We hired Sweet by Design for our wedding and I’m still smiling about it. We ordered macarons, mini cupcakes, and a three-tier cake. Everything matched our vision perfectly. We talked to a few bakers, but only Sweet by Design truly got what we wanted and made it happen.
The tasting was our favorite and the price felt very reasonable. On the wedding day, the desserts were a total hit. The mini cupcakes and macarons disappeared before we could even grab one, and the cake was gone too. Not a single leftover.
Working with Melisa was a joy. She was kind, responsive, and made the whole process easy and stress-free. I’d recommend Sweet by Design to anyone who wants desserts that look beautiful and taste even better. -

Sweet by Design!
Sweet by Design did an amazing job with our cake! It looked and tasted so good I don't think we are going to be able to wait a year to eat the top of the cake! Melissa was great to work with as well. Very friendly and sweet. The prices were great as well. Would definitely recommend! -

The Sweet by Design cake was one of our very favorite parts of the wedding planning and the wedding! From inquiry to receiving tasting boxes to the day of, Melisa was a dream vendor to work with as she went out of her way to deliver the tasting boxes to us, took the time to plan out our vision and created the most beautiful cake for us. She was so easy to communicate with and made planning easy, including her sending tips on the tasting combinations and the cake table set up.
All of the cakes and icings we tasted were incredible. It was nearly impossible to narrow it down to our final choice (champagne with almond buttercream). Every flavor was perfectly moist and flavorful. At the wedding, our cake was absolutely beautiful and delicious and we received so many compliments, especially for the unique, flavorful taste.
I am so happy we chose to work with Melisa and I would absolutely recommend Sweet by Design to my friends and family! -

Wedding cake
Melisa was great to work with and always responded quickly when I had questions. She prepared an awesome sample box with plenty of delicious flavors. We had a hard time choosing but went with the chocolate stout/cream-cheese buttercream. There were so many compliments on the cake and we loved the look! One of our wedding guest said it was the best wedding cake he’s had. -

From start to finish, Melisa was an absolute pleasure to work with! My husband and I began the cake tasting process right in the middle of COVID, so we knew that were not going to have the same experience that most brides and grooms get to have when choosing a cake vendor.
My husband and I had tried two other cake bakers before we met Melissa and when we scheduled our tastings, the vendors would have us drive to their store, they would hand us a cling-wrapped plate with different cake flavors, and send us on our way to taste the cake at home. This was obviously not any fault to the vendors as they were trying to remain safe in the middle of a pandemic, but it still didn’t give us the cake tasting experience we had hoped to get.
Our experience with Melisa was a complete 180! Despite everything going on with Covid, she still took the time to meet us outside at a local Starbucks to give us a great tasting! She brought multiple plates that consisted of various buttercream and sheet cake flavors. It was wonderful and the experience felt “normal”. Aside from her samples tasting absolutely delicious, the time she dedicated to us is one of the main reasons we chose her as our cake vendor.
My husband and I order a 3-tier cake, two dozen cupcakes, and 4 dozen cookies (I have a big sweet tooth :P) and the price was unbelievable for everything that we ordered. We really wanted to give our guests a full dessert experience and Melisa delivered! When Melisa came, she set up our entire dessert table and it was stunning. As a bride, I couldn’t have asked for anything more!! Not to mention the desserts were DELICIOUS. There wasn’t much left on the table so that’s a pretty good sign our guests loved the food. I would highly recommend Melisa to any bride and groom looking for a cake baker for their big day! You won’t regret it. ❤️🍰 -

Let me start by telling you I usually hate wedding cake.... I really didn't want one but my planner suggested I meet with Melisa and then decide. WOW WOW WOW. Seriously the best cake ever. I even went with a fruit filling, no not the gross jelly kind.. she made an amazing creamy fruit filling that was the perfect touch. My husband also isn't usually a cake fan so she created us the most amazing cookie/brownie layered cake and it was soooo good and unique, everyone was raving about it! Melisa was amazing to work with designing my geometric cake & while rescheduling due to COVID-19. On our wedding day everything tasted just as good as the day of the tasting and I'm so happy we gave Sweet by Design a chance. Just book the tasting & I guarantee you'll book Melisa! -

