Gail is amazing and her cakes are too!!

Gail baked our wedding cake and it looked just like the pictures and tasted amazing couldn’t of asked for more. She also baked and delivered a grooms cake to our rehearsal dinner the night before. It was a Jamaican rum cake. She made it just like grandma would have even soaking the fruit in the special Jamaican rum my husband requested. Thank you so much Gail

Best cake around!

First off Gail is sweetest and easiest person to work with and her cakes are absolutely amazing! Hands down best baker in Sarasota and so extremely personable. Not only did I hire her for my wedding cake but also my daughters birthday cake and will continue to use her for any future occasion where a cake is needed.

Wonderful Experience

What a fun experience we had working with Gail Thompson of Thompson's Cakes. Gail baked and decorated two lovely and equally delicious cakes for our little beach wedding on 12-20-2020. Our guests were happy and so were we.

My wife's family has enjoyed Siesta Key Beach at Christmas for the last 35 years, so we will be ordering an Anniversary cake from Thompson's Cakes each year. She was an absolute pleasure to work with.

Wow!!! Gail is a Cake Goddess!! I cannot compliment her enough...from our first meet we were sold! Our freshly baked cake samples to her lovely caring personality, we hit the jackpot with Thompson’s cakes!! Best cake I have ever tasted ( and reasonable too!) and we had compliments all evening long on our cake. Thank you Gail, and keep making many brides happy in the years to come!!

Gail is the BEST. Seriously, she is the kindest, sweetest woman who worked with us for our wedding cake. Her cakes, pies, cupcakes, and basically anything she makes are absolutely delicious. It was so much fun working with her, too. She even picked up the flowers for our wedding cake and decorated it. If you are looking for a great tasting, beautiful wedding cake with an affordable price tag, talk to Gail because she is a one-of-a-kind!

We live in Illinois but my daughter wanted to get married at Siesta Key, Florida. Everyone we found was online, and we went by reviews. Gail was awesome to work with! I spoke with her by phone and through email. My daughter had a picture of a cake which we emailed, and Gail did it precisely. The cake was beautifully decorated, and deliciously moist and tasty! She delivered it to the venue, and all for a very reasonable price. I did wedding cakes for years in Houston, and feel I'm pretty much an expert, and I would recommend her to anyone that asks!

Gail was so wonderful to work with and she produced such a marvelous cake for our wedding reception. Since it was a destination wedding I wasn't able to taste anything prior and I just had to trust things would turn out great. The restaurant where we had our reception was in awe as well and took many pictures of it before we even got there. It was absolutely marvelous and I even managed to take the top tier back with me to Chicago.

We love Gail Thompson and Thompson cakes! We used Gail for our daughter's shower cake, groom's cake, wedding cake and cookie table. Her caring attitude and genuine interest in our family was so appreciated, not to mention her cakes and cookies are delicious. Not only do her cookies and cakes taste great, they look amazing too. She designed a cake for my son in law's Alma mater that was perfect. The wedding cake was stunning, as she designed it from a picture my daughter provided. We are so pleased with everything Gail did and highly recommend her for weddings or any other occasions.

You are dumb if you don't use Gail for your wedding cake. Seriously! She is so kind, gracious and talented. Her cakes are AMAZING. Gail is incredibly accommodating, professional and overall one of the nicest women I've ever met. She is full of joy and I LOVED working with her. Our cake was beautiful and tasted great! She also did a groom's cake that was AWESOME! Gail ROCKS!

Gail is an absolute delight to work with and her cakes are incredibly delicious. She does her cake tastings in a slightly unconventional way, (she sends it home with you!) so that you and your whole family can try the flavors and so you can stuff your face with a little less guilt :) My fiancé (now husband) and I chose the salted caramel cake with a fudge filling for our December wedding. We also decided to do a dummy-cake to decorate and served sheet cake to our guests to speed up service and to save some money. Everyone absolutely loved the cake and the dummy-cake allowed us to put our themed non-food safe decorations directly on the cake to achieve the look we really wanted.

Gail met with us about a year in advance to discuss our cake needs and wants. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she was able to make an even more gorgeous cake for our wedding. Not only was the cake beautiful, it was DELICIOUS!

