We recently had our wedding at the Thompson Inn and it was amazing! Lydia and Erin were both very professional, organized, and friendly. Having the Inn, where our wedding party stayed, was a huge bonus. It made it very easy for everyone, especially when it came to setting up the reception hall for the wedding. We were all able to relax and enjoy the venue over the weekend. The overall staff at the Thompson Inn is fabulous. Each day we were brought breakfast by the nicest server and everything was delicious. The day of the wedding couldn’t have been any better. Lydia had everything running smoothly in the background and Erin was on top of it for helping us out with anything we needed, always making sure we were staying hydrated and having fun. We would recommend the Thompson Inn to everyone! -

I truly cannot recommend the Thompson Inn enough! I had the pleasure of having my wedding their last weekend and it was the most magical weekend of my life. The venue can accommodate so much and truly has the most delicious food. The team there is a well oiled machine and knows exactly what has to be done to execute the dreamiest of weddings. The Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse is an incredibly special place. We are so grateful to have been married at the venue on January 4, 2025 supported by the fantastic team at the venue. The Cyderhouse is breathtaking and was the absolute perfect space for our ~110 person winter wedding. I could go on and on about the beauty of the place but this venue truly has the trifecta of perfection: the venue is gorgeous, the staff are some of the most kind and helpful people I've ever met, and the food is quite literally some of the best food I've ever had. I couldn't have planned this wedding without the amazing support of Lauren. Lauren always put our minds at ease and everything went seamlessly largely due to her. Top stories and comments from our guests - the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD and the venue was stunning. Highly recommend this venue and team!!! -

We cannot say enough wonderful things about The Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse! From the moment we toured the venue, we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding. The entire property is absolutely stunning, and we were really blown away by how tasteful and beautiful the Cyderhouse and Inn both were. This place has all the charm of a classic New England setting, with updated and thoughtful touches throughout. We couldn’t have imagined a more ideal place for our wedding. All of our guests were blown away by the venue as well, and kept telling us how beautiful it was and how much they loved it.
The staff at the Thompson Inn was incredibly professional, friendly, and beyond attentive to every detail. Lauren - our contact throughout the planning process and day-of coordinator - went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly on our big day. She was always available to answer questions, offer suggestions if we felt stuck, and make sure we were comfortable and confident throughout the planning process. She ensured everything ran smoothly the day of the wedding, and we felt totally at ease in her hands. She is excellent at her job and was such a joy to be around.
One of the highlights was how flexible and accommodating the venue was with what we imagined for our wedding weekend. The space was versatile enough to accommodate our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one place without feeling cramped or disjointed. It was also so special to get to stay on the property at the Inn with our closest friends. The rooms at the Inn are gorgeous, and our friends kept commenting how much they loved staying there and how comfortable they felt.
The food is absolutely amazing. I still dream about the short rib, fish, and ravioli! Our guests are still talking about how incredible all of the food was - from the appetizers to the entrees to the desserts. The bar staff was fantastic, and the drink selection had something for everyone (the cocktails were so tasty!). They are also extremely accommodating to allergies - as we had one significant one - and they handled that flawlessly.
Overall, our wedding at the Thompson Inn was everything we dreamed of and more. If you're looking for a beautiful, well-managed venue with a team that truly cares about making your day special, we cannot recommend the Thompson Inn enough. Our experience was flawless, and we are so grateful for the memories created here. It is almost difficult to put into words how special they made our entire wedding weekend - it was just perfection.

