Best experience we could’ve asked for!
When envisioning our wedding day, we always knew that securing the best band possible was our top priority. We had previously experienced the magic of The Engagements at my brother’s wedding a couple years back and had a hard time finding any other band that could possibly compare. We danced all night long to oldies of every kind, sweat through our dresses, and rocked out passionately alongside The Engagements.
Once we hired them for our own wedding, we got to know Aaron and the team even better. As a vendor, they could not be more professional, flexible, timely, kind, laid back, and genuinely the greatest pleasure to work with. Unlike many of the overly managed and produced wedding bands, they are totally down to cater to the songs you want to hear & the vision you have overall. They are truly happy to work WITH you, and guide you where needed, in order to make your wedding night the incredible blast that it should be. And boy was it a blast…
Our guests didn’t get off of the dance floor for the entire night (neither did we)! I couldn’t count the amount of times we had people coming up and telling us it was the best wedding band they’ve ever seen, and has been reflected on in that way innumerable times since our wedding day. They put on an INSANE performance and truly gave us & all our guests the time of our lives. It will forever be one of my greatest memories of our wedding weekend & hands down was the best decision we made in our hiring process.
If you are considering them, look no further. You found a wedding band that is different from the generic ones in the BEST way possible. Wish we could do it all over again!

We cannot speak highly enough about The Engagements. Easily one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. From their videos on YouTube to their song list - we were confident from the start, but seeing them live was even better than we could have hoped for! The song list is spot on for those who don't want the same old wedding playlist, and one of the greatest joys we had in wedding planning was creating our list of 'must play' songs and getting so excited by the number of incredible things they can play. The flexibility and willingness to learn and play some songs for us added an incredibly personal touch to it all too.
They are incredibly easy to work with and shared in our excitement, making it all a complete pleasure. I cannot thank them enough, and hiring them will be the best decision you will make for your wedding! -

I wish we could give this band 10 stars - 5 just doesn't seem like enough! Hiring the Engagements for our wedding was the best choice we made in all of 2023. My husband saw them play at a friends wedding several years ago, and we are so grateful, honored, and thrilled that we were able to get them for our wedding as well.
These musicians are seriously TOP NOTCH. As a professional musician myself, I wanted to be sure I was hiring a band that actually plays together regularly, not just some random NYC wedding band - which there are A LOT of. Don't be fooled by the comparatively small number of reviews here on Google or elsewhere on the internet. It's because they are a single band that can only be in one place at one time. Most wedding "bands" you see in NYC are actually just a hodgepodge of musicians hired by a contractor who throws people together at the last minute. Seriously, sometimes they are calling singers/instrumentalists the week of the event! Sure, those are all super talented individuals, but if you want your wedding music to sound just as good, if not BETTER than the recordings you like, then you need to hire a band that plays together all the time. Most "wedding bands" do not fall under this category. The Engagements have played together for years, are rhythmically tight, perfectly balanced, fun, energetic, and can do ALL of your favorite tunes from the last 70ish years of recorded music. They are especially perfect if you love music from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Aaron was an absolute pleasure to work with, from our first call through the end of the wedding night. We hired the 11-piece band for the reception, and Aaron graciously agreed to DJ our Spotify playlist for the ceremony and cocktail hour. (We did blow our budget on the reception music, hence the recorded music for the ceremony and cocktail hour, but it was MORE than worth it!!) They let us select exactly which songs we wanted to be played at the reception. They learned several songs for us, including a Brazilian tune ("País Tropical") for the beginning of the party and even agreed to have one of my Brazilian friends play guitar and sing with them on it. They learned "Don't Look Back in Anger" by Oasis for us as our last song for the night. It was so epic! They ALSO snuck behind my back with my husband and surprised me by letting HIS band play for a couple of songs during the night!
It was a huge party. Everyone was dancing the whole night. My 90-year-old Aunt who had leg surgery this past Spring was up and dancing! Truly, we loved getting married, but the best part of the night was their music and the dance party! I only wish that we could do it again...

