Amazing food, cake, d'oeuvres, rehearsal dinner food!

Sugar and spice are your all-in-one stop for food of any kind! Customer service is amazing and they certainly deliver top quality food and service! We used then for all of our wedding needs! This company makes you feel like family and does their best to bring your vision to life! I would highly recommend!

Sugar and Spice - Wedding

Sugar and Spice did our cake and mini desserts for our wedding on 6/29/24 in KC. They made the process very easy and were always great to communicate and work with! My husband and I enjoyed working with them and we received MANY compliments on the cake / desserts at our wedding!

Best cake EVER!

It was obvious from the first bite at the cake tasting trial that we had found our wedding cake! The vanilla wedding cake is not only the best wedding cake we have ever had, but truly the best cake we have ever had! All of our wedding guests said the same thing! Highly impressed!

How many reasons can you invent to order cake??

What Heavenly Cake at Sugar and Spice Catering! When your guests are still bragging about your delicious wedding cake in two states and four counties for another week after the wedding, You know it was a total culinary delight to enjoy!

Of course, when it comes to true confessions, I must admit that when I had my first piece of Sugar and Spice’s Wedding White cake at the showcase, I couldn’t wait for the second piece….so I ate my daughter’s piece too! Then I had her go ask for two more because she needed her own piece of their amazingly delicious cake to savor! Our guests were treated to layers of flavors, such as: Wedding White, Lemon with Raspberry filling, Chocolate on Chocolate, Strawberry with Cream Cheese icing and don’t forget the Red Velvet!

We were so happy with their talented creations that we also had them serve their tasty dinner to our guests. Our menu was a great value for a full plate of delicious food: Salad, Glazed Ham, Smoked Turkey, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Southern Style Green Beans, Buttered Corn, Macaroni & Cheese and rolls. Rebecca’s Mac & Cheese had the perfect blend of al dente pasta and cheeses!

Their attention to detail for our happiness was exceptional! We were very thankful to have them cater our wedding and we are already planning our next cake order for family birthdays!

Of all the tastings I did, Sugar and Spice was hands down the best ever!

S&S has the softest, fluffiest, delicious cake in the KC metro. I can only best describe their cake as “a cloud” - it literally melts in your mouth. I am picky about wedding cake and had 5 different tastings, and S&S was my favorite hands down. They did my sister’s wedding 8 years ago and their cake is just as good now as it was then. My wedding guests raved about the cake and had multiple pieces! ALL of the flavors they offer are to die for. We had 4 different flavors because we just couldn’t decide on 1! We will be getting an anniversary cake from S&S because it’s just that memorable!

Amazing cake and food, a dream to work with!

Katrina and Becca are the best! They worked with me through 2 dates and a venue change. They adapted to it all with smiles. The food was amazing and everyone had seconds and thirds on cake. Highly recommend!

Wedding Cake to die for!!

We went with Sugar and Spice catering for our wedding cake and...WOW! Our wedding cake was to die for! Best cake I have ever had in my life. From the very start, Sugar and Spice Catering was so easy to work with and all their staff is so friendly. They respond to questions quickly and professionally. Everything went seamlessly and our wedding cake was everything I ever dreamed! I would definitely recommened their cakes for any event!

Rebekah was so easy to work with and came through 100% on my daughter's wedding cake. We had ordered a 3 tier white cake with buttercream frosting and a lemon cake with lemon filling and strawberry cake with strawberry filling and it was delivered exactly, as ordered. It was a little warmer that day and we had an outdoor venue and she made sure it stayed in the refrigerator at venue until close to time for reception to start. My husband, myself, and all of the people at my wedding absolutely LOVED the food and the staff. They were efficient, the food was warm and DELICIOUS, and they were so kind. I would recommended them to anyone who loves good food, good people, and good prices!

