It was a pleasure working with jim. We loved his personality and we really clicked with him. Our original date was 9/12/2020. But due to covid we had to pick the new date of 5/8/2021. When it was about 4 months prior to our original date Jim was very easy to work with his said If you want to postpone the wedding it was all good and when we were ready to pick our new date and don’t rush. He said Whenever we were ready , we were ready. So we picked Mother’s Day weekend so it be something special for our moms to watch us get married (even though we really legally still got married 9/12/2020) fast forward to our special day.
Jim made everything perfect. Even our guest were blown away. We actually didn’t do a night time wedding. We did a champagne brunch wedding which I highly recommend. It’s basically almost the same as the night time with some changes but half the price! My husband and I love brunches and when I first seen this venue I love the vintage feel of it and when I see the brunch buffet I knew that’s what we would want. We absolutely loved our wedding and Jim is the best and knows what he is doing.

From the front you wouldn’t think it’s a venue but when you come in the back entrance that’s where the magic begins. Our ceremony room was perfect the vibe in there is just amazing the. Next door was the ball room were the cocktail and brunch was which is a gorgeous room. This place is a gem and I’m glad I came across it about 3 years ago when my mom and I always went to breakfast at the metropolitan cafe and we always wondered what the American hotel was. And that first step in there and I fell in love and it was the first venue I seen and the only one because I knew this is where I wanted my wedding! Thank again again Jim for everything !❤️

Our wedding took place on December 7, 2019, at the American Hotel. Joy & Jim were extremely professional, accommodating, helpful and attentive throughout the entire planning process. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect! The ceremony was beautiful, the reception was a blast- and everything went off without a hitch! We booked an appointment to look at the American Hotel for our venue about two weeks after getting engaged. We met with Joy and she was so welcoming, informative, and not pushy at all. We immediately felt comfortable with her and knew this was where we would have our wedding. We came back with our parents shortly thereafter, had dinner at the Market Yard Grille and were blown away by how wonderful the food was. Joy and Jim arranged for us to do a menu tasting along with four guests. We were set up in a private room, provided a full bar, and family style dishes. Everything was phenomenal! Every question we had was answered promptly- every request was fulfilled- and the day of our wedding I knew I had absolutely nothing to worry about. We cannot thank Jim & Joy enough for making our special day PERFECT! We would highly recommend the American Hotel for a wedding!

In addition, the entire staff was amazing. Pat at the front desk was a doll, the waiters and waitresses were great, bartenders had everyone's drinks down and kept them coming- we could not have asked for a better day!

My husband and I got married in March 2019. When we first started researching wedding venues, we were looking for three big elements: a large dance floor, great food and an adequate number of bathroom stalls! We ended up looking at about eight venues before booking in March 2018. From the moment you walk into a venue, you do get a feeling of how a wedding would play out; and when we walked into The American Hotel, we knew we had found the perfect place. We first met with Joy and she showed us around the various ballrooms and the hotel rooms upstairs. The following Sunday, we went to the brunch buffet to try the food before booking – but when we sat down in the Majestic Ballroom, with its’ gold interior and beautiful crystal chandeliers, we knew this place was totally us! We ended up using all of the three rooms for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception; and reserved all of the available hotel rooms for our family and friends. After booking, Joy and Jim were basically my wedding gurus. I always ask a lot of questions and I think I broke a new record when it came to wedding planning. Thankfully, Jim and Joy really knew how to handle an anxious bride-to-be - they are true professionals and excel in the wedding industry! I can honestly say that if anything did go wrong at our wedding – we had absolutely no clue. Everything was beautiful and exactly the way it was discussed in the many emails and meetings. And, all of the supporting staff members that helped during our wedding did a great job! We really cannot thank Jim and Joy enough for all that they did in making our wedding unforgettable!

My husband & I got married here on September 27 2019. From the first meeting with Joy we knew we picked the right place . We we’re having a wedding on the smaller side & were a little nervous that we may not have been able to find a place. The first meeting with Joy she reassured us they would be able to accommodate us without a problem. Throughout the year & half of planning Joy was an absolute pleasure to work with. She always got back to emails & phone calls. The things I wasn’t sure she made sure to explain it through & set up any appointments . We also worked with Jim for our wedding & we couldn’t have asked for anyone better . We first met him at our tasting which we were blown away with how much we were able to preview that day. The week before when I sat with him & went over the floor plan he took the time to go over timelines & every possible option . On the day of our wedding he was there to help with every detail from helping set up the tables to the exact layout we wanted to calming my nerves before the ceremony as I was starting to feel overwhelmed he was my right hand man. I wish we could go back & do our wedding all over again because we loved every minute of it. I recommend everyone to look at the American Hotel for any event you may be having. The staff is incredible, the food was absolutely delicious.

