We were searching for what felt like forever trying to find the right place to get our cake and when we came across sweet chef it was such a relief! Dominique was AMAZING! She was very quick to respond to any of our questions and she has so many different options to pick from. We probably changed our order 2 or 3 times before we finally decided what we wanted and she was very polite and patient as we were finalizing our order. We were so excited to be able to bring our dessert bar vision to life at our wedding. Everything we ordered not only looked incredible but tasted even better!

Wedding cupcakes
Looking for cupcakes I googled cupcakes near me and Sweet Chef appeared. I looked at the website, read Dominique’s story and wanted give her local business a try. I ordered samples and received 2 boxes, his and hers cupcake samples. They were so delicious! For our event we ordered 10 dozen cupcakes each of different flavors as well as a small cake to cut. Details were clearly drawn up into a contract. The cupcakes were delivered and set up for our day as promised. Our guests LOVED them! Dominique was amazing to work with and the cupcakes were delicious!

I have done many orders with Dominique for years now. She has created anything from cupcakes for homecoming, birthday cakes and lastly me wedding cake last month. She is great at communication and following up with me.
Her cakes and cupcakes have always been moist, tasty and beautiful. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for specialized cakes/treats. I reached out to Sweet Chef over wedding wire for more information on wedding cakes. The owner got back to me before 8am the next day, only a few hours after my initial inquiry. I was so impressed with her response time! During the process of picking out the cake, the owner was in constant and quick communication every step of the way. I found Dominique/Sweet Chef when we were on the hunt to find someone that could make sugar free desserts for our wedding. My now husband is diabetic and I wanted him to be able to enjoy the desserts on our wedding day. The second we tasted the sample provided by Sweet Chef we knew she was the one! Since then we have purchased several orders of cupcakes from her, she also made our wedding cake and cupcakes. She is very professional, very responsive and everything she makes is simply beautiful. Chef Lewis was absolutely amazing. I had to change my date multiple times due to Covid and the whole time, she was completely understanding and worked with me throughout the whole process. The flavors we chose were Vanilla Bean, Strawberry with White Chocolate, Chocolate with Coffee, Lemon with Raspberry, and Cookies and Cream. The cake and cupcakes were absolutely beautiful looking and she did everything in her power to make sure it matched my colors and theme (which they did perfectly), and everyone LOVED all the flavors. It was a beautiful surprise coming in to my reception and seeing her amazing work. If I run any form of event, I would 100% absolutely order through Sweet Chef again. Thank you so much for making my wedding magical!

I’ve known Chef Dominique on a personal level for some time, however I never let that cloud my judgement when it comes to business and services. The whole was was nothing but professional and personal the whole experience! I had to make changes to my wedding last minute and thank goodness she was able to accommodate! We had to travel for this wedding. Twelve hours in the car (Virginia Beach to upstate New York). Dominique packaged the parts and pieces of our cake and it survived the trip without incident. As for the cake itself, scrumptious! Rave reviews from everyone. It was expertly crafted, and it looked and tasted fantastic! The cake had to be assembled on site, (remember 12 hour trip) and after some expert advise talking back and forth on the phone with Dominique, the cake was finished and was admired by everyone at the reception. Dominique went above and beyond all expectations for us!

Domonique was very professional. I had a huge treat table so I didn't want too much cake. I ordered a small 2 tier cake with 10 dozen cupcakes. She was very helpful with coming up with something that would make me happy, as well as fit into my budget. She was amazing, the presentation was as promised and the cupcakes were delicious. The crowd favorites were the keylime and maple topped with bacon. She also added a last minute Grooms cake for me in the shape of a music note for my musician.

Words can't express how my husband and I FELL IN LOVE with the wedding cake!!!! The cake and cupcakes were absolutely delicious! Gave her my vision of how I wanted the cake and she went above and beyond my expectations! Even provided her advice and thoughts when I had asked and without a doubt everything came together and worked out! Would highly recommend!

Dominique was absolutely wonderful! Not only did my wedding cake SURPASS my expectations, but it was incredibly affordable for such a delicious and beautiful cake!! I'm not one for eating wedding cakes but this cake was absolutely to die for and my guests loved it just as much! She said she had never tried a semi-naked cake and completely nailed it! I will forever sing her praises!

I cannot express how pleased I was with Dominique and our wedding cake...it was beyond delicious and so beautiful... She is extremely professional and prompt and everyone raved about the cake....and the cake was everything I wanted...I wholeheartedly recommend her for your special day.

Dominique was the absolute best! Not only was she incredibly nice and easy to work with, her cake was an amazing deal and even better, incredibly delicious! We ordered 3 flavors from her (we couldn't pick just one) and all were wonderful, so moist! The cake itself was so beautiful and exactly what we wanted! Everyone told us how delicious our cakes were. We could not recommend her more!!

She is very professional, helpful, and she really came through when my catering service told me at the last minute that they didn't provide utensil/plates for my cake. Dominique went and bought those for me so I didn't have to worry about it. I really appreciated that. The cake was excellent I want some more lol!!!!!

