Enchanting Elopement

Oh my gosh—where do we even begin?! Not only were Melanie and Grant easy to find, easy to read and easy to book, both were also incredibly accommodating to our situation and needs. Melanie was more than willing to make our short timeline possible and she made the process for everything so relaxing for us.

The day of, we requested a last-minute tradition be added to our ceremony that honored my heritage, and she was so on board and happy to acquiesce! She made our elopement so memorable and we couldn’t say enough praise of both her and Grant, who so sweetly provided us with pictures from our special day.

Don’t think about it even a second longer…if you want your marriage starting off in the most loving of hands, call these two beautiful beings NOW! We are beyond glad that we did.

The most meaningful and beautiful customized wedding ceremony!

Grant was a wonderful officiant. Thorough, thoughtful and just genuinely a kind and warm person.

Melanie made our ceremony very heartwarming

Melanie helped us throughout the planning process. She was very hands on and even gave us suggestions on how to make our celebration more meaningful. She also responded fast to emails and calls. You should definitely get her as your officiant ❤️

The Best Decision We Made!

Mel is, bottom-line, the BEST officiant I have ever seen officiate a wedding before. She spent so much time getting to know us and our love story! She included small, but important details in our ceremony that I would have never thought to include! She worked with us to make sure we had everything we wanted built in to our special day. She had us and our guests laughing, crying and celebrating in such a natural way! Mel jumped right in during our rehearsal to let everyone know how the ceremony was going to unfold. She allowed us to include special people, traditions and vows without a question! Mel worked closely with our vendors to be sure we had a smooth day and took care of everything! She reminded us to breathe, take in the day and to let our family, friends and vendors take care of everything! Her ceremony reminded us, so much, of why were were standing in front of everyone we loved that day! She embodied our love, personalities, interests and jokes into a memorable ceremony that she provided to us as a beautiful keepsake!

Right from the first meeting we had with her, she took the time to get to know us and understand exactly what type of ceremony we wanted. Biz officiated our wedding in October 2019 and she was friendly, helpful, and really flexible! She worked with us to create a ceremony that was perfect for us and did a fabulous job at the ceremony on the big day! We'd say we'd love to work with her again, but we aren't planning on ever needing another wedding :)

Biz was wonderful for our wedding day

Flexible and easy to work with

Biz was our officiant for our small, 8 person, park wedding. She was easy to communicate with, thorough and brought us extra kleenex! Our plans were a little all over the map and Biz was very easy going with our plans. The ceremony was a perfect length, Biz shared it with us beforehand to make sure everything looked good. I would definitely recommend Biz to anyone looking for a well-spoken, easy-going and helpful officiant.

Friendly & professional

Biz did a great job on our big day. She helped us plan our ceremony, including suggesting a wine box unity ceremony we just loved, and never would have thought of ourselves. She had our vows printed and ready, and the whole ceremony was short, sweet, and beautiful. Just what we were looking for!

My Tie The Knot - Wedding Officiant

Immediately after meeting Biz Kelly to discuss our upcoming wedding, we had no doubts hiring her to work with us for our ceremony. She helped breakdown the ceremony format & gave us so many great ideas on what to incorporate so it felt meaningful to us. It never felt overwhelming which was great. After our ceremony, we had so many guests ask who Biz was and assumed we were friends - she was so warm, engaging and well spoken. She made us feel comfortable and confident as possible going into the ceremony. We would highly recommend anyone looking for an officiant to seek out Biz!

Mel was wonderful, she moved out of state during our wedding planning and still returned to officiate our wedding. Instead of going the extra mile, she went hundreds for us. She was willing to work with us having a very customized ceremony including a handfasting. Instead of it feeling like a stranger married us, it felt like a friend.

We had the pleasure of working with Anna for our wedding ceremony and we were not disappointed. She exceeded our expectations! We didn't really know where to start in creating a ceremony, but Anna made this process a breeze and we had so much fun doing it. Anna was able to listen to our stories and learn about our relationship and she was able to even tell us what she thought would be good in the ceremony! Her ideas and input shaped our ceremony and were the perfect final touches. We had the most amazing day and could not thank Anna more for that. Anna was an absolute joy to work with. She provided great suggestions for additions to our ceremony, and made even little details- like my husband having tissues on him for me- special. Our guests loved everything she did and said in the ceremony. She was warm, personable, upbeat, and made our day very special. I can't recommend Tie the Knot, and especially, Anna more.