The Engagements were a natural/easy choice for us for our wedding celebration. Being music lovers ourselves, we really wanted to find a band that conveyed our love of music. What better choice than professional touring musicians!?Aaron ,the band leader, is an absolute pleasure to work with. He is extremely thorough with communication of details and has a unique flare for curating a set list that feels individualized and special. He even remembered a song I had mentioned in conversation that I thought would be fun for our cake cutting.The Engagements have SO MANY songs to choose from and really went the extra mile to learn specific requests for songs we wanted on our playlist. They were excellent with keeping themselves a surprise from our guests and even the groom. Everyone is still raving about the music from our wedding. They definitely have something for everyone to enjoy and it’s not the same tired playlist from other bands. EVERYONE will dance!! They specialize in the deeper cuts. If you are a music lover I highly recommend them! We could not be more happy will our decision to have them play our wedding. Also, I recommend getting the horn section! You won’t regret it! -

The Engagements are a phenomenal band to have at any wedding!!! They were super responsive to us during our planning phase, Aaron the point of contact and drummer is very friendly and easy to work with. Their professionalism and adaptability were first class through the entire process. One of the vocalists had to be on the other side of the country the day of our wedding and they offered to have him fly back for the day just to do our event!! These guys will go the full mile for you and then some. -

From the start, Aaron made the entire experience seamless and stress-free. We had asked them to learn a few songs for the wedding day and it was unbelievable hearing them perform with their own twist. They even played the thundering noise for my father-daughter song request It’s Raining Men. They were so good, it became more of a concert than a wedding. The Engagements are truly an incredible band! We can’t recommend them enough and hope to see them perform again in the near future. Thank you to The Engagements! -

"BEST BAND EVER!" -- everyone at our wedding
Hiring The Engagements as our wedding band was by far the best (and easiest) decision my husband and I made. They are so unbelievably talented - we knew when we saw their videos on IG and YouTube that we wanted them no matter what! Not only are they talented but their repertoire is EPIC... The kinds of songs you don't normally hear at a wedding but WISHED you did! We had so much fun going through the list and picking our "must plays", and then seeing our guests' reactions was everything! They also learned a handful of songs for us, to make our day even more special and personal, and honestly they crushed every single one.
Working with them, particularly Aaron, was such an absolute joy. They were all so kind, down to earth, professional and just overall great people! "Best band ever" was the phrase heard over and over throughout the night and it's true! HIRE THEM NOW -

The absolute coolest band out there.
There's not much to say about the Engagements that hasn't already been said. If the music at your party is important to you and you want to incorporate some deep cuts from the 70s/80s/90s, there's literally no better band than the Engagements. From their incredible song list to their absolute professionalism, The Engagements were an absolute joy to work with.
Before our wedding, Aaron took the time to talk to us about our likes/dislikes as well as answer any questions we had about how everything would work. The Engagements have a massive repatoire of songs and Aaron asked us to flag which songs we felt were "must plays" and which were "don't plays". He also asked us to produce a list of songs that weren't on the song list but which the band might be able to learn for us (they learned 4 songs off that list!). After sending those over, Aaron quickly followed up with some suggestions a little further off the beaten path that we might enjoy. He also used our second call to walk us through how the evening would unfold: when we'd enter for our first dance, when they would pause for speeches and breaks, and when the dancing would begin. Everything went incredibly smoothly the night of the party. From a vendor management perspective, we never had to worry.
When it came to the party, everything went even better than we could've hoped. My wife and I aren't great dancers, so we were nervous that the live accompaniment during our first dance might not match up exactly with the recording we'd practiced to. Well, we're happy to report that Aaron and the band played an absolutely perfect replica of our first dance song. Throughout the night, people kept asking us how we found the band since they were simulantanousely a great wedding band, yet not your typical wedding band. They got the entire party (including a few folks we've never seen dance before) out onto the dance floor all night long.
The last thing I'll add is that after the party, we had so many people request the set list that we made a Spotify playlist that's actually being used. -

What a band!
We were lucky enough to have The Engagements perform at our wedding this past July. Working with Aaron was an absolute pleasure and he made the entire experience smooth and stress free.
I am a musician and many of our friends/guests are musicians as well. Music was a very important aspect of our wedding going into planning and we wanted to make sure we had a real band with their own unique sound to get our guests going. Upon coming across The Engagements I was wowed by their sound and the unique song selections they offered.
We reached out to inquire about booking and Aaron was super responsive and totally open. The entire process was a breeze and he made us feel totally comfortable throughout. We also had our wedding delayed a year due to COVID and Aaron could not have been more accommodating. It really made dealing with the mess of moving our wedding all that much easier.
Their performance at our wedding was one to remember. I can't count to number of guests that came up to us during the wedding and after telling us how great our wedding band was! The dance floor was packed all night and everyone had a blast.
I can't recommend The Engagements enough for anyone looking for a wedding band. They are sure to provide a unique sound for your event and will certainly have your guests dancing! -

