Best Wedding Photographer Ever

Choosing Steven Dray was one of the best wedding planning decisions we made. So easy to work with from start to finish - responsive, understood our vibe, got to know us during our engagement shoot (as well as our dog!), and was super flexible and easy going on the day of. We simply had so much fun. As these photos had to capture the emotions of the wedding day and are what we have to remember it by, we knew we had to hire the right guy, and boy did Dray deliver. He got all of the photos I knew I wanted plus tons more, inspired cool shots and helped us pose, brought out personality in the wedding party photos, you name it. The hype is real...

RUN DON’T WALK. It simply does not get any better than Steven Dray photography. As an out of state bride who is not from Pittsburgh, I spent an ungodly amount of time researching photographers, and across the board, the feedback I received was consistent – Steven Dray and his team are the ones to work with – and let me tell you, they sure lived up to the hype!!!!

As a bride and groom (esp. the groom, ha) who aren’t the most comfortable being photographed - Steven did an incredible job making us feel at ease from the moment we reached out to him. Steven and Jaime (his wife/right hand, former wedding coordinator herself!!) were extremely genuine and helpful. Every interaction felt sincere, and you could tell that Dray really cares for his clients. From our intro call to the big day (…and even after!!) the Dray team went above and beyond to make the entire process so enjoyable and seamless. Dray and his team were great communicators and provided suggestions and advice when I found myself in a few different wedding debacles; working with the Dray Team, you will hear from them consistently, and they are an incredible resource for all things wedding, not just photography. Which – I was not aware of when we booked with him but is such an amazing touch and deserves to be highlighted!!

In addition to being the warmest and sincere team out there, Dray and his team were truly phenomenal on our big day!! Genuinely, I believe every angle, moment, funny interaction, etc.. was captured by him and his team, and the results are absolutely amazing. The Dray Team has an incredible way of capturing genuine moments that bring you right back in time, while also capturing beautifully orchestrated moments as well. His creativity and versatility are insane, and the outcomes speak for themselves.

As the bride, me and my bridal party had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Dray, and everyone was RAVING about him. His laid-back, easy-going demeanor is so nice to have around, and he does a great job of just letting you be as you are on your big day, while also making you comfortable with being out of your comfort zone at times (again – not the fondest of being in front a camera!!). We all really enjoyed having Dray around and are so thankful he was able to capture such precious moments while we got ready!

My husband also really enjoyed working with Dray and his team. As a guy who really despises being in front of a camera, Dray and his team did an incredible job of making him comfortable and at ease. Again, Dray’s easy-going demeanor, intuitiveness, and approach really made such a difference, and we have incredible photos to prove it!

We are so grateful for the Dray Team and urge everyone to work with them!!!

We cannot recommend Dray highly enough! Not only is his work is beyond stunning, but he was such a joy to work with. Everything from our first call with him up through the wedding day was fun and seamless. His professionalism makes him so easy to work with leading up to the wedding and we entered our wedding weekend without any stress knowing we were in such capable hands. On the day, Dray is exactly who you want with you. His calming presence is a breath of fresh air, but he also makes the process really fun. He has the perfect balance of capturing organically special moments, while also helping pose you and your group for the perfect picture moments. We had the best day with Dray and the photos from our preview are already so gorgeous. We truly cannot recommend him enough, if you are looking for a fun, professional, and beyond talented photographer, Dray is your guy!!

Absolute Perfection

Let’s start with the obvious: Dray’s work is BEYOND incredible. His photos captured not just the details of the day, but the emotions we felt. We were absolutely blown away when we received our full galleries for our engagement photos and our wedding photos. We loved all of them so much that it was hard to choose which ones to print out and frame. And everyone we showed them to, from our families to guests, were so impressed. Your photos will be works of art.

But more importantly than that, Dray, his wife Jaime, and his brother, Aaron, are so easy to work with and approach their work with obvious dedication and professionalism. We felt like we could fully enjoy the day and leave the hard work to the pros. Not only did Dray capture every shot we asked for, he captured details that I didn’t even think of asking for but would absolutely have if I had thought of it. One of my bridesmaids noted that he was the first photographer she met who actually gave posing advice (and she's been a bridesmaid in 5 other weddings), and it definitely makes a huge difference in the photos. He and Aaron were so prepared on the big day, knew all the best photo spots, and kept us on time for our schedule so we didn’t have to think of anything.

I could go on and on, but the biggest compliment I can give is that I didn’t stress about anything related to photography or timing thanks to Dray (and I am an over-thinker by nature). Bottom line: Choose Dray if you want flawless photos and a calming presence that will take away stress from your big day. You’ll be so happy you did!

Cannot recommend Dray enough, he absolutely DELIVERED for our wedding. He made the process so easy and comfortable every step of the way. Wedding photos are one of the only things you take away from your special day, so we wanted to make sure we invested in a photographer who is professional and knows how to capture every special moment and detail flawlessly. I have more great things to say about Dray but my characters allowed are capped.

