We had the PERFECT wedding at the Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers! Tucked away behind the Sky Rink of Chelsea Piers 61, Sunset Terrace has one of the most romantic views of the Hudson River in NYC. and proved to be an elegant setting for an unforgettable night. The food was incredible and the staff did a great job of anticipating our needs in the moment.

Sherwin Johnson and Haley Podimsky in particular made us feel like we were in very capable hands throughout the entire experience and they went above and beyond to meet our expectations. When we told them something that we would like, they would work with us to make it happen. They even helped set up our chuppah before the ceremony!

The all inclusive package was a dream since we didn't have to deal with any vendors. The only people we had to find ourselves was our photographer and DJ. On top of all that, the pricing was extremely competitive, which allowed us to have our dream wedding in New York CIty. We were even able to be under budget. We STILL have family members talking about how wonderful the night was nearly a year later!

We originally were concerned that you had to walk past the Sky Rink to get to the venue, but once we entered the actual space it quickly faded into the background. We barely noticed it on the night, even WITH a game taking place on the ice. It sort of gave a cool, secret speakeasy vibe.

We cannot recommend Sunset Terrace enough! If you are looking for a beautiful waterfront wedding in New York City, you can’t do much better than this!

My wife and I had our wedding in Sunset Terrace and it was such a beautiful experience. We rented the skating rink and the terrace. We found some professional skaters to perform and lead us to the ice to say our vows. I think we hosted a very unique wedding and I hope our guests felt the same way. Anna was AMAZING throughout the whole process starting from before the day of the event. She tried so hard to make sure everything would go smoothly for us and that we would be happy with the arrangements. She also was in constant contact with the vendors that we found and honestly made life so much easier for both my wife and I. Roxanne was also really pro-active on the day of the event and made sure I was actually enjoying the event (along with the guests). The whole team was amazing.

I do just have one small criticism in that the bridal suite was a bit cold and not what I expected 😅. I think it could use a little decoration and maybe a place to change clothes?

Our wedding at Sunset Terrace was absolutely perfect. The setting was incredible and the views during our happy hour as the sun set were unbelievable. The chelsea piers team took care of every detail. Shout out to Anna and Jamie. It was a perfect night. And we have gotten so many people tell us the food was the best they have ever had at a wedding! We cannot recommend it more highly. 

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience at Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers! This venue was absolutely perfect for our wedding of 100 people. From start to finish, the entire team was incredibly professional, organized, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. Everyone worked seamlessly with our vendors, which made everything run so smoothly.

And the view… absolutely breathtaking. The venue overlooks the Hudson River, and our guests could not stop talking about the stunning sunset. It created the most magical backdrop for our ceremony and photos.

When choosing a February in NY for our wedding weekend, we knew we wanted to incorporate the outdoors somehow, which meant we needed a great view with floor to ceiling windows. We wanted a minimalist vibe, with a room that spoke for itself and didn't need much to make it perfect. Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers was exactly that. The exposed piping with twinkle lights, the wooden floors, the garage door windows, and most of all, the gorgeous view along the Hudson. Sunset Terrace even delivered on the sunset, which made our ceremony all the more beautiful. While it was too cold to open the garage doors, our guests enjoyed spending time outside taking pictures on the wrap around terrace. The vibe was perfect.

Throughout the planning process, Sherwin Johnson and Jamie Wohl were rockstars. They were quick to answer all questions, offered feedback and suggestions, and understood all that we were looking for. Our wedding ended up being on the higher end guest wise of what the venue can accommodate, yet Sherwin worked with us to make sure that all of our guests would be comfortable. We were worried that the cocktail hour would feel crowded, or that our guests would have to wait too long for food or drinks, but none of those fears came true. Everything was perfect and a week later, our guests are still raving about the space, the views, the food, etc. Thank you to Sherwin, Jamie, and the whole Sunset Terrace team for making our winter in NYC wedding exactly what we had hoped for.

Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers is truly a hidden gem. It had exactly what I was looking for in a venue: a cooler 'edgy' NYC feel, water views with outdoor access, an 'industrial' type space that didn't feel like a traditional ballroom but was also elegant enough to feel special.

Now let's talk about the value - the fact that the price of the venue includes Sherwin Johnson as your wedding coordinator is worth every penny. As a marketing and events professional myself, I was on the fence about spending on a wedding planner/ day-of coordinator and Sherwin reassured me that that would not be necessary. He was right. The white glove service I received from Sherwin and his team not only on the day of my wedding but in the months leading up to the date was invaluable. I felt confident in choosing this venue from the moment I met him at our first site visit. He answered every email, call and question right away and truly helped make the planning process less stressful from start to finish. I cannot say enough good things about Sherwin. He is professional, creative, thorough and will listen to all of your requests without making you feel judged, crazy or annoying. He is every brides DREAM coordinator. Trust me.

The food: Our guests are still talking about how amazing the food was. We opted for a non-traditional sit down dinner for our wedding and wanted more of a cocktail party vibe, and Creative Concepts delivered, and then some. They were able to work with us on some out-of-the-box options and enhancements like oyster shuckers and a live sushi bar who stayed on site for an extended period of time. The food was truly delicious and the presentation was immaculate.

I could go and on with this review and still could not find enough positive things to say about holding my wedding at the Sunset Terrace. If you are looking for an NYC venue that will leave your guests talking about how amazing your wedding was - book this place! Do not let the ice skating rink adjacency prevent you from holding your wedding here - It only adds to the magic.

If you’re looking for an intimate city wedding that’s elevated and gorgeous without breaking the bank, Sunset Terrace is the perfect choice. My wife and I recently got married here and could not have asked for a better experience. Sherwin, the event coordinator, made us feel like family for the two years we spent planning our wedding and our guests felt so taken care of by his team from start to finish.