1) VENUE/FOOD: What an amazing venue American Hotel is! The ballrooms for were the perfect size for our son & daughter-in-law's 180 guest wedding. It was not tight or empty looking. It was just wonderful. The guests raved about the cocktail hour & all the different stations that were offered. The outdoor patio was open to us during the Venetian /Dessert Hour and the day/night was beautiful so we enjoyed it. The service we received was flawless. All the wait-staff was attentive and courteous. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how well they were treated & how delicious the food was.
2) The Maitre'd Jim was amazing. He kept me, mother of the groom, calm & was very reassuring about our collective vision & details being taken care of. He made the place run very very smoothly. Jim was very in tune with everything that evening, & kept the night moving at a nice comfortable pace for our guests, & especially the bride & groom. 2b) Vendors: we had a cigar bar during the dessert hour in the smaller ballroom & out on the patio, & it seemed like they have been working together for years, because they were so welcoming to our vendor!
3) Joy, the Event Sales Mgr - worked tirelessly to make the couple's dream wedding come true. She was very very responsive to our needs. She kept everyone in the loop & reassured me that everything would be perfect – and it was! She was very instrumental in coordinating all the vendors, without having to bother the bride/groom. Joy was very helpful & a pleasure to work with.
4) The HOTEL: We were blessed to have both families staying at the American Hotel -- all 20 rooms (including the bride/groom). What a pleasure it was to work with everyone at the front desk. From my favorite person, Liz, she had me updated with who was staying, what rooms were checked in, etc. Most of the family stayed 2 nights. The rooms are SUPER SUPER clean and comfortable! Totally updated yet had the vintage feel. The hotel was rocking in the evening, & the outdoor seating/tables were so much fun. At the front desk, Liz, Cindy, Norma, & all the staff at the front were awesome! With so many family members all wanting to know where everyone was, these ladies were patient, considerate, helpful & always happy to help! WE thank them all from the bottom of our hearts. 4b) The Lobby Bar & grille staff were amazing. The nightlife was fun, energetic, & exciting. All our guests said they would come back to Freehold & stay at the American, because they never knew how much fun & inviting it was!
5) Housekeeping: You can’t find a nicer bunch of ladies…..having 20 rooms with multiple families, made it great for us, most of the times we kept the doors open like one big family and come & go between rooms without a problem. The housekeepers were very patient with us and did a fabulous job keeping the place looking great -- especially the two that took care of the bridal suite. They scattered rose petals on the bed & bathroom f their suite and made it very romantic. This special service is something you might not get at a chain hotel.
RECAPT: All in all, every single one of our guests was thrilled with every aspect of the cocktail hour, reception, Viennese /cigar hour, after party at the lobby lounge/bar, & the Farewell breakfast the next morning. Our two families came together to celebrate our children’s marriage & could not have asked for a more beautiful and welcoming place. We are grateful to all those who made this day / weekend so memorable! We honestly didn’t have much to worry about, except getting to the Church on time! THANKS again for a super job well done!
We hope to visit your beautiful establishment, American Hotel again in the near future. Your team certainly makes this hotel feel more like a home and it was just PERFECT for our families to come together & get to know each other and create new friendships and memories. We had our wedding ceremony and reception here, and everything went perfectly. Joy was an amazing resource for the months leading up to the wedding. On our wedding day, Jim kept us organized and on time. Our guests loved the food and the day was perfect!

We can't say enough good things about The American Hotel! Everyone loved the food and three beautiful rooms. Everything ran smoothly and on time. We would highly recommend this venue for your wedding.

Joy and Jim were a great team every step of the way! From the intial tour of the venue down to the day after the wedding, the whole experience was smooth, happy and easy! They took all of the stress out of wedding planning and really truly made us feel like they not only were the best at their job, but that they were doing all of this just for us! All we had to do is give them vendor info, and drop off our centerpieces and wedding items and then Jim took my vision and turned it into the most beautiful room I’d ever seen. Every expectation was exceeded! Wish we could have a reception like that every weekend now!

One of the Best places for a Wedding, A+++ service and Great Atmosphere

We did not have our reception here, but we did stay here on our wedding night with ALL of our friends. We had almost the entire hotel booked, and it was a blast. The service was wonderful, they put all of the welcome bags I made in each hotel room before our guests arrived. The rooms were great and everyone had nice things to say about their stay. The bar was open after our reception and we had a great time continuing the celebration here. After the bar was closing, since it was summer and a beautiful night - we spent the rest of the evening on their beautiful outside patio. This was a great choice for our guests!

I cannot say enough good things about the American Hotel. I just got married there and Joy and Jim are the most wonderful people to deal with. Always pleasant and accommodating. Our wedding day went off perfectly. Everyone loved the food and the service was impeccable. I am still getting fantastic feed back from my guests. No one wanted to leave, they had such a great time. I highly recommend the American Hotel for any event!

The American Hotel is a boutique hotel with a great vibe. The staff was fantastic. Jim and Joy made everything so easy. The space was great, food was great and the staff was top notch. Loved loved loved it!

The venue was PERFECT! The staff was all very nice and accommodating. Joy was always so friendly to work with and helpful and Jim was phenomenal! He not only did everything he could to make our day extra perfect but he was also so kind and accommodating to my handicapped uncle, which meant so much. All our guests also have been saying how beautiful the venue was and how great and fun our wedding was. Thank you soo much to everyone at the American Hotel!!

From the minute we saw this place it just had a charm about it that we knew we wanted for our wedding day. Joy and Jim couldn't have been more amazing throughout the planning and wedding. They were quick to respond and answer questions and were accommodating to our schedules. The food was out of this world and people are still talking about the food and venue! Our wedding was such a hit because of the place and people working there!

We had the wedding that we wanted with the fabulous guidance and direction from Joy and Jim. Every detail was followed up, food was superb and as the bride I didn't have one worry!!

Joy and Jim made my wedding day absolutely flawless and they were a pleasure to work with! My husband and I picked the American Hotel for two main reasons, the fact that it was a hotel and also a full service restaurant. My theory is that the food is better at a wedding when the kitchen has a restaurant, so I know the food is fresh and cooked to order. Well I couldn't have been more spot on. The food was unbelievable. I received so many compliments on the cocktail hour, and the reception food. The fact that we were able to go to the bar after the wedding, and then just walk upstairs to our rooms made the entire night so much more fun! If I could do it all again, I would still have my reception at The American Hotel. The service, food and accommodations were first class!

