Heidi is wonderful! Great communication, beautiful designs, and our wedding florals turned out amazing and exactly like how we described. The flowers held up throughout the night and were stunning even the following morning when we picked up some leftover centerpieces and bouquets!
Heidi was incredibly communicative whether through email or phone, and I really appreciated how professional, kind, and compassionate she is. When I was first looking for florists, I left a message to schedule a quick phone consultation to confirm if she still had my wedding date available and my estimated budget. Then, we scheduled an in-person appointment to hash out the details. Everything truly was so seamless, including confirmations of receipt when I sent payments and updated contracts anytime we requested changes. Heidi was wonderful and worked within our budget.
You can truly tell Heidi and everyone at Sugar Magnolias truly love creating beauty for events, and we are so grateful we were able to snag them for our wedding! -

(As written by my wife) Sugar Magnolias was one of our venue’s recommended vendors for wedding flowers. Typically, I like to shop on my own to find vendors that will be unique, but when it came to the flowers, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to talk to someone who is familiar with the space. I’m really glad I did because Sugar Magnolias was such a fantastic choice.
Not only did Heidi know the space like the back of her hand, but she also had creative ideas for how to be versatile within the space without spending a fortune. She considered all the possible scenarios, like planning for an outdoor ceremony but shifting gears should the weather not cooperate. Other than a color palette, I didn’t come to the table with too many of my own ideas (flowers are not my specialty), so I was really leaning on Heidi to help me bring a vision to life. She exceeded all expectations¬—even suggesting different colors from what I was envisioning which ended up being the right choice.
Heidi was also extremely flexible and accommodating. At one point after we had solidified a plan, I came across an idea for table centerpieces that I wanted to try out. I sent Heidi some photos and she was able to pivot from our initial plan to bring this new idea to fruition.
Everything came out so beautiful. Our photos speak for themselves.
Working with Heidi was a 10/10 experience and I highly recommend her. -

I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by Sugar Magnolias.
First, Heidi is a true artist and an incredible business owner. Not only is she creative, a master of her craft, and full of incredible and out-of-the-box ideas to meet your vision, she is also professional, efficient, organized, kind, and friendly. From our first phone call to our first in-person meeting, the warmth in Heidi's voice comforted me. Planning a wedding can be very stressful on many fronts, but she has this calming/soothing way about her. It ensured my husband and I that we made the right choice and the BEST choice with our florist.
Heidi deeply understood my vision from the beginning. Not only did she understand it, she took it, ran with it, and went above and beyond with beauty. When we saw the flowers on our wedding day, they exceeded our expectations. Honestly, they took my breath away. I went for a more rustic/natural/wildflower vibe with lots of blues/greens/sunflowers. It was perfect for the venue, as we were married at The Old Field Club. And she DELIVERED.
When I first saw my bouquet, I was practically in tears. I had never seen something so beautiful before. And then there was the arch/pergola that we got married under. Then that flowed into the reception room with centerpieces and garlands. When my husband and I were holding hands and seeing the room for the first time without any guests, all we kept saying to each other was, "Oh my goodness... WOW. Wow. Wow!" We were practically rendered speechless by the flowers. It was a colorful, overflowing, abundant, textured, breathtaking variety that looked like it was out of a storybook.
Not only would I highly recommend Heidi for your wedding, I would make sure that she is the ONLY florist you would ever hire for any of your events. She is, by leaps and bounds, the BEST in the business.
Overall, I think the success at the root came from Heidi taking the time to really get to know me and my husband. Because of this, she created something that we will never forget and something that truly encompassed who we are as a couple. I will always look back on these photos and smile seeing the flowers. Heidi truly made all of our dreams come true.
Thank you, Heidi and Sugar Magnolias, for being such an integral part of the most memorable day of our lives. We will forever sing your well-deserved praises! -