When we first saw the venue, I’ll admit that I was a little concerned about the walk past the ice-skating rink. I was worried it wouldn’t seem elevated enough, but because Sunset Terrace met all our other requirements, I came around. On our wedding day, it was so clear from the feedback of our guests that they enjoyed the bit of character added by the walk past the Sky Rink and other things going on in the building. The comment we got most was – “It just felt very New York.” Our guests meant this positively. Sunset Terrace strikes a balance of being elevated and elegant without being “bougie” or taking itself too seriously (which can be tough to find in the city.)

On top of that, you can’t go wrong, no matter what the weather has in store. The views at Sunset Terrace are stunning and with the indoor/outdoor option, it’s not possible for rain, fog, or clouds to ruin your day. We got to see the venue several times throughout the changing seasons, and it never stopped being gorgeous.

Sherwin and his team were incredible. They made us feel so loved and welcome, especially as a queer couple. Sherwin always asked us how we wanted to do things, never making assumptions based on unconscious biases. He was warm and made us feel so cared for from start to finish on our wedding day. During our cocktail hour, he had plates of hors d’oeuvres made for us and hid us away from our guests just so we could quickly eat in peace. On the subject of food, our guests raved about it. We went with a buffet-style meal based on Sherwin’s recommendation, and it did not disappoint. We got way more bang for our buck and our guests got to enjoy several different options as opposed to one fixed plate. We also received so much positive feedback about the waitstaff and bartenders. Everyone said they were so kind, generous, and efficient.

We cannot recommend Sunset Terrace enough and are SO thrilled with our choice to get married here!

There's plenty of venues to choose from in Manhattan but none compare to Sunset Terrace! We booked this venue back in 2019 but because of the pandemic we postponed our wedding. They were incredibly flexible with moving our date and accommodating anything we might need including accommodating food allergies. Not only does this venue offer stunning views and amazing food but the staff is incredibly kind and professional.  Every individual we've had the pleasure of working with at Sunset Terrace was so knowledgeable and helpful. They handled everything from seating, to linens, to food and drinks. This made wedding planning so much easier because we didn't have to hire many vendors. Day of coordination was amazing and kept us stress free. We were able to enjoy our day safely with our loved ones.
If you are on the fence about choosing Sunset Terrace because of the ice rink nearby I can promise you that no one will even remember it once they pass through the doors. We had our wedding in December and all of our guests are still telling us how much fun they had, how beautiful everything was, and how much they loved the food!

When my partner and I were initially looking for venues to get married, we knew it had to be in Manhattan since we are both natives to the borough. Aside from that we weren't really sure what we were looking for but when we saw Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers we knew we found a perfect match. The physical venue is hard to beat with stunning views of the Hudson River, plenty of getting ready room, onsite parking, and a huge ceremony/reception space. The space marries industrial vibes while remaining whimsical and romantic with the views. The staff we worked with were responsive, creative, and patient. Other venues we spoke with started with a list of don'ts-- no candles indoors, no live music, etc. At Chelsea Piers, they said, "tell us what you want and we'll do what we can to make it happen." They coordinated with our other vendors seamlessly. Our main priority was making sure our guests had a memorable time and two weeks later, we're still receiving glowing feedback about how much fun they had, how tasty and unique the food was, and how stunning everything looked. 11/10 would recommend this space for any wedding. Full disclosure if you do choose this as your venue: -The space is directly next to an ice hockey rink, so if you plan to get ready on site, bring layers! -Since it is an indoor NYC venue, they require all attendees to be fully vaccinated (woohoo!) -Prepare for the best day of your life!

The Sunset Terrace team made our wedding day completely wonderful.

They supported us during planning and kept the day running like clockwork. It is a perfect all in one service venue, no worrying about finding tons and tons of vendors for every little piece of the day, they've got it handled. And for the few vendors you will need to find (photographer, DJ, florist) they've got recommendations!

As a former event planner knowing that Sherwin and his team had everything so well in hand made the day so so much better for me. Recommend this venue to anyone looking for an off beat NYC venue with a killer view.

Sunset Terrace has a great view of the Hudson River. Our guests enjoyed the veranda and open feel. Our guests raved about the food and drink. Sunset's bartenders were excellent. We provided them two recipes for signature drinks and they had no problem making them for us. They work seamlessly with their caterer Neuman's who was also excellent. Our contact Jennifer was available to meet with us a few times before the wedding for tours and planning meetings. She knows the space very well and has great ideas, but still helped us achieve our unique vision. We self-decorated the space and whole staff there was very accommodating and flexible in scheduling drop off and pick up of the materials. It was the perfect space for our wedding.

unset Terrace was the perfect venue for our ceremony and reception. From the moment we walked in for our initial venue tour we were sold, and we never ceased to be amazed through the entire process. Jennifer, our event coordinator, was incredible. She responded quickly to emails, hopped on the phone, and was always available if we wanted to stop by the venue to discuss details. She coordinated the catering, the table linens, the floor plans, the bar (including signature cocktails), EVERYTHING. We were able to make this wedding our own, and we are so grateful for that. The venue itself is phenomenal. Three walls are pure windows with views of the Hudson, and the main wall of windows are garage doors that open up onto the deck. We were fortunate to have a beautiful spring day, and the windows stayed open the entire night! The name of the venue is very appropriate, because the sunset DELIVERED. We timed our first dance with the sunset, and it made the moment even more magical. Getting to the venue is a little weird because you have to walk around the ice skating rink, but it is absolutely worth it - you walk into an oasis and completely forget where you just were. I seriously cannot say enough good things about Sunset Terrace. Load-in and load-out of our supplies were seamless, the decorations we provided were placed tastefully and thoughtfully, the ceremony was flipped to the reception in record time, and everything was just perfect. And while it wasn't the least expensive option that we considered, it was still within our budget, and was worth every single penny. Highly recommend!

