Best Venue and Team

If Capitol View is on your list to check out for your wedding, DO IT! We just had our reception there but you can have your entire wedding there. The view is unbelievable and especially at night time, the Capitol looks so majestic. It's a rooftop but if its chilly, the venue has many ways to accommodate and adapt to changing weather. The other amazing thing about the venue is the event coordinator, Delmy. She is absolutely fabulous and is VERY good at her job. She handles every situation with poise and takes the stress off your back. She is quick to respond to any questions and concerns. She goes above and beyond and offers suggestions for decorating, etc. if prompted. Every venue needs a Delmy!

Amazing venue, stellar service!

After 2 wedding postponements, and 1 venue change.. we were so glad and felt so lucky that we got to work with Delmy to finally host our wedding at Capitol View at 400. Wedding planning is stressful as is, but throw in the uncertainty of 2020/2021 into the mix and it was on another level. Delmy made the process as enjoyable as possible! She went above and beyond with connecting us with additional resources and was a pleasure to work with the entire time. We loved that this venue is outdoors, but comes with a tent in case of inclement weather - this is a huge value! Throw in the chairs and tables, it was so worth it. Also,...

Incredible views and an even better coordinator

When visiting potential wedding venues, we were immediately sold by Capitol View. The view is spectacular, and if that's not enough, you also get Delmy Palmer, the exceptional venue coordinator. Delmy is so personable, clearly loves working with all of her couples, and knows exactly how to reassure and calm her stressed-out brides-to-be. We did not have a day-of coordinator, but we didn't need one, because Delmy made sure everything ran seamlessly.

Back to the view--you really can't beat overlooking Union Station and the Capitol. Our guests could not stop taking pictures, and everyone told us how blown away they were. I know it was a wedding that none of our guests will ever forget. Thank you so much, Delmy and Capitol View, for helping make our special day so memorable!

Stunning views + Amazing venue management team

I cannot say enough good things about the Capitol View at 400. If the stunning Washington, DC views don't sell you, the management team (Delmy specifically) absolutely should. This space is beautiful (it really does not take a lot of extra decorations to make it stunning) and Delmy is an amazing coordinator. She goes well beyond her role of managing events at the space and served as a constant sounding board, coordinator, and even decorator for our special wedding day. We felt so much more calm and comfortable with plans knowing that Delmy was involved. Also - the views of the venue were a huge hit with our guests; it totally made the day!

When booking this venue you think you are simply reserving a location that has great views and flexible spacing options in downtown DC - BUT, the real reason to book this venue is to work with the incomparable DELMY PALMER, the venue coordinator, (also referred to as Queen Delmy by my husband and I). From the first email we sent to Delmy about seeing the space to the final pickup of materials post wedding, this woman made all the efforts and trials of planning a wedding so incredibly worth it. We did not need a wedding planner because Delmy had everything covered and under control. She is incredibly experienced with event planning and customer service and it really shows....

This venue was spectacular. If you have any doubts about booking, just book now. You and your attendees will not regret the space. The event coordinator, Delmy Palmer, proved an influential, attentive, and accommodating professional during our 14 month planning process. Delmy ensured that all of our requests could be accommodated, provided various logistical recommendations based on her expert experience and recommended vendors with matching expertise to hers. This venue offered modern accommodations and a multi-functioning space for all weather conditions. Further, it provided incredible views of notable DC landmarks, such as the Capitol Building, the Washington Monument, and Union Station. We did not need a photo booth because the rooftop views were all that we needed for friends...

Simply Perfect

I had my wedding reception at the Capitol View at 400 Rooftop in August 2018 and it was a dream come true. Working with Delmy, the venue coordinator, was incredible. She was the most responsive vendor, accommodated all of my requests, and helped to provide me with a vision for the evening, including working with my day of coordinator to setup the rooftop. The venue views are breathtaking. Even my local guests couldn’t get over the perfect view of the Capitol and Union Station – perfect back drop for pictures all night. The lower terrace is where we had cocktail hour – the space is huge and comes with high-top tables – view of the Washington Monument. The upper rooftop is where we had the reception with the views, also a very large space, comfortably fitting 150 at tables under the covered portion of the rooftop with a large dance floor. (There is room to fit much more than my guest count) I added string lights draped from the retractable rooftop and had candles on the tables; that was all the lighting I needed for the evening (7pm-12am) – my pictures came out great. I used Corcoran catering – very familiar with the space and working with Delmy (Maryana and Delmy are a great pair). I was extremely lucky with the weather so I didn’t need the AC/heat nor plastic siding but that is all included if needed. If you are looking for an affordable venue that gives the perfect DC ambience – this is it!

Excellent venue and Delmy is the best!

