We had a great wedding at The Barn in late June. The benefit of The Barn is that the owners are pretty flexible. You have the venue the entire weekend, Friday to noon on Sunday, which is great for a DIY wedding. Outside vendors do not have to be approved (which makes the entire process easier), and the place really is a beautiful rustic venue for a wedding. They have tables and chairs so those did not have to be brought from an outside vendor; they have an ice machine and kitchen. Two bathrooms, one for ladies and the other for gentlemen. I found that sufficient for our approximately 120 guests. The owner is quite friendly. I spent a lot of time asking questions trying to figure out how best to execute my ideas at the space. On Sunday, you have until noon to clean up the things you brought to the venue.

I've lived in the area for many years but never attended an event at The Barn...was invited to a beautiful wedding over the weekend. Lovely location and we had a great time.

To everyone out there planning a wedding in the Central NY area looking for a country setting in a barn! We had a very good experience here!!

We had ours at The Barn in Tioga County and we were so happy that we did. Had the place for the weekend so there was no rushing our guests in and out......we even had a few that brought their campers and stayed right on the property. We were able to have our ceremony and reception right there which also made it much easier for out of town guests. The owner was great to work with. He helped with several questions and advice along the way.

Beautiful place, good value and a lot of flexibility to do things our way!

I had an amazing Fall wedding here.....Our whole group LOVED the place. We have several friends looking for a venue and we will definitely recommend The Barn!

We looked at several barn type venues.....the pricing was over the top! Most didn't offer tables and chairs or even bathrooms!! The Barn was a great choice for us! the pricing was VERY reasonable compared to other locations and just as beautiful! The place is very well maintained inside and out. We were able to work with all of the vendors (caterer, DJ, etc.) that we chose to use which is almost impossible to find in a wedding venue. It's set up so that you have the place for the weekend to allow time for setting-up and decorating...a big difference from being rushed in and out in a specific number of hours. Everything you need and a beautiful location for any style of wedding but especially for those who would like a "do it yourself" venue and don't want to fall into the expensive little traps that come with a lot of wedding locations! We arranged a last minute wedding at The Barn for my daughter after her original venue fell through this Summer. With 150 guests invited, this was obviously a very stressful situation for my entire family. The Barn was originally our first choice, but with all the other expenses associated with a wedding, we opted for a less expensive venue....bad choice on our part. Luckily, the owner had an opening on a Sunday for us. He was very flexible with our payment and gave us the opportunity to pay in a couple of installments given our situation. Following the wedding on Saturday, he cleaned up the venue overnight and made sure that it was available to us first thing on Sunday morning for my daughter's wedding. The wedding was wonderful and everything turned out great largely in part to the flexibility and help from Phil, the owner. He made a very last minute situation much easier and made it seem almost simple.....probably since he does a wedding every weekend! I really appreciated his help with it all. I post this not only in appreciation but in response to some of the rude nonsense in other reviews on this site. I would be highly skeptical of such lop-sided critical reviews as I experienced nothing but positive. Our group had a great time and I would highly recommend The Barn.

I attended a wedding here for a family member and I was very impressed! The Barn is beautiful venue and everyone had a great time! Our family would highly recommend such a nice spot for any wedding or event!

I attended a family wedding at The Barn and was very impressed with the place. It was very nicely landscaped and the interior was beautiful.....the chandeliers really make the place! It was a lot of fun in a very relaxed atmosphere. Everyone that I spoke to was very impressed. Being from the Washington DC area, I had never been to such a venue....a great experience for our entire family and worth the trip.

We found this location only by word of mouth. It is very unique for the area, well taken care of with a beautifully manicured and landscaped area for the ceremony. We were given full access for friday, saturday and sunday allowing us to set up and clean up at our leisure. The location also has a prep kitchen, built in bar area and you are able to bring in your own food and alcohol for cocktail hour and the reception. The website pictures are great and it's definitely it's definitely worth visiting to see!

My wife and I hosted an engagement party at The Barn last October. We were impressed with the location and the flexibility in planning our event. We searched several spaces and found The Barn to be the most unique and cost effective. The owner helped us source a caterer and bartenders.

My daughter attends Cornell and had been there for a Spring Formal that she planned for her sorority. It was her positive experience that initially had us look at the place and we're glad that we did!

Great place for a rustic barn event......actually the only place that I've ever seen in this area.

Very economic with a lot of control over what we wanted for our day!!

Loved it and so did our guests!!

So we stumbled upon The Barn as a possible wedding location last Spring by accident and I'm so glad that we did! We had our wedding there last week and I'm actually catching up on some emails this week while I lay here by the pool on my honeymoon!!

I was really drawn to this place because it was beautiful, authentic and economical.....the Fingerlakes region is a pretty pricey place when it comes to weddings! Where else can you go in the area where you can have the venue for as long as you like as well as your ceremony for one flat rate??.....you also get to provide your food and beverages in any manner that you see fit! You get to choose who you work with for flowers, cake, music.....no restrictions!

