Todd Shapera ...A true professional!

With all the craziness that goes along with planning a wedding, the decisions a couple makes with regard to their vendors is an essential part of the process. After meeting with Todd at his home in Westchester, choosing him as our photographer was an easy decision. We could tell right away that if the end result matched his enthusiasm, he would turn out a beautiful finished product. His passion as a photographer, after so many years working at his craft, was evident. He was diligent, professional and caring thru the entire wedding, making us feel comfortable every step of the way. We are so happy we found him and would highly recommend him. By the way, the pictures did turn out beautifully....and he has a great sense of humor to boot.

Can’t get enough!

We have hired Todd Shapera for both of our sons bar mitzvahs (May 2018 and March 2020) we have also hired him for our temples gala (May 2019). Todd is a master at the art of photography. In regards to our bar mitzvahs he is professional, artistic and easily engages with the child he’s photographing and the entire family. He is swift and detailed! He gets all the shots but never misses the special moments that only an engage photographer captures. One of the qualities we like most is while Todd blends in to the ground his positive energy and demeanor brings out the best of the guests. He is charismatic and fun and brings the guests loved to be photographed by him. When we hired him for our temple gala which was a totally different vibe then the bar mitzvahs Todd was a true partner and collaborator. His suggestions based on the crowd was spot on. Todd photographed a sophisticated black and white photo booth. We look forward to hiring Todd again for December 2024!

Waterfront engagement shoot

We had the most wonderful time with Todd shooting our engagement photos on the Hudson River. He brought so much creativity and put so much effort into making it a fun, relaxed experience for us. Todd went above and beyond for us and we will cherish our photos forever. We are so happy to be working with his company for our upcoming wedding and would highly recommend him!

Day was captured magically

Todd did a shoot for our wedding at Tarrytown Castle. We met with him in person, months before the event, and he got our vibe. His work as a journalist helped convey our story, and it showed in the pictures.
We did the obligatory family shots (LOVE), and lots of candid moments. Looking at the pictures (QUICK TURNAROUND!), it was fun to see us how we are, just, at our wedding! Surprise shoot at the pool around dusk was a pop hit!
He is punctual, works hard, and gives you something to share and experience again and again.
Would not have wanted the night to go any other way.

Bat Mitzvah photography & pre-shoot as well as album prep

Todd is not only an event photographer but a true artist. From the time I met him the 1st time and he showed me some of his photo journalist work as well as wedding & Bar & Bat Mitzvah work, I knew he was the one I wanted to hire. He has a calming yet professional presence and wants to satisfy his customers. There were so many niceties and so much attention to detail along the way. When I signed the contract to have him do my daughter’s (Bat Mitzvah) event, he gave me a pack of blank cards with beautiful photos from some of his travels. We planned the pre-shoot for a day in August as the Bat Mitzvah was in October 2018 and when it turned out to be an excruciatingly hot day, he was flexible and offered to pick another date. We stuck with the scheduled date and he made it work by doing the initial photos indoors and then moving outside after 5:00 once it had cooled down. On the day of the actual event, he was amazing! He was there for the family photos @ the temple early and then had his assistant stay towards the end to capture the actual service so he could set up @ the venue space. He took the most amazing photos of the Hora with a panoramic lens. He captured so many of the unscripted, candid moments by being unobtrusive. He delivered the proofs and the flash drive in a timely manner and everything was packaged beautifully. Later, he guided me through the album process and he helped me create the most beautifully tasteful album all without rushing me or being pushy. He is a true professional, extremely talented and a kind and creative soul too. I highly recommend Todd.

