We had such a wonderful experience with this venue. Communication was always smooth, quick, and incredibly easy. The space is absolutely beautiful, and the team made our entire wedding day completely stress‑free. They handled everything so seamlessly that all we had to do was show up and enjoy it.
Even though we don’t live in Alabama, planning from out of state was surprisingly simple because they were so organized and on top of every detail. We weren’t picky about much, and they made the whole process feel effortless.
We’re so grateful for how well they took care of us and would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful, easy, and stress‑free wedding day. -

Coming from California, this was the perfect location for our wedding. We felt super welcomed from the moment we stepped on the property for our initial visit. Ellen was able to answer some hard questions with honesty and ease. We appreciation the professionalism and the inclusion of all different types of people that would be coming to our wedding. They responded quickly. They were upfront with all costs. The payment schedule was easy to follow and it was just so easy to send my vision and it be interpreted.
The day of the wedding- we felt heard. We wanted to party and they allowed us to do just that! They were flexible with our timeline and ensured that we had enough time to dance the night away! As the bride, one of staff members who was assigned to me before walking down the aisle was amazing and calmed me down and let me watch everything from upstairs. They made sire that Ramsey and I were taken care of 100%. They even danced with us!
I cannot say enough about our venue! It is truly a gem and we would go back a million times over! They are the best and we had the best time working with them! -

I got married at The Sonnet House in May 2025! This venue is hands down the best value for a busy bride. Their team is so well rounded, professional and most importantly caring. The venue is absolutely gorgeous offering indoor and outdoor space. Everything you need is there, outdoor fireplace ceremony or indoor chapel ceremony. The space is super versatile offering amazing rain plans! I had a fairly rainy wedding day to say the least and the chapel space where we had our ceremony became a killer dance floor for our reception! The outdoor space is absolutely beautiful and preferred but to have a venue that has a working and confident rain plan is A MUST!! Their catering is so great from easy buffet to plated dinner… they do it all for whatever your budget is! They have a vast menu, I’m sure you will find what you’re looking for! The florals are stunning and it is so nice to have as an in house service who sees the vision of your whole wedding design. Lastly, would like to mention the day of coordinator… ELLEN! On a big day she is who you need, she is involved in your wedding planning process all throughout and truly cares. Ellen and her team were professionals who knew how to keep the timing of the wedding on point. I felt like the wedding day floated by perfectly as the bride, everything important got done but nothing felt rushed or forced. If you are looking for venues in Birmingham where you don’t have to outsource 100 different vendors, you should definitely pick The Sonnet House! -

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to get married than The Sonnet House! The venue is so unique and created the most beautiful backdrop for our big day. From the moment we started planning, Ellen, Jared, and Corey were incredible. They took care of everything—from the food to the flowers—making the whole process so easy for us - it was especially impressive considering we had less than a year to plan!
The flowers were absolutely gorgeous and so personalized, and people are still telling us how amazing the food was! They were also super accommodating, letting us set up and stock the bar in advance, which made everything go so smoothly. Honestly, the day couldn’t have gone better, and we owe so much of that to Ellen, Jared, Corey, and the entire vendor team. We’re so grateful for everything they did to make our day perfect! -

Sonnet House is an absolute GEM of a venue! They were so professional, friendly, and attentive to every detail. They have the BEST florist and BEST caterer in the business too! Ellen kept us focused and willing to give her expertise and guidance when needed. She was always available to answer questions and concerns and kept us enjoying the planning experience. On the day of the wedding, all the little details were covered so we could enjoy the day. We are so glad we chose the Sonnet House and recommend it to every one! You will not be disappointed!

Beautiful, natural, “backyard” wedding vibe!
The Sonnet House went above and beyond with executing our special day! They were so accommodating to ever want/need we had during the planning process AND the day of. They made us feel like the guests of honor rather than the hosts. The venue is absolutely stunning with beautiful charm of the 1918 building. They made our dreams of having a beautiful, organic, “backyard” wedding come true!! Plenty of room to get ready, each, dance, and make beautiful memories!! -

The Sonnet House was the first wedding venue that me and my wife looked at and we knew as soon as we parked that this was the only one we needed to see. I will never have enough words to explain how perfect every detail was. They truly make your wedding so stress free. Everytime I thought of something to be done, they had already thought of it and done it. I would recommend this venue with this staff to anyone. The BEST experience! Food was wonderful, staff was very friendly, and the owners were incredible. Ellen, the lead planner, is just amazing at what she does and no amount of ‘thank yous’ would ever be enough for her. I can’t imagine how weddings function without them!!! -