From the ambience, to the food, to the grounds; us, and our guests cannot decide what aspect we loved most! If you’re looking for an all inclusive wedding venue, look no further. From rehearsal dinner, to wedding day, to next day breakfast, everything was perfect. And let’s be honest, catering hall food does not hold a candle to farm a table. This is THE place you want! -

What a venue! We discovered the Thompson Inn canoeing the Lamprey River and instantly fell in love with its charms and beauty. It was our obvious first choice when we got engaged. We looked at other venues in the area, but the Thompson Inn won us over with their professionalism and flexibility. We were able to work with the planners to create our perfect timeline which included a short ceremony, a two hour cocktail hour, and extended reception. The planners were very easy to talk to and brainstorm with, any ideas we brought up or unconventional requests we asked for were accommodated with ease. They made the entire process enjoyable and stress-free! The venue, from the Inn, to the grounds, to the Cyderhouse are just stunning and the food was to die for! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the inn with our wedding party and being able to remain on-site for the ceremony and reception made everything comfortable and convenient. -

This was the only venue we even considered looking at and it was absolutely perfect. I first drove by the Thompson Inn ~5 years ago and saw a beautiful wedding happening and I immediately knew that I wanted to get married there someday too.
In the fall of 2021, we booked the Thompson Inn without touring any other venue. Lori and Stephen were so welcoming and kind on our initial tour of the inn & cyderhouse. After we booked, Lauren, our coordinator, was so communicative and responsive to all our questions throughout the 2 year planning process (we got married in September 2023). She always got back to us so quickly with an answer and was so helpful at every step of the way!
At our final venue walkthrough, we met with Lauren and Arielle to go over our options in case of rain. I really wanted to hold the ceremony outside and we determined that with our guest count, we’d be able to hold our ceremony under the back patio awning if it rained and wasn’t too windy. This was the perfect solution and I felt much more at ease with our backup plan!
We held our rehearsal dinner at the Inn too! We were able to pick and choose dishes we wanted from our tasting and from the menus provided to create a truly customized experience. The Inn & Chef Alex were so flexible and accommodating to our vision.
The morning of our wedding, we had a delicious breakfast at the inn of fruits, pastries, coffee, eggs, etc. all prepared by the inn staff. The breakfast was a delicious and perfect way to start the day. The bridal party opted to get ready in the cyderhouse and the groomsmen got ready in the main suite of the inn. The bridal party had plenty of room to spread out while getting ready at the cyderhouse & we opted for the mimosa bar to kick off the morning which was an excellent choice. Throughout the day, Arielle was so helpful with everything! From helping me with my veil, to making sure my bustle was in place, she helped with it all!
We were lucky enough that the rain held off and we were able to have the ceremony outside under the oak trees. Everything was absolutely perfect. Our vendors kept commenting about how smoothly everything went throughout the entire day!
For our reception, we created a custom floor plan because we really wanted to have a large dance floor. The setup of the reception was just what we’d envisioned too! The DJ even commented on how packed the dance floor had been at the end of the night. The food was amazing and we had so many guests tell us it was the best wedding food they’d ever eaten (two relatives even told me it was better than the meal they’d had at the Black Trumpet the night before)!
Overall, the day was an absolute dream and was so stress free! The inn staff did an amazing job coordinating with all our vendors and making sure everything ran on time and without any hiccups. I’d highly recommend this venue in a heartbeat! -

Booking the Thompson Inn was hands-down the best decision we could have made for our wedding weekend. From the minute we stepped on the property to tour The Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse, we knew this was the perfect fit. The grounds, cyderhouse, and inn are each as stunning as the next. We wanted a “destination” wedding feel, having all of our family and friends in one place for the whole weekend, without having to travel far. The Thompson Inn let us do just that. It wasn’t just a venue, it truly felt like our home for the weekend. Every single member of the team was an absolute pleasure to encounter at every point in our planning process and throughout our weekend. Lori and Steve welcomed us with pure kindness and open arms from Day 1 of our planning. Lauren, the day of coordinator, made sure the entire weekend went off without a hitch. From the start she made us feel so at ease, being our go-to for any and everything, and was such an incredible person to have by our side every step of the way. The kindness exhibited by ALL of the Cyderhouse and Inn staff, was such a blessing. Haley (the front of house manager), Stephanie (the innkeeper), and Kyle (the groundskeeper) were all ready to jump in and lend a hand with anything at a moment’s notice. The chef was over the top accommodating to my food sensitivity, and just did an INCREDIBLE job on every meal (our guests have still not stopped raving about the food and the portions)! And the waitstaff even joined us for a song on the dancefloor…it was THE BEST. The whole weekend the Thompson Inn team was all hands on deck, and everyone was always willing to lend a hand wherever possible! I cannot emphasize enough the importance of this DREAM TEAM on our wedding weekend…because of them, our wedding vision was brought to life. As our weekend came to a close we realized how bittersweet it was…not only was our wedding weekend over, but we truly felt like we were leaving such wonderful friends we had made in such a short time here. So thank you, Lori, Steve, and all of the Thompson Inn staff, for truly making this wedding weekend better than we could have ever imagined. -

