Oh my, where do I start?! Prior to discovering The Olde Farmhouse Barn, I saw and researched countless of wedding venues and none of them could meet my expectations. What all of the other venues lacked and that The Olde Farmhouse Barn doesn't lack, is a beautiful, secluded, romantic wedding venue with the absolute best care/hospitality and service-and it’s all AFFORDABLE! When I was looking for a venue, I wanted a wedding venue that could accommodate a large wedding of 150 guests without using a tent, that was easy to plan from away as we wanted a destination wedding, that had both outdoor and indoor areas for the ceremony and reception (and at the same location), that was known for phenomenal food, that was secluded for privacy but large enough that my guests could step away and relax from the loud party, that had enough outdoor space for my guests to have fun and play lawn games, that required little decorating and had lots of naturally beauty, and a venue that reminisced elegant meets country (like a vineyard in Traverse City or a historic Plantation in Georgia) complete with China, silverware, and glasses. And I got all of that and so much more on my wedding day (all with a very very affordable price tag)! From start to finish, Andy and Shannon (the owners, caterers, and wedding venue coordinators) made my dreams come true. They went above and beyond every step of the way from the wedding planning process all the way up until the day after our wedding! Andy and Shannon have a special way of making their couples feel like family. They are honest, humble, giving people who show that in their work and their life. The amount of attention and time they gave to me and my husband during the wedding process made me believe that we were their only wedding during the summer-that’s how good they are at what they do! On top of their amazing hospitality, the food was TO DIE FOR!!! I absolutely love food (a little too much lol) and every single bit of the food was exactly what they promised-including everything is made from scratch and is fresh! From the Pulled Pork to the Mac and Cheese, to the seasoned summer veggies, everything was warm, delicious and presented beautifully and skillfully. Shannon and Andy made my day, the day that it was and I couldn’t imagine having such a wonderful experience with any of the other Venue coordinators I met with (which is A LOT)-Andy, Shannon, Pistachio’s Catering and The Olde Farmhouse Barn truly deserve award for the outstanding service they provide their brides and grooms, and all customers. The only regret I have about my wedding is not eating more Mac and Cheese! So, to any Bride who overlooks the Olde Farmhouse Barn, Pistachio’s Catering, and the amazing team behind them, is surely missing out on their dream wedding day. From a Newlywed Bride to a Soon-to-be-Bride, you won’t regret booking the The Olde Farmhouse Barn, but you will if you don’t! -

This is the most beautiful venue for a rustic elegant wedding. We had our wedding here on June 19th, 2021. Shannon and Andy are so professional and are great with communication. The food was delicious, the staff was amazing, and the venue itself was gorgeous. We had so many compliments about our wedding. The late night pretzel bar was most definitely a hit. We planned a wedding during a pandemic and found out that our original venue was permanently closing so we had to find a whole new venue one month away from our wedding. They pulled it off and helped me and my husband to have our dream wedding. We can’t say enough good things about this venue and we highly recommended for anyone looking for a classy barn venue. -

Outstanding!
Shannon and Andy have such a great thing going with this venue! The location is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful with so many fantastic back drops for photos or the ceremony. They are so happy to work with couples on crazy ideas and put up with countless questions with such patience. They are both very friendly, approachable, and available. The food was mouthwatering, and they worked with us so well on making menus to fit the entire range of guests. The desserts (cupcakes and cake) were so delicious, we had none left!!! People kept going back for more! Absolutely everything from start to finish was on-the-spot perfect which is saying a lot for having a wedding during Covid! They adapted so well to the unpleasantness and dealt with every situation as it arose. I want to groundhog day and rewind time and go back to our wedding day over and over to keep reliving the beauty. -

Amazingly Creative!
When a national pandemic threatened to end my son’s wedding plans for this year, Andy and Shannon Minor stepped up to make it a memorable experience. They researched ways to make it safe for the small number of people gathered. Their creative style and close attention to detail was incredible. Despite some necessary changes due to the pandemic, this wedding was definitely not something we just “settled for.” Thanks to these owners, it was a dream come true! -

