The best location for a wedding!
Our 10/8/21 wedding was beautiful and magical thanks to The Otesaga Hotel! We could not have selected a better location for our event and Amanda Sittler was the most organized and professional coordinator to bring it all together. We chose to have an intimate rehearsal dinner followed by a "Welcome Reception" open to all guests the night before as well. Having all of our wedding events on site at The Otesaga made it easy for guests to stay and enjoy their time! It also allowed my husband and I to really get to talk to everyone who had traveled in for our wedding. Everyone had an awesome time and complimented us on the uniqueness and historical feel of the hotel and quality of service. We would recommend to anyone! -

Just do it!
The most gorgeous venue, reasonably priced, effortless planning, and great food. I booked this as a destination wedding and put my full faith in the staff to assist with wedding planning. You are provided with a day of coordinator who took care of it all! All I had to do was show up! You won't regret it!-

Perfect Wedding Day
My wife and I were married here in 2023. It was an amazing day and it was executed flawlessly. Our wedding planner, Megan, was great to work with. She was able to answer any question we had and was very responsive. Our day of coordinator, Felicia, was on point with every detail and checked in on us several times to make sure we were happy with everything. The Otesaga is a beautiful venue with great food and great all around service. -

There is no place like The Otesaga
There is no place like the Otesaga. Our wedding day was magical – the views of the lake from the lawn, veranda and ballroom are stunning, and the hotel spaces are elegant and unique. Every single member of the staff was so helpful and genuine, they went above and beyond to make the whole experience special.
(The Otesaga is a perfect wedding venue for so many reasons, including a few I didn’t expect going into planning our wedding: 1 – it has a seamless indoor Rain Plan that we came VERY close to using, and 2 – nice, accessible bathrooms with plenty of stalls)
Our wedding was on 10/14/22 with around 150 guests. We held our Ceremony on the Lawn overlooking the lake, Cocktail hour on the veranda, Reception in the Grand Ballroom, After party at the Hawkeye Grill. We also held our Welcome Gathering in the Kingfisher Tower Room on 10/13.
We stayed at the Otesaga with our family and wedding party, it was amazing to be able to have the whole weekend of events in one place. Guests in our room block had the hotel breakfast buffet included in their room rate. We arranged a shuttle from the Holiday Inn Express in Cooperstown to the wedding to accommodate more guests.
Megan Chase is the Otesaga’s event manager who gave us the royal treatment from our initial tour of the venue through the wedding day. She was always so responsive along the way, and made sure all of our details were attended to. Kayla also helped coordinate the Day Of, both ladies are fantastic to work with.
The food at the Otesaga exceeded expectations. We had a Yakitori station at the Welcome Gathering, and Megan helped us curate a menu that worked for that special event, based on the banquet catering menu.
On our wedding day we had passed hors d'oeuvres and a Mediterranean station for the cocktail hour, plus 2 signature cocktails: Dirty Martinis and French 75s. We had Filet Mignon, Chicken Scallopini and Mushroom Ravioli for the entrees. Everything was cooked perfectly and the guests all gave rave reviews. Our wedding cake was made by the Otesaga’s pastry chef, who also agreed to make Beignets to serve for dessert along with chocolate-covered strawberries.
Notes:
- The Otesaga hotel rooms book very far in advance, as do many other area hotels
- We had a 50-person shuttle, it was too large to drop guests at the lobby of the Otesaga. I’d advise to ask questions around these logistics when booking so you can ensure a seamless experience for your guests and on your wedding day.-

The. Best. Venue.
We recently got married at The Otesaga in October. Leading up to the event, I worked specifically with Amanda. She answered all of my questions (many of them silly, daunting, and repetitive) and provided me with assurance that everything would go smoothly, despite living out of state and being in panic mode as the countdown neared. She answered all of my questions, and even provided me with information on questions that I did not know to ask. She gave me input on the venue (taking measurements and providing feedback) and was extremely patient with my bazillion questions. She also provided me with referrals to vendors - and OMG, I HAD THE BEST VENDORS WITH MANY THANKS TO HER! When the wedding rolled around, she and the rest of the team DEFINITELY delivered! I swear my day would not have been the same elsewhere as many of the special touches were unique to the Otesaga vibe - both the picturesque of the resort, the staff that treated you like you were family, and not just guests, and the overall quaintness of Cooperstown for a wedding weekend filled with family and friends. It is worth also noting that EVERYONE was so great upon arrival. The doormen provided excellent advice on where to go in town, along with grabbing everything we needed when doing multiple trips! The staff at the front desk went above and beyond with everything, and all of my guests mirrored the same sentiment. The food was delicious and exceptions were made for picky eaters without hesitation. Amanda and Kayla had the reception room SO perfect and every one of my details worked out and displayed just as I would have wanted (literally could cry thinking back to that day and them putting my vision to life, without need for my involvement or check-ins). They had everything from the rehearsal, ceremony, to the end of the after-party, all so seamless. They even checked in after the event to make sure I was happy - both on site and over e-mail. I KNOW this is not the experience you would get elsewhere having talked to other brides and explored different venues. I am forever grateful for choosing The Otesaga to celebrate one of the best days of our lives, and the best part about the venue is that we cannot wait to go back each year and take in the views and reflect on our special day. Thank you Amanda, Kayla, and the rest of team at The Otesaga. You made my day perfect, let alone picture perfect. You are all HOF in my book!!!-

