I saw the Westin's Grand Ocean terrace online when researching wedding reception venues in HHI, and I immediately fell in love! It was my dream wedding location and the most beautiful venue I'd seen.
We had our rehearsal dinner and welcome party in the Mitchelville Gazebo room which has an outdoor deck with views of the resort for guests that wanted to get some fresh air. The cocktail hour was on the Oceanfront deck which is surrounded by tall palm trees and a direct view of the ocean, and our reception was in the Grand Ocean Terrace which has huge, floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Ocean that can be opened to allow the ocean breeze inside.
The Westin was so accommodating and very responsive. The staff members were so patient with our many questions and numerous emails back and forth. They were willing to customize anything for us, from the drink menu to the main dishes served.
And not only was the venue PERFECT, but the FOOD was just as amazing! I had so many guests raving about the food--from the appetizers, to the main dish, to the dessert and even to the late night chicken fingers and tots! Everything was perfect! I wish I could do it all over again! -

I stayed the weekend of my wedding in the Atlantic suite at the Westin. I have only positive things to say - the room was so magical getting ready in and not mention the photos looked amazing with the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the ocean. The suite was conveniently located next to all the amenities. The suite had a king bed, full kitchen and living room for all my girls to get ready in. I can’t thank the Westin enough for contributing to the best weekend of my life. Big shout out to Astrid Barth for making sure everything was special and perfect! -

The Westin is the perfect wedding venue on Hilton Head. We loved having cocktail hour on the Oceanfront deck and the reception in the Grand Ocean Terrace - our guests keep talking about how memorable the venue was. We were also very happy with the food - the chefs worked with us on our menu as we wanted to incorporate some Jamaican dishes for our families and it turned out delicious. The team (especially our event planner Marianna) at the Westin was wonderful and responsive and wanted to ensure that we had the most perfect day. We had a great experience at the Westin and highly recommend the venue for your wedding! -

We had our wedding farewell brunch in the Ocean Terrace room at the Westin and it was beautiful. Marianna from the Westin team was prompt and great to work with as we planned our brunch spread. I was able to customize the menu to exactly what we were looking for! The French toast addition to the buffet was a fan favorite, as was the omelet station.
The guests loved the food and the amazing ocean front views. The staff working the morning of the brunch were kind, patient, and helpful. Overall it was a lovely ending to our perfect wedding weekend. -

The Westin has it all - the dreamiest venue you can ask for in the low country.
The Grand Ocean Terrace is absolutely the most beautiful room for a reception and the Oceanfront Deck is the perfect coastal wedding venue without being too beachy (for a bride who didn't want sand in her toes).
Sonja was our coordinator and she did an incredible job of providing top quality service with class. She provided us with the information we needed in a timely manner and helped us stay on top of all the paperwork and decisions she needed as well. We had one minor hiccup at the wedding, and she handled it so beautifully and we are so thankful! She was a joy to work with (along with the entire service staff).
Also, the food. We still have guests telling us it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding (and some, ever!). I am 100% gluten free, and the chef modified the entire menu so I could eat everything at the wedding. HIGHLY recommend!
The ONLY thing I can think of that bothered me, is their chairs provided for the reception space are conference chairs (not the most beautiful), so you have to rent chairs or buy/rent chair covers as we did.
With no hesitations do I recommend the Westin for a coastal wedding venue. It really gave us the wedding of our dreams, and I am so thankful! Would do it over again if I could! -

I wish we could submit 10 stars
It's hard to put into words how perfect this venue was for my daughter's wedding weekend. From the first point of contact, our experience was exceptional. We were looking for an upscale venue that would accommodate a 3 day wedding weekend without leaving the property, and we hit the jackpot. The Westin/Marriott property was the most beautiful one we'd previewed and they had us at Hello. The grounds were flawless and landscaped beautifully.
We were very impressed with the length of time their staff had been employed. It was evident by the service given. Heather and Hanna were very personable, communicative, flexible and true to their word with delivering. They referred excellent vendors to work with which made for the perfect team.
We busted our budget a bit, however it was worth every penny and all guests commented on the excellent wedding food menu.
They offered multiple spaces included shaded seating areas, outdoor ping pong and cornhole, sand volleyball, covered cabanas with tvs and fridge, and a beautiful spa that accommodated our entire wedding party.
Would 100% recommend!

