We had our wedding early October, and we had a great experience working with Tom & Heather and their team. They were so thoughtful and nice and helped us feel at ease the whole day. After getting back the pictures from the day, they did such an incredible job, and the photos are beautiful. Tom was so thoughtful and relax and captured all the photos and moments that we asked him for and many more that we didn’t even know were going to happen! We added the video package and some of those clips are so great! I love the interactive display they created for us to help us relive the day and small special moments over and over again. I highly recommend Tom & his team! -

If we had to describe Tom in one word it would be phenomenal. Tom is an exceptional photographer who has a remarkable ability to capture some of the most magical moments in our lives. He goes above and beyond the role of a wedding photographer, providing unwavering support from the beginning to the end of the process. Not only did Tom shoot our wedding, but he also captured our engagement photos and even my sister's wedding ( almost 6 years ago)!
To be honest, just thinking about the way Tom and Heather captured our wedding brings tears to our eyes. It may sound cheesy, but the experience with Tom was truly life-changing. From the moment we met him, he brought a sense of calm and comfort that made us feel at ease. He took the time to understand our vision and made sure to capture every detail that was important to us.
During the wedding day, Tom's precision and talent were out of this world. He knew exactly how to let us stay in the moment, soaking up every ounce of our love. He also knew how to position us when necessary and use lighting to create the most breathtaking images. He has an incredible eye for capturing emotions and candid moments that truly tell the story of the day. Looking through our wedding photos, we are transported back to that special day, reliving all the joy and love we felt.

One of the best decisions I made on my wedding day (aside from marrying my husband, of course) was getting to work with Tom Schelling Photography.
I remember searching for wedding photographers online and feeling exhausted as they all seemed to blend together. When I saw Tom's websites, I immediately perked up – I loved how his photos truly captured who these couples were, whether in small intimate moments or pictures which captured their sense of humor. I was so excited when Tom said he was available to shoot our wedding!
Not only is Tom Schelling an incredible photographer, but he has a truly calming energy. In the lead-up to our wedding, we had numerous conversations where he helped with everything from advice on how to find small moments amidst the hecticness, to helping us plan a schedule for the day itself, to working alongside our other vendors to make sure we had enough time for all photos before the wedding started without ever feeling rushed. Tom was always available to answer all of my last-minute questions, and it truly was a joy to have those initial planning meetings with him.
On the day of our wedding, Tom and his incredible wife Heather arrived early, and from the beginning thought of so many photo ideas beyond what we had planned before. Tom and Heather have such a beautiful eye for detail. I LOVE our photos. They made our family and friends truly relaxed, cracked jokes, and added to the overall happiness of the day. Our pictures truly capture our wedding and our family and our friends in moments big and small throughout the day. Tom would snatch us away throughout the night to sneak off and take photos which took full advantage of the environment. One photo comes to mind: my husband and I on the rooftop of our venue in downtown New York with the pink sun setting behind us.
That shot– and a hundred more which felt off-the-cuff– were planned beforehand. I feel so fortunate because those ended up being some of my favorite of the night.
I would encourage you 100% to work with Tom Schelling Photography. We are so glad that we did!

He was a dream!
I don’t know where to start with him. Having a wedding while also being in the events industry for work made choosing Tom as our photographer an easy yes. It was easily the best decision we made for vendors. He is someone I will confidently send our clients to for the rest of time. I first searched through every bridal group looking for a photographer that “made photos look like they were the day on pause, as if they could move in an instance” that meant clear, clean, and real to me! I didn’t want over edits even though I do love everyone’s unique stylistic choices. As far as his craft goes, he does just that! Everything felt so organic and real with him. The photos capture all the happy, And all the special that the day brought. We had been married over a year already on our wedding day, so we feared that it wouldn’t feel as special. But Tom helped us to ease that fear! Honestly, I’m in awe of him. He made everything so special. From the very first meeting, everything he did was intentional and thoughtful. He surprised us, romanticized our wedding and wedding planning experience. He fit seamlessly in the day with us, which was so important to us from the very beginning. I don’t want to ruin all the little surprises that he tucks into your experience with him, but just know that you can absolutely trust him. He will enhance that day and your experience. He is an expert and is 100% worth every dollar spent to have him there. He will feel like a friend attending, while also bringing his expertise with him. My husband and I don’t love being in front of the camera, but we never felt like we were with Tom. The pictures made us both laugh hysterically and cry hysterically. Okay now the sad part… our doggy was at our wedding, but she was sick with congestive heart failure. She had the best day, and it actually was her last really good day. Tom captured her in her prime. By the time the pictures arrived, we had lost her. She was our best pal. The pictures Tom took are our favorite. They healed our broken hearts a little bit. Just trust him. He was the BEST pick. -