Highly Recommend!
This venue is absolutely stunning and provides the most amazing service! This venue really does it all from providing a place to stay on site for our out of town guest to even hosting the rehearsal dinner, welcome party, ceremony, reception, and even an after party! You really do not have to leave the venue at all which is amazing! We got married at the Otesaga on 9/3/22 after two years of planning due to the pandemic and had the pleasure of working with several coordinators – Amanda, Brooke and Felicia. Each of the coordinators were so easy to work with, responded quickly to emails, and really took care of everything on the day of the wedding for us. Even from the moment we arrived at the venue for our wedding weekend, the staff here really catered to us and made our wedding weekend feel so special. We were lucky enough to be able to check in early and the bell hops outside were able to help us unpack our car quickly and even brought all our wedding stuff to a closet to be stored for the day of the wedding. They really made the weekend as stress free as possible! As the bride, I can honestly say that I got to sit back and relax on the day of the wedding. The coordinators took care of everything for me and were constantly checking in to see if I needed anything at all. It was truly amazing and everything ran so smoothly without any hiccups.
We had the rehearsal dinner at the Otesaga outside on the veranda of the leatherstocking golf pro shop. The food and service was great! The coordinators even worked with the chef to come up with a buffet menu that our guests and us really enjoyed. We also had the welcome party located outside the Hawkeye Bar, where half the fire bar was reserved for our guests. It ended up being a colder night than expected and dipped into the low 40s, but the coordinators were nice enough to bring out blankets for our guests to keep warm without us even asking! Even the after party in the Hawkeye Bar after the wedding reception was amazing. The venue hired a DJ for the night who was amazing and our guests loved and the party continued until the bar shut down.
We also asked our guests for feedback about the wedding weekend and they could not say enough good things about the staff and service provided here, it is really top notch! Our guests said that the staff came up to the tables frequently during the reception and dinner and asked guests if they could get them any drinks from the open bar as well.
Lastly, our vendors for the wedding included DJ Vinney Vin (Non Stop Music); florist: Jackie Hull (A Rose is a Rose); Hair/Makeup: Timeless Salon; Photobooth: T&T Photobooth; officiant: Bishop Christopher Richard; photographer: Erin Camp Photography; Videography: Nostalgic Innovations; and Transportation: Leatherstocking Trolley. All these vendors did an amazing job and we also cannot thank them enough for making our dream wedding come true!

Breathtaking event!
The Otesaga went above and beyond for our wedding day. Our wedding day was extremely cold but, the ceremony still was 100% perfect and the reception afterwards was amazing. We had guest flying in from all over the world and everyone made sure to tell us that this was one of the most beautiful venues they had every seen. The food was also out of this world and everyone from the coordinators to the day of staff was perfect. We even had a slight emergency the following morning (husband had to go to the ER) and the staff was extremely helpful with getting all of our stuff gathered and making sure we were doing alright. I could not recommend the Otesaga enough to any bride looking for the perfect wedding! -

Gorgeous venue, flawless day
We loved working with the Otesaga from start to finish. We worked with Gordon as our coordinator and we was exceptional - hugely professional but very personable at the same time. The lake views here are unbeatable. The food and beverages were incredible. Staying on site made everything so easy for our wedding party. Could not say enough great things! We will be taking many anniversary trips back here. -

