Tie that Binds is the best at what they do.

If anyone one is on the fence on whether to work with Mekala - DO IT! Mekala is a talented artist who spends the time getting to know and understands her clients, is incredibly professional, and wonderfully kind. For our wedding we wanted to bring parts of our cultural backgrounds to life and Mekala did that with elegance and grace. Somehow, she managed to see inside our minds and bring our visions to life in ways we didn't know were possible. She helped us with save the dates, invitations, menus, wedding gifts, welcome bags, welcome sign and name card display. I wouldn't have changed a single thing.

Quality all the way around. Professional, great communication and everything created for our wedding was absolutely stunning

Mekala’s creations are stunning. Our guests were blown away, feeling like they’d been invited to the event of the year when they received our save the dates and invitations. Even the envelopes and vintage stamps were another level of awe. I want to frame one because they are so special and true keepsakes. Mekala was lovely to work with. She’s intuitive with her designs. She was so helpful, efficient and made the whole process easy and flawless. It became clear that Mekala takes a lot of pride in what she presents to you. That gives you the confidence that she will knock it out of the park. And she did!

Mekala is an artist!

Mekala's stationary work is probably the best I've seen. All of our guests raved about the invitations - more than a few people said the invites were the best they'd ever encountered. Someone even said they wanted to frame it. Mekala is incredibly responsive to feedback but to be honest we mostly just let her do her thing - her work speaks for itself. If you're looking for invitations, menus, save-the-dates, etc that really have a wow-factor (this is not standard stuff - it looks incredible and your guests will comment on it) then Mekala is the girl for you :)

Hire Mekala!

Our wedding planner suggested Mekala to help design our wedding stationery from invites to day of paper like menu and table numbers. If you want your event to look cohesive and stay true to an overall look or theme, I highly recommend booking the Tie That Binds! Mekala was prompt in her responses and brilliant with her design choices! She really helped our vision come to life and our wedding day would truly not have been the same without her work. Inspired, Joyous, Creativity!

From the first conversation with Mekala , my daughter Madelyn and I knew we were being heard and that my daughter and her fiancé were truly being seen. Madelyn wanted the invitations to reflect the care and detail we were putting into the whole weekend . She wanted bold colors and their dogs represented in the theme. Mekala designed a crest for them that reflected the lives and personalities of both Madelyn and her fiancé along with their pups. Mekala guided us beautifully, keeping us on schedule from the Save The Dates right though the day of , wedding guest cards, bar signs, menus and printing thank you cards. The entire experience was fun and Mekala’s artistry and enthusiasm made the whole experience a complete joy!!! The invitations are precious keepsakes we will value for the rest of our lives! I cannot recommend Mekala at Tie that Binds enough. First of all she was a dream to work with. My daughter (the bride) is a graphic designer, but was too stressed to do her own invites. (Also need to add that my other daughter got married one month before so we were all stressed out!) She literally found Mekala on Pinterest and contacted her. My daughter is beyond picky with font, design, etc. and Mekala worked side by side with her to make invites, and other wedding papers, menus, table signs, etc. exactly how my daughter wanted them. Her work was unique, gorgeous, and she even ribboned and stuff the invites and mailed them! We got soooo many compliments on those invites! And trust me, if my daughter likes it - they are good! Thanks so much again Mekala for making a stressful time less stressful, and for amazing work. You are truly talented!

Mekala was an absolute dream to work with from start to finish. She is SO talented, and took exactly what my husband and I wanted and then made it one million times better! Mekala did everything for us from our invitations to day-off stuff (signs, escort cards, menus, etc.), and we got tons of compliments on our paper goods. She is extremely talented and very creative, and also the sweetest person ever and very responsive. She was always available for a quick call. We had one issue with shipping and Mekala handled is so professionally and calmly – my husband and I were 0% stressed or worried. She is truly awesome and we highly recommend Tie that Binds!