Having our wedding at The Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse was an absolute dream come true. From the time leading up, to the day of our wedding was perfect. The property is absolutely breathtaking, the grounds, the Inn, and cyderhouse, ALL OF IT. The venue was everything we wanted and more. The staff are so friendly and beyond helpful. Lauren, who is the wedding coordinator at the venue is amazing. Lauren made sure everything was seamlessly done and was a major part of our wedding day being perfection. When it came to the food, our guests were speechless. Rehearsal dinner, cocktail hour bites, and reception dinner were delicious. I could go on and on about how lucky we were to have our special day/weekend take place at the Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse. -

I had my wedding weekend at the Thompson Inn early December and it was the easiest and best decision we made. As soon as we toured both the inn and cyderhouse my husband and I knew we found the perfect place. On top of how pretty the venue is, the staff is absolutely wonderful. Lauren and Stephanie were so accommodating and helpful throughout the whole process. They both went above and beyond to ensure we had the best weekend of our lives. Alex made some of the most delicious food we've ever had and our guests keep raving about how much they loved their meals. The chicken & biscuits and short ribs were a huge hit! Having the inn so close to the cyderhouse made the day so much easier for getting ready and having our wedding party all in one place. It was also very nice having breakfast provided each morning to have one less thing to worry about, and of course Alex had amazing food available like maple scones. The venue is great for any season. We already can't wait to go back and visit in the future for the events they hold between hosting weddings. I can't say enough good things about the Thompson Inn and their team, I highly recommend them! -

The Wedding of My Dreams
We had our wedding at the Thompson Inn on 07/02/2022. This weekend was nothing short of magical. Every aspect of our experience with the Thompson Inn was spectacular:
The grounds, the food, the staff, the planning meetings, the rooms, everything. We toured the Thompson Inn in the winter while it was covered in snow - it was beautiful even then. When the wedding day came and the flowers were out I knew we couldn't have picked a more beautiful backdrop.
I loved that we had the venue to ourselves the entire weekend. From check-in on Friday, to the rehearsal dinner, to getting ready the day of and breakfast the morning after, we never felt like we had to rush out for the next event or cross paths with people that we didn't know. Stephanie and Lori made us feel welcome, part of their family and like we were the only wedding on their mind every meeting and all wedding weekend long.
Lauren was our day-of coordinator and she was fantastic. When our wedding day came I didn't have to worry about anything other than enjoying the moment with my family and bridal party.
If I could do it all over, I would pick the same venue over and over again.

We had our wedding 9/10/22 at the Thompson Inn and we couldn't be happier! The Thompson Inn is a personalized wedding experience! Having the venue from Friday - Sunday made the experience for us! It was great to have every aspect of our wedding occur on the property and took away the stress of moving from place to place.
The property is meticulous maintained. From the Inn to the reception hall to the grounds and it shows! There is so much care put into the maintenance and up keep of the property. Every visit someone was adding a fresh coat of paint or tending to the florals around the property.
The staff is beyond incredible! Lori and Stephanie made us feel so welcome from the start and answered our millions of questions. As we came closer to the wedding, Lauren helped with all the coordination and made sure everything happened exactly as we anticipated. Arielle was an amazing coordinator! She worked so hard and made everything happen seamlessly day of. She really made our vision come to life! We can't thank the team enough!
Guests are still raving about the food! Alex is a talented chef! He allowed us to customize our menu to exactly what we were looking for and more! The farm to table style and using produce that is in season was a huge plus for us.
We will never forget the incredible weekend we had here at The Thompson Inn. If you book your wedding here, you will won't regret it! -

