We chose Tom Hams because we love San Diego, and have many memories there as a couple. We live 2 hours away in the IE and planned everything over email with Tom Hams. Their communication was exceptional, they always responded quickly. We went to the venue twice prior for food tasting and walk through. The food was delicious, all our guest complemented how good it was. Since this venue is primarily a restaurant the food preparation is superior. It was nice being on the water. I would like to thank their coordinator Laugan for all her help! We will cherish our wedding memories forever, thank you Tom Hams!

From the start of the process the staff at Tom Hams were a pleasure to work with. Laugan and Lisa were prompt with their responses to our questions and requests & helped make a wedding and reception that we planned in 3 months a success. You just can’t beat the location of Tom Ham’s. Having downtown and the bay as the back drop of our ceremony and reception made for the perfect night for us and our guests. Beth, along with the other staff made sure we were taken care of serving us our drinks, food, and cake for our reception. Our guests kept telling us in the couple weeks that have passed since our wedding how perfect the location was, how much they enjoyed the food, and how smoothly the evening went. We would highly recommend Tom Ham’s as a place to hold your wedding.

I am still on cloud 9 after having my wedding here. Planning a wedding in the midst of a pandemic was not fun by any means and it was difficult to have fun. But, Courtney was absolutely amazing. She truly turned our experience around. The day was absolutely flawless. That view is something I will dream about for the rest of my life. Every penny is extremely worth it here. The food was delicious and plentiful through the buffet. Beth and our bartenders had amazing hospitality. People treated my husband and I like king and queen when we were getting wine service during our seated dinner. They made sure we had all appetizers, cake and buffet. If i had to do it all over again, I would pick Tom Ham's again and again!! You won't regret it with that view and amazing balcony.

I highly recommend Tom Ham's Lighthouse for any events! The view is absolutely stunning during the day and especially in the evening! The food was delicious, from their appetizers, main entrees and their chef's dessert special of the week or month? They also have the best deals for big events - the quality of foods, space and breath taking view!

Had my wedding here back in April when restrictions for COVID were still heavily limiting us from having huge parties. However, Sharon and her team made it happen for us!

Sharon was ALWAYS, I mean ALWAYS available for us to speak to regarding every detail, changes or any random question that a bride must have to make sure our wedding will happen accordingly. She sure took very good care of us even with her busy schedule! Sharon was such a doll!!! Very sweet, approachable and professional!

This was the perfect waterfront wedding venue for us, we love the food and beautiful views there. When the pandemic started we thought we were going to have to postpone. Tom Ham's Lighthouse had thought of everything and we only had to make a few logistical changes like a smaller guest list, outdoor reception, and no dancing. Our wedding actually turned out to be even better than I imagined. Perla was so organized, professional, and helpful throughout the whole process. We were able to have our reception outdoors and our guests absolutely loved the view and the food. The wedding ran perfectly and all of the staff was so kind and professional. I highly recommend Tom Ham's Lighthouse for the most beautiful wedding day!

Planning a wedding during COVID is no easy feat but you CAN have the wedding of your dreams with vendors like Tom Ham's. Pre-Covid, TH was always my dream wedding venue. We snagged our date after touring the venue. You cannot beat the location and view. Wow, I am now so glad I chose TH. With all of the regulations put in place there was a time I was worried we would have to postpone or cancel entirely. TH stepped up to the plate and was as cautiously optimistic as I wise that we could pull off a safe and beautiful wedding! Perla is truly incredible! From the beginning, she was organized and detail oriented. We were able to truly have the wedding of our dreams because Perla and TH were able to work with us to create it. Due to COVID, we had a smaller guest list and the biggest change we made was having our reception on the ceremony site. TH did a beautiful job, guests were seated at their reception tables upon arrival. Then after the ceremony, they set up a king's table under the arch. We were able to decorate the outdoor space with papel picado and string lights. We also set up AMOR marquee letters. The wedding was absolutely stunning and I think it was because we were able to have it all on the ceremony site!

Two days before our scheduled wedding, our venue called and canceled. Our awesome photographer (Katherine Beth Photography) mentioned them, we reached out right away, and with 24hr to spare, we had a venue for our intimate ceremony and lunch. They really felt for us and were able to work some magic around another event that day just to help us out (shoutout to the coordinator, Perla)! By the time we got there, our story had circulated the staff and they could not have been more accommodating. One of the owners (Andy) stepped right in there, didn't even realize who he was at the time. Tom Ham's offer such gorgeous views, great food, and amazing service! They helped make our day SO special and for that, we are forever grateful. If you are looking for a San Diego venue, don't leave this place off the list!

