The Charleston Yacht Club was the perfect venue for hosting our wedding! It seemed unreal to be able to find a venue in downtown Charleston that was actually affordable, who let you choose both your catering AND allowed you to provide your own alcohol (for any bride on a budget, know that this is a MASSIVE cost savings). Debbie was absolutely fabulous and soothing of any of my concerns and anxiety when wedding planning, and always welcomed me with open arms when I wanted to come in and look at the venue for décor ideas considering the flag room recently underwent renovations. We had our wedding on December 9th, so not only did we have the breathtaking Christmas tree for photo opps (not only for us, but for our guests – several guests made their photos at our wedding the highlight of their Christmas cards), but the Yacht Club also had beautiful string lights that were illuminated once the sun went down on all of the banisters overlooking the water. We wanted a winter wonderland wedding of sorts, and having our wedding at the Yacht Club allowed us to do just that. They were very lenient within reason and accommodating, and it really is an exceptional venue for the price. We were able to get some AMAZING photographs on the dock as well – and having the large sailboats in the background made it seem like our photos were taken straight out of bridal magazines. I’m so happy we decided to have our wedding at the Charleston Yacht Club. Book them – you won’t regret it! -

We are so happy that we chose Charleston Yacht Club for our wedding reception, not only because of the venue and the views, but also in large part because of Debbie. Having her help us through each step of the planning process made everything so much easier... and she is SO nice and SO patient and has the best personality. She also has something that is not so easy to come by - empathy. Even though she must have helped dozens of brides before me, she was just as invested in the outcome of the reception as I was. Knowing that she had our back and genuinely cared about us made all the difference. Our guests loved being there on the evening of and enjoyed flowing in and out of the main room and the decks. I can’t speak highly enough of CYC for both the management and the party experience. -

Margaret Sent on 07/18/2015I have been working with JR at the CYC since booking with her last fall. JR is always enthusiastic and WANTS to hear about my wedding plans. She gets so excited over even the smallest details and is quick with advice or recommendations on what other couples have done at the venue. She understands brides on a budget and is committed to great value and helping us achieve our wedding dreams. When we were on the vendor search, JR had many recommendations for people that had worked at CYC in the past, but the venue does not have a preferred or must use list of vendors, making my other vendor choices more flexible. She has answered my countless questions with a smile and is prompt to return an email. She made me feel so at ease during my first visit, helping give me that feeling of "this is the one". When the venue pricing changed for the outside deck, she split the difference with me, which was an unexpected surprise.
While neither JR nor another member of staff will be present on wedding day, she has made me fully confident in the venue staff prepping and setting up and that views will be as spectacular as I am hoping for. I would highly recommend the CYC- great value for those on a budget - incredible Charleston harbor views for a reasonable price - plus enthusiastic and helpful client service. -

We had a beautiful wedding at the Charleston Yacht Club 3/31/19. Debbie was amazing and very easy to work with. The view is gorgeous and everything we wanted. We had about 60 guests, which was perfect for the outdoor wedding and then reception inside. It felt full but not overcrowded and plenty of room to move and dance. You really can’t beat the price of this venue with all that it has to offer as far as location, view, picture opportunities, and the friendly, helpful, accommodating staff. We used Charleston Bay Gourmet for our catering there and they were AMAZING. Highly recommend them as well when choosing Charleston Yacht Club. -

Laura Sent on 07/02/2017Very affordable as far as Charleston venues, and JR was a great help along the way! We had the best time here, and the views of the water are awesome! One thing I will mention is that the linens they provide are not floor length. So this is something you may want to check into. They are lap length so we ordered our own.
Also, we provided a diagram of how we would like the area set up, and it was not followed. There were also decorations left up from the previous wedding that were not taken down that we had to deal with. The yacht club does not let you in until 12pm, which is not an issue, but it was when we had to clean up after the previous wedding and were on a tight schedule. I would definitely go with the yacht club, but be sure to double check that the venue is set up to your specifications. The brides first thought walking down the aisle should not be what mine was, "Why are there not enough chairs for everyone?!" I should have doubled checked myself but with how hectic the day was I did not even think of it; I trusted in the yacht club and was let down. So just double check their work! They also had a staff member Oliver who was very rude to my bridesmaids. If you can get past that, it is worth the money compared to other Charleston venues! Beautiful view and decently sized room!
