Delicious & Beautiful
We were so glad we picked Sugar Mama's for our wedding cake. The tasting experience was wonderful to try a variety of cakes, and then they perfectly executed our vision on the big day. Having a cake was super important to me for our wedding and this really hit the spot. -

Made the perfect cake for our wedding!
We were looking for a simple, small, and beautiful white wedding cake for our Austin wedding, and no place fit what we were looking for more than Sugar Mama’s in price, taste, and service. Ordering the cake and aligning on the look just took a few emails. We loved being able to do funfetti inside a simple cake with our flowers added on top.
Over our wedding weekend, Sugar Mama’s realized they had given us the wrong cake. It was similar, but not ours. Immediately after noticing their mistake the morning of our wedding, they delivered the correct cake to our venue in Dripping Springs. They were so quick to resolve their mistake that it was like the mistake never even happened.
We couldn’t have been happier with Sugar Mama’s as our wedding cake vendor! Beautiful and delicious cake! -

Get your desserts from Sugar Mama’s, just do it!
Where to begin, where to begin? From the very beginning at the taste testing, they were so helpful and friendly. It was almost too hard to just narrow down the toppings and flavors for my cake. They were amazing at helping me pick a vision for not only the wedding cake, but also the grooms cake. We ordered a wedding cake, a grooms cake and miscellaneous desserts as well. I can say my theses truly enjoyed them because they were gone within minutes lol. Some of the best cake I have ever tasted and I normally don’t like buttercream, but I can eat a bucket of theirs. If you need a delicious and elegant wedding cake/ wedding desserts, you just can’t go wrong with going to Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop! -

We had a great experience working with Sugar Mama's! They did such a beautiful job creating our wedding cake! We requested a three tier naked cake with a vanilla layer, red velvet layer and apocalypse layer. We had our florist add succulents to the cake as well. It turned out gorgeous and tasted equally amazing. -

The easiest choice we made. Sugar Mama's is on another level. Our cakes were simple and delicious. The buttercream icing is transcendent and the dessert bars were out of control. They made everything easy for us, and despite our simple order they made sure it was perfect. -

I was a little bit late on getting the cake figured out...2 weeks before the wedding...but still, they took care of me and did a fabulous job! I didn't really want anything super crazy special so we were able to just do a quick phone call and get everything all set up. We ordered 3 cakes from them and cookies for the favors. The cake (which we ordered WAY too much of lol), was a HUGE hit. The vegan blueberry-lemonade being the absolute favorite, followed closely by the German chocolate!
They were decorated perfectly for me! I wanted the main cake to be a two tier naked funfetti cake...and that's exactly what I got, absolute perfection! The other cakes I just said to decorate normal...not sure if that's how they normally do it, or not, but whatever I got was amazing! The German chocolate even had some gold glitter sprinkled on it, which was totally perfect! The leftover cake lasted for days...and tasted great the entire time too.
We also heard afterwards so many people loving the cookies! We just ordered regular home style cookies in a couple flavors and again big hit. Some Austinites who'd never even heard of Sugar Mama's have told me that they've now gone back to get more of it!
Overall perfect vendor choice. Lowkey awesomeness. -

Sugar Mama's was recommended to me by a friend to make my wedding/grooms cake. I must have exchanged dozens of emails and calls regarding the cakes I was ordering and I always got a quick and accomodating response. I'm definitely happy with the results...but the cake was gone so quickly I didn't even get any :( I heard it was delicious though, and they looked adorable...especially the 1UP mushroom we had for the grooms cake.
I'm not from Austin, but now need an excuse to go down and buy a cake...to eat all by myself!! Muahaha! Or maybe just some cupcakes :) -

Amazing flavors! Everyone loved them! The James Brown flavor (chocolate on chocolate) disappeared were the first to sell out, recommend ordering extra of those. Also loved the cookie dough, churro, and wedding cake flavors. Had a great display pedestal available to rent. -

Take photos of what you're envisioning, as well as swatches of fabrics to match color, if necessary. Jenny was fantastic with our vision--we chose two different flavors of cake with two different color schemes; both were beautiful and so tasty. We left her flowers to "work her magic" on the day of, and she was awesome. -

Sugar Mama's provided our cakes for our wedding in early January. We had been to two recent weddings with Sugar Mama's cakes and decided to use them for our wedding. They knocked it out of the park! Everyone, and mean everyone commented on how moist and delicious both our cakes were! The groom's cake was Alpocalypse with a chocolate ganache poured on top to represent "oil". The bride's cake was Wedding Cake but the "inside out" style. -

