Breathtaking, Romantic and Intimate
This was the first and only venue we saw. Words cannot describe how beautiful and intimate the wooden hall is, and the grounds are no exception. This venue and this team was perfection. We had a great time planning and executing our wedding. The team is super communicative and made us feel like it was our day. We are extremely greatful. Do not hesitate and reach out, you won't regret it. The firepit was a smash, we're still collecting all the compliments from our guests. Thank you guys. -

Beautiful Unique Venue
We are so happy we chose this venue for our December wedding – it was so perfect. The building is so unique. The warm wood and huge windows are so beautiful both in the natural light during the day and at night with the chandeliers and candlelight. The grounds outside have so many places to take photos – there are different backdrops set up by landscaping companies that looked great when we visited in the summer and when we had our December wedding. This really is a venue for any season.
From the barns on the property, to the greenhouse, to the Conservatory room, and the cocktail hour room, there are so many places to take photos or do a first look. We did our first look and did our portraits and photos together outside, but did our family photos inside the Conservatory and the ones we have seen so far came out so beautiful. I loved that we didn’t have to worry about the weather – we ended up with a mild winter day, but if it had been rainy, we could have taken all of our photos inside and would have been just as happy with them because the inside is so unique and pretty.
We loved that the venue has a vibe of being “away” from everything since the property is so large, while being less than 15 minutes away from our hotel block, where there are also plenty of stores for if you or your guests need any last-minute purchases.
We also used the day-of coordination service through the Conservatory and we would highly recommend it to everyone. We had Shea, who we met during our initial tour, and she was with us every step of the way. She answered all of our questions, ran through a rehearsal with all of the people walking down the aisle while we were taking photos, helped set up, coordinated between the different vendors, and really just helped make the day run so smoothly.
You can also add on use of the firepit which we did, and was a big hit with our guests who wanted to get away from the party for bit.
One thing to plan ahead for is that you can’t do hair and makeup at the Conservatory, so we showed up with hair and makeup already done and hung out for a bit while waiting to get dressed. But in my opinion, this actually made it easier because we didn’t have to worry about getting there super early and packing so much to bring to the venue. We got ready at the hotel room and then were able to show up only with what we needed for the actual wedding. It also gave us some built-in time to rest and take it all in while the photographers were taking our details photos.
Finally, we loved that we had an area to drop off décor and any other items we might need before the wedding and that Shea and our other vendors were able to set up right away. It was one less thing to worry about that day (either dropping things off early in the morning, or having to bring everything with us when we arrived). Everything that we left there on the wedding night was also packed up and put back in that area for easy pick-up the next day.
Overall, we are so happy that we chose the Conservatory for our wedding and would recommend it to anyone! -

The Conservatory is the most beautiful venue with the most attentive and wonderful staff. From the moment we walked in to the space, we knew this was going to be the venue for us. We didn't tour any other places; none of them could compare! The Conservatory is beautiful on its own, and we really didn't need that much decor to bring our vision to light. Shea especially is the sweetest person. The Conservatory offers a Day-of-Coordinator and Shea was ours--she handled set-up and clean up and was there for any minor assistance if needed. She even took some photos and videos throughout the beginning of the day and sent them over to me. The Conservatory also has a multitude of options for where to have your ceremony. We were first looking for venues with an outside option, but when we saw that beautiful arch inside, we knew we had to switch our idea. The Conservatory was a bit of a drive for us; 2.5 hours to be exact, but SO SO worth it!! Fantastic idea if you're on a budget. Our guests were telling us all night how gorgeous the place was. -