We are so happy we chose this venue. They have a beautiful ceremony site, large patio and reception room, all on the waterfront with a million-dollar view of the harbor and downtown skyline. As a top-notch restaurant (regular dining is upstairs and totally separate from the wedding venue) , the food is delicious and the serving staff and bartenders are very professional. Linens, tables and chairs are all included so you don't have to worry about those details. Brooke and Perla provide exceptionally professional and responsive service, so you can be confident through the whole process that your wedding will be wonderful.

We had our wedding last Sunday and loved everything about Tom Ham’s - the location, the delicious food, the affordable price, and the staff! Seriously this venue is beautiful! It can be a little pricey, but worth it! The staff are so wonderful and helpful! The food was amazing. Buffet was worth it! People kept coming up to us and telling us this was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been too. Also you cant beat that San Diego Sky line view during the sunset!

First of all, Tom Ham's Lighthouse is one of the most beautiful wedding venues we have ever seen! Coming from Kansas City, we wanted to find a venue with that "wow factor" feeling for our out of town guests. Goodness did Tom Ham's deliver!! More importantly though, Brooke and Perla at Tom Ham's made the entire planning process a breeze. They were incredibly responsive and professional, which was necessary when planning a destination wedding. The food from the restaurant was so delicious and it was so nice being able to add a second bar on the patio to make sure there was never a line!! If you're able to get the entire first floor for your wedding day, we highly recommend doing so, as it really makes the ceremony, to cocktail hour to reception process go so smoothly.

The food, the venue, the waitstaff, absolutely everything was perfect having our wedding at Tom Hams. It was truly the most classy venue. People are still raving about the food, saying it’s the best wedding food they’ve ever had. But the wedding coordinators Brooke and Perla truly made planning our wedding seamless. Most wedding venues you have to get your own coordinator. These two women helped me with every detail and made our wedding day the best day ever. Hands down the best venue to get married at in San Diego!

My husband and I actually met at Tom Ham's years ago and his family has had many events here. Even after the remodel I was very please with their service and professionalism. The wedding coordinator team was very prompt in responding and I highly recommend the venue. So beautiful!

This is the most beautiful wedding venue. We received so many compliments on how nice the ceremony and reception space was. Brooke and her team are awesome and super responsive. Even random one-off questions about table cloths and high chairs, etc. were all answered quickly and in a positive manner. We had the best experience and are so thankful we found Tom Ham's. A few of our guests said it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding and several told our parents it was the nicest wedding they had been to. We did centerpieces and up-lights and other than that the venue is the decoration, so its perfect for those who don't have a huge decoration budget or want a more classic feel.

All of our guests remarked how fantastic the food was, most saying it rivaled the best they've ever had for a wedding. On top of that, the drinks were great, the staff was very attentive, and of course, the views were spectacular.

If you're considering having your ceremony and/or reception at Tom Ham's, don't think twice!

We had our Fourth of July wedding at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse and it was incredible! Perla and Sarah were amazing. They were so professional and personable through out the whole processes from our first tour to the tasting to our wedding day. I appreciated their attentiveness to us on our big day making sure every detail was right and that we were taken care of! I cannot thank them enough. The food was great (we did the buffet) and the view for the fireworks was to die for! All our friends tell us it was hands down the best wedding they have ever been too. This venue does not disappoint and neither does the staff. I cannot say enough good things about them!

This was my dream venue (having lived in San Diego my whole life) and the ONLY place I wanted to get married at, so we did what it took to budget it in and make it happen and we it did for less than 10K! This is how. If you get married on a Friday or Sunday they wave the $800 fee for the ceremony site, which is the main reason I wanted to get married there, the view cannot be beat of the San Diego downtown skyline! Gorgeous! We also picked a lunch buffet for 80+/- people and even added a hosted beer (w/a limit) and some champagne mimosas and viola!! A beautiful wedding on a budget. They ladies at THL are great to work with. They're communication via email was excellent. They were flexible and worked with us and our vendors. The food at THL was awesome as well, even for a buffet we got rave reviews from our guests. The staff working our reception was also great. I highly recommend this venue for any wedding!

