The Filter Building at White Rock Lake was the perfect place for our daughter’s wedding!

We loved the feeling this turn of the century building gave, with floor to ceiling windows and a beautiful backdrop of White Rock Lake. It was the perfect venue for our daughter’s wedding. The groom took his “getting ready” photos in the newly remodeled upstairs space. The VIP lounge was the perfect spot for our DJ’s photo booth, and the main room was the perfect size for our guest count…not too crowded, but not too big. The added bonus of the patio with a view of the Lake made for the best pictures. And the FGF team was amazing!

Our Wedding on White Rock Lake

The Filter Building was truly the best venue for our wedding! The beautiful backdrop of the lake was perfect for sunset photos and the entire space was comfortable enough for all our guests. The service provided by all the team members at The Filter Building was exceptional. They were attentive to guests all night long, helpful during the dinner hour, and even made sure my husband and I were never without a fresh drink from the bar! All of the staff were also incredibly kind and willing to help in any way. I had the privilege to work with Sarah Baker during our wedding planning process and she was the biggest help. She made sure everything would run smooth on the day of and answered every question I had during the process. The Filter Building offers the perfect space for weddings, and the hospitality is top tier! We love the Filter Building!

    Cool and Unique Venue

My husband and I spent a lot of time at White Rock Lake while we were dating and when we stumbled onto The Filter Building, it seemed like a natural place for our ceremony and reception. We thought about the arboretum, but The Filter Building was tucked back and a little more private. We got married on the lawn overlooking the water and had the reception with a live band inside. The Filter Building is bare bones, so there is a lot of room to make it your own and customize it to what you want. We personally loved the old character of the building and brick walls. The staff that is in charge of running the venue did an excellent job communicating every step of the way. We would have chosen this venue over again if we had to re-do the day. It was everything we wanted and more. Our guests are still commenting on how unique and cool the venue was!

    Effortless

By keeping catering, setup, linens, and venue management all in-house, FGF at the Filter Building made our wedding experience effortless. The day went incredibly smoothly and myself and my bride had a blast. Also, a special mention to our bridal attendant with FGF, Betsy, as she served us throughout the night. She also made sure to save some hors d'eouvres for us to bring over after the ceremony as we took a minute to ourselves in the bridal sweet. Overall, a fantastic experience and we highly recommend FGF and the Filter Building at White Rock Lake.

    Beautiful Venue

We loved our wedding at the Filter Building! It had rained for many days before our wedding so we opted to have the ceremony inside, but it was still beautiful. We had no issues working with the staff to coordinate everything we needed there that day and as others have said, they were always very transparent about their pricing and policies, so there were no surprises. We choose to work with one of the preferred caterers, which I would recommend as the venue does have some specific rules (understandably so) regarding how the venue needs to be cleaned at the end of the night and the caterer already knew what to do without me having to tell them anything.

    Great venue!

We picked the filter building for our wedding and it has great views of white rock lake and love the historic/industrial style inside the venue. We were able to have cocktail hour on the lake side patio and reception inside.

    Beautiful - Bare Bones

This venue is beautiful and very easy to work with. Their fees are transparent so you will have no surprises tacked on.
The only thing they provide is round tables, white garden chairs, and hightop/cocktail tables. String lights on the patio are an additional fee and well worth it.
All of my Dallas vendors were familiar with them so that made life easy as well. They have floorplans on their website you can work with to create your own floorplan with your vendors, or send to your coordinator if you have one.
I know there was an officer on duty but I hardly noticed him. I think I saw him twice - once when I was about to walk out to the ceremony, and once when we were about to leave for our sparkler exit.
We decided to move our ceremony to the patio at the last minute since the lawn was still in the sun at 6:30pm and I didn't want me or my groom and guests getting sweaty - nor to have the sun in my eyes. This was a bit cramped. I had 5 chairs on either side of the aisle - go with only 4 chairs if you move up to the patio.
I loved the ambiance. My guests could be outdoors conversing in a more relaxed environment, or inside partying on the dance floor.
The location is super easy to get to, and there are loads of picture perfect places around the lake.
We paid the additional fee for an outside caterer so we could have a food truck (Tacos Bites and Beats). This was a hit but not recommended for parties much larger than 100.
    Definitely recommend The Filter Building.

The people Filter Building are very easy to work with and quickly responded to all of my crazy, last minute questions promptly. They provide a very beautiful backdrop for the wedding and they were exactly the venue that we were looking for, without nickel and diming us. The prices were up front on the website and they gave us the freedom to bring in the vendors that we wanted to work with.

