Hidden Gem
The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs is such a hidden gem! This was the first venue we looked at, and booked shortly after. Cait was personable and quick to respond to any email or text. The venue itself is tucked away from any traffic/noise and the layout itself flows perfectly. Having a venue that has a gorgeous backup ceremony space is a huge plus as well. Not many of our guests have even heard of the Washington before, but they were all impressed with its beauty and history. We couldn't have picked a better venue. Thank you so much to Cait, Beatrice, and the rest of the HYS team. Our wedding was a dream come true!-

HYS Review for May 2023 Wedding
My wedding reception at HYS was amazing. I grew up in the area and was familiar with HYS, but had never attended any formal functions in the building. Cait was wonderful to work with, very organized and responsive, and all the vendors (cake, catering, DJ, etc) she suggested were fantastic too! She coordinated with us and allowed us to drop off our decorations earlier in the week since we would be doing our ceremony at a church and we had friends set up the reception day of. Even with the max of 150 guests, it didn’t feel as crowded as I thought, which was great because I was worried everyone would be squished! Many of my family friends still tell me it was the best wedding they have been to!-

A Perfectly Picturesque Wedding Venue
The venue itself was nothing short of amazing, providing a picturesque backdrop for our special day. Rich in history, our guests were blown away by the uniqueness of this hidden gem. Cait, the venue manager at Historic Yellow Springs, played such a pivotal role in making our wedding unforgettable. Her assistance and guidance were invaluable at every stage of the process. She was always ready and willing to answer any questions we had along the planning process, which helped keep everything so stress-free. Cait's expertise and dedication really enhanced the overall experience, and we are grateful for her support in creating a truly memorable day at Historic Yellow Springs. -

Perfect, charming venue!
We could not have asked for a better venue than The Washington. The property is so, so gorgeous and meticulously maintained, and I love that the history of the site is incorporated in the decor. The location was stunning and comfortable for our guests, and we loved how helpful and communicative the staff was. They made our wedding flow seamlessly and were so accommodating and helpful when it came to all of the little things that popped up during planning. -

Our Romantic, Whimsical Wedding
We had our wedding at The Washington this June. The venue is such a beautiful hidden gem- rustic but not a barn, has a whimsical garden feel but also historic charm. We had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony, indoor/outdoor cocktail hour and indoor reception, which was a perfect mix. Cait at the Washington was so sweet and easy to work with, and the day went seamlessly. You can choose your caterer which is also great for those with varied preferences. Photos (while breathtaking) simply do not do it justice- there are so many beautiful spots for special moments and photos. We wouldn’t change a thing and highly recommend The Washington for your big day! -

Amazing wedding at a beautiful venue
We had our ~110 person wedding at the Washington in April 2023 and it was everything we imagined it would be. Even with unexpected weather, we were able to easily transition to a beautiful indoor wedding and still use the outdoor covered porch for cocktail hour. Caitlin and Ann were great to work with and guided us through the planning process step by step. I couldn't imagine a better venue for our wedding. -

You have to get married here!
“How did you find this place!!!” Was the most asked question by our guests during/after our wedding at The Washington. Our friends and family were blown away by the beauty and uniqueness The Washington had to offer from the moment they arrived.
What my husband and I loved most and ultimately was the deciding factor for us to choose this venue was the flow and layout is just so practical. We got married at the tree so guests started at the top of the hill, worked their way down to the fountain for cocktail hour, then into the reception space. Each beautiful area of The Washington had its own moment to shine and there was a clear flow to where we started the night and where it ended.
Cait and Beatrice were so amazing to work with and made the process so easy. We would choose The Washington a million times over! -

Fantastic Venue & Team
I can't say enough good things about Cait and the entire team at The Washington. We were one of her first weddings had had to cancel our wedding back in April 2020 and through the entire process and mulitple reschedule Cait showed nothing but the utmost patience and professionalism. The buidling and grounds are beautiful and trust me when online pictures don't do it justice it's even more beautiful in person and of course your special day. -

The Absolute Best!
The Washington was THE perfect location for our wedding. Everything about it was magic. From the communication with Caitlin and Brittany down to the efficiency of the on-site staff the day of. Everything ran smoothly because of them. The location itself is STUNNING; rich in history and historic architectural details, beautiful landscaping and gardens. It was the most perfect place to be on such an important, special day and it made for some enthralling photos. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.-

Finally Had Our Perfect Day!
My husband and I originally started planning our wedding and booked the Washington at Historic Yellow Springs as our venue in March 2019 for a spring 2020 wedding. Flash forward 2.5 years and 3 rescheduled wedding dates later (due to COVID), we finally had our perfect wedding day on September 10, 2021.
I can not say enough good things about Caitlin and Brittany at the Washington. Caitlin kept us updated through the entire process, and was as accommodating as possible while we tried to figure out new wedding dates for the safety of our guests. When our big day finally came, Brittany could not have been a more reassuring, calming presence. She was great directing the space during set-up and keeping everything organized for our ceremony.
The grounds and event space at the Washington are insanely beautiful and our wedding guests are still raving about it almost a month later. We could not be happier with our wedding at the Washington and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get married in the area!-

