Shawna and JD did my hair and makeup for my wedding day, and they were an absolute joy to work with! Their positive energy and calming presence made me feel completely at ease throughout the entire process.
Shawna did my makeup for my wedding and was incredibly attentive to my vision, making sure everything was exactly how I imagined. We did the trial run right before my bridal shower, and I got so many compliments on my makeup! By the time the big day arrived, I had just one small tweak I wanted to make — and Shawna nailed it. My makeup looked absolutely stunning, both in person and in photos, and I felt beautiful the entire day.
JD did my hair for my wedding, and it turned out exactly how I envisioned — and it lasted all night! During the trial, she happily created two different styles to help bring my vision to life. When the big day came, I ended up going in a completely different direction than what we had planned, so I was a little nervous since we hadn’t done a trial for the new style — but she absolutely nailed it. I couldn’t be happier with how my hair turned out! -

Status Salon assisted me and my team with my wedding glam. JD is so kind and personable when I first talked to her. She surrounds herself with amazing staff with the same qualities. I had the pleasure of having Sydney(makeup) and Shawna(hair) a part of my glam team. They made sure my vision of hamu exceeded expectations and that I looked and felt amazing.
I definitely suggest doing a hamu trail with them (and in general) because you get to know these wonderful ladies before your big day but, you also get to see what doesn't work. Shawna was very helpful in making sure I had the hair style I wanted. When the trail didn't go as planned, she adapted and my hair was amazing and kept the style/curl even through wind and festivities.
For the wedding day, Sydney made my ladies feel comfortable and enhanced their beautiful faces. Shawna worked with all hair types so effortlessly. I cannot be more impressed and honored to have had the Status Salon with me on my wedding day. -

JD, Elise, and Cassie have exceeded my expectations and contributed to making my wedding day so memorable and smooth. From the first day of an inquiry phone call, they were so friendly, professional, and clear about expectations (services, potential timelines, prices, etc.). After booking their services for my wedding, they were very responsive through their communication portal and always made me feel valued even though I felt silly asking some possible “obvious questions.”
I decided to move forward with doing a hair and makeup trial run a couple of months before my wedding, and I would highly recommend this! I know wedding budgets can be tight, but I am so glad I did a trial because it helped me establish an even stronger rapport with JD and Elise and they made the experience so comfortable and fun (their staff who checked us in were also super sweet and welcoming!). I am not someone who does my own hair and makeup often or even has much of an opinion what I think looks good on me. JD and Elise were so kind and professional and had me bring in inspiration photos that I might be interested in. They gave their insight and were super supportive about my ideas and I couldn’t be happier about what their final plan was! I felt so confident and beautiful, and I still looked and felt like myself, which was very important to me.
On my wedding day, JD, Elise, and Cassie were very punctual and stuck with the expected timeline seamlessly. All of my bridesmaids, mom, and mother in law, felt so comfortable and welcomed with their positive energy and that really set the tone for the rest of the day. JD, Elise, and Cassie were not only extremely professional and talented in their hair and makeup skills, but they are genuinely such kind, sweet, thoughtful, and respectful individuals, and that is what truly stood out to me during my time with them and I cannot thank them enough.
JD, as the owner of Status Salon, your team’s kindness, professionalism, and strong communication/ interpersonal skills are clear reflections of your strong leadership and management skills, so they are so lucky to have a leader like you!
I highly recommend Status Salon if you are looking for hair and makeup services in the Bay Area! They are an amazing team and will go above and beyond to make your experiences so smooth, fun, and memorable! -

Shawna and Taylor were an absolute dream team for the hair and makeup glam on my wedding day! From my very first meeting with Shawna during the hair and makeup trial, she was not only a true professional but also a delight to get to know. Not only did Shawna work wonders on my bridal look, but having both her and Taylor present on the big day elevated the atmosphere, and they effortlessly fit right in. Shawna was incredible in translating my vision into reality. She not only gave me the exact look I wanted but exceeded my expectations. The modifications we made during the trial, guided by her expertise, resulted in a final look that left me feeling better than I could have imagined.
The team at Status Salon truly made my wedding beauty experience exceptional. It's a one-stop shop for all your beauty needs. They walked me through the process of using clip-in hair extensions for the first time and offered valuable tips for hair and skin prep for the big day. Having them on my team for the wedding day added an extra layer of ease and confidence for the day. Worth every penny. -

Status Salon did services for myself, husband, both of our mothers & my maid of honor. Shawna was my artist for both hair & makeup - she is so sweet & we clicked at my trial! Day of the event it was so fun chatting with her & the rest of the bridal party. I'm so sorry I can't remember the name of the other artist, but she was so sweet as well. Everyone loved their looks & it lasted all night :) -

Our wedding party all looked great- both hair and makeup done by Shawna and Sarah. They arrived spot on time and were ready to get going on wedding day.