The Filter Buliding is an interesting space. It's mainly a large brick room (with an upstairs for the bride) with a lawn and concrete patio overlooking White Rock Lake.

There is no "day-of" coordinator associated with the building, just a person that takes your payment, shows you the property, and opens/closes the door the day of your event. Therefore, make sure you have solid vendors (photographer, dj, caterer).

We had an outdoor ceremony on the lawn, cocktail hour on the patio, and reception indoors with a wedding of 110 guests. The interior is definitely large enough to house 110 but I recommend using both the outdoor and indoor spaces.

The space is beautiful, very simple, with room to mingle and dance. Highly recommend!

The Filter Building is a beautiful venue and has a great view of White Rock Lake. We were able to have a very affordable wedding at the Filter Building, as they do not have F&B minimums and allow you to purchase your own alcohol as long as you check it in to the TABC certified bartender that is usually supplied by the caterer. We did not have a wedding planner, so it was a little more work to research all the vendors. Although, this allowed us to save tons of money on food, linens, etc., and also make it more personable. Carla was also very flexible and quick to respond to my emails. The building also photographs very well, and the brick in the background looks really great. We had tons of compliments on the venue, and had plenty of space with 150 guest and a large dance floor. I would highly suggest the Filter Building as a wedding venue!

Beautiful venue! Great backdrop for pictures. Carla was very easy to get in touch with and answered all my questions. They already have chairs and tables so you don't have to worry about rentals of those.
They were kind enough to let us have the morning time on a day where a wedding was already booked that afternoon.
They have a lot of guidelines as far as responsibilities that are on the caterer, but they give you a list of caterers that they are familiar with and already know the rules. (See my review on Tastefully yours!)

I had my wedding at The Filter Building July 12, 2014. The entire process from signing a contract to saying "I do" was a dream. Carla is very helpful and accommodating. Expectations are also clearly communicated, and the venue is beautiful. We received numerous compliments from our guests, and the wedding day went exceptionally smooth. I also took my bridal portraits at the Filter Building and am so glad I did. The setting was perfect. I've received many compliments on them as well. I would definitely recommend booking your event here!

We can't say enough great things about the Filter Building. The location itself, is absolutely gorgeous and provides so much natural beauty. We loved the flexibility to bring in our own beverages and choose our own caterer along with other vendors. The proximity to White Rock lake provides a back drop that is unmatched in Dallas, and transports you to what feels like a sleepy lake town, even though you are a stone's throw from the metroplex.

It is a completely white canvas, that you get to create, which is what we were searching for. Our event could not have gone any better and we adored everything about the Filter Building. We would highly recommend any one looking for a creative, unconventional space to check it out.

I fell in love with the Filter Building the minute I walked in. It's a beautiful unique venue that not everyone knows about. The building itself is so beautiful that you don't have to worry about too many decorations. Carla, the reservation coordinator at the filter building, was extremely prompt in answering all questions. We had an issue with our original date of the wedding and she was very flexible about changing the date for us. We have gotten so many compliments fromm our guest about the venue we chose and we wouldn't change that decision for the world!

Dealing with Carla Rae (Filter Bldg Volunteer Coordinator) was great.
Her responsiveness and professionalism were exceptional.
I was planning for over a year and this is such a detailed process.
I can honestly say that I was able to feel at peace after signing my contract with the FB, which relieved me of one less stresser. I never felt I needed to check in on the venue.

The only issue we had was not being able to have a rehearsal, however, this is spelled out in the contract, so it was just one of those things. We rehearsed a couple of hours on the wedding day, which was fine.

We loved having our ceremony and reception at the Filter Building. We had the ceremony outside with the awesome view of the water. We had cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the patio for the guests while we did our pictures, and then we had the reception inside. We had about 140-150 guests and the space fit perfectly, with a good sized dance floor and open area for the photo booth, bar tenders, and buffet tables for the food.
Carla was great to work with and assisted in making all our planning go smoothly. We run at WR Lake all the time and we could not have imagined another place to get married and we were not disappointed!! Thank you Filter Building!!!!

We had an April wedding at the Filter Building, and it was the perfect venue. I grew up near White Rock Lake, so it was extra special to me, and the venue is so affordable which is an extra perk! Booking the venue was so easy through their venue coordinator, Michelle, and she was very responsive and easy to work with the whole time. You can make this space anything you want - our wedding featured a jazz band and very minimal decor aside from flowers and it looked and felt beautiful and elegant. It is truly a blank slate. We had 180 guests which is the max I would recommend if you want to have a band a dance floor. We did have 19 tables though, so you can make it work no matter how many guests you have! We had our ceremony on the lawn and reception indoors, but you can also set it up in any way you want! Make the space your own, and you won't regret it! And the lake views are unparalleled. Can't recommend it more!

