  Highly Recommend

  Abbie was the best. I am not someone who enjoys shopping normally and I was very nervous about wedding dress shopping. She made my whole group feel right at home, she was funny and laughed with us too. My dress was everything I could have dreamed of and more. The alterations process also went seamlessly. I had a short engagement (only 8 months) and they were so great to work with. Thank you for everything!

  Will do anything to help you find the dream dress!

  I struggled finding a dress that I liked, and of course found something online that no stores carried. Luckily I found Abbie and she was able to request a loaner dress from that designer so I could try it on at her store. She was so patient and let me try on loads of other dresses too so I could make sure it was the one. I'm SO grateful for how kind, flexible Abbie and the Wedding Dress team is. I felt so beautiful and comfortable all day long.

  Beautiful dresses, exceptional service!

  If you are in the market for a wedding dress or bridesmaid dress, I’d highly recommend you visit Abbie at The Wedding Dress! Abbie listened to everything I was looking for, and pulled all sorts of different dresses to help me find my dream dress AND the perfect veil. I was able to customize my veil adding a second layer to a single layer fingertip length veil, and customize the size of my dress for a better fit. She has a range of different styles and prices for her gowns. Abbie is also super knowledgeable about the appropriate timeline for ordering gowns, and ensured I was ordering everything at the right time for my wedding. After having some difficulty with alterations, she jumped right in and connected me with an alternative seamstress so my dress would still be done on time for my wedding. I had such a great experience with my wedding dress that I knew I had to come back with my girls for their bridesmaid dresses. I can’t thank Abbie and Shelley enough for all they’ve done!

  Beautiful Dresses, Great Service

  I was very happy with the service provided at The Wedding Dress in Portland, CT. I found a beautiful dress with them! When my original seamstress was unable to finish the alterations on my dress due to personal reasons, Abbie was able find a new seamstress and utilize her space for fittings to make sure the dress was ready in time. I am very impressed with her ability to make everything come together in time and make sure I was completely satisfied with my dress.

  Excellent Staff

  Abby and all staff at The Wedding Dress were exceptionally patient, professional and skilled at helping me choose and fit a mother of the groom dress. I had great fear that the alterations needed might not work, but the dress they specially fit for me worked out beautifully! I'm very pleased.

  Beautiful Dress, Great Experience!

  I had such an amazing time picking out my wedding dress, and I would highly recommend The Wedding Dress to anyone!
  
  Dress Selection: The Wedding Dress was the second place I went to look for dresses, and it was such a great experience. I had a general idea of what I wanted, but nothing locked in within my budget. So we got to pull dresses, no matter the price, to narrow down the style. The team pulled a dress from the back that was the exact style and right in budget for me. I definitely had that “bridal moment”!
  
  Tailoring: We worked with DORIS in Downtown Middletown to have the dress tailored, and the process was incredibly quick and easy. Her pricing was very fair for the level of work she put into the dress, and she was very transparent with her charges. She also offers steaming of the dress and veil, which was a nice touch!
  
  Wedding Day: Our wedding was held up a mountain during a record-breaking snowstorm - over a foot of snow and blizzard conditions on the day of our wedding. While I wanted some snow on the ground, I think this was more than anyone planned for. I felt like a snow princess in a fairy tale. My dress was so beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for anything better!

  Amazing dresses and experience

  I had an amazing experience at The Wedding Dress, despite it being during COVID times with restrictions. The ladies here are so kind and helpful, and made the process so fun and easy. There are beautiful dresses, and I felt so beautiful in the dress I chose!

I think a lot of brides probably have a much better idea of what they are looking for, but I wasn't quite sure. I thought for sure it would take a couple trips to different bridal salons for me to find the dress, but I found it my very first day shopping at The Wedding Dress. Abbie was so great to work with and made me feel comfortable expressing what I did or didn't like about the different dresses I tried on. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day and I owe a lot of that to Abbie for helping me find my perfect dress!

  Such wonderful place to buy your dress!

  Abbie and Lisa were both fantastic. They made me feel so special and really listened to what I was looking for. They were so patient with me and they found my dress! They even stored my dress for over a year during the pandemic. I cannot recommend them enough!

  The easiest process ever!

