DJs with taste! We had a blast!

We had an excellent experience with Style Matters DJs! Are music taste is the opposite of wedding music and these guys get it! Spencer was great to work with, responsive, reasonable pricing, and matched us with our DJ, Jonathan who totally understood the assignment! We created pretty extensive playlists because we are big music people and he nailed it! Great dj skills mixing and making all the transitions fun! He was on time and everyone had a blast! Thank you Jonathan and Spencer!!!

Awesome experience!

We had such an incredible experience with Style Matters for our wedding at the Honeycomb and Cafe Brauer! From start to finish, everything was seamless and so well-executed. We worked with Spencer throughout the planning process, and he was an absolute gem—kind, super responsive, and genuinely helpful with every question we had leading up to the day.

For the ceremony and cocktail hour, we hired their string trio, and they were absolutely amazing. The music was beautiful and truly elevated the atmosphere—so many guests commented on how lovely it sounded!

Our DJ for the reception was Margot, and she was fantastic. She struck the perfect balance of being fun and energetic while also staying professional and respectful of our preferences. She followed our "do not play" list carefully, but still read the crowd perfectly and played a great mix of songs that kept the dance floor packed until midnight! Her announcements throughout the evening were clear and well-timed, and the overall sound quality for both the reception and earlier parts of the day was excellent.

We’re so happy we chose Style Matters and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-tier music and service for their big day!

Amazing dj!

We had the best night of our lives thanks to Style Matters DJ! We used them for our wedding and couldn't have asked for a better DJ, we have been getting compliments nonstop post-wedding. Spencer paired us with Devin (DJ Archie) and he was phenomenal. We told him that we wanted our guests on the dance floor all night and he did not disappoint. He played hit after hit and was able to read the vibe of the crowd really well. Even after 4 hours of dancing our guests did not want to stop. Thank you for making our wedding so memorable and insanely fun!

10/10 would recommend!

We were lucky enough to get "Duke" as our DJ for our November wedding. He was the BEST! He came recommended by our day-of coordinator, and that recommendation was affirmed in our first meeting when he came prepared with a list of questions that really go to the core of my and my partner's music tastes, which are quite different. To be fair, I'm more a fan of pop and country fan, and my partner is a huge believer that country isn't real music, and EDM / dance pop is where it's at. Duke was able to help us find some common ground and create a playlist that played to both of our preferences and kept the dance floor alive all night long (though my partner would likely still argue that he snuck in one too many "pop country" hits to the playlist for his taste lol).

Duke brought so much fun energy to the evening (beyond just the music he also was an amazing emcee) and kept even our older guests engaged and excited to come out and party with some fun oldies toward the beginning of the night before transitioning to more traditional "club" vibes later on that the bridal party could vibe with. Duke was also great in helping us curate our bridal party intros and music for dinner, throwing in some fun Disney songs that had our guests laughing and singing along, absolutely setting the right tone for the night right off the bat. We knew we would be in good hands with Style Matters, but felt so lucky to have Duke be a part of our day and be our music deity for the night.

We got a Style Matters DJ as part of our venue—they spin at Greenhouse Loft. We were thrilled with Max, who was cheerful, responsive, and easy to talk to. We had a couple of special requests (ranging from special dances to "please don't use the phrase 'ladies and gentlemen'") and he handled it all, including a little light emceeing, without blinking. (Not literally.) Almost uniquely, he made it hard for me to want to leave the dance floor; he just "got" our vibe perfectly. Highly recommend.

Perfect Soundtrack

Spencer and Style Matters are a dream to work with. We had Ryan for our big day, and I cannot express how amazing the music was throughout the day. The detailed form provided before your wedding is fantastic, and was a major help for us, as we stressed about music for a long time! We received so many compliments, but we can honestly say that EVERYONE was dancing until the lights came on! Ryan did an incredible job keeping our crazy families on the dance floor, and everyone raved about the tunes all night! Major, major thanks for setting the tone for our day :)

Only book if you are serious about dancing all night!

Esteban was an absolute gem at our wedding! He kept the party alive and the dance floor hopping all night long. His music selection was on point, and he seamlessly blended different genres to cater to all our guests' tastes. He listened to our tastes and helped provide an awesome set list. Esteban's energy and enthusiasm were infectious, and he truly understood the vibe we wanted for our special day. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ to create the perfect atmosphere. We received so many compliments and many people asked how we found such an awesome DJ. Would definitely book Esteban again!

Perfect Match

We had DJ Larry. He was the perfect fit for us. We were complimented on the music all night. He played our favorite songs and more. The mix all blended perfectly together. He was extremely entertaining and attentive. In our must playlist we had Wonderwall. I had put that song in because it was in my vows. My now husband requested for me on New Years party ship. It was the middle of club music and he did it to make me feel more comfortable. He played it as our last dance and it was the perfect song for it. My husband found me and hug me and we danced and sang together. I thanked the DJ for playing that and how much it meant to me. He said that he was putting together last songs and decided he must play this one. I was surprised because I thought someone told him about my vows and planned it. He said he must of felt it. I am so happy we were paired with him.

Kept the dance floor going all night!

DJ Max sure knows how to throw a party! We’ve never seen a dance floor so packed from end-to-end, and we were pleasantly surprised to see how many “grown ups” (parents, aunts, uncles, etc) were out on the floor. Max took our brain dump of song ideas and seamlessly threaded them into a playlist that appealed to all demographics, including weaving in some songs that we hadn’t thought of. Our only trouble was finding a time to take a break from dancing… any time we tried to leave, another favorite song came on! Highly recommend DJ Max from Style Matters!

Would recommend Style Matters

These guys rock and it as so fun to work with them throughout the process. We hired Spencer and Style Matters to DJ our Sangeet and Reception and had a blast. Margot was our DJ'ed for our Sangeet and Duke DJ'ed our Reception. They both did a great job. My wife and I really appreciated the thoughtfulness involved in the process as well - they asked us to provide 'Must Play', 'Like', and 'Do not play' song lists and we had a 30-45 min conversation with our DJs so they could better understand who we are, what kind of music we like, what are guests are like, etc. They also helped us put together the music for our first dance at the reception and another dance at our Sangeet.

Great time for all!

We began planning our wedding pre-COVID and immediately booked Style Matters - they were highly recommended by our venue and had great reviews. COVID happened, we postponed to later in 2020, and Style Matters was SO understanding and flexible. They worked with us for our new date, and we ended up finally having our mini-wedding on 10/2. Our DJ was Duke, and he did a fantastic job blending the varying tastes of all of our guests. Really went above and beyond my expectations at every point in the wedding planning process.

Perfect Vendor!

August 2019: Max was our Style Matters DJ and I cannot put into words how great he did! Our wedding guests were dancing the entire night and the music was absolutely perfect. I attended the Style Matters Spring DJ showcase and know that the other DJs are equally as talented, you can’t go wrong with choosing Style Matters. Would 100% recommend!

Style Matters is truly the best of the best!! My husband and I hosted our wedding at Ovation and had Chris as our dj. The process was so easy; we filled out a questionnaire about our wedding and taste in music and were paired with Chris, who was a perfect match. We were a little nervous since the dj can make or break a wedding reception, but after our conversation with Chris prior to the wedding, our fears were gone. Chris was an absolute professional and extremely talented. He was able to flawlessly incorporate all of our requests and preferences to create the dance party of our dreams. Our guests did not want to leave the dance floor at the end of the night! We can't thank Style Matters or Chris enough for making it the most fun night of our lives.

