Thank you for a fantastic Bar Mitzvah experience

Becky and Debbie were amazing from start to finish! they helped me think through what I needed in advance, they were there from set up to clean up--they were efficient, super friendly and creative--and they did evetything possible to make my Son's Bar Mitzvah perfect. I cannot thank them enough!

Debbie and he staff is professional and you leave the worrying to them.

This is a very professional catering outfit. Everything was superb and the food was fantastic. Debbie and her staff will take care of everything so you can enjoy your event. She comes highly recommended. Not only was the main good menu excellent but her cake is to die for. It was so good , I asked her to make me another for a different occasion.

Commissioning week 2019

Deb and her staff were absolutely amazing!! As commissioning planning starts months in advance Dab kindly guided us through the whole process from menus rentals and to timing and staffing. Deb has done this many times and every detail was carefully orchestrated. The food was delicious, plenty for our guests. Deb arranged desserts and bar tending —both adding to our special graduation event. I cannot speak more highly of this wonderful group!!

Plebe Parent Weekend Party (USNA)

Deb and her staff were wonderful to work with and did a fantastic job coordinating our event. Our family was traveling from Illinois and Deb did all my pre-party planning. The food was fantastic and the service/servers in the house was professional and friendly. We were able to socialize and enjoy our own party!

Wonderful and professional!

Deb went above and beyond. She took multiple worries out of my hands by dealing with tasks and details that wasn’t part of her job description. People loves the food and said everything looked so lovely! Definitely recommend!

Great Service, Great Food

Debbie Kupfer was absolutely wonderful. She worked with us to make our dinner, both food and service, (for 30 people) a great success. We highly recommend Debbie for any catered event. She is now "family."

They were recommended to us by the realtor whom we rented the house from. There were 19 of us with different dietary needs. Having a catered dinner was so much better than all of us going out to a restaurant. Deb and her staff were amazing. They were very flexible, helped with the coming up with the menu, had good ideas etc. They were also so fun to be around. The food was amazing! We ended up getting appetizers, three main dishes, sides and dessert. They set up, prepared and cleaned up like they were never there. It was an amazing start of a beautiful family weekend together in Annapolis. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a catered meal/event! They were absolutely fabulous!

My wife and are from Utah and started working with Debra Kupfer in 2016 to begin planning our son’s 2018 USNA graduation dinner. Of course, having no idea what to expect, we relied heavily on Debra’s input regarding planning a dinner for approximately twenty family and friends on the Thursday evening before Friday’s graduation. Debra’s communication through e-mail was excellent and during one our trips to Annapolis we were able to meet and found her to be very personable, flexible, and detail orientated. Debra and her team performed flawlessly on the day of the dinner. The food was terrific and everyone had a great time! Debra and her team took care of everything from set up to clean up and all we had to do was relax. We also requested a post-graduation meal to be dropped off at the house we were renting. That meal too was fantastic and it was so nice not worry about finding a restaurant or cooking after the long morning and just sit back and relax with our family! In short, I highly recommend and cannot say enough good things about Debra and “Takes the Cake Catering and Event Planning”. Not only did Debra come through as promised with our meals, she also proved to be a great resource in general. I will close this review with one example of Debra’s character. My wife and I came to Annapolis to visit our son near the date of our Anniversary. Debra recommended Harry Browne’s and the meal was excellent. As we were finishing our dinner, the waiter brought out a beautiful small cake, which by the way was delicious. Debra made the cake herself as a gift for us!

I would highly, and without reservation, recommend Takes the Cake for anyone looking to hire a professional and caring caterer for a really important event! From our very first meeting, I knew we were in excellent hands. Debbie asked lots of questions and listened to our vision for my son's commissioning party; she responded promptly and courteously to my various questions and as a result, the event was even better than we could have imagined. All of our guests commented how fresh and flavorful the food was and how lovely everything looked. Debbie's staff is a top-notch crew too, serving graciously and cleaning behind the scenes and watching for every little opportunity to make guests comfortable and happy. I am not one to write reviews, but I am so excited about Takes the Cake that I wanted to share my comments here; and I've already passed Debbie's name to my friends. If you want an event planned with the care and attention to detail that you'd apply yourself, if you had the time and talent, you've found the right person to do it!