Dray was on top of things before the wedding and made sure to communicate what was most important for our wedding day. On the day of the wedding he showed up and was ready to go! None of the photos ever felt forced and apart from the necessary family portraits, he let Tyler and I guide the day while offering his expertise for locations and lighting. Looking at the photos I have already received I feel beautiful and confident, something that is sometimes hard for brides who have spent an entire engagement trying to improve appearances in one way or another. The photos I received captured the happiness I felt on the day of my wedding. Thank you Dray!

Best Vendor Choice!

Don’t walk, RUN to hire Steven Dray as your wedding photographer! I am absolutely blown away by the magic created with his photography. We had both our engagement and wedding photos done with Dray. He instantly made us feel SO comfortable, I really couldn’t believe it. My husband especially doesn’t love getting his picture taken, and I was so impressed with the ease we felt during our engagement session and subsequently our wedding day. Steven photographed our surprise intimate wedding, from our first phone call with him we were sold! The absolute best!

Dray is not only a wonderful photographer, but also a wonderful person. In addition to capturing our wedding day with Aaron (who is also wonderful!), he also travelled all the way to NYC to capture our engagement shoot in Central Park. He is a true artist. He has a great eye and did an amazing job capturing the relationship of my husband and I in our photos. He is also very easy to work with and is very responsive. We look forward to having him take our photos and buying some of his other artwork in the future!

Passion, Timeless Artistry and Incredible Experience

Could not recommend Dray enough! His ability to capture special moments with such emotion and beauty is unmatched. We did our engagement photos with Dray and he photographed our Fall 2023 wedding. Every single interaction felt like talking to a friend. Dray (and his wonderful wife Jaime) were so kind and took great care in getting to know my husband and I, as well as what our needs were for both occasions. They were always open to answer any questions we had and I knew with their vast knowledge and experience in photographing weddings the guidance we got was solid. You need to book Steven Dray Photography!

Dray is a true artist, a kind soul, and his photography speaks for itself. He is so passionate about his work and it shows with how he handles his business from initial consultation to delivering the final photos. Dray will treat you like an old friend and hype you up all day. I have never felt more comfortable in front of a camera before. I had a small set back on my wedding day after forgetting my veil at the hotel. Dray was able to keep me calm and adjust our timeline on the fly to ensure that we still got every shot that we wanted. Excellent experience

Steven was absolutely wonderful to work with. Prior to the wedding, his communication and help in planning was top notch. We knew we would be in good hands, but that day both Steven and Aaron were everything we could have asked for. For the "getting ready" photographs, they were so natural and didn't invade our space at all, yet still managed to get the most wonderful pictures. We had a last minute change of plans and decided not to do outside pictures (I was already sweating and it had started raining) and he 100% respected that decision and found some other amazing places to do the photographs around the hotel. He is a very skilled photographer with a keen eye, and also a lovely person who I truly enjoyed working with.

Phenomenal Photographer!!!

Dray is awesome!! I actually reached out to Dray prior to booking our date just to ensure that he was available! Not only is his work beautiful but he is great to work is as well! He was helpful and extremely responsive during the planning process and answered all of our questions. It ended up raining on our wedding day, which came out of no where. I was unprepared and nervous about it but as soon as Dray talked to us I was calm. He even pulled umbrellas out of his car for us and our whole wedding party! 100% recommend Dray - you will no regret it!!! We absolutely love our preview pictures and can’t wait to see all of them!

Dray is the absolute best!

I cannot say enough about Steven Dray and how lucky and grateful we were to work with him for our July 9, 2022 wedding. Dray shot my sister’s wedding 3 years ago. From the moment we met him, he made the day so comfortable and fun for all of us and the wedding photos were absolutely stunning. I knew then that I had to book him if I got married. When my fiancé proposed, we immediately reached out to Dray. We picked our wedding date in part based on his availability (yes, he is THAT good!). From the time that we booked Dray until our wedding day, he and his wife Jaime were so great about checking in with us, making sure we had everything we needed, and just being so awesome and supportive. Dray shot our engagement photos and made the session so easy and fun. The vision that Dray has for locations, poses, lighting and all of the other elements of the photo are truly his gift. We were blown away by the photos and our family and friends were raving about them (and still are!). Dray shot our wedding last month and again, we all had the BEST time with him. The way that Dray captures the most special moments and details, while making the entire process so comfortable and fun for everyone, is what makes him and his work so amazing. When Dray’s coverage was over at the end of the night, we didn’t want him to leave - not because we wanted him to take more photos, but because he is genuinely a joy to be around! Dray sent us a preview of some of the photos shortly after the wedding and we were so happy. They were all stunning. We cannot wait to see the full gallery! Our entire family loves Dray. Simply put…incredible!

Dray is BEYOND fantastic!! The whole experience from the intake meeting, to booking our wedding date, the nitty gritty/planning in between to the day of the wedding was such a pleasure working with Dray and his wife! Dray is passionate about capturing every part of our special day from getting ready to the last dance in the rain! He was there to capture everything. Even our guests commented about how awesome Dray was. When the guests ranted and raved about our cookie table, Dray was mentioned in the next compliments from the guests. Everyone said how “cool, fantastic, incredible” he was and my husband and I couldn’t agree more!

