Excellent!
My wedding was kept at The Gables and the set up by the staff was so beautiful. When I entered the reception area, I was speechless. The place was indeed 'Rustic Elegant', even my husband was speechless. The food is excellent, your taste bud come alive with each bite. Their caesar salad with anchovy,
margherita flatbread, tomato crostini,Salmon is mouthwatering good. The owner Ann and manager Cathy is lovely, welcoming and comforting. Our waiter Nick was amazing! My wedding was in september and the staff and owner Ann kept everyone safe and organize during the current pandemic. This place is a hidden gem and I am glad I found it, it made my husband and I day very special. If you have your wedding or just go there to eat, you'll not be disappointed :)

Wouldn’t have Changed a Thing
Thanks to Kelly and Carol at the Gables, our wedding was everything we hoped for and an amazing day. The venue was beautiful, the food amazing and Carol was on top of every detail to make the day run smoothly. I didn’t have to lift a finger and felt like a Queen for the day. I just wish we could do it again! We highly recommend the Gables for any event.-

May 2019 wedding - amazing so far!
We are getting married at the Gables in May 2019, and so far the team at the Gables has been AMAZING! They are super responsive and patient with all of our questions. They are flexible and very willing to work within your budget. We’ve been to the restaurant a couple times for lunch, and the food is DELICIOUS. We’ll add more detail after our big day in May! -

Perfect Venue - Even Better Event Team!
I knew the moment we walked into The Gables that we would be getting married there. What I didn't expect was a top notch Event Planning team that would go above and beyond to make our special day the best day ever. Carol, Kayla, Kelly and Ann took the time to meet with us and answer a slew of our questions and concerns prior to our day. They were incredibly responsive via e-mail and were always a pleasure to meet with to discuss final details. The weekend of our wedding the weather threatened to rain, but the ceremony site and exterior were pristine and the fall decorations already placed were perfect for the atmosphere. Carol went above and beyond with the decorations - she understood what we wanted and brought it to life. The food and drinks and serving staff were amazing! We get told all the time how yummy dinner was. The banquet hall with twinkly lights and decorations was romantic and the perfect setting for our reception. We will be forever grateful for the love, support, protection and kindness the team at The Gables showed us on our wedding day. While weddings can be business related, there is a lot of love and care that is going on behind the scenes and we saw every bit of that on our wedding day. We cannot recommend this venue enough. Wow where does one even begin to describe this amazing place and venue. My husband Richard and i wedded here on 09/21/18 &i could not imagine doing it any where else. The Gables is so magical,elegant and everything in between. From the Owner Ann to her wait staff and her amazing wedding coordinator Kelly they are all with you every step of the way making sure every detail is perfected to the way you envisioned it.
All of our family and friends commented on the food and how delicious it was and the service how wonderful and effecient everything was.
My hat goes off to this amazing place, Ann has something special here at The Gables. We cant wait to be back for our anniversary!
So Ann, Kelly and the entire Gables staff Rich and I would like to say THANK YOU for making our day as special and perfect as possible you all are amszing and we are ever so greatful for you all.

There isn’t enough room to write about how incredible The Gables was to work with. I am a meticulous planner with very particular ideas of how I wanted everything to look. The event team took the time to work with my ideas and bring them to fruition. Kelly and Carol absolutely nailed it. When Carol walked me into the finished reception room on my wedding day, I was brought to tears! Every single part of our day was perfection! In addition to how incredibly beautiful everything was, I have never heard more praise about food at a wedding!! I must have heard 50 times from my guests about how incredible their meals were! Every single detail of our day was handled with such care, it is evident that Kelly, Carol, and their teams have a true passion for what they do. If you want your day to be unique, lively, and taste amazing, this is your venue!! -

If you're looking for a rustic style wedding, stop here. Go visit this venue, have dinner, and book it. The staff was so accommodating, we felt like we were the only wedding on their minds. They stayed late on numerous occasions to meet our scheduling needs. Whenever we asked "Can we do...?" the answer was yes or we're going to try our hardest to make it happen (and they always made it happen). They easily went above and beyond all of our expectations. On our wedding day every single staff member was working hard, but always with a smile. We could have never asked to work with a better group of people.
The decorations they have on site were reasonably priced and on the day of our wedding we noticed they included even more than we had asked. We asked if we would be charged extra and they said "Of course not, we just thought we could do more for you". Not to mention they include a lot of decorations and flowers as part of their normal décor (saves on flower costs). If you're looking for something they have it or they'll order it for you. They even assembled items for us the day before our wedding.
As far as food goes, you will never find another venue that gives you more for your money. It's probably in the middle of most vendors as far as cost, but we had several guests that weren't able to finish their main course. If you didn't finish, you got to take it home which is rare for any venue. It's truly unbelievable the amount of food they give you at such a high quality. It's because of this we now frequently visit the restaurant and we've never had a bad meal. Not once. We also had several people with allergy restrictions, which they said was not a problem and they actually charged us less for those meals. Their chef worked with us on every single guest to make sure their needs were met. If you visit the venue, have dinner there to try it. The steak and salmon are must haves.
Just book this place. -

The Gables made our wedding day better then what we ever imagined it could be. From the ceremony to the reception everything was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better team to help us through one of the most stressful times in life. We wish we could do it all over again and have it go much longer. Our guests cant stop talking about the wedding and what a great time they had.