Deb’s catering business is highly professional. We do a lot of long distance planning and are always delighted with the results. Many times we have arrived with suitcases in hand with the knowledge that everything is handled. We would highly recommend Deb!

Debbie Kupfer and her staff were excellent. They catered the bridal shower. Ms. Kupfer made several suggestions, listen to my desires and together we came up with an excellent menu. Everyone in attendance enjoyed the food. Ms. Kupfer was easy to work with. I would recommend her highly!

Debbie catered food to our rental house for Navy Commissioning Week. Her food was fresh, cleverly garnished and tasty. She was able to adjust food preparation to our number of guests for our weekly meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Our favorite meal was the crispy fried chicken.

Debra at It Takes A Cake is awesome! She has been making cakes for me for many years for many special events, and has made both of my daughter's wedding cakes and they were beautiful. Her attention to detail was spot on, taking her expertise with the wishes of what the brides wanted. The taste was exceptional and she offers many choices of flavors for the cake. I would highly recommend her for cakes or any catering needs.

Takes the Cake Catering is hands down the most professional, creative and responsive caters we have ever worked with. Their menus are creative (and delicious) and their staff is excellent. However their best attribute is their ability to handle bumps in the road.... so when the unexpected happens (and it always does), they step up and handle it... They make sure that every thing runs smoothly, the guests are taken care of and we don't have to worry about a thing. Priceless!

I first experienced Deb's catering 20 years ago. Her marinated shrimp, yum!
Since then I have referred her to many of my vacation rental clients and would not even consider having anyone else cater one of my events.
This last event was an intimate company dinner. She prepared the casual menu that we talked about and served it in the most beautiful ways; utilizing touches of crystal, candlelight and local flora. Who knew sliders could look so enticing? (And taste so fabulous!)

This was a very high-end corporate event, from china rental to bar tenders to passed appetizers as well as dinner. Debra was wonderful to work with from the very start. Our guests raved about the food, and it was a fantastic event. We will be using her again!

Deb was amazing! She was so helpful and accommodating through the whole process of preparing for our daughter's wedding. Debbie was very friendly and easy to work with! We came to her with our ideas for taste and appearance of the wedding cake we wanted, and she definitely delivered! Deb Kupfer (owner of Takes The Cake) catered our engagement party in October 2013 and we couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out! The presentation of the food and décor really impressed us with how much attention she put into making our party special. Her crab dip was delicious and a must if you hire her. Each of the dishes on our menu were the perfect compliment to one another, from the shrimp to the roast beef sliders to the basil tomato mozzarella skewers to the gourmet cheese and fruit platter...there was something for everyone. Our guests are still raving about Takes The Cake food! If we had found a wedding venue which we could bring Takes the Cake in we definitely would have them as our wedding caterer. I'd recommend Deb Kupfer and her team at Takes the Cake to anyone in need of a caterer or cake baker for their special event!

Debra was an incredible caterer. Not only was the food amazing, but she was great to work with. She also catered our rehearsal dinner which was awesome! She ALSO did our cake! Takes the Cake was absolutely amazing!! I gave three different photos of cakes and they were able to combine them into exactly what I wanted. All of my guests commented on how great the cake tasted, some even went for seconds! We also had a brunch the following day and I must say the food was unbelievable. There was a variety of items from breakfast, lunch, and dessert and we barely had leftovers because everyone went for seconds and thirds. I could go on and on about how amazing the food was, especially the crab dip! but I must say that Takes the Cakes were also very friendly, efficient, and accommodating. I changed the menu about 5 times and they had no problem taking care of the changes. They also made suggestions that made the brunch even better. I HIGHLY recommend Takes the Cakes :)

My husband and I were very pleased with our cakes. We decided to get a 3 tier wedding cake and also a grooms cake. I drew picture of the idea I wanted for both and Deb created 2 cakes that looked better than what I had even imagined!

Debbie of "Takes the Cake" did an absolutely wonderful job! At the beginning with the planning she got our budget and worked within it. Never putting pressure on us to spend more. She is quite a good planner and organizer. I am still periodically getting comments from the guests on how good the food was. The crab dip was very popular and for a good reason. She also made the cake which was quite delicious as well as beautiful. Her and her staff did a wonderful job working together. Overall, we couldn't be more pleased!