After postponing our wedding reception for 15 months, we were finally able to have the best party with the best wedding band in New York in June 2021. We knew it was going to be a special day, and The Engagements were one of the main reasons for it. Six months later, our wedding guests are still talking about how amazing they were and how it was just like seeing a concert by your favorite band. Not only do The Engagements sport an incredible song selection of 80s pop and new wave, they're amazing musicians and performers and they're just great to work with. They learned songs that were meaningful to us and played the most epic of epic horahs. The small combo they put together for our cocktail hour was fantastic too. My wife and I have nothing but positive things to say about the Engagements, and I've got my fingers crossed for an excuse to book them again sometime soon! -

From beginning to end The Engagements (Lucy Music) were awesome to work with. We were looking for a more alternative (read: classic rock, 80s) band for our wedding that would have our guests dancing all night. The Engagements did that and more - their talent is undeniable and we are so grateful they were there to help us celebrate our wedding. They were thorough and flexible when needed - working with our vendors seamlessly and creating a playlist that was authentic to us. We couldn't recommend them more and look forward to hiring them again for another event! -

The most phenomenal band out there!
If you are lucky enough to get The Engagements, do not let the opportunity pass you up. They are sui generis and will make your wedding an epic celebration!
They were recommended to us and from the moment we spoke to Aaron, the manager, we knew we had found an exceptional band. Aaron is incredible to work with. He was responsive, helpful, kind, and patient. Each of the band members was extremely kind and cool too.
Their range, sound, energy, and talent will make any wedding a night to remember. This is NOT your average, cookie-cutter wedding band. This is a band that will surprise and delight your guests. We had several wedding guests tell us it was the best wedding band they had ever heard—they were raving for weeks. Six months later, we still get compliments. Even in writing this review I wish I could go back and bust a move to The Engagements tunes!
The Engagements went above and beyond: in addition to playing our requests from their lists, they learned each and every one of the special-request songs that were not on the list. This included a lesser-known 70's tune that has special significance for us and made us practically fly with happiness. We were on cloud nine the entire night because of this marvelous band.

First and foremost let me mark this as a LGBTQA+ friendly band. Our wedding included my trans and NB friends both as guests and in the wedding party and The Engagements were so respectful of pronouns and it meant a lot to us. Please keep that in mind if that is something you require for your wedding as well!
Now, on to the meat and potatoes!!!
This band is INCREDIBLE!! Not only do they bring down the house with their amazing set list, but they work with you to make the song list personal. I was looking for a band that played music I actually listened to and The Engagements nailed it! For us they played Queen, Bowie, The Clash, Fleetwood Mac, Marvin Gaye, and heck they played the The Cure so hard my face melted off! They learned Tainted Love as a surprise for my mom, and they learned BTO for my dad on top of their already full and eclectic song list. It was beyond personal! They play the music you actually WANT to hear at a wedding, not the music you expect to and are tired of. They will work with you to find a set list you love and will have all of your guests screaming with joy, “OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS SONG!”. All of our guests loved them and spent the whole night dancing and telling us how great the band is. It’s been 3 months, and we are still hearing about how great the band was at our wedding! They really nailed the favorites. They played so many warm and nostalgic songs, the type of songs that you forgot you loved and immediately need to hear again. Every song was a hit with our crowd, every song had them singing along even when they were taking a dance break, and it just gave the whole party something truly special.
The whole band is so talented and easy to work with, it was the perfect soundtrack for our day. They made the whole process so effortless and Aaron could not have been more helpful. He is so professional and knows exactly what to do and work with all the vendors to make everything flow seamlessly. No need to fuss over details, just trust in Aaron and the Engagements. They know what they are doing and get it done.
Don’t just take this from a Bride, take it from someone who has been in and at dozens of weddings, this band is something special. They are frankly, the best. If you love music, you’ll love them. BOOK THE ENGAGEMENTS. -

This band is truly special. From day one of working with Aaron, it was clear to us that The Engagements wanted to put on a performance that spoke to our union personally, encapsulated the narrative of our romance, and got every friend and family member shaking their butts. They learned several of our requests, took time on the phone listening to what these live music fans look for in a great band, and worked patiently to help us bring our fantastical ideas to life. Their ceremony music was the perfect mix of sentiment and unique arrangements. We wound up with a dream band and a dream celebration—classics and hits for every age in the room, deep cuts and sentimental requests for my wife and I, and a closing rendition of Sly Stone's take on "Que Sera Sera" that quickened heartbeats and brought all the feels. Everyone we've caught up with since the special day has absolutely raved about The Engagements' performance at our wedding. We can't recommend them enough. -