Sugar Mama's was very easy to work with. I started by scheduling a tasting in which I definitely got more than necessary. I brought along two friends and the three of us had the opportunity to taste several options! Scheduling the "day of" delivery was super easy and everything turned out beautiful...and yummy!! -

I (bride) have loved Sugar Mama's ever since their early years as a bakery in Austin, so there was no question in my mind when we were trying to choose a bakery for our wedding cake. We actually decided to go with cupcakes, and Sugar Mama's did not disappoint. They allowed us to select a variety of cupcakes to give our guests a chance to sample many different flavors, and they even had the option of renting a cupcake tier through them. We were offered the chance to do a tasting with them ahead of time and Sugar Mama's allowed us to choose from specialty flavors not on their regular menu. We also had them make a 6" cake for the top of the tier, which we used for our cake toppers and our cake cutting. They delivered our cupcakes to the venue for us for a reasonable fee and set them up as directed ahead of time. Overall the guests enjoyed the cupcakes immensely and so did we! -

Our vow renewal at the Renaissance hotel here in Austin was an experience made perfect by the cakes and cupcakes by sugar mommas. I know most people do not believe in perfect but to me that is what they provided to my wife and I for our event. The grooms cake with a specialized picture that had to do with what I do for living was an item that all my groomsmen talked about nonstop as we all work together. To all the people getting married out there you cannot go wrong by having your cake may by this great bakery. A special thanks to them from Irene and Romeo. -

Loved my delicious cake! For me, I had to have a good-tasting cake, so my caterer recommended Sugar Mama's. They were not wrong! I was able to taste some delicious cupcakes and thought Sugar Mama's was the perfect balance of elegant-looking cake with a delicious interior. Sugar Mama's delivered it and set it up, so there was no worry of me accidentally knocking the cake over in a car. I loved my wedding cake! It looked and tasted great, and didn't even break the bank :) -

Wow. Just wow. I am very, very picky when it comes to sweets and these were the best cupcakes EVER. My guests agreed. Not to mention, they were beautifully decorated and the top part of our cake even watched our colors! The won "Cupcake Wars" for a reason!! Please get your cake/cupcakes from them! -

Um, YUM! BEST CAKE EVER. Instead of doing one traditional cake, we opted for several cupcake flavors on a tiered stand with a small cake on top for me and my groom. Everyone remarked on how delicious the cupcakes were and the looked BEAUTIFUL. We asked for each cupcake to be sprinkled with a little gold glitter-stunning! Highly recommend Sugar Mama's. We've celebrated almost every milestone here and even got engaged here (Literally. he proposed in the bakery, cupcake in hand), so it was only right they did our wedding desserts. As usual, they were phenomenal. We had a dessert bar with mini pies, pecan bars, and cupcakes which served as our favors for guests to pack away in mini "thank you" boxes. It was a huge hit. The desserts disappeared! The whole set up was very affordable which was a huge plus. Sugar Mama's never disappoints! -

We ordered a cupcake tower for our wedding day. It was perfect!! I recommend the Waffle King, James Brown, French Toast and Carrot Cake flavors. So yummy!!! For a small extra fee, Sugar Mama's can supply the tower and then came to venue to set up cupcakes for you. Well worth it. -

Sugar Mama's did an amazing job with our wedding cake.
Our original plan for our wedding cake was to have a friend who bakes do it. About two weeks before the wedding, our plan fell through and we needed to book a good cake quickly. Sugar Mama's was so compliant and worked with our stressful timeline. They got us in for a tasting quickly and gave us all the info we needed.
The day of the wedding, the two women delivering the cake took care with keeping the cake in tact. We had a stressful mishap with our venue.. they didn't allow us into the building at the time on our contract. These incredible women patiently waited and one of them held the cake on her lap for an HOUR while waiting for access into our venue.
And lastly.. the cake was incredible. We had half cookies and cream and half lemon almond. -

I've always loved Sugar Mama's. It's been my favorite cupcakery in Austin and my now husband actually proposed there - so it was a given we'd be getting our cake from Sugar Mama's too.
Olivia & team were a breeze to work with and made sure we had endless samples of cupcakes prior to our final selection.
The payment process was a cinch and any questions that came up were quickly answered.
We were looking for a super rustic cake to fit our wedding theme and Sugar Mama nailed it! The cake had flowers that matched our centerpieces which were beautifully arranged and the rough, textured frosting gave it that rustic, country look. The cake in all was a beautiful display to have at the wedding. -