Amazing Party Thanks To Style Matters DJs!

We worked with Jason for our wedding at Untitled Supper Club, and we couldn't be happier! Music was of our highest priority, and Jason fully understood and embraced our preferences and vision. When we met Jason a few months prior to the wedding, he genuinely desired to get to know us as a couple first before diving into his profession and the event logistics. It gave us confidence that Jason would tailor the night to how we wanted. We wanted the night to feel like a big party, and thanks to Jason, that desire was fully met! Not only did we dance for the majority of the night (which is rare for the bride and groom to get to do), but our guests were also dancing non-stop. At multiple points in the night, not a single guest was sitting in their chair - everyone was packed on the dance floor! Jason also went above and beyond to dress in velvet (which was part of our wedding "theme"). It made us so happy to have someone who truly cared about making the night special for us. DJ Tim was a hit with all our guests!

DJ Tim added such a nice touch to our wedding day: not only did he work with my husband to make sure he played exactly the right minutes of the right version of the song he wanted to process to, but he made the effort to let us know how touched he was by my dad's speech. And, of course, he was a hit with all our guests, from young kids to our friends to friends of our parents--he really knew how to read the room and keep people entertained. I'm so grateful for how thoughtful and communicative Tim was, he did an incredible job and I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Great and Accommodating DJ

We had Duke as our Style Matters DJ for our wedding and we were so impressed with him! Duke really took the time during our conversations leading up to our wedding to get to know our style and what our guests would enjoy. Day of, he coordinated well with our jazz trio during cocktail hour to ensure that the wedding party introductions to prerecorded music flowed well with the live jazz. Duke can really read a crowd and knows how to blend a variety of songs and beats to keep the party going, whether that is higher energy or a slower jam. Our guests were on the dance floor all night. We would highly recommend Duke and the Style Matters community for a wedding or special event DJ!

Awesome DJ Company

We got married 9/28/18 at Ovation Chicago. Our Style Matters' DJ was Dustin and he did a fantastic job from the initial interview through the event. We had ambitions for a 5+ hour dance and Dustin (and guest appearance from Spencer) kept it going the entire time. We provided him with comprehensive list of our music preferences and his song choices both on and off list were perfect. I could not have crafted a better playlist myself. I highly recommend both Dustin & Style Matters for your next event.

DJ Teebot for the Win

I had the most wonderful expereince with DJ Teebot. We had our wedding at a small resort in SW MIchigan and he actually had been going to the same resort with his family for years. So it added to how special the night was. He kept the crowd engaged. Style Matters got quite a few more clients from my friends and family after my wedding. He crushed it! Onto the service, it was great setting everything up They even had a night to showcase all the DJs' talents and clients could pick out what DJ they would prefer if they did at all - because honestly they were all wonderful. You will not have a bad experience, I promise.

We had DJ Rio Anderson for our wedding this last weekend. Oh my, did he put on a show. In fact, our photographer said he was one of the best DJs he has ever seen at a wedding. ALL of our guests kept telling us the next day how amazing our DJ was. Rio kept the party going until almost 1 AM, which was very nice of him... he didn’t need to do that but the dance floor was FULL! Thank you Rio for making our wedding one for the books!!!

My husband and I worked with Style Matters for our October wedding, and it was nothing short of awesome. More specifically, we worked with Max, and he kept everyone on the dance floor ALL NIGHT LONG which was our main request. He seamlessly weaved in some odd must-play songs like "Sitting On the Dock of the Bay" and Toto's "Africa" without the energy ever decreasing from our dance floor. He was easy going, fun to work with, and most certainly not cheesy. I would highly recommend working with Style Matters!

Having a lively and danceworthy music experience was at the top of our list when planning our wedding reception. We found just that with our DJ, Noah, from Style Matters. From the time that the music started playing, we literally had a packed dancefloor for 3.5 hours straight. There was never a "lul" or a song that even began to make a dip in the dancefloor. Noah incorporated all of the songs we wanted to hear, but did so with the most perfect timing and sequencing to make sure every single one was a hit. He was able to mix so many different genres that we love, including some Irish jigs that played homage to our Irish heritage and engagement. Our guests have repeatedly told us how incredible the music was and that it was the best and liveliest reception they've ever attended. Don't look any further for your DJ, Style Matters is IT!

Our January wedding was at Ovation so the Style Matters DJ was included as part of our venue amenities. I had already heard great things about Style Matters previously and we could not have been more excited to work with them! Spencer and team were so easy to work with, very attentive, and have a serious ability to throw a great party. Spencer was easy to get a hold of and took all our input into account when suggesting a DJ that would fit our musical style. Although we were a bit nervous by just being “assigned” a DJ we trusted Spencer’s opinion and it couldn’t have worked out better. Spencer has a great strategy for knowing both his DJ’s and his clients (via the music questionnaire). Meeting up with Andrew Pascale was simple and he was very receptive and open to meeting at a time and place that worked for us. After sitting down with Andrew for an hour or so we knew he was a great fit and would provide us with a great dance floor. He was very flexible in his style and understood that this is a party for us and wanted everyone to have fun. He never forced any types of music and with his many years of experience he offered up a lot of good suggestions to keep the flow and party going. On the day of the wedding Andrew played for 6 hours in all types of styles ranging from old school crooners for cocktail hour, to pop hits, to country. The feedback from all of our guests was that he did an amazing job moving through various styles of music that kept people on the dance floor. We would highly recommend both Style Matters as well as Andrew to perform at any special occasion as their expertise and flexibility truly incredible. Thanks Spencer and Andrew!

Style Matters was the best choice we could have made for music! Max was our Dj and he kept the dance floor alive all night. He was very attentive to our needs and really took the time to understand our vibe. When initially booking we spoke to Spencer, the owner and the process was pretty seamless. We met him at their venue (which is beautiful!) and discussed our needs and goal for our big day. Later Spencer sent us a questionnaire to fill out and paired us with our match which was Max. We then met Max at their venue to discuss the questionnaire and it gave us the chance to get to know each other and allow him to get a good feel for what we wanted. Our guests raved about the music and said it was the "most fun reception they have ever been to!" and we heard this a lot. Another great thing about Max is that he provided us direction and suggestions in areas where we had no clue. For example I did not want traditional Cannon and D for the entrance when walking down the aisle, but I did want something soft and romantic. He gave us to the tools to narrow our search and find the perfect music that complemented us as a couple. Max even offered some help and advice when it was outside the music realm- he was so fun and easy to work with with. Max is very talented and has great experience and expertise in all genres which allowed us to nail our wide variety of music choices in a seamless way. He did an awesome job and I would highly recommend Style Matters AND Max to provide the entertainment for your special day or any event for that matter!

We had Scott as our DJ and had such a fun time dancing at our wedding! Everyone had such a great time and Scott made perfect music choices based on our likes/requests. He also made sure we chatted over the phone (since we live out of state) before the big day so he made sure he understood our vision for the night. He even set up some equipment outside to play music while we did our sparkler send off. Highly recommend!