Magical day with the best events team!
We got married at Otesaga on 9/5/21. And it was nothing short of amazing. The grounds are breathtaking. Feels like it's stuck in time. The events manager, Gordon Clarkson, is the absolute best. I knew I didn't have to worry because Gordon and the team at Otesaga knew exactly what to do. The decorations were set up perfectly. The memory table was beautiful. It rained but we pushed forward with Gordon's encouragement and I'm so glad we did. The ring bearer didn't have the rings and Gordon quickly pivoted and got the rings to the altar without anyone noticing the mix up. We would get married at Otesaga every year if we could. It was the best wedding and weekend we could have imagined. Look no further, Otesaga really is the perfect venue. -

Beautiful Day, Beautiful Venue
While this venue was our dream, it would not have happened without Amanda Sittler (event planner/ manager). She made sure ever detail was planned and correct through the entire day. I don’t have enough kind words to say about her and the way she runs this place. I know i will look back forever and cherish these amazing memories this venue created. -

The PERFECT Wedding Venue
Having our wedding at the Otesaga was the best decision we could have ever made. It is HANDS DOWN the most magical place for a wedding in the upstate NY area, and the only thing more beautiful than the venue is the unbelievable team that works there.
Working with Megan Chase, the Event Manager at the Otesaga, was such an amazing experience. She was the definition of “calm, cool, and collected” no matter what, and made even the most stressful moments of wedding planning feel like a piece of cake. From beginning to end she was helpful, caring, communicative, hard-working, and an absolute pleasure to coordinate with.
The food, the staff, and the venue itself are all exceptional and exceeded every expectation — they truly allowed us to have the wedding of our dreams. I could not recommend the Otesaga more!-

The PERFECT Wedding Venue!
There are no words to express how truly wonderful the Otesaga Resort is as a wedding venue. My husband and I had our welcome event, ceremony, reception, after party, and morning-after breakfast at the Otesaga, and we could not be happier with how amazing everything was! The staff were incredible, the service was impeccable, and the views were breathtaking. Brooke was wonderful to work with and made our wedding vision come true. The decision to have our wedding at the Otesaga was the best decision we could have made and could not recommend it more highly to other couples. Look no further for your wedding venue, as the Otesaga is the perfect place to have your dream wedding! My husband and I look forward to celebrating our anniversary at the Otesaga in years to come!-

Such a beautiful venue and the best experience ever!
We cannot say enough nice things about our experience with The Otesaga. We, and all of our guests were treated like royalty during our wedding weekend and it was wonderful. They made the experience seamless and truly the best day ever. We worked with Brooke, and she came onto our account two months before our wedding due to some personnel changes and she was a rockstar! She handled all questions and issues and especially during the wedding day she directed our families and wedding party to come to her with any questions which was such a relief for us! We love The Otesaga and can't wait to go back to celebrate our anniversaries!-

Perfect Wedding Venue!!
We had both the wedding ceremony and the reception at the Otesaga in Cooperstown, and the entire experience was really wonderful from start to finish! All of the staff were so helpful, professional, calm and kind through the entire planning process as well as during the event itself. Every step along the way, from the flurry of nervous emails coming from me in the weeks leading up to the wedding weekend, to the beautiful onsite dressing rooms for the bridal party to get ready in, to the cuing us along during the ceremony, to the fantastic food and fun reception, there was some one there to make sure everything was going exactly as we wanted. Add all of that amazing service to the incredible scenery of the gorgeous lake and the breathtaking venue itself, and we could not have asked for a more perfect wedding! We are forever grateful to the lovely Otesaga and could not more highly recommend it to all engaged couples that are making their wedding plans. We are looking forward to returning to The Otesaga to celebrate our wedding anniversary and will cherish our memories there for years to come! -

Our Wedding Day Was Perfect!
Our wedding day was better than we could have ever imagined. The venue itself is stunning and the food is amazing. We were lucky enough to have a sunny fall day, so our ceremony was outside on the east lawn. Our cocktail hour was held on the east veranda, and our reception was in the main ballroom. There were other weddings at the hotel that day, but you couldn't even tell. It still felt very intimate. The flow of the entire day was perfect, all thanks to our coordinator Brooke. She was SO amazing to work with throughout the entire year. She had such great ideas, helped us through all stages of planning, and even ironed out details with our vendors as our wedding got closer. Our officiant was a first timer, so Brooke even helped us plan our ceremony details. She went above and beyond in so many ways and was there to help until the end of the reception. We cannot thank her enough. Our vendors were also incredible and we would recommend all of them. We went with A Rose is a Rose Florist -- Jackie is the BEST and the absolute sweetest. Her flowers lasted 3 weeks! Our DJ was Vinny from Non Stop Music. We are STILL getting compliments about the music, so definitely check him out. He also works with Outside the Booth Photobooth, which our guests loved. Our photographer was Katie from Clark + Walker Studio. She's super familiar with The Otesaga and had awesome ideas for places to shoot. Some of our guests stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, so we used Oneonta Bus Lines as our shuttle service. We highly recommend them as well. Long winded review, but we honestly had such a perfect wedding day and we owe it all to Brooke, The Otesaga, and our vendors. -