We chose Sunset Terrace as the venue for our Saturday evening wedding in July, and I honestly do not have enough good things to say about the venue and incredible staff at Chelsea Piers. We had the pleasure of working with Sherwin, who really helped us in planning and executing the vision for our day. He offered us incredibly valuable advice based on his many years of expertise that helped us plan a terrific event. On the day of, our guests could not stop gushing about how much they loved the gorgeous views overlooking the Hudson. We also had a wonderful experience with the caterer, Neuman's Kitchen, who gave us A+ treatment from the time of our tasting to the day of. The staff executed the day perfectly and many of our guests said the food was the best they had ever had at a wedding! All in all, I could not recommend Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers enough!

If you are considering a Wedding Cruise, look no further. This was a great value and these people make everything seem easy. They are so accommodating and professional - the best decision I made! Being that I was out of state, having an in-state coordinator was wonderful and Nicole was awesome.

We worked with Jennifer Walsh at the Sunset Terrace and she was phenomenal. From start to finish (over the last year and a half), she provided quick, helpful responses over both email and phone and was super accommodating. We were constantly blown away and impressed. The Sunset Terrace itself is a beautiful and extremely affordable venue for the city and we were really grateful with how much they were able to provide for us with regard to decor, set-up/break-down, and catering. The food is from Neuman's Kitchen and it was unreal, as were the cocktails. They even made special changes just for us based on our requests. Jennifer is experienced with creating detailed itineraries for the day and knew what would "flow" best for the evening. She also provided us with helpful recommendations for other vendors to use and reassured us when we were hit with the unexpected (e.g., knowing which vendors tend to be more creative/less detail oriented but not to be worried about that). I have nothing but wonderful things to say about her and the venue in general.

Sunset Terrace is a hidden gem! We just held our wedding reception there and had such a beautiful day. It exceeded our already high expectations. Where else can you have an event on the Hudson River that is fully covered but also allows for open-air and your guests to enjoy a terrace? It feels like such an escape in the middle of Manhattan.

Beyond the beautiful ambiance, we couldn't have asked for better staff and customer service. Sherwin was so responsive and proactive and worked extremely well with all of our vendors. He was a great partner throughout the process and made himself available for walk-throughs and as questions arose. On the day of our wedding, the whole staff was professional and helped meet all of our guests' needs. We recommend Sunset Terrace without any reservation!

We got married at Sunset Terrace in early June and it was PERFECT!!! Everyone loved the views, the warm breeze, and the sunset on the river. Our guests were super impressed and we had an amazing night.

I cannot sing my undying love for this venue loudly enough. The venue is absolutely stunning — we had a May wedding here and the balcony was open and perfect. Our guests absolutely loved the incredible view of the Hudson and the light breeze they got to enjoy in the terrace. Sunsets here truly are magnificent. What’s more, this is probably the most affordable/best value wedding venue in Manhattan. We were stunned by how reasonable the prices are here. We expect they are a little deflated because the entrance is not especially glamorous — you have to walk by the ice rink and its locker room to get here — but no one in our wedding seemed to mind and some of our guests thought it was pretty cool! But once you get inside the terrace, you literally cannot tell that there is an ice rink right next door. We had the absolute best experience working with Jennifer, the wedding coordinator at Chelsea Piers. Seriously, she is probably the best part about the venue. Not only did she seamlessly coordinate the setup of all of our vendors day-of, answer my incessant e-mails with detailed questions promptly and with a smile, but she also heroically tracked down the bakery I asked to provide cupcakes when half of the delivered cupcakes arrived overturned and completely ruined, single-handedly salvaging the cupcakes and securing new ones last-minute as replacement! She is terrifically reliable and I would not trust anyone else with my event. Last, Neuman’s Kitchen provides the catering and they are great. Several guests commented on how good the food was. It was so easy to set up a tasting and work with them without any of the hassle of coordinating an outside caterer. I have a few friends considering getting married in NYC and I have been trying to persuade all of them to use Sunset Terrace — I simply do not believe there is a better value in Manhattan!

Wow! My husband and I and our family and friends were so impressed with the Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers. The venue is incredibly beautiful and Sherwin was always very quick to respond to emails/phone calls, and just very on top of everything leading up to the day and day of. We can't say enough wonderful things about the venue and working with Sherwin. The food was absolutely delicious! We had a buffet dinner for about 95 and it was perfect! We were married April 21, had the garage doors down for the ceremony as it was a little to chilly outside for that time, but it felt fantastic to have them open by the dance floor as the night went on! My husband played hockey for many years, and half of the guests were visiting from Sweden, so they thought it was so cool to walk by the hockey arena as you entered the venue space. You will not be disappointed in selecting this venue as your wedding venue - it was truly wonderful from the planning process all the way until the end of the night! Thank you Sherwin and the Chelsea Piers team! I had the wedding of my dreams!!!

We had a great time on the cruise (it went by so fast!) - and there have been great reviews from our guests. My wife's family from Barbados can be brutally honest, so I know everyone loved the food since they have been raving about it. But the main part that I am sure kept everything "smooth sailing" event-wise was the presence of Bryan (event manager) and his work behind the scenes.
While initially hesitant, we are glad we decided to push past our budget and go with this event, and we will certainly recommend your team to everyone.

I cannot say enough good things about Sunset Terrace. We held our wedding here over Labor Day weekend and it could not have been more perfect. From the very beginning and throughout the planning process, Jennifer and Sherwin were so helpful in securing the space and we knew that our wedding was in expert hands. They were a dream to work with.