I had my second wedding here, after looking at a lot of venues. After my bride and I met with Shannon and Andrew Minor, we knew that we would be in great hands. Both of them, and all of their staff, handled every detail with such care and attention. We never had to worry about anything. And the setting was so beautiful… a perfect combination of rustic charm and classic elegance. Everyone had a great time… and it was a perfect start to my second (and final) marriage! -

From the get-go our experience was great! We had a quick response time and we were able to visit the venue at a convenient time for us. We booked a long ways ahead of our wedding date. Throughout the entire process we kept in touch with Andy and Shannon. They are the most thoughtful and kind people we have ever met. They made our wedding day flow beautifully and as a bride, that is really all you could ask for! If I could rate them higher than 5 stars I would. I wish every business owner cared about their clients like these people do. Beautiful venue. I could go on for hours about how much I loved our experience but I will end it with if you are a bride reading reviews to choose the perfect wedding day, seriously, look no further. I promise you won't regret it. -

The Olde Farmhouse Barn in Marshall, Michigan was truly a "magical" place for us. Both Shannon & Andy, from the beginning, were amazing! Their catering service, Pistachios, was delicious (and deserves its own review)! They listened to our needs & wants and helped guide us on our pre-wedding journey!
The entire journey was exciting and naturally, overwhelming at times, but beautiful and I simply wanted to take in the entire experience! Bare with me, haha, this is going to be long, but deserving.....
To preface, as a bride-to-be, I had "waited" for my "right person" and wedding experience pretty much my whole life.... and here it was... happening right before my eyes. Once we booked with The Olde Farmhouse barn (etc), the time flew by! I wasn't nervous. I didn't have cold feet. I knew this was my person and this was meant to be. We knew what our wedding vision was, so there wasn't any need to freak out, per say.
Basically in a nutshell, the process of preparing wasn't as scary or as extremely overwhelming as I've heard it to be. Partially, because we kept things simple like decorations and choosing cupcakes... and primarily, The Olde Farmhouse Barn already had everything we needed or wanted! Their decorations truly were the biggest help. The lighting, the yard games, the fire pit, the staff, etc!! Andy always made sure we were happy, confident & content with everything!
When the day came, again, I wasn't scared or nervous at all... everyone checked in with me and my response was always "I'm just excited!!!" Then...2pm came around (wedding at 4pm) and it hit me....I started to become overwhelmed and anxious. The weather became erratic and so did my emotions. Fast forward to 4:10pm...on my way to the the barn with my bridesmaids... terribly concerned with the weather and was already late to my own wedding (of course lol), Shannon reminded me that "everything is okay! That everyone was socializing with each other in the barn, not getting wet!" lol, and not stress out over details! I was thankful, but my mind couldn't sit still (not in a bad way....something you'll understand when the time comes, I suppose)! We pull up to the bridal suite and I just lose it...I began crying! Cried my way right into the suite! Shannon reassured me that everything was wonderful! That we've got this!
I wasn't crying because I was upset, I mean yes- I'd hoped that the weather would be perfect, but I was crying because I was so overcome with happiness...this truly was one of thee best days of my life! Pulling into the barn driveway was like a beautiful dream...a fairytale dream type of feeling.
I cried and I laughed! The food was delicious! ProDj's entertainment were amazing and we just had thee most beautiful experience that will always be in our hearts for the rest of time!
So...would I suggest The Olde Farmhouse Barn? *Absolutely*, 100 times over! To Shannon and Andy, you both were amazing to us and for us! Thank you so much for being such a huge part in a day we'll never forget! -

Danielle Sent on 12/01/2017The day we first visited the barn, I fell in love. I knew that this is where I would get married. Andy and Shannon were amazing to work with. They did everything we wanted and always had smiles on their faces. The value is amazing, they did all of the work and made the entire experience so easy. I would 100% recommend them to anyone who wants a rustic, outdoor wedding. The setting was beautiful, I mean how can you beat a gorgeous red barn and exquisite property. When I asked if we could bring out some games, they were so excited and even brought out a few of their own! The set up process was perfect and anything that I wanted to change, they did right away. The pictures turned out better than I could have ever imagined with all of the beautiful colors. If I ever have to have another big event I will definitely be having it at The Olde Farmhouse Barn. -

