I highly recommend Sugar Lab! Sugar Lab provided our wedding cake and I had so much fun working with Ali! She let me make changes to our order and design during the process, and we ended up with a beautiful cake! I'm always wary of large wedding cakes because they often end up dry, but our cake was moist and delicious. We got so many compliments on Ali's cake and our guests were very happy! -

We worked with Micki and the team at Sugar Lab Bake Shop to create and deliver our personalized wedding cake.
We had a larger kitchen cake for the guests, and a smaller, sweetheart table cake for just my wife and I.
Communication was really smooth getting all of the details right, and delivery of the cake to our venue was an option we could select with our rate.
The cake came out SO DELICIOUS. The guests loved it, and we couldn't stop eating the leftovers the day after. We can't wait to eat our cake again one year from now, as Sugar Lab Bake Shop offers a freshly baked one for you to have on your anniversary - no need to freeze your wedding cake and eat a stale one next year.

Beautiful and Delicious, I highly recommend!!
I was thoroughly impressed with the level of customization Sugar Lab Bake Shop and Micki offered. They took my ideas and preferences into account, and the end result exceeded my expectations. Communication throughout the process was seamless, with prompt responses to any queries or concerns I had.
Moreover, the taste of the cake was simply divine. Everyone loved our cake, and we wish they got to taste all the different flavors! And of course, the presentation was just absolutely beautiful!

Sugar Lab absolutely nailed our wedding dessert table dreams! We wanted a small cake that we could cut during cake cutting for our wedding and get photos of but we didn't want a cake big enough to serve our guests. Sugar Lab helped us pick out the most perfect sized cake for my husband and I to cut during our wedding, as well as provided the most delicious mini cupcakes for our guests to enjoy. The banana cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting is INCREDIBLE!
Prior to our wedding we picked up a cake tasting box and had sooo much fun trying the many combinations they had to offer. We have talked about that box for months and even discussed getting another one just to eat.
Ali and Mickie communicated with us well and always answered all of our questions and concerns quickly. We felt totally at ease and never once worried about our cake or dessert table while wedding planning. We knew we were in great hands with Sugar Lab. They delivered the cake on time and it was stunning! Our guests still remind us how much they loved the mini cupcakes and all of the flavors.
I would highly recommend Sugar Lab for any and all dessert needs. -

Stunning Cakes of All Sizes!
We were looking for a small cutting cake that would not only taste fantastic but also look the part, and Sugar Lab delivered beyond our expectations.
From the start, Sugar Lab offered us several options for our wedding cake, allowing us to choose what would best suit our needs. We decided on a small 2-tier cake (which technically is not part of their "wedding" selection but worked perfect for what we needed) for an intimate touch, and the journey to creating our dream cake was nothing short of delightful.
To ensure our cake was as delicious as it was beautiful, we went to their location and picked up a tasting box to decide on our cake flavor and frosting. Sugar Lab had an array of delicious combinations that made it so fun to choose. Every cake flavor and frosting we tried was a delight, but ultimately we decided on a vanilla bean cake with a cinnamon cream cheese frosting!
When it came to the look of the cake, I shared some inspiration photos with Sugar Lab, and they were not only able to accommodate our vision but were also transparent with pricing. The design I wanted cost extra, but their cake decorator was incredible and it was worth it! Their attention to detail and willingness to bring our vision to life made the process stress-free.
I had a DIY cake topper that I wanted to include, and Sugar Lab made the process easy for me. I was able to drop it off ahead of time, and the decorator placed it perfectly on the cake. It was a personal touch that made the cake even more special to us.
The entire process with Sugar Lab was seamless, and on our wedding day, the cake was an absolute showstopper. Our guests raved about how delicious it was, and the cake added a touch of elegance to our celebration.
We can't thank Sugar Lab Bake Shop enough for their exceptional service and for creating a cake that was not only visually stunning but also a delightful treat for everyone at our wedding. Amazing!!!
We loved our cake so much!!! Sugar Lab Bake Shop was prompt with the delivery and we loved the taste so much (lemon cake with lemon curd filling). One minor thing (that is totally not a big deal because our cake was still beautiful and tasted great) is that the color was pink ombré and not pink to purple like we originally asked for. But all requests for the decorations of the berries was followed through perfectly. We loved everything and highly recommend this bakery!!! -

Stunning & Delicious Cake for our Wedding Day!
Sugar Lab was so easy to work with from start to finish. Our wedding cake was just as delicious as it was beautiful. They were extremely responsive any time we had a question. And I love that you get a fresh cake for your anniversary! We tried a few local cake shops and Sugar Lab cakes were definitely the tastiest. -

Don't hire anyone BUT Sugar Lab for your dessert needs
I recently ordered a cake from Sugar Lab on behalf of my two beloved friends. First, you'd be amazed at how many bakeries in Ventura County won't do a same sex wedding. Was not an issue at all for Sugar Lab. Secondly, the cake was incredibly delicious! We chose three different flavors, one for each tier, and each was more delicious than the prior. Lastly, we had a snafu the day of the wedding. We left the cake in the sun and the fondant began to melt. The team at Sugar Lab didn't hesitate. They made a special trip back to the bakery and patched the cake. They did such a beautiful job that no one could tell the difference. I cannot recommend Sugar Lab enough. They are spectacular. -

We hired Sugar Lab for our wedding and they were amazing from start to finish! Our dessert table was so beautiful, and our guests said everything was delicious (we ordered a two tier cake, cupcakes, cookies, and mini pies). We also frequently visit their shop and everything is delicious! I'd highly recommend hiring Sugar Lab for your wedding or event.