We got married at the Otesaga a few months ago and it was nothing short of spectacular! From the food, to the service and incredible scenery, our guests have told us it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. Our day of coordinator, Megan, was absolutely wonderful. She didn’t miss a beat or forget one tiny detail over the 1.5 years of planning. Thank you so much for everything!!!! We couldn’t be more happy about how everything turned out. -

Our wedding at The Otesaga was literally perfect, and I don’t abuse the word literally. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing. Between the ceremony on the flawlessly manicured lawn overlooking the water, the appetizers on the veranda at sunset, and the absolutely stunning ballroom, our guests had a wonderful time. Megan was amazing. She helped us with a tasting to narrow down the menu. She was always there to help with our unending stream of questions. And her staff executed everything exactly as I had envisioned it…better actually. -

We cannot say enough wonderful things about The Otesaga. It was the perfect wedding venue for us and our guests.
We all had the best weekend! Gordon, his team, and all of the staff at the hotel were FABULOUS!!! Everyone was extremely responsive, easy to work with and willing to do whatever they could to accommodate our needs and requests. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, the hotel rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and the food was fantastic. We will definitely be making it an annual trip to return to the Otesaga to celebrate our anniversary. -

I am not sure that I can say enough positive things about the Otesaga. Our wedding was absolutely perfect and they made it easy through the entire process. Our coordinator Megan responded quickly to emails, accommodated everything we asked for, and made the day seamless. Sadly the weather did not cooperate for an outdoor ceremony, which was a bit sad, but the venue is so unique and beautiful on the inside as well, that we had a beautiful and intimate ceremony inside. Food during cocktail hour was delicious and seemingly never ending and we had nothing but praise for all of the food/drinks and serving staff who were so attentive and helpful to all of our guests, including young children. Our waitress for the sweetheart table (April) remembered what we had bene drinking and had drinks waiting for us, boxed up our 1/2 eaten meals (they were delicious, we were just too busy socializing to sit for long), as well as our cake and other desserts for us to take back to our room. Everything was set up beautifully without us having to do anything on the day of the wedding, they literally took care of it all. We had rooms for both the men and women to get ready in as well as a babysitting room. The venue is so special and beautiful and everyone who works there makes sure that all guests feel special and have a great time. All of our guests had such a great time we are really grateful for the entire staff. -

The Otesaga speaks for itself with overall character and beauty. The setting right on the lake makes for a gorgeous ceremony rain or shine. The rooms and interior are unbelievably beautiful from the tall ceilings the molding and the decor to keep a modern historic look to it. It was everything we were going for, a vintage romantic look. The staff at the Otesaga was amazing from dealing with rooms, to Brooke who helped us plan almost everything. They do wedding all the time so they were always there for advice when needed. They were always adaptable. Working in customer service I know how much they really go through just to make their clients happy. Our wedding at the Otesaga resort was more than fairytale it was magical! -

Amazing venue! Yes Cooperstown is a bit out of the way, but it is worth it once you get there, and there is nothing more you could want out of a venue like the Otesaga. Super professional and helpful staff that will accommodate any request. The view and setting is so awesome, its like something out of a movie. All of our guests are still talking about how amazing it was. You will not be disappointed with this venue! -

The Otesaga provided my husband and I with our dream wedding. We worked with Melissa and Gordon, who both ensured that everything would run smoothly for our big day. I was most impressed with the professionalism of every staff member and the ability to accommodate even last minute details. It was clear that the wedding staff knew exactly what they were doing and knew how to provide a flawless, yet very personalized wedding. The grounds, ballroom and veranda were spectacular and I couldn't have imagined a more gorgeous wedding venue. -

Gordon and his team at the Otesaga are amazing. I've known Gordon for years and I was so happy to finally get to work with him! We had planned to have the dinner at the Leatherstocking Patio but sadly, the weather wasn't on our side. Gordon and his team seamlessly moved the large dinner (60+ people) over to the Otesaga and you would not have been able to tell what they presented wasn't the original plan. The food, the service, everything was wonderful! -