Brooke and Perla were extremely helpful from the start! After we viewed the ceremony site and reception rooms, we knew this would be the perfect setting for an outdoor fall wedding in San Diego and we couldn't have been more pleased! Brooke and Perla answered any questions I had and were always very responsive throughout the entire process. Everything that Tom Ham's provides for the ceremony site and banquet halls took the stress out of finding a vendor for chairs/tables. Everyone loved the food during dinner and cocktail hour and the value for what you get was worth the price. The staff (bartenders and banquet staff) were also outstanding! We have already recommended this venue to another bride!

Tom Ham's is a beautiful and stunning location where we held our wedding reception. I had so many questions for them, and they were on top of answering every single one of them so quickly, mostly within a few hours! The food was delicious and very flexible with decorations. We loved having our wedding reception there, I highly recommend it!

Holding our wedding ceremony and reception at Tom Ham's was a dream come true. The venue is incredible, the views are top notch and the staff of Brooke and Perla make planning a wedding seem so manageable and easy. Brooke and Perla both were very responsive over email and phone, their software used for Event Planning made everything crystal clear and upfront. I would recommend Tom Ham's to all the brides out there.

We used Tom Ham's for our wedding, and couldn't be happier. We had lots of out of town guests who were blown away by the view and AMAZING food. Kelsey was very helpful along the way when we were planning, and the staff did an incredible job the whole night, especially when we were thrown a curveball and had to move the ceremony inside at the last minute due to rain. We definitely made the right choice, Tom Ham's was great!

My parents had their wedding dinner and Tom Ham's over 40 years ago!! Obviously, the place has changed a bit since then, but the sentimental value alone was enough for us to consider it for our rehearsal dinner. We had a few options, but the views of the bay, food and service made choosing them a no brainer. The restaurant is impeccable and our guests were blown away by the gorgeous San Diego sky line views at night. Tom Ham's was a perfect choice and we highly recommend it!!

We held our wedding rehearsal/welcome dinner here. Most of our guests were from out of town. Everyone loved this place! People went back to eat here over the weekend they liked it so much. Tom Ham's has the best views of the harbor and skyline. The food was great and the staff that worked with us were amazing.

We had our ceremony and reception at Tom Ham's. The events team is a pleasure to work with. We made our own photo booth and were still working on it the day before the wedding. They accommodated our last minute requests for the photo booth table. The staff the day of the wedding was amazing, always making sure we were taken care of no matter how busy we were. The food was delicious and the views outstanding. We hope to enjoy future events at Tom Ham's.

Our wedding location, the food and the attentiveness of the staff couldn't have been any better. We wanted an amazing San Diego wedding by the bay and we got it. One word...amazing! My husband and I were both born & raised in San Diego and this venue is was perfect mix of what San diego is about. Our guest are still talking about the wonderful food & beautiful views. We can't say enough about the wonderful service we received leading up to our event and during our special day. Stephanie is a wonderful events planner and so easy to work with. Water front wedding & reception without the sand plus the added downtown skyline as a backdrop = priceless

I had my magical and amazing wedding at Tom ham's lighthouse.
1) This places is has the amazing view of the ocean and San Diego skyline. They put in like millions of dollar of renovations and the new place is amazing. They custom build the ceremony site with a huge metal arch which is beautiful.
2) Our wedding co-coordinator was Stephanie and she was amazing, very prompt in replying to email and helped us in every step of the wedding planning. Some one here pointed out that tom ham's been not flexible which is not true, they were extremely flexible. Hey they allowed our dogs to be part of the ceremony which surprisingly a lot of other venues blatantly denied us to have our dogs being part of our ceremony on our special day.
3) The food is amazing . Ours was a mixed Indian-american wedding. The chef actually custom made all the appetizers in Indian style. the main entree was American-italian style and was really good.
4) We booked both the rooms and the price was very decent for ocean/city view venue in san diego.

This place has been everything I dreamed off for my wedding. I ddidnt have any complain. Kudos to the wedding managements.

Stephany at Tom Ham's Lighthouse was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was very helpful and responsive to all of my questions when planning my wedding. Everything was very clear and she was upfront about all costs or things to keep in mind when making changes. It was nice to have all of the information up front when making a decision. The wedding went very smoothly.
All of our guests raved about the food (we had a buffet with a steak and fish entree option, two salads, soup, and tray passed appetizers). We live in New Orleans and the chef even added some cajun flare to our appetizers. Blackened shrimp with a remoulade sauce and cajun spiced beef brochettes. I was very impressed with their flexibility to our menu requests.
The view from Tom Ham's Lighthouse over the water and looking onto downtown San Diego really made the evening spectacular.