Choosing this venue was the best decision we made throughout our entire wedding process. Lori, Steve, Steph, Jen, and all of the people at The Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse are wonderful, easygoing, and highly skilled at creating the most lovely New England wedding weekend, even amidst the pandemic changes we navigated together through 2020-2021.
Guests at our wedding literally described the setting and day as "idyllic" and we could not have been happier. From the peaceful New England farm / riverside setting and the gorgeous foliage to having family stay with us all weekend at the beautiful restored inn and having the easiest wedding flow across the beautiful, photogenic property, everything was perfect.
As icing on the cake, the food was delicious with big portions and a harvet autumn feel we were looking for! -

Lori, Stephanie, Lauren, Alex, and everyone else at Thompson Inn made our wedding absolutely incredible! The venue is gorgeous and needs very little decoration as the Cyderhouse and Inn are both beautiful. We were planning our wedding from across the country and had to delay twice due to Covid and the communication with them was constant and easy. Alex is an incredible chef who made everything delicious! We received so many compliments on how everything tasted all thanks to Alex and his team! Even the waitstaff and valets were so wonderful and kind. I couldn't be happier with my experience having our wedding at Thompson Inn (and so will you)!

I cannot say enough about this place. We had our wedding here this summer and it is absolutely stunning. This historic inn and barn have been renovated to the highest caliber. They didn’t skimp on anything and the styling is just gorgeous. For example: you don’t even need tablecloths for the reception because the tables are gorgeous themselves. They totally put their heart into this place and it shows. Everyone at our wedding was just awed at how beautiful it was. One of the things we loved about being married here was that we got to spend 3 days here with our wedding party. We checked in to our gorgeous rooms, had our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on site, enjoyed everyone’s company, and got to sleep right there. We all woke up in the same place, had a DELICIOUS breakfast and got ready for the wedding. It was just so special to get tp spend all that time with the people closest to us. The other thing that makes this place amazing is the people who work there. The owners are INCREDIBLE. They’re calm, incredibly hard working, thorough and so sweet and you just know they have everything absolutely covered. Everyone else is the same way, and you can tell they’ve hired people they knew would continue that vibe. The coordinators (Stephanie and Jen), bartenders, waitstaff, chef… everyone was so kind, helpful, friendly and did just such an amazing job. We really felt like they were treating us like family for the weekend and we didn’t want to leave when it was over. I HIGHLY recommend this venue and as soon as you go see it and meet them, you’ll see why. -

The Only Venue We Needed to See!
It’s hard to know where to begin when singing the praises of Lori and the crew at Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse. Truth be told, the Thompson Inn was the very first venue we saw. The moment we stepped out of the car and met Lori, we just knew it was where we’d have our wedding. So, we booked it on the spot!! There’s just such a warm, relaxed, at-home vibe at this venue – it’s hard not to feel like you’re family! We even jokingly started calling Lori and Stephanie our “aunties.” We were definitely drawn to the “stay for the weekend” effect of having both the Inn and the Cyderhouse at our disposal– it was like a rustic destination wedding of sorts! The details of both (Inn and Cyderhouse) are absolutely stunning. Lori and Steve (the owners) did an amazing job renovating the property and keeping the grounds immaculate- all of our guests raved about how lovely the venue was (including Grandma, a tough critic!!). Lori and Stephanie (site coordinator) were genuinely invested in making this the wedding of our dreams. Even though nearly every weekend was booked for them, whenever we spoke with them, they gave so much of their time to us. They knew every intimate detail of our event, making us feel like we really mattered and that no small detail would be forgotten! They tolerated our (many, many!) questions and requests with such patience and flexibility, even *before* COVID through a wrench in our plans. Like most brides, we were thrown for quite a loop with COVID, and were devastated when we realized that our original wedding vision would need to drastically change if we were to carry on. But Lori and the team did everything in their power to not only to remain flexible, and more importantly, to help us create something just as special and even more intimate than our original plan. Looking back, we couldn’t imagine our wedding any other way – and that was all possible because of Lori and her team. We are so grateful that we get to return in August for Part II – our reception! The Thompson Inn was the most amazing venue for our wedding. The location is perfect - close to our Catholic Church in Newmarket (2.4 miles away!!), to a hotel for guests (3 miles), and to small business / restaurants in Downtown Durham and Newmarket (3 miles). The local towns near by, really help guests to make a weekend out of the trip - there is so much to do and see! The staff was professional, thoughtful, and creative. They worked with us to truly make our Wedding Day dreams come true. Side notes: We have a unique extended family, lots of young cousins... We were able to use the room downstairs to host the kids 2yrs-16yrs for dinner - thus the upstairs still felt kid free. We had "babysitters" from UNH to guide arts and crafts for the younger kiddos. The large yard, kept the older kids outside playing games. We had our grandparents staying on the first floor of the Inn onsite, so when they were tired, they could easily scoot away. We also hosted a Wine Tasting in the Wine Cellar during Cocktail Hour. It was a huge hit with the guests. The Wine Tasting moved folks through the entire building, rather than staying only in the lobby/terrace. I absolutely recommend this venue. -