Incredible

The only word to describe Steven Dray is AMAZING! If I could rate him 10 stars I would! Steven was my sister's wedding photographer in 2018 and I knew that I wanted him as a photographer at my wedding once my time came around. He was one of the first vendors I contacted when I got engaged because I HAD to have him capture this special day!

Steven is an incredible, creative, and passionate photographer. He has a true talent. He knows how to get the perfect lighting and angle to make anything look good!!! While we were getting ready, the bridal suite was a mess and the bridesmaids were running around trying to get ready. During this time, he managed to capture amazing photos in this room with so much chaos. All he needed was a subject and a window!

Also, he makes it a priority to build rapport and establish a comfortable relationship. He truly listens to aspects of your wedding you want him to capture and makes it all come true in a natural way. It so nice to work with a photographer that you not only appreciate their art, but you appreciate and respect them as a person. I will definitely be using Steven Dray Photography again in the future to capture special life moments.

My wife and I shot with Steven on several occasions, including our engagement shoot and two wedding photo shoots. I am not one who is used to being photographed professionally and he made it SO very easy for me and my wife each time that I ended up having a lot of fun on each of the shoots! Most importantly, our photos have consistently turned out FANTASTIC which I 100% attribute to his raw talent and eye for what makes a quality photo. THE photographer to hire!

Dray is an amazing photographer, let alone an amazing human being! As a COVID bride, he was very understanding about us rescheduling, checked in on us to make sure we were doing okay and if he could help out, and made sure everything was exactly what we wanted when we finally got to have our day. My husband and I have a large family and he was so patient taking all the pictures we asked for. The bridal party felt so comfortable, especially with Dray's tips about how to pose. Most of us were not especially good in front of a camera, but Dray made us feel like rockstars! During the reception, Dray was here, there and everywhere! I don't know how he does it. The photos we've received so far are stunning, I've never looked or felt more beautiful. I couldn't imagine a better way to preserve our memories. Do yourself a favor and hire Dray, you will not be disappointed :)

Phenomenal photographer and human being

When looking for a wedding photographer, or photographer of any kind, don’t look further than Steven Dray. From the second I had my first phone call with him, I knew I loved him. What would have been six months before our wedding, my fiancé and I got together with him for an engagement shoot in downtown Beaver. It was amazing how comfortable he made us feel and seriously felt like a friend. He picked the coolest spots and made old and run down look glamorous. Through three date changes and a last minute venue change, Steven stuck with us. On the wedding day he came in and took charge, but all while still being kind and making everyone in the wedding feel like a million bucks. My thirteen year old nephew is about to start photography school and Steven let him practice with a few shots even though he had a very strict schedule to adhere to. As beautiful as a person as his subjects he captures, I would love the opportunity to work with Steven again, or at least grab a beer with him. Amazing!

From the get-go Dray has been an outstanding vendor to work with, not only as a photographer behind the camera, but also in preparation for our wedding day. He always took the extra steps to make certain that our big day run smoothly, went above and beyond to seek out locations to shoot at our venue (after a pandemic venue change), touched base with us throughout the planning process to make sure things were going well or if there was any way he could additionally help, and gathered the important details from us to make sure he was able to capture our day just as we envisioned it. His professionalism and creativity were perfectly balance with a side of fun and positivity! Dray and his brother Aaron were truly a pleasure to work with and needless to say we were SPEECHLESS when our wedding album arrived. He is beyond talented and we cannot put into words how grateful we are to have worked with them. Our photos will forever be the perfect keepsake to reminisce back on our wedding day! Dray is the best!

Cannot recommend Steven Dray Photography enough!! We booked Dray for our engagement and wedding photos. We initially reached out to Dray on a whim to see if he was available for our wedding. He was our dream photographer, and we were not expecting him to be available on our day as we had a relatively short engagement. We were thrilled that we were able to have him as our photographer! Our engagement photos turned out so great-he made us feel so comfortable and we are so grateful that he was on board for us to have our pups there for some pictures. Dray was so helpful throughout the entire planning process—especially once COVID hit. Dray always replied quickly to our emails and was flexible when we were considering postponing. He was so kind and understanding through the difficult and stressful time of planning around the constantly changing COVID restrictions. Dray and his brother, who was his second shooter, were both there on our wedding day and captured so many great pictures of the day! We are so happy with how our wedding pictures turned out! Incredible to Work With and Beautiful Photos

We booked Steven Dray to photograph our wedding, and we could not have possibly made a better choice!

Having a wedding in 2020 has been a roller coaster experience. We originally were scheduled to have a May 30th wedding with about 230 guests, but clearly COVID had different plans. Back in March, when everything started closing, the very first person we heard from about our wedding was Steven. He emailed us just to put us at ease, saying regardless of who could attend or where it would be, he would be there to photograph our wedding and do everything he could to make sure it was special. It went a long way at helping us relax and remember that no matter what happened, we would still find a way to get married and share an incredible day together.

We ended up getting married with just our immediate families present, with plans to have a celebration in August with all of our guests. Every step of the way, Steven was so flexible with our ever-changing plans. He offered to split our time between the days so we could have all the coverage we wanted when we wanted it. And just like he promised, the day was perfect!! Our portrait session with Steven after our ceremony was one of the highlights of the day, he is so fun and genuine and working with him was an absolute blast!