We could not have been happier to have booked with Capitol View at 400 for our wedding. Delmy was an absolute dream to work with. From the initial tour, walk throughs, numerous emails asking questions, the wedding day, and the clean up afterwards, she was a constant source of support and always responsive. This venue is one of a kind and Delmy makes its so easy to have your wedding day feel personalized and customized as you always dreamed it would be. You book this venue for the fresh air and spectacular rooftop views, but Delmy really makes it all happen!

Amazingly unique venue in DC w/ best onsite coordinator!

After looking at multiple venues in my home state of Michigan and my now husbands home area of the DMV, we were so relieved when we finally got to see Capitol View at 400 and meet the coordinator, Delmy.

We knew immediately this was the venue for us. First, the location is perfect, especially for couples that have a lot of people traveling in from out of town as we did. Multiple airports, train systems, hotels, etc to make traveling in easy breezy. Not to mention the venue is right across the street from Union Station, making getting around the whole DMV area very convenient.

We also knew this was our spot because of the views!...

Not to mention the venue is right across the street from Union Station, making getting around the whole DMV area very convenient.

We also knew this was our spot because of the views! Stunning views of the Capitol and Union Station make this a venue that will just make your day that much more special. You can also see the Washington Monument. My husband is a veteran and I am a lawyer, so this felt very fitting for our backgrounds.

Finally, I cannot say enough about Delmy!! She is the onsite coordinator and helped so much in getting the foundation set for our wedding. She pointed us in directions for caterers, DJs, photographers, lighting, etc. She was amazing and so supportive when we had to move our wedding back multiple times due to COVID. It was very stressful for us but each time she was super prompt in giving us available options.

With her support, we could have planned the wedding ourselves but after moving it back that many times we eventually hired a coordinator because we didn't have time to plan much than we already did (e.g. photographer, dj, caterer). But Delmy worked great with our coordinator and was there to answer any question that came up and offer feedback on different ideas, such as table seating arrangements.

We cannot say enough good things about this venue and Delmy. It was such an honor to get married here and a privilege to get to work with Delmy. Highly recommend to any couple!

Capitol View at 400 was the perfect venue for our wedding, and I can't say enough good things about the venue coordinator, Delmy. She was so on top of all the details and made us feel confident that everything would go smoothly. The view is obviously amazing, but the staff truly made it work. The rain held off for our ceremony outside on the top level, then rained while we were under the tent for the speeches. The venue staff came out immediately and zipped up the sides so guests wouldn't get wet and relocated the bars, without any disruption or people really noticing. Then after the rain stopped, they reopened the sides so people could back out and...

We got raves about the food, which Maryana's guiding hand helped me choose. We had a dinner buffet that was a wonderful alternative to a plated dinner and much less expensive while being beautifully presented. A magical evening and you can have one, too. Forgot to reassure you that the venue is year-round with an industrial-strength air conditioning system that is able to beat the D.C. heat and roll-down plastic curtains to hold-in the air conditioning (or heat!) and keep out any rain, so your day will not be ruined. We didn't hire a day of coordinator and honestly, we didn't need one with Delmy and her team on site. She ensured everything ran smoothly and checked in with me and my husband multiple times to make sure we were happy and healthy!

To put it simply, Delmy knows what she's doing and she does it so well. She brings years of experience which makes her brides at ease and focused on what's important on the wedding day!

We had a great experience at the venue – we lucked out and had the most incredible weather. All of our guests loved the space – it was a beautiful view and had a very open feeling. Delmy, the venue coordinator, did an amazing job. She was on top of everything immediately, handled our many questions, and provided great advice about the layout and logistics. She also went above and beyond, as our wedding planner was not on top of things. Delmy picked up the slack and made the day perfect. She even went out and bought something during the reception when she realized it wasn’t delivered (our wedding planner just said to tell people we didn’t have any)....

The venue is literally just a rooftop with two levels. The tented area is air conditioned (which was great for my August wedding) and it's really bare so you can really make the space your own. For me it was great, because the backdrop is what I was really looking for. You are literally a stone's throw...

The Capitol View at 400 is one of the most amazing event locations in all of DC. The venue overlooks Union Station in downtown DC. The view of the Capitol grounds and dome are breath taking. Because of the way the venue is setup, we were able to have our wedding event all in one location. The multiple level decks of the roof allowed for us to have our ceremony and cocktail hour on one level and our dinner on the top level under their beautiful covered deck.

There were 120 people at our wedding and there was plenty of room for dancing and partying all night. That being said, the space felt quite cozy and intimate...

