diego so we were so lucky to have found Top Catering!Tim was so incredible throughout the entire process and we were so so so lucky to have him and his team be a part of our day. He responded to our texts and emails even at the oddest hours and always reassured us that everything would be ok! Planning a wedding during Covid times was already rough but it was so reassuring to always know that we had a vendor always on our side. Our guests were so impressed with the presentation and the quality of the food and I can't recommend Top Catering enough! Thank you Tim for everything!!!!

  Amazing Food and Service!

  Just a few days ago, we had an outdoor wedding with 260+ people.
  
  Tim was amazing to work with! Our venue was hesitant to allow caterers to cook onsite, but Tim handled it with them directly. He was professional the whole time and very accommodating to last-minute changes. Also, the way that pricing works is the easiest. With wedding prices shrouded in mystery, I really like that Top Catering is upfront with their menu and pricing.
  
  The food was delicious and our guests were impressed. We are still eating leftovers from our wedding. I really liked the lazy susan with the middle cut out. It saved us a lot on centerpieces, but there is a little bit of room if you choose to have one. The lazy susan made it super convenient for everyone to share food.
  
  We highly recommend Top Catering for your events!

  Above and Beyond!!

  Tim and Top Catering were amazing!!! I cannot sing Tim and his team's praises enough! I just had my wedding this past weekend at Valentine DTLA and Tim and his team were exceptional! The food was sooo good, and there was sooo much of it! Since my husband's family isn't Vietnamese, I wasn't sure what they would think of the food, but I shouldn't have worried because they were blown away! The food was so abundant, that some even joked around waving their napkin saying "I surrender!" The presentation was wonderful, and I was happy as can be with how it all went.
  
  Leading up to the wedding, Tim was fast with his responses, and incredibly helpful with all my questions. He has a strong work ethic, which was clear in his professionalism. Tim also went above and beyond and actually helped save close to $1k for me when I was trying to figure out upgraded rentals. I don't think you can say that about any other wedding vendor out there! Whereas other vendors I sometimes felt were nickel and dime-ing me, I truly felt that Tim not only saved me money, but also gave me the most bang for my buck with how awesome the food turned out.
  
  I also love that the packaging includes, gratuity and rentals in the price. So you have one less worry at the end of the night in figuring out the math.
  
  Thanks, Tim! I only wish I had gotten to eat more of the food!!

  Tim and Top Catering helped us with our DREAM WEDDING at Malibu Rocky Oaks. They were on-point from beginning to end in every single detail. Every single person came up to me to tell me how AMAZING the food was; even before finishing their meals, they wanted to take their food home LOL. My family and friends are SUPER picky and annoying, but all they did was RAVE about the food.
  
  Part 1 -- Choosing Top Catering:
  - I wanted traditional Vietnamese banquet, but with a modern twist and innovation. I got just that, and MORE. I was BLOWN away. The mixture of flavoring and the presentation were extraordinary!
  - I told my parents, and they FREAKED out because they said "If your food is bad from Seafood World or Furiwa, then it's ok, as long as you went with a brand. If you food is bad from another company, everyone would complain".
  - However, I was VERY confident in Tim and Top Catering because of Tim's professionalism and knowledge.
  - So that's how I came to book Tim! I could not have been happier with my choice.
  
  Part 2 -- Months of planning:
  - Malibu Rocky Oaks is one of the most logistically difficult venue in the Los Angeles Area as it is a completely bare venue, and Tim was able to respond to all our questions
  
  Part 3 -- Day of Wedding:
  - Tim came early with extra servers to cook a MIRACULOUS meal. Guests are still raving about the food!
  
  Do not hesitate. Book Top Catering and Tim. I am going to recommend him to everyone who is planning a wedding. I promise, you will not be disappointed. They will exceed your expectations (trust me, I'm incredibly difficult and picky, and I could not have been more impressed!)

  I wish I can give anh Tim more than 5 stars because Top Catering totally deserves it! He was one of my best vendors for the wedding. He was SUPER responsive. He responds to text within seconds! If you ever need anything, anh Tim is only a text away.
  
  Judging from Top Catering's fancy website, I first though that this will be expensive compared to other caterers. But to our surprise, Top Catering's price is reasonable for the food they offer. So no questions asked, I booked our caterer even before I booked our venue because I was afraid Top Catering will be booked on my wedding date.
  
  I was crazy enough to have a tented outdoor wedding in December, but Top Catering managed to keep all the food hot and tasty. At the end of the day, the food was so good that people forgot about the weather. I am talking about a major crowd of old Vietnamese people who like to complain here. But the next day, all I heard were how good the food was or how big the portions were. Our relatives all said that they never had food this good at any wedding. We even had one picky aunt who had to come over to my father-in-law, only at 2nd course, asking which restaurant did we pick. He proudly answered "No restaurant you can get this from, only at our wedding!"
  