Working with Todd for our wedding was an enjoyable experience from the beginning till the end. Todd is extremely professional! He is an expert in the field! The day of the wedding he captured all of the special moments. Todd Shapera, and his phototography and videography crew, are beyond masterful, in every imaginable way possible! They are unobtrusive, respectful, courteous, efficient, and aim to get the storytelling job done right, the first, and only, time. Todd was amazing to work with. We met with him before the wedding and fell in love with his photos and storytelling take on photography, which was exactly what we wanted for our wedding - the photos to tell the story of the day. He was brilliant on the day of the wedding - especially when the weather was less than ideal (pouring all day!) - and he worked with the venue to arrange a way to still get all the shots that we wanted - we really wanted nature in the background and had been planning for an outdoor wedding. He captured everything so beautifully. We loved working with Todd and are SO happy with the photos from our wedding! I've included a few below as an example of his incredible work. Todd flew to Nashville to photograph my son's wedding weekend in a picturesque, rural barn. We loved having him join us for the whole weekend as he documented the casual barbecue the night before the wedding, the wedding day, and a did a fun, day-after portrait shoot of the bridal couple at a favorite river/swimming hole (a trash-the-dress shoot, but beautiful). When nothing went as planned, partly because of excessive heat and an outdoor venue, we had to change the entire shooting schedule and Todd calmly went with the flow. He was able to adjust to all our needs while still capturing the beauty, love, and humor throughout the weekend. Todd is very talented and committed to making every wedding he shoots visually unique, and we are thrilled with his images!

We are so glad we chose Todd as our wedding photographer. It has been over a month since our wedding, and we (and our guests!) can’t stop raving about how fantastic Todd was and how amazing all of our photos are! We are so grateful that a close family friend (who used Todd for both of her sons’ bar mitzvahs) recommended him to us. From when we first met with Todd, it was clear he would be easy to work with, and he absolutely was. Todd was very respectful and sensitive to our wishes and those of our family, and knew just the right time to suggest or not suggest an idea. We are so pleased with the beautiful and creative photo ideas he presented to us, which have turned out to be fantastic – several of which have won Todd international Wedawards for outstanding wedding photography! His talent and passion for what he does is evident as he seamlessly photographed our whole day, including running outside our Rolls Royce after our ceremony to capture a moment and suddenly climbing up on a ladder (on several occasions) in order to get the perfect impromptu shot (even late into dancing the night away). We and our family are so excited with how our wedding photos came out (and how quickly Todd returned them to us). We are forever grateful to Todd to have such special memories on film forever, and we are confident that anyone who hires Todd will surely feel it was one of the best decisions they make in planning their wedding or other special event!

Todd was one of the very best decisions we made during our wedding planning. Photography was my highest priority on our wedding day checklist and Todd did nothing but impress. He was able to professionally and artistically capture our love story so much so that the photos transport me back to one of the happiest days thus far in my life. He also skillfully arranged my large blended family for all the photos that each family member wanted from the day. Additionally, his instincts and experience knew when to move on or when to stay shooting seamlessly throughout our wedding day without the need for verbal communication. I can’t thank him enough for everything he did for us on that day, as well as planning before the wedding and sending our edited images to us after the wedding quickly. Todd Shapera photographed two weddings for my son and his bride – the trip on the New York subway to City Hall in June and the more traditional wedding and reception in Westchester three months later. Both times, Todd captured the story, the fun, and the joy. He is very sensitive to the wishes of the bride and groom – and the parents, too! Working with him is a pleasure and his photographs are gorgeous.

Todd photographed our daughters Bat Mitzvah and did an amazing job! He was so creative, professional and artistic. Our photos far surpassed our expectations and we have the most beautiful album to show our family and friends. Todd was wonderful to work with. He prides himself on capturing the emotion and beauty of weddings while also staying out of the way. From our first meeting it was clear he was interested in our story, from how we met to how we interacted as a couple. He was communicative throughout our planning process and responsive to our requests. We chose a videographer from a different area that he had not worked with before, and they worked well together seamlessly. We have now engaged Todd for two of our sons' bar mitzvahs and have been thrilled with the photos each time. What most struck us with Todd was that he captures emotion in his photographs. He is present, but unobtrusive, and has a great eye to know just when and how to photograph not just the posed shots but also the beautiful moments of joyous life cycle events - parental pride, boisterous laughter, spirited dancing, tender looks exchanged by couples. We have a beautiful, uniquely arranged album from our oldest son's bar mitzvah that has garnered many compliments over the past four years. We just went through Todd's proofs from our second son's bar mitzvah and are thrilled to have so many wonderful photos from which to choose for his album.