You will NOT regret using Sugar and Spice. They made my day so special! They were very accommodating to my requests, and my special day went by without a hitch. Additionally, their food and service are incredible. I would use them again and again. I was very pleased with my experience, and you will be too!

Food and cake both were great and under budget - I couldn't have asked for a nicer guy to deal with and Jennifer, who does the cakes, met with us a few times to discuss cake design and was wonderful.

Loved the food and the guy we worked with, Larry....he was great every time we came and always answered our emails quickly and returned our calls the same day.....we were under the wire to find someone quick and you would've thought we'd been working on the reception for years - he made everything perfect and helped us with rentals too!

I would definitely recommend Sugar and Spice to anyone! Their garlic mashed potatoes are awesome and their white cake is the best cake I've ever had in my life, bar none....the owner Larry, even helped me with my rentals and bar (and saved me a ton of money in the process by giving me his rental discount with a rental company and picking everything up, setting it up and taking it back - all for no extra money). This company is awesome and I loved the fact that I literally dealt with the owner the entire time!! Larry is a great guy - even my husband started going to the appointments with me....they made my reception perfect!

So delicious! It was beautiful too, but the cake was awesome and I got so many raves... the caterer actually threw away the top of the cake and when I got back from my honeymoon, I called the owner and he promised to make me another - for FREE - on my anniversary.....great price too, not the cheapest around but certainly worth every penny.

Everything was GREAT!!!!! I went to 3 different caterers....1 charged for tastings (WHAT???), 1 was a giant caterer, and this one....the giant caterer gave me a coordinator that didn't seem to know what she was doing, hemmed and hawed about everything, kept adding on charges to our bill, and told me she wouldn't be at the wedding if she booked another job bigger than mine - seriously? I made the best choice I could've made...the owner was great, the food was even better and the wedding cake was out of this world delicious!!!!!!

Fantastic food, loved their set-up and the price was actually within my budget.... have given their name out to at least 10 people since my wedding. I loved Jennifer, our coordinator, and would've definitely done my wedding cake with them if a friend hadn't offered to do it for free....their cake samples almost made me pay for one anyway! Definitely give them a try - small business, great location and willing to do anything for us!

The best cake I've ever had and the catering was superb as well.....Larry (I think that was his name but I could be wrong) was great to work with and was actually there the night of our wedding too! We've had so many compliments from our guests - everything was just perfect.

Sugar and Spice provided a beautiful and delicious wedding cake. 2 weeks out and our guests are still telling me how much they loved the Lemon cake! We also go the traditional white wedding cake which is sooo good too! Our design was the Drummer Boy and it was perfect for what we wanted!

Food was excellent! We received many compliments from wedding guests on the food and professionalism of servers. We had family style and strawberry wedding cake. I am using them again for a bridal shower for a family member.

The service we received from Sugar and Spice Catering was wonderful! The food was delicious and we believe that they have the best wedding cake we have ever had! They set up for the buffet line was professional and beautiful. They set up at the time we requested, the staff was friendly and very attentive to all of our guests. We would recommend their service to anyone!

Sugar and Spice Catering in Parkville,Mo has the best mash potatoes with bacon bits and cheese ever! Everyone at the wedding said that the ham and turkey was really good and moist, and the veggies was awesome!

We used Sugar and Spice for our wedding cake and reception food. They were both excellent. Jennifer went above and beyond! There presentation is beautiful too. You get a lot for your money! I have to say I tried a lot of wedding cake before choosing a vendor and Sugar and Spice has the best wedding cake in town!

We used Sugar and spice for our wedding cake and caterer. They did an absolutely phenomenal job. People still talk about how wonderful the food was. And the cake was divine. My husband didn't even get a piece of his grooms cake because people liked it so much. We would definately use this vendor again. A+++

I used Sugar and Spice Catering for my wedding cake, and it turned out great! They make everything from scratch, so it was super delicious. Although the cake design I chose was simple, it turned out perfect and loved it. They did a great job!
And although I didn't use their catering, I have heard wonderful things about it!