I am a Wedding Planner with Storybook Weddings and Events, and I worked with Torben from Style Matters on a wedding in October. He was so easy to work with! We had a short window of time available to flip the room and set everything up, and he was quick! He also kept the crowd up and dancing, and he even gave live updates for the Cubs game that was occuring that night, which was a last-minute request by the couple and their friends and family. MY FAVORITE VENDOR EVER! If music is important to you, if the chicken dance and hokey pokey and electric slide and the rest make you barf and you want someone who actually LOVES music to play it at your wedding go though this DJ service.
We booked Style Matters about 6 months out after meeting with the owner Spencer at the event space. He was very laid back and welcoming and so much easier to talk to then the others we had looked into. In April they invited us to a free event to showcase all of their djs complete with drinks and sushi, it was a great night. It was there we realized we loved ALL their DJs and couldn't wait to see who we "matched up" with come wedding time. Come June I got antsy and asked for the survey they said they would send and it was perfect timing because that sucker took A WHILE to fill out. A basic listing of what music you wanted for the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the dinner the events in your reception, the speakers etc. and most importantly the songs you wanted to hear, the music you're into, and the music you most definitely didn't want played. I read they meet rather close to the wedding so at 3 weeks out I sent back in the survey, Spencer looked it over and immediately told us three DJs to read about on the site to pick from. There we chose Margot, the KickAss DJ of our dreams. After meeting with her we just clicked, hammered out details about 10 days out, she sent us some suggestions for things we hadn't figured out yet she was awesome and responsive just like Spencer. All I put for dinner music was basically low-fi, Wilco, and maybe some Stax music and she literally played all my favorite songs ever while we ate the wedding, I fangirled HARD. The dancing portion of the evening was no different, she played to my and my husbands tastes, she played our must plays she had the floor moving all night!

Style Matters provided the DJ for our May 2016 wedding - and we could not have been happier. We spoke with Spencer at the beginning of the process and then from that meeting along with an in depth questionnaire about our musical preferences he was able to suggest potential DJs for our big day. We ended up working with John Simmons who was amazing. He has a formula that keeps the dance floor full. We had people of all ages out on the dance floor all night. He played all of our favorites along with many songs we hadn't even thought to ask for but loved once they started playing. He also does a great job shortening any songs you need for first dances, intros, etc... and does a great job of keeping things moving. He was the perfect fit for our wedding/party. We have received nothing but amazing reviews of John and the music he played since the wedding.

Dustin knocked it out of the park for our wedding on April 1st. One of the reasons we chose our venue, Ovation, was because of the sound system, and so the DJ was a very important decision. The venue owner gave us a few suggestions for DJs from their sister company, Style Matters. We read the reviews on Dustin and decided he would be a good fit.
We met with Dustin a week before our wedding, and as soon as we sat down, we knew we made the right choice. He was so nice and flexible and really just accommodated any request that we had. The song list we had given to him was all over the place – country, dance, rap, oldies, 90s songs. We thought the DJ was going to think we were crazy, but the first thing Dustin said when he sat down was how much he loved the music we chose and how he thought we were going to have the best dance party, which is EXACTLY what we wanted.
Dustin was unbelievable the night of the wedding. We had so many guests comment on how amazing the DJ was, and the dance floor was packed the entire night. He catered to the audience and if a song wasn’t well received and people started leaving the dance floor, Dustin would cut the song short and transition into another one. On top of all of his DJing abilities, Dustin is just such a genuinely nice person and so easy to work with.
At the end of the night, we wanted him to play a few more songs even though we only had the venue until 12:00am, and once we confirmed with the venue that it would be OK, Dustin kept playing for another 20-25 minutes. He really went above and beyond, and we can’t thank him and Ovation enough for that extra time on the best day of our lives. We were so lucky to have him as our DJ at our wedding. Thanks Dustin!

Let me start by saying that to us, the DJ was one of the most important choices we had to make, since the DJ has arguably the most impact on whether or not guests have a good and memorable time at a wedding. We met with the owner, Spencer, pretty early in our planning process. We had previously met with two other DJ companies, and were rather torn between them. After meeting with Spencer, our choice was easy. He answered all of our questions with ease and patience, and made us feel instantly comfortable. One of our main priorities was to have a DJ who wasn’t talking on the mic all night, and he made us feel very sure that this was not just his philosophy, but that of his entire organization.

A month before our wedding, we were paired with Dustin. We met with him soon after, and went over our timeline and music preferences. Dustin couldn’t have been more accommodating and patient with us, and was a true professional from the first second we met with him. He went through our questionnaire thoroughly and asked us questions where appropriate. We left that meeting with a strong sense that he knew exactly what we wanted, without having to spell it out.

On the wedding day, Dustin was at our venue early and handled our introductions and dinner music very well. He worked well with our day-of coordinator to keep things moving (dances, speeches, etc.), and even to slow things down a bit when it was obvious people were enjoying mingling after dinner. Once the dance floor was opened, it stayed full the entire evening. I've read that same statement in DJ reviews before, and thought it was an exaggeration, but at least in our case, it was 100% true. This was our primary goal of the evening, and Dustin did a great job with song selection and tempo to make sure there was something for everyone. We had countless guests come up and ask about our DJ and complement his playlist.

In advance of our wedding we researched a number of DJ companies in Chicago and Style Matters immediately jumped out among the best. We met with Spencer well ahead of time and were consistently impressed by his responsiveness, professionalism, and obvious passion for what he and the Style Matters team does for their clients. Our good friends had Style Matters DJ their wedding a few months before our own, we knew we'd made the right choice without a doubt.

We were paired with Noah for our New Year's Eve wedding. We met a few weeks in advance over Thai food to review the thorough, and incredibly helpful, Style Matter questionnaire and to discuss the overall tone of the evening. It was wonderful having the opportunity for us to get to know each other in advance. Noah provided the music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and even compiled a short mix of our favorite songs for the first dance. The evening could not have been more memorable and Noah was a huge part of that. We had agreed on a song for the first slow dance "the first time the dance floor slows down;" it was never needed. The dance floor was lively all night and that was our exact hope, especially being New Year's Eve. We even had to move a table further off the dance floor to create more space. At midnight Noah handled the countdown, a brief interlude of Auld Lang Syne, a quick mix and we were off and running toward the end of the night.

If you are looking for a wedding DJ, or simply for an event, we could not more highly recommend Style Matters and Noah.

We were paired with DJ Dustin for our Labor Day weekend 2015 wedding. He was extremely responsive to numerous emails, took a lot of time getting to know us, and really delivered on our wedding day! The ceremony and reception took place on a boat and Dustin rolled with the logistical challenges of sound systems/mics and also chicago noise ordinances on the river. guests raved about the music and everything went smoothly! we loved the long questionaire ahead of time because it made me feel confident they would deliver what we wanted- and helped us think about what we actually wanted. loved that their pricing and fees are readily available on the website and absolutely seemed fair! We later got an audio recording of our whole ceremony/music and all the toasts that went through the mic- this has been great to have since we did not have a videographer. all in all very stress free experience and great all around!