My husband and I had our brunch wedding reception at the American Hotel May 20, 2017. We had a vintage (1950's) themed wedding with *lots* of DIY (my husband and I made all the centerpieces, bouquets, cake topper, place settings, remembrance display, and favors). Joy was a pleasure to work with, she helped us arrange our many DIY pieces and Jim helped to design a beautiful layout. We weren't sure exactly how it would all come together but when we walked in after the ceremony, the space looked magnificent - it captured our theme better than we had hoped it would. Jim & Joy took care of last minute hick ups (including but not limitef to my parents inviting some last minute guests confusing the seating) & worked with us (while we were planning the wedding from across the country) to make our day one we won't soon forget! The food was fantastic and everyone had a lovely time. We were treated with respect and genuine care, I would highly recommend this venue!! Not only is it beautiful and the people fantastic, but the best part was they were able to work within our budget and honestly they went far beyond what I'd expect from any venue.

We took a look at several venues before choosing The American and we're so glad we did.

Both Joy and Jim (he's hilarious!) were stellar in both the planning stages of our wedding and the execution. Our guests were stunned by the how beautiful the venue was but mostly by the exceptional food! Wow, the spread was incredible, delicious, and there was A LOT of it! Guests are still raving about it a month later!

Every part of our wedding went off without a hitch except for one detail but the staff went above and beyond to make it right.

It was also great to have the hotel rooms within this venue so that guests wouldn't have to drive after the reception if they didn't want to. Rooms are great. We loved the bridal suite.

Highly recommended!

Amazing service for our wedding!

I got married at the American Hotel yesterday and everything was PERFECT! This is such a beautiful and unique venue. The chandeliers, fireplaces, and decor make the hotel feel so elegant and classic. The banquet manager Joy and maitre de Jim made wedding planning pleasant and stress-free. The day of the wedding, they made sure my husband and I were happy and fed all night. They worked well with my other vendors (dj, photographer, florist) to make sure that everything went smoothly from start to finish. I highly recommend this venue to anyone who wants to get married at a boutique hotel. We were able to move the party to the hotel bar after the reception, which stays open until almost 2am. We were then able to go right upstairs to go to bed, instead of having to take a shuttle or drive home. The hotel rooms all look brand new and they were spotless. The hotel also serves continental breakfast in the morning, so it was nice to spend a little extra time with my guests before leaving in the morning. I wouldn't have changed a thing about my wedding at the American Hotel. We plan on going back for our anniversary!

Everything at the American Hotel is top notch. The wedding planners and staff are exceptional . They are phenomenal in every aspect of a wedding venue from planning to celebrating. I can't say enough good things about the entire staff. If you are thinking about having an event here don't hesitate it will be awesome!!! Thank you to everyone.

Planning a wedding can be a very overwhelming experience, however, once we booked our date with The American Hotel, it got much easier! My husband and I found this little gem in Freehold for dinner one night for our dating anniversary, and the rest is history! We were shocked at the value of this venue, and were very pleased with the quality of our event. It was literally the best night of our lives! Joy was great and so helpful with all of my questions with planning, and Jim really did an amazing job pulling everything together the day of. I would highly recommend The American Hotel for any event!

Finding the right venue can be hard, and sometimes you know immediately, that was the feeling we had when walking into The American Hotel, we knew this was the right place. From their Lobby to the rooms it was perfect, there is a certain ambiance when you walk into this building that is hard to miss. We wanted to have a small intimate classy wedding and this place had everything we needed. Joy and Jim put together a memorable event that guest are still talking about. The cocktail hour was incredible, our friends and family have comment on how good the food was, and the staff were all attentive and provided a first class level of service that's hard to match, looking back on our day we would not change a thing. Any couple looking for first class service, incredible food that your guest can't stop talking about, then this is your place, Joy and Jim will make your wedding one to remember, and the ambiance of a New Orleans hotel in downtown Freehold make for great photos opts. I can't say anything negative about the american hotel! It was our dream venue and more than we could have imagined!!! Joy was fantastic and helped us with every step! Jim was always by my side the day of and when I needed him he was there! He kept it running on time and even helped when I got sick during the reception. My husband had a special meal during the reception and we even had special meals for our guest. He worked with all our crazy quirks and I couldn't recommend a better venue to anyone!!!

We could not be more happy with our decision to have our wedding at the American Hotel! Joy and Jim were fantastic to work with!! Joy helped select and narrow down every detail about the wedding. Come the big day, everything ran smoothly thanks to Jim, our matre d, and he quickly dealt with any unexpected issues so we didn’t have to worry about anything! They both provided personal attention to our event every step along the way, from planning and opinions on food options to every detail throughout the day.

In addition to having our reception in the gorgeous Lennox and Majestic ballrooms, we held the ceremony in Royale ballroom, which provided an intimate yet comfortable space for our 115 guests. We loved the simplicity of having all the events in the same location, and each part of the night easily flowed from one room to the next. On top of everything else good to say, the food is delicious (make sure you get the guacamole cones)!

If you are considering the American Hotel for your wedding (or any other event), look no further!!