The space at Sunset Terrace is gorgeous. Located in Chelsea right on the Hudson River, the indoor-outdoor set-up was perfect and allowed us to have a "sort-of" outdoor wedding without freaking out about the weather forecast. The gorgeous sunset and view from the terrace also made decorating the space that much easier.

Last but absolutely not least, the service the night of the wedding was absolutely perfect. I cannot thank Sherwin of Sunset Terrace and the Neuman's Kitchen staff enough. My husband and I didn't have to think or worry about anything except each other and having fun. Our glasses were never empty, our guests were well taken care of, and the evening was executed just as we'd envisioned it. They were flexible in incorporating our vision of the evening; from the drag queen to the confetti drops...it was all perfect and we'll remember it for a lifetime!

The experience at Sunset Terrace was outstanding, from the initial tour of the venue to the very end of our wedding reception. The event manager Sherwin and coordinator Christine were attentive to our every need, and were even proactive in helping plan the wedding. My husband and I were actually a bit behind on wedding planning as the event approached, because we were both working and I was in grad school. Sherwin and Christine made sure we had every detail covered during the weeks leading up to our big day.

My husband Huntly was particularly impressed in one conversation where Sherwin helped us save money in one decorations area by suggesting we focus on something else that would actually make the guest experience better. It's clear that the team at Chelsea Piers was not trying to "up-sell" on anything, and were truly focused on making sure we had a great day without any unnecessary frills.

Sherwin and Christine were also great on the day of our wedding. From making sure all the transitions during the night went smoothly, to coordinating our wedding party, guests, and vendors between areas, and even the little details like keeping our drinks filled and plates full throughout the evening, it all made the wedding perfect. I couldn't recommend a better staff to have manage your wedding.

In terms of the venue itself, it's a beautiful setting that makes for a very romantic evening. We got married on a Saturday evening in June, and the view of the sunset over the Hudson was so pretty, and gave us some super great photo opportunities! And for value, we found the pricing to be one of the most affordable in the city.

WOW!! My husband and I used Sunset Terrace for our wedding venue and we could not be happier! From the moment we met Sherwin we knew we wanted our wedding there.

He was with us every step of the way and made it seamless from start to finish. He worked with my DJ who was also a major part of the wedding to make sure the timing of everything went smoothly.

My husband and I never had an empty hand or a empty stomach which was great. We actually were able to enjoy the day and I can honestly say I was so relaxed knowing everything was left in Sherwin's hand... if anything went wrong I surely did not know about it.

The view is to die for (my family is from overseas) so the setting on the Hudson river was perfect.

I used this venue for the reception, it's a really beautiful venue, few mishaps the day of but all in all I can't complain about the price the staff or anything! I would definitely recommend this venue, thanks to Jennifer, Patricia and Frankie for really making my reception a huge hit and making sure my guests were well fed and always with a drink in their hands!

This was the perfect venue for our wedding of 88 guests. The catering service they use, 'wichcraft was amazing. Our guests raved about the food. Christine and Sherwin our event planners handled all of our details and decorating instructions. Sherwin acted as a "day of coordinator" and made sure our day ran smoothly and that we were taken care of. This was a wonderful venue at a great price and they really take care of you.

Sunset Terrace turned out to be the perfect place for our wedding: the view of the river was gorgeous and nature obliged us with a wonderful sunset during our reception. Jennifer Walsh helped with everything, including making sure that we did not start the ceremony before a key guest, who needed handicapped access, was able to arrive. The staff was responsive to our needs and professional.

The catering by Witch Craft was excellent and the bar service, too. For Manhattan, the price was astonishingly reasonable and if you have out of town guests, it has a rare amenity: parking. And you'd never know once you get into the terraced room that there is a hockey rink behind it!

Chelsea Piers provided us with the most amazing experience for our wedding. From the time we first contacted them to inquire about having our wedding there to the follow up after the wedding. They were extremely responsive, organized, flexible and professional, as well as being so pleasant to work with. The space itself is beautiful, with amazing views of the Hudson all the way down to the Statue of Liberty on clear days. The food was provided by Jason's Catering and was also amazing, and all of our guests commented on how good it was. All of the staff helped everything run smoothly and the entire day seemed effortless. A special thanks to our coordinator, Sherwin, who kept the night organized, ensured that we were completely taken care of and made everything run perfectly. It truly felt as though we had our own wedding planner for the day and allowed us to relax and even eat! Our guests have continued to comment and how wonderful the space, staff and food all were and were amazed that this place exists in New York. I would definitely recommend this venue to everyone!

My husband and I chose SunsetTerrace as the venue for our wedding reception and could not have been more pleased. Eliese is amazing and you can tell she actually cares about the couple, not just the bottom line. The view is perfect, the food outstanding, and the service is out of this world. We have no regrets and are still getting compliments on how much fun everyone had! If the skating rink is causing you to have doubts, just put that out of your head! Once you're inside the rest of the world melts away and it's perfect, promise :)

My husband and I were married at Sunset Terrace on December 29, 2013, and were so happy we chose it as our venue! We felt comforted in knowing that everything was taken care of along the way, and we were so impressed with everyone's care and attention to detail to make the big day come together. Sherwin Johnson made sure everything went smoothly and that everyone was happy, so all we were left to do was enjoy each moment!

About the venue - This venue was the perfect setting for our wedding on 9/28/2013, reception only. This venue fit our needs because the catering was an affordable price per person, we were allowed to bring in food from outside vendors without cost, and the view spoke for itself. We were lucky to have beautiful weather and had all the doors open all night long

About the food - Jason's Catering - I worked with Diane and we did a tasting and friends have told me to not expect the same at the wedding since it'll be mass produced... NOT TRUE! All our guests raved about the cocktail hour and the entrees served. We did buffet style with a carving station because there are guests who want more than one serving and others who only want 1/2 a serving. Though it takes some time to get through the lines, in terms of meal satisfaction I think this worked the best. The mini grilled cheese and sliders were amazing. During dinner everyone LOVED the seared sesame seed crusted tuna and the BBQ steak. We had other desserts brought in from other vendors and coordinating with Sherwin and Diane was seamless. Make sure you run through everything with them ahead of time - we all wanted to make sure it wasn't going to impact other preparations for the night.