I can't say enough good comments about Sugar and Spice Catering. The food was so good and the cake was so moist. All of our guests told us they enjoyed the meal and cake. We did the full service buffet and cake cutting. It was worth every penny. We got to enjoy our reception without any worry. I highly recommend them.

Larry was amazing to work with! He let us do multiple taste testing as we decided our final menu, gave us great recommendations and allowed us to change our numbers just days before the wedding. The buffet set up looked awesome and the staff at the reception was so nice and accommodating. The price was just right and included everything we needed. We got a ton of compliments on the food and all the leftovers were gone by the end of the next day because the food was that good. I will be recommending them to all my friends and family! Thanks for your part in making our big day perfect!

Best wedding cake I have ever tasted in my entire life - and I went to 5 different bakers before giving them money....plus I got a nice silver stand for the cake for no extra charge....best decision I could've made!

When my wife found Sugar and Spice, i went online to read some of the reviews and became a little concerned at some of the negative reviews. Boy am i glad that they proved those reviews not only wrong, but blew my wife and I out of the water. To start, my wife wanted the cake from them for sure. The cake was THE BEST CAKE we have ever had. To say it was moist would be an understatement and the cake baker/decorator did a fabulous job for us!! The food was also fantastic. I am still having friends come up and say how great the mashed potatoes were. I am so glad that we had Sugar and Spice do the cake and catering for our reception.

Sugar and Spice sold me when I tasted their cake at a wedding show. Out of every vendor in the place they had the most incredible tasting cake in the house. I was amazed to see that their prices were very reasonable too!

Jennifer at Sugar & Spice baked a small 2-tier wedding cake and cupcakes for our wedding on Friday night, then made a 5-tier cake with back cakes for our larger reception the following evening. Both nights, the cake was completely cleared out. We had a variety of flavors (vanilla, chocolate, red velvet w/cream cheese, etc.) and everything was positively received by our guests. We heard many compliments during and after the wedding. Also, both cakes looked beautiful - exactly as I had described to her, with a rough texture and real flowers set on top. Since my husband and I didn't get much cake either night, we ended up eating our top tier that Sunday night......why wait a year? It was delicious!

Everyone raved about how good the food and cake was! And I must say the cake surpased my expectations. Melissa took my ideas and ran with them! The only problem I encountered was when the final payment was due, I wanted to pay by credit card and they told me I would have to pay the processing fee of 5. something percent. We ended up getting everything worked out! So if you choose to pay by credit card, ask upfront if your vendor accepts credit cards and if there are any fees associated. Larry, one of the owners, was at my event and everything ran so smooth. I would definitely recommend this vendor.

The wedding cake that Sugar & Spice made for me was like something out of a story book. It was absolutely amazing!! They took my idea and added a whole lot of extras. They were all very courteous and hard working. I highly recommend Sugar & Spice for all of your wedding and catering needs.

Everything was absolutely delish! Jennifer really took care of us and our guests. She even snuck away some of the appetizers to the back so my husband and I could make sure we tasted everything! People couldn't stop talking about how this was the best food they have ever had at a wedding, and I agree.

We used Sugar and Spice Catering for our 1/16/16 Wedding. I got great reviews from the guests about their food. We went with Smoked Turkey and BBQ Brisket. Everyone thought we used a local KC "fancy" BBQ joint... aka: it was awesome! Working with Larry was pretty easy overall, answered all my questions when I called during normal business hours. Thanks Again!

The wedding cake tasted amazing! I highly recommend the traditional white wedding cake and the red velvet flavors. All of the employees were easy to work with. The prices were comparable with other cake and bakeries I checked into.

Of the 5 or so tastings we had, the cake from Sugar & Spice catering was hands down the best. They were a little difficult to get ahold of due to some email trouble, but it all worked out in the end. The cake was delicious the day of the wedding, and I highly recommend them!