Anna was our officient for our wedding this past weekend on June 9th. It rained and we quickly made the decision to move our ceremony to our reception venue. She was positive the whole time and was confident that we could still have a beautiful ceremony like we were planning to have outside. And we did! She was so well spoken and our guests kept telling us how much they liked our ceremony. We were able to personalize it so much which made for many tears amongst our guests. The whole ceremony was very special to us. She also gave us a bound copy of the ceremony at the end so we can remember everything that was said. I would 100% recommend Anna and Tie the Knot ceremonies.

Biz Kelly was amazing. She was very flexible with us and was willing to do a video chat in order to get to know me and my now husband, since we were planning our wedding from out of state. She also helped us create step by step our wedding ceremony since we had no clue what we wanted. My family and friends loved her personality and the ceremony she helped us create. It was perfect!! We had a wonderful experience with Biz Kelly from Tie the Knot Wedding Ceremonies. When we first started looking for an officiant, we had no idea where to begin or what to look for. My husband and I are both nonreligious and we wanted to make sure that whoever we went with wouldn't force anything on us. We also had absolutely no idea where to start when it came to planning our actual ceremony. Cue Biz. During our first meeting with her, we felt at ease by her presence since she is very knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. She helped us start the planning process (even beyond just the ceremony) and eased some of our nerves even before we hired her. Although we usually "shop around" for everything, we felt very confident in Biz and booked her shortly after our meeting. Throughout the planning process, Biz was nothing short of helpful and had great ideas along the way. Our wedding theme was fairytale and since we love all things Disney, we knew we wanted to incorporate that into every aspect of the day. When Biz sent over the first rough draft of our ceremony, she included several Disney references (without us asking) and we were ecstatic. Fast forward to the rehearsal and our big day, she helped get everyone on the same page for order of [pre-] processional, gave us tips for our sand ceremony, and again, helped ease nerves. She is always very prompt in email communication, has tons of ideas, wants your ceremony to be exactly how you want it, and is a genuinely kind person. We are so thankful for her and cannot wait to see our ceremony when we get our video footage back. If you're looking for an easy-going yet professional and knowledgeable officiant, you can't go wrong with Biz!

We had an amazing experience from the very start. Melanie was very helpful with all of our questions, we had absolutely no idea what we were doing or what we wanted or what we should be doing. Thankfully she had all the answers for us. She was very well prepared, even if we were a little slow to figure things out. She was always prompt with calls and emails, meetings. Also, she is super nice! I can’t imagine planning our day with anyone else, because she meshed with us and our individual weirdness. The ceremony was wonderful, she helped tailor make it to what we wanted, including the hand-fastening, which was a relatively unique thing, and she knew exactly what we were talking about and I think we even managed to pull it off, or through I suppose lol. I highly recommend Tie the Knot, and Melanie in particular. Thank you again for helping make our special day especially incredible!

Our photographer recommended Tie The Knot Ceremonies(said they are the most memorable ceremonies) and we met with Biz and right away we wanted to book her. She was so personable and easy to work with. She's very responsive and knew exactly what we wanted. Her email system worked out so well for us and it was very easy to use. We loved working with Grant for our wedding ceremony. Grant took the time to get to know us as a couple and offered numerous suggestions/readings on how to make the ceremony fit both of our tastes. Grant wrote our ceremony with a few different readings/vow options for us to choose from and was always available for questions leading up to our rehearsal/ceremony.

Our favorite part of the ceremony was Grant's suggestions for using a tree for our unity ceremony with dirt from both of parents houses. Many of our guests complimented on how unique our ceremony was and how it perfectly reflected us. We highly recommend Grant for his knowledge of wedding ceremonies and personable nature, he truly helped make our day one to remember!

Anna was amazing from Tie The Knot Wedding Ceremonies! We could not have asked for a better person to do the job! She asked all the right questions to get to know us and what we wanted. She put together the ceremony and we loved it! It was like she knew us, even though we met in person once and emailed a few times. She was so calm and organized it really set the perfect mood for us. Tie the Knot Wedding Ceremonies did an amazing job for us. We had the pleasure of working with Melanie. We appreciated her following our wishes to make our ceremony simple but yet elegant, quick and to the point. She made us feel very comfortable with everything. We decided to not do a rehearsal and we literally talked about what we were going to do 30 minutes before the ceremony. Melanie made sure that we were ready and everything after that was "whatever!" Melanie officiated our wedding on August 16, 2014, from the first time we sat down & met with her we were hooked!! Creating a custom ceremony with Melanie was a perfect way to make our ceremony personable & in the end it was one of the top compliments we received at our wedding. Emails went back and forth for almost a year & we finally created the most beautiful ceremony. Melanie is fun, up beat & kept things light (exactly what we wanted!!) Melanie officiated our wedding on June 28, 2014. She was absolutely amazing! She took care of all of the details for us so we could enjoy the day and not have to worry about a thing. Unfortunately we had a huge downpour 20 mins before our ceremony started which was supposed to be outside. Melanie ran out to help the DJ get all of his equipment inside and got completely soaked :( But she came in with a smile, dried herself off as much as she could and came to make sure the groom and I were doing okay and not upset about the weather. She was so sweet and kept us calm through the whole process. She made the day so special for us and kept our spirits up. Even through the ceremony she reminded us to take deep breaths and made everything all about us. We absolutely loved her!!