Monica at the Filter Building helped us navigate this exciting process and made it work so smoothly! It rained on our wedding day and we had to pivot to indoors. The staff and crew helped us make it perfectly magical, despite the weather. We are so grateful to have gotten married here!!

    Gorgeous Venue!

We loved getting married at The Filter Building! It was beautiful and surpassed all expectations. The transition from ceremony to reception was totally seamless. We also sprung for the string lights and high tops on the patio outside and would 100% recommend for an evening wedding. It gave people space to step outside who wanted to step away and talk while the dancing continued inside. I only gave 4 stars for responsiveness because when we originally booked the venue, I believe the leadership was under some transition so it wasn’t clear who I needed to be communicating with. Closer to wedding day, it felt like it all was sorted out and our day was perfect!

This was a great place for our wedding! The outdoor ceremony was beautiful and the indoor area was the perfect size for our wedding. The character of this historic building really gave our wedding a unique look and atmosphere that we loved. The price was very reasonable compared to other similar options. We liked that you could bring your own alcohol as that really cuts down on the costs. Having the ceremony and reception at the same place also made it very easy for everyone. Such a neat place!

This building itself is just beautiful. It was such a romantic setting on White Rock Lake for the ceremony and a modern feel inside for the reception.

We had about 125 guests and there was more than enough space...almost too much for our number. We were lucky to have perfect weather for our rehearsal and wedding day which made it seem even more beautiful.

It's a huge empty space which can be a negative or positive depending on how much work you want to put into decor. I was more of a DIY bride which was perfect for this venue. There are a few restrictions but that is with any space. You are also able to use your own caterer but a list is provided of companies who've worked there before.

The cost was excellent for us because our wedding was held on a Friday. If you look at their website, Saturday is obviously more expensive. Unfortunately, I do believe prices have gone up since we booked a year ago because it's become more popular.

If you are looking for a unique outdoor space with an area to have your reception as well...this is it. Our pictures turned out great because of the lake background and the modern look inside.

We really didn't have a second choice for a venue for our wedding and reception--we loved the Filter Building. We were lucky with the weather and had our ceremony outside overlooking the lake. Inside, the venue was the perfect size for our sit down dinner for 106. Carla was great to deal with and not averse to reasonable last minute changes.
We would recommend the Filter Building to others!

It's hard to find a spot in Dallas with natural beauty and good facilities together. The filter building is a beautifully spare room where you can put your own decorating touch. The setting is serene and lovely right on White Rock Lake. Plenty of room for dancing and lovely space outside for guests who want a little fresh air. Make sure that you double-check how you want your lighting ahead of time if you have an evening wedding- I had only visited during daylight, so I might have made some more ambient choices. Really pleased that we had our reception there.

    Obsessed with The Filter Building

My husband and I got married here in May 2025. We had a rainy wedding day unfortunately but were happy that we were able to utilize the inside of the venue for our ceremony. This is such a beautiful space and so central to Dallas. Our guests loved staying around White Rock Lake.

We had our wedding at the filter building in February. I was hoping for an outdoor ceremony overlooking the lake but the weather had different ideas. We were able to do both ceremony and reception inside with a room flip. The venue is completely DIY with no staff to help set up or break down. I think the price is a little steep for what you get. You basically get the venue for 8 hours and pay extra for their table and chairs. You also have to pay for them to string the lights and have to decide a month before (we didn't even use the patio due to weather so it was a waste.) we also had to pay for valet since we had more than 130 guests. Overall our wedding was beautiful and am happy with the venue we chose! I got a lot of compliments.

A great venue especially if you frequent the lake like we do! It's nice to take walks and be able to connect with the space where we married. I loved the space and used a lot of natural elements in our wedding decor to tie in the venue.

They are very particular about leaving trash, cleanliness, and usage of hours, etc. which is acceptable - I would do the same if I was renting a space that I owed and they want to keep it clean. However, I was a little disappointed that some graffitti wasn't removed (graffitti is often on the patio brick wall) before our wedding. Nothing major but they could have cleaned it before our wedding just as I made sure my vendors left it they way we found it. I also got an early morning call the day after the wedding that was sort of frustrating. They said the table top to one of the highboy tables was missing - after calling all my vendors and my parents sounding alarms to find this top, they called less than 30 minutes later and it was found. Would have like to not have been bothered the morning after but again - not a huge deal.

I like that you can rent their tables/chairs and they have new highboys if you do a cocktail hour on the patio. The patio lights are an extra cost but worth it - they add a beautiful dynamic to the patio at night.