Beautiful venue and amazing customer service!
We cannot express enough how pleased we have been working with Caitlin and the Washington during this crazy time. She has been thoughtful, considerate, flexible and all around supportive of making the best possible outcome for us.
It's easy to be accommodating when there isn't a pandemic; they have truly risen above the rest in their efforts to reasonably reschedule and see to our needs. If this is how the Washington conducts themselves during an ever-changing and restrictive pandemic, this is a testament to their character, passion and professionalism.
Their willingness to adapt and make our day the best it could be, in spite of the restrictions meant a lot to us and our limited guests.
Top notch organization with top notch people; a standard of service above the rest. Thank you so much for helping in the most sincere way to make our day special and we look forward to working with you in the future!

The Perfect Place
I am so thankful to have had my wedding at The Washington. It is absolutely beautiful. The gardens and porch are probably my favorite parts :) We got married in June so everything was so bright and lush. From day one Caitlin was a dream to work with. Super responsive, friendly, and helpful with any questions I had. Thank you for everything you did to make our special day so perfect! I would recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for a beautiful outdoor space for your ceremony/cocktail hour/photos, great flow, and tons of history.-

Absolutely Amazing
The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs and working with Cait was a phenomenal experience that I would choose again in a heartbeat. The HYS is a beautiful venue with a vintage, classic, boho like vibe. The grounds and the buildings are beautiful and it was a perfect day working with a perfect team. Cait answered all my questions and concerns and was so patient and helpful with the whole process. I would 10/10 recommend this venue and working with Cait. -

Great venue!
I was so excited when I toured The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs. It is truly a hidden treasure of wedding venues in the Philadelphia area. We got married in May and it was the most beautiful outdoor ceremony set in the garden around the fountain. Cait was super responsive and answered all of our questions along the way. We used Catering by Rich and loved the food and service that they provided. Our photos came out beautifully because it is such a unique, vibrant, and wonderful place. They also provide an option for indoor ceremonies if needed. The string lights along the porch outside are what really won me over. Would highly recommend! -

May 2019 Wedding
The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs had everything we were looking for in a wedding venue. We wanted a romantic location with character that allowed for an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. The Washington fit that 100%. Throughout the day, our photographer kept remarking how beautiful the setting was and how many locations there were for photos. One of the most important things and deciding factors for us when it came to selecting a venue was the responsiveness of the venue's coordinator. Caitlin went above and beyond from the first email we sent requesting a tour. She always responded the same day and was great at recommending other vendors and sharing ideas with us. When we arrived the day of the wedding, they had staff working on the gardens to make sure everything was picture-perfect and ready to go. The Washington truly made our wedding day magical and unforgettable. Also, for my fellow brides, their bridal suite is phenomenal.-

Perfect Venue
We couldn’t be happier with our choice in venue!! The grounds and indoor spaces were beautiful. We loved the large bridal suite to get ready before the ceremony and reception. The ceremony by the tree was the perfect natural and beautiful backdrop. The reception space fit our 100 guests perfectly and looked gorgeous with minimal additions. Caitlin was amazing to work with — she was so responsive, helpful, and invested in our wedding day. The entire process was seamless, and we could not be happier with how our wedding day turned out. -

Incredibly beautiful in so many ways!
We fell in love with The Washington at HYS the minute we toured it. It was the perfect setting for our wedding in so many ways and working with Caitlin, our venue coordinator, made it even better. Caitlin is the sweetest person to work with and she always answered all our questions right away. We did not have to worry about anything with Caitlin being our venue coordinator. We wanted to be surrounded by nature, gardens, foliage, rustic charm, and we wanted our venue to have a feeling of intimacy, character and history to it. We also wanted to have our ceremony and reception at the same location. The Washington offered all of this in addition to three outdoor ceremony locations that we could choose from (and the indoor space for rainy days was not too shabby either). The grounds of The Washington were simply beautiful no matter where you looked. It also offered a beautiful, spacious bridal suite and groom's lounge. We cannot express how perfect The Washington was for our wedding day. -

Beautiful and unique venue!
When looking for a wedding venue, my husband and I knew that we were looking for something that was unique and The Washington was exactly that! The history of the venue and that beautiful gardens were the perfect setting and backdrop for our ceremony and reception. We loved the space for the reception and what really sold us, were the options for the ceremony, both indoors and outdoors. We ended up having our ceremony in front of the tree but if it rained, we knew that we would be more than happy with the indoor option, which is a beautiful space with a lot of character. Caitlin was great to work with and responded quickly to our questions. We could not have asked for anything more. Highly recommended! -