We received our complete photo gallery back from Steven faster than we ever could have expected, and they are PERFECT!! We are amazed at his eye for light and background and how beautifully he captured every part of our day! We couldn't be happier with how our photos turned out, and we have received endless compliments for how great they are!

We absolutely would recommend Steven Dray to everyone getting married! You will have an incredible experience working with him, and your pictures will be a beautiful keepsake to remember your special day. Thank you for everything Steven!

Creativity with Flare!

Steve was absolutely amazing to work with when we did our engagement photos last February. He has such an eye for different shots to capture, and really scouts out the surroundings. I loved the colors that he brought out in his editing, even with it being a dreary winter afternoon. He also made us super comfortable as the photoshoot went on, which allowed him to capture some great emotion. I loved how he would spontaneously stop us to take a picture or to capture a moment. We love our photos and will treasure them forever! If you are looking for a photographer with a great artistic eye you need to hire Steve.

Our Wedding

From the first moment we booked Steven Dray for our wedding, he made us feel like a part of his family. He was with us every step of the way, whether it was through a text, a call, or a family Christmas card. He was always looking for our input and ideas to make sure he captured us and our relationship exactly how we are. As if his genuine personality isn’t already enough to make him amazing, his images are unbelievable. I could not believe how happy and comfortable we looked in every single picture. The easiest decision we made in the whole process! We met with Dray ahead of time, he wowed both me and my parents with his talent, skill, ability to handle large wedding parties and awesome personality (you can tell he loves love!). On the day of Dray (and his brother/2nd shooter) were very patient with us and able to handle our large party, the photos we have seen so far are SO GOOD and I can't wait to see the whole day! My best vendor

Steven is 100% the absolute best vendor that we chose for our wedding!! We love him dearly and he is so wonderful at what he does. We were especially impressed with his timeliness, professionalism, and the ability to make us feel so comfortable during hectic times. I feel like hes a great friend and I've known him for years. You need Steven as your wedding photographer!

Steven's photography is wonderful. Anyone can see that by looking at his portfolio. He is very talented and creates moving images that will transcend time. What you can't see, is how personable, professional, and hard working he is. We first met Steven during our engagement session. Right away he greeted my fiancé and I with a big hug. He gave such good direction and was so easy going, that he made us feel at ease. This demeanor continued when he came to my home the day of my wedding to photograph some keepsakes, such as my invitations, our rings, etc, and my bridesmaids. He was prompt, and got right to work, while his partner was at the venue photographing the guys. He takes great pride in his work and takes the time to set up your photos, including lining up your family and bridal party. I had so many comments from our guests and family who had recently had their own wedding, or been to a wedding, saying how great of a job he was doing, how he takes his time to make sure the photos are great, how "on point" he was, always there, yet you barely knew it. He got all the shots and he wasn't in the way. During our pre-wedding phone call he told me he would come and grab my husband and I for a few outdoor photos if the sunset was really pretty. He did exactly that. It took all of 10 minutes and produced the most stunning photos. It was my favorite part of the reception, and a chance to take a breather.
There are many things that could go wrong on your wedding day. Having Steven Dray as your photographer will not be one of them. He will deliver, 100%, you can count on him. We enjoyed our time with him so much that I feel like we're friends!!

Absolutely incredible photographer AND person

Dray was the very first vendor I contacted after my now-husband and I got engaged. I had been following his incredible work on instagram for awhile and actually chose our wedding date based, in part, on his availability. I didn’t even meet Dray before hiring him - I knew I wanted to work with him just based on his beautiful work, glowing reviews, and a few e-mail conversations. However, if we had met Dray before booking him, we would have booked him even sooner. The first time we met him was at our engagement photo session - something I wasn’t sure my fiancee was going to love doing (posing for two hours isn’t exactly any man’s dream!) but we both had the BEST time shooting with Dray. He made us both feel totally relaxed and confident and the result was absolutely breathtaking photographs. My fiancee and I, along with our family and friends, were completely speechless when we received the engagement photos. There is just something really special about Dray’s work - the moody colors, the creativity in the locations and backdrops he chooses, the specific poses he thinks of that create the perfect picture, etc. Dray shot our wedding a few weeks ago, and yet again - we had so much fun shooting with him. He made our entire bridal party feel at ease and all of them commented on how awesome it was work with him. I didn’t realize how important it is to have chemistry with your photographer (and other vendors), but working with Dray made what can be a somewhat stressful day so much more relaxing, calm, and fun. We received a sneak peak of our photos the very next day, which was so nice because it allowed us to relive our wedding day with our friends and family before they left town. Every. single. photo. was. gorgeous!!! We cannot wait to see the entire gallery - I have absolutely no question in my mind that the photos are going to be simply incredible. In sum, Dray is so talented, but even more importantly, he is a total joy to be around. He made our wedding day even that much more special. He was by far our favorite vendor, but we now consider him a friend. We cannot recommend him enough.