For my wedding cake, I wanted CUPCAKES!! I went into my favorite bakery (Sugar Mama's, of course!) with a very vague idea of what I wanted. I sat down with their head baker and told her a little about myself (I'm offbeat and very nerdy) and about my wedding (who needs 2 colors when you can have FIVE!). Within minutes, she accidentally landed on the absolute perfect idea - simple, 4 flavors, each with their own color to match the colors in the wedding party, and with a cake layer on top to match Kaylee's dress on Firefly! Delivered as promised, reasonably priced, and DELICIOUS. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. :) -

We ordered our cake and 4 dozen cupcakes for our wedding from Sugar Mama's and everything was delicious! We loved the wide variety of options (including vegan flavors), the beautiful presentation, and how incredibly affordable it all was!
We were initially in contact with Andrea, who helped us with our order and answered all our questions. She was a little slow to respond to emails, but every single email was always eventually responded to. We really appreciated her suggestions and advice on the amount to order based on our guest list, and we felt like she was trying to help us decide on the right amount without spending more than we needed to.
A couple months before our wedding, Andrea moved to a different city and was replaced by Karina. Karina was AWESOME. She responded to emails super quickly, answered every single question, was very organized and knowledgeable. We were so impressed by how seamless this transition was. Karina swooped in and took on our wedding order so professionally! We met up with her a month before our wedding to discuss the final decisions on flavors and the cake design. We showed her a few pictures and she knew exactly what we wanted.
Everything was perfect on our wedding day. The presentation was beautiful and the design of the cake was exactly what we wanted. Everything was delicious.
We are so glad we went with Sugar Mama's!

Sugar Mama's is amazing to work with. They helped create the look and taste of my cupcakes, making recommendations about what would work and taste good together. They set up the cake table at the wedding, they made an unforgettable grooms cake for the biggest Patriots fan in Texas and they did it all at a lower cost than other bakeries in the area. I have loved Sugar Mama's for years and they really helped make my wedding extra sweet. They even texted the maid of honor to confirm everything was in place the day of the event! Olivia and her team are pure magic. Can not recommend them enough!! -

The cupcakes and my 8" cake from Sugar Mama's were SUCH a huge hit!
My husband and I ordered 3 different types of cupcakes and a cake for us to cut; and they ALL came out simply amazing. Every single guest raved about how delicious and moist and wonderful the cupcakes were.
We ordered the "Marilyn Monroe" (vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting), a German Chocolate cupcake, and their "Strawberry Love" cupcake (it had strawberry cream in the middle). My cake was a lemon cake with buttercream frosting.
Sugar Mama's can do elaborate cakes with fondant, but I wanted mine done with buttercream as my husband doesn't like fondant personally. I had stumbled across a photo of a 3-tier cake that I liked, so I sent that to Sugar Mama's and asked if I could have my cake done in that style in a single tier in purple.
WOW did they deliver! It was EXACTLY like the photo in a rich, royal purple hue. EXACTLY what I wanted!
They also deliver for you; I thought the fee was a little high, but, as I didn't want to be responsible for driving my cupcakes and cake around, I can't complain TOO much! However, my reception was out in the Hill Country, which was probably a factor as well.
If you want to go with a traditional cake, go with cupcakes, or like I did, a mix of both, hire Sugar Mama's to provide your dessert! There's a reason they a Cupcake Wars winner!!

sugar mama's is AWESOME!!! we used them to make our wedding cake last weekend, and it was fantastic! we ordered the marilyn monroe (vanilla with buttercream frosting) and the southern belle (red velvet with cream cheese frosting), and both were amazing -- our guests raved about the cake. plus, the cake looked gorgeous, AND was one of the most reasonably priced options in town. i will most definitely be recommending sugar mama's to others and going back for their delicious cake myself whenever i can find an excuse to eat more cake. ;) -

We had cupcakes from Sugar Mama's for our wedding. I have tried them out in the shop on several occasions, and I have to say I haven't met one flavor I don't like. They were very professional and quick to respond by email, which made life for a busy person like myself so much easier and planning was a breeze. We changed the location of our wedding on the day of due to a wildfire, and despite all that, it was as if not a moment had been lost. They did an excellent job, and their cupcakes are sensational. -

Oh, Sugar Mama's, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. The owner Olivia was a delight to work with from our very first meeting to the week of the wedding. She was warm, flexible, creative and professional! Her team put together a lovely table of two flavors of cupcakes and a small cake that we could dig into for our cake cutting. It took all of our willpower not to keep nom-noming through the cake after we exchanged bites. And our guests loved the cupcakes - we had countless folks inquire about the baker and make a beeline to the shop the day after the wedding! They have so many yummy flavors. We went with their chocolate peanut butter cup and their Hemingway key lime because those are our faves after our frequent drop-ins to our favorite neighborhood bakery. Beyond the deliciousness, we also appreciated how Olivia went above and beyond by getting special cupcake liners for us and ensuring that we had a cake board that matched our stand. We heart Sugar Mama's Bakeshop! -