Incredible!
The Yellowsprings was everything I could have every dreamed of. The space alone is beautiful but you can add your own flare if you’d like with decor and catering. Caitlin helped coordinate the day of and because of her the ceremony went off without a hitch. We were able to fit a 6 piece band, and 125 guests with plenty of room for dancing. 10/10 would recommend!!-

Couldn't have asked for more!
My husband and I couldn't be happier with The Washington! We booked our wedding two years out so we could be sure that we'd have our choice of vendors and we have no regrets there. Caitlin was awesome to work with, and the venue itself is fantastic - there's history, beauty, and (maybe most importantly) options in case of inclement weather! We ended up being able to have our ceremony outside, but after weeks of rainy weather it was so nice to not worry about what we'd do if it did rain on our day.
The Washington provides a list of preferred caterers you can work with, and our choice - Feastivities - was AWESOME. Three weeks have past and guests are still telling me how much they loved the food! The staff was super nice and attentive as well. I can't recommend The Washington and Feastivities highly enough! -

Love love LOVE!! This location checked ALL our boxes! Multiple options to choose from for ceremony locations, a rainy day ceremony spot that would not interfere with the reception. A location SO GORGEOUS that very minimal decorating needed to be done! A flexible venue coordinator, and the ability to bring in all our own vendors! Our guests rave about the beauty! We would recommend this place to everyone! Thank you Caitlin and Maeve!-

One visit to this venue will, and you will conclude like we did that this is a perfect place for a wedding. The small village of Yellow Springs is quiet and filled with natural beauty. The Washington itself is a well preserved, historic building with a specail historic charm to it. We had one of our ceremonies outdoors, and there were at least three gorgeous locations for us to choose from for this, but we were relieved that they also have an indoor space that could easily fit all our guests if the weather was bad. The reception hall could fit up to 150 guests, but we topped off at 130 which allowed for an ample sized dance floor. The staff at the Washington were very pleasant and helpful before and on the day of the wedding at helping us plan our wedding day, giving us access at a reasonable time day of, and serving as de facto wedding coordinators for our ceremonies. We were looking for a bucolic or farm setting for our wedding, and this fit the bill and was one of the cheaper venues we came across. What was also attractive is that they had relationships with multiple caterers to give us a better chance to find one in our price range. There is plenty of parking on site for guests, but it is accessible by a motor coach too. We chose a late October date, and the many trees on site provided an amazing colorful backdrop for our event.-

It was so beautiful to have our wedding here. Butterflies were all through the garden and the flowers there were gorgeous, no ceremony decor was needed. It's also amazing to have the last second option to hold a ceremony indoors if the weather isn't cooperating. We let people invite kids and loved the outdoor space for them to run around.
Cait was always quick to respond if we had any questions or concerns. Just pick this place for your wedding and make your life easier! -

Historic Yellow Springs was simply phenomenal. They coordinated with us every step of the way which made planning so much less stressful. We appreciated their flexibility with everything, you have a lot of creative freedom to do what you desire. Everyone we talked to told us how much they loved the layout and open atmosphere of the venue. Brittany, the venue manager, is amazing. It makes all the difference to have someone who's passionate about what they do. You honestly can't go wrong with this venue, we were so happy we found it! -

My husband and I searched quite a few venues before we found THE PERFECT ONE. The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs had JUST what we were looking for --- beautiful grounds, open (and air conditioned) indoor space, great secluded location --- and for JUST the right PRICE! Brittany and the entire team at The Washington were amazing to work with. They were accommodating, flexible, organized, and professional throughout the entire planning process. Brittany helped with rehearsal and day of coordination and did a wonderful job with everything! The grounds looked beautiful, the parking was so convenient, and the room was just perfect! It was the very best day of our lives, and we are forever grateful to have found The Washington! -

We got married back in June this year at The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs. We had visited several other venues prior to HYS and none of them felt right. They all seemed very commercialized and generic. Feeling very frustrated, I went onto Wedding Wire to search for venues closer to my parents house. I stumbled across this gem, which happened to be less than 10 minutes away from the house I grew up in. How did I not know about this before?! The first time that we visited, that was it. We were done looking for a venue. The venue itself is perfection, especially for such a reasonable price and Brittany was a pleasure to work with! HYS is a gorgeous historic venue hidden in Chester Springs that truly made our wedding day feel magical. For that day, we were living in a fairy tale.