Status Salon is Top Notch
Status Salon was a sincere pleasure to work with. Through covid cancellations, wild fires, etc, JD was flexible, gracious, professional.
The Status team was a huge part of our wedding events including bridal shower glam, spray tans, eyelash curling, extensions, makeup and hair. Their team does it all!
They listened carefully to the vision of each person in the bridal party. Everyone was very happy with their look. We trust them and their skills and highly recommend their services for any of your special events.

JD, Elise, and the Status team are incredible women with a keen eye for excellent details. For my wedding, each bridesmaid got their hair and makeup done, and separately, each pulled me aside and said, "WOW. I have always hated getting my makeup done, but these ladies are INCREDIBLE." The team at Status truly listens and lets you take the lead, resulting in hair and makeup that you can feel comfortable in, all day. They took extra care with my Matron of Honor, ensuring that her makeup was hypoallergenic and fit to her needs. JD even stayed after our ceremony to help me touch up (tears aplenty!) If you are looking for a professional, charismatic, and excellent hair and makeup team, look no further. THESE LADIES ARE AMAZING. -

Where do I even start?! JD was a DREAM to work with. I am sensitive to smells. First off, she only uses hypoallergenic makeup and when she put makeup on me, she would have me smell it first -- this was huge and allowed me to not have any reactions! I sent JD over pictures of my dream hair + makeup and she did them PERFECTLY. All of our us ladies understand how hard it is to color match foundations -- not to look orange or a weird color. JD did this perfectly. I seriously looked like myself but upgraded and felt like a million bucks. JD is seriously THE SWEETEST and FUNNIEST person too. What some people don't realize is that getting ready is a significant part of the wedding day and so the personality of your makeup + hair artist is extremely important. No worries here! JD is literally the funniest, nicest lady ever! She makes you feel like you are instant best friends, all while giving you the perfect hair + makeup. She kept checking in with me throughout the process to make sure every detail lived up to my expectations -- and wow did it! There were many details in the dream makeup picture I sent over that I didn't even know -- and she allowed me to say yes or no to each step. Also! I was getting ready during lunch and she somehow did my makeup + hair while I ate lunch. She was so encouraging to remind me to eat (a very important thing on your day!). Last but not least -- my mom wanted makeup with JD on the day of but she asked for it the day before my wedding. JD was able to squeeze my mom in after my maid of honor and I, and my mom LOVED her. I am forever grateful to JD. Also! In scheduling, I got to work with the incredible Elise and she is a serious gem as well. They are incredibly responsive in email and text. BOOK STATUS SALON NOW! You literally will not regret it -- you have no idea how talented these ladies are. -

I am a wedding Florist and I have known JD and her phenomenal team for many years. When it was time for my wedding 3/16/20 in Santa Barbara I knew I had to reach out. I had AshMo as my hairstylist. She is fun, excited for you and has a huge amount of positive energy making you feel like the party is ready to start. She reviewed all of my images, placed the extensions in from Extensions by JD to give me all the volume and length needed for the style of updo I was hoping for. The morning of the wedding, she was so calm, focused and communicated the whole process of what she was doing. Her timing was impeccable so I never worried if I was on time. She saw things and reached out to correct them like my son's haircut and my mother's hair and wanted everything and everyone to look perfect for my day. Ashley aka AshMo was the saving grace I needed to keep me calm. I could not have asked for anything else more and truly grateful she was there for me and my family. Trust your vendors! I truly trusted Status Salon to put something so important and fragile in their hands. JD and all of her staff all amazing, hair, makeup, extensions you name they excel's at it and her staff is the most caring out there. Trust your Vendors. I trust Status Salon -

I'm so happy to have found Status Salon- Elise and Flo did an incredible job and made us all look and feel amazing! I loved meeting them for my hair and make up trial, and they exceeded anything I could have imagined on the day of my wedding. All of my bridesmaids raved about how much they loved their hair and makeup, as well as how fun Elise and Flo were to hang out with while we were all getting ready. They made us feel super comfortable, and did an amazing job of making us look natural yet glammed up. These guys are the best- you are in great hands with them! -

JD is the most amazing person in the world to work with. She absolutely nailed it the first try at my hair and makeup trial. Then, come our wedding day she made me look and feel even more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. She really is a dream to work with and I'd recommend her and her team to anyone!
In addition to JD we had her amazing partners, Elise and Morgan, there to assist. These ladies killed it! They were able to bring each and every one of my bridesmaids vision to life and not a single person left feeling like it wasn't quite what they wanted. I thought everyone (including our mom's) looked absolutely stunning!
I wish we could do the day all over again because kicking off your wedding morning with the Status ladies and your besties is indescribable! SO MUCH FUN!