The food and coordinators that the Westin provides are absolutely amazing! We loved our menu options and the coordinator it was extremely helpful at making everything go smoothly! Obviously Hilton head is a stunning place to get married, but having an indoor reception space at the Westin was the best part of our wedding! I found the Westin & it had the coastal feel I was looking for on my wedding day! I wanted our ceremony on the Ocean Deck but unfortunately there was a storm coming thru so we had it in the Mitchellville room which kept the theme I was looking for even though we had to move the ceremony inside. We still had the view of the ocean with the coastal.feel. Our reception was in the Grand Ocean Terrace which is sooo beautiful I couldn't ask for anything more!! Even though there was a storm coming thankfully I did a first look & we were able to take all of our pics outside on the deck before the storm. We booked The Westin HHI for our intimate ceremony. It was absolutely beautiful! We went with the KISS package since we were unsure of how COVID would pan out. This package was the perfect fit - we stayed in the Port Royal Suite and our ceremony was on the terrace. This worked out perfectly - everyone was able to get ready in the suite and then just step out onto the terrace for the ceremony. Our reception was in the Mitchelville room and it was also a perfect fit. They even provided us a small dance floor! The staff - especially Heather, Hannah, and Marianna - were extremely helpful! They answered all of our questions, and were very straightforward in their communications. Our family absolutely loved the bar tending team that night as well. Kayleigh Sent on 07/04/2021Most Beautiful Oceanfront Venue, Stress-Free Wedding Day!
My husband and I got married at The Westin HHI on June 19th, 2021, and we are SO happy that we chose to get married here! We were initially supposed to get married last June during the pandemic, but we had to postpone our wedding a year. The Westin was amazing throughout that unprecedented experience; the team was extremely accommodating during all the changes that resulted from planning a wedding during a pandemic. We worked closely with Kristen Kilbane for almost two years in planning and postponing our wedding, and she was incredible from start to finish. I know how difficult it was for the team and the hotel as a whole after completely shutting down during lockdown, then re-opening but at 50% staff capacity, and then having to manage all of the cancelations and postponements of major events. It was an incredibly difficult time, but through it all, Kristen was extremely responsive, professional, and went above and beyond our expectations.
We looked at many different venues on Hilton Head Island and other islands in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina because we knew we wanted a destination wedding down South (we are Ohioans)! The Westin was at the top of our budget, but we were confident that the team and the venue would deliver on that value, and then some. No other venue came close to the wow-factor of the Oceanfront Terrace.
Because we aren't local, we planned everything via email and phone. We had never been to The Westin before choosing it as our wedding venue which was worrisome because I thought it would be more difficult to plan. Because the team was so professional, responsive, and offered great recommendations, the process was easy and we knew we were in great hands from the beginning.
What's also unique about the Westin is that they have so many different event spaces! We were able to host all of the wedding events at The Westin in different locations which made it extremely easy for all of our guests, and us! The service during the wedding weekend events was impeccable and our guests commented on how great the food was at all of our various wedding events. Everything was perfectly coordinated and no detail was forgotten.
I was truly amazed at how seamless and perfect our wedding day was. If you want a stress-free wedding day at the most beautiful oceanfront venue, choose The Westin HHI!
HUGE thank you to Kristen, Hannah, and the whole Westin events team for making our special day perfect. It was even better than what I dreamed it would be!