Sweet Chef is incredible! They were incredibly attentive through the whole wedding planning process and had great suggestions for cake ideas. They have a wide range of flavor options and they are all delicious (I know because they did a great tasting for us). We were able to offer our guests two different flavor options and Sweet Chef was very creative in helping us get the cake we wanted within our budget. Sweet Chef was also very accommodating with the type of decoration we wanted and they delivered the cake and set up and decorated the cake table beautifully on the day of the wedding. I cannot recommend Sweet Chef highly enough (They also make fabulous cupcakes by the way!)!

Sweet Chef made our cake for our wedding and we were blown away! The cake turned out better than we could have imagined. Our guests were raving over our cake because of how delicious it was! We found Sweet Chef through a bridal show in Newport News. We had planned for a Fall wedding and had to change plans to May at the last minute. We never had the chance to actually meet with her in person to discuss our needs and details, other than the bridal show, due to our quick change of plans. We corresponded through emails and phone calls and Dominique was absolutely professional and pleasant to work with! Instead of the traditional wedding cake, we went with cupcakes and a cake top. The cupcakes and cake were absolutely delicious, by far the best I had tasted from other vendors at the bridal show! They were just as beautiful too! We went with a simple cake top and Dominique suggested swiss dots and a black ribbon to match our theme. Our cupcakes were dusted with light blue edible glitter. Everything looked amazing! We made our own cupcake picks and cake topper, which she placed for us during set up at our venue. The prices were extremely reasonable and affordable compared to other outrageously priced vendors.
We cannot thank her enough for everything she did and we are beyond pleased with her services. I cannot wait to stop by her kiosk at the mall now and snag a cupcake!

Dominique did our wedding cake and while we went for a very simple theme for our wedding, the cake was anything but! I'm a very indecisive person, and she was able to help me get to the bottom of what I really wanted, while guiding me in the direction that would work out best. We wanted to incorporate Kahlua into our chocolate cake somehow, and while we talked about putting it in the icing, Dominique advised us that it may cause the buttercream to separate and we decided to have her brush the layers of the cake with Kahlua instead. It was hands down the best cake I've ever had - wedding or otherwise! She was responsive to all of my emails and we couldn't have been happier with our decision to use her as our baker!

Dominique made 2 custom cakes for my daughter's wedding at The College of William & Mary. They were both exceptional and made exactly as requested. The Groom's cake was an exact reproduction of an iPad. Every detail was perfect! The wedding cake was also exactly what we wanted, lemon cake with simple frosting with fresh flowers for decoration. Perfect! Of course, wedding cakes must be beautiful and also taste great. Both the taste and texture were excellent.
Dominique was a pleasure to work with and very responsive. I highly recommend her for any occasion!

Dominique did an incredible job on our wedding cake and groom's cake. She gave us exactly what we asked for. A lot of wedding cakes look pretty but there's nothing special to their taste. However, both of our cakes were beautifully made AND they tasted amazing! She went above and beyond in keeping in touch with us and making sure we were happy with what she was designing. She also followed up with us after the wedding - great communication! Also as a plus, she was always happy and upbeat, unlike a lot of our other wedding vendors who we felt like we were just another customer to. Dominique made us feel special on our special day!

I cannot say enough great things about Dominique!! Initially we corresponded through email, discussing minor details about our wedding day, the cake and whatnot. Then we met her for a tasting and consultation. Dominique sat there with us and chatted with us like we were friends. She also provided multiple samples for us to choose from. That was the hard part- choosing the flavors. I am not lying when I say that they were all good!!! I will say this, her red velvet cake is hands down the best I have ever had. Ever!! Dominique allowed us to use 3 different flavors for each layer of our cake, which also allowed us to make all of our guests happy! Everyone loved the cake. We had people call us after the wedding and they talked about how great the cake was.
As far as professionalism, we did not have any issues with Dominique. She is professional, punctual and talented. We will most definitely be using her again for our future bakery needs!!!

Dominique made a beautiful and delicious cake for my daughter's wedding. She created the cake exactly to our specifications, and her customer service was outstanding. What also really impressed me was the fact that one year later, my daughter and her husband came into town, and she was so accommodating and worked so hard to prepare their anniversary cake for them to enjoy when they arrived. Whenever we corresponded with her via email, she not only responded quickly and provided such helpful guidance and answers, but she also seemed genuinely excited to be working with us. She helped make the day very special and memorable. I would highly recommend Dominique to anyone for any occasion due to her impeccable professionalism and amazing demeanor.

Dominique was WONDERFUL! Everyone complimented me on how delicious our cake was -- and it was just as beautiful! My cake had the intricate piping I asked for, and the band of color I asked for matched my bridesmaid dresses perfectly. She was VERY flexible -- I had a crazy schedule but really wanted to do a tasting, and she was very willing to work with me to find a time that worked. And when I decided at the last minute to change one of the flavors in a layer, she didn't bat an eye! (and I'm glad I did, because it was seriously the best chocolate-peanut-butter cake I have EVER had!) I highly recommend her!! I can't wait until our one year anniversary so we get to eat the top layer she made for us to save :)

I’m so glad I got my parents’ 50th Wedding Anniversary cake from Sweet Chef! Dominique was responsive, accommodating and overall lovely to work with. The cake was exactly what I asked for and absolutely delicious! I’ll be ordering from Sweet Chef again, for sure!