Todd Shapera was the photographer at my son’s Bar Mitzvah. He is a very experienced photographer who was able to capture all of the magical moments during the day. This is the second time I have used him and I couldn’t have been happier. The quality of the pictures and the album are exceptional ! I highly recommend him. We used Todd Shapera to photograph my daughter Chelsea's wedding in October. We knew that he was a phenomenal photographer, but were still blown away by the results. Todd is so much more than a photographer. He tells the story of the day through his photographs. His photos capture the moments that made the day and event so special. His use of light and perspective take a picture from simply a photo to a framable memory. The only problem with Todd's work is choosing just a selection of photos for printing or making an album from, since there are too many amazing selections to choose from.

Todd is an absolute pleasure to work with--friendly, and full of creative ideas. He takes stunning photographs. My family has been working with him for over a decade to capture our most important moments. He photographed my Bat Mitzvah years and years ago, as well as my sister's, and most recently, he photographed my wedding! It was a long day with two ceremonies--one Hindu, one Jewish--as well as a reception; beginning to end, he captured everything exquisitely. I can't wait to work with him again!

Todd was an absolutely amazing photographer for our wedding & an pleasure to work with. He made the trip down to my parents house before the wedding (where the bridesmaids and I were getting ready) and spent his time there making sure he photographed everything that was important to me. At the venue itself, his photography was absolutely stunning and unique, despite the fact that he has photographed that venue countless times before. Additionally, he was extremely efficient during the wedding; he managed everyone participating in the bridal party photos extremely well so that the process was not long and painful. During the event, we hardly noticed he was there as he captured all of the important moments without being intrusive. Overall, he was very easy to work with and was always available to answer any questions we had. If you are looking for an excellent photographer whose pictures will capture the beauty and essence of your wedding for years to come, Todd is the perfect choice.

We had a blast with Todd. He's fun, professional and wonderful photos.

Our event was on a rainy day but his humor pulled us through and even during the downpours, he made all the pictures look fabulous.

Todd Shapera is a wonderful photographer in every sense of the word. He was wonderful to work with, always called back if we had a question, was funny and very personable, had great compositional ideas, and captured our daughter's wedding to a tee. From the getting ready pictures, the first look, the ceremony, etc. until the very end, Todd captured the joy, excitement, love and spirit of my daughter's wedding. His pictures told the story of the wedding in such a beautiful way. We couldn't have asked for a better photographer to work with. His assistant and videographer were, needless to say, wonderful as well.

Todd is an exceptional photographer! His artistic eye allowed him to capture beautiful moments from our wedding in a unique way. My daughter's wedding was magical because of the amazing photography by Todd. From the beginning to the end of our event he captured all of the emotions and the beauty of the venue! Todd and his assistant Emma were amazing. They were always there at the right moment to capture all the most important shots, and they turned the formal portrait sessions into super fun photo shoots.

A little less than three weeks after the wedding, Todd gave us a USB stick with 1200 edited digital images from the wedding. They were organized into "chapters" so that they are easy to sort through, and I can always find what I'm looking for pretty quickly. To say that the images came out beautifully is an understatement. Scrolling through the photos, I find myself transported back to the emotional high of my wedding day. Plus, with his background in photojournalism, Todd produced striking, unexpected images that are a far cry from the cliche snapshots you get with a lot of wedding photographers.

Besides doing an amazing job with the photography, Todd was professional, respectful, responsive and all around a pleasure to work with. I would recommend him unconditionally for anyone who is looking for a wedding photographer.