I could not be happier with The American Hotel. They made my wedding day dreams come true. Everything was beautiful and even almost a week later it is all my family and friends are talking about. Joy and Jim are extremely accommodating. I felt like I was dealing with family when I spoke with them. In addition, The American Hotel was very affordable. I plan on having several events at the hotel in the future.

My husband and I fell in love with The American Hotel for our winter wedding because the ceremony and reception rooms were both beautiful and had big fireplaces. Getting married in winter made it hard to find venues with pretty ceremony rooms, but American Hotel made our ceremony beautiful! We got married in front of the fireplace with rose petals in the isle and candles all over the mantle, it was very romantic. Then the reception room was even more gorgeous! All of my guests were coming up to me telling me how beautiful everything was! Jim and Joy were awesome And a pleasure to work with, We planned the whole wedding in 6 months and they made that possible. We couldn't be happier with how our day turned out! Highly reccomend The American Hotel!

Our daughter's wedding was at the American Hotel on November 14, 2015 and we want to express our sincere thank you to Joy, Jim and the entire staff. The reception was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. We all know a lot of planning and decisions need to be made far in advance and both Jim and Joy were a pleasure to work with. There is not one detail that they did not help us with or take care of. Due to their professionalism, attention to detail and sincere caring attitude, our family had a magical day. We can’t thank them enough.

We had our wedding at the American Hotel on 9/6/15. When I first came to the hotel for a visit, I was very impressed with the entire venue and also with Joy.Joy never gave me the feeling that she was trying to be a sales person or sell us.She was genuinely just a nice person,honest,responsive,&knowledgable. She made us feel like family from the beginning. Everything from the meetings, to the food tasting (which was perfectly orchestrated) went off without a hitch. Jim was also super helpful and nice. Jim and Joy are a really great team and they know what they are doing. Fast forward to the week of the wedding- we had a death in the family days before our wedding and they were nothing but accommodating for us which was a breath of fresh air. When we got to the hotel, Jim had arranged for some cocktail hour food to be sent up to our hotel room so we could eat before going downstairs and greeting guests. The food was amazing (several guests raved) , the cocktail hour was perfect and we planned on attending but wound up missing most of it so Jim extended it a little longer so we could enjoy it and mingle before starting the reception.Jim always made sure we had drinks in our hand, and their waiters were extremely attentive to our guests.Our guests told us that they checked on them all night to see if they could get them drinks from the bar throughout the night.The bartenders were so friendly and kind to our guests as well, the food was hot( and delicious- we had the chicken florentine, prime rib,& flounder with crab) &came out promptly.The whole evening went off without a hitch.We seriously could not have asked for a better location to have our wedding day.We just wanted to say thank you to the entire staff for making our wedding a TRULEY unforgettable night.If the wedding is any indication of our marriage, I think we will be in good shape.Thank you

My husband and I got married on August 8th. We had our reception at the American Hotel and it was the best decision. Joy and Jim were absolutely amazing to work with and made our day perfect. I couldn't have asked for anything more when picking a location to start our lives together.

Everything about the American Hotel my husband and I loved! The location, the food, the atmosphere, the rooms and of course the workers were all fabulous! We recently were married this past April and once we saw the American Hotel we knew this was the place to celebrate our wedding. My husband and I are very much into vintage things and the 1950's; we wanted to portray that theme for our wedding; Jim and Joy were extremely helpful and accommodating to everything we wanted. Joy answered all of my emails; even the little things that I would over think she would help me to relax and enjoy the whole process. Jim was fantastic too! During the cocktail hour/reception he made sure I always had a drink whether it was a cocktail or a glass of water, anything I needed, he was there. My husband and I didn't have the chance to eat much; Jim had our food wrapped up so we could take it home the next day. It's been almost two months since our wedding and people are still raving about the food and how wonderful the hall/hotel was. I would highly recommend this place to anymore who's getting married! It can be a little pricey but it's worth it!! Love this place!!

Everything was perfect. Both Joy and Jim were amazing during the entire process. Both were so nice and so responsive and really made the event planning process easy and enjoyable for me. Everything worked out perfectly for my party and everyone that came had a great time. The party was an overall success. I would definitely recommend them to friends.

There are no words to describe the amazing time we had at this venue. They were amazing group to work with and made sure that everything went as smoothly as possible. Jim and Joy have been an absolute pleasure to work with on our wedding on March 14, 2015. We've had many opportunities to meet with Jim and Joy to discuss the various details throughout the planning process and provided great examples and ideas, making our day that much more special.

The American Hotel was our best choice for venue for many reasons: 1) The facility is very well-kept and the ballrooms were stunning in appearance; 2) The food selection and quality was mind-blowing; and 3) the entire staff throughout the night were friendly and extremely receptive to everyone's needs. Jim and Joy managed to make our wedding feel stress-free.

We look forward to potentially having additional events at the American Hotel or attending in-house events. The American Hotel went above and beyond in making our wedding day special.

The venue was very accommodating. They allowed us to create our own vision. All our requests were met. The food was excellent. Service terrific. Looking back, we would not have changed a thing.

We had our rehearsal dinner at the American Hotel and it was fantastic! From the minute we started working with Joy, we were extremely impressed by her helpfulness and responsiveness. She even let us come there the week before to test the equipment we would be using to present a slideshow we had made for the event. My husband's parents hosted the dinner and could not say enough about how great Joy and the staff were throughout the planning process! At the rehearsal dinner, the staff was so accommodating and attentive! The food was delicious and we received so many compliments! Thank you Joy and the American Hotel staff!!