From the minute we arrived on the grounds of the Historic Yellow Springs, we knew that the place had captured our hearts. An 18th-Century manor with stone structures dating to the Revolutionary War, it has all of the charm that we could ever ask for in a wedding venue; nature, history, coziness and warmth. We did not need to see another venue after this one.
On the day of the event, the Yellow Springs’ staff was very attentive to our needs and willing to adjust at a moment’s notice when our plans changed. We were grateful for everything that Jen (and Brittany) did for us! Everyone at this venue was unbelievable friendly and helpful. The Yellow Springs will always have a special place in our hearts. -

This venue is absolutely stunning. My husband and I fell in love with it as soon as we toured it. It has everything you are looking for if you want a historic, rustic, classy, and characteristic venue. We loved the fact that it has a "man cave" as well as a beautiful bridal suite. There is also a "Plan B" space that is also pretty, should we have had rain cancel our plans. We chose the fountain as our ceremony site and had a musician duo playing. It was absolutely picture perfect. After the ceremony, we gathered for family pictures in front of the beautiful historic Washington and then got to enjoy cocktail hour in the Brick Room and also outside in the walkway space. Bernadette Duffy is absolutely amazing and will work extremely hard to give you exactly what you want for your wedding day. She is such a professional and works seemlessly with the venue's coordinators as well. Our reception was held in the Washington and the decor, the flowers, the venue, everything was perfect. The dance floor was packed all night long and the guests kept telling us what a wonderful space it was. I would recommend this venue to anyone-- we loved every minute of our day! -

We had our wedding here May 2016, and it was absolutely perfect. Everything about this venue is beautiful. From the time I booked the venue, Brittany was great at responding to emails and making sure everything was perfect. It rained on our wedding day, so it was great having the extra room for the ceremony! I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. The venue has so much history to it, that our guests really enjoyed walking around during cocktail hour. Everyone still talks about how beautiful the venue was. It was truly a magical day, and I'm so glad all my wedding memories are at HYS. -

The Washington was everything my husband and I had ever dreamed of and so much more. When we got engaged, we knew we wanted something unique, something us, someplace no one had ever been. We wanted our guests to walk into our venue and say 'WOW this is so Matt and Erin.' Mission accomplished! This was our one and only venue we toured. From the gorgeous courtyard where we were married, to the ruins where we took pictures, to the gorgeous reception space with its stunning original hardwoods and beautiful chandlers, it was everything we had hoped to find.
Working with Allie was a dream - she transitioned out right before our wedding but their current venue manager, Brittany was absolutely wonderful and picked up where Allie left off seamlessly. Getting ready that day was so wonderful thanks to the beautiful bridal suite and my hubby-to-be was thrilled to have the grooms suite. We had viewed several online that provided no where for him to get ready - it's his day too! That was a must for us. Our guests loved wandering the property during cocktail hour and could not get over how beautiful The Washington is. We could not have asked for a more perfect day or a more perfect venue. I wish I could do it all over again! -

The Washington is an absolutely beautiful venue and from the moment we saw it, we knew it was exactly what we wanted! We went to see it on a whim thinking it would be good practice for when we looked at the venues we really wanted, but we quickly realized that we didn't have to look any further. The property has a secluded feel, great history, beautiful landscaping, and a classic and unique design. The bridal and groom's suites for getting ready are impressive and relaxing. The ceremony locations are each breathtaking in their own right but we knew the courtyard area would be best for us with it's intimate, secret garden, feel and beautiful flowers. We loved the touches of history throughout the Brick Room and the creams and hard woods of the reception site with the deep window sills and beautiful fireplace. We were beyond excited to show off our find to friends and family. Also, can't forget the haunting beauty of the ruins!
Unfortunately, The Washington has been through a few Venue Managers since we booked with them in May of 2014, but we mainly worked with Allie who was a tremendous help. It was clear that she was good at her job and was always quick to offer help and answer any questions or requests. I hope that The Washington is able to find another manager who is as much of an asset as Allie was because the property deserves to be seen and utilized by many for their special occasion! -

My husband and I searched high and low for a venue that was unique, had vintage character & outdoor space. We were so lucky to find The Washington! The charm of the ruins, herb garden, manicured land, and bright & airy ballroom are what sold us on this gorgeous venue. The grounds are sprawling which made for multiple possibilities for the ceremony and cocktail hour. We chose to have our ceremony by the tree near the ruins and our cocktail hour by the fountain - perfect! It was also a huge bonus to know that we had a rain backup for the ceremony in a room as beautiful as the ballroom (though luckily we didn't need it!). The day of the wedding, the separate rooms for the men and women to get ready in were wonderful and helped us to feel relaxed and organized. Our photographers were able to split up and get some shots of the guys and the girls getting ready, saving a ton of time.
Another huge plus is that you're able to choose your own vendors. The venue coordinator, Allie, was wonderful to work with from day one. She worked seamlessly with our caterer coordinator and all other vendors, and made sure everything ran smoothly during the rehearsal and on the day of the wedding. She is calm, professional, and very responsive to calls and emails which made the planning process super smooth.
We are in awe of this gorgeous venue, how smoothly our wedding day ran, and absolutely recommend The Washington! -