All in all - this a great space!!!

I wasn't looking for a traditional ballroom or country club wedding, The Filter Building fulfilled my needs for a beautiful, historical space that had both an outdoor ceremony space and an indoor reception space. The lakeview backdrop during the ceremony was just absolutely breath-taking. It has a great serene feel in the middle of a bustling city.

The Filter Building is a great value for DIY brides because it allows you to bring in everything. The downside is that since you have to bring everything yourself/through a vendor, it can be a lot of work. The site coordinator, Carla, is friendly and easy to reach via email. But unlikethe site coordinators at most other venues, she's mostly there to ensure that the building is locked/unlocked at the right times. You will definitely need your own wedding coordinator (or someone acting as a coordinator) if you're using The Filter Building.

The Filter Building is an architectural beauty! It's scenic views of White Rock Lake are irresistible. I paid a bit more for this location because I knew I wouldn't have to spend a ton of money on extra decorations, etc. If you want an industrial-chic venue for your wedding/event, look no further. I paid extra for chair/table rentals and the cafe lights. Everything looked wonderful on wedding evening! They're very strict on event times and clean up- so make sure your vendors know these details. They also do not allow you to have a rehearsal at the building. My recommendation is to work with Sally Shaw, event coordinator, and local vendors. They know this building like the back of their hand!

First, DO NOT invite 200 seated guests to this venue. With a DJ, 2 bars, and 2 double sided buffets plus gift and cake tables we seated 150 guests (10 each at 60" round tables, plus 16 at a rectangular head table) this past December 3, 2016 and it was maxed out in space. It was comfortable in temperature with all the body heat balancing the cold outside, but any more tables and the buffet and dance floor would have been so crowded! The guests complimented the buffet set up siting how quickly they were able to get food, so I wouldn't skimp on space there. They will tell you you can fit 200, but with all the other stuff a wedding calls for I can't even imagine how you would make that work. That said, this venue was absolutely perfect for our wedding reception. We live in the area and were actually engaged about 50 yards away from it on the lake. We love White Rock Lake so there really wasn't another option for us. Everything was perfect the day of the wedding. The only reason for the less than 5 stars on both quality and flexibility is because it's not always open, you have to look at the calendar to be able to drop in on a Saturday when the door is unlocked and the 2 hour weekday planning session you get after you book it can't go longer than 5:30pm. As someone who works a 9-5 that was a little frustrating at the time, but honestly it all worked out and I personally really didn't suffer from it. No one is to blame either, it's a venue in high demand with almost every weekend booked all year round so they have to limit public access. I highly recommend this venue.

We fell in love with the filter building from the get go. We scheduled it a week after we got engaged. Working with Carla was great. It's an old brick building with a lot of charm. You could have a beautiful wedding with little to no decorations there. Although if you do plan to do some decorating, they have a lot of rules about where you can place decorations and what kind of decorations. They require that you have a police officer if you provide alcohol. But at least they let you provide your own alcohol, which cuts down on costs. It is a fairly cheap venue for Dallas, although it looks like their fee is going up for the upcoming years. However, if you are looking for a place to do both your wedding and reception, its a great option. We had our ceremony on the lawn next to the lake and then held the reception indoors. You have to use one of their approved caterers, which some can be pricey. And the venue does not setup your event, so your caterers or another vendor will have to do your table and chair setup. All in all a great venue, but it requires a lot of coordination to make it all come together. Book in advance, I called 1 year ahead and they only had 4 weekends left.

I had both my ceremony and reception at The Filter Building. We were looking for a venue that could work for an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception.

I was pretty happy with the venue overall. The main thing I would implore on future brides looking at this venue is you need to realize that it is SUPER DIY. You will literally be renting an empty space and there is little to no assistance from the lady who works there. I only saw her once on the day we singed the contract. When we scheduled to visit a second time to have a planning meeting she didnt show up. It was fine, but if you're looking for any assistance you're not going to find it here. They are also a *touch* strict on decor, which is a little annoying. The inside of the building has a sort of industrial look with metal girders and rafters. They will not allow you to hang anything here, no twinkle lights, no lanterns, nothing. This is kind of a shame b/c it really cuts down on the ambiance you are able to create in such an open space.

Other than those small things, it worked really well as our venue. Our pictures turned out amazing and several of our guests came up to tell me how much they liked the space. It's also pretty affordable compared to venues with a similar style.

I loved having our wedding at The Filter Building - you really don't need much for decoration as the exposed brick with the lake in the background provide a great backdrop. The only drawback I have is we could not have a rehersal there the night before - if they do not have an event the building closes at 5:00pm.