We got married June 17 and people are still taking about our wedding. The place itself is just beautiful. We loved this venue because we had the flexibility to make it our own with our decorations. We had corn hole and jenga outside. I wanted something Disney themed and we were able to bring in our own stuff to make it look that way. We choose krave for the food and they were amazing. I was little nervous at first because you have to bring in catering and alcohol but the processes is sooo easy. Our caterers brought in the stuff as well as all silverware and plates and cups we didn’t have to do anything! We did hire a day of shea she was amazing! She really took the time to set everything up and make it just like I had it pictured in my head. We even got to end the night with fireworks! We got married at a church then came here so we arrived late but there are sooo many places to take pictures around the property that it didn’t even matter because we didn’t have to walk far to get all the pictures I could have dreamed of captured! I can not recommend this place enough. It truly was my dream wedding -

If you're looking for the perfect venue for your wedding or event, look no further than the Conservatory at Sussex County Fairground. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the beauty of the place. The outdoor space was breathtaking with a lovely pond, multiple gazebos, and stone structures that provided the perfect backdrop for photos.
Inside, the cocktail room had stunning greenery chandeliers and the thoughtful placement of benches made guests feel comfortable and relaxed. The reception area was a separate room that was equally stunning, with high chandeliers and a lot of natural light streaming in through the many windows. The greenery and decorations added the perfect touch of elegance to the already gorgeous space.
The staff at the Conservatory were incredibly easy to work with, and their kindness and attention to detail made the whole experience enjoyable. They were organized, accommodating, and made sure everything was perfect for my special day. The arrangement process was seamless, and they kept in touch throughout the whole planning process, making sure every detail was taken care of.
All in all, if you're looking for a dream venue that will impress your guests and make your special day unforgettable, the Conservatory at Sussex County Fairground is the perfect option. I received over 100 compliments from my guests on how stunning the venue was, and I couldn't agree more. Thank you to the Conservatory for making my day truly magical! -

The Conservatory at the Sussex County Fairgrounds was the first and only venue we toured for our wedding. We were immediately in love, and honestly did not need to see anymore places. This entire venue is breathtaking and perfectly fit our 175 guest wedding. We were lucky enough to get the most perfect weather on our wedding day. Our ceremony was held outside in the courtyard, and our cocktail hour and reception were inside in the Conservatory. Pictures honestly don’t even do this venue justice, as you can truly make the room whatever you want. It was also so comforting to know that in the event of bad weather, we had a beyond beautiful back up option to have the wedding inside. Each person that we interacted with at the Conservatory was extremely kind, and willing to help us in any way they could to make sure our wedding day was everything we dreamed of. Our guests were in awe of the natural beauty that this venue has. For us, our dream was a rustic yet elegant fall wedding, however this venue is beautiful year round. We highly recommend booking your wedding at the Conservatory! -

This venue was incredible and I recommend to anyone looking! I never felt like a number or “another bride” like I did when we toured other venues. The staff was always incredibly attentive, friendly, and extremely flexible and easy going. They have a day-of-coordinator option that was phenomenal! We spoke to her multiple times before the actual wedding. She was always quick to reply and was always a ray of sunshine.
The ceremony was at the gazebo which is surrounded by beautiful gardens. There was plenty of spots for photos. The gardens were perfectly maintained and kept. You would never know it was a dry month in NJ. The inside is rustic but also elegant at the same time.
I wouldn’t change anything about that day and wouldn’t go with any other venue. -

The conservatory was the ONLY venue we visited and we booked on the spot! The indoor space is beautiful and versatile. It is very accessible for wheelchairs and those using walkers. There are countless outdoor photo spaces that are all unique and photograph beautifully. The staff was attentive and wonderful throughout the entire process, which for us was about 2 years. We could not recommend this venue enough! -

The Perfect Venue
I fell in love with the Conservatory from the first time I saw the pictures online, and when we toured the venue I knew it was the one for us. The space is so beautiful and breathtaking, you really don't even need to decorate it at all. We had our ceremony on site as well and everything flowed perfectly. My only concern with the Conservatory was having to secure outside food and beverage vendors, but in the end it was really nice to be able to customize everything to our tastes and choose the vendors that we wanted to work with! Communication with the staff was really great from start to finish, Sarah worked the day of my wedding and she is outstanding at her job!!! We received so many compliments on how pretty the venue was, and I would 100% recommend going with the Conservatory. -