Perfection from Start to Finish

We have to imagine that finding a better photographer than Dray for your wedding or event in the Pittsburgh area is near impossible - and we know there's a lot of talent in the Steel City! From the moment we reached out to him, Dray was super responsive, down-to-earth, and organized. Leading up to the big day, he did absolutely everything we could've guessed needed to be done without pushing or rushing anything. On the big day, Dray absolutely killed it. He and his brother, Aaron, weren't too up-in-our-business while getting ready, and didn't appear to panic when we ran a little behind. They both hustled the entire day. He took the most stunning photos of our families, wedding party, and bridal portraits with effortless direction. He made posing super easy, and caught all the best stuff while we were laughing together. Dray somehow managed to be super chill but in also a strong director of people when he needed to be; he quickly gave effective direction and snapped so many gorgeous photos. We look like we legitimately came out of a magazine. After the ceremony, Dray and Aaron also took lovely photos of wedding guests and we received many comments on his pleasant demeanor and effective directions. Truly a fantastic experience from start to finish, choosing Dray was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding planning! There is no feasible way you will be disappointed if you do the same! Not only is he an amazing and talented photographer, he is a great dude.

No Regrets!

I searched for forever for a photographer that I liked. I felt the pressure too as we had a popular wedding date - 8/18/18 - to book one early on so I would be sure to get the one I want. I looked for months. The hairdresser I booked recommended Steve, and I loved the pictures he had posted on his website. Afraid that maybe his style was too urban for our wedding, I asked to see galleries of weddings he has shot in the past. I was surprised to see an array of images that matched the style I was looking for. I booked him as quickly as possible, and I am thrilled with the results! His photography style is creative and unique, but he also has a way of making the couple look candid and not posed. The day of our wedding was stressful... the makeup artist was running very behind schedule and our wedding coordinator at the venue severely messed up the schedule. Steve was amazing through the whole thing. He remained very calm and was able to adjust where needed but still keep us on schedule! He was able to work his magic and make sure we were able to get all the images we wanted! I would HIGHLY recommend using him as your wedding photographer. Thanks, Steve!

Dray is the best!

Choosing Dray was the absolute BEST decision we made for our wedding. Not only was he an amazing photographer and incredible to work with, but he also recommended most of our other vendors (DJ, Florist, and Hair/Make-up)! He was super organized leading up to the day of and made planning low stress and easy. We also had a rather large bridal party and Dray was easy going while still managing almost 20 people into tons of different shots quickly and efficiently. And the pictures are AMAZING! Plus we got a ton of them! He even gave us a preview of I think 5 pictures from the wedding less than a week after. I would pick Dray again in a heartbeat!

Picking Steven Dray to photograph our wedding was an absolute no brainer! My husband and I were looking for someone who had a unique way of photographing.... I didn’t want just “typical” wedding/engagement photos.
We had talked on the phone a few times before our engagement session, but never actually met. Right away, we felt completely comfortable with Dray & were chatting throughout our session. We went to a local state park & had so many backdrops. I can’t tell you how happy I was when we saw the pictures!!! Choosing a photo for save-the-date was truly difficult because there were so many great & creative shots.

We were also so thrilled with our wedding photos. I love all of them — from the getting ready pics, to the portraits, to the ceremony. There are so many good ones, and I loved sharing them with family and friends. He and his brother were so incredibly kind to work with... they were also very helpful at times — holding my

The Best Photographer!

Dray was amazing to work with. From our initial meeting, through engagement pictures, the planning process, and the day of the wedding we felt 100% comfortable and trusting in him. He was there with answers to all of my one million questions and made any stress I had about our photos disappear. Photographers are a huge part of your day and you want someone that you trust and know will do your day justice. The quality of his pictures and creativity are worth every dollar. His personality is exactly what you want to make your day fun, our wedding party is still talking about him and how enjoyable he made taking pictures be. We highly recommend Dray and know that you will not be disappointed!

Best decision

Your photographer is one of the most important vendors to consider when planning your wedding, and we are so thankful that we chose Steven! Not only is he incredibly talented, but he operates as your partner throughout the planning process. He took the time to meet with us on several occasions, which allowed us to talk through the experiences we wanted to create and capture during our wedding day. Our wedding was held in Downtown Pittsburgh, and Steven was incredibly knowledgeable about several photogenic locations throughout the City. He also did an exceptional job of managing the formal photo-taking process and getting us to our reception on time. He was very attentive throughout the reception and and caught several special moments that we now have the ability to cherish forever. Steven was a huge piece of what made our wedding exactly what we always dreamed of and I STRONGLY recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent photographer!

Steve is absolutely amazing! My husband and I are fortunate enough to know Steve from church and he truly is one of the kindest, hardworking, and creative men we know. He shot our Senior and Engagement photos, and it was important to us he photographed our wedding. Steve has a special way of making you feel like posing for the camera is second nature. Honestly, if you've never stood in front of a camera before, he will make you feel like you've been a model your whole life! I think anyone can take a photo, but Steve captures the heart of each moment. Each photo he takes become a treasured memory. We cannot recommend Mr. Dray enough!! He is an absolute joy to work with and gives positive and creative feedback. He brings a calming yet energetic spirit to each shoot. Incredible photos & such a wonderful person!