Gorgeous Venue, Impeccable Service!
We were lucky enough to get married at this beautiful hotel set on Lake Otsego in Cooperstown, NY. All the staff at the Otesaga were extremely attentive and helpful. The event manager, Gordon, was great and managed all the details of our ceremony and reception, ensuring that everything went as planned on the big day. The food at the Otesaga is amazing and the quality of the food is not at all downgraded for wedding receptions. We were also able to have our rehearsal dinner on site which provided us with another amazing meal and experience. The rooms of the hotel each have their own personal charm. Overall the Otesaga provided us with the most beautiful and relaxing backdrop a bride and groom could ask for! -

I couldn't be happier with our choice of The Otesaga Hotel for our venue. The setting on the lake is beautiful and the ballrooms are so grand that you really don't need any other decorations. We worked with Melissa who was very professional and promptly answered all of our questions as we were planning remotely. The staff was very friendly and extremely accommodating, they spent the extra effort to make sure we had everything we needed. -

We had our wedding here last month, and could not have been happier with our choice in venues. From the beautiful ceremony by the lake, to the cocktail hour on the veranda, reception in the ballroom and post-reception drinks by their impressive outdoor fireplace, everything was perfect! Our guests could not stop raving about how gorgeous The Otesaga was. Our coordinator, Melissa, was equally as amazing. We stopped in one day without an appointment and she quickly met us to show us around and answer all of our questions. We were planning the wedding from out of state and Melissa made it so easy with her professionalism, responsiveness, organization, and flexibility. She was open to any and all of our ideas and made sure that nothing was missed! Once our wedding day arrived, Melissa made sure that everything was set up exactly as we requested. She oversaw each and every step of the day flawlessly, which gave me and my husband the peace of mind to relax and enjoy our day. We can’t wait to get back here sometime soon! I would highly recommend The Otesaga for your wedding, a nice brunch or dinner, a weekend away, etc. Such a stunning and hospitable resort! -

We had our wedding in the off season so it was a winter wonderland (literally) and it was private event for our friends and family, which was important for us. We were able to guarantee enough rooms that we could re-open the hotel for the weekend. We worked with Melissa Reinheimer as our Event Manager and I cannot say enough about her. We worked with her for 10 months planning our wedding and she knows the hotel and the business very well. The weekend of our event went so smooth-from the rehearsal, to the ceremony, to the reception- the food and the service, everything far exceeded our expectations and I would recommend The Otesaga to anyone! -

The Otesaga Resort catered our wedding and we were incredibly pleased with the food and beverages. Our guests raved about the variety and how delicious everything was. We enjoyed our pre-wedding consultation, too. (Make sure to try the lobster mac n cheese, it's amazing!) Melissa Reinheimer was hands down one of the best event coordinators I've ever worked with, too. She was friendly, helpful, responsive, cheery, organized, proactive, and really went out of her way to make everything special - we couldn't have asked for anything more! We liked her so much, we asked her to be our day-of-event coordinator, too. She is a true gem! The entire team at the Otesaga was exceptional - from the head chef, to all of the servers and bartenders at the reception. We could not have been more impressed or pleased with our entire experience with the Otesaga! -

I grew up spending my summers in Cooperstown, and had always wanted to get married at the Otesaga. When it finally happened in September of 2013, it was even better than I had ever imagined. Gorgeous views, accommodating staff, and delicious food!
Melissa Reinheimer at the Otesaga was an absolute life saver. She was so friendly and easy to deal with - and so helpful in planning everything! From helping us hand pick our food and drink menus, to handling EVERTHING day of. She made my special day go so smoothly, I absolutely could not have done it without her- She even went out mid ceremony to get me a red bull.
I love love LOVED my experience at the Otesaga and would recommend them to ANYONE! -

Our daughter and son-in-law were married at the Otesaga on June 1, 2013. From the lovely ceremony on the lawn overlooking the lake, to the elegant cocktail party on the veranda, to the dinner reception in the ballroom...it was all perfect! Gordon Clarkson, our event planner was top-notch! He had everything under control from the beginning! An absolute professional in every way. The food was delicious and elegantly presented. The wait staff and bartenders took extremely good care of our guests! So many guests told us that they had never been to a better wedding! After the reception, we continued the party downstairs in the bar. Gordon arranged late night food for our guests and most of them continued to dance and drink and eat until 2:00 am! We received so many calls and notes from guests stating that it was such a marvelous event! We can't say enough about how wonderful Gordon Clarkson and the Otesaga staff were in making it a special weekend! -