The very first time we visited The Gables, we fell in love! We knew it was the perfect place for us. We had our ceremony and wedding reception there on 10/13/17. Our experience with The Gables was absolutely wonderful. First of all, the venue is gorgeous. They offer customizable food and bar packages; no need to find an outside caterer or liquor contract. There is a bridal suite on site that is available for you and your girls to get ready, and it is beautiful and cozy. You have access to the suite all day and you are served complimentary champagne, fruit and cheese as you get ready. The Gables has a welcoming, friendly staff. Of special note is our experience with Samantha. Sam went above and beyond to ensure that our day was nothing but perfect. She spent extra time with us at each in-person meeting to answer any questions we had, and she was very responsive to all our calls and emails. She even added special little touches to our rehearsal dinner table to make it that much more memorable, and adjusted our final price when we had a few last minute cancellations. Allison (the decor coordinator) created a fabulous backdrop according to our tastes, and very importantly, stayed within our budget. She has hundreds of items for rent, or you can use your own decor, or go with a combination of both (which is what we did!). On the day of, everything went off without a hitch and we had a beautiful wedding day. I would pick The Gables time and time again for our special day!-

We had our wedding at the Gables on 3/10/2018 and are so happy with our choice! From day one they were so helpful and super responsive to any questions I had etc. They made the planning process a breeze. We got so many compliments on the food (many of our guests said it was the best food they ever had at a wedding), the drinks, and even the friendliness of the staff. The day of was a piece of cake. I was able to drop off all of my stuff the night before and the staff took care of everything. They did an amazing job and it was beautifully done. I can't recommend the Gables enough. -

A diamond in the rough. Chadds Ford is full of wineries and things to do. You could drive by this awesome venue and not even know it! Beautiful architecture with a beautiful backdrop. We used The Gables for our rehearsal, ceremony, and reception. Everyone we worked with there was very nice and always willing to stop what they were doing to help or answer a question. The food... AMAZING! The baker they suggest for your cake is awesome! They have a nice bridal suite and awesome rustic bar in their restaurant. There's a fire pit they light at night too. The venue is pretty by itself so you won't need to decorate much if you're on a budget. Overall very happy with the venue! -

Having our wedding at The Gables was the best choice we ever made! They allowed me to DIY without having to set up my decorations on the day of. I had a few decorations that I loved but had not clue where to put them, and they found the perfect spots!They also allowed us to drop all of our materials two days before our wedding and stored it for us with no complaint. The price was so reasonable and the food was amazing! I loved having so much control in our wedding but also being able to trust the staff at The Gables to execute our plan perfectly! -

From the start of our venue selection process through the last drink served during our reception, The Gables went above and beyond to make this the perfect day for us. Kelly and Samantha are FANTASTIC to work with. They are responsive, flexible and accommodating. They paid attention to all the details that were important to us and set up the space exactly how we had it pictured in our heads. Every guest of our wedding has said the location was beautiful, food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We couldn't be happier with our selection of The Gables for our wedding reception. -

My husband and I got married on 7/21/17 at The Gables. Our day was beyond perfect! Sam, Kelly, Chef Dave, and the rest of The Gables staff worked hard from day one! They were very accommodating to all our wishes, from setting up long tables, to having a sparkler send off, and everything in between.
Our ceremony and cocktail hour were in the courtyard, which has breathtaking landscaping and a beautiful terrace Inside, our reception had a very rustic look and was decorated beautifully. There is also an adorable cottage where the bridal party got ready, which made it very convenient to do everything all in one place.
The food was delicious, from the appetizers to the main course. Guests were also a given a fairly big portion! Many guests raved about how good the food was.
In addition, Kelly and Sam made sure everything ran smoothly and happened in a timely manner. They were very helpful with creating a timeline.
We are still getting compliments saying what a wonderful wedding it was. Beautiful place, fantastic food, amazing staff! Would highly recommend. -

Our 7/14/17 wedding at the Gables was perfect! Samantha and Kelly made everything so easy, and Allison made sure everything was decorated beautifully. Every request we made was accommodated. Even though it was down-pouring on the day of our wedding and we had to use a tent for the ceremony, the event went off without a hitch and was our dream wedding! Great food, great location, great service, great people. -

Everything about the Gables is perfect. Communication - top notch! Food - omg, amazing! Space - beautiful!! Price - a hidden gem, for sure! We loved the Gables. I cannot stress it enough! Ann is the cutest woman to help run anything! Tommy was the best day of coordinator. He is hilarious and just fits right in to your party - he might as well have been a groomsman! Kelly is awesome at getting your documents together and explaining any question you may have.
Not to mention customizing everything in the place just to your liking! The Gables had a team that set everything up for us, we just dropped our junk off! We communicated with Tommy the night before told him our ideas - when we walked in, it was like walking into a room that I imagined in my head! They are just amazing. The food was sooo tasty! I still get compliments on the choices we made a YEAR ago!!! We were at maximum size capacity, so it did get a litttttle warm in there, and the food did take a little longer than expected - but oh well it was worth it!
We wouldn't change a thing about the Gables and don't have a single complaint! They let us keep our junk in there overnight, thankfully they didn't have anyone in there the next day (such a convenience for us)! Picked it all up the next morning, got to thank everyone and it was awesome.
We also had our rehearsal dinner there, and holy smokes - it was to die for. Super well cooked, delivered, presented, tasting - again, we wouldn't change a thing.
I recommend the Gables for any event you may have! I'm sure you will not be disappointed! -