I found Todd on LinkedIn and we got in touch. I was impressed by the work on Todd's website- he had great photos that captured fine details. We hired Todd to work with our company taking individual portraits. I was impressed and very pleased with the effort and care that Todd showed. He was on time, professional, and most importantly he genuinely cared how the photos came out. He recommended different angles and locations. He made all of us feel welcome and at ease, and the pictures prove it. Our team looks relaxed and confident and its in large part due to Todd getting everyone in the right mindset. Our wedding day was amazing – from the beautiful New York Botanical Garden location, to the flowers, friends, family, sunshine etc. – it was beyond anything we could have dreamed of. We were lucky to have Todd Shapera capturing those memories for us to enjoy for years to come. Todd’s pictures are stunning and he puts his whole heart and soul into each event. His pictures highlight not only each part of the evening, but also the many wonderful personalities that were there, the spirit on the dance floor, and the joy we felt. We received our pictures quickly, and Todd took time to sit with us to go through them and highlight many he thought really captured the day. We really enjoyed such a personal touch. He also organized a photo booth that was an unqualified success – our guests loved goofing off and the team at the booth was fantastic.

My daughter's recent wedding was everything I had hoped it would be. My only regret is that after a year of careful planning, the event itself went by in a flash. I'm so grateful to have Todd's beautiful pictures (all 1500 of them!) to savor at my heart's content. Todd's camera definitely captured the joyful spirit of the day - the radiance of the bride and groom, the celebratory happiness of family and friends, the loveliness of the setting. From the pre-ceremony primping through the last dance, nothing escaped his attention. I feel as though Todd noticed all the little details I obsessed over, and even caught some I didn't notice at the time. He truly is an artist.

Todd Shapera was the photographer at our recent Spring wedding. What I love about his style of photography is it's story telling. His photographs are so beautifully done, you look at yourself and say how did he capture that? Mr Shapera is an absolute professional and you can tell that he loves what he does. He brings so much enthusiasm to a photography session with bright and sometimes even impromptu ideas that add an extra element of artistry to his unique style of story telling. Mr shapera has a very kind and welcoming demeanor that is very important because it sets you up for a relaxed environment where you feel comfortable and unaware that you're being photographed. Before our wedding, Mr. Shapera photographed my husband and I for our engagement photos. Let me say that we couldn't have chosen a much better photographer. The absence of a videographer at our wedding made no difference because the beautiful moments captured by Mr. Shapera are one to cherish forever.

My daughter had her wedding at the beautiful Raphael Vineyard on the North Fork of Long Island. Todd Shapera Photography took beautiful and creative pictures for our event. This is the second bat mitzvah Todd has shot for my family. He has proven to be the consummate professional. I rate Todd Shapera Photography 5 stars. Excellent and remarkably talented. If I could give him six stars, I would.

The bride and groom write most of the reviews about a vendor, BUT I am writing because of my observations and experiences with Todd as Mother of the Bride. These are of equal value when considering a photographer for THE wedding. Couples definitely should make their own choices in planning for their perfect day. However, M-O-B’s see and hear things that might escape a younger couples’ attention, such as creativity, personality, energy levels, price/value considerations or how photographic details are discussed.

As my daughter and future son-in-law interviewed Todd, I was merely there to listen. How impressed I was when he opened the meeting by having them talk about themselves and how they met. They lit up like candles as they spoke, and I could see Todd intently watching them to understand their personalities and style. In his very calm manner, a stark contrast to all the other wedding stress, he described how his goal was to tell the story of the day through his photos.
And, how completely he accomplished this by creatively using light, motion and landscape to photo the breathtaking bride and groom, the romantic gestures and expressions of the couple, the excitement and joy of the guests, and the celebratory fun all were having throughout the evening. Looking at the photos is experiencing the day all over again.
The pictures are very creative, capturing priceless expressions, including the facial emotions of the Father of the Bride as he toasted the couple.

