Their communication is excellent and my dress arrived much sooner than their given deadline, roughly 2 weeks earlier.
The quality of the dress is good. You can tell it’s not high end but given that their style is more boho, the dresses suit it perfectly. It’s SO comfortable, and you could easily add underskirts to fill out the skirt for a more formal look. It’s even machine washable!

The Wedding Dress Shop was the only store that I visited to find my wedding dress Abby asked for an idea of what I needed, she gave me about 6 dresses. I was able to find my perfect dress from the selection that she gave me. -

Highly Recommend
Abbie was the best. I am not someone who enjoys shopping normally and I was very nervous about wedding dress shopping. She made my whole group feel right at home, she was funny and laughed with us too. My dress was everything I could have dreamed of and more. The alterations process also went seamlessly. I had a short engagement (only 8 months) and they were so great to work with. Thank you for everything! -

I struggled finding a dress that I liked, and of course found something online that no stores carried. Luckily I found Abbie and she was able to request a loaner dress from that designer so I could try it on at her store. She was so patient and let me try on loads of other dresses too so I could make sure it was the one. I'm SO grateful for how kind, flexible Abbie and the Wedding Dress team is. I felt so beautiful and comfortable all day long. -

If you are in the market for a wedding dress or bridesmaid dress, I’d highly recommend you visit Abbie at The Wedding Dress! Abbie listened to everything I was looking for, and pulled all sorts of different dresses to help me find my dream dress AND the perfect veil. I was able to customize my veil adding a second layer to a single layer fingertip length veil, and customize the size of my dress for a better fit. She has a range of different styles and prices for her gowns. Abbie is also super knowledgeable about the appropriate timeline for ordering gowns, and ensured I was ordering everything at the right time for my wedding. After having some difficulty with alterations, she jumped right in and connected me with an alternative seamstress so my dress would still be done on time for my wedding. I had such a great experience with my wedding dress that I knew I had to come back with my girls for their bridesmaid dresses. I can’t thank Abbie and Shelley enough for all they’ve done! -

I was very happy with the service provided at The Wedding Dress in Portland, CT. I found a beautiful dress with them! When my original seamstress was unable to finish the alterations on my dress due to personal reasons, Abbie was able find a new seamstress and utilize her space for fittings to make sure the dress was ready in time. I am very impressed with her ability to make everything come together in time and make sure I was completely satisfied with my dress. -

I had such an amazing time picking out my wedding dress, and I would highly recommend The Wedding Dress to anyone!
Dress Selection: The Wedding Dress was the second place I went to look for dresses, and it was such a great experience. I had a general idea of what I wanted, but nothing locked in within my budget. So we got to pull dresses, no matter the price, to narrow down the style. The team pulled a dress from the back that was the exact style and right in budget for me. I definitely had that “bridal moment”!
Tailoring: We worked with DORIS in Downtown Middletown to have the dress tailored, and the process was incredibly quick and easy. Her pricing was very fair for the level of work she put into the dress, and she was very transparent with her charges. She also offers steaming of the dress and veil, which was a nice touch!
Wedding Day: Our wedding was held up a mountain during a record-breaking snowstorm - over a foot of snow and blizzard conditions on the day of our wedding. While I wanted some snow on the ground, I think this was more than anyone planned for. I felt like a snow princess in a fairy tale. My dress was so beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for anything better! -

Abbie helped me pick out my wedding dress almost two years ago. When we had to cancel our original plans due to Covid, she made sure to check in and made sure I had everything I needed. Yesterday I finally got to wear the beautiful dress I picked out from the wedding dress and I still loved it as much as the day I first picked it out. The personal experience Abbie gives you when trying on dresses is like no other. I always felt comfortable and confident trying on dresses and her feedback helped lead me to the perfect dress. Abbie, I cannot thank you enough for helping me find my dream dress. -