Tom Ham's was a gorgeous venue for our wedding. Stephany, the event coordinator was so organized, she kept the event flowing with ease. The food was also delicious. We got so many compliments on the food! And did I mention the view? Breathtaking!

Tom Ham's Lighthouse was everything my husband and I had wanted. The new arch is beautiful (and doesn't need to be decorated), the banquet manager was professional and quick to respond to any questions, and we were happy with the service provided during the reception.

Great place for an event, great views, relaxed atmosphere, great service

Tom Ham's was wonderful for our June wedding reception. It has been recently rennovated and looks stunning. Our guests were blown away by the beautiful atmosphere and stunning San Diego skyline. The staff is all so professional and the Banquet Manager Stephany is very helpful and accessible. We served prime rib and salmon, and the food was delicious, so much more elegant and tasty than your typical wedding chicken. Tom Ham's is also an all-inclusive venue which is nice, many other venues we looked at seemed less expensive, however, didn't include plates, linens, tables, rentals, cake cutting, hosted bar, etc....when really your $$ would go further at a place like TH. Thank-you TH for everything!!!

Tom Hams Lighthouse was amazing. Stephany was so helpful and so easy to work with. She always kept me in the loop and was quick to respond if I needed something. The venue is beautiful, it was recently remodeled and its breathtaking. All of our guest were in awe with the view and the service as well as the quality of the food. When we did our tasting the chef came out and spoke to us allowing us to ask question etc. I would recommend this location to anyone.

The event coordinators, Stephany and Judy, were always professional, extremely quick to respond to my emails (usually within minutes), were patient with us as we asked our many questions, and walked us through every detail of our ceremony and reception. The view was beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the staff was very helpful, efficient, and courteous. You cannot beat their prices. So many things that we would have been expected to pay extra for at other facilities were included in the price at Tom Ham's. We received so many compliments from our guests on the venue and the food. This is a place that is definitely worth looking at when you plan your wedding.

They definitely took care of us the day of the wedding, making sure we had enough to eat and drink and asking us if there was anything we needed. I felt they were extremely flexible w/me. I was even changing the head count the day of and had changed the floor plan a week prior to the wedding reception. I even had changes to the bar the day of the wedding...I found them to be really flexible and attentive to my needs. If you're looking for great quality that's affordable nothing can top Tom Ham's Lighthouse. The view is to die for, the service is great, and the presentation of the room is classy and sophisticated. I had my reception in the smaller of the two rooms and it was perfect. I was worried there wouldn't be enough room or that it would be crowded, but it was just enough room w/ 85 people. When I was looking around for other venues a very "high end" competitor even told me to go w/Tom Ham's and there was no other place that could compete w/them. If you're wondering if you should book it...DO IT! I wasted my time looking into other places...this was perfect!

Our guests were very impressed with the service, food and unobstructed view of downtown. It was bright and sunny on the balcony where we had our ceremony. The dining area was big and beautiful. The food is very good quality. Judy the catering manager went above and beyond. She found crushed chocolate colored napkins for my reception. They also have samples of tablecloths right there for you to check out. Free parking is a plus! Besides you really can't get lost finding the location.

The view is GORGEOUS!!! And truly breathtaking. It's inexpensive with an amazingly, beautiful view (Downtown)...you can't beat that. We wanted a venue that had a nice view and not just a plain room and when we saw this venue, we couldn't resist it. Our guests were impressed with the location. Parking is free and lots of it. The room and balcony is spacious. The food was pretty good as well. And the service was great! It's perfect for a romantic event.

The view here is AMAZING, especially at night. This was the main reason we booked this venue for our reception. Not to mention the prices were pretty affordable, especially for our wedding of 200. The space was a little tight for a wedding of this size, but we knew that going in so it wasn't upsetting. Our guests loved the food and the appetizers were delicious, however my rice was a little undercooked and I remember the tasting being a lot better. The service was great though. The waiters were very polite and respectful. The coordinators, Judy and Stephany, were very quick to respond to emails and were very professional. Overall, we'd recommend this venue to anyone. Did I mention the view is amazing?!