The best of the best
My husband and I are incredibly grateful to have worked with Tom for our wedding. Choosing vendors is always a challenging process but right from our initial conversation, we knew we were in great hands. Even before we hired him, Tom took the time to walk us through his process and discuss our vision to ensure we were mutually aligned. There was never any pressure and we just clicked immediately which is how you should feel when selecting the people to be around you on your big day.
While the initial zoom calls were helpful - it was only the beginning as far as building a working relationship was concerned. Our engagement shoot was so much fun and gave us the chance to really get to know one another. Just like Tom had told us, having the chance to get to know your photographer beforehand helped alleviate the inevitable nerves on the big day. On top of all that, the pictures came out incredible and we couldn’t have been more excited imagining how beautiful they would be from the main event.
Tom is a true professional and his calm demeanor put us at ease. He felt more like a friend who truly wanted to help guide us along each step of the way. He made himself available whenever we had a question or concern and constantly provided us with incredibly valuable insights drawn from a clear wealth of knowledge and experience. Tom is proactive and sent so much material to help with planning & logistics – something that every bride can and will appreciate during the hectic months before!
On the day of our wedding, Tom was absolutely amazing. He provided that overall sense of comfort, having built such a strong relationship already. All of which inevitably translated into a much more natural environment that led to amazing pictures and video. He’s a true artist in every sense of the word and beautifully captured each element of the day. As we look back on the pictures now (of which we received in a very timely manner!), we truly feel transported back to the day and that the pictures showcase and depict the feelings of these incredibly special moments. Our friends and family shared all the same levels of comfort with Tom and are still complimenting us on not only our selection for a perfect photographer but on how gorgeous the pictures turned out. We really can’t say enough good things about Tom (+ Heather and Amara who we’d be remiss not to mention how great they were as well!!) and would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

We have no shortage of amazing things to say about Tom. From the moment we saw his photos online and on Instagram, he immediately stood out to us. You can feel the emotion and passion in his photos. When we reached for more information after coming across his work, he asked to schedule time to get to know us. We did, and Tom spent an entire hour with us on Zoom (without any commitment to hire him) and invited us to ask him questions and he asked some of us too – how we met, what we loved about each other, what will be most important to us on our wedding day. Tom also stressed that he wanted to make sure that we liked each other’s vibes because we would be spending A LOT of time together on the day of our wedding. For anyone booking a photographer for their wedding, you do spend a lot of time with your photographer, so – Tom was right – it is SO crucial that you like your photographer, and they like you. I can tell you that we didn’t just like Tom… we loved him! By the end of the journey leading up to our wedding, he and Heather felt like old friends.
Now for two people who (1) have never had professional photos taken of them, (2) didn’t want to do hours and hours of ‘posing’ and (3) wanted to maximize time with each other and friends and family – I promise you that Tom and Heather make that all possible. They are a calming presence, yet also so quick and efficient. They give helpful direction, but don’t make you feel awkward. They are your biggest cheerleaders and supporters – making you feel beautiful/handsome and most importantly comfortable! After a short session of more traditional portraits (at our request) and family and friend photos, Tom and Heather worked their magic – they allowed us to enjoy every moment of our wedding day and captured the most amazing photos and video (more often than not without us noticing). Tom thought of everything! He was so prepared, despite never stepping foot at our venue, and captured the day perfectly.
From the lead-up, to the day of, and then all the way past the wedding (delivering the most amazing photos and beautiful wedding album) Tom was there for us. It was amazing getting to know Tom in the lead-up during our phone and Zoom calls as well as during our engagement session (which was really helpful) – even if you don’t think of yourselves as ‘engagement photos’ people, you NEED to do it! The photos came out great, and it was a really cool opportunity for us to get comfortable in front of a professional camera and with Tom. Engagement sessions also help develop that trust – if you’re unsure or insecure about something, you learn that Tom 1000% has your back. It allowed us to just have fun the day of our wedding and not stress about how we look or how the photos will come out. It also really helped the day of our wedding feel fun and light, and it was really cool to see Tom and Heather in their element – they got along so well with us, with our wedding party and our family – and the pictures came out SO beautiful!
If you’re looking for someone to trust with timeless memories, choose Tom. I promise you won’t regret it. He and Heather will make you feel like the best versions of yourselves – and you will look and feel amazing through it all! -