Our 3-tier wedding cake from Sugar Lab was perfection! You can't beat their price and taste with any cake vendor out there. Trust me I did my research. Amazing !!
Sugar Lab Bake Shop created a unique and delicious cake for our May 15th wedding. They worked with us on design, and made our visual description a reality. We appreciated their suggestions and willingness to keep us informed every step of the way. The cake was so unique, and we received endless compliments on the design, taste and variety of cake, frosting and filling choices. For some couples, the wedding cake might not be one of the top priorities, but it certainly was for us. Sugar Lab brought us the cake of our dreams. -

Great flavors and beautiful cake!
Sugar Lab was recommended to me by our wedding coordinator for our wedding cake after our other cake place had fallen through. We didn't have time to try any of the flavors out before our big day(out of town). I trusted the reviews and my coordinator with our three tier wedding cake and could not have been happier!! It came out beautifully. We had flowers to be placed on the cake and they did a great job recreating the concept photo. The flavors were out of this world delicious! We went for the chocolate, raspberry with lemon, and birthday cake. All flavors were a hit! Thanks Sugar Lab!! -

Sweet Treats!
Sugar lab was fantastic to work with for our wedding. We had a lot of last minute changes to COVID and we weren't even sure if our wedding would continue. Sugar Lab understood the challenges we were dealing with and worked out a payment situation based around what CA was allowing with weddings.
The luau themed sugar cookies for our rehearsal dinner were so cute and fun! Best part was they tasted like heaven!
The 8" marbled cutting cake was absolutely delicious. Best fondant I have ever had! The little dessert boxes (brownie, cheesecake, cupcake) were a huge hit. We had family contacting us days after to see if we had any left. These were the perfect little packaged desserts for an unusual COVID wedding.
I wish we didn't live in Florida so we could use them for all of our events! -

Beautiful Cake and great experience
We chose Sugar Lab not just because they have delicious cakes, but because of how responsive and assertive they are to the process. They were the only bakery who called before requesting an application/questionnaire. It was so easy to set up an appointment and they let us try 10+ different flavors! It was incredible.
The experience was incredible and the service was fantastic. Very happy with our choice! -

Delicious and amazing!
Sugarlab was fantastic! They did the desserts for my wedding at Limoneira Ranch and we are so happy with our decision to go with them! From step 1, Ali was responsive, friendly, and so easy to work with. We did a tasting for 4 people and we left so full! She worked with us patiently, even though I changed the quantities of everything many times. She worked with our budget and we had a fantastic spread of desserts. I can't wait to go back for more treats in the future! -

Sugar Lab Bake Shop was super easy to work with for my wedding at Saddlerock Ranch.
I sent a photo of a wedding cake I had fallen in love with and they wanted to take on the task! The ordering process was very simple and they have an online payment system, which is super helpful since I don't live near Ventura.
The cake and desserts were so beautiful, I would definitely recommend them for any weddings or events! -

"These cupcakes are AMAZING" was heard so many times throughout the night. And they really were amazing. Every flavor we tried at our tasting with Ali was melt-in-your-mouth, brings-tears-to-your-eyes, call-your-mom-and-tell-her-about-it delicious. Our cutting cake was beautiful and delicious, as well! Form the very first e-mail where we went over different options, to the tasting where she provided us at least a dozen options to taste. To the delivery of the cake, which was everything I had hoped it would be, Allie was there and amazing. They were so helpful in finding what worked for us in our budget. They have so many options in flavors it's unreal! (we did some maple bacon cupcakes and people loved them!). We ended up with a cake and cupcakes which I thought would be totally out of our budget! They even delivered them after the ceremony because it was so hot that day and it could have melted! I would totally recommend this mom and daughter duo! -

I was very thankful because they were able to make our cutting cake gluten free. The cupcakes were a hit! We even had guests sneaking cupcakes before we had a chance to cut our cake. If you put out mini cupcakes, I would suggest a sign letting your guests know how many they can have because they are so delicious they want to try them all! -

We were worried about the heat with my wedding and they offered to personally walk in and do a presentation of the cake during the reception. I’m so happy they did because everyone got to personally see the bakers of the beautiful cake. The cake was stunning and fit my theme perfectly. Besides looking the part it tasted amazing. I don’t think we had one piece left over by the end of our wedding. I would highly recommend the sugar lab as a baker to anyone and everyone. -

Sugar Lab came recommended by a vendor friend of mine in the wedding industry. We schlepped to Ventura from Encino for our tasting and it was the best tasting cake we tried out of 7 bakeries. Pricewise it was in the middle of the options we tried. We ordered a two tier Lemon cake with lemon curd and swiss butter cream, and a kitchen cake of vanilla bean cake with raspberry jam and swiss buttercream. Our cake was delivered to our venue and decorated with pressed edible flowers I provided. Sadly, our venue never cut into the separate cake to provide two options, but that is on them, both were delicious. We also ordered a dozed gluten free cupcakes and a dozen vegan cupcakes to cater to those guests. Thank you Sugar lab for the delicious cake, we are looking forward to our anniversary cake already! -

Amanda Sent on 08/07/2017Not only did Ali and her team deliver a perfect looking cake - they made it taste absolutely fantastic! Sugar Lab doesn't just do the typical chocolate/vanilla flavors that I saw a lot of, they do all sorts of flavors and styles. We chose Almond Joy - which was amazing. Ali was able to go back and forth on the cake designs I had wanted, and was able to provide quick quotes and responses. We also did cookies and brownies which were a hit at the event. I am overjoyed that they have a storefront in Ventura, because now I can go in and "recreate my wedding' all the time - I can't wait til my 1 year anniversary where I can go back for my cake (instead of freezing it - I have a bad history of freezer burn!). Really loved all the things we tasted!