Gail was an absolute pleasure to work with! She was very thorough during our consultation to ensure our needs/wants were met. She was accessible and flexible when our request needed to be modified due to a change in guest count. Her creativity is phenomenal, and the cupcakes/cake she made tied into our wedding theme perfectly. I really enjoyed working with Gail @ Thompson Cakes. She was unbelievably kind and helpful. I had no clue where to even start with my wedding cake, but she was more than willing to help with every step of the way. Well my husband says she's awesome, fun and a foody! Gail transformed someone who wasn't much interested in the cake into someone who anxiously awaited seeing (and tasting) the wedding cake. We were treated like family as we sat at the kitchen table where her children grew up and discussed cakes. She truly loves what she does and desires to make the perfect cake for you. It was fabulous!

This was the second wedding cake I purchased from this vendor and as always was deliciious and beautiful. It also had a gluten free cake which was as tasty as the wedding cake. She does wonders

Gail was fabulous! The whole experience from start to finish was delightful and delicious! Not only are her cakes lovely and beautiful to look at, they taste like a cake should taste on the happiest day of your life! I highly recommend them for any and all events you have!

Mrs. Thompson had the best cakes around. She has such an amazing talent and her prices were so reasonable. She was so sweet and was always there to answer any questions or concerns for us. She came and had dinner with us, helped us cut our cake and even served some of our guests. I would recommend Thompson's cakes to anyone who wants a delicious, beautiful cake that will wow all of your guests and she makes the experience so special and amazing.

I had an excellent experience with Gail at Thompson's Cakes, and if you want a delicious wedding cake, look no further! Guests continue to rave about my wedding cake (Italian cream cake with strawberries and cream filling) and say that it's the best cake they've ever tasted, and I agree! Can't wait to dig into the top we saved for our anniversary. Not only was the cake delicious, but the price was very competitive. Do yourself a favor and use Thompson's Cakes for your wedding!

Everything about Thompson's Cakes is incredible. Gail is one amazing woman inside and out! She went above and beyond what we had imagined, she puts her heart and soul into what she does. I had a couple ideas for the groom's cake and brought some props, she added some of her own and surmised my expectations. She is very flexible, easy to talk to and makes you feel at home. Also reasonably priced.

All I can say is that I LOVE GAIL!!! The cake tasting and meeting with Gail was one of the highlights of my wedding planning process. Gail is like a long lost family member who greets you with open arms and the most delicious cake you have EVER EVER EVER tasted. I brought my mom, aunt and cousin (aka the chocolate patrol) to the meeting and tasting and we were there for hours talking to her. All I know is that the cake turned out gorgeous, even better than I imagined, and my guests were asking for seconds! One of my bridesmaids even finished her cake and then came up to our sweetheart table and started eating our cake leftovers! Gail's prices are very reasonable and she will work with you to make your dream cake a reality. I highly recommend ordering a separate sheet cake along with your cake so that you can serve your guests two different flavors (who can choose just one?!!) which is what I did. So good and Gail is a sweetheart. Highly recommend.

One of the highlights of the wedding was the beautiful cake Gail made for my daughter....just the way she wanted it!!! This was the only part of the wedding that my daughter knew she wanted from the start and never changed her mind. From the minute she and her fiance took one bite of the Italian wedding cake with chantilly filling, they were both hooked! Gail creates a cake that does not sacrafice taste for looks. Everyone raved about the how delicious the cake tasted, even the usually quiet and reserved gentleman guests made a point to tell us how much the enjoyed the cake:) The best part of our experience with Gail, was that she really listened to what the bride and groom wanted and did not introject her own preferences. She so adeptly states, "it is their day and I want them to look at their cake and say it is perfect, just the way they envisioned it to be". Gail is simply the best. Two years ago, she created a delicious red velvet cake for my daughter's wedding. And this past week, she designed an exquisite three-tiered design for my wedding of white and chocolate cake. It was beyond beautiful. Gail is also reasonable for her top designs. I recommend her highly!