The Filter Building is an amazing place and well worth the money. The only reason why I dont give it five stars is because of our person of contact at the Filter Building. They have great people on their staff that we had the pleasure of dealing with, but the person who you contact with any questions or concerns was not the greatest. So just be cautious of that. My family also paid alot of money for the beautiful out door lighting to be set up by the filter building and we realized the day after that it was not set up. It was something I really really wanted, we did get our money back, but for it to cost that much to begin with and then not be set up is a little silly. Other than that it is a great place and I would recommend it to anyone.

The Filter Building is a great industrial looking building set on a lake. It has everything you need for an event with a beautiful natural backdrop. The cost is a good value, especially compared to hotels, etc. While the catering list is not extensive, you can bring in your own, if you like, for an additional small fee. You can also provide your own alcohol, as long as it is served by TABC-certified bartenders, so this can also help with cost. For parties around 200 and below, it is a great space.

I have no regrets about having my wedding here. The actual venue and location are stunning. Especially if you catch the right weather (which we did), you will have everyone asking "how did you find this beautiful place!?!" However, just know to expect zero assistance from a representative of the venue. You will basically receive a contract that explains how everything you need and want will be an extra fee (that may be standard in the wedding industry so I wasn't too surprised) and you're on your own to figure everything out. The contact I had for the venue was Carla. She will get back to you.... eventually, and she can be a bit rude but like I said you hardly work with her at all so it's not too big of a deal. Overall, the space is wonderful so hire a wedding planner if you need any assistance.

The filter building was the most beautiful place for our wedding! We had a few issues with when we could be there to view it, and were unable to do our rehearsal on site because there was another event there and nothing was ever discussed with us regarding that. This venue is completely DIY--other than the tables and chairs being there, you need to bring in everything else. We liked that because we were really able to make it ours, but was much more work than other venues where they have easy packages and places to store things before the wedding day. But it was beautiful and we had an amazing wedding there.

The Filter Building is a gorgeous venue on White Rock Lake in Dallas. The building itself is a beautiful, industrial-chic space which is a blank canvas for your event, and the views of the lake are gorgeous! That being said, the place books up extremely quickly because of its' great pricing and gorgeous views, which are hard to come by in Dallas. We had a Sunday morning wedding and were impressed with the pricing and availability. Note to brides: this venue is 100% DIY, so if you're looking for an all-inclusive venue, look somewhere else! If DIY is your thing (or you're going to hire a wedding coordinator) then you'll be fine!

The Filter Building is an incredibly beautiful and unique venue. I loved the exposed brick and gorgeous lake view with string lights on the patio. Aesthetic aside, The Filter Building is not the most ideal venue - it is very difficult to work with. All communication is done via email and you must view on your own during viewing hours. No one ever meets with you in person. You also only have the venue for 8 hours and must pay extra fees for valet, security guard, turning on the patio lights and extra hours if you need them. While it initially seems like a reasonable venue, these extra fees really add up. You also have to bring EVERYTHING yourself. All they supply are tables and chairs - you must bring your own table cloths and teams of people to set up and tear down. The clean up checklist is extreme (washing the trash cans!) so make sure your caterer is aware or have the proper team in place to clean up. I do not regret having my wedding here because it was so beautiful but I wish I had realized how much extra work would go into planning it at this venue so I'm writing this review so other brides can be more prepared.

The Filter Building is an absolutely gorgeous venue for a wedding. I loved the industrial-chic style with the exposed red brick and iron beams, as well as the stunning view of White Rock Lake. However, it is a complete blank slate/DIY-style venue — you will have to either do ALL set-up and break down yourself or hire an outside service to do so for you. You are paying for 8 hours of rental of an empty venue plus some tables and chairs, nothing more. Extra hours, patio lights, etc. all require additional fees. All in all, the Filter Building ended up being a great place to have our wedding but I wish I'd understood how DIY the venue was before we signed on the dotted line.

I love the building location, and the lake view of course, but cannot say the same for the service. We paid an extra $500 to have lights strung up outside, because we were not allowed to do it ourselves. Day of the wedding, no lights were there! They have offered us a refund, but the fact is that was the ONLY thing we asked them to do for us as any kind of extra they offered, and they blew it. We had no lights outside (our dance floor & DJ were all outside) which meant we had to turn on these huge, hideous flood lights in order to see anything. I was so disappointed. The building is tagged with graffiti as well, and when I brought this up to the coordinator there, she said they would not try to clean it off and that my contract stated I had to accept the building in whatever condition it was in. Not classy having graffiti in the background of your wedding photography. Beautiful location, horrible management.
