The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa Reviews

We got engaged in October 2021. Finding a venue for a wedding set for October 2022 with 50 people on the invitation list was difficult due to "Covid Catch-up". However, The Westin responded saying they had their Brittlebush Bar & Grill available so we planned Every interaction we had with our team there (Christy and Tom specifically) was excellent. They answered all our questions timely. The Thursday before our Saturday wedding, we saw that the forecast for Saturday was going to be rain all day. I called Tom and asked if he had a backup plan. Yes, for no additional cost our wedding was moved to their ballroom. We said our vows to each other in front of a beautiful lightning show. Everything turned out beautifully, thanks to Tom's awesome team pivoting at the last minute.

Our day was AMAZING at the Westin Kierland. From the start of our ceremony to the last person off the dance floor at our reception. The team from start to finish was amazing and on top of every little detail.

I would highly recommend Westin for your wedding venue. We picked the trailblazer ballroom which was incredible. The mountain views along with the golf courses made great pictures . All of the guest enjoyed the appetizers as well as the dinner. The staff was amazing and made wedding planning so simple. Ashley and Pietrina went above and beyond and always replied in very fast timely manner. They were so helpful with everything. The hotel also provided a room block for my guests along with a incredible suite on the night of our wedding. If you are looking for a elegant place for your wedding, Westin is the spot.

The Westin Kierland was the most amazing experience! Sally Hilow-Mackesy was incredible. Our wedding came out gorgeous. Our guests are still raving about the delicious, incredible lunch and our wedding cake! They upgraded us to a Casita. Sally helped me create a dream wedding within my budget and had so many ideas to help make it work! We had 20 guests stay at the hotel (family and friends from out of town). Everyone raved about the resort and most were able to get rooms for a discounted rate! We have friends and family that told us it felt like a far away destination wedding with tropical feel. They want to make the Westin Kierland a new summer tradition. I could go on and on and on about how happy I am with the service provided, our stay, our wedding experience and Sally Hilow. A PERFECT experience!

We had our reception at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa on May 6, 2023. Our experience was smooth sailing from start to finish! Christie Cline, the Senior Catering Sales Executive, was incredibly patient with my husband and I while we went back and forth on dates, menu selections, specific customizations, and changes in ballrooms. She was always prompt to respond and never made us feel like we were a burden when she was answering our many questions. Staci Stephenson, the Senior Event Manager, was an incredible help in the months leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day itself. She made sure to check on us personally on the wedding day, and was always cheerful and in good spirits when answering our questions. The rest of the staff were just as amazing and helpful, and I always felt like we were in good hands.

On top of the amazing service, the venue itself is gorgeous. Our guests were raving about our cocktail hour space (which overlooked the lake and golf course), and they couldn't say enough nice things about the ballroom itself, as well as the food and drinks (which was provided by the Westin). I loved every bit of our big day, and I couldn't have asked for a better venue to host our wedding!

Every one from Westin Kierland from room booking with Michael to wedding and reception arrangements with Sally to awesome menu from Chef !!! Our wedding prep and wedding day couldn’t have been smoother or more perfect. (except for the unexplained red smudge smack dab right thigh of my wedding dress...!!!). Thank goodness for White Out...!!!

My dream wedding would not have happened without Westin Kierland. They were absolutely amazing. We worked with Lauren and Nadine and they were so responsive and able to ease all my worries. There are multiple choices for where you can hold the wedding on the property and every choice is beautiful. The food was amazing, our guests raved about it all night, and their wedding package includes a cake which saved us a lot of money. They have a huge list of vendors for a bride to use and we booked almost of ours through that list and we were so pleased with how everything turned out. We got a great room discount because we did a room block so our guests were able to enjoy a multiple night stay because of the amazing deal they gave us. We truly would not change a single thing about our wedding.

Lisa the wedding planner for the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa was extremely helpful in answering our MANY questions and helping us plan our simple wedding ceremony over the phone from thousands of miles away! The day of our ceremony we were taken such good care of by the entire staff and everything was setup as we had discussed over the phone prior to ever stepping foot on the property! The view from the actual ceremony spot was perfect and intimate just what we wanted. The views all over the entire property were stunning, a photographer and videographers dream! I can't imagine having gotten married anywhere else!

The views are amazing. The staff was very helpful and nice. Everything was done as said. I would recommend it to everyone. Lots of nice ballrooms in different sizes.