They were absolutely wonderful. One of my vendors said they weren't as easy to deal with but they went above and beyond for my fiance and I. The food was delicious, the servers were on it and Judy the venue Coordinator was responsive any time I emailed or called her. Their prices were affordable, the view fantastic and overall, a great experience. The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't clean the patio floor before I walked down the aisle (I had my ceremony there) and my dress suffered the consequences of a FILTHY floor. Other than that, I recommend this venue.

The coordinators were amazing to work with! They're responsive, kind, and easy to communicate with. The venue itself was absolutely beautiful and I had many people comment on the view. Food was good (not as good as dining at the restaurant) but everything was cooked well for a large amount of people. Everything at the wedding went as expected, and I cannot thank Tom Ham's more for an amazing wedding.

I can't begin to express how amazing it was to have Tom Ham's as our wedding venue. I personally loved the location nicely placed where you can see the entire skyline of Downtown San Diego. The secluded Wedding Garden, the view of the skyline, and the time of day we chose to have our ceremony made it magical. There was no need to have much decorations at the ceremony because of the view. Due to planning our wedding in the middle of a pandemic, we opted to have our reception out on the patio with a total of 40 people in our party. TH's provided heat lamps, therefore jackets were not needed. The food, if you have never had a meal at TH's, you should. Their food is great in general. I always expect wedding food to be a tad bit on the bland or dry side, given that all the guests food are served at once, but TH's did not disappoint. Their food was just as good as you would order had you gone for just the meal. In other words, it was delicious! I wish I had time to actually finish my meal. The servers were great, I forget the name of the lady who served my husband and I, but she really did take care of us. And she made sure that I ate as well. Having these personable qualities makes for a better experience. It makes you believe that they genuinely care.

Taking into consideration of planning our wedding during the pandemic, communication was good, especially through email. Sharon was AMAZING! She was able to response to all of my questions and emails. She was direct and personable. It seems like I had my friend help me coordinate my plans with TH's. Keep in mind, I had planned our wedding all in about 8 weeks. With the amount of time I used to plan the wedding, it turned out the way I expected it. Beautiful and everything I wanted and could have during these times. All to the help of Sharon.

Overall, I am beyond happy to have had my wedding at Tom Ham's Lighthouse.

This place is amazing!!! The staff at Tom Ham’s were extremely helpful throughout my entire wedding planning, and the food and views were just stunning!!!! Absolutely loved it.

If you are looking for a memorable ceremony and reception spot for your wedding, this is it. We looked up and down the California Coast and the value at Tom Ham's just couldn't be matched. Initially communication was not strong and responses to our questions took several days...eventually more coordinators were hired and this wasn't an issue again. The team of Brooke, Jenny and Perla really helped us execute the vision we wanted and were patient with us as we had last minute changes and adjustments. There were a couple small flubs but once we alerted the coordinators, they quickly remedied the issues. Food was excellent and we have received so many compliments on the food. We had the night of our lives and are so grateful that we got to have our event here with the San Diego skyline as our backdrop.

I can't say enough about Tom Ham's. The service was amazing and both the owner and the event coordinator are super nice and easy to work with. The staff the night of the wedding were awesome. The value is amongst the best in San Diego and you cannot put a price tag on the gorgeous view. I got prices from last year before their remodel but I am sure the new increase is still a great value for everything that they include. They have also built a new ceremony site right out front that is gorgeous and I can't tell you how many compliments I got on the venue itself.

Tom Hams was a beautiful setting for our reception. All of the guests loved it and the food was delicious! The only thing that I gave a 4 on was the flexibility of hours that our room was available. But, I do realize they have other events to schedule around.

Our wedding ceremony and reception were at Tom Ham's, and it was wonderful! The view of downtown San Diego, the bay, and Coronado is absolutely beautiful, and the venue itself is fresh off of a complete remodel. Our guests, many of whom were from out-of-town, had nothing but great things to say about what a beautiful venue Tom Ham's is and how it made for such a great wedding.
The food was wonderful, the service was fantastic, and Stephany,the sales manager, is very easy to work with and very flexible with whatever you need. We were really impressed with the fact that we could choose the two kegs of beer they have on tap in the California room for our reception; it was an added treat to be able to serve our two favorite San Diego beers!
I'm one of those obsessive perfectionists who, three months after her wedding, is still thinking about the things she wished she'd done differently. I wish I'd spoken up when the girl who did my hair put in a big braid that I wasn't expecting (but I didn't want to hurt her feelings), I wish I'd said something to the photographers when they decided of all the places in Balboa Park to take pictures of our wedding party, they chose the stage on the Organ Pavilion so it looks like we're standing in front of a big roll-up garage door... But, I digress. Of all my little regrets, I have none about Tom Ham's. They were awesome, and I highly recommend them for a wedding ceremony and reception spot.