If you are in the market for any type of paper goods for your wedding, I cannot suggest Tie That Binds more! Mekala was absolutely incredible to work with, not only with her beautiful designs, but in her quick responses, and she even took a call at 8:30am on a Saturday when we had a shipping snafu the week before the wedding. We were over the moon with the finished product and want to keep them all in a frame or something because they are all so beautiful. Thank you so much, Mekala for helping to make our special day even more beautiful!

I was not a bride that was expecting to care all that much about my invitations, but with Mekala's help our invites turned out to be one of my favorite personal touches of the whole wedding. I absolutely loved them, and 4 months after the wedding am still getting compliments on them. Mekala was incredibly responsive, and worked with me patiently through all my indecisiveness. She even went out of her way to hand-deliver a sample pack of paper to my house so I could get a better feel for the quality and weight of each paper. Above and beyond!

We have no idea where to even begin for this review. Tie That Binds is absolutely amazing! My husband and I are so thrilled with every aspect of all of our paper goods. Mekala took the time to get to know us (from the opposite coast!) and made sure that our invitation suite and other paper goods reflected our personalities, which is exactly what we wanted. So many guests commented that our invitations were the prettiest invitations they have ever received, and then were blown away yet again when they arrived at our reception and saw the seating chart, menus, name tags, signage, and all of our other paper good products. Oh and I almost forgot the beer labels! My husband brewed three different types of beer for our wedding and Mekala designed the most amazing (not to mention, freshest) beer labels, neckers, and caps ever! We plan to frame so many items that Mekala created for us and display them in our home.

We can't really express just how amazing Mekala's work is, and we also can't express how kind and thoughtful Mekala is. She is able to be extremely professional and personable at the same time. She always communicated with us (and our wedding planner and designer, who also loved Mekala) to make sure that we were getting exactly what we wanted, and was very quick to make any changes that we suggested. There really weren't many changes, and they were all very minor, as Mekala's work is incredible! We would highly recommend Tie That Binds for any service that they can help you with. You won't be disappointed. Mekala made the whole process extremely easy. Even though we were working with some tight deadlines, it never showed that we were in a pinch in Mekala's communication or in her work. Everything was perfect! Thank you so much, Mekala! Dean and I feel so lucky to have had you play such a big role in our big day!

My husband and I were putting on a very large, complicated wedding on July 25th, and everything was coming together smoothly, but there was one thing I had not figured out with one week to go until our wedding, and that was the seating chart! My wedding planner referred me to Mekala from Tie That Binds, and she was a saving grace.

Mekala put together 2 beautiful poster-boards listing each of our 300+ guests by name and their table number. She was professional, prompt in her response times, and gave me ideas and advice where I needed it. She even found a border that matched really well with our colors and our invitations. Everything was ready within a couple days. Although I would not recommend waiting until last minute (as I did) to figure out what to do about a seating chart, I would recommend Tie That Binds every time!!

I started working with Mekala about 8 months before my wedding to create all of our paper products, including invitations, welcome bag items, menus, ceremony programs, table numbers, escort cards, and more! I live in NYC and my wedding planner highly recommended Mekala based on her keen eye, her ability to create custom designs with you, and her overall extremely pleasant demeanor and business approach. I can't give Mekala enough praise and I recommend her services to anyone looking for their perfect wedding invitations!

After our initial phone call where I explained my vision, Mekala sent me three custom designs to review. All were so unique and captured the many elements we were looking for. We picked one to move forward with and then tweaked it from there. Mekala was so sweet in letting us ponder over the smallest things and in the end it made our invites more perfect than we could have imagined! After that, all designs Mekala sent to us for the rest of the paper products were spot on and looked just fantastic! It was so nice to have all of the items from the start of the wedding process to the end be executed with the same vision and theme.

Not only does she provide amazing products, but her compassion and willingness to work with you on an intimate level made the process personal and enjoyable. If we had a quick deadline, her turnaround time was above par. If I needed to call her up to discuss something, she was more than happy to figure it out with me. Her enthusiasm for our wedding, her attention to detail and her organization went above and beyond anything we'd expected. Mekala, thank you for helping to make our wedding the one we wanted and envisioned all along!