Best day ever!
My husband and I got married at The Olde Farmhouse barn July of 2018 and it was the best day ever! We fell In love with the place the second we saw it. When the big day came Andy, Shannon, and all the staff helped make it perfect. The money we spent was WELL worth it! The food was amazing, the service was great, and Andy and Shannon are overall wonderful people to work with! If you have always dreamed of the perfect country barn wedding this is your place! -

DURING OUR CONVERSATION OBOUT PRICING I WAS MADE TO FEEL LIKE I WAS BEING TOLD MY BUDGE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT ENOUGH. I WAS TOLD " I believe that the wedding books or websites out there don't really gives realistic prices of weddings. " I DID NOT APPRECIATE THAT, I HAVE BEEN A WEDDING PLANNER FOR YEAR AND KNOW WHAT CAN BE DONE ON MY BURGET. I DID NOT THINK THAT WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. -

First, I want to say it pains me to write this review since our wedding day was beautiful and perfect and everything I could have wanted. The venue was gorgeous the day of and aesthetically what we were picturing for our day. We had a very fun time, despite a few hiccups throughout the day. I truly wish I didn’t have these complaints but I feel like its important to capture exactly what our planning and wedding experience was.
Communication was a huge issue throughout the entire planning process. We initially spoke with Andy (Co-owner and Chef) for our tour and were given a quote that fit our budget with a lot of sales talk about what they could provide. We signed the contract in February 2020 before they had their updated contract. The one we signed seemed outdated (Andy kept saying to ignore certain sections as they no longer were relevant) which looking back, should have been a red flag that they didn’t have an updated contract. We learned about all the hidden costs right before our wedding which was a shock. Andy is a great salesman who will make it seem like the budget is reachable but unfortunately it was not communicated to Shannon (Co-owner and Manager). More so, getting our quote for the catering cost was difficult and we did not receive it until about a month and a half before our wedding. My husband had to call and complain after multiple emails were met with silence or excuses for not providing suitable responses to questions. There were also several occasions where she would bad talk other couples or past clients which we found unprofessional and off-putting.
The day of the wedding, we had guests complain that Shannon had made mentions about past wedding parties and guests that had broken rules or been unruly. Unfortunately, these pointed remarks made our wedding party and guest feel like they were guilty or being watched when they had not broken any rules. We understand that there is a certain liability with owning and running a wedding venue but we don’t believe that we should be judged or made to feel like we are walking on eggshells on the wedding day.
Furthermore, Shannon was overheard judging and complaining about me on my wedding day just prior to the ceremony. This instance was regarding my wish to have their chevari chairs in the reception space. Unfortunately, this was just another product of lack of communication between the two owners. We were informed that they would be available for our wedding, and this was not communicated to Shannon. This request to have the chairs was met with displeasure. Ultimately, the chairs were provided, which was very appreciated. However, the snarky remarks were not.
More so, the lawn for the ceremony space was not sprayed for insects. We do realize we booked an outdoor venue but we believe the ground should at least be inspected for biting insects. I had a fire ant colony swarm my dress and bite up my legs while trying to take family photos. This was stressful and disappointing because I am worried that it cut my family photo time short.
Pistachio’s Catering (Owned by Andy and Shannon) did have tasty wedding food and the display was excellent. Their wait staff was friendly and professional. However, we did have a few guests find mold on their rolls early on in dinner. When this was brought to the attention of Andy by one of our guests, the rolls were removed from the buffet. However, there was no announcement that the rolls should be replaced, which resulted in another guest finding moldy bread on their plate. This was incredibly disappointing and embarrassing for us to serve our friends and family moldy food. Unfortunately, this was just completely unacceptable and a disregard for our guest’s health and safety. We also received no explanation or apology for that either.
These instances are just some of the things we encountered during the wedding planning process. Ultimately, we had a great time but felt it was necessary to reflect our honest experience.
