Always top notch!
As a wedding photographer, it’s always a delight to work at the Sutherland. From the beautifully decorated estate to the expertly manicured gardens, you have a picturesque background to capture all your memories at. Not to mention, the experience you’ll receive from Ashlee, Lena, and Amber is always top-notch! Each one is so easy to work with and truly cares for their couples! -

After 19 years of dating, my husband proposed to me finally. Then the wedding planning began. We had no clue where to begin. We googled “wedding venues near me”. The Sutherland Estate was top of the list. Little did we know, it is only 4 miles from our home. We were surprised we had never heard of it. We scheduled an appointment to visit the venue. We met Ashlee Adams on site. She was down to earth and immediately seemed like a sister. As soon as we walked in the front door of The Sutherland, we were in love with the venue. There was no need to look further. We had found our dream wedding location. Over the following months, Ashlee was always available via phone, text, email, or in person to answer questions, give wedding planning advice, or just to listen. Covid19 happened which meant our wedding had to be postponed until the next year. During this time, Ashlee was still available to us. She is a true professional and a joy to work with. Shannon with Pour Bar Services was also a great leader and advisor to us. Our wedding day was a true fairy tale! These 2 ladies worked tirelessly to make this happen. We are and always will be eternally grateful for Ashlee, Shannon, & all The Sutherland staff for providing a beautiful, romantic setting for our dream come true! Their friendship is a much appreciated added bonus! They will forever remain at the top of our list! -

Magic and Flexible
Our wedding day was freezing and raining and still so magical. The Sutherland was the perfect venue. Christy, our coordinator, made the move to an inside ceremony so painless and simple. We didn’t have to do anything; the Sutherland staff handled everything. Planning was a dream. Christy walked us through everything to make it as painless as possible. Even wet, the grounds were gorgeous. -

When we first visited the Sutherland as a possible venue, we were greeted by Christy Ethridge who would show us around. The presentation was awesome. Her attention to detail was amazing to say the least.
She guided my daughter and wife through every aspect of the event and provided a level of unparalleled professionalism.
Do things happen throughout planning a wedding? Obviously, do you want someone like Christy by your side when those things pop up? ABSOLUTELY.
Throughout our experience I believe my wife, daughter, son-in-law and I established a very personal relationship with Christy and we now consider her a close friend :-)

Venue of my dreams!
We could not have been happier that we chose to have our wedding reception at The Sutherland!! The venue had the beautiful indoor and outdoor space we were looking for. Christy was our planner and we never doubted for a second that the wedding day would run smoothly with her there and it 100% did! She even contacted all of my vendors to make sure everyone was on the same page on how the day would go. The Sutherland staff were all wonderful! I couldn’t have had the wedding of my dreams if it wasn’t for this fabulous venue and their staff! -

My dream wedding at my dream venue!
I had fallen in love with The Sutherland years before I was ever engaged from when my cousin was married there several years ago, so when it came time for my now husband and I to book a venue, I knew right where to start. Not only is it a stunning property, but the customer service we received throughout our whole planning process helped us be sure it was the perfect venue for us. Christy was our wedding planner and she couldn't be more amazing! She was very accommodating with us since we live out of town and had to plan a lot of things remotely. I am also a very detail-oriented person, and even when I was blowing her inbox up with questions or multiple emails at a time, she was always sure to address my every question in a very timely manner which made me feel at ease with the whole planning process. There were even small details on the day of that I hadn't even thought of or expressed how I wanted it to look, but Christy and her team went above and beyond and everything turned out perfectly on our wedding day. I will recommend Christy and this venue over and over again. It really was our dream wedding come to life in the perfect venue! -

We chose the Sutherland for many reasons, but what initially drew us to the property was it's location. The Sutherland happens to be right next door (and I mean right.next.door) to my home church that I grew up in, Wake Union Baptist Church! We had heard wonderful things about the Sutherland and their staff, but we were blown away by the impeccable service they had to offer. When we toured the property, we fell in love and had no doubt in our mind that it was the perfect place to host our loved ones and begin our journey as husband and wife. And we were right. Christy was our planner for our wedding and she was beyond amazing! I could go on and on about how incredible the staff and Christy were, but there's no better way to describe it than this: After the wedding, my bridal bouquet went missing...which wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world, but my late grandfather's dog tag was attached. Christy and her team were determined to find and it literally got inside the dumpsters (TWICE) to make sure it hadn't been thrown away. It wasn't there, but they continued to look for days. Half-way through my honeymoon, I received a text message from Christy that included a photo of her holding the dog tag. I was convinced I would never see it again, but Christy and the staff at the Sutherland never gave up and made sure that it got back to us safely. I am immensely grateful for everything they did to ensure our wedding day was the best day of our lives, even after it was over. By the time our wedding day rolled around, Christy felt like family and were so happy that the wedding planning process brought her into our lives. -