The perfect day
It truly was a perfect wedding. Ellen and Jared really understood our vision and executed it perfectly. The florals by Corey were gorgeous, the food was divine, and the house was the dreamiest backdrop for our special day. Having everything done in house (florals and catering) made the planning process effortless, but still so exciting. Best venue by far!
We narrowed our venue selection quickly based off just initial call with the team at Sonnet House—the location, option for indoor or outdoor ceremony, the flow we were looking for and most importantly their team—were the main reason we wanted to have our wedding here! I cannot speak highly enough on how much help Jared and Ellen were during the planning process—they never slacked on anything and were quick to address any question! They KNOW how to pull off flawless weddings like the back of their hands. Even more so, they took everything off our plate wedding weekend and took care of the smallest of things like figuring out how to hang our crossword puzzle. I had nothing left to worry about day of wedding which allowed us and our families to soak it all up! We still talk about and have friends and family bring up how much fun they had at our wedding or how beautiful everything was. We would choose Sonnet House again and again without a second thought. Additionally, they were one of the most affordable venues in the area and offer day of wedding coordination in the price… I mean say no more!! If you are a bride/groom looking for a place to say “I do”…. Don’t wait! Find a wedding date that they are available and you will not regret it! -

Most Magical Venue!
We had the best time with The Sonnet House. Cory and Ellen are the best and help made the wedding planning process so incredibly easy. The wedding day was full of love and organization. I did not have to worry about a thing because it was all taken care of. We could not have pulled off the perfect wedding without The Sonnet House. 100% Recommend! -

The Sonnet House provided us with the wedding we dreamed about! The team was very receptive to our visions about the day while providing ideas on how best to make it happen! Jared is very professional, responding promptly to emails and keeping schedules, while giving the best tours around the venue. I loved having our ceremony and reception all in one place. The Sonnet House team is so experienced and everything went so smoothly. Ellen is the best wedding day coordinator! She has a very affirming and calming presence while being the best hype woman, sharing in your excitement on your wedding day! I wish we could re-live the whole day again. Life got a little crazy so I’m delayed with my review. We’ve been married 6 months now and I’m just reflecting back on the most perfect day! I could not recommend the Sonnet House more! They made everything so easy and smooth. I’m generally one to like to make sure every little thing is going well and how it’s supposed to, but it was so nice to be able to enjoy my wedding day without worrying about a single thing other than making sure I didn’t trip down the aisle lol.
From the beginning I was excited about the Sonnet House because of how much they do from their end. They do require you to use their florist and caterer which turned out to be the best thing. We didn’t have to worry about finding vendors for food, flowers, or decor. We met with them and discuss what type of food, flowers, and decor we wanted and they took it from there. The Lead Planner also has a business where you can order koozies and things such as that. I ordered mine from her and she had them delivered to the sonnet house so it was one less thing I had to remember to bring up there! Ellen and Jared make a fantastic team. They are very timely with responses to all the many questions I had. I was so concerned with it raining the day off because I have bad luck, but they eased my mind with their wonderful back up plans. Everything they do is so organized and you can tell they’ve been doing this for a while. We had 2 in person meetings with them from the time we booked until we met them again wedding week. This gave us the opportunity to walk around and decide where we wanted certain things to go etc. it ended up being very cold the week of our wedding. The day was not so bad for the ceremony, but I was worried for guests at night. So the week of the ceremony I emailed them and asked if we could move the reception inside and it was no problem and went so well. I think I was most impressed during the actual wedding day. There was not a single thing that went wrong for our day which is unbelievable. Ellen is a Wonder Woman. Every time I turned around she was right there asking me if I needed something to drink or anything at all. She always came to find us to keep us on track with the schedule of events and she even helped ease my mind a few times I was insanel nervous (we wrote our own vows and I was freaking out about reading them lol). One thing that is so special to me is after the ceremony and pictures they had plates fixed for both of us in a little private room upstairs so that we could enjoy each other for just a minute alone and eat our meals before mingling and dancing the night away. It was such a special time I won’t forget. During this time Ellen even changed my shoes for me from my ceremony to reception shoes haha. She really is a rock star. My parents and my in-laws could not get over how amazing they were. At the end of the night they even helped them pack up all of the things we brought and the extra food and drinks. They also packed my husband and I bags of food and put them in the getaway car for us to eat when we got to our hotel. I don’t have a single negative thing to say about the Sonnet House. It was the absolute best experience and I’m so thankful to be able to look back on my perfect day for the rest of our lives. I would recommend this beautiful place and these people to anyone getting married or hosting an event. It was truly wonderful. -

My husband and I are both in medical school, so when we found out that the sonnet house has inclusive flowers, catering, and coordination it was an easy yes for us! They held my hand throughout the entire planning process and helped me back decisions that wouldn't break my budget. Ellen is AMAZING and will give you so much confidence throughout wedding planning. If you are thinking about choosing them, do it. -