LOVED OUR INVITATIONS!!! The quality was great and the customer service was incredible! Mikela was super patient and understanding through my bridal panic attacks and even though I was traveling in a different time zone during the finalization she was super responsive.

I had several of my invited guests go out of their way to call to tell me and my parents that these were the coolest and most creative invitations that they had ever received and a couple of them even put it on their facebook!

Mekala at Tie that Binds was amazing to work with! She created beautiful programs, menus, escort cards and an escort board, as well as table numbers for me. One of the most impressive things about Mekala is that she was really intuitive about what I wanted -- which was incredibly helpful as these items were all done in the last few weeks before my wedding, which meant there was a lot of things going on and I needed someone that could run with a project. Mekala was the perfect person for the job! After an initial conversation about the style of my wedding and sending her a few inspiration ideas on a Pinterest board, she came up with exactly what I wanted. When I saw everything in person, it was all even more beautiful than what I had hoped for.

She was also very responsive and quick with her production time-- which is almost as invaluable as a beautiful product!

Mekala at Tie That Binds created the most beautiful party favors and signs for our wedding! She was such a pleasure to work with. She created stunning custom matchbox party favors based on a few details I gave her about the colors, theme, and feel of our wedding. It was like she read my mind, the first proof was perfect and very punctual. We LOVED our invitations and got so many compliments on them--they were exactly what we had been looking for: simple but elegant (and they were a great price for letterpress). Mekala at Tie that Binds put together a gorgeous custom stationery suite for our wedding day. She took our very vague ideas and created the most perfect design we could have ever imagined. We received countless compliments on all aspects of our stationery suite from friends and family. All pieces that she created (invitation, wedding details booklet, reply card and envelope, program, table numbers, escort cards and envelopes, and various signage for the guest book table and gift/card table) went together perfectly without being too "matchy". I could not possibly be more pleased with our wedding invitations from Tie That Binds. In addition to the fact that they had a style that matched our personality, Mekala (whom we worked with) customized everything to our exact specifications. The invites came out perfectly! Seriously, I feel like I've gotten so much wrong in planning this wedding, this feels like the one thing I did right. Without exaggeration, we have gotten more positive feedback about our invitations than any other element of the wedding. The materials were classy, the design was edgy, the color-scheme was modern... I'm telling you, they were perfect. I won't be having another wedding, obviously, but I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone who wants to wow people with their invites should use Tie That Binds. I couldn't be happier that I did!

I instantly fell in love with her designs the first time I visited her website. Working with Mekala easy & she went above and beyond in getting the details right for my wedding. I love how everything turned out and I will turn to her first if I ever need invitations or thing along those lines again.

Mekala was a breath of fresh air in the sea of rip-off "wedding machine vendors".. She is down to earth, flexible, creative, prompt and her prices for the quality of work can not be beat. Everything we ordered, coasters, sox, matches, wedding invites, RSVP cards etc... were exquisite and came out much much better than we could have dreamed. I refer her constantly to newly engaged friends and wish the wedding industry had more people like her in it. One thing I recommend with Mekala is to not micro manage her in fact, the more freedom you give her to do her thing the happier you will be with the outcome. I constantly joked with her that I don't tell my plumber how to fix my sink cause I'm not a plumber.. Why would I tell a Graphic Artist how to create an invitation..? I gave her the style, mood and direction we wanted to go in and she ran with it.. Never sensitive if I wanted to change something (which almost never happened) she is a diamond in a rough industry.. The multiple phone calls I made (at all hours:) never seemed to bother her and in fact I found myself coming up with excuses to keep hiring her because she was so consistently professional, genuinely friendly and my Husband and I loved everything that kept showing up at our door. In my opinion you would be a fool to go to any of the BIG companies for your wedding needs.. I don't know one that would rush an extra 20 invites because our invite list grew (as it does) and charge next to nothing. Thank you Mekala for making our wedding experience that much more calm, fluid and fun. You are a true professional!