I love Sue-Ann and her new assistant Sarah is the bomb. The venue was the most perfect location and we fell in love right away with the ambiance and natural light. We wanted something completely different then your typical ballroom. It is completely a diy venue. So there is a lot of hands on if you plan on a lot of decor. It was an easy process for booking and they were so so accommodating during covid and we got to use their beautiful tent for our cocktail hour outdoors! We built the best friendship with Sue throughout the process and they are so flexible and will bend over backwards even when things are going wrong! -

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful! We had both the ceremony and reception here. Despite some rain the venue was absolutely beautiful. Sue-Ann and Sarah expertly balanced being attentive without ever feeling overbearing. With all of the stress and planning that goes into a wedding, our wedding day felt neither stuffy or stressful. We wound up being able to really enjoy our wedding day, which we’re so thankful for!

My husband and I had the extreme pleasure of getting married at The Conservatory in August 2020. Our original wedding date was supposed to be in April 2020, but we all know how that goes. Sue-Ann at The Conservatory was incredibly kind and accommodating through this difficult time and was so amazing to work with. Luckily for us, we were able to keep all of our vendors, and though the day looked different than what we had originally planned, it was absolutely amazing. The venue is so effortlessly gorgeous and all of our pictures look incredible. This is a great spot for outdoor weddings, and they are recently purchased an large tent to be able to accommodate outdoor parties during the COVID pandemic. The flowers all around are always so immaculately maintained, so you can really get away with having pretty minimal florals and still have it seemed that you went all out. there are so many places on the grounds to take pictures, you definitely won't be at a shortage! I would honestly highly recommend this venue to anyone who likes a rustic theme! -

This venue is GORGEOUS!
Sue Ann at the Conservatory was so great to work with. We knew from the second we saw the Conservatory that this was the place for our wedding. Our guests are still talking about how beautiful the building and grounds are. Planning a wedding in a pandemic can be very stressful but Sue Ann made sure that she did everything to help us solve every issue we ran into with restrictions. They bought a tent for the garden area since there was no indoor dinning and decorated it with lights to make it more wedding friendly. She is so easy to get in contact with and we couldn’t have been more happy with our experience with the Conservatory. -

The Conservatory at the Sussex County Fairgrounds - for a low budget bride with high budget taste this was the perfect venue ! Since they just got into doing weddings a few years ago when we booked we got an amazing deal. Prices are still competitive but oh my goodness is this place stunning ! It provides a rustic feel but with high class looks. The courtyard with the gazebos, garden, and fountains is perfect for photos and the barn is cozy and charming with their lighting. The actual conservatory is breathtaking. The windows allow he natural light and you get a nice open feeling. My guests were all so impressed. As was I. Sue-Anne and her crew were great to work with. She didn’t mind my millions of texts with all my questions and I felt confident in her hands. -

Our wedding here was PERFECT. Sue-Ann was amazing from start to finish and absolutely stunned us with the setup. The Conservatory itself is gorgeous inside and out (half of the reason we booked it is because it's amazing on the inside even without decorations), and I'm so happy that our photos look like the inspo picture of it we had seen two years ago. Everything went so smoothly and everyone had a brilliant time - I would attend my own wedding a hundred times over! As a side note - I definitely recommend booking the dance floor mat - it looks so nice in photos. -

I never seen such a beautiful place like the Conservatory. My ceremony was absolutely breath taking. We had ours by the gazebo and behind the gazebo were all the flowers and the greens and the beautiful fall colors. Our wedding photos were all done on premises . There was no need to go anywhere else because the conservatory itself is beautiful . The chandeliers and the wood beams on the ceiling are beautiful. We didn’t put much flowers inside because the interior of the conservatory is gorgeous just the way it is. We didn’t want to take the attention away from it. My guest were completely blown away because they never seen a place like that . One of my guest daughter is now considering having her sweet sixteen at the conservatory . I will