Tom is the best!
Can't say enough good things about our experience with Tom and our beautiful wedding photos! Not only do our photos capture the day but Tom is a true artist, and his photos are unique, airy, and exactly what we were looking for.
Beyond being an incredible artist and photographer, he genuinely cares about each couple he works with. My husband and I are very uncomfortable in front of the camera so finding a photographer was hard for us. From the initial phone call on, Tom put us at ease. He understood what we were looking for and did an incredible job capturing our wedding day. He was also able to seamlessly fit into our day and navigate family members, etc.
After the wedding we also worked with Tom to create a wedding album and his eye for laying this out and easy to work with nature persisted. We have so many incredible photos that we will treasure! Thank you Tom for such a great experience!! -

We read through some of the other reviews and nothing has been exaggerated. Tom really is that good. If you are lucky enough that he is available on your wedding date, book him.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. It was a joy working with Tom. When we were initially looking for a photographer, it was overwhelming because essentially we were about to give some stranger a lot of money and put a ton of trust in them. Tom straight up neutralized our anxiety in that regard. Right away we were struck by his approachability and the fact that he put ZERO pressure on us. From our very first video chat, he was remarkably patient, supportive and empathetic, and he remained that way through the day of our wedding. And on that day in particular, we didn’t anticipate needing a person like that but man are we glad we had Tom to help level our heads from all the craziness. His calm and reassuring attitude was an oasis. It was such a relief to be able to have complete trust in him that day.
If you’re considering Tom to be your photographer, know that in addition to all of the above, his communication with us and his responsiveness to our questions/concerns was exceptional. We were happily surprised by the amount of times he was the one who took initiative and reached out to us. Throughout every stage of the process, his guidance and organizational skills kept us sane. There were so many small details we didn’t even consider and we’re thankful he did. He’s one of the most meticulous and thorough people we’ve ever met, but in such a natural, easygoing and comforting way.
Oh and we didn’t even talk about the jaw-droppingly beautiful and organic photos he creates. But Tom’s work speaks for itself. It’s what prompted us to reach out to him in the first place. We will forever be in awe of our wedding album. It’s too difficult to put into words how happy we are with it. -

Tom and Heather made my wedding day!
My biggest challenge when looking for a wedding photographer was finding someone that truly understood the photos I was looking for and someone that I trusted to capture my day. As soon as I spoke with Tom I knew he was the one and trusted him completely.
From the very beginning, Tom was so calming and supportive. He had a special touch that other photographers that I talked to did not. He sent a package with his favorite movie, prints from our engagement shoot, popcorn and so many other personalized goodies.
Throughout planning he would check in to help plan the day and offer his guidance with the schedule. On the wedding day itself, Tom and his wife Heather were the duo that even my guests are still talking about! They were so dynamic, fun, blended in so well and truly captured the most amazing photos - I am beyond happy. Tom has such a creative eye and his photos are like no other. I wanted candid yet classic pictures and he absolutely brought that vision to life.
Tom and Heather were so kind, happy and genuinely fun to work with. It was like we knew them forever. Their photos are so incredible because THEY are behind the lens.
I am forever grateful for my photos and video from my wedding day. They turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. -