The Washington at Yellow Springs was an amazing venue for our summer wedding. Our outdoor ceremony in front of the ruins and cocktail hour in the herb garden and fountain courtyard were so picturesque and filled with interesting sights and fun activities (lawn games, hidden short trails) for our guests. The indoor spaces for dinner, dancing, bar, and photo booth were beautiful and spacious. The prep rooms for the bride and groom were perfect. Having the 2nd floor as a rain backup ceremony and reception space (which we thankfully didn't need to use) gave us much needed piece of mind. Transport was very smooth with our shuttle bus from Philly and individual cars. Allie, the venue manager, was super responsive throughout the planning process, well organized with all of our vendors, and a greatly appreciated source of calm guidance during our big day. We loved everything about our experience with The Washington. Thank you for making our wedding everything we had dreamed of and more! -

The Washington at Yellow Springs is the most beautiful and unique venue in the Philly burbs! A beautiful building filled with history, good energy and immaculate upkeep, it was easy for us to choose the Washington as our wedding venue with no hesitation.
A quarter of the way through the planning process, there was a change in event coordinators and the transition was flawless. Allie, the current event coordinator, picked our plans right up as if she was there planning from the beginning. This was just the start of what turned out to be a perfect event.
Allie is professional, talented, accomodating and truly loves her job at The Washington. On a day where things can get tense and sometimes stressful, Allie's calm disposition and swift execution are just what it takes to make a successful coordinator and smooth running wedding day. Any problem that arose with our other vendors, Allie was right there to correct it and put me at ease. She was supportive from start to finish.
Allie is amazing at what she does. She is organized, kind and patient and I highly recommend The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs to anyone looking for a gorgeous wedding venue with the perfect event coordinator. -

My husband and I got married here October 25, and worked with Allie. The whole experience was really great, we were provided with all of the information that we needed when we needed it, we were able to visit the location multiple times before the event so that we could figure out everything we needed/ wanted for our wedding, and the day of went super smoothly. There was even a rain day plan just incase the weather didn't cooperate, since the ceremony was outside. Allie was awesome to work with and I'm so happy that we chose to have our wedding here! I would recommend this location everyone! -

We could not have hoped for a better venue for our November 2013 wedding. The Washington is picture-perfect (especially with the foliage in late fall!), the price was very affordable, and the ballroom comfortably sat our 60+ guests with plenty of room for dancing. The best part is Callie, the event coordinator. She is a joy to work with. She is friendly, attentive, thoughtful, and a true professional. She and Laurey from Perfect Setting, one of the Washington's recommended caterers, worked together brilliantly to make sure that our big day was truly perfect. From the first day that we toured the venue, Callie had great suggestions and answered every question. We cannot recommend it highly enough! -

When we started searching for a wedding venue, we knew that we needed a place that would be a bit of a blank slate where we could build our plans. After seeing one too many places that imposed a million restrictions, I stumbled across Yellow Springs. I think that we both knew right away that it was perfect for us! Not only were we able to cherry pick all of our vendors (rather than being tied to a restrictive approved vendor list), but the gorgeously restored Washington building and the surrounding grounds were exactly what I'd pictured finding in my head.
We had our ceremony in the garden between the Washington and Lincoln buildings, cocktail hour in the 'Brick Room' of the Washington, and then our reception in the main room. The set up was perfect as all three spaces are in a line, allowing our party to seamlessly transition from one space to the next. We did our bridal party photos in the hospital ruins, which provided a beautiful and unique backdrop.
I really appreciated having both a room for the guys downstairs and a separate bridal suite upstairs for the girls, so that we could get ready on site as well. Our hair stylist was able to meet us there so we didn't have to go through the added space of getting everyone to multiple places on the already hectic day. The venue is also located within a few miles of numerous hotels, which was great for our many out-of-town guests.
As gorgeous and perfect as the space was, I need to recommend the venue's event manager, Callie McGlone, even more highly. Callie is an absolute sweetheart and did everything that she could to help make our day as easy and perfect as possible. She was always very prompt and helpful with her replies to my never-ending barrage of questions, and all of our other vendors raved about how wonderful she was to work with as well.
We're so glad that we chose The Washington for our wedding and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to get married in the area!

Amazing venue and wonderful event coordinator, Callie McGlone! This was the first venue on our list to visit and our decision to book it for our wedding was apparent right away! It was everything we wanted and more in a wedding venue. We fell in love the rustic and historical charm of the building from inside and out. The historical grounds of the venue are absolutely beautiful where we captured so many lovely photos on our fall wedding day. The venue TRULY speaks for itself when visited! As for Callie McGlone - She was fantastic! She was always so prompt with any questions or concerns we had and a pleasure to work with. She assisted with our wedding ceremony, which was on site in the courtyard outside, and coordinated a great flow throughout the entire day. I have nothing but great things to say about this venue and the coordiantor!! -