Everything was perfect! Jim and Joy were absolutely wonderful to work with. The room looked gorgeous and Jim had everything running smoothly. Everything was better than I could have imagined. I'm very grateful for a perfect wedding.

We checked out a lot of places for our wedding and settled on the American Hotel. Loved the renovations that make the old world feel come to life in an elegant way, and Joy and Jim were a pleasure to work with right off the bat. They truly made the ENTIRE process before the big weekend seem effortless and came up with good suggestions when we weren’t sure which to go. The price was all inclusive and devoid of any cheap gimmicks or hidden fees. We also had our rehearsal dinner there, and I would remiss if I didn’t mention that the food that night was a bit off – however, things happen, and the reaction from Jim and the staff was great. They made up for it that night and even added some nice touches for the next day. I was mostly concerned with having a great wedding, and that it WAS. The entire day was full of little details that were taken care of by Jim and the staff. Pedro was a star both nights (rehearsal and wedding), and again I just can’t say enough about Jim and Joy. The food was delicious; the atmosphere great, and a grand time was had by all. They took care of our family and understood our crowd. I will say this – if you stay at the hotel, the bar does play music that you can hear in almost every room in the hotel until 2 AM. Aside from that, which wasn’t a huge concern as it’s not blasting, the rooms were perfect. Again, what really mattered was the wedding and that is a 5 star experience, a perfect evening. All in all, highly recommended, and we will definitely be going back to the restaurant for dinner and back for any other events we may host.

I must start out by saying I am a very planned, organized, and detail oriented person. I have no complaints for their entire process leading up to and for the event. Joy and Jim at the American Hotel Banquet area exceeded all expectations, which were high, in every category. The effortlessness of the event was 100% due to the integrity and professionalism they had towards making the event special and one in a lifetime. The first moment we met with Jim and discussed our event based upon information Joy had provided, we knew this was the place after evaluating numerous alternate venues. Our guests had comments such as "nice and elegant", "one of the best receptions", "first class", "food was amazing", "I cleaned my plate", and "you guys have outdone yourself again". Comments like these and others were due to the staff for our Reception, Nicole was amazing, Pedro, Eric and Carol went out of their way to ensure guests had what they needed. These are just a few, their entire staff was there to support our event and make it flawless. I had my daughters bat mitzvah ceremony and party at the American Hotel and the whole night was perfect. They made planning easy and were very accommodating. American Hotel is a spectacular venue to hold your event at. We had our son Matthew's bar mitzvah there in December 2013 and from start to finish the night was an event to treasure and remember. The food was amazing and plentiful from the cocktail hour for the kids and adults to the sit down dinner for the adults and teen buffet for the kids and was completed by a stunning display of desserts anyone would die for! We utilized all three ballrooms for our party and we are so happy that we took advantage of all the resources American Hotel had to offer. The ball rooms (especially the main ballroom and we had the fireplace going) were intimate and beautiful and our friends have not stopped raving about what a great venue American Hotel is and that we definitely need to have our daughters' bat mitzvah there! The staff was superior and working with Jim and Joy, the banquet coordinators, was a dream. They were both so easy to work with from the moment we signed our contract to the end details of the night. They helped to ease our stress and they made the night run so smooth and truly allowed us to enjoy and treasure every moment of the night. Our son has not stopped thanking us for giving him a night he will always remember. Thank you American Hotel for making our family's dream a reality! There is no question you need to have your party, whatever it may be, at the American Hotel!

Words cannot express our gratitude to the staff of American Hotel. From planning with Joy to the execution by Jim and the loose ends tied by the wait and kitchen staff, our day went flawlessly. You truly get far more than you paid for, not only in food quality and gorgeous atmosphere, but personalized attention. My husband and I designed the décor ourselves and were concerned that our vision wouldn’t be brought to life the way we imagined it. Boy, were we wrong! Not only was everything to our plan, but beyond! Jim brought us into the reception room before everyone else, and I was brought to tears. Seeing everything you worked for and hoped for come to life removes the weight of the world! Throughout the evening, Jim was right there making sure everything was on schedule and to our liking. When the night was over, the staff broke down and repacked every single item that we had provided. Our guests are still raving about how gorgeous the facilities were and how great the food was. We cannot thank AH enough and would immediately recommend it to anyone looking for a stress free wedding day!

My husband and I knew as soon as we stepped through the door that this was going to be the place we would get married. It had special meaning to us as well to hold our wedding here because we had our first date two doors down. My husband also races horses and I tied that in beautifully to the wedding!! Joy and Jim were absolutely amazing and helpful. They were always there to answer any and ALL the questions I had. They paid attention to details and really help make our vision come true! Both have a great personality and sense of humor and made the day very easy and relaxing!! The food was also amazing!! I highly recommend The American Hotel and all of their staff to anyone looking for an elegant and classy wedding.

The American hotel is such a beautiful venue! Joy and Jim are amazing and went out of there way to make sure I had the perfect linens after 2 horrible experience of trying to find the right linens on my own. They were perfect and the room looked amazing the day of!
I only have one recommendation for all future brides and grooms...ask to have a little food from the cocktail hour and dinner wrapped up....my husband and I did not get to eat any of the food during the cocktail hour and I wish we had....we were super hungry after the wedding was over with no food to our avail. The food is so super delicious that I wish we had some wrapped up.