Our September 18th 2015 wedding exceeded both myself and husband's expectations for the dance floor. We thought our "younger" friends would dance....but had NO idea that the DJ Spencer suggested for us would have EVERYONE out on the dance floor ALL night long! We just couldn't believe how fun OUR wedding was!!!! Spencer invited us to an open house event he hosted for all his DJ's on the team which really helped us get an idea of the venue space and how amazing it looks in the evening and then we got a great idea of the variety of DJ's this company offers. Spencer gave us the option to request more DJ suggestions....but he really said our style would best match the DJ Max....and we were beyond thrilled with all the music he played. The mix between current music and classics was perfect to keep the whole crowd engaged. We also splurged and invested in the three strings quartet: String Theory for our ceremony and am SOOO happy we spent the extra money to have live music to walk down the aisle to. Everyone enjoyed the personal flare I added to the end having us leave to the Star Wars theme :)

We loved working with Style Matters for our New Year's Eve wedding. Spencer was awesome in the initial meeting and ended up giving us a choice of two DJ's he thought would be good for our wedding. We chose one who randomly ended up being the DJ at our friends' wedding that was just three weeks before our own! So, I can say from the perspective of both a guest & a bride, Style Matters is awesome! Our DJ was Ryan and he was really great to work with, listened to what we were looking for and completely delivered. At our friends wedding, we witnessed him go above & beyond to prevent a disturbance to their ceremony, and we had so much fun dancing right up until the end of the reception. For our wedding, he managed all of our announcements, played the songs on the request list at the perfect times, did the New Year's countdown & kept the dance floor rocking all night long! So many of my friends commented on what a great DJ we had and how much they enjoyed the music at our wedding.

We decided to book Style Matters for our July wedding because of their excellent reviews. They were just as FANTASTIC as all of the reviewers say.

Our DJs name was Andrew and although I wasn’t able to meet with him before our wedding; my husband assured me that he would do a great job! He did not disappoint!

We honestly had a packed dance floor the entire night! People I would have never expected to dance were out their seats “breaking it down!” Andrew did a great job of having a mixture of classic oldies songs with songs from today. One of my bridesmaids exclaimed the next day, “Wow I have never seen such a packed dance floor!”

I cannot recommend this company enough! They are organized, have a great system in place, and talented DJs. I also personally recommend Andrew. He had a good sense of how to please the crowd and keep everyone on their feet. Hats off to Style Matters and Andrew!

I got in touch with Spencer a couple months before our wedding reception. Because our party was at a bar, we weren’t sure whether we really needed a DJ. We had some pretty particular ideas about the songs we wanted to hear, and considered making our own playlist. I knew that the night would run more smoothly if we had a pro in control, but it is a hefty chunk of change - in the end, I really feel it was totally worth it. Spencer helpfully explained the role our DJ would play in the evening, and he patiently answered all of our questions. After we paid our deposit, we completed a detailed questionnaire about our event, guests, style, and taste. Spencer paired us up with Matt (aka DJ Fancy Boy). I think this is a great model - Style Matters has plenty of DJs, so they have the flexibility to find someone who will be perfect for your event.
We video chatted with Matt about our answers to the questionnaire, and we were happy to learn that we had very similar tastes. As we talked about all of the songs that we had listed, he made some other suggestions and took great notes. He was willing to hit all of the tunes on our must play list, and we immediately felt confident that he really grasped what we expected to hear.
The night of the party, everything went smoothly. Matt was all set up right on time, and throughout the entire evening, he did a fantastic job of keeping people on the dance floor and accommodating a variety of tastes. We started out with some classics for cocktail hour, then moved into some indie rock over dinner, and finally ended with a great blend of 80s-90s pop, rock, and hip-hop. It suited our tastes perfectly. So many of our guests commented on how great he was! In fact, we were having such a good time that Matt willingly stayed an extra TWO HOURS (for a fee, of course). It was awesome to be able to make that decision to continue partying on the fly. Thank you so much, Matt and Spencer!

My husband I got married on 7/11/15, and we had an excellent experience with Style Matters DJs. My husband is very into the music scene, so he spent quite a bit of time researching the best wedding DJs in Chicago. When we met with Spencer at Style Matters, it was clear that they were exactly what we were looking for! After filling out an extensive survey about our musical preferences, Nate was matched up with us to DJ our wedding-- and we’re so glad he was available!

One of our biggest priorities for our wedding was that everybody was out on the dance floor-- and Nate made that happen! He did such a great job of reading the crowd and playing songs that had everybody (and I mean everybody) tearing it up until the very last minute we had the venue. Even during the dinner portion of our reception, the background music that Nate played was so great that my husband actually said: “Wow, I feel like this is exactly the music I would pick!” It was really impressive-- clearly Nate had a good understanding of the styles of music we liked and made sure the music suited our preferences!

If you’re looking for a group of DJ’s that can actually read a crowd and not just press play on a playlist, Style Matters is definitely the way to go. We are so happy we picked them for our wedding-- it wouldn’t have been nearly as fun without Nate DJing for us!

Ok, I'm going to be completely honest - I really wanted Toast an Jam as my wedding DJ, but thy were totally booked. I was bummed after finding this out and delegated the task of wedding DJ hiring to my then fiancee. He found Style Matters, he signed a contract with Spencer who matched us up with Chris as our DJ. Chris met with us ahead of time to make sure we were on the same page for all the wedding music which really put some of my nerves at ease. Chris was AWESOME at our wedding at the Brookfield Zoo last weekend! We had a tall order for him - 4 different set ups (ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing all in separate locations throughout the zoo) and he delivered! He kept our guests dancing all night without any of the cheesey typical wedding songs (no chicken dance!). We got multiple compliments about how awesome our music was from all generations of guests. I had a couple of people come up to me and say their husbands didn't dance and their own wedding but they danced all night at ours! My own husband who is NOT a dancer managed to get out there for awhile too ;) If you are looking for a great, professional wedding DJ then go with Style Matters. They're a little pricey but you really pay for the quality you get with them. Hire them, you won't be sorry!

I hired Style Matters (Chris) for my wedding on May 30th. We decided to get married the beginning of May and only contacted Style Matters after we found a venue (the Ivy Room) and were suggested to use Style Matters. From the moment I contacted Spencer (and Noah), they were amazing! They figured out my style and matched me with a DJ who had similar musical background/interests. Chris was incredible. We talked on the phone, met in person and then he DJ'd a great party. He was incredibly detail oriented, and responsive the whole time. In addition, our party had lots of musical performances and even a dance choreography, and Chris just went with it! We ended up spontaneously changing our first dance, and he made all he spontaneity seamless. It was amazing because the wedding took on a life of its own. Everyone said it was the best wedding reception they had ever been to, and that was due, in part, to Chris being able to mesh well with us and our style. I could not recommend him (and Style Matters) more. Thank you guys!

Oh my god, I have never had more fun in my life!!

We hired Style Matters because we heard from multiple people that this group is the best of the best. AND YES THEY ARE!! Honestly, if you want to have a wedding PARTY (not just some basic reception) then go with Style Matters.

We worked with Duke and he was unbelievable!! I had friends who are getting married in the near future rush up to us to ask about the DJ. Another friend of mine, who's not even planning a wedding or party asked me who Duke was because he wanted to follow him on social media.

Duke had all the guests on the floor dancing. I believe I saw one Facebook comment about our wedding, "These people are having fun like I've never seen at a wedding." To me and my now husband, that meant the world.

Style Matters are professionals. They take their work very seriously, they are unbelievably professional and they KNOW how to get people on the dance floor.