A Tie that Binds brought our dreams of the perfect invite to life for our wedding. Through numerous phone calls and emails we were able to come up with invites that captured every detail even though we never had to meet up in person. Mekala was quick to respond and was able to get our invites out very quickly even in the busy summer wedding months. We also got a few other custom creations for a great deal(stamps and wine labels) that helped carry the theme throughout the wedding.

The Tie That Binds (Mekala) did a fantastic job with the stationery for our wedding (invite, RSVP card, thank you card, place cards, table numbers, menus, matchbox favours). I was one of those fussy brides; I didn't really know what I wanted, but knew what I didn't like. Mekala was fantastic with the design process and was quick to respond (all over email) and worked within our required time frame. We ended up creating a theme to the wedding that was beyond what I could even have hoped for. The cost of our stationery was very competitive and I had shopped around and found her to be the best value for money, and especially for letterpress.

The best part about dealing with Mekala was when I first recieved my wedding invitations. It was the first time I got REALLY excited about the wedding and they were just perfect. I was like a kid at Christmas time. When we sent the invites out we got so many compliments from our friends and family. They really loved them.

The second best thing was that I was living in Australia and didn't leave my house to organise the stationery - it was all over the internet. Not only was I living in Australia, but my wedding was in Greece, so Mekala was able to ship the reception stationery to the venue so that I didn't have to pack it all with me. I really could not have done it without her.

The wedding itself was much the same. The matchboxes were a hit with the guests and such a cool idea, and the menus and place cards perfectly fit the ambiance.

I would definitely recommend her to any brides to be, and have even recommended one friend of my own. She liked my invites so much she had Mekala do the exact same style for her wedding.

I contacted Mekala less than a month before my daughter's destination wedding in Hawaii. Everything was already planned for just family and close friends (only 13 people) but I wanted to add a few special details-- menu cards, place cards, and a wedding program. I have been a fan of The Tie That Binds since the beginning, so Mekala was an easy choice. I wasn't sure it would be possible to get this order done in time, but Mekala's quick responses enabled my dream to happen. The products that she delivered were of exceptionally high quality with every color, monogram, and detail to my exact specifications. I could not be more happy with Mekala's design expertise and an added bonus was her extremely reasonable rates. I only wish I had another wedding to plan!

Mekala was AMAZING! She worked with me to design beautiful invitations that matched the theme and color scheme I was going for. Working with her was so easy and I got tons of compliments on them! I love Mekala Tinnin. The master behind Tie That Binds, Mekala is a darling woman with loads of professionalism and talent. Throughout our design process Mekala and I exchanged easily 100 e-mails, nit-picking over each detail and bouncing ideas off one another. It was a fabulous process, and her work came out perfectly. Tie That Binds, is an incredible business to work with. Mekala the business owner is very professional but more importantly makes her customers feel like they are her closest friends and are the most important bride she has ever worked with. The attention to detail was phenomenal when it came to the many items that I ordered for my wedding from the wedding invitations, the match boxes Mekala designed, escort cards, the menu cards that mimicked our invites and the gorgeous and very unique programs as well as cute door hangers for out of town guests staying at the reserved hotel. Every item was brilliantly executed and any changes that I wanted made were done so in a very timely manner and with great pleasure. It was so refreshing to have options, we could choose any text, any color, and size or shape for all the paper products which was so nice and made a truly unique product. The cost cannot be beat I looked at invitations very similar to what Tie That Binds created and for letter pressed square invites with ribbon they were more than double the price Mekala charged. I would recommend her services to any bride... you will not be sorry!

Mekala at Tie That Binds created a custom suite of gorgeous letterpressed invites for our Southern California summer wedding. Mekala was able to capture and conceptualize our theme beautifully and created a unique design that stood out in a subtle yet elegant way. We were so impressed and pleased by the way our invites turned out that we asked her to create all of the stationary for our wedding. Firstly, WOW, What a woman! I have no idea how Mekala has the time to comply with every request, maintain a delightful attitude 100% of the time, and still find extra strength to create her wondeful and stunning invitation suites. She was forever patient, always introducing me to new ideas, and very reasonably priced, considering the amount of work she puts into everything she does. I could have easily had 'One of everything' from her site...