Amazing from beginning to end. Ann, Kelly, Samantha, Alex and Chef Dave delivered a beautiful reception with outstanding food. Our guests couldn't believe how delicious the food was, how great and friendly the service was and how beautiful the The Gables is. It was very cold and rained the day of our wedding and we were supposed to be married outside. I was disappointed that we had to have a tent but since the weather is out of my control, I refused to let it get me down. In my wildest dreams, I never could have imagined how beautiful Ann and her team would make the inside of the tent. Ann has a way of making everything she touches, beautiful. When I was walking down the aisle I saw what she had done and I couldn't believe how beautiful it all looked, with the waterfall as the backdrop. Our photographer captured unbelievable photos of it all. It truly felt magical and everyone was talking about how beautiful it was. You would have never known that it had been raining, very cold and windy that day. Thankfully the rain stopped right before we walked down the aisle. The reception was just as beautiful and everyone loved the food! We loved it so much that we've already been back to have dinner a few times since our wedding. It felt magical and I'm so glad my husband and I decided to have our ceremony and reception there. We will be eating there frequently from now on! -

The Gables was my dream wedding venue from the first time I stepped foot in the building for dinner. With the rustic barn feel and coziness, I felt it was the perfect fit. Needless to say, the whole team was just that- a dream!
Everything from our first tour, food tasting, weeks leading up and the day of was a great experience. Kelly and her team were there for every question and every need we had. They guided us in each decision and were attentive to our needs. They really made my vision a reality. For example, we wanted to have a untraditional dessert with apple cider donuts, cupcakes and apple crisp. They did an amazing job at making apple crisp in small mason jars!
I am so happy to have said we got married at The Gables at Chadds Ford and this place will always hold a special place in our hearts ! -

We went to The Gables for the day after wedding dinner for a few out of town guests before we left on our wedding trip. It was fun reminiscing over our wedding and the meal and atmosphere was wonderful. We highly recommend The Gables for a wonderful meal and ambiance in Chester County. -

The Gables was very flexible and offered my daughter and son-in-law a lot of options. My Bride, Sara purchased and made a lot of her decorations and The Gables really worked with Sara and Jake to make their wedding everything they wanted. Ann was very approachable and reachable. The venue was beautiful. The food was wonderful! The service was very professional and very friendly. Everyone went above and beyond to be very helpful. It was an exceed expectations experience! -

The Gables in Chadds Ford is an absolutely beautiful indoor/outdoor wedding venue in the rolling hills of Southern Chester County. Very little extra decorations are necessary because the outdoor ceremony garden is filled with beautiful flowers and plants, all highlighting a stone wall, with a waterfall. The Indoor reception area is a lovely converted barn with beautiful rustic wood floors, wooden beams in the ceiling, and a stunning wall of windows. The event staff was very helpful and accommodating. We were given an endless supply of fruit, cheese, freshly baked rolls, coffee, tea, soda, water, and sandwiches, at no extra charge, while spending the day getting ready in the lovely on site bridal suite. All of our guests commented about how absolutely gorgeous the venue was!! The food was also beautifully presented, and delicious! My daughter's wedding was a day that we will be talking about for many years to come! We highly recommend The Gables for a beautiful and unforgettable wedding.

Where to begin. Ann the owner was FANTASTIC....We already had our hearts set on the Gables, a quaint farm style venue with a rustic charm, but when we first met Ann I was blown away by the professionalism and willingness to work with her clients. My wife always wanted a rustic wedding and Ann and her crew provided the BEST wedding for us. It has been two months since my wife and I said "I Do" and I still get phone calls from relatives who wanted to tell me that our wedding was something out of a catalog. Between the beautifully designed atmosphere to the knock your socks off food and drinks If you don't pick this place to get married then something is wrong with you!! Ann coordinated the perfect night from beginning to end and her staff's courtesy and professionalism were second to none. They went out of their way to make the night special in every single way for us and It made me wish we could get married once a year just for the celebration!! Ann I hope you know what a spectacular job you all did and I will most certainly tell everyone that the Gables at Chadds Ford is where they need to be for their special event!!! THANK YOU -

Tommy, Kelly, and the owners were fabulous! They helped settle my nerves prior to the wedding and were very easy to communicate with. They were flexible with my decorating details (including willing to turn on 110 lantern lights) and the ideas came out better than I planned because of their skill. It was the first time my photographer attended the gables and she told us it was one of her favorites of all time. Tommy shared wonderful picture ideas and worked with our vendors to make sure everything went off without a hitch. Our guests loved our reception. Many spent time on the dance floor or outside by the fire pit. I also recommend having a smores bar for kids and adults. The food of course is memorable and our guests loved the dinner choices available to them. Have the wedding of your dreams at the gables. -