If you are looking at The Otesaga to hold your wedding at. Do yourself a favor and stop the search. The ballroom and views of the lake are so simply gorgeous. The rooms are charming and unique. The hotel staff are exceptionally well trained in service and hospitality. We worked with Gordon as our event planner and he is the best. He is so accommodating in helping you make your wedding day everything you dreamed of. From the moment we showed up at the hotel two days before our wedding we were worry free in his hands. Additionally our mothers' put together our rehearsal dinner with him and couldn't sing his praises loud enough. We were so grateful to have had our wedding weekend at the Otesaga and very much look forward to our return for our anniversary! -

The food, quality of service and setting were all on point. We had a perfect day and the guests loved the cocktail hour out on the veranda. Our wedding coordinator stayed until the end of the night to make sure everything went perfectly. After the reception, we had S'mores outside and lit lanterns off over the lake. It was perfect. If I could do the day over, I wouldn't change a second of the time we spent at the Otesaga. I highly recommend this space for your reception. -

I'm so glad I had my wedding at the Otesaga. Many of my guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they had been to and this is due in large part to the location. I took off a half point for flexibility because you have to use their in-house caterer. That being said, the service and food were very good and everything ran like clockwork. I didn't have an interest in spending extra time planning so the package thing was ideal for me. And while they have packages, you can personalize to a degree. This is definitely not a wedding mill. -

Top notch! Had our ceremony and reception at the otesaga the Sunday of LDW. We were the last of the weddings that wknd (at least 2xday from Fri-Sun and I believe 4 on site in some capacity on our day). That didn't matter one bit-our wedding was just as amazing as if it was the only one. We worked with Brooke-She is the definition of professional. We threw so many random requests at her to make our big day unique and I was blown away when I got the wedding BEO form & all these requests were included. She didn't miss a thing! As a luxury resort, you may guess weddings would be pretentious But completely opposite-warm & accommodating. The day of our wedding we were treated like royalty with a room for the girls to get ready complete with steamer, mirrors, tables & water. Our ceremony was on the lawn overlooking the lake & the hotel even setup the chairs in a circular fashion with no objections bc I wanted a more intimate seating arrangement! Picturesque Cocktail hour on the veranda: Guests raved about the crudités & passed apps. The groom & I even had our own personal platter along with cocktails when we were taking photos so we didn't miss cocktail hour completely! During the reception we had our own personal server. Amazing food: Guests even received new plates when staff noticed the filet was not cooked to perfection! We live in Pittsburgh w/ the tradition of the cookie table. The hotel gave us a stunning cookie room with all of our desserts on display resembling a dessert boutique! For decor, I had all different centerpieces and the staff made the ballroom the most beautiful venue I've seen with only direction from me: "put things where they look nice." I could go on, but all you need to know is that this venue is so high class w/o being obnoxious or fussy. Our guests thanked us for having our wedding in one of NYs most beautiful locations. We can't stop taking about our perfect wedding and thank Brooke & the entire staff at the Otesaga for making that happen! -

Gordon and his team are experienced professionals that pay attention to all the details . Gordon's advice along the way was precious! The Otesaga is a beautiful place for a wedding and for the price, it really isn't that bad. The food was great and for the most part they were pretty flexible on things. They did forget a few items that I had wanted for the food but no one walked away hungry. One thing that was kind of annoying was that when we had gone for a tour of the place we had asked if we could get a group of rooms we could get a discount and the person said yes and told us it would be around $200 a night with a two night minimum. Then when we went to call to group the rooms, they changed what they had said before- no group discount and price was way too much for our guests. (As the majority of our guests were from out of town) It was very accommodating when it came to decorating and putting things together- they did a lot- which was wonderful. But overall I wouldn't have changed to any other place around upstate NY. This is the best place to have your wedding. -

The Otesaga is an amazing venue and the perfect place for us to live out our dream wedding! Breathtaking lake views, professional staff, and luxurious atmosphere! After meeting with Gordon (Event Coordinator) and touring the hotel and grounds, we immediately knew this was where we were going to get married!
Gordon is a consummate professional, who is knowledgable and experienced in coordinating weddings. He's easy to work with, humorous at times to lighten the pressure and mood, and highly organized with wedding preparations.
The food, drinks, and service were top notch! They excelled in making our guests comfortable and delivered impressive service!
Since the Otesaga is a popular venue, their availability becomes limited, especially during the summer. We had to book our wedding over a year in advance to get the date we wanted.
Our reception was only allowed to go until 10pm, due to hotel policy, with respects to the other guests who are staying above the ball room...which is a little disappointing. BUT, their fire pit bar was a great place to continue the after party.
Unfortunately, afew of our guests who stayed at the hotel, complained to us about charges that were mistaking added to their bill. We had a similar problem, to where we were charged for dinner and drinks at 8:30pm, which was during the time of our wedding! Simple fix, but not a mistake that you expect the Otesaga to make.
We highly recommend this venue and Gordon, for anyone to have a beautiful wedding!

