Gizelda was amazing and absolutely professional. My spouse and I are PCSing soon and we needed to have a quick elopement before going overseas. Very Personal and Quite Remarkable
We are from Canada and wanted to visit New Orleans during Mardi Gras… As we are both over 40 years old and previously were married and have been together over 7 years,,, we got an idea of eloped wedding,, just two of us go somewhere we have never been before and get secretly married.
We contacted Gizelda and we had outstanding experience. Gizelda was incredibly personal, even we had unusual request to get married on the street of New Orleans. Gizelda patiently was answering all our thousand questions and helped us to figure out what worked the best for us. Jackson Square, in front of St. Louis Cathedral in the heart if New Orleans was a most stunning choice.
I will definitely recommend Gizelda. I believe Gizelda is putting a heart in what she does.

A Dream Come True
Words cannot express my gratitude. Our wedding was initially planned for Charleston, SC then Dorian hit and everything was canceled. It was VERY important to us to keep our date and the officiant was so responsive and helpful.

No Worries on Your Wedding Day!
45 days before my wedding, I contacted Ms. Toomer to see if she could officiant my wedding since my pastor was unable to travel due to Covid. She quickly responded to my inquiry on the Wedding Wire website. Due to the gathering restrictions in NOLA, I was unsure of my wedding details, but I knew I wanted to keep the wedding date. After speaking with her on the phone, I decided to move forward with booking her to hold the date because she was pleasant and professional. She answered all 30 of my questions. She also made me feel like I had known her for years. She already had one wedding on that date an hour before mines, but she stated that we would make it work or she would refund me. Well, other unforeseen events took place which made me and my fiancé decide to just elope on our wedding date. I contacted her again letting her know our change of plans, and she immediately responded. She was extremely understanding, and she stood by her word of refunding me my money back. I would definitely recommend her to anyone that is getting married. She definitely puts your mind at ease!

We were a wayward couple with no plan, no witnesses, and could not even find the venue. Gizelda and her family found us, directed us, and created a very special ceremony/memory. Amazing officiant
We are so happy we chose Gizelda as our officiant because she went above and beyond for us on our wedding day! It was very important for us to hire a Black woman, and we couldn’t be happier to find Gizelda. She was very detailed and responsive, which made us feel at ease throughout the planning process. She was always prompt and made sure that she was a part of every moment necessary.
We had a major issue the morning of our wedding when the hotel staff mistakenly discarded our marriage application and you can imagine - It was very very tense and stressful. But remained calm and assured us that she would make sure that we would get things fixed. She helped us every step of the way and we couldn’t be more appreciative for all of her work and her kindness. Our family all commented on how nice she was, and it was great to see her talking and connecting with our family and friends. we would definitely recommend her and certainly hire her again, and again!

Ms Toomer was Great! She was prompt, efficient. and just overall exactly what you want in an officiant. We came from out of town and the process was very easy. She even gave us gifts after the wedding. Would 100% recommend!

My husband and I decided to elope to the Nola. We had 3 weeks to plan and limited funds. I talked to a few officiants and located several venues and decided to go with Mrs G. At first because of the most reasonable price but later the vibes she gave and her professionalism and aslo being black owned in a city with so much history. When my groom and I made it to New Orleans and got a chance to explore the city we realized our location was not going to work so at the last minute which I think the day of our wedding we switched the location to her office. She had everything set up so beautiful! Our ceremony was small and intimate and I truly felt like a princess for the day thanks to Mrs G amd family! You truly went out of your way to make our day very special and memorable and I sincerely thank you!

Very flexible & understanding

Absolutely Perfect in Every Way!
Ms. Toomer was amazing. From start to finish she was kind and professional. I grew up in the area but moved to California two years ago. My wife and I knew we wanted to have a destination wedding back in New Orleans and we are so glad we found Gizelda! Her ceremony was perfect and we could not recommend her highly enough!

Wedding ceremony review
Grizellda did an amazing job at our ceremony. We had a non denominational wedding, but she still was able to make it so sweet and meaningful. She was even kind enough to bring us a gift to share at our wedding. Highly recommend!

Gizelda was responsive, flexible and very welcoming. When I first called her to schedule a time and date, I can hear her pulling out the calendar to tell me her availability. We wanted to do it the next day and she actually found the time to fit me into her busy schedule. Unfortunately, I was unable to proceed with that day and had to reschedule so the time I rescheduled for was available.
She responded to all my emails in a timely manner. She informed me about everything I needed to know so I didn’t have to ask any questions.
She welcomed us into her home where she had the ceremonial area set up and REALLY nice. We loved everything. The ceremony was short, sweet and intimate. Just what we asked for.
The price is reasonable and I would definitely recommend booking with her.

Toomer's provided a very nice and elegant space for my SURPRISE wedding. She was very understanding of me wanting to keep my surprise. She helped me to understand all of the guidelines before we arrived in New Orleans for Mardi Gras. She sent me information through email for my approval every step of the way. The space she used was elegant and perfect for a small ceremony. She helped with photography and provided us with a nice wedding gift. I highly recommend using her for your officiant.

The best officiant in New Orleans
Ms. Toomer was very professional throughout our entire wedding prep and ceremony, she walked us through getting the marriage license all the way up to saying I do! Price was great for the ceremony which included a sand ceremony! After the ceremony she hung around for a bit, and even gave us a gift basket, with wine, Mrs & Mrs face mask, coasters, a praline, etc! She treated us as family! I would 100% recommend her to anyone getting married in the New Orleans area! Thanks so much Ms. Toomer

An Amazing Officiant
Gizelda Toomer was such an amazing officiant!
She was open to all of our questions before the wedding, reached out about a month prior and then 5 day before the wedding with some information. She showed up to the wedding at the right time and checked in with our planner. Her professionalism and mannerism were much appreciated on our hectic day. We were a little worried since we were coming to New Orleans as an out of state couple and didn't formally meet Ms. Toomer in person but she was definitely the right fit for our wedding.
Although my husband and I were basically fascinated by each other during the whole wedding, we did hear everything that was explained and she did a very thorough job of explaining the meaning behind what was going on such as sharing our own vows, our sand ceremony, and jumping the broom. We received many compliments from our guest on Ms. Toomer. She also took some beautiful photos of my husband and I after the wedding (I wish we got more photos with her though to post to this review).
Also, we were very appreciative of the amazing wedding gift she gave us as well. If you are searching for an officiant, Gizelda Toomer is absolutely amazing, we HIGHLY recommend her. Thank you!

Awesome wedding officiant! We had a surprised 70s Themed wedding. She made the ceremony’s so smooth and welcoming. It was also my 40th birthday, but the sweetest thing was it was her birthday as well, and she still made time to be a part of my event.

Amazing wedding officant
We had to hold our wedding in the difficult period of the pandemic. It was a simple ceremony held on our porch with social distancing guidelines. We are so glad we had Gizelda as our officiant in these difficult circumstances. She had such a kind and strong presence and made everything easier. The vows she prepared were beautiful. I strongly recommend her!

Gracious and informative
We absolutely enjoyed having Ms Toomer officiate our ceremony! Planning our wedding 2,000 miles from the venue was seamless and fun, thanks to the great team of vendors including Ms. Toomer. The morning after we landed, Ms. Toomer met us for brunch and went over the required paperwork as well as guidelines for obtaining the marriage certificate. The day of the weedding, she was prompt and eloqent.