  I originally knew that Top's lobster and walnut shrimps are good, but the roasted ducks were some crazy fat ducks that had so much meat I've ever seen in my life! Bride, groom, and bridal party, no matter how busy you will be, you have to sit down and try these 3 dishes!!

  Tim was the one vendor that we saw and interacted with the most. Since we had a nearly 2 year engagement, we were able to space out our deposits and each time that we met up with him, we would sit and talk for a few hours like old friends. He is so funny, down to earth, and easy to get along with.
  
  Let's get to the nitty gritty - THE FOOD!! We've been getting feedback from all of our guests, and everyone was so impressed by the food. Even our hard to please parents (you know the type of parents that refuse to go out to restaurants because they can cook at home better than any restaurant can offer) were impressed.
  
  First of all, the portions are so generous! We received comments that everyone was so full and even got to take home food to enjoy the next day. I swear I saw a lot of our guests walk out with bags of white togo containers (and yes, Top Catering came prepared with togo boxes for our guests!) My brother made Bo Ne for breakfast with the leftover filet mignon, and my mom used the leftover lobster to make Bun Rieu. Say whatttttt?!
  
  Most importantly - the food was DELICIOUS. Everyone enjoyed every dish, from the salad to the soup to the lobster with garlic noodles, the filet (which was tender, moist, and flavorful), to the yummy fried rice and crispy sweet and sour fish filets. One of my guests told me she inhaled all of her food and even went in for seconds and thirds because it was JUST that good and the portions were so big. This made me happy.
  
  Our biggest goal for our wedding was to make sure we offer food so good that our guests would still be talking about it after the event was over. Thanks to Top Catering, our goal was accomplished. All of our guests walked away well-fed.
  
  His staff was well-dressed, attentive, and brought out the food in a timely manner. I've always hated going to weddings where the food took forever to come out. NOT AT OUR WEDDING. The food came out hot and served correctly.

  I had my wedding April 9th in San Diego and it was the best day ever mostly thanks to Top Catering and Tim! For me, food was the #1 priority at my wedding and I knew I had to have a traditional Vietnamese banquet dinner because it's my favorite food to have at weddings (you know you'll never go home hungry). Unfortunately, SD is lacking in good Vietnamese food for weddings unless you go to a restaurant which are not the nicest here.
  
  Not only was all the food delicious from the tasting to the actual day, but Tim was a pleasure to work with. He was always responsive, honest and helpful. He gave us suggestions for venues to hold our reception, helped give me advice when I had a problem with the venue and called me up to offer a discount he happened to be offering his current clients even though I had already signed a contract. I didn't hire a professional wedding planner but Tim kind of acted like one with all the help he gave me. Since my venue wouldn't provide chopsticks or to go boxes so food wouldn't get wasted, Tim provided it all for me which was great!
  
  On my wedding day, Tim provided Lazy Susans with holes in the middle for our centerpieces and had all the food properly plated and delivered to each table. I didn't get to taste all the appetizers but all 9 courses were delicious. I didn't get to try the macaroons either because someone stole all the ones from my sweetheart table and I couldn't get one from any other table. Guess they were too good. With over 200 people at my wedding I didn't expect for everyone to be happy, especially with my mother in law who is a great cook and my very opinionated family. But I have yet to hear anyone complain that they left hungry or unhappy with the food.
  
  I would definitely recommend Top Catering to anyone who is looking for good service and good food. My friend who has been to 2 weddings catered by Top Catering said he would hire them if he ever got married.

  Choosing Top Catering was absolutely the best decision when it came to wedding planning. My husband and I were referred to Tim from my sister-in-law after her wedding where the food was bomb-tastic delicious! Tim was beyond wonderful to work with from helping us find a wedding venue that fit our personality and budget to recommending other vendors such as our day-of coordinator and florist. Tim was the first vendor that we booked throughout the wedding process and we are so thankful that he was! The planning really fell into place from the recommendations he provided with our budget. He was very patient, prompt, and answered all questions and concerns my parents had during the tasting and really worked with us to provide excellent food and service to our wedding guests based on our seating diagram. He was also really flexible to work with; especially as the wedding day got closer and we had a lot of last minute changes/questions/requests. Our guests gave positive feedback stating that both the appetizers and reception food were amazing, and that they were well full after all the courses. It is clear that Top Catering provides only top quality food and service to their clients. My husband and I were fortunate to have a bit of time to eat some of the wedding food during the reception and it was so delicious! The courses we were unable to get to were packed to-go for us and still tasted amazing the day after!! Our wedding cake was included in the package and Van’s Bakery was really helpful in creating the cake we envisioned to have. Thank you so much to Top Catering for providing nothing short of Top Service at our wedding!