If we had to do our wedding 1,000 times over, we would choose Tom as our photographer every time. Not only was he a calm and reassuring presence leading up to the big day, but he and his wife, Heather, made it their priority to ensure that we maintained that sense of calm and control throughout our entire wedding day and night. What could have ended up being a chaotic situation solely based on the large size of our families and bridal party, ended up being a positive, happy, and surprisingly EASY experience due to the support and guidance that Tom and Heather provided to us. Having just had their own wedding less than one week prior to ours, there was never once a feeling that this team was unhappy to be back at work. They were gracious, friendly, and accommodating to us and our guests from beginning to end. Tom is the absolute best - he made everything seamless for us. I interviewed tons of different photographers and none of them made me feel comfortable like Tom did. He wanted to know us, how we met, know our story. He genuinely cared. For us that was so important, after all you are with them all day!

We hired Tom because he’s an artist. It shows in every frame he captures. There are a lot of choices for a wedding photographer, especially in the NYC area, but if you want someone who brings artistry and still can wrangle all your family members for a photo, Tom is your guy. Tom just puts everyone in his orbit at ease. If you’re on the fence about choosing Tom, don’t be. He checks every box.
We were a Covid wedding, and had to move our date twice throughout 2020 and 2021. Each time Tom was totally understanding and made sure he was available to us. He stayed in touch throughout all the waiting at a regular cadence and made sure we had everything planned out well in advance when it came time to get down to details. In addition to being completely on top of it, Tom adds a personal touch every step of the way. Whether it’s a thoughtful gift or a quick video to connect with details Tom brings his authentic self.
When it finally came time to have the wedding, we can’t say enough about how professional Tom was. He captured everything from details, to our first look, the ceremony, and of course those amazing reception candids that really capture the atmosphere. Tom has a deft ability to switch between formal photography to almost a journalistic quality for candids. He is charming, a fantastic photographer, and we can’t recommend him enough. Tom is the best. -

Don’t think twice!
Hiring Tom Schelling Photography was undoubtedly one of the best decisions my husband and I made while planning our wedding! There’s something to be said about an extremely organized, creative, multi-talented, interpersonal photographer! Not only were our photos absolutely timeless and stunning, but Tom helped us with organization, logistics, timelines, photo locations, positive weather affirmations, calming our anxieties, and so much more. Heather, Tom’s amazing fiancé and fellow talented counterpart, helps tremendously and the day of always made me feel special and made sure the details were on point. absolutely incredible!!!
Where do we even begin. Booking with Tom was the best decision we made in the wedding planning process!! I never would have imagined our pictures could be as beautiful as they are. Tom is amazing!
From our initial search for vendors, we knew that photography and videography was something that we both highly valued. We wanted photos that captured us as a couple and Tom Schelling did exactly that. It was such a pleasure to work with Tom and Heather throughout our planning process, they truly felt more like our friends than our photographers. Tom even helped us with creating a timeline for our wedding day and was very flexible when we had to postpone our wedding due to Covid, just some of the things he does that we felt were going above and beyond our expectations. Amazing work by Tom! We got married on 9/19/20 in a small ceremony, which was planned approximately 1 month before. I was nervous about finding a photographer last minute, but Tom responded right away (and luckily for us, he was available). He was very responsive and flexible in setting up time to chat before the ceremony (I have a busy schedule, which he accommodated easily) in order to discuss our vision and plan for the day. On the day of the wedding, he was excellent! We've never taken "professional photos" and so he was great at directing us, but also allowing us be ourselves. Even though we had never met, it felt like a friend was taking our photos, which definitely put us at ease. The photos themselves came out amazing--a great mix of photos of the two of us, photos of the ceremony, and photos of our family members. Definitely a wonderful experience overall. I would highly recommend Tom to any of my friends and family. -