We couldn't have chosen a better venue for our wedding. This was a destination wedding for us and all of our guests, so everyone stayed at the Westin and spent the weekend there. A lot of our guests are saying it is the best wedding they have ever been to, and a lot of that is due to the venue, and the fun that we all had the entire weekend at the pool and on the flow rider! Lisa in catering were so nice and great to work with. She made sure that everything was just perfect. The food was delicious, the reception site was beautiful, and we even had fireworks at our reception provided by the Westin because of the flow rider grand opening! The entire hotel staff treated us like we were royalty! I couldn't have asked for anything more. I would highly recommend the Westin Kierland for your wedding or special event. They did a great job!!

We had a destination wedding in Scottsdale and did much of the planning online, through emails and over the phone. My mom and I made a quick trip to Scottsdale to visit my “short” list of 12 ceremony/reception sites in the area. To be honest, I went into the trip with my heart set on one property particular property that had been the setting for my special family memories, trips and holidays. I filled our schedule up with about a dozen more to show that I was keeping an open mind. The Westin Kierland was our first visit over 2 days. When arriving to the property, I loved the resort feel and we were instantly greeted by Sally Hilow. We were instantly won over by Sally and it was clear that she knew the ins and outs of the property. We loved the amphitheater setting for the ceremony and it would set continue to set the Westin above other options as the 2 days of visits went on. The ceremony area had brought my mom to tears and we even went as far as revisiting the property at the end of 2 days to make sure she wasn’t just emotional about the process… but again we both loved the Westin.
Visit after visit to other properties, we commented to each other that Sally had set the bar high and we weren’t nearly as impressed with their coordinators. The first impression of the coordinators was important to me as I felt like it would set the tone for how well we would work together. From start to finish, Sally Hilow was in a class above the rest. She was detail orientated and a great resource throughout the process and always made me feel like our wedding was her focus.

Our time spent at the Westin for the actual wedding week was amazing. The property gave us everything we wanted to provide our guest; beautiful resort amenities, golf, pool, and great location in walking distance of restaurants and shops as well being a reasonable drive from Sky Harbor. An added perk was the lazy river that not only all of the kids loved but so did our adult guests. The wedding setting was perfect. Guests were able to walk straight from the ceremony site to the patio for a cocktail hour and into the reception area for dinner and dancing. Our group ended the night around the fire pit and it couldn’t have been more perfect!

We started talking about a return group vacation to the Westin Kierland before we even left. We loved it that much and would highly recommend Sally Hilow and the Westin Kierland!

The Westin was wonderful to work with! Everyone we encountered in the catering and events department was very professional and friendly. The service on both the day of and prior to the wedding was fabulous. It is true that the food here is amazing. It was definitely not typical banquet hall food and our guests were very pleased.
This venue isn't the best choice for a budget wedding. Also, keep in mind that the venue caters to conventions and large groups. You will not get the personalized service that you would at a boutique hotel. There are some gorgeous ceremony venues here and some great spots for photo opportunities.

There were a few hiccups with our group catering rate so make sure that you get that all sorted up front.

Sally Hilow is our heroine. She helped to turn a challanging situation into a night to remember. Our whole family is in her debt for helping to make our daughter's dream wedding come true. Thank you, Sally, and the Westin!!

Sally is a wonderful coordinator and is helpful in every way. The grounds and the hotel are beautiful and represent the true Southwest in a unique and modern fashion. There's a lovely spa and all our guests RAVED about the pool!

The Westin is beautiful. The ampitheater setting on the golf course was perfect. The ballroom walls are a challenge for decoration. The food was great.

The Westin Kierland is a very beautiful venue. We loved the resort including the relaxing spa, awesome pool and flowrider, beautiful ceremony site that overlooks the golf course and mountains and spectacular lobby that provided the perfect place for many pictures. Unfortunately, we struggled in dealing with our wedding hotel coordinator, Lisa. We were constantly waiting for replies to emails, most of which took weeks to see a response. We battled to get answers to our questions for many months up until our wedding. Finally, a month before our wedding, our day-of wedding planner got involved and was able to help sort out some of the wedding venue details. Even with help, some of the details of the venue were never fully sorted out or decided at the very last minute. Thankfully, the plated dinner was delicious and the ceremony/cocktail hour/reception sites were beautiful. Overall, we had a very nice wedding but if I had to do it over again, I would have picked a different venue simply to eliminate the constant struggle and stress it caused.