Absolutely Perfect
This venue was the one and only one we visited. As soon as I saw the pictures I knew it was the right one for us and when we did out tour visit we immediately booked. It's the most beautiful venue and was everything I imagined for my wedding day. I wanted a DIY venue and this was just it. They are very laid back and pretty much let you do whatever you want with the space and make coming to set up as easy as possible. The Conservatory was the first venue (out of hundreds researched) my then-fiance and I had visited, and upon entering the site we immediately fell in love. The beautiful gardens and naturally-lit and open event space are mesmerizing. Everything about the Conservatory is simple yet elegant, so there was no need to go overboard with decorations and florals since the space itself did all the talking. In addition to being so aesthetically pleasing, the Conservatory's staff was beyond helpful and informative. Danielle and Sue-Ann were easy to communicate with, assisted us with all our inquiries, and made sure the staff was on top of everything the day of our wedding. Thank you to the Conservatory, for the amazing experience and for helping us make the most wonderful day of my and Jorge’s life such a success. -

I literally have no complaints about this place! Danielle is absolutely incredible! Super responsive, great ideas, and answered every single one of my questions. She even gave me florist suggestions when the one we put a deposit with backed out! Most importantly, we felt very comfortable here during the whole process.
We visited several times during the year, final walk through made me right at ease, and we were even able to drop things two days early.
Our day of point person, Alida, was also fantastic. These guys are all rockstars, running an amazing operation.
After our wedding, they kept everything in the greenhouse and we picked it up the next morning after we rested.
The grounds are beautiful, the venue is a BYOB which was perfect since we brewed our own beer with a local brewery. We were also able to have an ice cream truck for dessert and lastly, our pictures came out incredible due to the many great locations for a photo op. We couldn't be happier with our decision.

Beautiful and affordable wedding venue
We had a great experience with the Conservatory. First of all, they are very affordable. They work with a selection of delicious caterers, which made choosing food very easy. And all of the staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. They were able to move our ceremony inside at the last minute because the weather was too cold, but everything still looked beautiful. And they packed everything back up at the end of the night for us to pick up in the morning. They were even able to reuse some of our decorations that we no longer wanted, so we didn't feel so wasteful! Overall, an excellent experience. -

When we did our initial site tour of The Conservatory, we knew right away that this was our perfect venue. Other sites toured after just paled in comparison. With beautiful gardens and tons of rustic charm, it was the right fit for us. Beyond aesthetics, though, working with The Conservatory was a pleasure. Danielle was responsive and insightful, and she helped us with every little detail. Every question I had, she answered. The day of our wedding, she made sure every detail was perfect. I had several guests tell me they wish they knew about The Conservatory when they were getting married. I think that's the ultimate compliment to a venue. -

The Conservatory and the courtyard are absolutely beautiful - even though we had a few cold spells (in April) and barely any flowers were in bloom, our outdoor ceremony was still gorgeous! We also had plenty of photo opportunities - my husband loved the koi pond! Danielle was incredible from the start! she was easy to communicate with, and such a pleasure to work with the day of! Between the two of them they answered every question big or small and were super friendly and understanding of every request and accommodation. On the days leading up to the wedding and on the day of Danielle put me and my husband at ease with every little detail and was super polite and professional to every person there! She helped organize all of our vendors and took so much stress off our shoulders and help plan our day so it was totally customized to our wants and desires!!! The venue alone speaks for itself! It's updated and renovated yet rustic and completely complimented the look and theme we were going for! The bathrooms were finished a few months before our wedding and the floor in the reception area was also redone and beautiful!!! If you want rustic, elegant, dramatic, and sophisticated then this is the venue and team for you!!!!