Chris Nergaard (aka DJ Mass Transit) is best DJ I have ever met. Down to earth. Good taste. Flexible. Easy to talk to and work with. Spencer and Noah were awesome! Spencer was extremely organized and great with communication. Spencer quickly responded to emails and answered all our questions. He was always professional and helpful. Nate was our assigned DJ, and he was fantastic. Nate took his time to work with us to get the reception just right. Nate has a great personality, and is extremely talented. He definitely knew how to keep the dance floor crowded all night!

String Theory did such an amazing job. The musicians performed beautifully. There was one song that I really wanted during the ceremony, but I was nervous as I was told that they never performed the song before. However, Spencer worked with me and String Theory to make sure that song was playing while I was walking down the aisle. It was perfect!

I am beyond grateful to Style Matters and String Theory for providing such amazing entertainment for my wedding September 13th. It is true that a bad DJ can totally kill an otherwise great wedding, and I couldn't be more pleased with how my wedding turned out. I hired Style Matters for the reception and String Theory to play during the ceremony. We ended up having Andrew DJ the reception, and to say I am grateful would be an understatement. He knew exactly what to play and when to play it. I have never been to a wedding where the dance floor was filled the entire time, and to have this experience and my own wedding is overwhelming. Overall, we had a wonderful experience with Style Matters. Spencer, the owner, was super professional and responsive. He paired us with a DJ based on an extensive questionnaire my fiance and I filled out together.

DJ Intel, Jason, was incredible at our wedding, giving us the best dance party we could have imagined. He showed an incredible feel for the pulse of the crowd, and had some impromptu responses to the best man speech and to calls from the crowd during the dance party that were amazing, really contributing to making it such an amazing night. We couldn't have had a better experience overall with a wedding DJ.

THE BEST. Seriously. The owner, Spencer, is just an amazing person to work with. I've never had someone email back so quickly - the man is prompt. The greatest attribute of Style Matters is they have access to djs of various tastes and styles (and they all play venues in Chicago), so he will pick the best dj that suits you and your fiancé. Travas was specially chosen as our dj and he absolutely killed it. He listened to all of our ideas and odd tastes and made it flow seamlessly all night long. I didn't leave the dance floor once that evening. It was perfect.

cannot overstate how amazing Noah from Style Matters is! he DJ'd our April 12, 2014 wedding at the Ivy Room and was fantastic. we gave him a few specific requests, some general songs we like and a few 'please don't plays' and he came up with a set list that was better than anything we could have thought of. he added in a lot of songs that perfectly fit our taste and were crowd pleasers. we've been to a ton of weddings and can't remember any other where so many people were dancing so consistently throughout. we got great feedback from our guests before and after. absolutely amazing, super friendly and easy to work with (and Spencer at Style Matters was a great initial contact as well). so so so so happy that we got to work with Noah and would recommend him to anyone looking for a very fun and very cool party!!

Spencer was the DJ for our June 2013 wedding. He did an absolutely fantastic job. We were planning the wedding from out of town and were a bit worried about finding the right DJ. We didnt want anything cheesy and we wanted a night full of everyone dancing. Not an awkward night of "the chicken dance" and "brick house." Additionally, my husband and I have polar opposite tastes in music so pleasing both of us can be a challenge. I like Indy, Folk, Country and Oldies...my husband prefers Rap and Reggae...our friends prefer mostly pop music. Well Spencer did a great job and pleased everyone. Our friends and family are still raving about the music at our wedding. He was both classy and unique, and he always fit the mood well. He had people up and dancing the entire night. He also was just honestly a nice guy. Nothing but great things to say about Style matters.

Style Matters is incredible! Chris AKA DJ Mass Transit has incredible talent and insight.

Spencer was very accommodating and helpful during the process. We let him know we wanted a party with Motown and hip hop at the forefront, and he matched us with Chris. What a perfect fit.

We live out of town, so Chris facetimed with us to meet and learn about our vibe. He suggested lots of fresh music for our ceremony, cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc.

If you are looking for a refreshing, talented, cutting edge DJ that will not bring the usual cheesefest you see at weddings, go with Style Matters. We could not have been more happy.

I would highly recommend choosing Style Matters DJs for any event! After meeting with Spencer from Style Matters I knew that his DJ company was the perfect choice! He is friendly, very organized and we got a great vibe from him. There was no question that choosing Style Matters would mean our DJ would be cool and the opposite of cheesy. Spencer took time getting to know our music preferences and then chose Matt aka "Fancy Boy" to DJ our big day.

Matt was great. The crowd liked him, he made sure that everyone was having a good time and our dance floor was full for most of the night.

Style Matters rocks my world! We got married on September 1, 2013 in Chicago and Margot (aka DiskoKitty) knew exactly how to get the party started and how to keep it going all night.

We first met with Spencer and he is so thoughtful in the questions he asks to get to know you and your style. He expertly paired us with Margot, who re-defines wedding DJ. I'm not sure I'll ever enjoy a wedding again without her!

We threw her a few curve balls before and during the wedding and she handled them like a champ.

First, a couple days before the big day, I told her my dad and I were no longer going to dance our first dance, we were going to sing-along to "Werewolves of London". She was not even phased.

The morning of, it started to threaten rain for our outdoor wedding, so we had to make the last minute decision to have dinner in the cramped coach house. Margot was very conscientious about the volume of the music so that people could talk, but still set the mood. It didn't end up raining, but it did sprinkle around 9:30. Just enough to cool everyone off without really getting wet. I wouldn't be surprised if Margot planned that too.

Then, during the dancing, I realized I'd forgotten to add a very critical song to our must-play list. It is tradition for my family to dance/sing to the Beatles "Rocky Raccoon". So, when I asked Margot if she had it on her laptop, she said no. But she immediately got to work and downloaded it for us. It was epic!

One must-play I did specify was a good mix of Justin and NSync. And oh man! Margot got it exactly right, not too much, not too little. When she play Bye Bye Bye, nearly everyone got up and danced the whole thing.

At one point every single guest was on the dance floor. You can't ask for more from a DJ.

We could not have been happier with our experience with Style Matters. Dustin was our DJ and took a lot of time and consideration with us to make our day special. He sat down with us to discuss what type of music we liked/didnt like and the placement of where the DJ should go etc. He helped us plan through our courses to fit in toasts at the appropriate times. He really thought of everything.

When the day of the wedding came and we had a few things to switch around, Dustin rolled with the punches and it was no big deal to him. The dance floor was filled the whole time, which was really important to us because we love to dance. Everyone was saying what a great time they had and asked how we found them. I would recommend Dustin to anyone looking for a DJ, or looking into Style Matters, he is so professional and fun, great knowledge of all types of music. He knew exactly the type of style we were trying to execute and pulled it off flawlessly!

Style Matters is the best DJ company in the city of Chicago. My husband and I met on the dance floor at my brother’s wedding in 2010 when Ryan from Style Matters was the DJ. Three years later, Spencer, the amazing owner and coordinator paired us up with Ryan again and he did an incredible job at our wedding! Margot Margot Margot!

I think you are secretively both an artist and DJ! Your music, playlist selection, and bringing down the house was both a work of art and a masterpiece at my wedding.

I have to admit that I am a music snob and wanted to be extremely picky with the type of music played at my wedding. I spoke and Margot listened. And then she gave me a sample of her playlist. I nodded OK and then she rocked our wedding venue. 2 rooms of music and everyone danced until we closed it out at 1 AM.