If we did our wedding 1,000 times over, we would choose Sugar Magnolias every time! Heidi was incredibly patient and accommodating to every request and question I had right up until the days just before the wedding. While our color palette changed multiple times, due to my crazy decision to let nine bridesmaids wear whatever they wanted (!!!), Heidi never once made me feel like I was an inconvenience and her calm and reassuring demeanor always made it feel like everything was going to be okay. And it was MORE than okay! We were blessed with a beautiful day and backdrop, and the flowers brought everything over the top. Heidi really pulled our entire vision together and the bouquets and centerpieces were beyond my wildest dreams when we saw them in person on our wedding day. Sugar Magnolias is the best! -

We could not have been more pleased with our flower arrangements on our wedding day, all thanks to Heidi and her team and their incredible talent and vision. Our first appointment with Heidi was one of our favorite moments in the planning process; she sat down with us, got to know us as a couple, listened to our story and what we had envisioned for our day. She is truly an artist that took our story, our words and random images that seemed not to go together, to create a unique, stunning, cohesive look and feel for our special day. I felt so reassured that we were not just a client, but that we were Tarayn & Amar and our creations would be made solely for us. The attention to detail was so captivating. We have gotten never-ending compliments on the flowers even up until now, 6 months after our wedding day! Our loved ones have said they've "seen nothing like it," "...looks like it's out of a magazine!", and "..so romantic and unique." The bridesmaids adored their bouquets and my bridal bouquet brought me right to tears. Sugar Magnolia's offers one-of-a-kind service, attention, and products and if you envision your floral arrangements to be a special part of your day, you won't go wrong with entrusting Sugar Magnolias to create true masterpieces. Beautiful flowers! 100% Recommend!!
Heidi was an absolute dream to work with! Heidi understood my color scheme perfectly. Unlike other florists I met with, she also knew what flowers would and would not be in season for my March 13 wedding and did not try to promise off-season flowers with fine-print that, if not available, other flowers could be substituted. Heidi kept me engaged in the entire process, wanting to hear my ideas, explaining why a particular idea might not work and suggesting alternatives of her vision and why she thought it might work (better). On my wedding day, Heidi and her team provided absolutely stunning floral arrangements! I could not have asked for better and I would absolutely recommend Sugar Magnolias! -

Heidi and her team completely nailed my vision for wedding flowers! The morning of the most beautiful bouquets were delivered to me that I’ve ever seen. Her choices of flowers and incorporation of one flower that I wanted was absolutely flawless and I can’t recommend using her enough. A true artist!
Heidi made the absolute most beautiful arrangement of flowers for our wedding day. I didn’t have many ideas on what I wanted at first but Heidi is such an artist with her work and knew exactly how she could give us the rustic and look we wanted. She was a true pleasure to work with from our first meeting to our wedding day the whole process working with Heidi was seamless. I didn’t stress one bit about flowers because I knew Heidi was on it and we were in good hands. I highly recommend Heidi for your wedding day - she is the best!! Thank you SO much Heidi! -

She is the absolute sweetest and you could tell she understood the vibe and vision we were going for at the wedding. Leading up to it, we kept her posted on all details and the end result was absolutely STUNNING bouquets and centerpieces. She really listened to what I was hoping for and made it all come true. She even helped adjust things for my budget when I spoke with her after an initial quote. I am so happy with how everything looked, Heidi and her team are really artists, and a pleasure to work with!

Devon Sent on 07/10/2012Our wedding was at my parents house in East Setauket...the morning of our wedding, Heidi arrived at my house with her amazing assistant, a smile on her face, and a vase filled with white stargazer lily's (my favorite) left over from my bridal bouquet.
Heidi is truly amazing at what she does!!! I'm so thankful that she was available to do the flowers for my wedding. She did my best friend's wedding, and the flowers were gorgeous as well!! She totally exceeded my expectations with the flowers and the arrangements for my wedding. Heidi knows her stuff...and provided all of the flowers and colors that I requested. White stargazer lily's in my bouquet, floating gardenias by the pool for cocktail hour, and beautiful centerpieces to complete the tuscan style tables under the reception tent. Everything was picture perfect!!!
I highly recommend Sugar Magnoila's to anyone..I will absolutely use them in the future...and know that if any event I attend in the future uses Sugar Magnolia's, I know the flowers are going to be amazing. -

