This was the perfect venue for our winter wedding. Peggy and Dave went above and beyond to help us hang up about a million lights around the house and make sure we didn't blow anything up in the process. If you want to have a smooth wedding with a stunning backdrop, choose this venue- we cannot recommend it enough! -

Beautiful & Great Value!
We had the most wonderful Christmas wedding at the Manor House at King's Charter! We loved the feel of the cozy, historic space and thought it would make for a great Christmas wedding venue. Many other people have used the beautiful garden area in the spring and fall, but we only utilized the indoor space. Kristen was our day-of coordinator and she did an outstanding job. January 2020 Wedding
The Manor House is a great place for a couple looking for a unique venue! The building is an old historic home with multiple rooms and beautiful outside gardens that can both be used for the ceremony and reception. It’s so versatile! We had about 150 people at our wedding and had our ceremony outside and our reception inside. We easily fit everyone inside for food and dancing! We made room for the dance floor by moving 3 tables out of the ballroom after dinner. Mary Jane is the optional coordinator that you can pay extra to have once you book a wedding at the Manor House. We hired her to be our wedding coordinator starting two months out from the wedding date. She handled all of the communication with our vendors, set up all of our decor, and made sure our day ran smoothly. She is amazing and has an impeccable attention to detail! Lastly, depending on what time of year you have your wedding at the manor house, it is pretty affordable. Because of the venue’s affordability, we were able to splurge on other small details that I wouldn’t be able to afford to do else-ware. I highly recommend this venue! -

The Manor House at Kings Charter is by far one of the BEST venues to have a wedding. My coordinator Mary Jane was a pleasure to work with and I couldn’t ask for anyone better. It rained on my wedding day and she handled it a smile the entire day. To know her, is to LOVE her! My wedding was everything I could ask for. The Manor House is affordable and one of the most beautiful venues I have ever seen. If you are looking for a dream wedding, The Manor House at Kings Charter is the place to be. You won’t regret it! -

Andrew and I recently had our wedding at the Manor House and have gotten such great feedback. The outdoor ceremony was cozy and charming. Plenty of space for our 130 guests to! Mary Jane was our day of coordinator and was so professional and helped out in every way! She even let me store my flowers in the basement 2 days prior so they wouldn’t start to wilt. She was so informative and flexible. We would recommend this venue to anyone. It has that charm and cozy feeling while also being able to host up to 150 guests. -

Great Experience!! We loved the Manor House and so glad we choose it as our wedding venue. We loved the option of having the ceremony outside/inside. As it was a beautiful day (albeit it hot), I was able to have the ceremony at the gazebo for our 80 guests. The grounds are beautiful and the house is historic with lots of character and gorgeous! My husband and I first met with Mary Jane and she was so sweet and answered all our questions. We then met with Jenefer and she also very sweet to work with and we hired her as our day coordinator. They are flexible with you coming in for visits and working out all the details and ensuring the bride does absolutely NOTHING on her wedding day! I highly recommend this venue for wedding/anniversary/birthdays or anything! -

The Manor House at King's Charter was the perfect venue for our intimate, 75 person wedding. It was beautiful even before we added any of our own decor, and offered plenty of space and options on where and how we wanted our ceremony and reception to be laid out. We had a lovely ceremony by the gazebo, reception in the ballroom, and beautiful pictures in the courtyard. Everyone in attendance complimented how pretty and awesome the location was. Mary Jane and Jenefer were both amazing to work with, and Jenefer's day-of-coordination services were an absolute godsend. Definitely do yourself a favor and hire one of these ladies to help you on your big day, you won't regret it! -

Beautiful, unique venue. Amazing coordinator!
We had our wedding at the Manor House on Saturday October 20th and it was absolutely perfect! It's such a gorgeous and unique venue! We had our ceremony under the gazebo, dinner outside in the lawn under the stars and bistro lights! And ended the evening with dancing and donuts inside! Mary Jane was so wonderful and worked so incredibly hard to make sure our day ran smoothly and my vision came to life! She is so sweet and helpful and every question or worry I had she was very quick to answer. I honestly do not think I would have had such an amazing wedding if it wasn't for her. So do yourself a favor and go tour this venue and see what I mean for yourself! You will be so glad you did! -

