Delicious and gorgeous

Gone are the days where everyone just gets "wedding cake" flavored cake! Sugaree sent us home with three different cake options and what felt like a million different mousse fillings to try, and the option to have between just one or a few different mousse fillings in each slice. We ended up going with a "light and sweet" cake and a "dark and rich" cake so everyone had something they would love.

Additionally, Sugaree was even so kind to place our flowers on our cake the day of as well, since we didn't officially hire our own florist in town. They placed the flowers so beautifully! The bottom layer of the cake even looked like stone, and was PERFECT for the wild zoo theme we were going for. Recommend!!

Heavenly Flavors

Our cake tasting with Sugaree was great! They gave us a box to take home with three cakes, 7-8 filings, and their buttercream. The cake was scored into bite sized pieces so that we could try tons of flavor combinations. Usually we are not chocolate cake people, but Pat’s chocolate cake was the best cake I had ever eaten. We decided to hire Sugaree, so we met with Pat to go over our flavors and cake design. Pat was easy to work with throughout the whole process. On our wedding day, the cake looked beautiful and tasted heavenly. Our flavors were chocolate cake with tiramisu and cappuccino fillings and pound cake with raspberry filling. Our guests all raved about how delicious it was. I would definitely recommend Sugaree!

We loved how they did the cake tasting. We decided on vanilla cake with a layer of strawberry mousse and then a layer of chocolate mousse filing. We also had a chocolate cake with a later of hazelnut mousse and a layer of cappuccino mousse. The icing is the real buttercream, not the kind that's loaded with powdered sugar. Everyone raved about the cake.

Went recently to pick up our bride box so that we could take it home and taste the different options Sugaree offered. We loved that they did it like this so that we could take it home and taste in the comfort of our home.We fell in love with it but wanted to try a couple of other options just to make sure.Boy was that a mistake.The others didn't even closely compare to them.I immediately called them up and told them we wanted to book them to do our wedding cake.Pat made a appointment for us the following Sat and we went in.She was very pleasant and made us feel like she has known us all her life.I thought it was very sweet. Well our wedding has finally happened so I thought I would come and update my review.Our cake was absolutely beautiful and tasted even better. I had guests calling me after asking who my bakery was so they could order stuff from them.Best cake I have ever had.

My husband and I don't care too much for cake, so we wanted to try an alternative dessert for our wedding. Sugaree Baking made the most beautiful, delicious pies for our reception. All of our guests said how yummy the key lime, chocolate, and peach pies were. They were also much more reasonably priced compared to other pie bakers we had spoken to. Thank you so much for making our special day so sweet!

We had a great experience with Sugaree Baking Co. Our consultation with Pat was easy; we knew exactly what we wanted our cake to look like and she took our ideas and sketched a design that was simple and elegant. The cake not only looked beautiful at our wedding, but it tasted AMAZING. The mousse fillings in the cake are to die for, and our guests raved about how good it was. We're very glad we went with Sugaree!

Pat and her staff are amazing! Our cake was delicious and the grooms cake was SO AWESOME! They did everything exactly as we discussed! Cakes were beautiful and so delicious! Other pastries they have in the bakery are great too! We will be using them in the future for other cake related projects! You need Pat to design and bake your wedding cake!

Full Disclosure, I am not a cake person. So, with that in mind, and with the bakery options available through the Saint Louis Zoo, I looked for bakeries with the capabilities to do a dessert bar with pies and cheesecakes. Oh boy, did Sugaree deliver! At our reception we had some of the best desserts, and such variety! Our dessert buffet included cherry pie, strawberry rhubarb pie, caramel apple pie, chocolate seduction pie, cheesecake, and a pecan crunch cheesecake. I heard from several guests who made sure to tell me that they made sure to try all of the dessert options. Every dessert had a positive review! And we ended up getting talked into doing a wedding cake, if you can call it that. We had an individual Coconut Chiffon Cake, and it was delicious!!