Our wedding at Historic Yellow Springs was perfect. It was everything a girl dreamed of...and I owe a lot of if to the venue itself. The venue is beautiful. The grounds are well kept and lush with greenery. The colors are subtle and earthy. If you are looking for a charming, quaint, historical site, THIS IS YOUR PLACE. Our wedding was outdoor, and of course- the beautiful weather helped, but even indoors, you will find yourself in a gorgeous building filled with charm and character. The bathrooms are clean and spacious, the kitchen is large and accommodating to our caterer. The waiting room was well decorated and comfortable, and the bridal suite was large and newly renovated. Again, the place is perfect. It's affordable, beautiful, and flexible. If you are thinking about Historic yellow springs as a venue choice, GO SEE IT in person. Your decision will be made.
On a final note, Callie McGlone, the event coordinator, is a doll. She did everything she could to help me stay relaxed. Everything went as planned, and I couldn't be happier with her service. -

When we first started searching for venues, we decided to drive by Yellow Springs, just to scope it out. The moment we saw the beautiful historical architecture and gardens, we knew it was our place.
The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs offered us everything we imagined and more: a perfect tucked away location, a large indoor memorable space (with heating+A/C!), beautiful outdoor scenery, and the ability to customize our wedding any way we wanted.
Our ceremony was held up the hill near the "ruins." This is where a hospital once sat that housed patients of the revolutionary and civil wars. We were astounded at how the rocky foundation area was turned into an elegant herb garden, where our guests enjoyed pre-ceremony refreshments. It provided a perfect backdrop to our ceremony under the big welcoming beach tree. We were able to comfortably fit 150 guests in a warm, intimate, amphitheater-style setting.
Our friends and family enjoyed a cocktail hour in the fountain-courtyard area. Since all of our wedding party photos were taken on site, we were able to get them done very quickly and get back to our party. Our photographer reveled in the many different settings of Yellow Springs: the herb garden, the natural springs, the gazebo, the studio barn, the many porches... so many backdrops!
The Washington provided a truly magnificent space for our reception, and was all the rave of our friends and family. We themed the darker "brick room" as a country-style speakeasy. Our flowers and decorations in the main hall shined in the window sills, on the mantle, and on our tabletops. While we were swept away by the style, comfort, and warmth of the Washington, we learned that it also holds so much of our nation's history.
The staff at Yellow Springs knocked our wedding out of the park. Anyone who attended will tell you this is an absolutely perfect place for family and friends to gather. It would be a huge mistake to not go see Yellow Springs! -

My husband and I recently got married at Historic Yellow Springs and had an absolutely wonderful day! HYS is a beautiful venue that breaks the mold of your typical wedding site, which was important to us. We loved the history of the site and the grounds offer a really beautiful backdrop for photos. I also wanted to have a hand in the details of our wedding, so I liked that there weren't many limits on the vendors we could use. I enjoyed the ability to piece together my wedding and make it as personal as possible.
Our guests raved about the location and enjoyed walking around the property during the cocktail hour. Our photos were beautiful by utilizing the lush and green landscape, the stone ruins and the dramatic porch. This is certainly a venue that is memorable!
Callie was FANTASTIC! I cannot say enough wonderful things about her! She was very prompt at responding to any of my questions, very accommodating with my requests and a few of my unannounced visits. The rehearsal and the day of the wedding ran so much smoother with her there and she really helped to ease the stress of the day in her calm and supportive way. She is great to have in your corner!

My husband and I were looking for a unique venue where we could have our ceremony outdoors and or reception on-site. We looked at several farms and arboretums, but all of them seemed to require a lot of rental equipment and expense to create the day we had in mind. We were pleasantly surprised when we came across Historic Yellow Springs. It was 5 miles from our home, has incredible outdoor spaces and the perfect setting in the Washington building to host our entire day all at one location! We were able to choose our caterer and rental company and all of our vendors.
Callie, the event manager, was wonderful and a true professional. She checked in with us regularly, kept us up to date on the property and improvements that were being made leading up to our big day. She walked through with our vendors and made herself completely available to us for anything we needed. My sister continues to rave about how helpful she was on the day of our wedding and what a great place we chose to celebrate our wedding day.
We did a walk through with our photographers the weekend before the wedding to check out lighting and the spots that would be best for photos and staging the event. They were thrilled and kept saying this venue is a photographers dream location. I can not wait to see our pictures! We saw some previews on the night of our wedding and the backdrop is just spectacular.
We were able to do everything on site. Our hair stylist and make up artists met us at the bridal suite and all of my girls hung out before the festivities, relaxed and without the stress of coordinating getting everyone from point A to B to C and D that day.
We had our ceremony at sunset in the ruins and all of our guests have commented on just how beautiful it was as a setting for a wedding. We did our first look by the big old tree next to the ruins! The Washington Building was such a great combination of history, charm and ambiance. -

The moment we toured The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs, we knew this was our venue. It was the first and only venue we looked at in person. The grounds were beautiful, full of lush greenery and gardens. We also fell in love with the venue’s historic significance. Our ceremony was held by the tree, with cocktail hour by the fountain, and pictures taken by the ruins and the herb garden. There are so many picturesque options to choose from. It completely captured the rustic, elegant, ‘non-wedding hall vibe’ that we were going for and guests remarked on the venue’s beauty and unique ambiance. Although our venue coordinators changed between our initial booking and the actual wedding day, both Brittany and Cait were responsive, organized, and successful in making our day perfect! We highly recommend this venue! -