The Otesaga was the perfect venue for our wedding - we were fortunate enough to have a gorgeous fall day, holding the ceremony outside with the mountains in the background. All of our guests were in love with the scenic backdrop. Brooke and the staff were attentive and made sure the day went very smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious across the board, the decor and the service was wonderful, and we had a beautiful, comfortable suite that we stayed in as well with a view overlooking the water. Brooke was able to accommodate whatever we needed in the days leading up to the wedding as well - from pulling off a surprise for the groom at the reception, planning an awesome bonfire after party, and helping setup brunch with our family the morning after the wedding. All in all a truly great experience! -

I recently had my wedding at the Otesaga in July 2017. Brooke and her team were so helpful through the entire planning process. She was extremely accommodating when it came to planning my wedding long distance, going out of her way to take measurements of specific things, or areas for me. She really helped me pull my dream wedding together. The only reason I would have to deduct stars from all 5s would be because of the pastry chef. We had a meeting with him about a year before the wedding, at which I gave him the photo of the cake I wanted. About a week before the wedding we were finally able to get a hold of the pastry chef, and he said he hadn't figure out how to achieve what i wanted because he didn't know what i wanted, even though I had given him a picture. I spent the last week before my wedding tracking down edible glitter online ordering and testing out all the different kinds, and had to figure it out for him. The cake itself was yummy, but i wasn't impressed with the decoration of it. But I also didn't have a typical wedding cake. The Flowers on the cake are hideous but i think that had to do with the florist and no the pastry chef.-

Overall, the Otesaga was a great choice for our wedding venue. You cannot argue with the setting and the view. The building is truly amazing and is an extremely impressive venue for any event. Our planning process with the Otesaga was almost seamless, they were very attentive and flexible to our needs. The value for our cost was pretty good - the Otesaga did throw in a few things and was willing to customize and negotiate with the things that were important to us. They were professional throughout the process, but also very busy so we didn't always hear back from them right away - but would get a response within a few days.
One thing I will say is that they were extremely accommodating to us when it came to room setup and decor- we went with a non-traditional room configuration and contributed much of the decor ourselves but the Otesaga didn't miss a beat with any of it. The food was delicious and we received many compliments about the entrees that were served. The staff on the day of was very professional and unintrusive, allowing us to not have to think about anything and focus on our guests and enjoying our day.
The only real issue we did have was the extensive construction going on in front of the building on our wedding day, which was only communicated to us about a week before the wedding. Although this did not affect our wedding events itself, part of the reason we selected this venue was the feeling of a grand entrance you get from first pulling up through the driveway and into the grand lobby - which none of our guests could do because it was closed and completely fenced off. We also could not take any photographs out front. Management at the Otesaga was not very apologetic, claiming that the work was emergency last minute and unavoidable - which we found out later from a staff member wasn't exactly the case (it had been planned for some time and the Otesaga failed to disclose it until the last minute when it would have been too late for us to change venues). They also refused to give us any monetary consideration or extra value "credit" for the situation - claiming we already had been given considerable discounts on our package. We did not think this was the best way to handle the situation, even if they had added a small element to our package we would have felt considerably better about the situation - instead of feeling deceived. in the end, it was still an amazing day at a beautiful venue, but when you are paying such a large sum of money for a venue such as the Otesaga you would expect this situation would have been handled better. -