Todd’s prices are reasonable, and he photographed for more hours than were required. He did what was needed to keep his promise to tell the story of the day. He is professional, active without being intrusive and the love he has for his work is unquestionable.
Thank you, Todd, a million times over.

I just had my wedding at Tarrytown House Estate. Todd was really amazing, and we just reviewed the beautiful photos that were taken. We worked with Todd both for our engagement shoot and for our wedding and he was amazing for both! For our engagement session, we wanted to bring our huge and exuberant puppy to be part of it and Todd couldn't have been happier, flexible and more patient with our rambunctious pup! Neither of us had had professional pictures taken of us before and Todd immediately made us feel comfortable and at ease. He explained what he was doing while he was doing it, but not having us do anything that we did not feel was "us." We loved our pictures and Todd even had a reel of them playing at the wedding!

For our wedding, our beautiful pictures aside, people were constantly coming up to us impressed with how they noticed that Todd was on top of everything we were doing. Whether it was hiding behind a bush behind the chuppah or running to the back of the ceremony to get us during the recessional, he was ALWAYS there, and never in our faces! We would love to know the magic of how he is able to pull that off, as we've been to so many weddings where the photographer has a bright light in your face or is blocking your view of the couple. Not Todd! He gets all the pictures in a completely unobtrusive manner. This was especially apparent at the end of the evening, as it was pushing 1am and our friends spontaneously made a huge circle around us while we danced. Todd made a bee-line for a step stool so that he could capture the special moment from all angles and the gorgeous pictures brought us right back to it.

When our pictures arrived, it really brought us right back to the moments of the day. They were beautiful and captured everything that was important to us. He has been reliable and resourceful and we have LOVED working with him!

We were so impressed with Todd. I have married two children and had been terribly disappointed with the photographers. A major problem was tardiness in getting proofs to us.

Todd Shapera Photography was wonderful and we were absolutely thrilled with the results. Todd is a pleasure to work with and extremely professional, patient and creative and really has an amazing eye for pictures. The event was our son's Bar Mitzvah last October and he did a beautiful job capturing the service at Scarsdale Synagogue. We did portraits outside, inside as well as some candids before the service started and of Ryan and the family during the service and the quality is outstanding. Later that evening we had our party at Scarsdale Golf Club and again Todd Shapera worked his magic to give us some unbelievable amazing photos. His knowledge and experience really showed as he worked to provide the optimal lighting and location for each shot. And the candids that he took throughout the evening are just perfect. Todd is a thorough professional. I was extremely pleased with his photography of my son's wedding reception at the Stone Mill at the New York Botanical Gardens. Since he knows the venue so well, he was able to get amazing pictures of my son and his wife really using the gardens to their fullest. He captured their playful and loving relationship perfectly. One of my guests even commented that he was the least intrusive photographer she had ever seen. With that he managed to record all the important moments at the event. I am planning on using him again next year for my other son's wedding reception.

If we could give Todd 10 stars across the board, we would. We had the pleasure to have Todd shoot for our engagement session and wedding day, having the absolute best experience with him. Todd's technique is flawless and his ability to capture natural emotion in each picture is uncanny. He truly tells a story throughout the day with his pictures. From the first time we met Todd to the sit down to review all of our photos, it has been an amazing experience. I had the great fortune to recruit and work with Todd Shapera for an assignment in Israel during July 2013. On short notice, Todd volunteered three weeks of his time as a member of the US Maccabi photography team. Along with 5 other photographers, Todd helped cover the over 300 sporting, cultural and social events that over 1,100 US atheletes participated in during the 19th Maccabiah games.

The assignment required long hours of shooting, editing and uploading to the e-commerce website we had built. Todd's stamina, positive attitude, exceptional eye, professional skills and imaginative approach to the assignments resulted in a stunning body of work to document this world event.