Tom Schelling is class, personified. Our experience with working with Tom and his fiancé Heather the day of our wedding was seamless and perfect! He is super creative, relaxed and flexible, as well as efficient and organized.. essentially he checks every single box you could ever want in your wedding photographer! My husband and I arrived separately to a predetermined location in Central Park by Tom for a genuine first look, followed by a breathtaking shoot at nearby locations in the park, and finally our ceremony at Dene Summerhouse. The entire experience leading up to our actual ceremony not only eased our own anxieties, but we had so much fun! He took the “pressure and work” off of us through his ability to gently and creatively guide us through our photos and make us laugh along the way.
Tom is visionary, and has an eye for originality, class, and romance. His photography embodies iconic NYC as well. Tom was extremely helpful in planning the timeline of our special day, in choosing the photo and ceremony locations, and in organizing the shot list for family photos. If you choose to hire Tom as your photographer you aren’t getting just photos, you are getting an experience! From the day we contacted him he was responsive, flexible, responsible, professional and an absolute joy to work with. He took the time to get know my now husband and I and tailored our day to ensure the unavoidable nuances didn’t deter our special day. Boutonnières sent to the venue instead of the hotel? -Not a problem, he took gorgeous shots from afar at our shoot location and portraits of our lovely groomsmen at the venue. Veil flew off while walking down the isle? -Tom’s already captured a great picture of that veil on before the laughter ensued.
Here are just some of the ways you’re getting more than just a photographer if you go with Tom on your special day:
• Location advice? He has it. He helped us navigate the options in choosing a perfect location for our first look, and couple/wedding party/family portraits. Need that perfect shot? He’ll stop NYC traffic and even ran down the beach with you in slow motion to capture that perfect moment.
• Wedding day timeline looking rough? He provided a simple to use web page and talked us through all the tips and tricks to maximizing our time. We had every beautiful moment captured, time to dance, time to eat, and time to ourselves to soak it all in. It doesn’t get better than that!
• Need to communicate in a simple seamless manner? Tom will send you video messages, he will FaceTime you, and we even got a cool app we can whip out at anytime to show our friends our amazing pictures. He even sent us an amazing book to flip through on our own time. He has all his bases covered when it comes to communicating effectively! His insta is pretty dope two!
• Need some great vibes sent your way? Tom is generally speaking a really cool dude who brought a sense of calm, direction and fun on our special day. I won’t spoil anything for you, but the surprises we received along the way had us feeling the love. Who doesn’t love a random reason to smile!
• Have absolutely no idea what you’re doing but would love to look great in photos? The direction he provided our bridal party and myself on the wedding day on how to strike a pose and where to stand and look was all the direction we needed. Tom’s ability to capture seemingly candid shots that look great are indicative of his talents as a photographer. He has vision and knows how to frame a shot and work with his equipment to render what I can only describe as artwork.
All in all, investing in your memories are as important as investing in the experience. With Tom, you’ll get a flawless execution of both. The amount if time, work, and sheer talent is well worth it. We’ve found a photographer for life. -

We are so grateful that we found Tom Schelling to capture our vineyard wedding! From our first meeting to his last shot he was a true professional, warm and sometimes funny. When we were looking for a photographer we wanted someone who shoots with a light and airy style. We spent so much time sifting through photographers until we found Tom. After our first meeting I was sure he would be perfect. He pays attention to details, and not just the big picture, the small ones too. He is a true artist in that sense and as very hands on bride, this gave me a sense of calm and trust in him. We worked with so many vendors for our wedding but Tom was the one who stands out by small gestures like gifting us with photos to take home on our wedding day. His professionalism shines through out the entire wedding planning experience but the best part was we received all of our photos within 2-3 weeks after our wedding! I can go on and on with compliments for Tom, and why you should use him but truthfully just look at his work....We LOVE EVERY SINGLE PHOTO he sent us, and these will be memories we cherish for a lifetime! -