The Manor House was the first venue we viewed and knew immediately it was going to be the best one. Not only was the house gorgeous and so versatile (we literally used every single room and all of outside) Mary Jane was SUCH a fantastic coordinator. She answered every single email promptly (probably over 100) and was so sweet to us the entire time. I thought I'd have a lot to worry about the day of but she took care of everything before I even had to ask. It felt like she became so invested in our wedding and wanted it to be a success, she became more of a friend than someone who worked there. I would recommend this venue (and Mary Jane) to anyone considering getting married, they helped so much and made it such a stress free day which is so important! Not to mention their recommended vendors are amazing and we chose almost all of them! -

From the moment we pulled up to the grounds and sat down with Mary Jane, we knew that's where we belonged. She was able to take our ideas, add to them, and remain true to the dream day we envisioned. It was absolutely stress-free, she took care of every aspect of our day from start to finish. Our ceremony went off without a hitch. Our guests were more than catered to. The venue was picture perfect after a hurricane took down a tree on our chosen ceremony site... and nobody could ever tell! She made plates for my husband(!!) and I before anyone else--we got to sit and eat at our reception! (never without a drink in hand). She coordinated the party we never thought was possible. For that, we cannot give The Manor House enough praise. We were gifted a commemorative sketch of the stunning venue that we will forever cherish! Thank you to the crew, but a very special thank you belongs to Mary Jane for being such an amazing coordinator and a true saint. You have such a gift, thank you for sharing that with all of us. Ashley Sent on 09/05/2016The venue was absolutely gorgeous! My wife and I just got married there on Sunday the 28th and we couldn't have asked for a better day. We had about 100 guests in attendance. We also hired Andrea as our coordinator and I'm glad we did! She was on top of everything and kept the day going smoothly. We didn't have to worry about a thing! The gardens were beautiful and the decorations inside were set up exactly how we wanted them. Everything turned out even better than we had expected! I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone! -

Kelly Sent on 05/06/2016I highly recommend the Manor House at Kings Charter. I looked at 25 different venues before I choose the Manor House on my very first visit. From the moment I walked in I felt like family. Mary Jane has such a calming energy and professionalism that I knew right away the Manor House was the perfect venue. I really did a lot of research because I wanted the best value for my money and this venue lived up and exceeded all my expectations.
The pictures do not do the venue justice. The house is absolutely gorgeous, the grounds are meticulously landscaped and Mary Jane and Andrea have the planning and process of a flawless wedding down pat. Andrea made the day of so easy for me. All I really had to do was show up and she took care of everything else.
Also, Sam Edwards does a lot of catering there and came recommended by the Manor House. Sam and his staff are hands down the best catering option there is. I have been in (and to) many weddings and Sam Edwards has the best food and wait staff I have ever seen. He is also reasonably priced!
You will not be disappointed with The Manor House. 5 stars, A++

She offered to be my planner for no extra, they provided me with vases, chargers, votives, etc. I would highly recommend this location for anyone getting married. you will not be disapointed!!! -

On our wedding day, in particular, it was not necessary to have a wedding planner because they attended to every last detail! They kept all of our other vendors on schedule according to our the schedule we provided. I cannot say enough about their commitment to making our special day perfect. -

Ashley Sent on 05/09/2009My husband and I were married at The Manor House in Mechanicsville, VA, in November 2008. We scouted the place out in January of 2008 and as soon as we walked in we knew that was the place, so we booked it! The place is absolutely gorgeous, and Sandi was very accommodating and listened to everything we wanted for our ceremony, as well as for our reception. We had a beautiful evening ceremony in the ballroom and afterward had the reception in the ballroom as well as the library and tavern room. Our caterer set the meal up in the dining room and guests ate buffet style, bringing their food back through to their tables in the other rooms. The site also had other decorations we could use to our advantage. I loved the history of the old house and everything was so beautiful. It was everything we could have ever asked for. We used the mantle in the library as our memory mantle, which included parent and grandparent wedding photographs. We also displayed our candy buffet and slide show on a digital photo frame in the library. The tavern room is where our bartender was set up. The foyer had our guest book quilt for guests to sign, and my bridal portrait on display. We had other tables, our wedding cake, and the DJ in the ballroom, with plenty of dance floor. Sandi knew exactly what we wanted and she did an awesome job making sure it would happen. Everything went just how we wanted it-and our guests did not want to leave when it was time to go. Our family and friends are still telling us how it was one of the best weddings they ever attended. Thank you again! -

