Best desserts ever!
Lastly, the dessert from Sun of a Cake really made the night special. The cake and extra desserts we ordered from Sun of a Cake really highlighted how unique and special our day was. We didn't go for traditional flavors, and instead leaned into the fall season. We got a three tier cake that featured pink lemonade cake and icing in one tier, pumpkin and mocha French buttercream in the second, and chocolate coffee cake with raspberry mousse and French buttercream on the outside. We also ordered an anniversary cake with the chocolate coffee cake and raspberry mousse. They were all truly divine and we are so looking forward to our anniversary cake. the French buttercream is just a lighter not as sweet version of the American buttercream and is just truly special and mouth watering. The extra desserts that we ordered were definitely just as good and gave guests an extra something for those who don't enjoy the usual wedding cake.

The Perfect Wedding Cake
My wedding cake from Son of a Cake was absolutely stunning! It was elegant, beautifully decorated, and incredibly moist , truly one of the best cakes I’ve ever tasted. There wasn’t a single piece left after the wedding, which shows just how much everyone loved it! I showed her my inspiration photo, and she brought it to life perfectly down to every detail. She was professional, responsive, and made the entire process so easy. The cake not only looked breathtaking but also made our special day even more memorable. I’m so grateful for her talent and passion, and I’ll definitely be using her again for future celebrations! 💕

I called LaTanya early November 2024 for our wedding December 28th 2024. When she asked me when my wedding was , I told her and she was surprised it was so close as she was busy. I am in my 50’s and didn’t realize you have to book things far out. Latanya said I can help you. Her customer service is outstanding and the cake and cupcakes were absolutely delicious!!! La'Tanya was so accommodating. She even drove from Charlotte to Winston-Salem to bring tastings to us. She is very affordable and her desserts are beyond delicious. There were no desserts left! You need to hire Sun of a Cake for any event you need!! LaTanya’s creations are literally the most amazing sweets I’ve ever tasted, they’re so lovely! She was the first person we went to when hiring for our wedding cake, and after doing a taste test for different flavors we picked out and she created for us, it was CLEAR we didn’t need to taste test wedding cakes with anyone else. We hired her basically immediately! All of our guests raved about LaTanya’s delicious lemon cake and they couldn’t get enough of her blueberry lavender icing!

My daughters wedding
We used Sun of a cake for my daughters wedding for 150 guests. We could not be more pleased with the quality and the taste of all the desserts and wedding cake. I wish I could shove a slice of LaTanya's cake into everyone's mouth reading this review! Once you have a tasting with her you will know this is it! I loved working with her and her execution was everything I imagined. I love the set up and the details on my wedding day. LaTanya was the total package between her professionalism, friendly demeanor and exquisite eye for detail. She took a google search, ran with it and made it come to life but even better than we could have imagined. I highly recommend this company for any events specially weddings. Ms. Latonya is phenomenal excellent in service and specially customer service. She made sure everything that i wanted she make it happened. Shes on time and she answered all my questions and very responsive. Really appreciate her and her work. Cake is fantastic icing her cream cheese frosting is awesome and not super sweet like any other cakes you buy. Decoration is a winner.
I would definitely coming back for any events im going to have.

Best Cake Tasting Ever!!!
This is the best experience I have ever had in doing a cake tasting. LaTonya provided the best customer service a person could ask for. She was organized, gave great presentation, and very friendly. Small ceremony cake
I simply adore this lady! Not only did she make an exact replica of the cake requested, she delivered it to the door personally and it was delicious and moist. I wish she could bless Virginia with her presence because she is wonderful! I would recommend her to anyone for any occasion.