I could not have picked a better business for my wedding cake then Thompson's Cakes. The quality and service was outstanding! Never once did I worry about my wedding cake, the business helps us brides be a little less stressed. Gail Thompson welcomed me like family, she made the environment easy and enjoyable. Gail Thompsons Cakes are top value, the cakes are beautiful and also the best I've tasted. I chose a cupcake layer cake, and was delighted when I saw it. My guests also enjoyed the beauty of the sculpture at which the cupcakes where on and also the deliciousness. The detail makes me see the talent that Gail Thompson's Cakes has. I would recommend her business any day!

Gail is awesome! Her cakes are not only beautiful but delicious. She is a true artist. I liked the looks of very expensive, extravagant cakes and Gail made it come to life within our budget! I also had the idea of a vintage diver's helmet for my husband's groom's cake (we both love diving and the water). Gail crafted a beautiful golden vintage diver's helmet brownie with Reese's peanut butter cup cake (his favorite). It was one of a kind and my husband was so surprised. We loved the entire process of working with Gail. There is no other choice for weddings in Sarasota or the Tampa Bay area!

Gail made the cake for my wedding September 8th 2012. She was very friendly! I was very impressed she made it exactly how I had pictured it and the cake was delicious! all my guests enjoyed it as well. I would recommend her to anyone having a wedding!

Amazing wedding cake! Gail knew exactly what I wanted after minutes of talking. It was gorgeous and tasted amazing! She also gave us a box of samples to take home and taste! BIG plus! Love her! Looking forward to our 1st anniversary cake!!

Gail made the wedding cake for my daughters wedding on June 2, 2012. I gave her a basic idea and asked her to run with it. It was the most beautiful cake I have ever seen. It tasted delicious, not a piece was left over and our guests raved about the beauty and taste. Thank you Gail for doing an amazing job for us, I will recommend you to anyone who asks.

Gail is such a professional and her cake truly was scrumptious!!! My husband and I aren't big cake eaters, but we absolutely loved the cake Gail made for our wedding. She drew sketches and sent them to us so we could decide how we wanted the cake to look. I spoke with a lot of bakers who wanted to charge me extra because I wanted red velvet. Gail didn't charge me extra. The cake was so moist and flavorful. The detail she put into it really showed and we are so happy we chose to work with her.

Gail Thompson is absolutely amazing! If I could rate our experience any higher, I would. My daughter and I originally went to a different bakery to discuss a birthday cake for my daughters 16th birthday (75 people). The bakery was moving during the date we would need our cake, so they recommended Thompson's Cakes. We called Thompson's to inquire regarding her cakes. She said she was meeting with a bride in a few hours and she was in the process of putting samples of her cakes in a box for the bride. She asked if we would like to have a box of samples too. Of course we said yes. We picked up our samples and were blown away with how wonderful the cake tasted. We immediately told Gail we wanted her to make our cake. When we met with Gail the following week, she made the most amazing connection with my daughter and they began to design a cake for her party. The process of designing the cake was so simple. When the cake arrived at the party, we were all speechless. It was so beautiful. I would go on and on about how wonderful our experience was with Gail Thompson. If you want a beautiful cake that taste great too, you need to call Thompson’s Cakes!

We could not believe our cake when we walked into the reception. It was absolutely the most beautiful cake we'd ever seen. The set up was beyond anything we'd imagined and when we tasted it, it was truly delicious. She's wonderful to work with and listened to every detail we wanted. To have a cake created for us with a price that was well within our budget, blew us away. We would recommend her for any cake services. Fresh, delicious, and beautiful and she's truly passionate about her work.

I love Gail Thompson's Cakes. I actually tried her cake at the Lakewood Ranch Bridal Expo almost a year before my wedding. I loved it so much that I made sure to book her for my wedding cake designer. She sent me a sampler of 3 different flavors and make sure it was there before I finished my food tasting at IMG Country Club. The cake was just so perfect, moist, tasty, fluffy and creamy really everything you would hope for in a cake especially a wedding cake. We loved the italian white cake with the bavarian creme filling. It wasn''t until 5 days until my wedding day that we met to design the cake. But it was one of the most enjoyable moments because she was so laid back and so easy to talk to. We actually talked about other things in life than just cake. I left there that night knowing my cake would be made with love. I was so happy to see the cake on my wedding day. It looked just perfect and tasted amazing. Thanks Gail :)

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and DELICIOUS cake!! Gail was absolutely wonderful to work with. We called her up with about 2 weeks until the wedding, after my coordinator urged us to reconsider using Publix. (We really had our hearts set on a Publix cake because they are so yummy). She told me that Gail was even better than Publix *gasp!*. WELL. Gail completely exceeded our expectations :) The samples she gave us blew us away - we had a hard time choosing what flavor combinations we wanted.