We booked Sugar Magnolias about 15 months before our wedding, and from the initial booking to the wedding, the entire color theme changed after seeing a new vision at our tasting. Heidi just took the picture of my dress, bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen's outfits and whipped up a beautiful vision for our reception and bouquets. I gave Heidi free reign after briefly discussing my vision,since flowers were not one of my strongest focuses to personalize. I was truly shocked how much I loved my flowers and how beautiful she made the room look. It is 2 weeks later, and the centerpiece my parents took to our home for us is just now fading. Heidi is a delight to work with - her super sweetness is genuine and you can tell she loves what she does. Thank you so much!! -

Heidi was wonderful to work with throughout our wedding planning process. She’s a lovely
person and her studio was a welcoming space to meet with her and talk flowers. I would just be very specific in what you want and don’t want, as we ended up receiving some blooms that were darker and pinker than we had imagined. . These are small things that are helpful to talk through to ultimately help you and your florist with specifics. In terms of layouts and arrangements, Heidi and her team are pros and she’s very helpful through every step of the way. Thank you Heidi and team. -

Overall - extremely disappointed & hurt.
I used Sugar Magnolias for my wedding flowers. Right off the bat, walking into my venue space (after almost two years of planning) I couldn’t believe my eyes.
After numerous emails back and forth, an in person meeting, multiple PowerPoint slides with photos representing exactly what I wanted… I was shocked to see the end result.
Many flowers were dead/ wilted, my bridal bouquets were not even close to what was described & in general - the arrangements were filled with mostly greenery, I believe to overcompensate for the lack of actual flowers used. This right here is what upsets me the most, I wanted my flowers to be exactly that, actual flowers with a lot of color and that’s not what I got.
Specifics include Heidi using a completely different vase than what was originally described/ picked out. My entry table arrangement was supposed to be a moment when everyone first walked in (ie. tall in height, branching out, dramatic) but it was identical to the reception table arrangements, literally I don’t believe the arrangements were even different? They were supposed have similarities, not be the exact same.
Also, I mentioned from Day 1 I didn’t want ‘Eucalyptus’ used anywhere - and for some reason it was used in every single arrangement. Also Carnations we’re used, which weren’t stated anywhere on my write-up, isn’t that a funeral flower?
The bridesmaid bouquets I was hoping for were supposed to be small, colorful and playful for the bridesmaids and for me the bride - structured Pinkish White Calla Lilies with some greenery. I was expecting the bouquet to be exactly like the inspiration photo I sent to her with an addition of a couple green leaves to help match mine to all of the more relaxed bridesmaid bouquets but instead, they were massive, bush-like, weedy & again mostly filled up with greenery. My lilies were also white and deep purple/blue - which was the wrong color.
A week before the event she sends me a final invoice, increasing the prices of some items, without even pointing it out to me. Almost as if she was hoping I wouldn’t notice? Her response to me asking about the price change was extremely argumentative.
I honestly hate that I have to spend time writing this and in full detail - but there were just so many things wrong. She emailed my sister day-of, blaming it on ‘Supply Issues’ - when none of this was directly communicated to me beforehand, aside from her sending me a generic PDF she sent to all of her brides basically stating ‘she had issues getting hard goods and flowers were more expensive.’ But also….to not stress, she’s been doing this for 40 years and is going to stick to color schemes and make sure everything is done as expected’ so why would I be worried - she said she had it covered regardless?
If she communicated this to me before my wedding (let’s say about the entry urn specifically) I would’ve took it upon myself to buy / source one separately - she basically had 2 years to find 1 Urn!?
I had a large Rehearsal dinner the night before, using a different florist, and ran into zero issues.
I tried to not let this whole shebang bother me at my wedding. It took her 4 days to respond her my email. In her email, she had the nerve to say she wanted to blow me off?! Her explanation was extremely defensive, basically blaming everything on Covid-19 & only addressed 1 of my concerns (the greenery to my bridal bouquet) - nothing else! $8k later and zero accountability.
I hope this is helpful for other brides, as you only get married once and deserve what you want, ask for and are promised. Covid-19 took so much from all of us (especially those who have been planning a wedding) don't let it ruin yours! -