Worked with me through the last minute
La’Tonya went above and beyond for our wedding! We had to make last minute changes to our wedding because of the pandemic and she was flexible and very understanding through all of it! Amazing experience
I contacted Son of a cake just 3 weeks before our wedding. My Mother in law was in charge of the wedding cake and she waited until last minute to tell me she still had not ordered our cake. I was in a jam. I called several Bakeries & searched online. Almost everyone I tried was unavailable or just too expensive. I also needed the cake to be delivered to the reception location. I was asking for a lot. Almost a cake on demand!
I was getting worried we would have no wedding cake.
I came across Son of a cake's page. I read the reviews and I liked what I read. So I called. La’Tanya answered. She was so easy to talk to. I asked if she did wedding cakes and she said yes. She was new at them but very confident In her abilities. With all the reviews I read I had no doubt. I then explained that the wedding was in 3 weeks. Right then I thought I was out of luck. But she said she could do it. Then I asked if she would deliver it. She asked where to. I said Chester SC . At that time I did not realize she was in Concord NC over an hour away. La’Tanya said she would deliver it. I could not believe how easy this was going.
I simply wanted a 3 tire wedding cake with vinalla butter cream icing. I had a idea of the look I was looking for. I sent a photo of the cake. She said she could do it. She offered a cake tasting. But with just 3 weeks left we had way to much going on to take the trip. I trusted the cake would be good.
I had messed up and paid her twice. The online app was one I was unfamiliar with and I really messed up big time. I contacted her right away. She was completely understand and even worried for me. She was willing to come bring me the money i over paid in person that very afternoon. I was so surprised and shocked at her kindness and caring nature. We just ended up using a cash app to resolve the problem. But the fact that she was willing to go above and beyond to help me was something I never expected.
The day of the wedding she delivered our cake.
It looked amazing almost exactly like the cake in the photo I sent her.
The cake was absolutely delicious. Every one loved it and even too extra home. Its been 3 days now and a few people have called and said how there cake is still so fresh and moist. I will definitely be hiring Son of a cake again. La’Tanya is so sweet and thoughtful. I recommend her to anyone in need of a tasty treat.

La’Tanya made my wedding cake and it was AMAZING! Not only was the cake absolutely beautiful, it tasted sooo good. It was a really big hit at our wedding. The cake that she baked for my wedding was completely different from what I asked her and on top of that she transported the cake to my venue and cracked on the way there. It was all crooked and patched up. Do not recommend this woman whatsoever. Each layer was supposed to have filling, I was never able to find in so please stay away

Very unprofessional
I thought La'Tanya would was okay when I went to the cake tasting. Even though she was late and she didn't tell me a head of time that the cake tastings was going to be in her home. For me I just thought with COVID something like that should be communicated. Be I let that go and enjoyed the tasting. The cake was very tasty. I went with a family member and my bridesmaid. They asked her if she had a plan to make sure the cake would be done and delivered, they were concerned about emergencies like Covid or something. Her answer was vague, which they thought was rude and disrespectful. She did say after that once she has made a commitment to do something she was going to do it. So I trusted that. Choose to give her a chance and hire her. Big Mistake!!!! I paid the deposit and she sent me the contract around April 15th. She asked me to print it, sign it, and return it to her. I didnt have a printer so had to wait until I could go print it. Throughout my wedding planning I have two kids, a full time job, and school. I have communicated that to all my vendors, and the fact the I will get back with you the second I can. Remember this....She texts me and sends a message on May 5th asking what time my reception starts. I was at work when I got the message. I got busy with work and the kids so the next day when I got to check my email messages. She had sent me a very disrespectful message stating that since I have not responded to her or sent her the contract back signed and dated. At this point her next course of action was to refund me my money. I messaged her back telling her that I was going to pay the rest of the balance that day and when my reception was. I did that on my break around noon and around 530 she had cancelled my invoice. I had just went to the bank so I could pay the remaining balance( which wasn't due for 3 more days). I was so annoyed, but my fiance tried to message her back letting her know the situation that we were in and hoping that we could continue with her. She never answered back nor did she return my deposit. Honestly I was not expecting her to return my money, I thought it was strange that she said she would return it, I didnt believe she had any intention on returning my deposit anyway so why say that you will.
I told me bridesmaids what happened and they all think that she did that because my order was for a small inexpensive cake. She probably got an order for another cake that was more money. Cancelled mine so she could do the other order for more money. I dont know if that's true, I just know that what she did and how she acted was HORRIBLE. I am two weeks away from my wedding, and I live 3 hours away from where my wedding will be. All my vendors know that I live out of town including her. I am not a big cake bride. The cake can look like whatever as long as it tastes good, so I am can get my cake from anywhere and not care. Plus even though I dont live there, the wedding is in my hometown so I know the area and where I can go last minute. I wrote this review for other brides, because you should hire vendors that you can trust. You are the customer and your needs should be met not the other way around. Its your wedding, that you are paying for. I think people should know the kind of customer service and reliability that she provides. The closer you get to the big day the less stress you want to have.