This venue is awesome! It's right on the bay, on harbor island. Both banquet rooms (decorated vintage nautical) have spectacular views of the Coronado Bridge and downtown SD. The catering staff was absolutely amazing and made a buffet style dinner very sophisticated, beautiful and delicious. Judy and Adrian (wedding contacts) are very helpful and respond very quickly to any calls/questions. The best part about the venue is it is very AFFORDABLE, about $50 a person (unheard of for bay venues). I fell in love with it the first time I saw it.

Tom Ham's is a beautiful venue. The ocean views from both the ceremony space and the reception space are hard to beat. The staff is very responsive and professional. Because the tables, chairs, linen, and food are all provided it's perfect for a bride who doesn't need or want to pick out every little detail or for someone planning from afar.

I loved Tom Ham's. The view and room that I booked were perfect. The food was great. I was nervous because they don't do tastings if you want the buffet, but everything was delicious! The one thing that I thought was very unprofessional was that at the end of the night, the bartender came up to me with the bill! They had my credit card on file and the majority was pre-payed. I don't think that that it is a good time to talk to the bride about billing at 1 am after a night of drinking and dancing.

Tom Ham's Lighthouse was a great value. The food was good and the location on the San Diego harbor is beautiful! Lunch and dinner prices were less than the other places we checked out. You can have your ceremony there too, right by the water.

Amazing Venue!!! Food - to die for! Everything about our wedding went perfectly! I can not thank Stephany enough for making our day go as smoothly as possible. Pricey but not out of reach and well worth it!

I had a really pleasant and easy experience with Tom Ham's Lighthouse. Judy and Stephany were professional and able to answer any questions I had. The whole thing was a breeze. They were always available via email to answer questions that popped into my head. I was also really impressed with the service from the staff on the night of the wedding. I guess my expectations based on being in other weddings were kind of low. The staff were accomodating and kind all night. I recieved tons of compliments on the food which I also didn't expect as this is catering/wedding food, but they were right! Our meal was fabulous. You can't beat the view and the value for the experience at Tom Ham's. I'm really glad we chose this venue!

We had our wedding reception in Tom Ham. They did a great job serving us and the food is great! The view to the bay and city is spectacular. Our guest had a great time! Also, they help us cut our wedding cake and even decorated it with fresh fruit and sauce! Super awesome. I strongly recommend Tom Ham for your wedding reception dinner : )

Tom Ham's has a beautiful view and we had a lovely reception overall they are a great place to have a wedding. The food was wonderful and the service on the day of the wedding was great and our guest had a wonderful time. They include a lot in their base fee but they are not very flexible when it comes to accommodating anything that is not on their list or adding anything in even though you are paying a lot to rent the room. Everything was yes or no, never let me see if I can help you get what you want. I wouldn't change a thing about our wedding day venue choice but just know what you are getting into when you sign up which is great view, great food, not a lot of flexibility.

The value for the location, you just can't beat. Very flexible with the menu (I have dietary issues in my family all over the place). Flexibility otherwise is lacking....but the catering staff that you get the day of is great, a few of the lower level ones are missing a few screws, but the managers and supervisors are just a cut above the rest and make sure your day is special. You can't miss with Tom Ham's.

I love every minute of my wedding day at Tom Ham's. The ceremony was beautiful and the California room with the large patio with the view of downtown San Diego was breathtaking. The Venue is clean and modern leaving the bride and groom style to shine through. The food was excellent, we received lots of complements! The only complaint I have was the customer service. They seem to have so many weddings there, which I can see why, that the wedding staff is very hard to get a hold of and especially meet in person after you sign the contract. I didn't even see the wedding event mangers and coordinator at my rehearsal or wedding. So hiring a coordinator is a must. Which I did Holly Kalkin and she was amazing!! Overall I would recommend this venue for the view, food, clean design and value. I had at absolutely fabulous wedding!