We LOVED Sugar Mama's. We were fans of SM way before our wedding, and will be fans forever. Their cupcakes are amazing, and our guests absolutely loved them (we had 5 cupcakes left, out of 225!). Olivia was wonderful to work with -- from helping us plan our flavors, to setting up the cupcakes at our wedding. We love her! -

Great experience with Sugar Mama's Bakeshop. So much so that I hardly have any comments to make. Olivia, the owner, was wonderful, totally professional and experienced at catering weddings. She advised on the number of cupcakes we should order and where to get a cupcake stand we could decorate. The cupcakes and the mini topper cake looked and tasted amazing. We actually did have lots of extra cupcakes - I think we were overzealous on the number of flavors we wanted to try - but we just boxed them up and took them to the brunch the next day. Highly recommended! -

Olivia at Suga Mama's was amazing! I had had their cupcakes before at a friend's birthday party and instrantly fell in love with them. Their flavors are so creative and those cupcakes are SO GOOD! Serioulsy. They are awesome.
My husband loves bananna pudding more than life itself, and they have these amazing bananna cupcakes with pudding inside. Ah-mazing.
Olivia set up a free tasting of cupcakes where we got to pick something like 8 flavors to try. This was so fun! We picked Jack's Lemon (lemon cake with lemon buttercream frosting), The Frida (chocolate cake with chocolate cinammon buttercream frosting), and the bananna pudding cupcakes. It was really hard to pick becuase they were all so good.
She offered to customize our cupcakes with our initials, or anything we wanted but I loved the way they decorated them already. They fit perfectly into my "homespun elegance" feel that I was going for. Also she delivered them to the venue for a very small fee which was a huge weight off our shoulders.
She made us a top cake for cake cutting, which was strawberry cake with lemon cream cheese icing. It was amazing.
Everyone loved the cupcakes. We orderd something like 90 (hoping to have a few leftovers) and only took home one dozen. And we only had about 75 guests. Lets just say, they were a big hit.
Also, they give you a free half dozen cupcakes or cake top on your one year anniversary. That way you can save a slice if you want to, but still get to eat the good stuff on your one year. Yes, please!
I highly recommend Sugar Mama's for ANY event. -

Sugar Mama's cupcakes are incredible! When it came time to look for a wedding cake, Sugar Mama's was one of the first that came to mind. After our tasting, we were sold! They made exactly what we wanted and it looked incredible! We ordered sheet cakes with our college emblems that came out so great that we displayed them. In addition, our 3 tiered gatsby cake was incredible! It was almost too gorgeous not to eat. We had leftovers that all our guest enjoyed taking home. We'LOL definitely used Sugar Mama's for our next event! -

The ladies at Sugar Mama's were very helpful in helping me decide what to order for my small wedding. The cupcakes were a huge hit! It was hard to keep the guests away before the cutting of our Texas sized cupcake that my husband and I shared. Everything was delicious though, sadly, the white cake (Marilyn Monroe and Pin Up) was a bit dry. Everything else was perfect though! The favorites among our guests were the Mint Chocolate Chip and the German Chocolate. -

I've ordered three cakes from this bakery and they all turned out wonderful. All the cakes were beautiful and fulfilled the requested vision. They were also all delicious! I'd definitely use this bakery again and recommend it to anyone. Wonderful quality, great selection and reasonable price.
My only critique is there is no formal tasting of the cake flavors. You have to purchase various cupcakes on different days and then the bakery reimburses you if you order a cake. -

We did a mix of cupcakes, mini cupcakes, and dessert bars for our wedding with sugar mamas, and it all came out perfectly! The most important part is of course how amazingly delicious all of their products are, we had such a wide variety to offer our guests and everyone loved and devoured every last bit. The packages are easily customizable allow you to create a varied spread that can accommodate any palate, and the prices are very affordable for the quality of desserts that you get! The staff are great at their response times, and will do anything they can to make your vision happen! Highly recommend! -