The perfect place for the wedding of your dreams!
The Sutherland made the wedding planning process a hundred times easier. Christy was so organized and made sure that everything was done. She was so great at giving advice and really listening to Sid and I! The Sutherland is a perfect backdrop for a wedding and all of the vendors associated make it the perfect venue. My wedding was the best day of my life, I cannot recommend the Sutherland enough! -

Best decision
By far the best decision in my wedding planning process was choosing The Sutherland as our venue! Christy Ethridge was kind, talented, encouraging, and extremely organized. I can't imagine pulling all the details together for our day without her help and guidance. The mix of indoor and outdoor settings for the ceremony and reception was perfect for our early Spring wedding; the house and gardens are so naturally pretty that it's a great venue for any season of the year. I cannot recommend this venue enough! -

We made the right choice by selecting The Sutherland Estate and Gardens as the venue for our daughter's wedding. Every detail was taken care of with professionalism. The house is gorgeous with plenty of southern charm and provides a wonderful background for the bridal portrait as well as the grounds surrounding the property. I was able to enjoy the day with Katie and her attendants and not worry about anything. Christy Ethridge was absolutely wonderful and was by our side during the entire planning process and I can't thank her enough for all the help and attention to detail she provided. Her efforts did not go unnoticed and we received many compliments from our guest. We were so pleased with the outcome on the day of the ceremony and highly recommend this venue to any bride looking for a venue. You will not be disappointed. -

Miller Wedding
We had our wedding at The Sutherland on December 8, 2018. We cannot say enough great things about The Sutherland. From the first meeting until the last, we knew they truly cared for us and wanted to make sure we had the perfect wedding day. Our wedding planner, Christy, was the absolute best! She truly cared about what we wanted and did everything possible to make sure we had the perfect day. She is just awesome and you will never have to stress over your day with her as a planner. The venue itself is so beautiful and the staff is amazing. We had the most perfect wedding and we would choose The Sutherland again and again! -

I planned a good bit of the wedding from out of state and Christy was incredibly accommodating to me. She even took a few hours to give my mom a separate tour after we booked at The Sutherland so that she could walk through it again and feel more comfortable. The whole team at The Sutherland are rockstars. They made our wedding day so incredibly seamless. If there were any problems or if anything went wrong, I had no idea! And that made it such a relaxing, wonderful day for us and our families.
- Also I want to note that the forecast had scheduled for rain to start at the beginning of our outdoor ceremony and Christy did everything she could to keep our vision of an outdoor wedding. She truly went above and beyond to make our day perfect! My husband and I could not be any happier! :) -

Christy's guidance through weather "concerns" was invaluable and we ended up having a gorgeous evening to enjoy an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour! Ashley Sent on 11/03/2009My husband and I selected The Sutherland even before it was officially open because of it's beautiful and historic southern charm. I worked with Jennifer Jones, one of the partners directly through most of the process. Although I handled most of the details myself, she treated me much like a "girlfriend", making sure that all the hours I'd spent in planning came to life. On our wedding day, we didn't have to worry that things were getting done - they took care of it all.
I would recommend The Sutherland to any bride that wants that southern elegance feel to their wedding without an overwhelming price tag. I believe it was worth every penny.

The Sutherland is a must see if you are looking for lush green gardens and large property. The Venue is spacious but warm and comfortable. Ashley and Amber were accommodating and wonderful to work with. They were also very helpful! Thank you all! -

Other than a couple miscommunications about timing/vendors right before the wedding, everything with The Sutherland went smoothly from the very beginning! The grounds are GORGEOUS any time of the year, and Ashlee was so easy to work with. She had so much knowledge about all things wedding, it made planning that much easier! Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful everything looked, and how much they loved our venue. Looking at pictures now makes me want to re-live the whole day over and over! -

We looked at a few properties but I had my heart set on Sutherland as soon as I arrived. It's a breathtaking property and even more so on our wedding day. The planning process can be overwhelming and tough- but Christy (planner at Sutherland) was so thorough and detailed which made me feel at ease. I knew I could count on her 100% the day of - and she went above and beyond my expectations. All of the Sutherland staff was attentive and responsive- I also loved that they hosted a few public events for upcoming weddings- from tastings, dinners, etc- made the place feel more comfortable. Highly recommend! -

My husband and I got married 3/30/2019 and we were very happy with The Sutherland. Christy was amazing and helped keep me calm and everything in order. She was always professional and personable and handled our planning very well. Because of HER, our wedding was everything we hoped for. It is a little pricey but well worth the cost. We recommend 100% -

Beautiful venue!
Absolutely beautiful venue! We loved the Walled Garden and the fact that it had turf so guests could walk comfortably, no bugs, and great landscaping so minimal decorating would need to be done. The thing we loved was the air-conditioned pavilion was large enough for a big crowd, had rustic architecture and ceilings, with doors that could be fully opened. The grounds are kept pristine, the house for getting ready was so pretty and their are chairs and tables included in the cost (to a limit). With a big Indian-Christian wedding they were helpful in making sure we were able to accommodate traditional foods and customs for our guests. The wine tastings and other events were a great way to test out their offerings and meet more of their team! -