Gail sketched us a few designs (she customizes her wedding cakes so it suits the couple and their theme) and we chose the one we liked best. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!

The cake was so yummy - i had guests telling me they kept going back for seconds and thirds because it was so good! I want to throw another party in Sarasota just so I can use Thompson Cakes again!

Gail was great to work with. Her creations are not only beautiful, but taste great too. We were about to use Publix for our cake, but thankfully were told about Gail. Her prices are not too much more than Publix cakes, but the quality is so much better. Gail basically can create whatever you can dream up. My cake was beautiful with intricate sugar flowers, even butterflies. Gail will treat you like family from the beginning. I was going to save money by going with the cake flavors that went with the special she had going on, instead of the other flavors and fillings that would of cost more that I originally wanted. To my surprise, on our wedding day when we cut into the cake we saw the flavor and filling I had wanted at first, but decided not to pay more for! Thank you Gail!

Let's put it this way, I love cake. There's cake that is ok (publix, local bakeries), there's cake that is good (funfetti) and then there's Gail's cakes. She has mastered the art of baking a cake. Upon finding Gail, I was considering having several aunts and friends bring homemade sheet cakes to the wedding so that my wedding cake would taste amazing. When I tasted Gail's cake I knew that I could get my scrumptious, homemade, moist cake in a beautiful form! She is both a master artist and baker - Not to mention a kind, sweet mother/grandmother. We will absolutely call Gail for our next event and I suggest you do the same!

First off, you will never regret having Gail make your wedding cake.. or any other item for that matter.

Upon meeting her, you feel like you've known her forever. She works with high end restaurants and even had her own bakery, so she is no stranger to wedding cakes. Super experienced and patient, she made my husband and I feel at ease during the consultation. I only wish I lived closer so she could be my go-to person for cakes! (Side note - I know many people that only email, but since Gail only checks her email once a day, I would suggest calling for anything you need)

The only unfortunate part (and it was not Gail's fault at all since she made more than enough for my guest count) was that the caterers cut the slices way too big and not all the guests were able to taste the delicious creation that Gail made. I can't wait for Gail to make my one year anniversary cake!

I already recommend Thompsons cakes to everyone I meet! She is the sweetest lady (like a grandmother) and is so easy to work with. Not to mention her cakes are out of this world tasty and gorgeous! She is a perfectionist in her work and I've had so many compliments on how beautiful my cake was! It was an original design and her detail is incredible. She is very reasonable in price to top it off! Love her!

Gail did a beautiful job with our beach wedding cake! She was very friendly when we met with her to choose our flavors and style, and both my new husband and I were very impressed by her work. We couldn't have had a more elegant cake at our waterfront reception! Our guests loved the taste and look!! The edible seashells were adorable!

Gail works with those who have lots of money and those who have very little like me. She gets offended if you do not like her cake as she takes great pride in her work. The process of finding the perfect cake should be done prior to meeting with her as she does not have a lot of time or patience for changes or indecisiveness or tastings, she is very busy. The appearance of her cake is amazing and she does not nickel and dime you to make the presentation amazing with lights, blocks, material, etc.

Gail had lots of cake flavors and fillings to choose from and was excellent at directing us towards something we would like. The cake was beautiful, just like the pictures we provided and tasted AMAZING! Our guests were a little bummed when they saw that wedding cake was the only dessert until they tried the cake. Everyone was raving about how wonderful it was! The only issue we had was cake wasn't the flavor we chose. We selected a white chocolate cake with raspberry chambord filling and butter cream frosting. What we actually got was an italian cream cake with the raspberry filling. Our guests did not know the difference and it tasted delicious regardless! Thank you Gail!