Takes the Cake catered our New Year's Day open house and did a fabulous job. Debbie is friendly and very helpful with planning your menu and any event. I have already hired her again to cater a bridal shower in May. She is friendly, extremely easy to work with and always available and quick to respond to calls and emails. She loves what she does and it shows. Takes the Cake provides delicious, unique, high quality food. Debbie is a professional and a perfectionist, and she shows great attention to detail. Debbie flawlessly pulled off a reception for 60 people hired ONE week before the wedding. The food was delicious, unique, appropriate for our venue and beautifully displayed. Our wedding cake was classic and elegant. She was extremely flexible, gave great value for the price, and very personable and kind. Really just a lovely person who obviously loves what she does and does it well with special personal touches. I have no doubt you'll be thankful you hired her.

Debbie created the most gorgeous and delicious cake that we could have ever dreamed of for our wedding! She was very helpful and responsive and did everything she could to make sure that the appearance of the cake matched our vision. We had a beach-themed wedding on the water so Debbie made us a 3-tiered half chocolate, half vanilla pound cake wedding cake with white chocolate shells and precious starfish toppers. The butter cream frosting is amazing and the decor and style of the cake was just lovely. We got wonderful comments of how tasty it was. My husband and I can't wait till our first anniversary to dig into the top saved section of the cake!!! I highly recommend her services to anyone who is looking for someone to make the cake of their dreams for them. Thanks Debbie, you are the best.

Dear Deb,

Thank you for your excellent catering work for our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception this past Fall-- and please accept our apology for this delayed note.

As you know, neither my wife nor I had ever hired a caterer before, and when our friend Tim suggested we contact you, we proceeded with many questions and much caution. That we ended up trusting you with not only our wedding day catering (and flower!) needs but also our rehearsal drinks and dinner, is a testament to the trust you instilled.

The results, were simply fantastic. All of our guests-- literally all of our guests-- raved about the food and drink at the cocktail party, at the art gallery dinner, and at the wedding reception. And once the date was close, we never lifted another finger or lost a wink of sleep. Your team of attractive, well-mannered, and highly effective servers could work anywhere in the world. And we had fun working with you, to boot.

We would be happy to serve as a reference should any potential clients have questions in the future. But the simple truth of the matter is, if you are in need of a world-class caterer for a price you can afford, call Takes the Cake!

We were doing the rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding long distance. Deb Kupfer and Takes the Cake were oustanding in every way. The food was delicious, the staff was courteous and attractive. Everything was exactly the way I wanted it to be because Deb had a vision for the end result. She didn't leave a stone unturned. Both my husband and I think (know!) that she is the best. We would recommend her WITHOUT reservation.

An absolutely amazing caterer, extremely great to work with and makes everything about the planning process as well as wedding day amazing. Debbie did a fantastic job with our cake! We had a lot of people say it was the best wedding cake they've ever had. She was very flexible with what we wanted to do - almond pound cake w/ ganache filling and white buttercream frosting. AND - the BEST part...we had this design of scroll work under our monogram (MMM in an oval) that was on our invitation. I wanted to put that exact monogram and scroll work on the center layer of our 3 layer cake. Debbie was able to take a computer file of our design, send it off to someone, and get back an exact icing design of what we wanted. She wrapped the design around the entire middle layer of the cake and it was BEAUTIFUL! I'll admit, when the wedding was winding down, I snuck and extra piece of cake in the corner...

I planned 2 receptions before coming in contact with Takes the Cake Catering. They were recommended by a friend of mine and man am I glad I took the recommendation! Our first meeting with Debbie was very productive. She was very honest and followed through with all that was discussed. We gave her our budget and she was able to give us all that we wanted! The food and service was amazing! We got married on October 10, 2009 and people are still raving about the food!
Debbie and her team were amazing!! The day of the wedding they arrived early, were very organized and worked well with other vendors! They were efficient and knew exactly what they were doing. The appitizers were warm and fresh during the cocktail hour and everything was perfect for dinner. We had cup cakes for dessert. Again they looked beautiful and tasted even more delicious!! It was a pleasure working with Debbie and her crew.