About the service - Sherwin and Jennifer were very attentive and practical with their advice and I 100% appreciated it since I was keeping to a budget and not having hired a wedding consultant or coordinator, it's good to have professionals keep you accountable for your decisions. My wedding cake never arrived - LONG story - but Sherwin was very professional handling the situation. Though he offered to have one of his guys find another, we decided we had enough desserts being brought in that it would be fine without.

Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers was the perfect venue for our reception. Right on the water with amazing sunset views and an outdoor terrace. The space was just right for our reception of 75 guests.

The food provided by Jason's Catering was top notch. Our guests said it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. This included entrees like filet mignon and lobster, as well as a separate carving station for stuffed pork loin. They also provided a huge assortment of desserts and pastries. The catering staff was very attentive and friendly.

Special thanks to Chloe Labiner and Jennifer Walsh, who helped plan and organize the event. They took care of everything, including working with our vendors to coordinate the big day. We did not have to worry about anything during the reception. We were able to relax and enjoy the evening with our guests.

Final shout out to Frankie, the operations manager of Sunset Terrace. It is rare to find someone who cares so much about his work, but Frankie is one of those people. You can see how much pride he has for Sunset Terrace in everything he does.

We loved everything about our reception and recommend Sunset Terrace and their staff to anyone looking for a beautiful, waterfront reception.

I just had my wedding here on 6/8/13 and could not have been happier with my choice of venue. I first heard about Sunset Terrace from New York Magazine's website, which listed it as a recommended affordable venue in NYC. It ended up being a great choice especially for my husband and me, as we are a young couple and not loaded with money.

The whole thing was perfect we were extremely pleased. Sherwin was a true pleasure to work with - he is so personable and willing to do whatever you need. To give a specific example: he took care of setting up everything for me. He was willing to store stuff for me the day before - and he was very flexible with all my needs: from flowers, to vendors, to drinks, etc. He was very responsive to all my emails. We didn't really need to start talking much until a few weeks before the actual date, but throughout the months, he stayed in touch and even sent us a Christmas card!

His team is awesome - I even got to know one of his wait staff, Frankie - really fun guy. The "Southern Gentleman" is delish!

The food was great - I thought so personally and we received many compliements from our guests as well. On the day of, Sherwin seriously made sure every guest was attended to - I heard this from my friends! He made sure my husband and I got to eat (which is rare for most couples on their wedding day!).

The venue itself is beautiful too. We were blessed with the perfect weather and got to have all the garage doors open. My husband and I danced on the terrace! The sunset was beautiful, the cool breeze was great - I am just so so happy we picked this place!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Sunset Terrace. Getting to the venue space is a tad unusual as you have to pass the gym areas and an ice hockey rink. That aside, Sunset Terrace is a large room in Chelsea, Manhattan on the water with floor to ceiling glass walls. For our wedding, they opened the windows/walls and our guests enjoyed hanging out by the water and watching the boats. Being able to bring in my own caterer was important to me, which happily they let me do. My contact, Linda, at Chelsea Piers, was very helpful in coordinating our vendors. Another plus: the venue lived up to its name; during our wedding ceremony, the view was of a beautiful sunset.

We needed to find a venue for our wedding and reception on an expedited basis during the frenzy the Christmas holidays. We had a very tight deadline of 3 weeks and were understandably concerned. However, after meeting with Event Coordinator Sherwin Johnson, we were convinced that the Sunset Terrace was the perfect spot for us. The venue was absolutely beautiful and offered a great deal of flexibility. Sherwin was instrumental in the planning process, and accomodated every request, despite the tight deadline. The final product was a fairytale wedding that looked like it took months to put together. All of our guests were blown away by the gorgeous venue and praised the quality/presentation of the food. Thank you to everyone at Chelsea Piers for exceeding our expectations and giving us the wedding of our dreams!

I would recommend this venue to EVERYONE. Lauren McCourt is so amazing! She answered each and every one of my emails, from big questions to very small ones. She did everything we asked and I wasn't nervous or stressed from the second we got there until the end of the night. The space was AMAZING. The lights at night twinkling over the river was just perfect. Everyone kept talking about it and how it was the fanciest wedding they have ever been to. We can't say enough about Lauren, she is so professional, efficient and quick to respond, I couldn't have done it all without her! I recommend Chelsea Piers Sunset Terrace to everyone wanting an amazing NYC wedding for an affordable price.

We visited at least half a dozen event spaces in Manhattan for our wedding and reception, and we decided that Sunset Terrace was a perfect fit for us. While the room was empty, and it was a freezing cold day on the water during our first visit, we knew this spot had so much potential for our spring wedding. Our Event Coordinator Sherwin Johnson gave us the grand tour and we were sold.

The space is gorgeous, and the decorating options are limitless. To be perfectly honest though, we were still a little skeptical about having their outside caterer come in. This was going to be the deal breaker, and we just felt like it probably wouldn’t work. Welcome to three or four days later when we went to our tasting. Had we known it would be this good, we would’ve skipped lunch! We were absolutely blown away by the quality and presentation of the food, and the deal was done.

One more bit of skepticism – we had decided to plan the entire wedding and reception without the help of a planner, so we were naturally quite nervous about how everything would unfold. We could not have asked for a smoother day thanks to Sherwin and his entire team. From start to finish, the entire event couldn’t have gone any smoother. Whether it was introducing us for the first time or making sure our plates were full and glasses overflowing, we never had to ask for a single thing.