Sarah Sent on 05/27/2014We just got married at The Manor House at King's Charter. My best piece of advice: go see the venue IN PERSON and don't just rely on their website. The venue is SO much better in real life. The pictures currently on the website are a little older and just don't do the venue justice. There are some more up to date pictures on their Facebook page as well, and you should also Google to see other photos of The Manor House that are more recent. It is such a beautiful, versatile, and affordable wedding venue. We got married right outside on the front lawn. The venue also offers other outdoor ceremony sites that are all included in the price (gazebo, open grass areas) as well as rooms inside for indoor weddings/back up plans (ballroom and library). You can also take your bridal portraits there with no extra cost. There is also plenty of space in the house for the bride and bridal party to get ready. Mary Jane was our consultant and she was so fantastic. She is also able to be hired out on your wedding day to be your "Day of Coordinator" for a very reasonable fee. I cannot recommend a Day of Coordinator enough (especially one like her!) because then the bride and all families involved are able to just enjoy the day and not have to worry about corralling everyone for the ceremony, taking care of final payments for the vendors, instructing the vendors on where to set up, etc. The grounds and gardens are green and lucious during the spring/summer! Azaleas, dogwoods, cherry blossoms, oh man, it's just GORGEOUS. You can find so many places for pictures. The Manor House also has a lot of great recommendations (via a Vendor List) for caterers, photographers, florists, etc. and some of those vendors even offer discounts to Manor House brides. We had such an amazing day and it wouldn't have been possible without Mary Jane and The Manor House at King's Charter! -

We absolutely LOVED having our wedding reception at the Manor House. One of the more affordable options in the Richmond area. The venue has character as well as timeless beauty. I was able to get ready in the upstairs part of the house with my bridesmaids and plenty of space for everyone. The venue was VERY flexible as we had to change our wedding reception date from Sept 2020 to May 2021 due to covid. It was very easy to communicate with the coordinators at the Manor House. Would recommend paying for a coordinator fee for day of wedding services. Kristen helped to decorate the entire venue the morning of the wedding as well as coordinated the timeline of events for the reception. She was super helpful and communicative during the actual event to make sure we had everything we needed. Book this venue for your wedding - you won't regret it!! -

My husband and I were married on October 19th at the Manor House. This venue is truly one of a kind. It’s interior and exterior are simply gorgeous, and the staff is seasoned and pay close attention to detail. This venue is well-known throughout the RVA area, so many other vendors in and around Richmond have already worked with Jenefer and Mary Jane—which made life a lot easier.
The weather was PERFECT! We held the ceremony outside under the arbor and the reception was held inside with a DJ, and a food truck. Everyone had such a wonderful time. It was truly the best night of my life and I am so grateful to Jenefer and the Manor House for making that possible. -

When I FIRST got in contact with the Manor House they were very responsive. Unfortunately when I requested multiple times to come to the venue and basic questions needing to be answered after my date was secured, no one will get back to me. I have reached out for numerous weeks and now they have lost my trust and fear that my wedding will be a disaster at The Manor House. At this time I am looking for another venue to host my Wedding. Do not recommend. -

I have attempted to reach out to the owners of this establishment for months with no response via email or phone call. I was supposed to get married here on 10/8/2022 and had to cancel. I was told if I sold my date I would get my money back. However, I have had numerous people try to contact them about purchasing my date and none of them have ever been contacted back. I paid $3,400 in full and now no one can answer the phone or respond to an email about refunding my money or selling my contract. This is no way to run a business or treat customers.