The Capitol View at 400 is one of the most amazing event locations in all of DC. The venue overlooks Union Station in downtown DC. The view of the Capitol grounds and dome are breath taking. She was a huge help throughout the entire process. She led me to our caterer, our florist, our DJ, and helped us find a hotel block for our out of town guests. The only thing i was concerned about with this space, was how the guests would find their way around. But it all worked out! They had a person in the lobby and at the top of the stairs point people in the right direction.
The one negative, there was a bathroom that I understood to just be the wedding parties, and that didn't happen. Everyone was trying to use our bathroom. We tried putting a hand written sign on the door, but that didn't work. Luckily, nothing was taken and when i needed in, people would move out!
All in all, the view makes the space. That was all everyone was talking about. It was a hit and i have only heard positive feed back. Can't wait to go back! A friend who was at our wedding just booked it for her upcoming party! Success!!

So .. We just had our wedding there this past weekend September 12th.. It was an evening wedding from 7 til almost 1 am ...we had the space all day which was great .. We hired Davinci florists who did the centerpieces , dance floor , up lighting ,huppah,and decor.. What's great about the roof top is that's it's a blank canvas and you can make it anyway you want .. We delt with the director who's name was Delmy and she made us feel so comfortable from the very beginning .. She was amazing and so sweet and accommodating and really cared about us and our wedding. I have to say that we had an amazing magical wedding...

I have to say that we had an amazing magical wedding ... The weather that day started off really bad and it was raining off and on.. Which would of put a big damper on our wedding if it did continue .. We had about 200 people coming and we needed all the space possible .. Our prayer must have been answered because it stoped raining and the weather was absolutely perfect .. People couldn't believe the venue .. They kept saying that the views were amazing .. We were so blessed to have the perfect wedding .. The small hick ups were nothing compared to the amazing weather we had .. The dj was amazing as well .. We worked on the music for a couple months until we got it right .. We used dj Andrew Hyatt .. For the ceromony we used the lower space of the venue .. We had our ceromony at 9:30 pm and it was beautiful .. The space had 200 chivary chairs and a lot of tables and high tops .. The price of venue wasn't to bad compared to what we got .. I give the place 5 stars because your wedding is supposed to be spectacular and memorable and this venue gave it all to us.. The staff was great especially delmy.. She was accommodative and met with Us as many times prior as we wanted .. If your looking for a unique venue that everyone will admiring for months to come this is it .. A Rooftop wedding...can't bet that in my opinion. What makes a wedding besides the food is location and its scenery, the capital view rooftop has an amazing view of Washington, DC, the building is practically righting next to Capitol Hill building and across from Union station. My guest were amazed how beautiful the scenery was and nothing but showers of great compliments. Definitely, a way to make an impression. Delmy, the event coordinator, was very sweet and accommodating to me. My photographer was overwhelmed by all the great shots it was capturing no matter where you stood. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to do an event and leave a memory, we got married over a month ago and family and friends still talk about how gorgeous the wedding was.

We picked the venue for the view, and it did not disappoint! Delmy and her team were great throughout our planning process, they always had vendor recommendations and quickly answered any questions I had. They worked well with the month-of coordinators we ended up hiring, and with our catering team. It rained on our wedding day, but Delmy and her team made it so we could still enjoy the view on the roof throughout the night. And once they rain let up they opened up the roof so we could enjoy the fresh air and get the inside-outside vibe we wanted. They took care of everything behind the scenes, letting my groom and I relax and enjoy the day!

The space was perfect for our 145 guests, with plenty of room for a dance floor and ample mingling room on the outer terraces. The whole place is just gorgeous. In addition, Delmy Palmer, the events coordinator was very sweet and responsive.

The experience of working with the Capitol View Rooftop however, was far less satisfying. My planner dealt with these issues on our behalf, but the venue owners made things very difficult. When we booked the venue, we were told that we could use...

When we booked the venue, we were told that we could use a caterer that was not on their approved list, as long as they were approved, and that we could provide our own alcohol for the caterer to serve. My now husband is a brewer, so providing our own beer from his brewery was non negotiable for us and we chose the venue in large part because we were told this wouldn't be an issue. About 2 months before the wedding we start having problems. I don't know all the details, but the venue decided that to limit their liability, they would no longer be allowing non-preferred caterers nor outside alcohol. After weeks of negotiation, the only solution the Capitol View would agree to is that we hired 2 bartenders from one of their preferred caterers with a liquor license and had to pay an additional $1300 (because they charged us a corkage fee) that we hadn't expected to pay. Additionally, the venue decided that open-flamed sternos wouldn't be allowed, so our buffet had to be switched to a plated meal at the last minute. Thankfully, my caterer accommodated this at no cost, but I was unable to ask my guests their food preferences, which meant everyone had to eat the same thing.

TL;DR: If you're fine with using one of their preferred caterers and with that caterer providing the alcohol, you'll probably be fine. The view alone is breathtakingly worth it!