Abbie was amazing to work with!! She was extremely responsive and so accommodating from start to finish! She was so easy to work with and helped me customize an already perfect dress into THE dress of my dreams!! 😍 Since it was customized, I wasn’t going to see it until it came in.. but Abbie used her expertise and reassured me she thought it would be beautiful - and boy is it! She immediately called me when it came in to let me know it was perfect, which I couldn’t have appreciated more than I did! Her champagne sundays are a blast and I highly recommend you take advantage! Abbie had so many dress styles (for MOBs, MOGs and bridesmaids too!), you are sure to find a dress (or 2!) that you love.. A special thank you to Abbie for 5-start customer service. She went above and beyond to resolve an issue with a mother of the bride dress. She is compassionate and professional. We had extreme confidence in her and her ability to make sure the end result was nothing but perfect.
Her recommended seamstress, Dora, was a joy to work with. She is easy going, pleasant, experienced, positive, and does exceptional work.
We would highly recommend The Wedding Dress, and Dora!

I am so glad I found my dress at The Wedding Dress - they have an affordable and gorgeous selection with plenty of variety. The customer service is also exceptional - Abbie was always available to answer my questions. She was quick to respond via phone, Facebook, however I needed to get in touch! She and her staff were also so helpful in finding accessories to go with my dress, getting any information I needed and connecting me with a great local seamstress. They were so kind and professional at all my appointments and fittings! Sending every bride I know there! -

After a terrible experience at another shop, I decided to call The Wedding Dress after I saw an Instagram post about a sale. I called and they were able to see me that Saturday. Abbie was super professional and kind on the phone. At the bridal shop I was treated with the utmost respect, Abbie took the time to listen to what I wanted in a dress and she did such an amazing job picking out styles for me to try. I ended up purchasing the 2nd dress I ever tried on (picked out by her!) She has an excellent sense in style and a wonderful way of talking to people that makes you feel comfortable.
Lisa was excellent during my measurements. She is very down to earth and agreed to accommodate my crazy work schedule with an evening appointment during a crazy rainy day. She made ordering the dress very easy and carefree.
Thank you, The Wedding Dress, for making my experience memorable and enjoyable. I can’t wait for my big day in my beautiful dress! I really appreciate the time you have spent with me.

I had an infinitely better experience here than at one of the huge Kleinfeld-esque stores, and didn't have to sacrifice selection. Shelley and Lisa were so great to work with throughout the process, from my first appointment through my last fitting. My wedding was in Washington D.C., where I also live, so I had very limited options for fitting appointments. The Wedding Dress accommodated me in every way, even fitting me in for appointments when they don't typically schedule fittings. My dress came in on time, was absolutely stunning, and was altered perfectly and quickly. I even received a $150 single-item credit for purchasing my dress during my first visit, which I used to buy a veil. The Wedding Dress made my dress-buying experience everything I'd hoped for, and I highly recommend them! -

Rachel Sent on 02/12/2018This was my first dress shopping experience, and it was a great one. I was visiting my mom and this store is near where she lives. Even though I didn't end up purchasing a dress, my consultant Nicole was so friendly, nice and not pushy at all. She worked within my budget and she gave me several super helpful tips on the wedding day and dresses in general. When I tried on a dress I loved but felt something was missing, she suggested the addition of a certain fabric which totally made the difference. The only weird thing was I had to go through the racks myself and pull the first set of dresses to try on, which I was a little overwhelmed by, so I was happy to have my sister and mom there to help. Also, I am a size 10/12 and most of the samples were 1 or 2 sizes too small for me I so we couldn't get the full idea of how something would look in the back because things wouldn't zip. I still wish I lived closer so I could make my final purchase from this store. -

Amanda Sent on 01/07/2013This is a rather small bridal shop which makes it very personal. The main staff is wonderful to work with and very attentive to their brides needs. A word of caution if you are ordering a dress with any changes from the original as I did. When my dress finally came in it was not what I had ordered and it took much convincing of the woman working with me that day to actually get my order and check it. She kept insisting it was right and I just didn't remember. When she finally got the order and realized their was indeed an error the main staff took over and was very helpful in sending my dress back to the designer to have it corrected. In the end it turned out beautiful and was exactly what I imagined.