We fell in love with the Washington right away and booked 2 years in advance. The venue is absolutely perfect, like something out of a fairy tale. The woodland setting is beautiful and so are the gardens, courtyard, meadows, and historic buildings. We especially loved the history of the site. The inside of the venue for the reception was so beautiful it hardly needed any decoration, and it was spacious but also felt sweet and intimate at the same time. We got married on the hill in the stone ruins, and luckily did not need the back-up indoor ceremony site, but that was beautiful too! The suites for the bridal party to get ready in were beautiful and super helpful. The amenities are great and since we chose to get married on a weekday, it was incredibly affordable. The current venue manager Cait is absolutely fantastic! She worked so hard and really made our wedding day the perfect fairytale I always dreamed about. She was on top of everything, responded to emails and calls right away, checked in with me often to make sure she understood our vision for the wedding, and she was there at the rehearsal and day of to make sure everything ran smoothly. She was flexible and constantly offered to help and asked if we needed anything or needed her to look into anything, and was a godsend while we were trying to figure out ceremony arrangements and timing. She really went above and beyond and was so sweet interacting with us, our bridal party, parents, and wedding guests. We did have a few issues with previous venue managers there- the venue went through 3 different managers since we booked and the previous one was unhelpful and made the process stressful. She left a few months before our wedding and we were worried but then Cait took over and was a dream come true. We absolutely recommend the Washington as a venue and would get married there again in a heartbeat. Like us, our guests were in love with the place and kept saying how beautiful and unique the venue is. Thank you! -

We just recently got married at the Washington at Historic Yellow Springs and it was an AMAZING DAY! Allie was so helpful and she went above and beyond to help us with our special day. The venue is gorgeous and we had so many compliments on what a unique and beautiful location. If you're looking for an outside venue in the Exton, PA/West Chester, PA area this is your place!! -

We absolutely loved this place! We had planned our wedding to be outside in the courtyard where a beautiful fountain sat. Our cocktail hour was to be held in the herb garden that overlooked the ruins from a revolutionary war hospital. However, rain spoiled our parade. But the staff at Yellow Springs helped us through it all and, despite the weather, we had a very special wedding inside. It was plenty of room for our party which topped out at about 160. Everyone loved the wrap around porch which was covered to help our guests stay dry in the horrible weather conditions. This place is a diamond in the rough and you have to check it out! Thanks Eileen and Callie!!! -

Perfect Fall wedding at Th Washington
Let me start by saying we had amazing team of vendors that brought our wedding day vision to life. We visited the Washington in fall of 2019 just after getting engagement and absolutely fell in love with the grounds, the old antique architecture, the history and the beautiful flow and layout of the gardens and ruins were more then we could have dreamt up! The price was super reasonable! All of our guests were wowed by the very unique venue we picked! The Washington also connected us with our amazing caterers as well and brought the whole thing together! I couldn’t recommend this venue more for those you want something different then a ballroom wedding, something with history and character!-

We chose this venue because of the flexibility. This venue not only offers an area for the bride and groom to get ready, it also offers multiple outdoor spaces for the ceremony and a back up indoor space in case of bad weather. We got very lucky with our weather, but it was great to have a back up plan ready to go in case the sky opened up prior to the ceremony. The history of the buildings added a lot of charm to the venue - great location for pictures. The venue does a great job of keeping the grounds beautiful both inside and out! -

The Washington House at Yellow Springs is a beautiful place to get married. So many people told us how beautiful our ceremony and reception site was. It combines timeless elegance and history in one site.
Our wedding coordinator Allie was amazing! She always got back to us within hours whenever we had a question. She always had thorough responses and she was always super friendly. Ask for her if you are interested in yellow springs!
The day of our wedding she really made everything go so smoothly, she helped keep everyone focused and on schedule the whole day and helped set up the centerpieces, the chairs, and all the small details to help make everything perfect. Our day would not have been as perfect without her!!!
Cons: It is a bit pricey considering that there is no catering included but the beauty was unmatched and we knew we had to have our wedding here. It was the first venue we saw and nothing else compared to what we envisioned for our perfect day. -

Historic Yellow Springs was the most perfect venue for our fall wedding! The grounds and the buildings were just gorgeous. All night long, our guests kept saying, this is such a pretty place for a wedding. I couldn't agree more. It was the first place we visited, and we knew that we didn't need to look any further. Callie, the event coordinator was such a pleasure to work with. She was very helpful and always willing to go the extra step to help make our wedding special. Short story - On the day of our wedding it rained...it really rained. We weren't counting on this and rented a tent last minute. Callie was there on the morning of our wedding in her rain boots stringing up lights and making sure that everything was running smoothly. I can't recommend this venue or it's staff any more! -