Beautiful venue, but too many mistakes
Four months after our wedding, my husband and I remain disappointed by the Otesaga. The wedding planning process was plagued with errors – we were sent incorrect contracts, our emails would go unanswered for weeks, and we weren’t ever told that our event coordinator had quit (we eventually discovered it from an email auto-reply). We could forgive the planning mistakes if the Otesaga had nailed the actual wedding weekend, but the wedding weekend was also full of mistakes.
First, the Otesaga set up our reception incorrectly. They didn’t use the chairs we paid extra for, but the hotel’s own brown conference chairs. My husband and I noticed this mistake 45 minutes before our reception started and told the events team. They said they couldn’t switch the chairs without permission from our event coordinator, who was nowhere to be found. 45 minutes later, our guests were ushered into the ballroom before our coordinator was found and before the chairs were changed. We're still annoyed every time we see a picture of those chairs!
Second, we reserved the Otesaga’s porch for our wedding breakfast. When we woke up and looked out the window, we saw that no tables were set up. Again we tried to contact our event coordinator, to no avail. And when we went down to the ballroom and asked the events team to relocate our tables, we were told it was impossible as there was not enough staff on hand. Our wedding breakfast ended up taking place alongside the buffet breakfast for hotel guests.
Third, many of our guests reported problems with the Otesaga’s reservations team such as getting yelled at by staff and getting quoted wrong room rates. For example, the sister of the groom was told (with an attitude that has no place in the hospitality industry) that she had to pay for two rooms (the Otesaga cited a double booking) until she pointed out she had only ever received one confirmation email and the Otesaga admitted their mistake.
On the morning after the wedding we were asked to spend an hour detailing these errors to our event coordinator, who had finally appeared. To their credit, they were apologetic and promised us a $1,500 refund as an apology for their mistakes. We never received that money.
The Otesaga is beautiful, the rooms are lovely, and food was delicious. But long story short, the events coordinators (Gordon, Erica, Latoya, Felicia) were not on site for our wedding and details outlined explicitly in our contract were not delivered. The events team did not provide the service we’d expect for the amount of money we paid. While the Otesaga remains a beautiful place to get married, based on our experience, we can’t recommend that future couples rely solely on the events team. Get an outside planner that can keep them in check!-

First I want to say, the beauty of the hotel speaks for its self. There really is not a rating for how perfect the setting is. Our day before our wedding it rained all day and night and the morning of, we were concerned that we would not be able to have the ceremony on the grass, so they had it set up outside and inside and I made the call 15 minutes before, so that was very helpful. I would have been very bummed out if it wasn't outside. The only biggest problem we had was communication on event planning staff. I was living in Florida trying to plan this wedding, the lack of responsiveness was extremely hard to deal with when you are planning details out. Next problem related to communication was that weekend, we were told to leave stuff downstairs with them and then to find out when the priest got there we were no supposed to so 15 minutes before the ceremony we had my mom, and the best man running around the hotel trying to find the wedding coordinator who had our rings, and no one could find her. NOT what you want to be worrying about before walking down the isle. Our wedding was very small total 24 people including the bridal party, fairly easy to take care of id think. After ordering and the appetizers where coming out I noticed my photographer and her assistant sitting there with no drink or anything, So I got up and I asked if they ordered or needed anything and they informed me no one has taken their order. I thought that was very rude considering we paid for vendor meals. Then time for champagne toast. There was no champagne around? They completely forgot to set up our champagne toast. Not once during our reception did the coordination come in and ask how everything was going or if we needed anything. This was HIGHLY disappointing considering how much we paid. I am not one to sit here and bash certain people do I will not give a names. The ceremony and the memory of us getting married is what mattered to me, and that was perfect. -

The Otesaga is a gorgeous venue in a great location, and the food is great. The planning staff leave quite a bit to be desired unfortunately. I had a formal, but smaller wedding, and I have a lot of event experience so I had everything planned out on my own. Unfortunately it was extremely difficult to get the event staff engaged in my wedding planning. Even from the beginning! We visited from 2 hours away to meet with the planner and take a tour of the venue. We booked a room and took time off work. On the way there, we got lost. I told her we were lost and now would be late, and she told me she wasn’t going to wait, and sent me a map of the hotel to show myself around. I asked if we could reschedule for over the weekend since we were making the trip solely for that visit and was told no. The rest of the planning went that way mostly, right up to an hour before the ceremony where I was told the white linens I had been promised for my reception weren’t available, but I could have white tablecloths (not floor length) if I wanted. Also when we arrived for our wedding, the suite-like room we had booked a year in advance had been given away and we were given a traditional room. The reservation manager was lovely and ended up sorting it out for us though.
The pastry chef and wait staff were all wonderful, the venue was beautiful, and all of the other employees I encountered were fantastic. However if I hadn’t had event planning experience as well as bringing my own wedding day coordinator, I don’t have confidence that my day would have gone as nicely as it did due to the planning piece. I definitely wasn’t made to feel like a priority as a bride!
This is a good venue but I would suggest hiring a private planner. -