We knew the moment we saw pictures of the Conservatory that it would be our wedding venue! The venue is stunning both inside the reception space and in the gardens and farm buildings outdoors. The Conservatory staff does a great job ensuring that the space is clean and well maintained, and they are extremely experienced working the wedding scene. Sue-Ann, the venue coordinator, was very easy to communicate with throughout the entire wedding planning process and answered any questions or concerns we had. She and Kate (from Krave Catering) were well-informed and kept us updated about the constantly changing COVID-19 guidelines. We felt very reassured and safe having our wedding during the pandemic. They also were both extremely accommodating when we had to change our date. Sue-Ann allowed us to store our wedding decorations on-site during the week leading up to the wedding and pick them up the day after, which reduced our stress significantly and helped us to truly enjoy our wedding weekend. We also loved Victoria, who kept everything running smoothly the day of the wedding! Definitely recommend this venue to any couple planning to get married in NJ - you won’t be disappointed! -

My husband and I knew we wanted something a little different from the typical Jersey ballroom. When we came across the Conservatory we fell in love and booked it on our first visit. We made the right decision, because it was absolutely perfect. Spacious, gorgeous natural light, beautiful grounds for photos, and just the feel we wanted for an epic party. I toured 8 venues around NJ, and found some 'good enough' options... but when I visited this one, I knew I found the one. I am still in love with how amazingly spacious and beautifully rustic the Conservatory is.
Choosing the venue is not an easy decision. Standard requirements are good food (choose one of their 3 preferred caterers), easy to work with staff, reasonable cost. Our other requirements were high ceilings & lots of light (because better pictures), fits up to 250 guests and indoor/outdoor options (because of NJ weather). Check check check!
Not only would I be supporting a non-profit organization, the fairgrounds was extremely flexible in their policies and even allows pets on site. They only do only 1 event per day and lets you in as early as 5 hours prior to get ready or take pictures. There were mini-gardens and lakes and barns, and there were all sorts of fun festivals going on throughout the year (aka good cell service despite being in a rural area).
Plus the reception hall speaks for itself. Climate-controlled glasshouse makes the indoors feel like outdoors, the wood from sustainable forests of South America and the chandelier decor imported from European designers. There's even a giant garage door for my grand entrance!
I did take a star off for responsiveness. The coordinator had left shortly we had signed on, and despite trying to reach out several times, there were more than a few months of radio silence that got me worried... The newly hired coordinator did reach out a few weeks before the big day, and we managed to get everything prepared in time. Door Games / Tea Ceremony in the Bridal Suite / Zen Garden, Ceremony in the Fun Barn, Cocktail on the patio area & Reception in the Conservatory. Everything is on a hard surface & on one ground floor, and a short walk from each other, so no worries for high heels or wheelchair accessibility. All the hired staff on the day were great to work with and made sure all went smoothly.
Having attended many weddings, I still think hands-down Sussex Conservatory is the best! -

Beautiful Venue
As soon as I entered The Conservatory I knew this was the venue for my wedding. Incredible structure, very flexible lay out, and chairs/tables provided (which is a huge plus). We winded up getting married indoors due to the weather; another beautiful building on site. We made that decision several days prior, but you can also tell them almost last minute. Indoor or outdoor ceremony with equally as beautiful backdrops. Very accommodating. -