I had a specific request for an hour of ethnic (Persian) music and it did not even phase Margot. She got it done! And a 30 minute booty house set to end the night? DONE! She met me whenever I needed to make sure our wedding would be the way I wanted and boosted my ego.

Her service exceeded my expectations and her skills provided effective with EVERYONE dance at our wedding. Style does matter. Extremely great and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Style Matters and Margot - keep rockin Chicago and I cannot wait to have you at my next event. Thank you on a job well done and making my wedding one of the most memorable EVER!

Style Matters DJs are amazing!

When my fiance and I started the search for a DJ, we knew we would be asking for a lot. We both care a lot about music, and wanted our tastes reflected (i.e. no "chicken dance"). On top of that, our wedding was a mix of two cultures--Indian and American. So, it was even more important to us to find a DJ that could find a balance between the two traditions. It was our worst fear to have too much of one genre or the other, thinking that half of our guests could feel alienated.

Enter Spencer from Style Matters! When we sat down with him for an initial consult, we knew right away we were dealing with the right people. Spencer has all the right ideas--he believes that music can make or break a wedding, and that one of the best ways to reflect who a couple is is to showcase the kinds of music they love. He also assured us he had a DJ who could perfectly hit the right ratio of Indian and American music seamlessly.

Justin Dawson (DJ Itch13 aka Itchie Fingers) was our wedding DJ, and he was AMAZING!! He met with me the week of the wedding to go over our likes and dislikes music-wise (what must be played, and what absolutely should not be played), and we had a good time thinking of great, and not so great, music to play and different times during the reception. I gave him a list of Indian/Bollywood "hits" we had collected, and he said he would do more research and would be sure to have the Indian tracks we listed for him.

Come the night of the wedding, everything was incredible. Justin's mix during dinner was filled with songs and artists we love, and he also threw in songs we didn't know but loved anyway! The mood was perfect. Once it was time to start dancing, he kept the crowd on the floor all night. He knew exactly how much Indian music to play, and he read the crowd remarkably. (I mean, he played everything from AR Rahman to Hall and Oates!). To top it all off, Justin was just plain nice, and very professional. A++++!

We had John Simmons from Style Matters DJ at our wedding on June 23rd of this year. I cannot tell you how amazing the whole process was. The initial meeting with Spencer (the owner) was great.. he asked us a few questions about our likes/dislikes and got a great feel for which DJ he should pair us with. When we met John we knew he would do an am amazing job but we had no idea he would blow us away! We gave him a pretty comprehensive list of our must-plays, do not plays, and some general bands/songs we liked... and John did such a good job putting together the perfect playlist with his own little spin on it (literally, he spins, which is effing awesome). At one point during the night I threw a wrench in his plans by asking him to play a special song for the father daughter dance (which I actually told him before hand that we weren't going to do a father-daughter dance)... but at the last minute I pulled him aside and he worked his magic to get the song we wanted and it all went smoothly. My dad was one happy crying man.

Our guests are still talking about how great the music selection was and how "wow... you had like a REAL DJ there, he was spinning and everything!" Absolutely! Thank you Style Matters and John!!

OH and book these guys soon... they are in such high demand that they book up fast! you will be so happy you booked the best DJs in the WORLD!!

We learned about Style Matters through word of mouth. After checking out their website, and realizing that the amazing OL was responsible for starting up this company, my fiancé and I KNEW we had found our DJ! Spencer was great to work with and was very responsive to our requests leading up to our special day!

A few weeks before our wedding date, we were told that our main man would be DJ Duke. We were totally thrilled!!

Over a beer, Duke, Arthur and I talked through our day. Duke asked all the right questions and we knew we would not have to worry about a thing!

Our wedding was this past Saturday (6.30.2012). It was AMAZING. Cocktail hour and dinner music were sick! My dad and brother surprised me with a guitar/singing duo and Duke made sure they had everything they needed.

Once the dancing began, there was not a time when the dance floor was empty. Duke did a great job of combining the music our parents and their friends loved as well as slowly turning our reception into a party! Our guests were thrilled that he was receptive to some of their music requests as well. He mixed a bunch of stuff live with his turntables. So bomb!

All of our "music snob" friends ;) as well as my groom and I totally got down.

What a BLAST!!! Thank you Duke, Spencer and all the S.M. team for making our wedding a rager!!

We had a great time with Style Matters. From the very beginning, they were super easy to work with. Spencer was easy to get ahold of via email (my communcation method of choice). We didnt meet our final DJ, Margot, until the end, but she came to our house and got to know us and our musical tastes. She was able to appease my husband with the dinner music and then me with the dancing music. Our guests were diverse in pretty much every way, but Margot was able to appeal to them. She was also fine with us changing a lot of things at the last minute. We highly recommend Style Matters!

Awesome. Just awesome.

Booking a wedding (for 6-16-12) in Chicago when you live in Boston isn't the easiest thing to do. I only had to do a few things (Allie took care of the rest), and one of my responsibilities was the music. I went to Yelp first to check out some of the reviews, and Style Matters was one of the few that sounded good to me. After speaking with a few other companies, I had a phone call with Spencer. I didn't need to speak with any more DJs afterwards. I was hooked immediately. I felt comfortable that I would be able to work with Spencer and Style Matters from half was across the country.

I had told Spencer that I was sort of a music snob. I didn't listen to the radio a whole lot, and was really into older hip-hop, ska, reggae, punk, etc. Not a problem - they could make it all work. On my next trip to Chicago I met with Spencer in-person. The meeting couldn't have gone better, and I knew we were in good hands.

A few months prior to the wedding Spencer assigned us Dustin to be our DJ based on musical tastes. Perfect match. Dustin and I emailed quite a bit back and forth about specifics, and his communication was always timely. A few nights prior to the actual wedding when I was in Chicago Dustin came to our hotel to finalize the playlist, order of events, etc. He was so knowledgeable and really knew his stuff!

I couldn't have asked more when it came to the music at the wedding. Our cocktail hour was a hit - Dustin worked in a lot of early ska and punk songs, and even a little chill hip-hop. Some of my guests pulled me aside and said that they have never heard music this good just in the cocktail hour! I think one of them even spoke to him about getting it copied on to a USB! Dustin kept the music going during dinner with a lot of the songs that Allie wanted to hear. In fact, he played every one of them.

The dance party was then off the hook for the rest of the night! The floor was packed from the start of the party right until the last song. He mixed/blended in songs very well, and transitioned easily from one genre into another. Lots of 90s hip-hop, popular dance songs, 80s rock, and some other crazy jams. And of course our Do Not Playlist was honored, and nothing odd/cheezy/not fitting was played.

If I ever had another event in Chicago, I would use Spencer/Dustin in a second.