Tom Ham’s Lighthouse is a beautiful place to get married and/or have an event reception. With the venue being right on the water with a perfect view of downtown San Diego (that’s perfectly framed by the ceremony area arch), it was an ideal place to have a wedding in San Diego. I’m only summarizing the ‘bad’ in my review as I was cut off on characters:
-The air conditioning was either not working or not functioning so people didn’t want to get on the dance floor because it was so hot. The few people who were on the dance floor would literally run outside to gasp for drenched in sweat. I’m not sure what the reason was for the lack of A/C, despite many requests to fi it, but it really put a damper on the night since no one was dancing.
-The entire bottom floor is comprised of 2 rooms. If you only book one room, the venue doesn’t give you first right of refusal if there are other interested parties for the other room. The rooms are not soundproof at all and you’d be sharing a balcony (they would just put fake walls to separate the balcony
-The ‘beef’ options are either sirloin steak or short-rib. We wanted to go with the ‘steak’ option, but ‘sirloin’ doesn’t necessarily sound that great on a menu/RSVP card. So we had to pay an extra $28pp+ 20% service fee + 8% tax to upgrade to New Yorks
-We had booked the venue 14 months in advance of our wedding date and we had been working with Stephanie, their events coordinator. One month before our wedding, Stephanie vanished! No ‘transition’ email, no ‘FYI’, we had to figure it out by asking the question ourselves! Very unprofessional.
-The set up time is tight. You are only guaranteed 1 hr before your event start time to set-up. If there isn’t another event before yours, you can set up earlier, but they only guarantee it if you buy more time ($600/hr) or if a week out they don’t have another event.
-If you buy the ceremony package (an extra $700 fee), it only pays for the set up fees; no extra time & it felt rushed

Tom Ham's is a beautiful venue with great food and beautiful views. We hosted both our ceremony and reception in the California Room. The planning process went smoothly, and the coordinators were easy to work with, which we really appreciated.

Unfortunately, the service we experienced on our wedding day in April 2024 left us disappointed and overshadowed what could have been a perfect day. The staff lacked basic hospitality—there were no smiles or signs of customer service, drinks were slid across the bar without care, and some of our international guests were denied alcohol even though they had proper passports and IDs.

Additionally, the staff cleared tables far too quickly, often removing plates and drinks before guests were finished (received a lot of feedback from our guests), which resulted in wasted food and money. Many of our guests barely had a chance to enjoy their meals or even our wedding cake before it was discarded. For a wedding, this kind of rushed service felt unnecessary and inconsiderate. While the food itself was good, the poor service left a lasting negative impression. It seemed like the staff forgot they were working a wedding. Given the amount we paid, having attentive and respectful service should have been a given - at a bare minimum. We were also charged a 25% service fee automatically, which seems completely unfair for the level of service received.

We reached out to the venue after the wedding to share our concerns but received no response, which was incredibly frustrating and disheartening. While Tom Ham's has so much potential as a wedding venue, our experience with the staff and lack of follow-up makes it hard for us to recommend.

Held my wedding reception at Tom Ham's. We selected steak and salmon to be served to our guests. The presentation of the food was very sloppy; comparable to something you may find in a cafeteria. This was a surprise to us one, because it was not what we were promised, and two, because in their main dining they have a much more elegant presentation of their food. They also go the entire food order wrong and did little to compensate for their mistake. We left feeling extremely undervalued despite having spent $13,000. Huge Mistake!!!

I did not have a full on reception because it was just our family. I did have a reservation for 8 that I made two weeks in advance. When we got there, we had to wait half an hour even though we had a reservation. It was not even busy and we could see there were plenty of open tables. Everyone ordered the buffet and they didn't keep the hot food or the desserts stocked adequately at all. We actually had to ask for more food to be brought out, and then had to wait quite a while before they actually restocked it. Our waiter wasn't very friendly and didn't even congratulate us even though it was clear we'd just gotten married because we were still wearing our stuff. We were really disapointed in this place. I wouldn't recommend it for lunch, but perhaps they do a better job with their wedding receptions.

Due to Covid we had to cancel our wedding on august 2020 we did not get all our money back (even though we canceled before our due dates) we didn’t get to do any food tasting or waste their time, we only visited the venue twice, first time with my fiancé and second time with one vendor the rest of communications were via email and phones. I don’t know why they held 10% from our deposit which was around $455 thats a lot of money we didn’t even get any services. Covid hit all of us but it wasn’t our fault that we had to cancel , we heard of so many other places canceling with full refund back. Anyway the guy Chris I think he’s a manager he was very horrible he almost threatened to not refund the rest of the deposit which was a total of $4500. Those ppl tried to make some money off of us. Really unfair so stay away from them...