Our wedding at the Gables was everything we hoped for and more. Rick was great to work with when setting up time to tour the venue and answer any questions we had. As it came closer, Tommy and Kelly were wonderful to work with on last minute details and helped the day run on schedule. Our guests continue to compliment this venue saying it was the best wedding meal they ever had. Cakes by Kim was great to accommodate my gluten allergy and made us incredible cupcake combinations. The grounds are just beautiful and the venue was the perfect rustic feel we were going for with our wine themed wedding. I can not say enough about this venue. We had both our ceremony and our reception on the grounds. The grounds are just beautiful. They coordinated the flowers surrounding the waterfall with our florist and it turned out to be an incredible backdrop for our ceremony. The outdoor cocktail hour was incredible, between the appetizers and drinks to the beautiful fountain and adirondack chairs, it was just stunning. We got so many compliments throughout the night. The food was delicious and the reception area turned out perfect. We wanted a rustic feel and The Gables provides that perfectly. Richard, Kelly and Tommy were so helpful throughout the entire perfect and were available the day of to help make sure things went smoothly. To top it off, you really can not beat the value. I highly recommend this venue to any couple looking for an indoor/outdoor event with a rustic feel. -

The Gables at Chadds Ford exceeded all our expectations for our August 1, 2015 wedding. From the moment we inquired about the venue through the reception itself, we couldn’t have been more pleased. Rick, the General Manager, worked with us from day one to create the wedding of our dreams and stayed within our allotted budget. His assistants, Kelly and Thomas, were extremely accommodating and the day-of wait staff were attentive to our needs, as well. The appetizers and dinner entrée (filet and crab cake duet plate) were “out of this world!” Many of our guests remarked it was the best wedding food they had ever tasted. Cakes by Kim also did an awesome job with the mini desserts and cake. We greatly appreciated use of the bridal suite prior to our on-site ceremony and the venue itself was just breathtaking…very simplistic but elegant. Although we can only give five stars for a job well done, we would gladly give a 10 if we could. We are so glad we chose The Gables for our special day. -

The Gables at Chadds Ford is gorgeous and was the perfect venue for our wedding. The banquet room has a rustic but elegant feel to it. The outdoor area was such a beautiful backdrop to get married in front of. There was ample space for our cocktail hour outside as well (we had 110 guests). Everything was so pretty and the food was delicious!!! The food at our tasting was amazing and were worried that the food the night of the wedding wouldn't compare - but it did and was delicious when they made it for all of our guests!! We had the plated duet of filet mignon and salmon and I received many compliments on how good the food was for a wedding. Kelly (the event coordinator) was awesome and always answered all of my many questions in a timely manner. And Tommy was there the day of and was a huge help in setting up and finding last minute solutions (like when we didn't have a microphone for our ceremony...). Thanks for helping us have the wedding of our dreams! -

I cannot say enough amazing things about the Gables at Chadds Ford for my May wedding. The venue is beautiful to say the least - but their renovations this winter have made the place even better! The best part, unlike most venues in the local North Wilmington/Southeastern PA area, it is actually affordable too!!
They gave me the wedding I have always dreamed about and more! From the first meeting back in Nov of 2013 (we had a long engagement!) they felt like family! They were so nice and supportive of our vision for our day and being on a budget they made it work with what we had to spend. They new banquet manager Kelly, GM Richard, and owner Ann are all amazing people who really want your wedding to be the day you have been dreaming about and are very flexible! (No silly rules like many other venues had!). They had quick communication via emails/calls and were so accommodating to my strange requests. I was a professional event planner myself, so I know I got a bit crazy when it came to planning my own wedding but they were so accommodating to every request I came up with! (As an event planner, I was so worried about "letting go" the day off and not being in control, But, I never had any doubts with them and knew my wedding was in good hands!)
The day was absolutely amazing and due to their staff, I had ZERO stress! Everything was set perfectly as we discussed and the day went so incredibly flawless. The manager on duty constantly checked in with me and the Groom to see if we needed anything or is she could be of any assistance, and we really appreciated the plate of passed appetizers and beverages in the bridal suite (I almost forgot to eat!). During the entire evening the bar/wait staff were on point and made the entire night amazing, I can only give them the best rating of a 5, but if I could, I would have given them a 1000! -

But did you know that it is also SUPER inexpensive, it's actually affordable. But wait there's more!! The food is AMAZING. Not only is it amazing but more than enough so you or your guests are not hungry. If that does not do it for you, maybe this will...The team at The Gables is the best group of people to work with, EVER! They respond quickly and treat you like royalty. The Gables at Chadds Ford was not only extremely beautiful - it was AFFORDABLE.
The banquet room is gorgeous for receptions. The Gables provided the tables, chairs, linens, table chalkboard (#s), candles and set everything up. The food was delicious...I very much recommend the Steak or Atlantic Salmon. The vendor plates were a nice touch. The bridal get-ready suite was immaculate and we enjoyed the fruit and ginger ale. Ann was there to provide guidance and take care of last minute problems and wayward family/guests. She was a true professional.
We had around 100 guests; 65 steak/ 30 chicken / 5 veggie and some child and vendor plates and went with the medium consumption package. Total price ended up being $11K for the night - ceremony/reception/wonderful service, etc. Eric, the head waiter was fabulous.
One thing we were concerned about was the Arbor Vitaes. Chester County had a harsh winter in 2013-2014 and their trees suffered. Ann and her team had the idea to place mason jars with lush greenery in front of the arbor vitaes to conceal the brown/baldness and it worked like a charm! The pictures were saved and the beauty of the venue shone through.
They were very flexible and helpful throughout the process. Ann even decorated our "welcome" chalkboard and acted as the wedding director. I highly recommend The Gables and look forward to our anniversary dinner. -