We really enjoyed meeting with Melisa for the cake tasting, and she helped us find exactly what we wanted for the day. We had plenty of flavors to choose from and she helped us design the cake as well as made sure to find the flowers we were using in other parts of the reception to have real flowers on the cake. Melisa with Sweet By Design made the cookie cake for mine and my husband's wedding. I originally came across the idea of a cookie cake on Pinterest and fell in love with the idea! I'm not much of a cake person and neither is my husband, so we reached out to several vendors concerning a tiered cookie cake. Melisa not only responded faster than most other vendors, she set up a consultation right away, and made our cookie cake dreams come alive for our best day ever. It was a huge hit and just as good, if not better, than when we had our cookie tasting at our consultation in 2018. Melisa exceeded our expectations when she delivered our tiered cookie cake (within plenty of time), set it up and decorated it with the flowers left on the cake table. We highly recommend her for any special occasion, no feat is too big for this cottage bakery.

I hired sweet by design cake for our wedding cake and honestly I was BLOWN AWAY. First of all sweet by design cake is extremely affordable for the quality she provides. I showed Melisa a picture for inspiration but she honestly did way better than the picture! Not only was the cake BEYOND BEAUTIFUL, it was delicious! I'm not a huge sweets person so I thought that cake tasting was not going to be a fun experience for me but Melisas' cakes are so good! She hand makes everything and her icing are to die for especially her cherry one!!! I highly recommend booking her! -

Loved working with Melissa!! She is so sweet and talented. We were in love with our cakes and received so many compliments.
Melissa was so awesome to work with. Jake and I loved her! She made the cakes I described come to life perfectly. And were so delicious at that! We changed our mind several times during our cake tasting because all of the flavors and fillings were that good. She was sweet and patient with us as we went back and forth.
Her delivering the cake the day of was also very convenient. While we were getting ready for the day she came in to the venue and set everything up. She also made sure to show me pictures before leaving since I couldn’t leave the brides room in order to make sure I was pleased.
Melissa is such a sweet lady and her cakes are phenomenal. I will recommend her to all of my friends in the future! -

Wedding Cake Experience
I chose Melisa because of my prior experiences with her creating the most amazing and creative birthday cakes in the past. She truly out did herself for our wedding. Not only was the cake design amazing, the flavor of the cake outstanding. We received so many compliments on the cake. But was just as important, and certainly impressive was how professional she was with every detail of the planning and delivery of the cake. She made the initial design and decision making process so easy. Once we decided on the rough design details and delivery requirements, she took everything from there, and delivered the most amazing cake, and worked with the wedding planner to meet all her delivery requirements so there would need to be any involvement on our part. Melisa designed, created, and delivered the cake of our dreams that took so little effort on our part. I highly recommend Melisa for any wedding or specialty cake order. She will read your mind, and deliver your dream. She has done that for me on three separate occasions, and it has been so much fun doing that. -

Kristina Sent on 05/28/2018Melisa was amazing to work with! She was thorough, attentive, quick to respond, and had an arsenal of helpful advice when we were unsure what we wanted. Both the wedding and grooms cake were perfect and exactly how we imagined :) Most importantly they were DELICIOUS! Our wedding cake had two flavors: 1) white chocolate with raspberry buttercream and 2) lemon with lavender blackberry buttercream. Our grooms cake had chocolate fudge with chocolate buttercream. They were all incredible!! I can't recommend her enough :)

In fact, I had to snag some macarons for myself at one point when I noticed they were almost gone! When my blushing bride decided to surprise me with a groom's cake at our reception that was specific to my passion, which is writing, I was blown away by what Melisa came up with. She made an incredibly delicious hazelnut chocolate cake that looked like two huge volumes of my favorite two books, "Old Man and the Sea," and "The Lord of The Rings." They were both so perfect, many of our guests actually thought they WERE BOOKS and a few even tried open them, only to find the their fingers covered in the tasty goodness of the icing she used to create the whole illusion. They really were a huge hit at the reception. Melisa also created a little area of faux ink and parchment to the side to complete the effect. It was true bakery art, and something I hated to cut into...until I tasted how good the cake was, then I was kind of okay with it. Yum! Thanks, Melisa, for making our happy day all the more perfect.