  Abbie helped me pick out my wedding dress almost two years ago. When we had to cancel our original plans due to Covid, she made sure to check in and made sure I had everything I needed. Yesterday I finally got to wear the beautiful dress I picked out from the wedding dress and I still loved it as much as the day I first picked it out. The personal experience Abbie gives you when trying on dresses is like no other. I always felt comfortable and confident trying on dresses and her feedback helped lead me to the perfect dress. Abbie, I cannot thank you enough for helping me find my dream dress.

  Amazing Bridal Shop

  The Wedding dress had an amazing selection of dresses without being too overwhelming! Abbie was excellent to work with, she made the shopping process so much fun! Would absolutely recommend them to anyone shopping for a dress.

She was so easy to work with and helped me customize an already perfect dress into THE dress of my dreams!! 😍 Since it was customized, I wasn’t going to see it until it came in.. but Abbie used her expertise and reassured me she thought it would be beautiful - and boy is it! She immediately called me when it came in to let me know it was perfect, which I couldn’t have appreciated more than I did! Her champagne sundays are a blast and I highly recommend you take advantage! Abbie had so many dress styles (for MOBs, MOGs and bridesmaids too!), you are sure to find a dress (or 2!) that you love..   After a terrible experience at another shop, I decided to call The Wedding Dress after I saw an Instagram post about a sale. I called and they were able to see me that Saturday. Abbie was super professional and kind on the phone. At the bridal shop I was treated with the utmost respect, Abbie took the time to listen to what I wanted in a dress and she did such an amazing job picking out styles for me to try. I ended up purchasing the 2nd dress I ever tried on (picked out by her!) She has an excellent sense in style and a wonderful way of talking to people that makes you feel comfortable.
  
  Lisa was excellent during my measurements. She is very down to earth and agreed to accommodate my crazy work schedule with an evening appointment during a crazy rainy day. She made ordering the dress very easy and carefree.

The customer service is also exceptional - Abbie was always available to answer my questions. She was quick to respond via phone, Facebook, however I needed to get in touch! She and her staff were also so helpful in finding accessories to go with my dress, getting any information I needed and connecting me with a great local seamstress. They were so kind and professional at all my appointments and fittings! Sending every bride I know there!

I fully recommend “The Wedding Dress” in Portland,CT, to every bride shopping for the perfect dress, do not waste your time or money at David’s bridal. I fell in love with every dress Abbey pulled and selected my favorite! They took me in ASAP and on a Saturday no less. Their service and prices were amazing for the high quality dresses they supply!   I loved this little shop. The staff was very pleasant and made me feel like I was their number one priority. They were not pushy and helped me find my dream dress. I been to other bridal shops with other brides and by far this is the best one. They are however limited what they do carry on the shop floor due to their size but I have no doubt if they do not have that dress they will help you find it.

  I seriously cannot thank Shelly and her staff enough for all the help with my wedding dress. I of course was the bride that found the dress they absolutely wanted online. Shelly was the only one in the area willing to bring the dress into the store from the designer. When I went for my first appointment I felt like such a valuable customer and like they already knew me. Of course the sample dress sent from the designer didn’t fit but Shelly had me try on a similar dress and used accessories so I could get the look of the dress that I brought in. I instantly knew that dress was the one I wanted. Thankfully I ordered just in time because it was being discontinued. I also went shopping for my dress a year and a half before my wedding and Shelly went out of her way and stored the dress for me till I was ready for it to go to the seamstress. I can’t recommend this shop highly enough and will be sending everyone to them. Thank you Shelly for making what I thought was going to be a stressful experience the easiest and most relaxing part of wedding planning. I absolutely loved my dress and all your assistance with helping me pick it.

I tried on multiple dresses at different stores and I just couldn't find it. On a beautiful Saturday morning, I showed up with my mom and began trying dresses on... After a few, I tried one on that Abbie had picked out, and that was it!! I KNEW that was my dress. It's the most stunning dress!! I'd totally recommend this store!!! And even after the purchase of the dress, they recommended a seamstress who was such a pleasure to work with (and didn't break the bank). Dora also made my whole wedding dress experience wonderful!

  Great experience! Found the perfect Mother of the Bride dress here after much searching. They carried a great variety of formal dresses not seen at
  other bridal shops. Lisa, my wedding consultant, was very helpful and honest. I was thrilled that I finally found the perfect dress and actually got to bring it home with me that day!!