On the recommendation of two friends who had their wedding cakes done here, my now husband and I chose Sugar Mama's for our two wedding cakes at our January 2016 wedding. Sugar Mama's delivered. After a tasting, we settled on the peanut butter cup(cake) for the groom's cake and alternating layers of carrot and strawberry for the main wedding cake.
Sugar Mama's knocked the designs we were looking for out of the park- the main cake was wonderfully decorated with simple icing (no fondant, who actually likes eating that stuff) and the groom's cake with the UT seal. When our wedding planner noticed that the cake stands we'd requested didn't arrive, we contacted Sugar Mama's and they gave us both a refund and a $25 gift certificate. The cakes really didn't need the stands, as they were gorgeous on their own.
We were incredibly happy with Sugar Mama's service throughout the process, and our guests enjoyed the leftover cake at brunch the morning after. Loved being able to support local businesses on our big day! -

The cake was just what I wanted and exactly like the picture I showed. And it was delicious. The cake delivery was running a little late due to crazy weather, but they kept us informed. I would highly recommend Sugar Mamas! -

Sugar Mama's is one of my favorite bake shops in town, so as soon as I got engaged, I knew who I wanted to provide the dessert my wedding (we did cupcakes only). We actually overestimated our guest list and were expecting to have leftovers to take home, but our guests devoured them all! Setting up our order and cupcake stand rental/return was a breeze. -

The cupcakes were just fantastic. Everyone loved them. We were able to do a few fun flavors, including a semi-custom one (blue velvet). They had a number of different stands available for use, in different sizes and shapes. I went with the octagonal one, which looked really nice. The texture of their banana cupcake (we got "the Elvis" -- banana with peanut butter icing) was just as nice as their other cupcakes (which wasn't the case with some other cupcakeries I did tastings at). They aren't incredibly cheap, but they have competitive prices and were superior to the other "top Austin cupcake places" that I did tastings at. If you are used to using email as your main form of communication, note that email responses can be slow. However, you can always call the shop if you need to. -

The cupcakes were wonderful and the top tier cake was beautiful. The only complaint I have is they forgot to put our top tier cake in the groomsmen's car. He had already returned to the venue before they realized it.
Fortunately, we were picking them up early in the day before the wedding, so a crisis was averted.
I will say, their cupcakes are DELISH! -

Overall a great bakeshop! They did the cupcakes for my wedding. I tasted every cupcake in Austin, and these are the best. They are super busy, so sometimes they can be a little slow at responding to emails, but they were always really accommodating and helpful when they did respond.
On the day of the reception, I did not have to worry about the cupcakes for one second. They came to the venue and set them up, they looked exactly how I imagined, the guests loved them, and they tasted amazing. They made us a small topper cake that was really good as well! I highly recommend them---the cupcakes are not cheap, but the pricing is on par with other cupcake places in Austin, and they look and taste so good that its hard to fault the pricing! -

I frankly was very disappointed with the service we got. The cake was delivered, and there was not cake stand, which by the way I had to ask about because they never discussed this with me. They were not responsive, and upon contacting the mgr. we got some excuse, which I am still not sure is even valid. I could not get a human being on the phone to save my life, after making payment. The cake that was delivered was not up to the standards that I expected given the reviews. The "look" of the cake was not where near the photos I provided, further more the cupcakes tasted as if they were a day old and stale. I would not recommend, especially when you spend $150 bucks to deliver the cake, and they were going to ad flowers and I as the bride had to go back in an redo the flowers as they were all jacked up and didn't look ANYTHING like the photo I provided. SMH awful all around. Probably the worst vendor we worked with throughout the process. -

We paid $666 (which probably should have been an omen) for a four-tier white to purple ombre cake. What arrived was a lopsided cake on the verge of falling over, and it looked like a purple unicorn threw up on it. My coordinator asked the person who delivered it, "What is THAT?" She said, "It's hot." No apology. Had I actually seen it, I would have told the delivery person to take it back. It's HOT? You mean to tell me you have no way to transport a cake to keep it cool for a delivery? Or you can't assemble it onsite? You're a *professional* cake baker. In Texas. Figure it out.
We rented a cake table. We rented a tablecloth. We ordered an extra floral arrangement for said cake table. And our cake table sat empty all night because the cake couldn't be brought out for fear of it imploding on itself. My coordinator had to rush us through dinner so she could bring the cake out so we could cut the teeny tiniest little sliver out of it, and she was literally standing on the other side waiting to catch it if it fell. Then they rushed it back inside to dismantle the entire thing.
My coordinator reached out to the manager who promised to "make it right" - then proceeded to offer us a credit & a "super special" anniversary cake (which we already paid for & don't want at this point).
1. We're not getting married *again*, so no, we don't need a credit.
2. You can't get it right on our wedding day, and you want to give us another cake? No thanks.
So instead they offered us a $50 refund. That's just insulting. I've given them over two weeks to "make it right", and they haven't responded.
