  Sweet Basil Catering

  
  Like most 2020 couples, my son and daughter-in-law had to make a few adjustments to their wedding date and venue. Ultimately, an intimate church ceremony followed by a small reception was planned; however, the restaurant supplying the food had to back out. With five days to spare, I called Sweet Basil Catering and had the pleasure of speaking with Amy. She didn't even hesitate to confirm her help! She prepared a beautiful buffet selection of delicious hors d'oeuvres, beef skewers, and various salads. Though our guest count was small, their compliments were MANY! Honestly, Amy is all around amazing!

  Sweet Basil Catering did an AMAZING, AMAZING job catering my wedding. My husband and I are so ecstatic that we went with them. The food was delicious! Many of our guests commented about how good and impressed they were with it; the variety, the amount and the flavors! The entire staff went above and beyond our expectations. They were so pleasant and professional, I had comments from our guests about the staff as well. From set-up to food and drinks to clean-up; we could not have asked for a better caterer!!!

  Sweet Basil Catering did an AMAZING, AMAZING job catering my wedding. My husband and I are so ecstatic that we went with them. The food was delicious! Many of our guests commented about how good and impressed they were with it; the variety, the amount and the flavors! The entire staff went above and beyond our expectations. They were so pleasant and professional, I had comments from our guests about the staff as well. From set-up to food and drinks to clean-up; we could not have asked for a better caterer!!!

  My daughter decided on Sweet Basil for her big day, May 16, 2015. We went for a tasting and with the combination of amazing food and her professional yet warm personality we decided to look no further. As far as the meal, we only knew that we wanted an Italian meal with a Mediterranean twist. Renee came up with an amazing menu. She provided us with an exceptional staff including a carving chef, six servers and two bartenders. They were nothing short of incredible, wonderfully funning, always providing smiles and polite conversation while working incredibly hard to please every single guest. Renee took care of every aspect, from the amazing food to the set up, break down and decor which worked beautifully with our wedding decorations. The value was great, actually we felt that she might have undercharged for her services. Renee has a way of making you feel so calm and comforted in knowing that it will all be taken care of....and it certainly was!! The guest gave nothing but positive comments regarding the service and the food. At the end of the night we knew that one thing was for sure, Sweet Basil was the perfect choice for a successful evening event!! We were and are so proud to have had her as or carter.

  The food is as if each meal were hand prepared by a chef in a restaurant. I honestly don't know how Amy (the owner) does it. This was an Indian-American wedding and everything from the veggie dishes to the fresh pasta, and of course the perfectly sized delectable desserts, was better than most meals I've ordered from fine dining, and she managed to feed over 100 people the same thing!! Her staff is happy and helpful (a welcomed surprise for catering) and as with a good hostess (which she was not but graciously acted the part as needed) Amy made certain that every detail was tended to to ensure the night ended with one happy bride and 100 happy bellies, which was absolutely the case!

  I was very comfortable with my daughter and my son in law's decision to use Sweet Basil Catering for their wedding. Amy was outstanding in helping them make decisions from set-up (even visiting the site with them), to the multicultural needs of all guests ( vegetarian and non vegetarian). The food was outstanding: passed hors d'oeuvres were scrumptious and beautifully presented by a smiling and informative staff. Dinner food stations were varied, colorful, extremely tasty and once again served to you by her staff. Bite sized deserts were passed including her suggestion to incorporate Indian sweets in the mix. All this added up to a wonderful evening and we have Sweet Basil Catering to thank for their contribution to the evening.

  Amy, the owner of Sweet Basil was amazing to work with. She has great taste, is a lovely person and runs a tight ship. She even did a pre event site visit with me to plan for all the logistics so that our wedding day would go smoothly. Sweet Basil's food is outstanding, much higher quality and more creative than typical catered fare. Amy was also very accommodating to alter the menu to suit our vegetarian and gulten-free guests. Amy's staff was great (not to mention, adorable!) and really went the extra mile for our guests. I would highly recommend Sweet Basil to anyone planning a wedding.

  Sweet Basil Catering catered my wedding and I feel like I won the lotto. It was a 2 part cocktail party with savory food first and then desserts afterward, passed and buffet style. Amy was patient, practical and helpful in all the planning. The service was amazing, it's like these guys were clairvoyant and anticipated my every wish, especially Chris, who is an amazing server. The food was impeccable, delicious, I'm still getting compliments and the clean up made everything so easy for our at home wedding. Just lovely.

  When we began exploring our options for a caterer in NY we contacted at least thirty caterers for quotes and proposed menus. I was initially impressed by Amy as her price quotes for each category of costs (service, food, rentals etc) were close to or beat any quotes we got from the others. The other caterers were willing to lower their prices to at least match Amys but was so impressed by her upfront honesty in an industry that usually tries to rip off everyone. We were also impressed by her menu suggestions as we tried to incorporate our heritage into the menu (Korean for Bride and Irish for Groom).
  Upon meeting Amy we were only impressed further. She had a settling sense of calm that immediately put us at ease given our extremely limited knowledge of what was required. As we gave her an idea of what we were looking to and our budget she assured us that she would be able to take care of everything (food, drinks, service, rentals, decoration etc) and within our budget. After the meeting she was instantly our favourite so decided to do set up a tasting with her. At this point we met with Amy and Jana (the decorator and assistant coordinator). The tasting went perfectly and we were also excited with Jana's ideas for the decor and decided to go with them.
  Over the next 7 months in the build up to the big day Amy was very attentive and ensured that a couple small changes (and growing guest list) were easily adapted and we met with her and Jana at the studio loft where both the ceremony and reception would take place. Jana had great plans for the decoration of the loft and insisted that we contact her anytime, day or night, if we had wedding thoughts that we felt we had to discuss with her.
  The day itself was absolutely perfect. I had always prepared myself with the expectation that nothing could be perfect and something would go wrong, so just hope its not major, I was wrong. Their hard work and professionalism showed on the day. The loft was beautifully decorated which everyone commented on. Jana was also able to prepare gorgeous bouquets and boutonnieres. The food was magnificent (we had a buffet), again everyone commenting how fantastic it was. Despite the having nearly 100 people to prepare food for, both our salmon and beef filet were perfectly cooked. We also had appetizers (which unfortunately we missed) which were said to be delicious and a cupcake cake which was both delicious and beautiful.
  The entire night passed without a hitch. Jana was always on hand to ensure that we cut the cake at the appropriate time, that everything was going as planned, without once seeming in any way intrusive. We honestly could not have been happier with their contribution to the day and are just thankful of how lucky we were to end up with Amy. We are delighted to have to opportunity to recommend Amy and her team as a thank you for the quality of their work.