Excellent Cake & Cookies

We used Sugar and Spice for our wedding cake- the cake came out beautifully and tasted amazing. I would say that they are not proactive on communication, so you have to be the initiator, but the quality of the cake was excellent!

We didn't look far beyond Sugar and Spice when booking our caterer. We were sold at our first appointment. Larry was an absolute pleasure to sit and chat with while tasting items from the menu. Unfortunately, we had some trouble arranging things through his daughter along the way which really caused us to question their service. However, Jennifer pulled through for us in the end and everything went exactly as we hoped for at the reception. Many of our guests enjoyed the food selection and service.

If you want a great tasting wedding cake by your caterer, Sugar and Spice's wedding cakes will wow your guests for sure. Be prepared for them to eat more than one piece when planning for how many you are going to feed! My guests ate 3-4 pieces each because their cake is that good. I would recommend this catering service for their budget bride friendly prices and outstanding wedding cake!

It was a beautiful cake but the best part was the taste. Best tasting cake we have ever tasted. It moist with the best buttercream icing ever. Many can create great looking cakes but the taste is lacking, or vice versa. But this had both!

Sugar and Spice did our food and wedding cake, and everything was SO delicious! I did have problems getting in touch with them from the very beginning though, so be prepared for that. It will probably help if you live in KC (I was planning from another state). Although, everything turned out fine! Jennifer and Larry are great to work with, but organization is not necessarily one of their strong points. The people who actually staffed our reception weren't the friendliest and packed the cake up very quickly after we cut it (there were lots of people who didn't get any, but we had lots left over...). Not sure I would choose them again, but overall not terrible.

The food was incredible and we received rave reviews from every guest. However, the communication with the vendor is very poor and many times concerning. Before booking and setting up the tasting they were very responsive but after we paid the booking deposit contact suffered. There was a point where I wasn't sure if they would even show up for the reception because it was so difficult to get a response from them. The quality of food does not disappoint but you must be an extremely patient person to deal with the lack of responsiveness.

Food was good, service was lacking

We went with Sugar and Spice Catering because they had amazing wedding cake. Seriously, the cake was the best cake by far of all the cake we tried. We also had $500 off from a raffle we won, so that was nice too! After our initial meeting with them in their quaint little office in Parkville, MO, we enjoyed the food options they provided and were looking forward to working with them.

Our early conversation went well, but as we got closer to the date of our wedding, conversation fell off almost entirely. Emails we had sent in never got answered. We asked for a final invoice reflecting that we had paid in full and never received it. Even after asking our planner to get involved, the follow-up just wasn't there. About a week before our wedding I received a phone call which included a series of questions that made me a little apprehensive and did not leave me feeling confident.

The day of the wedding they arrived later than anticipated, but were able to get the food up and ready in time for the reception. While our food was very good, it would have been nice for them to have labels for the food that was on the buffet - not all of our guests were aware of what was on the table.

Our guests were done with their food before plates were being cleared, and our planner did most of the work helping to clear plates from tables before their assistance was offered. They also pulled the water and lemonade early - it would have been nice to have that out a bit longer and I would have made alternate arrangements if I had known.

Overall, the food was good, but they definitely could improve on their responsiveness and communication. Planning a wedding is stressful enough without wondering about your caterer!

I was disappointed with Sugar and Spice's service. Although the food was very good and the cake was delicious, I had some concerns leading up to the wedding and the day of. We didn't get a final total from them until 5 days before the wedding, which is fine except they only like to take checks. We were scrambling to transfer money the week of the wedding in order to pay the caterer. We didn't get the final invoice until 2 weeks after the event. I had ordered a vegetarian meal for one of my bridesmaids, which they forgot. They ended up bringing a veggie lasagna in but not until after everyone else had eaten. We rented glassware from them for the bar and asked how many glasses they recommended based on the number of guests. We ended up running out of glasses very early and the staff had to wash dishes in order for people to have a drink. In the end everything was fine, I just wasn't overly impressed.