I attended my sister-in-law's Bridal Shower at The Gables of Chadds Ford a couple months ago. The Gables is very rustic yet romantic at the same time. Beautiful, floor to ceiling windows upstairs allowed for the sunlight to stream in and the guests to admire the nicely landscaped yard and elegant terrace. One of a kind. I would recommend this spot to anyone in a heartbeat! -

Beautiful reception from start to finish. The Gables at Chadds Ford was the one and only location where my husband and I wanted to have our wedding reception. Very impressed with the professionalism, value and flexibility. We had a small wedding of 25 people (however The Gables can certainly hold many more). I would recommend The Gables of Chadds Ford to anyone, any day, regardless of the event! Weddings, Anniversary's, Bridal Showers, Baby Showers, Birthdays, Family Re-union's or even just a romantic night out with a special someone! Truly a gem of a place! -

March 8, 2014 was our wedding day-and it was an unforgettable and wonderful day. This day would not have been so memorable without Marianne, Ann, Eric, Chefs, maintenance crew, bartenders and other staff. First, I wanted to say thank you to all who were involved in making this day very special for us. Now our review, The Gables is a perfect location to have a wedding for up to 130 guests. The decor and ambiance is perfect for a country or antique theme wedding. Gables is extremely flexible, and you can make the space your own for any theme. Marianne, the event coordinator, is great. She is not pushy/aggressive,she is very sweet and willing to meet the expectations for any couple. We loved her-she was very flexible with meetings, responsive to communication, and thought of the little things to make our day special.
The ceremony space was perfect. We actually used the tented outside patio - gorgeous stone, candles lit, we used their lanterns, and nice ceremony chairs. They also have an outside terrace. It was perfect for our first look pictures :) The banquet room, where reception/cocktail hour was held, looked amazing!! You really do not need to do a lot to it. Gables has several things that they will provide, cake stand (beautiful), table numbers, mason jars for candles, and other little things. The coolest thing was the HUGE Tiffany chandelier. It's beautiful and makes the room! For set up, they will set up tables in any way you want.
The food was excellent - hats off to the chef. It's affordable, good portion sizes, and the presentation is exquisite. We did have a guest who didn't like mushrooms, Gables made a plate for her without hesitation. Lastly, Eric, the head banquet server, was outstanding!! He made not only my husband and I feel catered to, but our guests as well. A tip to Gables, do not lose Eric!! He was a huge part to our day!
Gables was absolutely the best place for our wedding! Thank you ALL!!

Back in January my Husband and I started looking for reception venues. The Gables of Chadds Ford was the first and only place we looked at, as I knew the minute we walked in that we had found our venue for our October wedding. There was no question about it, as The Gables had the exact atmosphere we were looking for, from the exposed wood beam ceiling to the Tiffany Chandelier. Not only was The Gables beautiful inside, they had the most amazing outdoor ceremony area. The Gables was also affordable, accommodating, and convenient.
Our fairytale wedding took place October 11, 2013. Besides the pouring down rain the day went off without a hitch. I was determined to utilize the outdoor ceremony area, so we rented a tent from “The Party Center” (please see the separate review on them). The outdoor area was decorated with beautiful hardy mums and pumpkins galore for the Fall October day.
When it came time for the ceremony to begin at 6pm, there were torrential down pours and the outdoor tent was not large enough to cover all of the guests. As the bride, I was still in the process of the formal pictures being taken when Ann (the owner of The Gables) approached me and offered for the ceremony to take place in their enclosed patio area. Within minutes the staff had the room rearranged for a wedding ceremony to take place. The enclosed patio was breathtaking and perfect for our small number of guests (72).
Overall our wedding day was perfect because of The Gables and their staff. Ann and Marianne were an absolute blessing to work with and were extremely accommodating. The food was phenomenal and the drink service was outstanding. I would recommend this venue to anyone, as The Gables offers many different food and drink options for the couple that is sticking to a strict budget or the couple who is wanting and willing to go over the top.