First of all, money and time! Both precious and disappearing into thin air during wedding planning. WORTH IT! We invested so much money into the actual wedding, but this is the only money we invested into life AFTER the wedding. Time- Four sessions really seems like the perfect amount. The 90 min flies by. If time is a major issue, or even if you are already married, it would still be worth doing (and applicable!) after the ceremony.

Melanie? Well, she's the best! Sessions take place in her (tidy and clean) living room at her home - no need to feel apprehensive about going to her house. They've set up a great space. Her husband always vacated the premises for our sessions to protect our privacy. This was unnecessary from our perspective, but very respectful.

Melanie is so relaxed and comfortable. She is, of course, very knowledgeable and guided the sessions, but she also just sat back and let us have candid conversations. We covered all the important topics that you would expect (communication, finances, etc.) spending more time on topics that warranted deeper conversation. My husband and I did not feel like we were sitting down with a shrink for deep psychoanalysis. It was more like sitting down with a wise friend. We learned tools that we honestly use all the time. We value it so much, that we even begged Melanie to consider meeting with us once a year, or every five years!

The cool part is, even though we were a happy couple with a solid relationship before - we walked away from sessions (even if they were hard topics, or stirred up disagreements) feeling stronger and more grateful for one another. If anything, it solidified our choice to spend our lives together.
Having important conversations with a third party present, to offer perspective, is so valuable. Also, have fun with her, she has a great sense of humor!

If we had needed an officiant, we would have hired Melanie in a heart beat for that as well!

Grant was awesome! We really didn’t know what we wanted from our officiant, but he delivered it! Right from the beginning, he was so helpful in answering our questions and really helping us build the perfect ceremony. From the things we really didn’t have any sort of vision for, to the things we knew we wanted a specific way, he was more than accommodating and brought some great ideas to the table to make everything just right!

My husband and I had Melanie officiate our wedding, and she was AMAZING! She gave us so many great ideas for our wedding ceremony from the order of the ceremony, to music, to what to do for the "unity" piece... she was attentive and thoughtful throughout the planning process. We worked with her to tailor our ceremony to fit our wants and needs, and our "big day" turned out perfect! I had SEVERAL people come up to me at our reception and tell me what a fantastic job Melanie did. They all commented saying that our ceremony was the best wedding they had ever been to, and that it was also the most honest and loving ceremony as well. That was thanks in large part to Melanie and her ideas/direction, encouragement and attention to detail throughout the planning process. We highly recommend using Melanie and/or Tie The Knot Wedding Ceremonies to anyone looking for awesome and fun people to marry them who really know what they're doing. p.s. Tie The Knot also offers pre-marital counseling, which I HIGHLY recommend. My husband and I did pre-marital counseling through Tie The Knot and came out with a stronger sense of our relationship in the end. There was laughter and tears during pre-marital counseling, but it was well worth it and a journey I would tell everyone to take!

We worked with Grant and he was very open toward our want for a non-traditional ceremony. My partner and I are very uncomfortable with the usage of traditional wedding language like 'kiss the bride', etc, and Grant helped us create ways to help alleviate that jargon anxiety in our vows and entire ceremony. He also suggested ideas to make our ceremony personal to us rather than just another cookie cutter wedding. The ceremony set the mood for the whole evening, and it wouldn't have been the same without his care and originality.

We worked with Melanie for our ceremony and couldn't be more happy with how it turned out! Planning our ceremony was a bit stressful since we were trying to balance tradition while making it something that was unique and special to us. Melanie had many great ideas, was very flexible, and overall extremely helpful! For the ceremony itself, she did a great job with keeping the two of us calm while standing in front of a crowd (this was something we were very nervous about). The thing that impressed us the most how well everything was coordinated and came together. She connected with all the key players in our ceremony (musicians, readers, photographers, parents, etc.) and the whole thing from start to finish went off without a hitch! Many of our guests complimented how much they enjoyed our ceremony and how well she did! Highly recommend Tie The Knot Ceremonies!