We had THE BEST experience working with Steven Dray for our wedding and engagement photos. Choosing a photographer was priority #1 for us after finalizing our date and venue, and Dray exceeded every expectation with photos we'll cherish forever. From our initial meeting all the way through our wedding day, he was so kind and easy to work with, and provided all the guidance and communication we needed to feel super confident that we were in good hands on the wedding day. I was so impressed by his attention to detail, his creativity and amazing attitude in wet and cold weather :). No regrets! Perfect wedding photos!

My husband and I consider ourselves to be the least photogenic people in existence. Steven Dray changed that for us. The photos we took for our engagement session and wedding ended up being gorgeous! Throughout the shoots he gave advice and guidance on poses, and really capture those great moments (he has a great eye for things!) To my surprise, he even checked out the venues before arriving and already had a great list of spots for us to be photographed at without us having to put in a ton of effort into thinking about the location. He also was very professional, flexible, quick to respond, and used a multitude of camera and film styles. His touch up skills are also great and he is all around a great guy. In summary, I think with his skill he was able to capture the love between us, which is what I truly wanted all along. We would recommend him to anyone and you will surely not be disappointed if you work with Steven Dray!

You can stop reading reviews and searching for a photographer...you have found exactly the photographer you have dreamed about since you were first old enough to dream of your Big Day. Steven Dray is who every up and coming photographer aspires to be! His passion for what he does is so intense, but unlike other photographers I have looked at...his passion is equally matched by his skill. Having planned a wedding for my daughter, Steven was THE ONLY vendor I didn't feel the need to "check up on." His mature professionalism is packaged in an easy going/"we've got this" attitude that gives you authentic confidence...not concern. It was actually a comfort knowing he was responsible for such an immensely important part of the day; and he lovingly carried that trust from the first meeting with the Bride and Groom up through all communications after the wedding. He didn't just photograph my daughter's special day...he really got to know my daughter and her husband so that the photographs, without saying a word, reveal a story of who they really are. That isn't just a skill...it's an absolutely rare gift. I will not describe his photographs. Carve out some time and go to his website to see his photographs (you will need the time because you won't be able to stop looking). They speak louder than words! You cannot look through his site and not be blown away (you will actually catch yourself mentally super-imposing yourself in the photos...because they are EXACTLY what your dream album would look like). Now, stop loitering in the reviews and call him. I am obviously not the only one who knows how incredible he is...and you don't want to waste another minute before making the best decision for your Big Day.

Steven did an INCREDIBLE job! He has a real artist eye, has great ideas, and knows exactly how to get everyone comfortable AND give direction! The photos were beyond amazing. Steven Dray is an amazing photographer and an even more amazing human! We first met Steven when he shot my husband's brother's wedding. We were so impressed with his work and style that we asked him to come out to Denver to photograph our wedding. From start to finish Steven was a true professional -- he was responsive, organized and took all of the stress out of the process. He's also extremely kind and easy to work with. Steven navigated our wedding day like the pro he is, and put us at ease, all while navigating the party and personalities of our big day. He put in so much extra effort, artistry and special touches -- we are beyond thrilled with the gorgeous and meaningful moments he captured. He somehow managed to encapsulate all of the beauty, personality and emotion from our day, without being cheesy or over-the-top. It was perfect. We absolutely cannot recommend Steven Dray more! Steven Dray is not only an absolutely phenomenal photographer, but an all around genuine, happy and organized guy. He was the first photographer we met with during our wedding planning process and we knew he was exactly the right person for us. Everyone in our wedding party couldn't say enough positive things about him and his brother, Aaron. Together, they made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and guided us through different poses in a really fun-loving and enjoyable way. Within a few days after our wedding, Steven Dray sent us a few sneak peek photos. If that doesn't show his commitment to his clients and passion for his work then I don't know what does! Steven is the best! He is so professional about all of the logistics (like being prepared, organized, having excellent equipment, showing up on time, making sure everyone is on the same page) and super personable when directing you/your family on how to pose. The experience is as great as the quality of the photography. He and his team work really really hard behind the scenes so that everything seems easy and stress-free for the couple! Both his formal photos and his candids are awesome. During the ceremony and reception, you won't even realize that he's there until you see the photos of all the unique moments he was able to capture.

I’m a researcher, a planner, and I know what I like. When choosing a wedding photographer, I wanted to find someone with fantastic photos and an impressive portfolio. But nowadays, those are a dime a dozen. More importantly, I wanted to find someone who my (now) wife Anna and I would feel comfortable with on our wedding day. We were looking for someone who was passionate, confident, yet open enough to hear our requests and turn it into a tangible vision through photo. Hiring Steven Dray was one of the best decisions we made while planning for our wedding.

After meeting with a half dozen photographers, we set up an afternoon meeting with Steven to discuss over coffee. In about four minutes, we knew he was our guy. First of all, Steven is a photography geek, and I mean that in the best way possible. When talking about his profession, and his style and approach to photography, we could immediately tell that he really loves what he does.