Ann (owner) and Marianne were so hands on during weeks leading up to our wedding. They listen to our requests, no worries was their motto. It was a beautiful day and every concern was dealt with immediately. The stone work at The Gables is so breathtaking and the garden area was perfect for pictures. We had started working with Rick at the Gables and then Kelly took over, but it was a seamless transition. She was so patient with multiple emails loaded with questions, wanting to make sure everything was prefect for our big day. Cocktail hour had to be moved inside due to weather, but everything still went very smoothly. The staff was so friendly and did a great job setting up all of the decorations that I had taken them. It was the perfectly elegant venue for us, super intimate and allowed us to dress it us for the formal garden party feel that we wanted. We can't wait to go back for our first anniversary, if we even wait that long! -

We were so pleased with the service that we got at the Gables! The staff was accommodating and very responsive to emails and phone calls. The day went off without a hitch- they did a great job of making the event run smoothly. Both the ceremony and reception site were beautiful. I had been concerned that we would hear road noise, but it ended up not being an issue at all. I feel like you get a lot in terms of the quality of food, type of food, drinks, venue, etc. for the money. No regrets! I would book this venue again in a heart beat. -

We LOVE the Gables! It was the absolute perfect place to have our wedding! Kelly and Ann were awesome to work with, paying attention to details, responding to our questions, and taking care of EVERYTHING on the day of. The entire staff was super friendly and helpful, and all of guests had nothing but the best to say about the Gables. It is such a great space - it really needs hardly any additional decor and embellishment. Our ceremony was held outside and the landscaping is beautiful, including the plantings in the arch above where we stood. The reception room is beautiful and held our 97 guests perfectly. The food and drinks were AMAZING! the bartenders and servers were awesome, they brought us a special plate of hors dourves to our sweetheart table, plus i was able to enjoy my dinner before enjoying the rest of the party (which I was really looking forward to, since I knew how delicious the food was after eating at the restaurant downstairs). I did all of the flowers and decor myself and I was able to drop it off with Kelly the day before, with pictures and instructions and the Gables staff set it all up perfectly on the day of our wedding so I had absolutely nothing to worry about. It was a completely awesome, stress-free day and it would not have been the same without the amazing staff and beautiful setting of the Gables! -

Our wedding at The Gables was spectacular. The staff (Kelly, Richard, and Tommy) were so helpful during the planning process and on the day. They were always very responsive to calls and emails, and answered all of our questions thoroughly. The food is SO GOOD, and the venue is beautiful. We provided some decorations which they helped us put up, and because of the weather we needed to have a tent outside for the ceremony, which they decorated with flowers and paper lanterns for us. The room is on the small side, so it's definitely better for a more intimate reception (we had 110 guests). They were very flexible in terms of the menu...I asked for a cheesesteak station and a s'mores station for dessert and they did a wonderful job putting those together, and gave a very reasonable price for them. They made it very clear from the beginning that they would be willing to consider any requests that we had that weren't explicitly included in the menu and the wedding package. Overall we were very very happy with our choice!! -

We had both our ceremony and reception at the Gables recently and they exceeded our expectations. The venue is beautiful and doesn't require much decoration at all. The food was great - plus, we were able to offer our guests a short menu of options to choose from. Kelly and Tommy and the rest of the staff handled all of the set-up, even arranging beautiful centerpieces, and also did a great job coordinating everything during the wedding day. The bridal suite is also a great addition. Our wedding was in February, and the Gables responded to the unseasonably warm weather by preparing the outdoor space for us to use for photos and setting up tables and chairs on the terrace for guests. All of our guests had a wonderful time and we will always have great memories of our wedding! -

I'm the mother of the bride and the wedding at the Gables couldn't have been more perfect. It's just such a beautiful setting for a ceremony and reception. The weather was awesome but if it hadn't been, the backup plan was to hold the ceremony in the tented back porch, which is beautiful in itelf. My daughter did most of the arrangements but I did have some interactions with the staff/owners. Anne was so helpful in the weeks before the wedding. I dropped off some items the night before and Anne had a staff member bring in all the stuff from my car - which was great because some of it was really heavy. But the best part was when we were setting up during the day of the ceremony/reception. There was a problem with the table layout that my daughter provided me and the one that the Gables had. Eric was the banquet manager that helped me; he was so patient and assured me we would be able to settle everything....and we did. It was his easy going manner that kept me from panicing and going off the deep end....and that's really important the day of the wedding when your nerves can get the best of you if you let them. All in all....best wedding ever! -

We had our wedding their last year, on a beautiful day in August, and I really couldn't recommend the Gables more. All the horror stories we had worried about prior to the wedding, of venue price gouging, not following through on their obligations, never happened.
Adele was very flexible, given our constant changes regarding menu selection, and guests right up to the day of.
Me and my wife were hoping to pay for the wedding without going into debt, and Adele worked with us all the way, finding ways to save us money, letting us know when we didn't need that many appetizers. At the end of the day when it was time to pay the bill, it was significantly less that we had budgeted for. And I seriously doubt you'll find a better value anywhere, for such a phenomenal place, with good food, and service.
Our guest loved the wedding, so have we, and Adele and her team at the Gables, along with remarkably nice weather, were a good part of the reasons why.