AMAZING!!!! I would not change a thing. Our day was perfect and we could not ask for more. Joy and Jim are truly the definition of hard work. They both went out of their way to make our day wonderful. The food was amazing and the set up was beautiful. They are professional, responsible, very flexible and an absolute delight to work with. I don't think there is enough space to say all the amazing things about my experience with the American Hotel! We wanted our wedding at a hotel so people could stay over after but didn't love the typical hotel ballroom feel. The American Hotel was the perfect answer. The venue was absolutely everything we dreamed of - not only was it beautiful and charming, but it had absolutely delicious food (which we got to try at an event they host for everyone who has events coming - a very nice touch). It also had Joy and Jim, who were the two most amazing people to work with. They left no stone unturned and were so on top of things leading up to the wedding. No matter how many questions I had or how many times I wanted to come in and chat with them about something, they were always thrilled to see me and happy to help. Every time I was there I felt like royalty! Joy was always so practical and offered us so much amazing advice throughout our planning. Leading up to the wedding, they coordinated everything with our vendors, and really made the planning process so much easier for us. On the day of the wedding, Joy and Jim worked their magic and made everything a dream come true. During the cocktail hour, they had drinks of our choice and hors d'oeurves waiting for us up in the bridal suite. As soon as we came downstairs, Jim was standing there with a drink for me. We decided to give mini wine bottles as our favors (at Joy's suggestion!) and left it up to her to display them. She surprised us with the most beautiful display and it really took our breath away. The room looked absolutely stunning - somehow it exceeded every expectation I had. We were engaged for two years and after planning for so long, it was amazing to me that everything was even better than I had imagined. Jim and Joy are both such a pleasure to work with - they will do anything to make sure your day is perfect. People kept telling me not to be upset if something went wrong (because something always goes wrong)

Our day was AMAZING and it was all thanks to the American Hotel on how everything went. Joy was a huge help throughout the entire process of planning and Jim was EXTREMELY attentive to our needs and made sure everything we wanted or needed was there. The reception room was GORGEOUS and our dance floor was never empty. I will be telling everyone I come in contact with that this is the place to host an event. Everything room was exactly as I had imagined it to look and we honestly could not have been any more happier than what we were with everything. Even the women at the first desk of the Hotel were very helpful and a delight to have been around.

The American Hotel is the easiest vendor to work with! They were very accommodating to my husband's latex allergy as well our guests who needed to be gluten free. Joy was very quick to respond to my e-mails and phone calls and Jim made the evening flow with ease and which allowed us to be a very relaxed bride and groom! Our guests are still talking about how great the service was and how delicious all the food was!

When I got engaged I was hesitant to look at hotels because I wanted a bit of a non-traditional wedding with an old world feel. I was definitely not your cookie-cutter bride. When I went to look at the hotel it blew me away. The old-world charm of the banquet room with the high ceilings, beautiful crown molding, and breathtaking chandeliers was exactly what I was looking for. Joy and Jim were an absolute dream to work with. My expectations were high and not only were they met, but they were tremendously exceeded. The food was amazing (people still rave to me about it) and the service was wonderful. When the wedding day was upon us, Jim made sure every detail was in place and that my event went smoothly. He even gave me a pep-talk right before the ceremony and would check on me throughout the night to make sure I was eating (a fantastic gluten and dairy-free dish he had specially prepared for me because of my allergies) and made sure my husband and I were enjoying ourselves. People normally tell you not to stress because SOMETHING will go wrong on your wedding day. Well I can honestly say thanks to Joy and Jim nothing went wrong! I had the perfect wedding and completely recommend.

Where do we even start?!? Our wedding (ceremony and reception) was held at the American Hotel on Saturday April 27, 2013 and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue and weekend. We looked at numerous venues throughout Central Jersey and knew as soon as we visited the American Hotel that it was definitely the only venue for us.

Joy and Jim went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect and smooth sailing from start to finish..it seemed like they were never off the clock. Both Joy and Jim were a pleasure to work with from the time we first visited all the way until the end of our wedding night. We worked with Joy throughout the planning process and she did a great job helping us with everything from our menu choices to room decor to recommending stellar vendors. We couldn't have asked for a better "go-to" person the day of the wedding than Jim. He was everywhere and did not stop until every last detail and request was addressed.

Our close family and wedding party stayed at the hotel for the weekend which made everything super convenient and made our experience feel like a destination wedding. The hotel staff was very helpful and worked with us to organize accommodations for all our guests. All of the rooms were spacious, modern and we especially loved the suites with the balconies.

We look forward to returning to the American Hotel in the future to celebrate many more happy occasions!

I got married at The American Hotel on November 9th, 2012. I could not be happier with the service that received around my wedding. I booked my wedding 2 years before the day of the event, I have worked with Joy till the day of the wedding. She is so wonderful I can not express, she has made the wedding process easy and enjoyable. Our wedding had many bumps because are wedding was two weeks after Hurricane Sandy then two days before the wedding we got a foot of snow. Joy never missed a beat and the day the hotel got power back I got a phone call immediately. The week before the wedding I started working with Jim. Jim was my sanity through all of the craziness of the last week day of the wedding, the rehearsal dinner and wedding day. He walked me through the wedding and made my day perfect. If you are getting married The American Hotel is the place to do it.

Joy and Jim were exceptional! They were helpful, flexible, accommodating, and knowledgeable! The food was outstanding, the hotel accommodations were lovely, the waitstaff were so helpful and friendly, and everything was perfect. The ballrooms looked more beautiful than I could have ever imagined them. You'll be in great hands.