True, Steven’s website and portfolio are impressive (really impressive). But more than that, his enthusiasm and energy is what set him apart. He exudes this “I’m really good what I do. I got this. You’re in good hands. Let’s have a blast” vibe, and it’s exactly what we were looking for.

Take a look. The photos speak for themselves. The day was imperfect, but Steven captured that imperfection, perfectly.
I highly recommend you meet with Steven. If you’re the type of person (or couple) who are open to ideas, and put trust in your photographer, I promise you that you won’t regret it. Five stars, two thumbs up, smiles for miles.

Steven did pictures for our 13th anniversary July 3, 2017. He flew to Charleston, SC and made the whole experience so special. He was kind, courteous, professional, and his eye for creative details is like nothing like I have ever seen. I was not feeling happy with myself and was dreading having pictures of myself at this exact moment in time. But some how, some way, Steven made it magical. We had so much fun walking around downtown capturing our favorite spots and reliving memorable moments. And when we finally got to see the pictures I was floored. The pictures were amazing and I actually liked how I looked in them! I don't know how he did that! I would highly recommend him for any occasion, big or small. You will not be disappointed!

The best!! We honestly couldn't have been more pleased! Neither my husband nor I have ever been big fans of getting our pictures taken so I was a little bit nervous but Steven and his brother Aaron were so laid back that we both felt completely at ease! His photography style completely captured the overall feeling of our wedding day and he made sure to capture all of the small, intricate details. We could not have been more excited when we got our pictures back! They completely embodied us as a couple and we were so thrilled with how they turned out. We had so many favorites it was hard to narrow down the choices-I never in a million years thought that would happen!! We couldn't have made a better decision and we HIGHLY recommend Steven!!

Steven was amazing!! 10/10 would recommend using him. He was timely in his initial response when I reached out to him, his rates are very fair, and his work speaks for itself! My husband and I eloped and had a very small, very unique type of wedding (Steven even stood as a witness!) and on the day we got married we had a last-minute change of ceremony time. Steven handled it professionally and happily, and I can not express enough how great his work is. Steven Dray or Steven Dray Photography is amazing, I cannot say enough good things about him, his skill level, his work ethic, or his final product. Steven is super easy going & fun, yet keeps things moving, organized and on-task. I know Steven as our family photographer and also as a colleague in the wedding industry. Seeing him at work in two different capacities as a client myself and a colleague really solidifies my opinion of Steven's professionalism in his career. He is excellent with my girls (5 & 8), he gets them to relax and be themselves in our photos, he helps us to know how to pose and stand...and just be ourselves as a family. The candid and even posed photos I have from Steven are my treasured memories captured forever, I am so grateful for them. Steven was absolutely incredible. He photographed my husband and me two days before our wedding in Bermuda. Despite the harsh lighting and extreme heat, the pictures were PERFECT. He somehow made us look like models in every single photograph and made sure we looked as flattering as possible in every photo, telling us where to place our hands, legs etc (I still use his tips today!). He also shot some images on film, which made a lot of the pictures really unique. Lastly, he made us feel comfortable the entire time and kept us laughing and smiling. I would confidently reccomend Steven to anyone!

I would give Steven an 10/5 if I could!!! My husband and I are beyond blown away by how wonderful the entire experience was, the photos are beautiful, were delivered in an extremely reasonable amount of time, and working with Steven and his brother on the wedding day was great! They were both patient and thoughtful and helped us keep moving forward when our timeline was shortened due to a shuttle bus arriving late. They came up with great solutions to get the shots we wanted! If you are reading this review it’s likely that you are engaged, so congrats to you and welcome to the magical world of weddings! I remember searching for our photographer vividly, because this was the most important vendor for our wedding. I interviewed a total of three photographers and it was easy to see that Steven Dray was a cut above. By now I’m sure you’ve met some vendors who will just eat you up, tell you all the things you want to hear, smile & laugh at all your jokes, as if you’re the most hilarious person in the world, then follow up with you a million times as if you just left the car dealership. That is not Steven Dray. He was genuine and sincere, and not afraid to have a professional opinion that looked out for our best interests, not his. That’s one of the many reasons we choose to work with him. My favorite quality of Steven Dray’s is that he is a photographer because it’s what he loves, and when you find a vendor who loves what they do, it is present in their work. Just being around him shooting, makes you questions your own career, seriously! Our engagement shoot alone was one of the coolest dates we’ve had as a couple ever, such a marvelous adventure, it didn’t feel rushed or limited in time, he was present with us for each and every shot! He even dropped one of his cameras on the ground at one point in our shoot, and rather than it ruining his and our day, he laughed it off and continued to capture amazing shots. I really enjoyed the non-digital film shots taken which he sent all the way to Hawaii to be developed with the best quality (like who does that??), and they are worth it! I say this with compete sincerity, there are times in life when you meet people who you know are doing what they were destined for in life. I’ve never felt this to be more true than with Steven Dray! If you are considering having him as your photographer, we cannot recommend him enough.

Steven's work is amazing. He captures special moments without being intrusive, he becomes a partner in the process and he provides excellent value for the extremely high quality of the photos. His passion for taking great engagement and wedding photos is evident both in his attitude and the results. My wife and I felt like we made a friend by the end of the process and our family raves about our pictures.