My husband and I cannot recommend the Sonnet House enough! I'm so happy we got married there. Not only is the location beautiful, but the entire Sonnet House team is wonderful to work with. They made the wedding planning process so smooth. They captured the vision we were looking for and some! Every detail was wonderful - beautiful decor and florals, great food, etc. The Sonnet House team is professional, flexible, and most of all exceptional at what they do. As a former event coordinator, I knew I wanted to streamline the planning process as much as possible and The Sonnet House was invaluable with reaching that goal. By providing a stunning venue, gorgeous florals and decor, delicious food, lovely staff, an excellent vendor recommendation list, and professional coordination, The Sonnet House ensured we had the perfect day. Not only was everything perfect, I found the pricing really reasonable given industry standards and the quality and service provided. Dreamy venue with the best planning team
The Sonnet House was everything I hoped it would be (and more) for my wedding day. Ellen, their wedding coordinator, made planning much less stressful. She was also a PRO at keeping everyone in line and on time during the rehearsal and wedding day. She is fun, professional, and receptive. I felt like she - and the whole sonnet house team - understood exactly what we were envisioning for our day and made it all come together perfectly.
The venue does in-house catering and florals, both of which were a delight. The food was delicious and I loved my flowers so much!
I would recommend the Sonnet House to absolutely anyone and everyone. -

There aren't enough words in the English language to praise the Sonnet House. We knew from their initial email response that we would likely go with them, and our experience only got better from there. They were very upfront with pricing, services, etc. when we went to visit, which I appreciated. There were no surprise costs at the end, and we were updated each month on our balance. The grounds are incredibly gorgeous, and they have both indoor and outdoor venue options for crazy Alabama weather. Working with Ellen was a dream come true, and she even coordinated with our remaining vendors which took a huge burden off of me. The day of was so stress-free! The flowers were exactly what I wanted, Ellen checked in on me and was so fun and excited that I couldn't do anything but to feel excited. She knew my style from the beginning, and the decor was spot on. You can have as fancy of a wedding here as you want, but for brides who want a gorgeous wedding without breaking the bank, this is your place. I will always love The Sonnet House! -

Amazing Venue and People!
The Sonnet House is such a beautiful venue, and I really want to brag on the team there! Due to COVID restrictions, we had to split our big day into two - our original date for a small ceremony and a later date for the reception. The Sonnet House team was so understanding and flexible with all of the changes and helped me stay calm along the way! Our wedding and reception days were so much more than we ever dreamed of! I have often heard of people talk about how stressful and overwhelming planning a wedding is. I was also faced with the challenge of planning an Alabama Wedding while living 680 miles away in Texas. Throw a global pandemic into the mix and you think it would be downright impossible. Not for The Sonnet House.
We began planning prior to COVID and obviously shifted a bit following the global outbreak. So many people have asked me what it's been like to plan a wedding during 2020 and my answer throughout the entire experience has stayed the same. It was not that different at all. Ellen, Jared and team had a Plan A, B and C for us and if those didn't work out they had Plans D, E and F ready to go. At no point in time did I lose confidence in thinking I would still be able to have my fairy-tale wedding.
The entire team was so responsive during the planning process and were able to flawlessly transform my Pinterest Boards, rambling emails and vague ceremony and reception descriptions into the wedding of my dreams. The safety precautions taken by the Sonnet House in light of the coronavirus were also efficient and effective as myself and all guests were able to come out the other side 100% healthy and happy.
On the day of the wedding, my mother, bridal party and I showed up to the Sonnet House that morning with zero responsibilities as far as logistics were concerned. The entire day was relaxing, joyful and everything a wedding should be. I cannot recommend The Sonnet House enough to brides searching for that perfect venue.
This team will bend over backwards to accommodate your every wish and ensure you have the most memorable day you could possible image. Thanks again to The Sonnet House! -

We got married at the Sonnet House a few weeks ago and already wish we could do it all over again! Weddings tend to be stressful times...but not at the Sonnet House. Ellen, Jared, and Corey took every dream we had and made it come true. It rained on our wedding day and their team smoothly moved our outdoor ceremony to their large indoor ceremony venue and it was beautiful...perfectly executed - and they never let us worry about one little detail. I can’t speak highly enough of these people and this beautiful venue. The food, the flowers, the entire wedding day...words can’t even describe!! -

Perfect Venue
Truly top of the line. We got married in November and weather in Alabama could not be more unpredictable. The team worked with us on our ever changing plans as we adjusted to the weather. Everything went so smoothly and Ellen was a step ahead on everything. They coordinated with our other vendors to make sure everything was there that we needed. The planning was so personal, yet professional, in all aspects. Everyone who works there treats you like your day is the most important day to them. (We know it was important to us, but they do this EVERY weekend.) We truly felt so special and so important. The wedding was EVERYTHING our daughter envisioned and then some. I have heard her tell numerous people, "If I could go back, I wouldn't change a thing!" To me, that was the best way to sum up her memories of the wedding and The Sonnet House's treatment of us! Neither of us would change a thing. We loved it.