We hired The Engagements for our wedding this past June, and they were UNBELIEVABLE!!!! We received nonstop compliments from our guests - all of whom were on the dance floor the entire night. Aaron, the drummer and band manager, was helpful from the start, providing detailed and thoughtful responses to all the many questions I had. Vocalists John, JD, Heather and Emil were all amazing - each member brought their own unique sound/vibe and they play together perfectly. They have a big repertoire of songs, but were also able to learn several "wishlist" songs for us and they executed them so well! I knew having a band would be the biggest splurge, and it was SO WORTH IT. -

Perfection!
If you’re having a wedding and you plan to have music at that wedding, there is really no other logical choice than hiring The Engagements to play that music. We, like so many other couples, were looking for the atypical wedding band that doesn’t play all the same old, tired wedding band music. We found The Engagements online and what we listened to when we came upon their website seemed to match what we were going for – a band whose setlist included Talking Heads, Davie Bowie, Prince, James Brown, all sorts of 70s soul, and 80s pop.
Once we contacted them, Aaron was immediately responsive, professional and super easy to work with. Because we knew we wanted to see them live before committing, Aaron invited us to see them perform at a large-scale, public event. Within thirty seconds of listening to them, we made our decision. Their energy is unreal (it seems like they never get tired), each bandmember seems to absolutely love playing music, and each of them is a phenomenal musician.
Once we booked them, the process was seamless. Aaron stayed in touch – he’s the sweetest guy. So wonderful to work with! He manages the administrative stuff and also plays a mean drum kit. He let us collaborate and give input on song choice, was easy to communicate with throughout the planning process, and worked out all logistical issues with the venue. He really made everything so simple.
Every musician in the band is extremely talented. JB, one of the singers (there were three amazing singers!!), sang our first dance song and absolutely nailed it. The setlist was perfect and our guests basically had no choice but to dance without resting for a few hours thanks to The Engagements’ electric energy and exciting/unpredictable song choices. So many of our guests told us that it was an experience they’d never had at a wedding – more like a concert experience than a wedding reception. One of our friends accosted (in a good way) JB afterward and drunkenly raved about his talents and how moved she was by the band's music. The one thing that has been somewhat unpleasant about this experience is that our relatives who we barely speak to keep emailing us about how good The Engagements were. In short, book this band, guys. And, if you do, feel free to invite us so we can dance to their music again. Our June is wide open. -

Without a doubt, hiring The Engagements was the best decision we made in our wedding planning.
Our number one goal was for our guests to have a good time, and Lucy Music delivered from start (with the String Tribute Quartet), to a trio from the band for our cocktail hour, to late into the night with an 8-piece band for our 100 guests. I’m a music lover so once the venue was picked, the band was the next most important decision, as they set the tone for the whole night. We did an extensive search. Every step of the process with Aaron of Lucy Music was a joy. He made the contract, communications for song selection, and the day of the wedding, a breeze. A major reason we choose them was not only a great song list from the 80s, but that they play them with passion and authenticity. They sound amazing! We had considered an 80s cover band that felt almost more like a concert rather than being there for your party or another that were cheesy with silly costumes. The Engagements are talented musicians, often touring artists, who we were lucky enough also do this. They actually agreed to even learn several songs for our wedding upon our request and nailed them! You would think they had performed them for years. All our guests had an amazing time dancing all night. Friends and family, who are musicians, said they were the best band they’ve ever seen at a wedding. After the stress of wedding planning, we were ready to have a good time. Having The Engagements at our reception was the perfect wedding gift to ourselves. They did everything we asked and more. I cannot recommend them highly enough. -

We (and our guests, who couldn't stop talking about them) absolutely loved the Engagements!! They were so much fun, and truly, truly talented. If you're looking for something a little different than the typical wedding band (think - lots of 70s-80s music, nothing too modern or pop-y) then the Engagements are perfect. They were SO much fun and learned quite a bit of songs for us, too! It really felt like more than just a wedding band, but like a real concert/dance party.
Aaron was extremely flexible and easy to work with. He ended up helping us out with our ceremony music, and even was able to add in music for cocktail hour fairly last minute. He was down to earth and easy to work with from beginning to end. Everything turned out perfectly and we couldn't have asked for more!