Just Perfect!
We could not be happier with how our day turned out! Our wedding being in December had a lot of questionable factors, weather being one of them, but Lori and Steve were able to pull it off with ease. They worked tirelessly to get everything ready and were on site from the very beginning to the last minute of the reception. The combination of the Inn for family and friends to stay at and the gorgeous Cyderhouse for the reception made it so enjoyable.
We had a couple of changes to the average wedding timeline so we were thrilled with how it was executed. Our first dance and entrance was done during cocktail hour in the beautiful bar lobby with guests looking on from everywhere. They were above in the loft area, on the stairs, and all around. For the reception we requested a very different floor plan from what the team was used to and it went incredibly smoothly from set up to dinner service.
They were able to recommend amazing vendors that we would not have found on our own. They had all been to the venue before so knew the ins and outs and contributed to a very seamless day (photographer, DJ, bus transportation…)
Not for a minute do you feel like you are having just any wedding, they really make it special for each and every couple. We 100% recommend this venue and team! -

I could write a novel about how absolutely wonderful this venue is. Between Steve, Lori, Stephanie, Kamini and all others that run the show here, our special day was more than we could have asked for. The grounds are absolutely stunning and cared for on a daily basis. Having the ability to utilize the Inn for two nights was just perfect and having just ONE wedding per weekend makes it feel like the world is revolving around you for a whole two days. The coordinators, both during the planning process and day off, can't be beat. They made our day as low stress as it could have ever been. I can't recommend this venue enough. If you have the opportunity to have your special day here, I highly recommend it. You WILL NOT be disappointed. -

There aren't enough great words we can say about Lori, Stephanie, and the whole team at The Thompson Inn! We booked in our wedding with them nearly 2 years in advance because we absolutely fell in love with the venue the moment we saw it. Lori was so helpful and communicative throughout the whole planning process and then Stephanie assisted us with all of the details for the reception. Our wedding day was beyond perfect - from the great weather, to the beautiful ceremony under the maple trees, a relaxed cocktail hour along the Cyderhouse deck and lawn, to the breathtaking reception hall. Oh and the food was incredible!!! On top of it all, the staff was SO nice and helpful to us and all of our guests throughout the whole day. We can't count how many compliments we got from our guests saying it was their favorite wedding venue they had ever been to so we were so happy we were able to share this gem with all of our loved ones from near and far. Our wedding was truly the best day ever and we have the team at The Thompson Inn to thank for all of their hard work and for providing their wonderful venue to us. We absolutely recommend The Thompson Inn to all future brides and grooms! -