I chose the American Hotel after looking at several wedding venues. I fell in love with the feel of the hotel. It has a modern feel with a cozy intimate reception room. I loved the fact that my guests could stay in the hotel upstairs after the reception. I worked with Joy and Jim who were both very helpful throughout the process. I had several special food requests as my husband is Indian and we wanted to incorporate some Indian food. Joy and Jim were so accommodating and helpful and did everything they could to make my requests happen and go smoothly. The food at the reception was was delicious and guests raved about the Chilean Sea Bass!

We couldn't have chosen a better place to have our wedding ceremony and reception. The staff was extremely professional, friendly and helpful. The manager, John, was very flexible in helping to meet our needs and made our night truely special. We received nothing but compliments from every single one of our guests. I will definately use The American Hotel for any future events.

Everything was perfect! Joy and Jim went above and beyond to make our day special. So many of our guest came up to us after the wedding to tell us how great everything was!

We had a beautiful fairy-tale wedding at The American Hotel that was everything we dreamed. Our reception hall was stunning and exactly how we imagined. I would recommend a wedding here to any bride and groom. The banquet managers are friendly, accommodating, down to earth…but very busy. It would sometimes take a few days to get a response. Regardless, The American Hotel is classy, clean and able to accommodate budgets. There were a few mishaps at our wedding, but very minor. Our ice sculpture shattered when moved into the reception on a wobbly table. Guests who witnessed this said it was obviously going to fall with the way it was handled. Luckily, the ice sculpture had been thrown into our package for free so it wasn't a big deal. Another minor issue was that my husband and I had hand selected our specialty drinks and found out that one of the drinks was being served wrong. It was supposed to be blue and instead was dark brown. I brought this to the banquet manager's attention and it was immediately fixed for the remainder of the evening. One thing brides should know is that the selection of linens at The American Hotel will be no easy feat. Unless you desire basic tablecloth colors kept on site (black, white, ivory) it will be a challenge. Colorful linens are rented from outside vendors. The American Hotel orders a sample each time a bride wants to see one. You wait for it to come in and then arrange a meeting to see it…and if it is not quite the color/material you were looking for, the process starts over again as you wait for the next sample. Because this process seemed time consuming and I did not like the sample chair ties that were shown to me, I had to purchase my own online, but to the banquet manager’s credit…they WERE able to find me beautiful lavender overlays that I loved and used. If you have your wedding here you won't be disappointed and if I had it to do over again I would just the same!! I know we will return here for future events!

I don’t even know where to begin on how awesome the American Hotel was for our wedding on March 30th, 2019. From start to finish Joy and Jim were there every step of the way as far as all the planning, tastings, all the little details and my million emails and questions. Wedding planning can be so stressful but joy and Jim are both so on top of everything that we felt so taken care of there. We were able to book out the rooms in the hotel for our guests and having everything in one place (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, hotel room) was a huge plus and made the whole day even more stress free. And a huge plus for me was that they only hold one wedding at a time so your truly feel taken care of. Also this made it so that the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were all in separate rooms and didn’t need to be turned over for different parts of the day. We also were lucky to have beautiful weather and were able to open up the patio for our cocktail hour and thru out the wedding. Jim and joy were there the whole day of the wedding from start to end and we’re so on top of everything as far as where me and my now husband had to be and he guided us thru out the day, (pics, cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc.) we literally didn’t have to worry about anything the day of. We were able to do our first look on their beautiful balcony, which turned out for amazing pictures. I am so thankful we stumbled upon this beautiful venue for our special day. 💙

The entire staff at the American Hotel is incredible. Joy and Jim took made the entire planing process effortless. They were articulate, assertive, and flexible when it came to turning my plans into reality. They are really experts at what they do and will help to take away much of the stress that comes with planning a large event. The staff was also excellent, they were attentive but not overbearing. The food was absolutely amazing and abundant. We hardly had to think at all when is came to the reception, we just enjoyed the party. Many of our guests said that ours was the best wedding they had ever attended. Thanks again to everyone at the hotel!

The American Hotel is an extremely beautiful location great for any special event. Joy and Jim were awesome. They helped put together and run a beautiful event. I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else.

The American Hotel was a perfect place to hold our wedding! It's a small boutique hotel and we were able to reserve all rooms for the night of our wedding as we had a lot of out of town guests. We planned the wedding remotely as we lived in California at the time and had no problems communicating with Joy or any other members of her team. They were very professional and spoke with all of our vendors prior to our wedding day to make sure everyone was on the same page. The day was flawless and perfect! My only compliant is that they passed the wedding cake out to everyone, but picked it up very quickly before anyone had ate it. My sister actually had to ask them to bring her piece back. Also, there was a ton of cake left, but we never received any. We had three different flavors and both me and my husband didn't even get to try the cake besides the cake cutting because they took it away so quickly. After the reception everyone headed to the lobby bar where the party continued. I would highly recommend The American Hotel to anyone that is looking to hold a memorable event.

Everything was great and the bang-for-the-buck value was extremely high. The service on the day of is nothing short of comforting and exceptional. Only suggestion would be to make sure if you are booking rooms to go along with your big day (or weekend) is to stay in constant contact with the hotel staff. Those helping you with your big day are totally independent of the team in charge of rooming and accommodations and it's on you to follow-up.

My Daughter's wedding ceremony and reception were at the American Hotel. It was Amazing! Jim and Joy are The Absolute BEST!!! Many of us, including the bride and groom stayed at the hotel and were extremely happy with everything. I would Highly recommend this venue!