The Gables is such a beautiful venue for a small-medium sized venue. Although communication was a little spotty during the initial planning process, everything turned out well. We enjoyed the flexibility they offered us in terms of start-time and minor substitutions in menu items. We loved the overall rustic look of the place, and really enjoyed the food. We would choose The Gables at Chadds Ford for our wedding reception all over again, if we had to. Highly recommended! -

Loud. Louder. What?
I went to a wedding at The Gables last night. Thankfully, it did not rain. The grounds are beautiful, and the outdoor gathering space is very nice. There were about 115 guests. The Gables offers accommodation for up to 140 guests. With 115, it seemed very crowded to me. There was quite a jam waiting for the bar: it was difficult to tell who was waiting in line, and which people were just clustered near the bar chatting.
I can not imagine there having been any more people in the indoor “barn” section when the party moved inside for dinner and dancing. And it is not just physical space, the very real problem is noise. It was deafening. It felt as if the conversations of 115 people swirled up to the high ceiling, blended together, and descended over the crowd with a nerve jangling tinny roar. Maybe I’m just more sensitive to noise than most- but I could not hear or be heard, without shouting- to the guests seated next to me at my table. My voice got sore quickly. Eventually, I stopped talking, and pretended to listen. I began to get a headache, and it wasn’t from the wine. Outdoors, where I fled to decompress, the noise was not an issue, but the party was inside.
I think the Gables needs to address the very serious noise issue, or reduce the amount of guests it accepts. -

As a recent bride, I completely understand wanting your wedding day to be perfect with the perfect venue. The Gables at Chadds Ford essentially gave my husband and I that - a beautiful (almost perfect) wedding. Minus a couple hiccups with staff miscommunication and a "negative Nancy" so to speak in the mix, everything was wonderful. I must however say Eric, their banquet coordinator, deserves most of the credit! Outside of kudos going to the chef and food prep team for most delicious food (I am still getting rave reviews from family/friends), Eric is what made our wedding day a magical, fabulous event. His staff and he were always on top of things, courteous, polite, friendly, helpful, and always smiling. Sadly however their event/wedding coordinator wasn't even there and she never informed me that she would be absent. This threw me for a loop when I first arrived since she was the person I had been dealing with the whole time. However, Eric was there with drink in hand and ready to assure me that everything was taken care of. That man deserves a promotion or raise! Loved the food, loved the service, and loved the venue! Definitely a place to consider for a more intimate wedding and would recommend the Gables to others. -

We had a beautiful wedding at The Gables that all of our friends and family enjoyed. The bridal suite, garden, and indoor reception area were all wonderfully prepared and I have never met a sweeter, friendlier or more helpful staff. They did a fantastic job with the set up, leaving very little for us to do once we arrived. All of our guests raved about the food and the head waiter, Eric, even brought us (the bride and groom) over a plate from the buffet so that we could actually sit and enjoy our wedding meal!
My only complaint was that prior to the wedding, communication could sometimes be a bit slow. There was a staff change part-way through the planning process that left several emails and a phone call unanswered. However, once I got in touch with Ann, the co-owner, she provided prompt, friendly replies to my questions and made sure that everything was taken care of. Aside from that blip, not a single thing went wrong from the day we put down our deposit! Prices were fair and they even honored the original contract we had signed prior to their re-vamp of the menu and costs for events.
All in all, they made my wedding day a breeze and I would happily have a large event there again! -

The food was good. The restaurant is beautiful although it was under construction on the day of our wedding reception. The manager, Rick, had told us that it would be complete by our wedding and it was not. That was disappointing but the day itself was great. -

I recently had my wedding reception at The Gables. At the end of the day it was great. The positives were the food and the staff at the event were great! The negatives were I was in the middle management changes and staffing switched half way. Communication was thus strained a little. The owner was very flexible with my wishes and did the best to accommodate me, but there were a few times when we had to jump through some hoops. -

We had a Sept 2017 wedding at the Gables.We had a special day although there were a handful of hiccups that hopefully have been fixed since. Kelly was very flexible on trying to help us have the wedding of our dreams. Due to unexpected military relocation, we tried to plan a wedding in about 6 months immediately after getting engaged. The dates were few, but they offered to host a 2nd wedding (us) after a much earlier one on a Saturday. They gave us leniency on payments since it was last minute too! Chef Dave was the absolute best, making all the food to die for. he even made custom dishes for the service too!! The atmosphere of the Gables cannot be easily replicated, and it’s inherint charm shines through. However, to be fair, there were some issues we had. We knew going into the event, there was a small turnover between weddings. We would not get the same half-day preparation as all others have, and we accepted that with grace. I think the Gables was a bit over their heads with the two weddings unknowingly. The table arrangements were wrong and were given much in advance to avoid issues. If there was an issue with table size placement, it should have been noticed and at least expressed to us prior to the reception. We had to haphazardly move a few around to improve upon the situation. Later into the reception, there was no “go-to” person... no event coordinators without word or communication given to the rest of the team.It started to drizzle and guests had to bring in all the gifts/decor inside while the employees just watched. The favors were not put out, and employees didn’t know where they were. Those things we got over. It was when we returned the next morning to retrieve our items that we were horrified. All items, including uneaten food were just tossed together without care. Food stuck to our photos, sand ceremony astray. Fresh Flower arrangements squished under boxes. We only asked for apologies and explanations for such treatment. It didn’t come so easy. -

Good day of - terrible planning process
I first off want to say that I would have changed nothing about my wedding day. The day itself generally was very smooth and all the guests raved about the food and the venue looked beautiful. The drinks were well made and there was never a shortage.
Now the reasons for why this venue gets 3 stars:
-The turn over is very high for staff: my husband and I had booked the venue back in March of 2021. Since signing the contract to our wedding day (May 2022) we had 3 event coordinator changes with the final change being about 2 weeks prior to our wedding. Every time the staff changed we were never alerted and only found out due to calling the venue (as they never responded via emails).
-It was always a fight to get our contract which was already signed to be honored - with each staff change we were constantly having to make sure all details were accounted for and even we (as a couple) noticed missing details the day of our wedding (pasta course was skipped, none of the staff really ran any behind the scenes timeline etc.). Furthermore, we had to re-negotiate previously agreed upon pricing details of our contract (e.g. cost of signature drink and champagne for toasts) with each staff changeover. This includes the final staff change, only 1 week prior to our event.