Head's up, only drawback to not doing a wedding cake meant that we bought a lot of pies and cheesecakes from Sugaree in the months leading up to our event, since we could not do a traditional wedding cake tasting.

Pat created the most beautiful wedding cake for my daughter's wedding. She spent time listening to my daughter's wishes for her cake and provided a cake that was beyond her dreams. All of our guests commented on how delicious the cake was.
We highly recommend Pat and Jimmy for any occasion cake or pies. They are the best!

Pat was wonderful. She spent a lot of time with me answering questions and helping me mix together a few different designs I had seen in pictures to create my own perfect cake. By far, it was the best tasting cake of all that we tried. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. Real strawberries! Guests were raving about how beautiful it was. I would recommend Sugaree and plan to go back on our anniversary to get a little cake for us to celebrate.

I knew from the moment I started planning our wedding, I wanted Pat to make our cake. She did not disappoint. Gorgeous and delicious. Sugaree cakes look like they are done in fondant, that is how perfect they are, but they are all icing....let's face it, not many people actually eat the fondant. We are very pleased and recommend Sugaree to any bride.

Pat and Sugaree are just fantastic. I came in with a photo of the cake I wanted and they produced an even better version! Ohhh and the taste....you will not be disappointed. People are still talking about how delicious that cake was. My husband, who doesn't even like cake, could not get enough! I cannot say enough good things about Sugaree!

Pat is fantastic. From the tasting to the final product.... our cake was spectacular! I loved that she uses all natural ingredients... real fruit, real milk and cream and butter, no preservatives! Not to mention tastes heavenly. She can make anything happen- and she did for us. Delicious! I won't go anywhere else for desserts.

I could not have been happier with the cake we served at the wedding. It was beautiful, delicious, and our guests received a nice sized portion! Also, Pat was an absolute pleasure to work with. From the first moment I spoke with her, I felt at ease. I had my cake for the wedding picked out with in about 20 minutes. It's obvious that her and her team know exactly what they are doing.

I really can't thank Pat (the head baker and owner) enough! Our family friend was going to make our cake, but backed out a month and a half before the wedding. Pat saved us and made us the prettiest wedding cake ever! It looked like she used fondant as it was so beautiful and seamless looking but I know for a fact she didn't-as she told us she never uses it as it tastes bad and her cake was all buttercream deliciousness! Her shop on Tamm Avenue is super cute (pink walls!!!) and she has a Ipad to view her past cakes which it nicer to go through than those huge books most places had. Thank you Pat for everything! :)

Design:
We had a custom-made invitation with monsters on the St. Louis arch. Pat put this design onto our wedding cake and it was perfect.

Flavor:
I have been to a lot of weddings where the wedding cake is left on the table and people do not eat it. This was not the issue with our cake from Sugaree. Every plate that I saw had just a few crumbs left. I think this is the best testament I can give to how awesome this cake tasted. We had a Florida pound cake with raspberry and lemon. There are many other flavors available.

One of the nicest people I have ever met. It was a pleasure working on everything.

Note: We also got pies from Sugaree for a barbecue we had the day after the wedding. People basically licked the pie tins. Highly recommended - also as a possible option for the wedding itself.

Pat took the time with us to sit down and taste the different cakes, fillings and icings. On the big day the cakes was beautiful and delicious.

Our package with our reception site included the wedding cake from one of three preferred providers. We chose Sugaree, and immediately called for a tasting. Pat allowed us to pick up a tasting box to take home at taste at our convenience. We were able to try all the flavors of cake and icing choices, and once we had chosen our two cake flavors and five icing selections, we met with her again for design. After asking a few basic questions about our wedding decor, she insisted that she had the perfect cake in mind. She pulled up a picture of a cake she had done on her iPad, and it was a picture that I had pinned online already. She followed up with us in the days leading up to the wedding to confirm our numbers, and arrived promptly to our reception site. The design was exactly as described, and the cake was as tasty as we had remembered. We will be stopping by her shop for more cakes and pies in the future and will refer Sugaree to everyone.