DJ MAX of StyleMatters was awesome! Plain and simple. I completely recommend without any hesitation StyleMatters and DJ MAX for any event and specifically weddings. Everyone at the wedding was on the dance floor the 'whole' time. Literally. We were blown away how well MAX read the crowd, mixed and transitioned songs and kept the party going and the people dancing til the end. It all started with Spencer, the main guru contact guy for StyleMatters. He was professional, easy to get a hold of, and a really easy and laid back guy. We contacted him via email, he responded right away, set up a meeting at his office and met him in person. The meeting was super friendly and comfortable. StyleMatters has a group of DJs and Spencer takes our preferences, type of music we listened to, etc and matches us to the best DJ for us. Spencer set us up with MAX. And that was a fantastic choice as he totally rocked the place. We met MAX a week before and just like Spencer, super easy to talk to, went over the plans and specifics. He completely 'got it' and understood what we wanted. I knew we had a great DJ when friends and family started to tell us and that the DJ was awesome while they were on the floor dancing, and more importantly for 3 weeks after the wedding they kept telling us how great he was!!! All we wanted was a fun, upbeat party where people danced and the floor was full for the whole wedding, and that is exactly what we got. Some friends and family have even said that was the most fun wedding they've been to. Overall, we are so happy with MAX and what he created for us. He made a CD of the music he mixed of the dance portion and listening to is great fun to remember the night and actually hear the great mixing job he does as a DJ. If you want a great party where people enjoy music and the dance floor is full, get MAX and StyleMatters. If you want someone to mix and read the crowd rather than play an iPod playlist, get MAX and StyleMatters. You will not be disappointed. If I have to throw another party/corporate/work event that requires a DJ, I know who I'm calling. Thanks MAX and Spencer for a great wedding party!!

I was looking for a DJ company to use for my wedding, and after the performance I saw at my sisters wedding, I knew her DJ company, Style Matters was who I had to go with.

Spencer, the owner, is one of the nicest people you'll ever work with. He genuinely loves what he does, and cares about your big day. He was very accommodating and also very responsive and answered all my questions. Really refreshing to work with a vendor who didn't create any stress and really worked hard to make our day perfect.

His line up of DJ's is amazing, and we had to have "Major Taylor", aka Ralph Darden who was SPECTACULAR!!! He rocked both mine and my sisters weddings - we both received so many compliments on how great he was - some even said he was the best DJ they ever saw at a wedding. His energy and passion really hyped up the crowd, and his custom mixes and techniques are awesome. He truly has talent not only for his DJ skills, but also for the way he works with people. He met with us in advance to go over our thoughts, ideas, and vision for the wedding. He did a great job of incorporating our "must plays" as well as throwing some of his own recos in - he read the crowd perfectly and kept the dance floor packed all night.

Definitely will always recommend Style Matters to anyone looking for DJ for their event.

We are still talking about how amazing Spencer was for our wedding. We had a VERY mixed crowd of people, Pesians, Swedes, and Americans, as well as a wide range of ages. He nailed it. noah = truly one of the best vendors we had for our wedding.

we met with spencer about a year and a half before our wedding (ridiculous, i know)... and immediately knew that we wanted to work with style matters.

as the wedding date approached, spencer paired us up with noah... who is AWESOME. my husband and i aren't what you would call "music people." when noah asked what kind of music we liked, i said britney and gaga... my husband said 80s pop. at the wedding, noah played exactly what we wanted... and other stuff we didn't know we wanted. he kept everyone on the dance floor all night... and i mean everyone... including my husband's 85 year old grandmother.

i don't think i've danced that much or for that long in my entire life... the music he played truly made our wedding so much fun... we couldn't have asked for a better dj!

one of my favorite things about noah: his official dj name is weaponry -- your wedding cannot be any cooler than having a dj named weaponry.

Style Matters - Spencer and Crew - are nothing short of amazing! Max was our DJ of choice for our 11-11-11 wedding, and he nailed down our vision of our ceremony to the T, making the party unforgettable. From our first meeting with Spencer I knew we made the right choice. We met with Max once in person and communicated multiple times by email and phone, bouncing ideas off each other. Max really listened to our suggestions when it came to our musical tastes and types of songs we wanted played. I was afraid no one would be dancing, but was pleasantly surprised to see a crowded dance floor all night, and I don't think we left once. Everyone complimented Max on the flow of the evening and the eclectic selection of music. Everything was done tastefully, nothing cheesy or predictable which was very important to us. I'm listening back to the recording of the event as I write this, and can't believe how well done everything was. It's hard to remember in the moment, and the full recording they offer is a great memento and worth the extra cost. I'd recommend Style Matters in a heartbeat and have faith in not only Spencer and Max, but the entire crew!

Max is AMAZING!!!! I cannot say enough about how awesome he made our night! Our wedding was better than we could have ever imagined thanks to Max. The dance floor was packed all night! Our guests of all ages had a great time and the dance floor was PACKED until the music stopped. Max was the topic of many conversations the next day, everyone was singing his praises!

From the very beginning we were impressed with Style Matters. We signed a contract immediately after our initial meeting with Spencer. Style Matters was exactly what we had in mind for our wedding. The pre-planning was so easy. We had several email conversations with both Spencer and Max. I am so late to getting to this - but couldn't live with myself if I didn't give Style Matters DJ a rave review! We used this vendor for our June 17th wedding, and it was one of the best decisions we made. Spencer was our DJ, and from the start he was super attentive and very personal about making sure we had the kind of party WE wanted. We also had to coordinate our Chicago 'burbs wedding from NYC where we live, and it could have been tough, but Spencer made it so easy. He always got back to us in record time and made us feel comfortable, relaxed and totally sure that we'd have the best party ever. And we absolutely did!

We hired Style Matters to DJ our wedding in August and they were amazing. My husband met with Spencer initially and knew we were in good hands. Spencer is very professional and responsive to emails. He assigned us Ryan as our DJ for the wedding and when we met with Ryan he took one look at our list of songs we liked and told us he could DJ our wedding tomorrow. We basically told him we wanted everyone on the dance floor the whole night and he definitely delivered. All night Ryan chose songs that everyone liked and couldn't resist dancing to. These guys are the best, I would recommend them to anyone.

Justin was great. We met with Justin a mere 3 days before our wedding, but had communicated through email prior to that. I have to admit that I was a little nervous, only because we had hired a DJ and met with him so late in the game. He was awesome! He was the first vendor at the wedding! He even got there before we did! He did a fantastic job with all the music, dinner, post-ceremony, dancing, etc. Seriously. Our crowd is not a dancing crowd, but by the end of the night, we were all awkwardly trying to bust a move...and since he'd been waiting for it all night, he obliged by playing past our agreed upon last song. He was professional and created an awesome evening of music with minimal direction. He stuck with what we wanted, but was also attentive to what the guests wanted. Highly recommend Style Matters and Justin in particular. I wish he could come to my house every weekend and DJ parties. Guess I'll have to go visit him at his non-wedding gigs.

We loved working with Spencer! He made selecting our wedding music so simple - he asked for some general input and ideas and took it from there. He did an amazing job juggling and scheduling all the family and friends' toasts (as well as providing a microphone and soundtracks for the toasts, by request) and choosing music to keep our guests dancing and entertained. He was instantaneously responsive and planned phone meetings as needed to fit our hectic, long-distance wedding planning schedule. We loved his music selections, his organization, professionalism, and friendly demeanor throughout the process. His prices are very reasonable and we would enthusiastically recommend him to friends planning Chicago weddings.

Style Matters was wonderful. From the first personal meeting with Spencer in his home to the end of the party that Spencer ROCKED out at, we were very impressed. He read the crowd perfectly and really made our reception amazing through music. I could tell you a really long review but basically, if you want a non-cheesy, professional, awesome, knowledgable and passionate dj at your wedding, hire Spencer and Style Matters. You and your guests will have a really, really good time.