I wasn't very happy w/ the service I recieved from them. I was doing drop off service for my reception and was told that all food would be set up and ready to go on my buffet tables. When I got to my reception I found out that they had in fact not put out any of my food, and that when they delivered it they brought in ants. The person dropping off the food had them crawling on her. The food was pretty good despite the other problems we had I had brisket, turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, corn, rolls, broccoli/carrots/cauliflower medley w/ cheese and was happy w/ everything but the medley

As we told your point of contact at the reception site, there were ants all over the countertops, especially by the sink area.....we certainly did NOT bring ants into your neighborhood clubhouse.

Working with Sugar and Spice was the worst decision we made in the wedding process and was the single most frustrating and stressful aspect to the planning process.

We often waited weeks before hearing responses to our emails and many times had to follow up with multiple emails and calls before hearing a response.

We worked for ovre a month to get a formal contract signed and were treated as though they were doing us a favor as that is not normally something they do.

Two weeks prior to the wedding, we waited over 10 days before hearing a response back on several outstanding questions. When we voiced our frustrations, we were met with curt responses and treated as though our event was not important enough and that we were unreasonable to expect a faster response time as they were "very busy."

During the setup, we asked the caterer to place the cake topper we had purchased on top of the cake. 25 minutes prior to the ceremony the head caterer stormed up to the groom and said "You're killing me! If this falls off I will NOT be held responsible."

The food was fine, the presentation was fine, the cost was low. They handled the contact with the rental company which was helpful. The stress and frustration was not worth it.

We would strongly NOT recommend using Sugar and Spice and we have asked our venue to remove them from the preferred caterer list.

I was so disappointed with this catering company! For all the things that went awesome with our wedding, this was an absolute nightmare! First off they didn't decorate our cake very well, the design and filling was bleeding through our cake so it looked like it was running everywhere. The people that delivered it to our reception were absolutely horrible to our wedding coordinator and when our coordinator pointed out that they did not bring the punch like they were supposed to supply they ran to a grocery store, bought some kool-aid which that is not all that you use to make punch you need other ingredients and she shoved it all onto our wedding coordinator to make! Would not recommend this place to anyone except maybe someone I would want to make cry on their wedding day! Please take my advice and NEVER use this place! They embarrassed us on our wedding day and almost ruined our wedding! Oh and they would not return our family's calls to come pick up the equipment that was used to hold the cakes so when my wife and I got back from our honeymoon we had a rude call on our phone that said if we did not return them soon that we would be charged for the serving trays etc. so we had to travel almost an hour one way to take back the stuff and an hour back home and the lady that made our cake and decorated it called me on the way back home and started yelling at me on the phone because I didn't like their service.

Sugar and Spice Catering's reply:

I'm confused with your review. When you came in to the shop - with the items you agreed to bring back before entering into a contract with us - your problem was that we had put filling in the "back" cakes, rather than the wedding cake. I told you then it was to keep from having filling show through since you had such a simple design with buttercream....but your review says the opposite. We gave you free punch, even though it wasn't included in your pricing and told you at the time that it was simply HI-C punch - which is exactly what we brought you, after driving 20 minutes to Sam's Club (where we buy it), then bringing it back. In fact, your original complaint was that we hadn't prepared the punch for you - until I reminded you that I had first told you the punch would be free as long as you made it....I never once raised my voice to you even though you yelled at us and slammed the door - and complained that you had to bring items back that "you didn't have time for". Returning cake parts and silver plateaus is a very common practice among cake decorators - especially considering that your reception was a 45-min drive and I didn't charge you a penny for delivery costs. I did, on the other hand, offer free cakes for the year (Anniversary, Birthdays, Showers) to make you happy - which you gladly accepted and USED. If the experience was so horrible, why would you continue to come back for more cakes time and time again over the next 12 months?