MOST IMPORTANTLY – our guests had such a wonderful time, and we’ve heard nothing but praise whether it was the ambience, the view, the hospitality, the food, the band, etc…

One note for any future newlyweds – we unfortunately didn’t have the luxury of having a late spring/early summer wedding, but if you can, there are floor to ceiling windows which can be opened in the warm weather. We can only imagine how that would’ve been.

The sunset terrace was an amazing venue. We had our wedding there last Saturday and it was fantastic - we had sunset views as our ceremony concluded which were incredible.

Don't be turned off by the ice rink entrance. It makes for good conversation and once you're in the venue you don't even know it.

Finally, Lauren McCourt is the most incredible venue coordinator you could ever have. Definitely ask for her if you're considering having your wedding there. She sorted everything ... And I mean everything. As typical new Yorkers we both work long hours and I spent the last couple of months flying back and forth to London every two weeks for work so had very little time to organize things. She dealt with everything and it all turned out amazingly. Plus on the night itself she helped with everything thrown her way, including fixing my dress when someone stood on it and broke all the bustle ties. She really made our wedding fun and memorable for everyone.

The Space: Our guests our still talking about how incredible the venue was! The actual sunset there was worth every penny! It completely lives up to it's name and it was incredible!

Yes, you have to walk by an ice skating rink but 1) you don't notice it at all once you're in the space and 2) for our summer wedding it was a perfect place to cool off for any guests that needed it and 3) so what! :-)! It was truly the most perfect setting for our wedding and reception and I am so grateful to the hubby for finding it. I couldn't be happier and I wouldn't have changed a thing!

Lauren: From the first time we met her and through the big day Lauren was nothing but personable and professional. Emails were answered quickly and questions were never left open. We were more than relaxed and comfortable going into our big day knowing that everything was in her capable hands. If anything went wrong on our day we have absolutely no idea!

For us and our guests the ceremony and reception were flawless...perfect! Lauren and the entire staff were incredible and we can not even begin to thank them enough for everything they did to ensure that we had the most perfect, amazing...

When we began our search for our wedding venue, we knew we wanted something different, sophisticated and cozy, with an amazing view. The Sunset Terrace was perfect! The ice rink is a bit unconventional, but was an amazing “conversation piece” for our guests. Our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. The staff at Sky Rink were wonderful and the food was spectacular! The maître de was superb – we had absolutely no worries the day of! The comments poured in from all our guests. How glad we are that we had our wedding at Sunset Terrace. We only had two weeks to plan our wedding and I had many doubts. Although our Event Coordinator assured me that our small number of guests and the size of the space will work well - I had my reservations. After leaving his office, I immediately remembered everything we hadn’t discussed. To my surprise, Sunset Terrace took care of it! When we arrived that day, everything was in place exactly how I envisioned. The room looked beautiful, the bar was decorated and the tables were set up precisely how I wanted. We could not have asked for a better night. The team was responsive and extraordinarily accommodating. Guests raved about the venue and the food! We chose Chelsea Piers Sunset Terrace for a couple of reasons. 1) The location - just WOW! The sunlight beaming off of the river and the gorgeous views are breathtaking. 2) Inclusive Package - having a coordinator that assists with the details and day of is huge. Our coordinator, Jennifer W., was amazing! She was tremendously helpful throughout all of the planning stages and made excellent recommendations when we were not sure what direction to go in!

Our wedding was truly everything we wanted, it was one of the best nights of our life! The team at Chelsea Piers was wonderful and I can't thank them enough!

We are still on cloud nine from our wedding at Chelsea Piers Sunset Terrance. Jennifer and Frankie were always there for me whenever I had any questions or concerns. They really care and love what they do and it really shows in their incredibly dedicated hard work. The food, the space, the lighting, everything was perfect. I loved the fact I went to Frankie and Jennifer and asked for them to open one of the windows and it was instantly done. They are so responsive. Everyone from the bartenders to the servers wanted to make sure we experienced a perfect day. Sunset Terrace is like being in a whole other world in a wonderful way. The atmosphere is like no other. You will love your big day!

Sherwin was our guide through the process, from the food, to the flowers to the nearby hotel. You don't need a wedding planner with Sherwin by your side. He will recommend whatever and whomever you need and they are great. The food catered by Jason's was delicious, the flowers and decorations by City Iris were gorgeous and the nearby Hampton Inn was reasonable, newly redecorated and convenient.

Our guests raved about the wedding location, even in the rain. They liked walking by the ice rink. And the bride and groom loved all of it. If you don't want a room with a chandelier and want something tasteful and different, this is the place for you.

Sherwin and Jennifer went out of their way to be helpful, to meet at a convenient time and to walk me through things. They made it all easy and the wedding day was meaningful and wonderful.

Lauren McCourt and the Chelsea Piers staff were terrific in the planning and execution of our wedding. The ice rink entrance is really the only weird thing about this place. Once in the Sunset Terrace room, guests love the views and the space. It is great for an intimate wedding -- we had about 120, which is the most the room can really comfortably hold. As others have done so before us, we cannot say enough good things about working with Lauren. She's a pro at what she does, and the patience with which she conducts herself, despite what has to be a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.

I really would not have changed a thing about our wedding at The Sunset Terrace. Lauren McCourt was our event coordinator and I can not say enough fabulous things about her. She was professional, responsive, attentive, fun and personable. She is someone any bride would LOVE to work with.

The terrace itself is beautiful. Georgous views over the Hudson, with floor to ceiling windows that can be pulled up to allow for what feels like a loft-like outdoor wedding, there really are not any other spaces like this one! It is unconventional and not the typical country club look and that's what makes it so great! The set up and decor on our wedding day was exactly to a "T" what we discussed and planned for, it really could have not been more perfect.