Debbie Kupfer and Takes the Cake Catering were everything we needed in a caterer and more. They were professional and yet caring. They were helpful in offering suggestions and fantastic at follow-through. They were flexible even up to days before the wedding when the client (me -- mother of the bride) didn't read the contract thoroughly enough to understand an important detail. They came to the rescue with grace. They went above and beyond the call of duty in helping to decorate the reception hall and did a great job at it. And...the food was fantastic. We got many compliments on the food taste, presentation and quality.

Debbie, from Takes the Cake Catering was terrific! The food was amazing!!! The guests raved about it. The appetizers, main course and desserts were delicious. The display was beautiful. She also created wonderful table decorations.

Regarding the menu, she gave me ideas and was very helpful/informative, but also listened to me and supported my food preferences. Debbie was willing to work with my budget. She was very organized with the contract, was flexible and made changes to the number of attendees and menu. She always called me back promptly or told me when she would be available. Debbie ordered the rental tables, chairs and linens, she was correct about the number, and delivery and pick-up were easy.

I will use her again and agin for catered family functions. My guests all want to use her as well.

Since my wedding, I've used Debbie for multiple occasions including a baptism, birthday, First Communion celebration and a Gals Get Together at my home. I've also attended parties that she's catered for others. Not only is her food exquisite in taste: briskett with creamy horse radish, cedar plank salmon, risotto tossed with flavorful goodies or her fabulous cakes, her presentation style is unrivaled. She makes everything beautiful with her attention to detail and natural talent for what looks pleasing. Fresh flowers, attractive display baskets, gorgeously decorated platters carefully arranged on colorful linens - those are just some of her trademark specialities. She's cool under fire if things get hectic - just what you want when entertaining. I've recommended her countless times and she always produces.

The food was excellent. People are still, nearly a year later, commenting on how well it went. Debbie was flexible as our needs and desires changed slightly. She made sure everything went smoothly setting up the food, serving it, and helping clean it up. She even made sure the bride and groom had a chance to try the food! I would highly recommend her.

This Vendor supplied all that we needed. We were coming from out of town so her recommendations and suggestions where right on target. I had the utmost confidence in this vendor. She was helpful to the unique type of event we had and was responsive to all my needs. Due to last minutes changes (Rain) she was able to switch gears quickly. Takes the cake catering and event planning did a phenomenal job with our wedding cake. We asked for something simple and they did that and more. Because of the craziness that day I never had time to eat a piece (except the one shoved in my face by my wonderful husband). After the wedding I asked if Debbie could make another little cake, so I could have some, and she did. This catering company I highly recommend.

Deb and Dana were great to work with and very accommodating. There were some issues with the refrigerator and oven in our rental home and Deb and Dana were able to work around those issues and were able to provide my family with a great meal! And, the birthday cake was delicious too!

When it comes to the reception itself, you won't find any group more professional nor more helpful. Food quality received rave reviews from the guests, especially for the crab dip (which wasn't "fishy" tasting at all!). Service was the best we've ever seen at an event of this type.

Takes the Cake did a great job for The Bay Theatre event. The food was delicious and professionally served. The food was creatively displayed and everyone was raving how wonderful it tasted.

I would certainly call Takes the Cake again and have recommended their services to other friends and people putting on events in the city of Annapolis.

Debbie planned and coordinated my daughter's very no-traditional wedding from start to finish working long distance between Annapolis, MD and Chapel Hill, NC. Needless to say it was complicated,but she pulled it off and it will be remembered by me as one of the happiest days of my life. Debbie works well under stress and can handle last minuted details. She is focused and professional.

Catering staff is wonderful.

CAKES ARE AMAZING. We have used Takes the Cake for cake for three events, engagement party, bridal shower and wedding. The cakes are the best we have ever tasted and the decorations are amazing.

The crab dip is also delicious, everything was presented very beautifully. Highly recommend working with Takes the Cake.

Debbie is a pleasure to work with and very talented and professional. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, high quality, and included personal touches such as a very special cheese that reflected the theme of our graduation celebration. Our guests raved about the crab dip and all the delicious food. Due to an unexpected staffing issue, the food delivery and set up was delayed on the day of our small, family event, but we were flexible so it wasn't a problem for us and Debbie worked her magic very quickly as soon as she arrived - the unavoidable (and I believe, atypical) delay is the only reason for four stars instead of five regarding quality of service. Definitely highly recommend Debbie and Takes the Cake Catering!