Wedding of our dreams!
I cannot express how truly amazing our wedding was at the Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse. Lori, Stephanie, and the entire team were there every step of the way to make our day possible. I can’t speak highly enough of Lori and Stephanie. They are there to make sure it all goes smoothly, and that the day is exactly what we dreamed it would be. The Thompson Inn Cyderhouse was the perfect backdrop that we envisioned. The venue is picture perfect. The scenery, including the gorgeous trees and river, as well as the Inn and Cyderhouse are all breathtaking. We booked the venue before it was completed, and can’t speak enough to how truly beautiful it is. The trees encompassed the perfect place to say “I Do”. The porch provided the perfect place for cocktail hour, and the heaters made it perfect place on the chilly October day. The cyderhouse was the perfect spot to be introduced as husband and wife, eat and dance the night away. From the bridal suite to the wine cellar, the venue was the perfect place to have our wedding. Lori and her team were professional and talented. They are truly knowledgeable of how to plan and operate the perfect wedding day. Their coordination and execution made the day possible. They made our day feel so personal, yet used what had worked in the past to make the day absolutely perfect. Throughout the planning process they checked in and really did all they could to make our wedding day the best day. They were always there to answer questions and support us every step of the way. Thank you to all at the Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse for making our wedding dreams a reality! It was truly the best day, and would not have been possible without the team at Thompson Inn and the beautiful wedding venue they have created. -

Mary Sent on 07/27/2018We just had our wedding at the Thompson Inn (7/21/18). Lori, Steve and all the staff at the Thompson Inn were fantastic to work with. By the end of planning, Lori felt like family!! The Thompson Inn was the first venue I visited after getting engaged last summer. The property and grounds are STUNNING. I KNEW it was the one! The barn was not finished yet but we were assured it would be ready in plenty of time for our wedding. We had originally planned to use the Inn on the property (as it was supposed to be completely rehabbed and completed by Memorial Day 2018). Unfortunately, we found out early in 2018 that the Inn wouldn't be ready for the wedding. We were completely bummed - but luckily, there was a nearby Inn that was able to house all our wedding party (and it ended up working out just fine).
Everyone RAVED about the Thompson Inn - how gorgeous the grounds are, how beautiful the barn is and how helpful and friendly all the staff was. We lucked out as we had the PERFECT July weekend - the weather was beautiful with the sun shining, and the heat and humidity low. About half of our guests came from out of state and were truly stunned by the beauty of the Thompson Inn and NH. We also had our rehearsal dinner outside on Friday night and it was great! The food both nights was very good. We had kids at our wedding an they loved running around the grounds. There was plenty of room for them to play games or for guests to wander around. Many guests also loved the fire pit on property.
The staff did a great job of really taking care of the bride/groom/wedding party. We had a dedicated staff member at our beck 'n call before/after the ceremony. They brought us drinks/waters before/after the ceremony! They even brought us lots of appetizers while we took our couple shots during cocktail hour.
One of our friends is a wedding co-ordinator in DC and said that this was one of the best venues he's ever been to. They truly did an AMAZING job at the Thompson Inn! -
Jacqueline Sent on 10/16/2017From the minute my new husband and I viewed this space when it was a dream and work in progress we knew we had to get married here. Lori and Steve were amazing with everything. I've never met such an honest genuine couple. They went above and beyond through every step of the planning and the day itself. They made sure we were well taken care of and all the guests were having a good time. The food was to die for and some of the best we have ever eaten. This venue has so many wonderful spots to have photos taken and plenty of spots to pick where you want to be married. We got married under their beautiful maple trees. This venue is something out of a fairytale and truly magical. My husband and I had a perfect wedding day at a breathtaking venue. If you are looking for an amazing venue look no further and pick The Thompson Inn and cyderhouse you will not regret it. We wish them many years of success and if we could give more than 5 stars we would. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a perfect wedding !!

Jess Sent on 09/18/2017We love the Thompson Inn! We had a storybook picture perfect wedding. The ground are beautiful, the food is to die for (all our guests were raving and they make sure the newlyweds are eating :) ), and the rustic elegant feel is what we dreamed of. We had the best day of our lives and we owe it to Steve and Lori. Have your wedding here if you want a beautiful New England dream wedding.