Unprofessional and terrible communication

To put in words, I got married on 8/1/25. This venue was very unprofessional and there was a total lack of communication. At first, the planning was great, but it quickly took a turn for the worst. When showing up for our tasting in late February, there was a giant hole in the ground, construction vehicles, and cones. When we asked about this construction, because we had NO idea they were planning construction, they said it would be done in April. We thought that’s great, it’ll be beautiful and we wont even have to worry about a tent. Moving forward to the summer, we saw nothing online about this construction being done. When we stopped by the venue, it looked way worse and barely anything was fixed. To put in short, they beat around the bush and told us “we have to trust them that it’ll look good for wedding day.” No idea how you can make a giant hole in the ground, construction supplies, and steel beams look “presentable.” This was not the space we signed up for. We demanded to come back 1 week before the wedding and it was worse, with now 2-stories high steal beams obstructing the view of the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception space. Absolutely nothing was done about this for us. They downplayed the whole thing, tried to make us feel stupid that it “wasn’t a big deal,” and did not validate our worries and concerns.
Our coordinator quit 2 weeks before our wedding. The only way I found out was because I had called her with a question. If I didn’t call her, I don’t know how or if we would’ve found out. The coowner (because the actual owner never returned calls or emails) said she would be our day-of coordinator but then left the country for a few weeks. The day-of coordinator we wound up getting was very nice but then refused to look at me on the day of the wedding before I walked down the aisle….even though her job was to help us the morning of and to tell me when to walk down the aisle. Thankfully, I am Type A and had a whole organized binder with everything needed for the day of because the coordinator and workers were not helpful.
At the end of the night at 10pm, they told we had to pack up all of our things and get everything out. Beforehand, they told us we had 24 hours to grab our things. We planned to go back the next morning and get. Instead, we were forced to get everything out then and there. So with everyone drunk and only 1 person that drove his truck, we loaded up everything we could. In the process, things broke and were lost, including out almost $300 light. When we confronted them of these lost items, they kept saying “one of your friends probably has them.” When we asked them to buy us replacement umbrellas that we bought and brought, they never answered. So we lost the return window, since I planned to return them. But the venue had the same umbrellas as what I brought, so I’m sure they kept them for themselves.
Before we found out about the construction, we were planning to get a tent for the outside ceremony space in case it rained. When we asked several times what size we needed, the coordinator did not know. She said “probably a 30x30.” Probably? As if this isn’t a venue and this isn’t something I’m sure they have dealt with many times before. I had to text and email several times before I got an answer.
At our reception, there was 1 bartender. Therefore, there was constantly a line at the bar and they ran out of soda within 30 minutes. The plus side, was they made the drinks strong.
Overall, the day of our wedding was beautiful, but the hassle, lack of communication, and unprofessionalism was not worth this place.

My husband I were married at The Gables on the most beautiful day in June, June 17, 2016. The sun was shining, the atmosphere was beautiful, the food was great, but there are a few things about the Gables that I caution any bride & groom about when looking into this place. We originally met with Richard in July o 2015 when we were interested in booking at the Gables and he sold us on the place, he promised us the world and the wedding that we wanted. We reviewed the contract with him, he called a few weeks later to set up the date and said that we would be in touch. The was the last we heard from Richard as he no longer works there and is working with his wife who supplies the cakes for the Gables(which were absolutely amazing). The communication at the Gables is absolutely horrendous and inexcusable. We were left waiting for weeks at a time on responses for details about our wedding, some of them simple, some of them not so much. We also had our rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding at the Gables, which was also fabulous, but because it had rained earlier that day, there was a big tent up over the ceremony area. When I spoke to Kelly earlier in the week I said I would only want a tent if it was going to rain that day...which means please no tent if it is sunny. The night of the rehearsal dinner Kelly promised everyone that it would be down for the next day and it was overheard by several member of the bridal party. The day of the wedding we arrived to the site and the tent was still up. I asked Kelly about taking it down and she said no, that it was staying up because that is what I wanted and there was no way of it coming down. She went as far as telling my photographer that the pictures would look better with the tent, as well as several other excuses like the wedding the next day needing the tent. I'm sorry this is my wedding, not somebody else. If I want the tent down, it's coming down. My MOH was finally able to get the tent down after giving Kelly her -

Dont waste your $. Food is sub-par, has declined significantly since the original owners. It's apparent that the staff are treated poorly (slave-driver owners). Limited space in Courtyard. Overpriced waste. Couples to be can find much more beautiful venues elsewhere. Also overheard the chef using profanity with the staff - unprofessional. Wont be returning -