Even during the most difficult conditions, Todd accomplished his goals with flying colors, and always was a key team player and a positive example to us all. He's a great photographer, and also a great human being. I'd highly recommend him for any event assignment. Todd is a magnificent photographer. He is patient, creative and it was a pleasure to work with him. His professionalism is fabulous. He immediately returns phone calls and promptly returns proofs and pictures. He genuinely cares. He takes the time to become familiar with the venue so that our pictures have beautiful backgrounds. He knows the best times to photograph outdoor pictures so that the lighting is amazing. He not only takes traditionally posed pictures, but also captures spontaneous moments of the day.
One of the best parts about working with Todd is that he captured every moment of our day, but never interfered when getting a shot. He cares about what he does and it definitely shows!

Todd Shapera is simply wonderful. Creative, thoughtful, and highly skilled as a photosphere. He is a lot of fun to work with, and made us relaxed so that the photos came out with us looking natural and not forced. He came up with many ideas for angles or photo shots that became the perfect photos. He is a class act from start to finish and I give him the highest praise. He is simply the best! Todd is amazing to work with and we couldnt be happier with our pictures from our wedding. I can't say enough about how wonderful Todd was during the entire day! He was there but not in your face and NEVER bothered you. He has a calm demeanor and that spills over to everyone he meets during the day. All you have to do is tell him what you want. He also comes up with some really interesting and unique ideas. He met with my son and his fiance before the wedding and got a sense of who they were...in his eyes his job was to tell the story of their wedding day and he certainly lived up to his promise.

I never thought a photographer could make so many people look absolutely beautiful. Todd Shapera was prompt, efficient and a pleasure to deal with. His pictures captured not just the face but so many emotions on those faces. He is an artist and not only that, he is one of the kindest people I have met in a long time. I would definitely hire him for any occasion where a photographer is needed. He is truly the BEST in his field!!!!

Todd was amazing! He gave us exactly what we asked for, was great in working with our vision, and our pictures came out fabulously! He was also just generally pleasant and fun to be with and had great ideas for action shots. We had no worries about punctuality or professionalism, and there wasn't a single snag in the wedding when it came to his part! If you can get him, I highly suggest you do...ASAP!!! He's not just a wedding photographer, he's an artist!

Todd has now photographed two beautiful events for our family. Both of daughter's bat mitzvahs were captured forever by an artist's eye. We feel so incredibly lucky to have worked with Todd. In addition to his incredible ability to catch the perfect, priceless moment he is also a pleasure to work with. Todd has patience for the old and young and has unbridled energy to consider the opportunity of an expected situation. Todd was worth every penny! Our wedding photographs are BEAUTIFUL & very unique. Yes, there are the obligatory, formal shots (which any photographer can do) of the whole family arranged just so, but there are soooo many other incredible, candid moments he caught (& which are a lot more challenging to photograph!). He managed to be everywhere at once, catching all the fun moments (even on the dance floor), but without ever getting in the way. I have been to several weddings since, & was really disappointed for my friends & family about how poorly THEIR photographers stacked up against Todd. They were distracted, slow to react, & missed so many great shots. Quite frankly, I have seen no other photographer WORK as hard as this man did at my wedding, nor have I seen anyone produce as beautiful a product. We also were glad we chose NOT to have our wedding filmed. It would have been unnecessary as Todd captured every moment (even some that we didn't see) beautifully.

Todd did my daughter's bat mitzvah in February 2010--when it was time for my son's bar mitzvah this past October I immediately booked Todd. He is extremely professional--arrives at event with ample time for set up. Captured all the great moments--very easy to work with. Very personal service - no factory approach. Very prepared, ready for candid as well as planned shots. Kept good mental track of shots still needed. Wonderfully inventive planned poses. NEVER interferred with the mood or happenings in getting his shots, and captured natural expressions. Excellent lighting. Caring, unruffled manner, which helped reduce normal jitters and tensions.