Susan Sent on 04/22/2018I just got married there on April 8th, and I couldn't be happier about my wedding experience. People raved about the open, airy feel. The weather was so cold so we had the ceremony in the Farm Fun Room, and it was beautiful. The bridal prep area is a little small and needed a little sprucing up, but we got some inexpensive fabric that our florist attached to the wall with a garland, and it was perfect. I stayed and prepped at the Holiday Inn Newton-Sparta (It was only 10 minutes away) and then dressed in the prep room. We ran a shuttle back and forth for the bridal party and guests. There are no steps-which was perfect for our less mobile guests. We had an afternoon wedding so we got the benefit of the bright sunny day, sunset, and the indoor lighting in the evening. Definitely consider this when discussing lighting needs/packages with your dj. Danielle was very helpful and great to work with. She made us feel like she was just as excited for us to be getting married as we were. The Conservatory requires that you work with one of three approved caterers-we went with Frungillo's. They were fabulous. People repeatedly commented on how great the food was. Dawn was our day-of manager, and she was great. And because of the relationship between the venue and the caterer, Danielle and Dawn worked seamlessly together. We did not pay the extra $1000 for the premiere day-of package, and we didn't feel for a second that we should have. They took care of everything. We went with the long rectangular tables instead of the rounds. It may cost more to rent the linens, but I thought that the look was beautiful and changed the feel of the reception. We drove around the grounds the day before to stake out some places for pictures. I highly recommend doing this as there are a lot of places that would be good for some more unique pictures besides the gazebo. In the Farm Fun Room, we hung a garland behind our officiant and brought in some plants which they placed on some cool barrels.

I will start off by saying that we looked at quite a few venues and this one was the only one I kept going back to- The interior is beautiful, as it allows natural light to come pouring in, the garden in the back has plenty of spots for photos and its gorgeous, and the grounds are very charming. We had a summer wedding-everything was gorgeous. The AC in the venue could have been a tad stronger because I found myself sweating all night, but it was tolerable. I had SO many guest compliments on the venue- everyone kept asking me how I found it. My guests all loved it, literally bragged about it all night. That being said, it is a DIY venue. Its an awesome opportunity for artists and crafters to really shine. Keep in mind if there is a wedding there the day before you cant set up until the morning of your wedding- so plan accordingly. I was a little upset about that aspect because I wanted to set some of the things I made up myself, but fortunately I had a great caterer (Andre's Lakeside Catering), and Tracy really came through and did a wonderful job.
We booked a year and a half or so in advance and at that point they only had 2 spots open for this summer. If you like this venue I would book ASAP. I heard August can be buggy and muddier because of the fair that takes place, so keep that in mind too. They have plenty of vendors that you can choose from and I found a few on my own- I went with Blooms of Elegance for my flowers and WOW, they did an amazing job. I got a photo booth company called Party Started Picture Pros and they were FANTASTIC- amazing photo quality too. My friend is an amazing and well accomplished/reputable photographer (Mike Zawadzki) and I would recommend him to everyone and our friends happen to be an outstanding wedding band (The Jersey Joint)- you won't be let down. I thought I would throw some recommendations out there in case you are interested in this venue since its a lot of leg work for couples that use the venue, but so so worth it. It was simply magical -

It was the most beautiful venue that I looked at it, and I just had to book it... even though I did foresee that it would be stressful. Like another reviewer said, be prepared to get a full-service caterer that can manage everything for you. The venue provides no event staff besides maintenance workers at your wedding, so I would also highly recommend hiring a wedding coordinator to help run things.
The Conservatory has no running water and no permanent bathrooms. The rental fee only includes the tables, chairs, and the bathroom trailer. If you book this place, try to find a caterer with all-inclusive packages (which we did), otherwise your cost of rentals will be extremely expensive.
The event manager who was my main point of contact at the venue was hard to get a hold of sometimes. She also constantly made promises that were not kept. Before we booked the venue, she said the floors would be redone prior to our wedding. Never happened. When we asked about this, she said they weren't able to finish the floors because they were building permanent bathrooms. She said that these might be ready before our wedding, but was likely just trying to appease us. When we asked about the permanent bathrooms and they still weren't finished, she told us that she would give us the upgraded bathroom trailers at no charge. On the day of the wedding, we still only had the standard trailers... no upgrade. She says what she can to please clients, but does not seem to follow through.
Like I said, I loved having my wedding here, and I thought it was worth all the stress. This might not be the case for you. But if you want a unique and beautiful venue that will truly wow your guests, The Conservatory is great, especially if you hire the right vendors to help you put it all together.