Lucky for me, I've started an Online Wedding Planner & Styling business for Australian brides, so now I can offer her suites to others whenever needed, and now I really can have one of everything :) She was in part, responsible for me taking this leap of creativity, as she inspired me through not only her suites, but her warming and can-do attitude. Mekala has been such a delight to work with. Throughout the entire process all of my questions came back with clear and timely responses, and she was very flexible in making her product match my vision. She has a wide range of products to offer, and is very professional with her businesses. All costs were clearly disclosed and discussed before anything happened. My testimonial for Tie That Binds Weddings and for Mekala is ongoing! When I began working with Mekala, I was looking only for one particular product for my wedding: the Love Story Books. From the very beginning, I felt as if I was the only bride she was working with. As Mekala began her design process, I quickly realized that her products were above and beyond what I could have hoped for. For my wedding alone, she custom designed the invitations, RSVP’s, direction and accommodation enclosures, envelopes, rehearsal dinner invites, escort cards, love story notebooks, drink menus, signage for the dessert and sweet treats at the reception, water bottle labels for welcome bags, my bridal bag and bridal shirt, bridal suite signage, monogram labels for gifts and other items and thank you cards. Mekala at Tie That Binds was a true pleasure to work with! She listened to all of my requests, questions, concerns, comments, revisions, etc. with an amazing attitude and creative eye. She was able to help me pinpoint my vision and make it a reality.

Mekala was a pleasure to work with! The entire process of working with her was positive, seamless and enjoyable. She is professional, creative, and on top of every detail and deadline.

As every soon to be bride knows, there is a ton of stress leading up to the day of, and sometimes brides can be fickle with their requests. (yes, I am guilty of that!) Mekala approached every request with a "can-do" attitude, and the fact that she loves what she does totally shined through in the final products which were all absolutely gorgeous and complimented on by tons of people at our wedding. Many who said that they have never been to a wedding with such amazing details.

This was our first time working with Mekela. She was highly recommended by our wedding planner Sarah True of True Event. We had an amazing experience working with Mekela, despite her living on the opposite coast. She was ALWAYS available via phone or email to make any adjustments along the way. I ordered my wedding invitations through Tie that Binds. My husband is from Mexico, and we wanted to infuse a little Mexican culture into our wedding. I happen to love little birds, and use them in decorating and in my own artwork. Mekala's "Talavera Blossom" invitations were a perfect design to showcase a little of both my husband's and my personality. Although they were a bit more expensive than I was budgeting for, this one was worth the splurge. They were personal, elegant and unique. Many people commented on how different and special they were. We enjoyed working with Mekala, and would absolutely recommend her work to future brides and grooms. We framed one of our invitations and have it next to our favorite wedding photo as a memory of this special time in our lives.

From the invitations, to the reception decor, favors & guest welcome bags... Mekala helped me tie it all together & I received lots of compliments! I found the company through Etsy actually, but so happy I did. Mekala's pricing was much better than many of the stationary companies in NYC and the quality was fantastic. I think the company is really growing, and sometimes I felt as though she was a bit overwhelmed, or I had to check in on things, but she's growing so fast bc everything she does is amazing. The final products were perfect and I wouldn't have changed a thing!

Mekala is extremely accommodating and has a great eye. We were glad to have someone who could help us narrow down color and style for our invitations, and she was very patient with us as we went back and forth before making any decisions. My only word of caution is that you MEASURE to see what size everything will be. We had expected the RSVP postcards to actually be "postcard" size, but they were significantly smaller. Still large enough to mail by USPS standards, but I wish we had known and possibly requested that they be bigger. That said, everything looked as great in person as it did online, we got a lot of compliments that our invitations were a great reflection of us and the kind of wedding we will be having.