We had Ryan as our DJ and he did a fantastic job to keep our guests on the dance floor. The biggest compliment we got from our guests was that they couldn't stay off the dance floor because the music was so good. Ryan played the songs we asked him to and included other songs we didn't even think of, which was a pleasant surprise. The professionalism of Style Matters is unmatched.

Spencer is awesome!!

We used them for our wedding, and they were excellent. EVERYONE complimented us on the DJ, and he had EVERYONE on the dance floor, from my 16 year old sister to my grandmother.

In addition to being a fantastic DJ, Style Matters has a (cleverly named) chamber music option "String Theory" which we used for the cocktail hour.

They delivered all the songs I requested, had the exact version of "Some Enchanted Evening" from South Pacific for the first dance I wanted, and kept everyone dancing until they couldn't walk.

On top of that, their prices were VERY reasonable. Great for people on a budget. Professional, reliable, on time... I really cannot compliment them enough.

All I have to say is my guests were devastated when Spencer came on and announced the last dance. They were all having so much fun they didn't want the night to end! Spencer offered to stay later and keep playing but encouraged us to end the night on a high note- keep in mind it was almost 2am by the time we wrapped up our dancing. Everyone to this day our guests still talk about how much fun they had dancing the night away- some of these people said they hadn't danced in 15 years! My Grandpa was even tearing up the dance floor. Spencer did an awesome job playing a mix that everyone could enjoy. One of my favorite things is he actually mixes the songs like at a club- most djs don't do this we learned. He was great with the kids in our wedding party as well. They have some really great memories of spinning at the wedding and we got some cute pics. He is amazing and I am always recommending him to all my friends for their upcoming wedding so I can get my dance on again.

One of the best decisions we made for our wedding was to hire Style Matters. Style Matters will really listen to you and get to know your musical preferences and if you appreciate music slightly more than the average person, this is the DJ service for you. Style Matters is cool and unique: they are music aficionados. In particular, our DJ Margot went above and beyond our expectations. Margot is a lot of things: laid-back, organized, friendly, accommodating, but above all, she played the type of music our guests wanted to hear. The dance floor was packed during the entire reception and if we could have danced longer, we would have! We heard nothing but compliments from our guests and a great time was had by all. If you are the type of person who thinks that music plays a huge and important role in setting the stage for an event, then I would say that Style Matters is your best DJ option!

Best DJ choice in Chicago! And if you get the chance to have Spencer DJ your wedding, an extra bonus (although Im sure all of the DJs are fantastic). Our guests raved about the awesome song selection (as did we), and not once during the night was the dance floor empty. Spencer took what we liked in music and created a night that was definitely tailored to our style. Style Matters is one of the best choices we made for our wedding day. Wish we had another reason for them to DJ!

We LOVED Dustin! He did such a good job with the music, and was able to play even our eclectic "Must Play" list. Everyone was dancing the whole night, and we could not have been happier. At one point, my husbands younger cousins took over the dance floor and everyone was just watching them, and he recognized them on the mic, and got everyone dancing again to the next song. We know the guests loved his style since at the end of the night, they shouted "One more song" until he played another song, and then they shouted "Two more songs" over and over again. We cannot thank him enough for keeping our dance floor packed!

Style Matters is an awesome DJ company. Spencer was great throughout the planning process and Dustin our DJ was fantastic, fun, and professional. He was perfect for our wedding and played all the songs we requested and none of the songs on our "do not play list". The music throughout the cocktail hour, dinner, and reception was modern, sophisticated and fun - definitely not cheesy. We went to see the DJs perform in a bar prior to our wedding and all of DJs played great music that the crowd loved. We would not hesitate to hire Style Matters again.

Can't say enough great things about Spencer and our DJ, Margot! From the first day we met with him, Spencer was incredibly cool while still being very professional, and we were so impressed by his enthusiasm! You can tell he truly loves his job. :0) We chose Margot after they did an open-house type of thing so new clients could check out all the DJs, and we're so glad we did! She was an absolute joy to work with throughout the planning process, and she made the whole reception run smoothly and without a hitch. She kept everybody on the dance floor all night long with her awesome mixes, and by the end of the evening, nobody wanted to leave! Overall...GREAT people to work with and couldn't recommend Style Matters more!

I would highly recommend Style Matters to anyone who wants the dance floor packed all night!

We had been having a lot of issues with our previous DJ-so when we started researching for a new one, communication was a top priority.

Spencer, the owner and our main contact, was promp and professional in all communication. At our first meeting (the only time we had to go to them to meet), we told Spencer all of our "wants and needs" for the wedding. I knew right away that these were the DJs for us! Our biggest concern was keeping our dance floor full the whole night. Spencer was quick to reassure this was their top goal, too.

Spencer paired us with Ryan (and Tom assisted him). All three of them are extremely knowledgeable on all sorts of genre of music.

Ryan certainly upheld Spencer's promise to keep the dance floor full! He and Tom were both extremely professional and well dressed. We got a lot of compliments that our wedding had the "best wedding music ever".

Ryan was also very accommodating to my requests but also balanced my requests with keeping the atmosphere appropriate for a wedding and all the age groups in attendance.

Spencer is a really great guy. He deejayed our wedding at the Narnia estate. He did a great job. The interviews about our styles of music were great because he is a laid-back nice guy. We knew the minute we walked out of the first meeting that he was the one. One slight hiccup at the wedding was that he started the Bouquet Dance before I knew he was going to or was ready so I didn’t have the toss bouquet or garter and had to frantically run around trying to get some one to get them from another part of the building and get the groom’s parents on the dance floor. Plus, everyone then went and sat down instead of having an incentive to come up and dance later on. However, Spencer is a really great deejay who plays great music and is just wonderful to work with, so I would definitely hire him again!

Duke with Style Matters was the DJ for our wedding on Dec 12 at the Newberry Library. This company prides itself on no cheese. No cheesy songs, no crazy lights. Duke just played great music and everyone danced all night long. He was not an obnoxious on-the-mic-all night DJ. He was very chill. My biggest concern going into the wedding was that I wanted all of the guests to have a blast. I don�t even know why I worried. Duke had it under control. The dance floor was PACKED all night long. I would definitely recommend using Style Matters for your DJ.

Style Matters was phenomenal! We were on quite a tight budget but the DJ was an area I didn't want to skimp on too much, and Style Matters fit our budget without too much trouble and provided the best night of music!

We had them do the music at our ceremony as well as the reception music. We met with Spencer who was already booked the evening of our wedding, which was fine because we got Nate who is the most adorable and talented guy! My husband and I met with both of them a week before the wedding to go over the details, get the bridal party names correct, and talk about music in general.

We did not provide a must play or do not play list, we really felt comfortable with their abilities to read the crowd and know most of us are beyond the cheezy music, unless you love that stuff! Our only directions were during the guest seating at the ceremony, play instrumentals from Vitamin String Quartet, and we had specific versions of the bridal party and bride procession and recession. I know it is difficult to play at an outdoor venue but think they did a great job.

At the reception Nate was wonderful at announcing things when needed and played awesome music all night long. Our only regret is that we were so busy saying hello and goodby to our guests we did not get much of a chance to dance and enjoy the music ourselves.

To talk more to Nate's talents is that one of our guests is a DJ for weddings and such himself and he even said he was great. As well as some of the waitstaff from the Zoo who are subjected to a lot of different weddings, they all told me how wonderful he was as well.

Extremely professional, warm, polite and unbelievably talented!