  Tim totally nailed it on our wedding on 10/18. Tim and his staff did a great job all night. All of the guests loved the food so thats a huge win in my book. After all, the only two things people remember from every wedding are 1. the food and 2. getting trashed.
  
  My (new!) wife and I really enjoyed working with Tim. We can tell he really cares about the product he puts out and he takes a vested interest in the success of your wedding. Tim updated us regularly on what tasks we needed to get done by when (not just catering related) which really helped keep us on track. We joke that Tim was like our unofficial wedding coordinator. When the day came, I was able to relax and enjoy the night with my Bride.

  We got married at the Newland Barn in Huntington Beach and were worried that we would be stuck with buffet catering which was really disappointing because I always wanted an Asian-style (Chinese/Vietnamese banquet style) wedding. This is further complicated by the fact that the venue is an outdoor venue with a tiny kitchen. Cue Top Catering and Tim - our savior.
  
  He was so communicative, attentive, and helpful. He provided suggestions for other vendors (coordinators, rentals, waitstaff, etc) and even came with me to visit the venue to speak with the groundskeeper. He went above and beyond to make sure that he could set up a mobile kitchen at the venue in order to prepare fresh, hot, and quality food for our 200 guests at a barn wedding.
  
  We have received so many compliments on the food. My husband and I barely got to eat (story of all couples, right?) but the caterer made sure that food was prepared for us and I enjoyed what I did get to eat. We did enjoy the food at our tasting and Tim prepared this tasting for us as if it were the actual wedding day (we had a private room at a hotel and a dedicated waiter).

  Tim is the BEST! I was so worried about finding a good caterer because I'm Vietnamese and didn't want to get married in a traditional restaurant. I was trying to decide between Top Catering and another caterer, and made my decision after once conversation with Tim. He was caring and helped me throughout the entire wedding process. He is so dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and making sure your day is better than you could've imagined. Plus, the food was AMAZING!!! Everything was delicious, and my extremely critical family complimented everything! I'm so thankful to Tim and Top Catering for making my wedding day such a huge success!

  I was referred to Tim from Top Catering after being completely lost after I got engaged, and met some pretty bad Chinese Caterer. The first phone conversation with Tim I knew he was someone I would with to work with. He was very patient and walked me through what I should do and what I wanted. He always answers his phone, text and works well with emails promptly.
  
  Tim's young and Americanized, so he's super easy to work with. I told him my wedding date and he basically took care of everything since, helped me find the perfect venue, everything was booked for my wedding date but he was able to get me the Irvine, Marriott because I wanted to stay close to where my family lives. He did his best to accommodate anything it was that I needed, while answered my texts/emails quickly, always assures me everything will be okay. He was not only my caterer but my go-to source, I felt bad I treated him like he was my personal wedding planner. LOL
  
  When our big day came, Top catering was one of the few vendors that never stressed me out once, they were on top of everything so that I didn't need to worry about anything. I trusted them completely and they totally came though and made my wedding wonderful. I was the bride so I only sampled a couple dishes but it was absolutely delicious! We got endless amount of compliments on the food and the presentation. We had picky eaters at the wedding and they texted me the next day asking who my caterer was because the loved every dish from the appetizers to the strawberry chocolate covered desserts! I can't thank them enough, one of the best vendors to work with!
  
  If you're looking for a family style Caterer, look no farther, Tim from Top catering is more than accomadating and does not nick pick at prices, he'll do his best to accomadate you and make your wedding planning as smooth as possible. I'm so glad I met him and have referred many brides to him since.

  Many thanks to Top Catering and Tim for making my wedding such a great success and memorable. Not only the quality of food was exceptionally beyond our expectations for the price that we paid , but the decorations and the service we received were amazing! Tim is very organized, dedicated and works hard to meet his customers expectations. To these days, we still received endless compliments from our guests on how great the food was. I highly recommend Top Catering to all the couples out there who are looking for quality food with reasonably cheap price and exceptional service.

  Our wedding was earlier this month, and I can say we could not be happier with what we got from Top Catering. When we were first looking for a Chinese cater, we were overwhelmed with the choices of vendors. It was not an easy process, but let me make it easy. Pick Top Catering. Tim has been amazing and went above and beyond my expectations. I asked him dozens of questions prior to booking him, and he had an answer for everything. On top of all of that, he consistently responded so quickly. After our tasting, we were blown away. Everything was just so delicious! We particularly loved the garlic noodles.
  