Jason's Catering was our caterer and we worked with Kathy Fallon who is just wonderful. We were able to offer our guests fun apps during cocktail hour and different main course choices than the standard wedding fair. Though the food tasted great, our only complaint (if you could even call it that) was that the food came out slower than we hoped. We really wanted to keep the evening moving so our guests could have fun however this was something only we noticed.

I would hands down recommend this venue to anyone who wants a trendy NYC wedding venue with georgous views, great food and a unique atomosphere.

We got married at the Sunset Terrace on the first weekend of June. I can't say enough good things about the staff here, they helped us out every step of the way. At times we felt lost during the wedding planning process but working directly with Sherwin Johnson was a blessing, he helped us out with EVERYTHING, made great suggestions, followed up on everything, always returned my calls and e-mails, was extremely pleasant and on the day of the wedding he was always there, making sure we had drinks and food and also making sure that things ran smooth and according to schedule. I would not have been able to enjoy my wedding if it wasn't for him. Thanks again!

Sherwin and Jennifer are a wonderful team. This space is fantastic - great views, perfect for small-to-mid sized weddings and the staff is amazing. Walking through the hockey rink is a little strange, but fun! Overall, loved this place and would recommend to anyone!

Lauren McCourt was a bride's dream - so helpful that she reduced my stress on a very stressful day. I could not have asked for a better event coordinator. She was extremely helpful during the preparation and on the day of.

The venue itself was stunning, especially bc the weather was particularly beautiful on that day. I received many compliments on the view and the venue, even despite the unconventional hockey rink area.

The reason I am giving 4 stars for the quality of service was that the food was not as great as I had desired - Jason's catering was extremely helpful and accommodating, even incorporating a korean ethnic dish for me. Their catering service was also great on the day of, but the dinner was not as great as I desired.

Again, highest praises to Lauren McCourt. I would recommend her to anyone and I have done so recently!

My husband and I got married Labor Day Weekend and I couldn't have asked for more. The venue, staff and event was absolutely amazing. Many of our guests had come from out of town and it was their first trip to NYC. The view was stunning and the night was flawless.
Sherwin and Frankie were the most helpful and made the night go smoothly and the set up perfect.
To get married in NYC this was the most affordable venue but not only that you get more than you pay for. We were able to get married in NYC and stay w/in budget due to ST.
I recommend this venue to everyone I know and hope to be a guest at a wedding soon!

We just had our wedding there, I learned about this venue years ago from another event, Matthew was a great help throughout the wedding, before and after, the catering company they used was nothing but excellent (Ask for Diane).
Just make sure you pick a sunny clear skies date and you should be in perfect viewing spot around the sunset time.
Worth saying, that they let me use their high speed internet to stream my wedding live, here are our wedding videos from there: http://alexnsharon.com/watch-live/ and also let me stream all the tweets and hashtags, I'm even thinking to offer my services with them on a daily basis so every newly weds or live events can be streamed live and utilize social media the way it should be. Enjoy your events :-)

First off, the view is priceless. You can see from the Statue of Liberty to the first bend of the river, all of the river traffic, the lights of Jersey City and Hoboken... Insta-worthy, yes, but so much better without a lens in front of you.
Secondly, the food is *very good*. The buffet menu is diverse, the selections delicious, and the staff very accommodating of dietary needs. (At the tasting, the waiter overheard me mention a cilantro allergy, and immediately had the kitchen remove all cilantro from my offerings. It was not *my* allergy, but my stepmother's, but I appreciated the quick thinking!)
Thirdly, Jennifer is an *AMAZING* coordinator. She's super helpful and knows her stuff. We had an unusual request - we wanted to do a skit with a swordfight (we are actors). Jennifer didn't blink an eye. She even gave us an extra rehearsal in the space, so we could make all our safety adjustments.
Fourthly, the staff were wonderful. Super attentive, extra helpful, and so very kind.
My husband and I couldn't possibly have imagined a better day, and Sunset Terrace and Jennifer were the #1 reason why. Our families were delighted!

I'm sure most people say that there wedding was perfect and that everyone had a great time - regardless of where they had it - so I won't start with that. What I can tell you is that the Sunset Terrace is absolutely stunning spot for a wedding of 65-100 people. Our ceremony and reception was on the Hudson river - and by on I mean ON it. The venue was decorated cleanly and tastefully (before flowers and linens). Since we had nice weather we had all the glass doors open so people had the sun slowly sinking to our first dance - they were out on the balcony having drinks, they were looking at the boats sailing by. In the evening people remarked that they felt like they out at sea. We wanted something memorable and I think everyone will remember it. Additionally, the price probably should get a 10.0. You will not find any place as memorable for the price they offered.

Now to the downside. You do need to walkthrough the ice rink to get to the venue. You do not have extra rooms for powdering your nose and smoking cigars. In reality though, you don't care - in fact the jokes about seeing an ice rink melt away the moment you step out onto the reception floor and you have nothing but the Hudson River in your view. The beauty of it is that you shed all that unnecessary trappings and front what is most important - a place that gets your family and friends in a space that is open and engaging.

Lauren at Chelsea Piers was amazing through the entire process. She was attentive and caring and professional. We kept on waiting for that classic "thing to go wrong at every wedding", and it never did. She also was great to the guests as well as our photographers, dj, etc. Our DJ actually said "This venue is amazing, I've never had staff treat me so well".

Not that it is all things to all people, if you are looking for Oheka castle then it might not be a good fit - but if you are looking for amazing waterfront wedding that gets all of the truly important things right - this place is it (at any price) - the fact that it is so reasonable makes it remarkable.