As soon as I saw this venue I knew it was the right one for my wedding. I had my ceremony and reception here. There are 3 banquet halls and I used all three for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The room for the ceremony was a little small (we had 150 people), but the other rooms were perfect. I was happy with the food but the filet mignon for an entree was a bit over cooked for everyone. We were not pleased with the bakery they use for the wedding cake, so we chose our own, but were given a credit. The bridal suite is included for the night of the wedding, which was lovely. It would have been special had there been something like champagne waiting for us when we went up to it, but there was not. Regardless, room was large and we were very happy. Be prepared though, that if you choose to stay there on a Saturday night, you will be sleeping right above their restaurant/bar and its VERY loud. I was very happy with my experience and would definitely recommend this to a friend.

We fell in love with the American Hotel the moment we walked in. We had our ceremony and reception both held here. We worked with Joy throughout the whole time and loved working with her. She is honest, calm, organized, and has great ideas. I emailed and called her several times and she always got back to me right away.

The day of the wedding went pretty well. A few bumps along the way, but we did not let that stop us in having an amazing time. The food was DELICIOUS and everyone commented on how great the wait staff was.

We also had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Steve, when we hung out at the bar after the reception. He was super nice and really takes pride in his establishment.

I had my wedding at the American Hotel, and loved it. The banquet manager we started with was not great, but was replaced by Joy, who was fantastic. She was responsive, and you could tell she wanted us to be happy with everything. On the day of, Jim the maitre di made sure we were taken care of. My tossing bouquet never made it to the venue, so he made one on the spot for me! Food and wait staff was great too!

Let me start off by stating that The American Hotel is absolutely beautiful and almost all of my guests said that either it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to, or that the food was outrageous! It is a little pricy, especially the hotel rooms that my guests stayed in. I also have to say that my wedding was beyond any expectation I ever could have imagined. The reception was beautiful and the staff really worked with me and allowed me to come in and set up prior to the wedding. NOTHING went wrong the day of the wedding, which is a rarity. With that being said, let me explain why the professionalism score is so low. About 6-7 weeks AFTER my wedding, the sales representative, Joy, contacted me stating that accounting noticed she messed up her figures and undercharged me $1,000. That's right - one thousand! She called my husband and he stated we would NOT pay this and would be contacting our attorney if need be, as we paid our final invoice in full. Mind you, she emailed me a few days before with the invoice stating FINAL BALANCE which we paid and signed for. I think it's poor business and extremely unprofessional to say the least. After all, we paid almost $24,000 to them so it's not like they are hurting for the money. I must emphasize that if it was a mistake on my behalf and/or this was caught before we signed the final invoice, I would have had no problem paying that. But stating that we have to pay for something that was not our fault is ridiculous. Also, our maitre-D, Jim, caught us off-guard at the end of the night asking us what we planned to give to our servers, after we already handed him a $300 tip and gratuity for servers was already included in our contract. UNPROFESSIONAL!
I am torn and saddened that I have to write this review because everything was perfect until we received that email. Because of this, I don't think I'd be going back to their restaurant or highly recommending them to any bride, which is unfortunate.

Joy was extremely professional and from the moment we met her, we knew we were in good hands. The Lennox Room was elegant and the perfect size for our wedding of 45 people. Our colors were plum and gold, which coordinated beautifully with the room, and since it was a cool day the fireplace was lit and it made the room feel cozy and intimate, which is exactly what we were looking for in a small wedding.

They did a fantastic job arranging my decor, so at first glance the room was exactly as I had imagined, but I did notice some details that did not go according to plan. The speaker was set up in the far back corner so it was very hard to hear the music from the dance floor even at full volume, the tables on the patio were not setup with tealights for my guests to step outside, and the hotel card box was not the one we were promised. The food was supposed to open immediately after the ceremony, but we were all standing around waiting and my mom had to check on it. The butler passed hors d'oeuvres seemed to completely skip over us at our sweetheart table so we weren't even sure if everything came out, and whenever I went up to get food there were empty bowls. We were disappointed that the abundant food menu we planned ended up looking sparse, and we were concerned that our guests didn't get enough food. We opted for the dessert station which was supposed to be out with the rest of the food, but it didn't come out until some of my guests were already leaving.

We will not have our wedding at the American Hotel, but we went there to get quotation. On our first time there, we did not had an appointment and Joy was very nice and walked us through the venue, explained their menu and gave us prices. I really like the venue because we are having a winter wedding, and the fire places and the ambiance of the venue is perfect for a winter wedding. I called and emailed Joy several time, she was ok. Not super nice, but not rude as well (very different from other venues where they are extremely nice to brides and grooms). We decide to go to the venue one more time before deciding on closing with them. We got there late, but Joy was ok and showed us the venue, she was a little off but I guess everybody have their bad days. She forgot she gave us a "special" price, but after reminding her, she was ok with it. We left the venue almost sure we would close with them. The price was really good, and the venue seemed nice. When I called Joy during the week to ask some final questions, she was very rude to us, and said that they would not be able to handle our CHRISTIAN WEDDING unless we added some type of BAR SERVICE. We told her since day 1 we would not serve alcohol at our wedding and it was NEVER a problem. She was extremely rude, and angry about it. Surely we did not close with them, and will never recommend this venue. All the other venues we visit were totally fine with the fact we will not serve alcohol at our wedding, but AMERICAN HOTEL has a problem with it. Terrible customer service.

Hotel staff was extremely rude to wedding guests. We were super embarrassed about this. (We heard this from multiple guests.)