We loved having our wedding at the Washington. The only snag was insurance which we figured out. It would have been helpful to understand that better in the beginning but again it worked out fine. Callie was great and the venue was very flexible with everything we wanted to do! I'd recommend it to anyone! -

Wedding Dream Come True!
We had a wonderful wedding at the Washington at Historic Yellow Springs on 10/28/18 and I'm glad that we found the venue after researching dozens of other places. We worked with Caitlin and she was fantastic, and while she was unavailable for our actual wedding day, Beatrice was a great substitute. The space is beautiful and so charming. We had our first look in the ruins and our ceremony in the garden space. Due to the rain the night before, I was nervous that we'd have to use the backup indoor space, but we lucked out and had a beautiful wedding outdoors! Since the weather was chilly, our cocktail hour was held n the brick room. Folks were encouraged to enjoy the grounds. The reception area was lovely with plenty of space for our 70 guests. Our guests raved about the venue and we will never forget this special day! -

Yellow Springs was exactly what we were looking for. It is set in a beautiful, serene location with amazing property and surroundings. The historic qualities of the venue made the entire night feel so cozy, intimate and romantic. The wedding coordinator at the venue (Alexandria Proko) did a fantanstic job from start to finish. She was timely in her responses to phone calls and emails, accomodated everything that we had requested and made sure the day went as seamless as possible. Everything about this venue was just perfect! -

Our dream venue but it wasn't meant to be
We had the unfortunate experience of trying to plan our wedding here during COVID in 2022. We booked a year in advance, optimistic that things may open up more in the spring. As state restrictions rolled out we agreed to an outdoor occupancy limit of 70. Long story short, It sounded like Caitlin had her hands tied and whoever runs this place (I remember a board being mentioned) went more conservative on restrictions below the count we had planned for. We went back and forth with outdoor tenting ideas, but I think we were also restricted because they had planned their art show the weekend of our wedding (my best guess for why they wouldn't bend for us). In the end, Caitlin worked out for us to get our deposit back but we did have to scramble to find another venue in the area with only 2 months before the big day.
I wouldn't recommend planning a wedding here during a pandemic, but aside from that it is a beautiful venue, Caitlin was super helpful during the planning process, and this would be the perfect place for an outdoor garden aesthetic. Between the Ruins, water fountain, gazebo, and historic porch there were tons of wonderful photo opportunities. We found our florist and caterer throughtheir list of recommended vendors and I'm sure if we didn't try planning in spring of 2022 this would have been a wonderful venue! -

Fantastic wedding venue! I would opt for the extra hour of time...they day goes by so fast! Brittany Burrows is a lovely event coordinator. I would also recommend the preferred caterer, Jim Duffy's, the food was amazing! The entire staff was professional and accommodating. Have your wedding here and it will be a fabulous day to remember. -

The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs is stunning. Truly beautiful. There are beautiful grounds outdoors, the reception area is lovely, and the ceremony inside is also great. When we were looking for venues, it was important to us to have a good indoor option if it rained. And the building has a really interesting history. The only issue with the space is that the coordinator that comes with the venue is not very helpful. If you choose Yellow Springs as your wedding venue, I would probably hire a wedding coordinator for the day of your wedding. -

Beautiful Venue!
The Washington at HYS was the only venue we looked at when we booked - the price was very fair and the venue is BEAUTIFUL! It had the perfect amount of charm that we were looking for, in a unique location. Cait puts on wonderful open houses that allowed us to find many of our other vendors, which was a big help.
Like many other 2020 couples, we were impacted by COVID and needed to re-plan. We did not want to cancel, as we had this planned for over 2 years. We were disappointed to learn that The Washington was unable to provide a tent for a safe outdoor wedding, and the indoor space could only accommodate 25 people (including vendors) - however we appreciate the decisions made in order to keep everyone safe. Cait was very flexible and understanding which was SO important to us and made things a lot easier. Although we had to re-locate our reception, we were still able to use the indoor space to get ready, take pictures across the grounds, and have a beautiful mini-mony.
I highly recommend The Washington! -

I was the wedding coordinator for a wedding at Yellow Springs. I will say that the wedding went great. Things looked wonderful and everything went off without a hitch the day of the wedding. But that is thanks to the wonderful caterer (Triple Fresh) that was booked, as well as other outside vendors, including myself, for set-up of wedding decor. Leading up to the wedding my clients were promised the site would be ready by a certain date and on our walk through on Monday (the wedding was on Sunday) the bathrooms were incomplete and the kitchen had no appliances. We also had to bargain a bit to allow the bridal couple to leave some items at the venue for the next day (primarily the alcohol) even though the venue was not being used the prior day and it would be in a place that needed no further renovations. I was a bit disappointed that they failed to get much of those details in writing as many things they had promised my clients were confirmed via e-mail but then were not followed through with on their end. I was pleased that the wedding reception was successful but the stress leading up to it was a bit much. I do not think I would suggest this as a venue to future clients. -