Our event manager, Sherwin, was phenomenal. He helped us figure out the timing of the night as well as making sure everyone was in their place when they were supposed to be. The night of, he made sure we had food and drink readily available and even came out onto the dance floor with a refill.

The venue was beautiful. The ceremony was right around sunset and it was absolutely breathtaking. There is a balcony that wraps around to give us and guests fresh air and a lovely view.

They work with a caterer (that they coordinate with) and the food is fantastic. They were super accommodating about dietary needs and allergies.

The Sunset Terrace has breathtaking views and such a flexible space it can accommodate so many different configurations. The wedding I attended was set up so that the reception took place with the water in the background. It was so beautiful. I found the staff to be super friendly and accommodating. The only thing I would mention is that the entrance to the terrace is behind the skating rink. Be sure to have great signage and to bring a shawl. Other than that, this is an amazing place to have your wedding or corporate event!

Sunset Terrace is an amazing venue with spectacular views. Jennifer Walsh worked with us throughout. She had lots of great ideas and was flexible when we wanted things changed. She and her crew created a beautiful night for us and our guests. Several local guests said the Sunset Terrace was one of the most beautiful places they'd ever been in the city. Out of town guests were blown away by the venue and views.
The food from Neuman's Kitchen was delicious. Most people said the food was the BEST they had ever had at a wedding. Neuman's was also flexible and accommodated some of our special requests - notably adding some outstanding macaroni & cheese! The service from Neuman's was great too.
I didn't give five stars around because the guy who does the AV was unprofessional and a jerk. Our recessional music was barely audible. We had a video to show during the ceremony and it stopped and had to be re-started. He was extremely rude to my sister about the video as well.
Overall, Sunset Terrace is a fantastic venue with unparalleled views, amazing food and great service.

Everyone should know that the only downside of this venue is that the entrance is through the sky rink. During the ceremony and reception it is very quiet and private plus the view is simply breath taking. The down side is during cocktail hour you will have to go to the space near the hockey rink. You cannot see them because of the curtain but during our wedding you can hear the hockey puck hitting the plastic enclosure. Which is kind of annoying. Jennifer is very responsive once your wedding date is near. She is very helpful and coordinates with all the vendors.

Sunset Terrance is one of Manhattan’s best kept secrets. A beautiful venue on the water, it’s been over two months since the wedding and our guests are STILL raving about how nice the venue and ceremony were. They are fairly inclusive (food/drinks/seating/linens) and we liked that we could have the ceremony and the reception all in one spot. Creative Concepts was their caterer, and the food was DIVINE. They were very flexible in accommodating different dietary needs. It is a wonderful space.

Great venue. Beautiful location! For the most part all went well.

Aside from that we had some timing issues when it came to toats which delayed the band.

We booked this place for our wedding and everything went smoothly... at the beginning. Then, we had a few major issues that made the planning and the evening less than what we'd hoped.

1. We asked multiple times whether there was going to be a hockey game the day of our wedding, and they assured us in 3 separate times to 3 different people that the events would be closed, and if there was an even in the hockey ring, we would not be able to hear anything. That was simply not true. They were playing loud music in the sky rink, which we had to bring up to the attention of staff and they asked for them to shut it off. Someone was also practicing PKs for over an hour - which meant loud banging noises could be held during the ceremony, reception, and afterwards. Not nice. The most unsettling part, however, was that when my husband and I were leaving the venue, we walked next to the ski rink where there were over 20 people in hockey gear, about half of them in the process of GETTING CHANGED. We were not expecting to have to weave through 10 bare-chested, stinky men just to get out.

2. It was very hard to get in touch with our "go to" person. We had to send multiple emails, and even call and text repeatedly to get basic information, without any responses for sometimes weeks.

3. We got a bridal suite and a groom suite which share a staircase. There was no bathroom in the bridal suite - the closest one is located on the hallway downstairs next to the cocktail area. Shared staircase means someone had to keep watch (we didn't want to see each other before the wedding), and when you go to the bathroom, arriving guests will see you.

4. It was hot and we had to ask during the event for them to open up the garage doors - again, having to follow up constantly.

5. Bridal suite was kept locked, so whenever we went back to it we had to ask if it was open - every time we were told yes, but it was locked and had to wait for someone to show.

Only plus: THE FOOD

PROS:
*The view and balcony.
*The wait staff was friendly and professional.
*The food was very good. You have to use the venue’s caterer (Jason’s Catering) and the owner of that company is a very nice man and was an absolute pleasure to deal with.

CONS
*Our venue coordinator. The venue coordinator, Laura all of the positive reviewers loved, is no longer there. We were given someone else who was incompetent and unprofessional throughout the entire process.
*Sunset Terrace does not have air conditioning. On a day over 75 degrees, you and your guests will be uncomfortable even after the sun goes down. The venue does not allow you to rent or bring portable units.
*The room where the ceremony and/or reception is held is next to another room they call the Club Lounge. When in the Club Lounge for cocktail hour, your guests are next to an ice hockey rink. The evening of our wedding there were practice games going on. Some brides may not be happy about the noise.
*The restrooms are public and you will be sharing them with the people there for the ice rink. The room for the bride does not have a restroom.
*Our contract had many errors before being finalized and even in the end, it was incorrect. Adding to your menu will cause the price to increase significantly. In the end, you are not saving much at this “affordable venue”.
*There was a big issue with the timing of our food and some was cleared before some of our guests had a chance to eat. One menu item was left out completely.

IN SUMMARY: depending on your coordinator, we could possibly recommend Sunset Terrace for a wedding. However, we would never recommend it for a summer wedding. Too many of our guests had to sit near the ice rink or on the balcony because of the heat, and the dance floor stayed pretty empty all night. Sadly, if we could go back knowing what we know now, we would have chosen another venue.