Unforgettable Wedding Weekend
Kristen Kilbane, Hannah Bozard, and the whole Westin crew made our wedding weekend the best experience of our lives! They are so easy to work with, especially since we live out of state, and responded promptly to all of our questions whether it was via email or simply giving them a call. From the food to the execution of all the events, we couldn't have asked for better service! My husband and I had our original April wedding in the FL Keys canceled due to COVID, and due to various circumstances, could not re-plan it with the same venue. Therefore I was scrambling to find another venue to start planning a new wedding from scratch when I came across beautiful photos of the Grand Ocean Terrace at the Westin. It was absolutely breath-taking, and I knew I had to see it in person. After seeing this gorgeous venue and talking with the helpful Westin staff, we booked for December 2020, and we are SO grateful that we did! We worked with Heather, and she was fantastic! She was super responsive and flexible with all of our needs. They handled our wedding flawlessly, even in the midst of COVID, which is not easy to do! Heather and her team worked hard to make our wedding absolutely gorgeous and smooth from start to finish, and they succeeded! They are 100% professionals at what they do, and they made the process so much less stressful than it could've been. I could not recommend them more strongly. Our guests raved about the food, the gorgeous room, and the venue in general! They even went so far as to leave us champagne and snacks in our room as well! We had several last minute drop-outs to our bridal party and guest list, and Heather was completely understanding and helpful every step of the way. Perfect Wedding Venue
We had the perfect wedding day at the Westin! Although in the midst of covid, the staff at the Westin was more than willing to work with us on rescheduling and rearranging plans. Through it all, the staff was extremely kind, understanding and very very helpful. We had our wedding at the Westin in HHI in Oct 2020. This was the best decision we could have made. If you're looking for top notch quality and service, you will get it at the Westin. My husband and I really wanted a "beachy" themed wedding without needing to actually have the ceremony on the sand. The Ocean Front Deck at the Westin is unlike any venue we toured, and we looked at many venues on the NC/SC coast. The Westin keeps the deck in immaculate shape and with the palm trees surrounding it and it being positioned right along the ocean, it's picture perfect for a coastal wedding. The reception space offered in the Grand Ocean Terrace is the coolest venue space we toured, it's absolutely beautiful and so incredibly spacious (which is awesome if you're thinking about covid still being a factor). The coolest part of the GOT is that the back wall is completely lined with window doors along the ocean that can be opened if the weather is nice. We were able to have the doors open for our wedding, had incredible weather, and had an indoor/outdoor feel with a stunning backdrop of the beach. We had SO MANY compliments from our guests on how beautiful the venue was. Not to mention the resort itself is beautiful and a great place to offer your guests to stay for a "destination wedding" weekend. Many of our guests chose to come early and we had a full beach day before festivities started on Friday, which was really neat. The resort is so large that they have so many venue spaces you can use for other events if you'd like a full weekend of wedding events. This also makes it nice for the fact that they have many rain back-up options. We were able to host our rehearsal dinner in a beautiful room at the hotel (Mitchelville) that has a big outdoor balcony, a Welcome party outside by the Koi pond with string light along the palm trees, and a farewell brunch. It was so neat to be able to offer your guests multiple events throughout the weekend (where they didn't even have to leave the resort) and also allowed us more time to spend with our guests. Lastly, I want to speak to the staff at the Westin. We worked with Kristen as our wedding coordinator through the Westin and she was fantastic and probably worked harder than any vendor we had to make our wedding weekend perfect; I felt like we were in contact every week for a year and she was extremely responsive and made sure she did everything she could to meet our requests and always tried to be flexible. The servers/bartenders/chef at the Westin also provide great and extremely professional service, not to the mention the food is INCREDIBLE! Lastly, given that our wedding fell during COVID, we were not forced to make any major changes with the wedding and the Westin was so flexible in making some adjustments to our initial plan to make sure all our guests felt safe. Furthermore the Westin is following their own set of strict safety measures to make sure everyone is as safe as possible including staff/servers wearing masks and adjusting how a traditional buffet style meal would be served. Our wedding was so incredibly perfect, I can't imagine it being better even before covid. if you want a truly outstanding, picture-prefect, and reliable venue who is experienced and will make your wedding day go off without a hitch, choose the Westin HHI!The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa's reply:

Kristen Kilbane and her team literally saved the day for our wedding. When our original venue canceled our event 40 days prior, Kristen and her team were ready and available to make up for it at the Westin. It wasn't even 48 hours after the initial shock of the first venue before Kristen had basically just switched all our original menus, seating charts, vendors, etc. over to the Westin. What would have been a disaster was made truly seamless. They were so extremely kind and caring during the planning process and the event day as well. The actual wedding day was beautiful, perfectly coordinated, and gorgeous. Did I even mention that the venue is PRISTINE and absolutely breathtaking?!?! We didn't even have time for a taste test but our guests RAVED about the food! Kristen and her team even left us some goodies in our hotel room to celebrate our marriage! Plus, the resort and their staff adhered to the COVID-19 protocol so our guests all felt safe during such a crazy time. I cannot say enough about our experience! If you're on the fence ... don't be! If I could give Kristen and her team more than 5 stars I would! My husband, daughter, her fiancé and his parents visited the venue Sep 2019 not having an appointment. I walked in and just asked for a brochure and said we would make an appointment and come back. The groups director came out with the packet and told us the wedding director was getting ready for a wedding that day but she would be happy to take us around. We immediately fell in love with the location and booked it for their 10/10/2020 wedding. COVID hit in Mar and there were some concerns as to whether this wedding would even be able to happen. We did have to restructure how we were doing the reception (changing from stations to plated dinner for social distancing, etc.) and Kristen and her team answered every question and addressed every concern. From the time we arrived a few days before the wedding it was as if the red carpet was rolled out for us. We had several events scheduled for the weekend, Bridesmaids Lunch, Rehearsal Dinner & Morning After Brunch in addition to the reception and we had the same catering team the whole time! The team was wonderful and the food was fantastic! The newly remodeled Oceans Room was the perfect spot for the Bridesmaids Lunch, Mitchelville was great for the rehearsal dinner and breakfast but nothing could compare to the Oceans Terrace for the reception! The spa facilities were also pretty terrific. From the massages (best I have ever had) to the wedding day hair and makeup, just outstanding. The day of the wedding we had questionable weather and there was a real possibility we would need to go to plan B for the ceremony. It was still raining at 2p when the girls were getting ready but by 345 the clouds cleared, the sun came out and maintenance was drying of the deck with leaf blowers. By the time the time the guests began arriving for the 530p ceremony you couldn't even tell it has rained. The Westin Resort is just that good! ;) There are just not enough words to express our gratitude to the the entire Westin Hilton Head team. Everything about our wedding was absolute magic. Planning a wedding in the midst of a pandemic is chaotic and Heather at the Westin made every moment easy. I had my wedding at the Westin in Hilton head and it was stunning. The refuse was clean and had great views. Kristen was my wedding planner and really listened to try to do everything I wanted. Best day of our lives!
We got married at the Grand Ocean Terrace last June and it was one of the best days of our lives. If we could do it all over again, we wouldn't change a thing! Everyone at the Westin we worked with was beyond amazing and so helpful in every way. We live in NYC and wanted to do a small beach destination wedding. and initially came to Hilton Head to check out a different venue. But when we came to the Westin and toured the Grand Ocean Terrace room, we knew this had to be our wedding venue! The room was absolutely stunning with beautiful beachy/modern rustic decor and when you look out the window, you have an unobstructed view of the ocean. We first met with Ashlee who was the Catering Manager and the fact that we were so far away planning this wedding, Ashlee was so amazing - from answering all my questions and responding promptly. When she left, I was a little nervous since it was so close to our wedding and Ben and I had a lot of different items going on. Thankfully, Kristen who took over was more than capable and was just as amazing. We had our rehearsal beach party at the private cabana section and had our ceremony on the beach. Everything went perfectly and we couldn't ask for better weather. The reception turned our beautifully, the food was amazing, the staff was attentive and we really couldn't have asked for a better day. Westin will always be such a special place in our hearts and we are SO looking forward to heading back down there in few weeks to celebrate our 1 year anniversary!The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa's reply:

She made sure everything went smoothly the day of. The food was phenomenal, we got so many compliments from our guests on how delicious it was. -

Claire Sent on 10/01/2012Working with the Westin's catering manager, Trish Luckenbill, leading up to our wedding was such a pleasure. She made our special day so memorable and provided wonderful service with a lovely personality. Since our wedding was a destination wedding in Hilton Head, we had SO many questions, and she was always there to answer them in a very timely manner and provided wonderful recommendations on vendors who did not disappoint! We fell in love with The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa as our wedding venue a year prior to the big day and knew it would be the perfect venue to tie the knot. Our wedding day far exceeded our wildest dreams and really was our dream wedding at our dream location. We looked at virtually every other venue on Hilton Head Island for our wedding and came away with the conclusion that The Westin's beauty far surpassed all others. Trish and The Westin made our special day so wonderful, so THANK YOU for all that you did for us - we can't wait to celebrate our anniversary there this time next year! -

10/10 Would get married again here!
My husband and I got married at the Westin in June 2021, although our original date was in June 2020. The Westin was very flexible with moving the date due to covid-19 and made our day extremely special. The venue was BREATHTAKING and all of our guests commented on what a wonderful room the Grand Ocean Terrace was. We originally planned for cocktail hour to be outside on the deck, but moved it inside due to the threat of rain, which our guests said was even better since the entire event was in air conditioning while looking out over the water. The other common compliment we received was how delicious the food was. We LOVED the filet and snapper entre choices as much as our guests did. The food truly was phenomenal. Overall, the day was fabulous and a breeze thanks to our coordinator Kristin for taking care of all details ahead of time. My only complaint would be the gift bag situation - the Westin delivers the bags you supply to each guest at night and not all our guests received the bags. I would recommend changing the policy to handing out gift bags upon arrival at the front desk. But such a minor hiccup in what was a fabulous weekend and wedding. We absolutely loved our wedding at the Westin! Even throughout Covid, in the end everything worked out. We didn't get to use the room we wanted for the reception due to the companies COVID policy, but they did their best to still make our wedding a dream. Kristen and Hannah are wonderful to work with throughout each step of the wedding planning process. The views are gorgeous, and the food is incredible. They made sure all of my crazy food allergies were handled, and made sure that everyone was able to eat regardless of allergy restrictions. The actual venue is amazing, and our wedding, June 4, 2023, was absolutely perfect. However, working with the Westin leading up to the big day wasn't always the easiest -- they didn't even set aside a time for us to do our rehearsal the day before, which we assumed came with reserving the venue for a wedding, especially given the price of doing so. Additionally, the check-in process was a nightmare for some of our guests as their rooms weren't ready for hours after they were supposed to be (check-in at 3pm but rooms weren't ready until after 6pm). Also, some of my relatives were double-charged on their cards for the rooms and had a really difficult/confusing time trying to figure it out at the front desk, ultimately resolving to just call AMEX and have them figure it out for them. Overall, this is a great place for a picture-perfect beach-front wedding but be prepared to deal with some frustrating service along the way.