Tom was our wedding photographer this past summer and what a fantastic choice we made! Tom's attention to detail, professionalism, and expertise in capturing the most important day of our lives went above and beyond our expectations!
Initially, it was tough to select a photographer but when we came across some of Tom's work on Instagram/Facebook/his website, we were impressed with how he captured the most candid of moments. From the moment we first met him, he put our worries at ease by explaining the process, responding almost instantaneously whenever we had questions via email, and ensuring that he would be with us every step of the way. Out of all of our vendors, Tom was by far the most organized, responsive, and had an uncanny ability to direct others to ensure we were able to enjoy each other on our wedding day.

Tom is the BEST
First things first, Tom is a true professional. Tom captured our engagement and our wedding in a manner that exceeded our expectations. Simply stated, Tom is an OUTSTANDING photographer. The results were stunning. He has a unique vision which, he is able to execute with minimal fuss. In addition, Tom is punctual, practical, accommodating, and truly understanding of how the wedding process unfolds. Not withstanding his extraordinary talent as a photographer, Tom is a genuinely nice guy. He is super enthusiastic and fun to work with. He made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. As a result, he was able to capture genuine and unposed moments of love and joy. We now consider him a friend and highly recommend him for any wedding or event . Tom is the best. Working with Tom was great! He arrived early to scout the venue and then took the time to ask us how we wanted to preserve our wedding. After a few minutes, he went right to work and capturing the most genuine moments leading up to our ceremony. Receiving our photos was quick and easy and way more than we expected. We highly recommend Tom! -

Tom is the best photographer we have had the pleasure of working with. He was professional but relatable in every step of the process. He sent us questionnaires which pin pointed exactly what we wanted and he nailed everything on the day of the wedding. He is a genius when it comes to photography but also very easy going and funny. We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer for our big day. We tell everyone we know about Tom and look forward to working with him again. Tom exceeded our expectations as a wedding photographer, he was professional, organized, and captured every memorable moment of our wedding day. He is unbelievably organized and knew each time of each wedding photo session throughout the day, which helps the Bride feel at ease and allows her to just soak in the moment of the day. He made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera by telling us inside jokes as he captured us laughing , grinning, and in the end we have beautiful, stunning wedding photos which we will cherish for years to come. I honestly look and relook at each of our photos because I can’t choose which beautiful photo I want to frame and put on the wall. I love them all. He captured each emotion, each danceable moment, stunning landscapes and beautiful photos of the two of us. I couldn’t be more happier with our wedding photos! I would definitely use Tom for any professional photo shoot in the future. We love Tom and we hope you will love him too!❤️ -
Joe Sent on 05/16/2018My wife, Nicole and I used Tom for our wedding photography and I have to say he was an absolute pleasure to work with. His skill and efficiency went above & beyond and for that we are truly grateful. Tom is extremely mindful of all of his surroundings. He’s very patient and considerate. But most of all, he remembers to accommodate every single detail while shooting. By detail I mean even remembering to bring along a squeaky toy for our Siberian Husky, Ryder so his ADD wouldn’t get the better of him and it worked! The photos came out AMAZING!!!

David Sent on 10/15/2017Tom was incredible from start to finish. As soon as we hired him he was constantly in touch with us, kept us up to date and that didn't stop the day of. During our wedding even our friends said he was like a ninja, barely seen but got incredible photos. Even after the big day he continued to make sure we were as happy as possible. Highly recommend.

We looked at a bunch of different photographers but we choose Tom for his ability to capture moments in a way that retell the story and emotion along with it. Also his attention to detail was amazing . The day of was busy bur tom and his team captured it all and more. He even captured some really amazing candids! I love looking through our wedding ablum and sharing it with others. Some of our family was not able to be with us on our day but we were able to share it with them through the photos Tom took. I completely recommend him !