Our cake from Sugaree was delicious AND beautiful. I took a picture to our tasting (which was so fun BTW - they even sent a tasting box home with me so that my mom, who couldn't make the appointment, could try the cakes) and the cake showed up the day of looking exactly like the picture. The bakery uses real buttercream instead of fondant, but you cannot see the difference, and the buttercream is delicious! I could not have been more happy with the looks or taste of my cake. Thanks to everyone at Sugaree! (Then even have a gluten free dessert if you have any guests with special dietary needs.)

Pat and the rest of the staff did an amazing job on my cake. I found a picture of a cake that I loved and dropped it off just two weeks before the wedding. We had previously discussed how my cake would look but this picture I found was what I truly wanted. I was floored!! When I walked into my reception and saw the cake, I was amazed. The cake was perfect! Looked JUST LIKE the picture. The buttercream was delicious, along with the fillings. You cant go wrong with Sugaree!

Pat was amazing to work with for our wedding cake. The cake was absolutely delicious! All of our guests wanted more cake even though we had an entire dessert table as well! Pat at the Sugaree Baking Co. is hands-down the BEST in town. Pat was energetic and fun to work with from the first call we placed to arrange for a tasting box. We selected the Florida pound cake with lemon and raspberry filling. The cake Pat created for us was as tasty as it was beautiful. When we sat down with Pat to show her our invitation, she knew exactly what kind of cake to create. Our design was modern, fun and a bit different, but Pat was up for the challenge and surpassed our expectations. GO SUGAREE!

You will not be disappointed!!!! I have to say I was very impressed, first how Sugaree handles their cake tasting. They give you all of their fillings and 3 kinds of cake to try. You can mix and match as you like, and to be honest, That's how we came up with our cake! We had a multi-layer cake. Layers 1 & 4 were yellow cake with lemon and raspberry filling and Layers 2 & 3 were chocolate cake with tiramisu and espresso (or one of those coffee names) DELICIOUS!!!!

When we had our meeting with Pat she had tons of books to look through. She walked us through the cakes and took note of what we liked and didn't like. She was so friendly and open that we didn't feel in anyway uncomfortable about saying what we thought. The design on our cake matched the design from our invitations. The cake had REAL FROSTING!!!! Everyone told us this was the BEST wedding cake they had ever had. (Even my Aunt said that, and she used to make wedding cakes, so she is quite a critic!).

I absolutely 100% recommend this bakery. I guarantee you will be so happy you chose this place!

Our wedding cake was amazing from Sugaree! We got the chocolate cake with chocolate ganache frosting, which isn't traditional for wedding cakes but we requested it. We had raspberry mousse filling between the layers and it was the best cake I've ever had. Almost everyone I talked to said it was hands down the best wedding cake they've ever tasted and some even said it was the best cake! Pat was great to work with... Can't wait for our 1 year anniversary to eat it again!!!

Our wedding cake turned out absolutely gorgeous and one of my favorite parts of the day! I was so excited for my cake. It is hands down the best wedding cake that I've ever had. We tasted cakes from at least 5 bakeries in St Louis. And it was decided that that the cake from Sugaree was well worth the splurge. The cake is more expensive than other wedding cakes in the area, but it is definitely worth it!! We got so many compliments on the cake and saw several people go back for seconds!! :-)

We absolutely loved the cake we got from Sugaree! The cake was beautiful and so tasty -- we got so many compliments from our guests! Pat was great to work with, and the only problem we had was that we ended up with tons of cake left over (which, since we didn't have the chance to have a slice that night, was more of a happy accident than a problem.) Exceptional quality.

This place is very special to me because my husband proposed on the outside with a cake in the window, so i love Sugaree!! And Pat is amazing and her cakes are fabulous!! Everyone at the wedding said its the best wedding cake they ever had!!

Our cake was fantastic! It tasted amazing and looked even better! We also had a groom's cake made to look like a box of Imo's pizza and it was so realistic, the guests didn't believe it was cake until it was cut. Plus Pat's a joy to work with. Would highly recommend Sugaree!