Steven was great to work with, showed up on time and was flexible with our schedule. So far the images I've seen look great. Guests remarked how they appreciated him and his brother were taking pictures at the reception and excited to see those. Made us feel comfortable and at ease on the wedding day and was creative. Unique and relaxed!

I'm getting married in my hometown and wanted a local photographer even though I live out of state. Needing to choose a photographer from afar and without the possibility of meeting in person, I relied on portfolios alone. I felt truly overwhelmed until I saw Dray's work...his photos blew me away and I knew I didn't want anyone else!

Dray was incredibly responsive and easy to talk to from the very beginning, even during just the email inquiry process. (He even sent us a Christmas card, despite not yet even meeting in person!) He was flexible and worked to fit us in for an engagement shoot during our very short window of time that we were in Pittsburgh for the holidays. The day that we met, it started to drizzle. He left it up to us: shoot photos that day anyway, or grab a beer instead and reschedule. He promised he could rock it even in the rain, but he knew that some people wouldn't want that. We went for it anyway, and I'm so glad we did!

It was a ton of fun. He knew some great spots in the city and we discovered some new ones too. It was very natural and he didn't make us feel awkward at all.

He got the photos to us within just a few weeks despite it being right after the holidays, and they're amazing. He was right...he rocked it. I'm a harsh critic of myself in photos, but Dray sent us so many I love.

Based on my engagement photo shoot, I can't recommend him enough. I'm looking forward to working with Dray again for my wedding!

Update, post-wedding: Our pictures are AWESOME, and there are SO MANY!!!! I'm so pleased. Steven even had a present waiting for us at home when we got back from the honeymoon, incorporating one of the photos from the wedding. I couldn't recommend him highly enough!

Steven Dray was absolutely amazing to work with. He made our wedding day, if you ask me. He has such a calming presence, which is needed when nerves are running high. It's truly amazing how he was able to capture super artistic shots but he makes it look totally effortless. And he liked to make us laugh which was also great. The final product was TONS of beautiful shots that help us relive the day. I would book him again in a heartbeat, and I recommend him to all my friends.

Steven has such a creative eye. His work is very different yet he still captures all of the important moments. He is passionate about what he does, you can feel it and it makes you feel very secure on one of the most important days of your life. You can tell Steven really cares about his work and his clients. He makes you feel at ease immediately. He is extremely nice and listens to your requests. His brother, Aaron, was his assistant the day of our wedding and he was just as pleasant to be around. They did a wonderful job. My engagement and wedding photos were beautiful! I can't wait to use Steven Dray Images for years to come.

Not only is Steve incredibly talented, but he was an absolute pleasure to work with! From the very first exchange of e-mails and meeting him in person to our engagement session and then our wedding day, it was like we have known him forever! To me, this is such an important quality when selecting a photographer. Steve is very laid back and just wants you to have fun. Let's just say I never knew we could even laugh that much or that hard until our sessions with him. I will always remember when we first met him his words were "I am not in this to be a business man, but to catch those special moments." This was truly evident in the finished products we received from both our engagement session & wedding day. He was definitely a great decision!! It has almost been a year and I still catch myself flipping through all of the photos on a periodic basis :)

Steven was the first vendor I booked - before I even officially had a venue. I met him for coffee and knew instantly that he was perfect. Not only does he have beautiful pictures, but he is so easy to get along with - which was important for both me and my husband. We used Steven for both our engagement pictures and the wedding and I can't wait to see the rest of our wedding photos! Steven was able to suggest some really unique places in Oakland to take photos, which I appreciated. He made us, our bridal party, and our guests feel extremely comfortable. I would recommend Steven to anyone - he is crazy talented and also just such a great guy!

I can not say enough wonderful things about Steven. I was beyond impressed with how talented he is. I love looking at the product from our wedding and engagement photos and love seeing all the other photos that he takes.

He was the first photographer we interviewed and actually was referred to us through another photographer. He was so personable we knew we had to go with him (and almost canceled our other 2 interviews).

Steven truly cares about what he does and it shows in his work. He was always extremely responsive and was a pleasure to work with. I plan on using his services again in the future.

I think choosing a photographer is one of the most important vendor selections. It's the best way to capture your memories for the big day and it's one of the only vendors that you will have to spend most of your big day with. It is hard to find photographers with packages under $3,500, but we were able to find a few. We interviewed 6 photographers. I found 5 of them on wedding wire and the knot, and I found 1 through a friend. After our first interview with the friend's referral, Steven Dray, we were confident that we had found a great match. Steven's portfolio had the style of photos that we were looking for, and he was friendly, down to earth, creative, professional, and flexible. He was very responsive to calls and emails. We weren't really sure where we wanted to have our engagement and wedding photos taken, but he had a ton of ideas and helped us decide. He was good at directing us. I thought it would be awkward posing for photos, but he made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera. All of our photos were amazing. We have received so many compliments about the photos, and many of my family members and the wedding party made comments about how great he was to work with. I would highly recommend Steven. We can't say enough good things about him.