Tie the Knot Wedding Ceremonies is truly fantastic. We had the pleasure of working with Anna, and I cannot say enough great things about working with her. She is awesome! From the beginning, it was important to us to find an officiant who could understand how we envisioned our ceremony, because we are a non-religious/non-traditional couple with no interest in the standard, cookie-cutter traditions. We were looking for a ceremony that was about who we are together, and our uniqueness that shapes our bond. A ceremony made for our expectations, not the guests'.

We definitely found this in Tie the Knot & Anna was very open-minded about our plans and really, truly listened to our ideas and suggestions. She helped us craft and customize our ceremony to reflect our fun personalities, our nerdy tendencies, and the love we share. She also took the time to get to know who we both were before we met and who we are today. Even though we had only just met in the months leading up to the ceremony, I felt like Anna really knew us and understood us as though she had known us for longer.

The day of the wedding was the best ever! During the rehearsal, Anna was completely prepared and made sure each person in our wedding party knew what to do. One of the groomsmen was a bit late to practice, and he was able to pick up exactly what was going on because Anna was so on top of things. Not going to lie, I was nervous during the rehearsal because this is when all the pieces of the puzzle start coming together. But after we wrapped up, I was completely at ease and confident the day of would be excellent. And it was! Everything went so smoothly, that it felt like just another rehearsal run-through, and then I realized, "Oh, wait, this is actually happening now!" And it was fun. Sooo much fun! I couldn't have envisioned a more perfect wedding. And all of our guests complimented us on how unique our ceremony was and how it was so 'us.' We totally recommend these guys!

I was introduced to Melanie by a friend of mine. My now husband and I met Melanie at a local coffee shop and from our "Hellos" we knew Melanie was the one that we wanted to share in our special day!

Melanie was there to help us make our ceremony exactly what we wanted. We spent numerous hours going over the wording, readings and flow of the ceremony. Melanie even helped Nick and I tweak our vows so they would be exactly who we are.

Melanie really got to know us and our interests. We were going to be doing a "sand ceremony" however when Melanie found out about our love for the outdoors she mentioned a "tree ceremony" where we could combine my parents and his parents soil from their houses to plant a tree at our home. We jumped at this because it had US written all over it!

Rehearsal night came and Melanie took charge so I wouldn't have to worry. She made sure everyone knew what they were to be doing and when. We even received a copy of our wedding ceremony to look back at when we wanted!

Wedding day - went without a hitch.... well at least with Melanie's help (helping even with last minute decorations!!) I was able to keep going with the flow. At the end of the day, I couldn't ask for any more because Melanie exceeded my expectations and I plan on telling everyone I know looking for an officiant to talk with Melanie!!

What can I say about Melanie, she was amazing. Melanie made the whole wedding party feel comfortable at the rehearsal, and got along great with the family. We had the pleasure of working with Melanie for our Ceremony are so happy that we met her. She did a wonderful job helping us prepare for our big day and even helped write our vows for us. Melanie was so easy to work with and made our ceremony everything we had hoped for. It was fun, personal and very 'us'. It has been a week since our wedding, and I continue to gush over just how beautiful our ceremony was. From our first conversation last year, I knew this was the start of something magical. Sure, our wedding was going to be great (it was our wedding, after all), but I just got the sense that Melanie cared, and was going to make it beautiful. Over the next few months she took the time to learn to talk us through the process, and help us find readings that worked well with our personalities (she also found a musician PERFECT for the event). She talked to us and learned about us and our relationship, and our ceremony was better than I had even hoped for. It was personalized to the word and was, in essence, a 20 minute reflection of who we are and what our relationship means to us. Melanie's joy in working with us and performing the wedding was obvious to all in attendance, and several family members mentioned how much they enjoyed watching her work. Despite the stresses of planning a wedding - working with Melanie was not only easy and stress-free; it was a blast. I've watched the video of our wedding twice in the last week, and I cannot get over just how perfect it was, and I cannot overstate how important Melanie was in giving us exactly the day we'd dreamed of.

My husband and I loved working with Biz from Tie the Knot Wedding Ceremonies. We didn't know exactly what we wanted from our wedding ceremony, other than wanting it to feel authentically like us. Biz provided guidance and advice, and thoughtfully incorporated elements that we decided to include. My husband and I did premarital counseling with Melanie. Since we live in Chicago, we made arrangements to do our sessions over Skype. I am so glad I found Tie the Knot wedding ceremonies! Melanie was great to work with. She was friendly, fun, professional and knowledgeable. I felt comfortable with her from the first moment I talked with her on the phone. She was able to offer everything my husband and I were looking for in an officiant. She felt like an old friend that we had know forever. She also helped us with premarital counseling and was able to put my husband at ease since he was not keen on the idea at first.