After the painful task of taste testing many bakeries ;) we decided on Sugaree and couldn't be happier! Their ingredients were fresh and they use real butter, which really makes a difference. We had always envisioned cupcakes as our cake and it turned out wonderful. The value of the cake is excellent!

Pat's cakes are fantastic and she was so much fun to work with. She recreated the photo I gave to her flawlessly. She helped me work out the 'economic' aspects of the cake. But most importantly, I did several tastings and Sugaree was by far the very best cake. The chocolate hazelnut with the vanilla cake was to die for and we have about 200 people who will say the same!

This place is awesome we had a chocolate cake with chocolate dipped strawberries it wasn't the most traditional but it tasted so incredably good. It looked perfect and the owner was so nice and gave us a deal when we had some people with dietary needs. I'm going there for all my cakes from now on.

THE best wedding cake ever! The cake (and groom's cake the night before) were gorgeous! She even did a Blues Traveler cat and quote on the groom's cake for us we met at one of their concerts. There wasn't any cake left- at all - that's how good it was!!!

Pat is so much fun. We got married at the zoo and she is a vendor under them. I didn't know exactly what I wanted but I was able to talk through my ideas. Pat made the same design on my invitations on my cake. My husband and I are eating a piece of cake each month. Yesterday we celebrated 4 months and the cake is still so good. My got the chocolate cake and was amazed how moist is was. The fillings we got to go we it were chocolate and coffee.

The cake was BEAUTIFUL and delicious. It was like I had a wedding cake out of a magazine. After meeting Pat I had full confidence in her ability to provide an amazing cake and it was everything I hoped for. Working with Sugaree was so delightful too. People kept asking if the cake was fake because it was flawless.

Pat helped us choose our flavor and design, and gave us exactly what we wanted.She went above and beyond with our cake right to the very end.The cake was beautiful and delicious, delivered on time and was exactly how we imagined it.I would recommend Sugaree Baking Co.because they are very professional and friendly to work with.

Sugaree did a great job designing the cake exactly how I wanted it, and that was no small feat. I requested two different fillings and two different kinds of cake, three-tiered, covered with dark chocolate ganache and decorated with green and yellow dots of various sizes. She did a great job and it looked great. People were actually taking pictures of our cake. The only reason I gave them 4 out of 5 stars on Quality of Service was because my dots slid down my cake because it was so hot where they had set the cake. It wasn't horrible and I'm sure no one even noticed, but I did ask if that would be a problem beforehand. I knew it would be hot in that entry foyer and they said it wouldn't be an issue. They were wrong- it's not a huge problem, but I did take note of this.

My husband and I are very happy with Sugaree. Their cake tasted AMAZING - they are definitely one of those cakes that guests will enjoy eating and make time to eat!! They offer to go tastings so that we were able to try out all of the cakes and frostings in the comfort of our own home. The only downside is the store is only open on Fridays and Saturdays, so getting a hold of the store can be hard during the week. Other than that, no complaints! Delicious cake and friendly staff :)

The cake tasted great which is saying something because I don't typically like wedding cake! The design didn't end up being what we wanted but it didn't matter what it looked like. It still tasted amazing!

Pat was wonderful to work with and her cakes are delicious. She was very helpful with our decision about the design of the cake and the end result was absolutely beautiful! I feel like we really got a good deal. The price per slice was extremely reasonable, the portion size extremely generous and the quality was exceptional!

While our wedding cake turned out beautifully and tasted delicious, I don't know that I'd recommend Sugaree to other couples. The design process was rushed, there is very little space to sit down and discuss with the baker, and much of our discussion was interrupted by constant chatter, helllos, and other distractions from customers and passerbys. I got the feeling that the Sugaree owner was a little tired and bored of doing wedding cakes...she seemed more interested in catching up on gossip with other customers. Most of our discussion was about her life history...we probably spent a total of 5 minutes out of an hour actually discussing our wedding and our cake.

THe cake turned out fine, but it was a pretty disappointing customer service experience...