JD and Raelynn did my hair and makeup respectively and I can honestly say I have never looked better.
From the beginning, JD was very open and clear about about the details regarding consultation, booking etc. Our event was during the July 4 weekend when things get busy and booked up in advance. But JD accommodated my last minute demand of adding two additional hair services.
On the day of, they came early to set up and were very good with their time management. While I was quite nervous about the event in general, JD and Raelynn helped me relax. I don't wear makeup on a daily basis and did not want a very heavy set makeup for the event as well. Raelynn respected that and did a very natural looking makeup that enhanced my best features. JD did my hair and made sure the bobby pins weren't hurting my head. I did a good thing of trusting their judgement when it came to doing my hair and makeup
For my bridal party, the girls who were doing their own makeup, Raelynn even helped them out with the lashes and fixing eye makeup etc.
At the end of the night, I not only got a lot of compliments but my hair and make up were intact even after plenty of tears and a night of crazy dancing.
I would like to thank them both for making my day so special :) -

Wedding Review: When I got married in July of 2017, I contacted JD from Status Salon. JD was quick to respond and was super friendly and set a hair trial for me with Alicia. My hair trial was such a great experience. Alicia and JD listened to me and were knowledgeable in recommending the best hair extensions and color for my wedding day. On the day of, Alicia did my MOH's hair, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law's hair as well. They LOVED their styles and looked very elegant. When it came to my hair, Alicia pulled out a lovely box with the extensions and a lovely wedding day greeting card from JD which was so thoughtful (I still have that card) Alicia was very detail oriented and taught me how to put my extensions in for post wedding use as well as explaining how to properly use the curling iron. I wanted to have that "mermaid" hair look with long wavy curls, and that is EXACTLY what I requested. I don't usually have my hair grow past my shoulders so when Alicia put in the extensions, I looked completely and fabulously different. Everyone complimented me on my wedding day and LOVED my hair. I want to thank both Alicia and JD for working with me to make me feel magical on my wedding day.
New color and cut: January 18, 2019
I haven't had my hair done since my wedding day almost two years ago. So I decided to contact Status Salon. Again, JD was quick to respond and set my color appointment with Elise. Elise is also very knowledgeable about the color and explained the process in which to get my hair to the level I want. Both Elise and JD took their time to color my hair and JD also did my cut, and gave me fresh and fierce bangs (which I also received many compliments of). They also explained how to treat my hair post color.
Again, two amazing experiences with Status Salon. I greatly appreciate their time, effort and wonderful customer service and I look forward to going back for my next appointment. Many thanks to JD and her wonderful team! -

She's been my go-to hair gal for over a year. She cuts and colors my hair beautifully and has styled my hair for formal events, helped color match extensions, etc. Literally helped me with all my hair needs! Her expertise is amazing and you can tell she's so passionate about her craft. She's even done my makeup before for a few occasions and it was stunning. Her eye for detail and color is phenomenal. We were all so impressed with their expertise, calm and reassuring demeanors, ability to listen to each and every one of us in order to provide the best hair and makeup experience!!! I hired JD and Kathryn from Bay Area Beautiful to do hair and make-up on myself, 3 bridesmaids, junior bridesmaid and mother of the bride. They were so kind and helpful in making sure my exact vision was achieved and wanted to make sure every person was happy with their look. Too often, bridesmaids suffer for the sake of the bride, but Kathryn and JD made everyone feel beautiful! I live in Hawaii so they accommodated my travel schedule and worked out a trial date for everyone. I had a minor panic attack about my own hair just before the wedding and JD was able fit me in for a second trial to make sure everything was JUST RIGHT. She is a godsend!

I really loved my makeup and hair artist. Rae did my makeup, she was so sweet & kept me laughing the whole time. Every time I was unsure about something or asked for her to make a slight adjustment she did. She always hyped me up and reassured me while signing along to our playlist. Dana did my hair the morning of the wedding, she did an incredible job, extensions, braids, curls, etc. She helped redo my hairpins to get them exactly how I wanted. Sydney did not do my hair, but she did several of my bridesmaids / mother of bride and groom. All of them were so warm and inviting and sang along with us the whole time.
They provided us with instructions for hair and makeup ahead of time and how to arrive day of. We also did a trial run months before to make sure I liked what we had planned. -

I had a great experience with Status Salon !! Elise was soooo nice and listened to everything that I wanted done to my hair. I had changed my mind after our trial run on the style of hair I wanted and she made it work with out even practicing !! My hair came out Better than I expected ! Honor Sent on 07/17/2017JD was one of my favorite vendors to work with. She was very organized and professional. I had an idea of what I wanted for my hair/makeup, but I was also open to ideas. JD gave me some ideas and I was really impressed with what how my makeup looked after the trial. On the wedding day, JD did my makeup and hair just liked we had talked about. I felt beautiful and got many compliments. She also worked with her assistant to do the hair and makeup for my three bridesmaids. All the girls looked gorgeous and they were so happy with how it all turned out. She was very flexible when I wanted to add my mom to the makeup list last minute. She fit her right in and my mom was pleased with how her makeup turned out. I would highly recommend JD and her team for your wedding day.