  Throughout the process from signing the contract to the very end, he was beyond accommodating. Questions were being texted late at night and he would respond immediately with helpful answers. Everything was effortless and no drama with him. The venue had many specific requests but he had no problem accommodating the every request.
  
  My wife have a very picky family. For a wedding, the main attraction is the food and it has to impress. I'm glad to report that everybody raved about all the food and how amazing it tasted. Even the vegetarians loved their meals! I have no shame in admitting when my wife and I got back to our hotel at the end of the night we got changed into PJs and devoured the leftovers from the wedding.

  Dishonest and shady vendor

  RED FLAG!! This vendor will press you to pay upfront in return for free upgrades and rentals and then on the of the wedding he will fail to deliver. Couples please do your research thoroughly especially for a vendor that seems too good to be true. This vendor is shady, dishonest and all the negative things you could think of. My guests were starving, the food was terrible, little, spoiled, nasty. Period. Do don’t trust recommendations, do you research please!

  We had to take him to small claims COURT - and we WON. That should tell you what you need to know about him. Don't let him ruin your special day.

  !! Caution !! Please research and read other yelp reviews.

  Let me tell you about our experience with Tim and Top Catering.
  They were listed on our preferred vendors list for our wedding venue. We also had a few friends that used Top Catering for their weddings and they said they had a good experience with Tim a few years back. It was his reputation with our friends and the community that we went with him and trusted he would come through. We should have read recent reviews on yelp and other sites that would have warned us of the same money and quality issues that surround this business in its current state.
  
  After the initial deposit, Tim would almost text me daily, trying to offer incentives and upgrades in exchange for us to pay more of the balance upfront. He clearly needed the money and I found this concerning. To ease my mind, I talked to my friends that used him and they vouched that they had a great experience with no issues. So it was with that trust that we ended up paying the full balance plus an additional amount for tables that we thought we might need. It was agreed upon that any unused tables would be reimbursed, which was 2 unused tables. We followed all timelines of communication. $2330 is the refund amount.
  4/29/23 was our wedding and as of today have not received my refund. I have sent a demand letter for the refund and now in the PROCESS OF FILING SMALL CLAIMS after multiple attempts of Tim promising to pay. I can't believe it is actually getting to this point! This pisses me off the most because now it's not just about money, but the time I am wasting actually having to do this. I've been graceful and allowed him time to get me the refund after he admitted that he's having financial troubles.
  
  He didn't deliver on all the upgrades as promised either!
  He promised a peking duck upgrade, but we only got the regular.
  He didn't provide all the hors d'oeuvres that we agreed to.
  He didn't provide knives for the tables!
  His team didn't serve sodas as promised!
  Quality of the food from other weddings I attended of his to our wedding has dropped tremendously. Feedback from our attendees stated the same.
  
  We didn't mind some of the mishaps of service. We understand things happen. Food quality maybe wasn't the best, but people were fed and full. We are very reasonable people, but we followed our end of the bargain, paid on time and early. We expect the same in return. I am very disappointed that we have to beg, plead, demand and sue to try to get our money back! Tim even tried to have me sign a paper saying I couldn't write anything bad about their business in return for my money back!
  
  Top Catering may have been an upstanding family business at one point, but clearly Tim has tarnished its reputation.
  
  Weddings are supposed to be happy times. We shouldn't have to dealing with these things. Make it right Tim.

  Pushy, unprofessional, bad food quality

  He was recommended by Marriott Anaheim due to ,he is the only Chinese asian caterer allowed to use the kitchen to have fresh food made at the hotel and the hotel didn’t charge extra fees for outside catering bought to the hotel. He was not cheap but we got the venue and the type of food. So when making payments he would try to pressure you to pay early and maybe he will throw in a discount or decorations. At times it would put us in a bind due to other expenses for the wedding. When is comes to the food tasting he only does four item from the 8 course menu. The food was good and our parents were ok with it. We two different menus due the dietary and we only sample one. We were suppose to sample the other menu but he said he couldn’t do it and the food was the same. Red flag. Day of the wedding reception, the food was Luke warm at best, stale food, dry, and under cooked vegetables. Our family are hard core Chinese Asian cuisine people, and they all complained about the food saying it was horrible and worse than other Chinese restaurants. This hurt us a lot as we told him food is the main focus. Couple days after we contacted him about the issues of the food and other problems he denied all of our complaints and said it was fine. The food that we had during the tasting was totally different like night and day. In our contract it said coffee and tea station and we didn’t get it. Instead they said it had to be requested. That right there was already a breach of contract and he argued that they provided it. He will try to deny any of your claims. Still to this day he has not paid us back for our overpayment. He is stealing our money. Do not do business with this person.