The weather was perfect for us and as I said, the place is so rustic and charming! There was no rushing through the reception and we partied late into the evening......so much fun! My guests were wowed by the place......the high ceilings and twinkling lights. Many commented that it was the most enjoyable wedding that they had been to!

Definitely a place to check out if you're planning a wedding in NY.....many thanks for one of my most memorable days!!

Easy communication via phone and email, easy access to set up.

All in all Beautiful venue but we did run into a few problems...

the venue was blisteringly hot on our wedding day, many of our guests left as they were unable to handle the heat

we had candy decorations set out the night before that had to be thrown away because of mice/vermin droppings

Very beautiful venue. We walked in a fell in Love with the chandeliers! Great location choice for someone that wants to have a lot of control over what is happening - decor, food, etc. Nice space, inside and out! Having the location for the whole weekend is a real plus in terms of having time to set up and clean up without feeling rushed.

The facility is beautiful and Phil (the owner) was pretty helpful along the way. It is perfect for the bride and groom who want a country wedding! The location is close to the Ithaca and Binghamton area. Their website is www.thebarnparty.com .

Beautiful place and endless opportunities for decorating! The outside and inside space is gorgeous! However, the owner gave us a tough time with our deposit. Thankfully I had my wedding coordinator to help take care of the situation/give me advice/check over the place. The deposit was given to us that same day with her being there. Be cautious when it comes to your deposit refund.

I had my wedding there Oct 1 2016. The owner was very responsive up until the wedding. I called him the day after when we were cleaning up to make sure we knew where to put the garbage. We swept and left the place spotless! I have emailed, called and left dozens of messages and even wrote him letters and to this day (7/10/2017) He has not responded or sent me back my deposit. He is a scammer and a thief. DO NOT have your wedding there unless you have $250 you don't care about getting back

I have a full review on a board about this venue in wedding bee. I encourage you to go check that site out...it should pop up in a Google search "the barn party ithaca reviews" long story short don't do it. Listen to what the other brides are telling you. The owner is very unprofessional. If I don't hear back from him soon I will be taking him to court.

Although this wasn't a wedding, I wanted to make my story known so others wouldn't fall victim to this man's thievery.
We organized a university party at this venue in May. The organization with the owner was simple up until the event. Before the event, we were told we could set up at noon. We called the owner because we had some questions and he was surprised that we had arrived and told us that we had not let him know we would be setting up at that time. However, he continued to let us set up, so it was not a big deal.
We had hired buses to transport the guests to the event. The first guests arrived in their own vehicle, and the owner immediately told us that they had to leave, as the contract indicated that no guests could arrive in their own vehicles. We were confused, as this was the first time we heard of this, but complied and told the guests to relocate the car. Throughout the night, a few (between four and five) more people arrived in personal vehicles, and we told them to remove their cars from the property. They all did.
At the end of the event, after helping clean trash and spilled drinks throughout the night, we asked the owner if we needed to return the next day to clean up. He said we did not as there was not anything else to clean. There were no damages to the property.
A few weeks later, we had still not received the security deposit back. We attempted to contact him and did not hear back for two weeks, until he wrote back saying that we had broken the contract by having people arrive in their personal vehicles. We reviewed the contract we signed, and NO WHERE did it say anything about people not being able to arrive in their own cars. In fact, online his venue is listed as having ample parking. We wrote back, asking for a copy of the contract with our signatures three weeks ago and have followed up three more times, and still no reply. We are looking to pursue legal action.

I am so disappointed in this venue and I really hope my review will save other brides from experiencing what I, and other past brides, have gone through.

I'll start by saying the venue is absolutely stunning, the barn has a warm rustic feel with the old wood and lit chandeliers. However the owner was so awful to deal with in the final months and after the wedding that I wouldn't recommend this venue to anyone.... here's why.

Over the year of planning he was very helpful, always answered my phone calls and helped with any questions. I had read reviews that as soon as he got the final payment he stopped being helpful, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt because of course, there are two sides to every story (and brides can be crazy! gasp). So we booked it.

We had planned to use 2 of his bartenders at $100 a piece plus tips- he let both of them leave early and bartended himself, half the time he wasn’t behind the bar and my guests were pouring their own drinks.

We also agreed that he would set up tables and chairs for us, confirmed over email and phone- I walked in Friday morning to an empty barn and a ton of unplanned work for us.

Those are both just small instances, I know.

I had also read in reviews that he had issues giving the $250 deposit back, finding reasons around the barn why it shouldn't be returned. I cleaned the barn and made sure there was NOTHING that would leave my deposit to be unreturned.

4 weeks after the wedding and 2 emails later and still no reply or deposit. Finally I got a lengthy email from the owner saying the music's van tore up the lawn and the pots were broken which was false! I watched them dolly the equipment from the road.

I asked for receipts and picture evidence and he claimed I was the wrong recipient for that email. I posted a similar review to this one on a different wedding site and had MORE brides claiming the SAME thing happened.

I hope this helps other brides, it's very unfortunate.
