I could not have been happier with this choice of venue for my wedding reception. Matt worked with my husband and I every step of the way, and you could tell he wanted our day to be just as special as we wanted it to be! After we had our tour of the venue, I just knew Star Hill Ranch was what I wanted for our day. It has such wonderful western scenery; all of the buildings each serve various purposes, and I was able to choose a lot of my own vendors. What's really great about this venue is that there are so many building options that you don't have to do anything outside in the Texas heat if you don't want to! We had our reception in August, and it was as hot as it could get. So we did everything inside and it was perfect! One of my favorite buildings was the saloon. This venue has limitless photo opportunities, and so much space to be really creative with how you want to approach your wedding event. When the sun went down and the lights turned on in the main area, there were even people who started dancing in the "street" during the sunset...it was magical. I could not possibly recommend this venue any more highly than I have expressed in this review. The cherry ontop was that it was even the most cost-effective option for us. Thank you, Matt!!! Even almost a year later, I think back on this experience with such incredibly fond memory. -

My husband and I hosted our wedding at Star Hill Ranch in September 2025 and we only have wonderful things to say about Star Hill Ranch. Planning a wedding can be a very intimidating process, but Matt and his team at Star Hill Ranch made it easy, smooth, and such a fun and positive experience. Working with Matt, Renee, and the rest of their team was amazing. Star Hill Ranch allows for a customizable experience and they work with you and your budget so you can plan the wedding of your dreams. We had the best time planning our wedding and our special day was flawless, beautiful, and simply the best day ever. Star Hill Ranch provides such a unique space with beautiful outdoor and indoor options, perfect for any wedding vision, season, weather, and event size.
We are already thinking of the next event we can have at Star Hill Ranch! -

This was the second venue that we toured, and the moment we stepped out of the car, we knew we had to book this for our wedding. Every inch of this place tells a story and has an amazing vibe. Matt and Renee were a dream to work with. They understood our vision and tried to make any ideas we had work. It happened to be the one time in Texas it rained for our day (of course!), but it actually turned out to be stunning weather. They were so fast shifting between rain and sun plans, still accommodated what we had in mind while also ensuring our guests were taken care of. They have amazing connections with people in the wedding business, literally every recco we went with they provided was perfect. I still am depressed about the day being over because it was just that good. I will forever recommend this venue - you truly can't go wrong. -

From the very beginning, Star Hill Ranch felt like home. From our first interaction, Matt (co-owner) made us feel so genuinely welcome and supported, and the moment we stepped foot on the property, we just knew it was the perfect place for our wedding. The beauty, warmth, and character of the venue are unmatched.
Throughout the entire process—from signing the initial contract to even days after our wedding—Matt and his daughter Renee were nothing short of incredible. After our celebration, we accidentally left behind a few deeply meaningful items, and Matt was kind enough to personally meet up with me so I could retrieve them. That level of care truly speaks volumes about the people behind this venue.
Renee, who we hired as our month-of coordinator, was an absolute dream to work with. She is thoughtful, organized, communicative, and asked all the right questions to fully understand and execute our vision. She truly nailed it. Despite having coordinated a 500+ guest wedding the day before, both Renee and Matt were completely on top of everything for our smaller celebration the following day. Renee even brought in friends to help assemble my bouquet and set up our décor and table decorations—above and beyond in every sense.
Her communication with our vendors and her coordination throughout the event were impeccable, allowing us to be fully present and enjoy every moment of our day. Our friends and family (who traveled from all over the U.S. and even as far as Europe, Dubai, and Australia) could not stop raving about the venue. Many said it was one of their favorite weddings and wedding locations they had ever experienced.
We are endlessly grateful to the Star Hill Ranch team for making our wedding dreams come true. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine love for what they do shine through in every detail. We truly cannot recommend them, and their stunning venue, enough. -

Absolutely Magical - A Fairy Tale Wedding
We hosted my daughter's wedding at Star Hill Ranch on 12/9/22. The wedding was absolutely wonderful! The venue was picture perfect and all of the set up was exactly as we had planned, plus some. We could not have asked for better weather - it was a gorgeous evening with a full moon that all of our guests could enjoy because we were able to have everything outside. After the sun set and all of the surrounding lighting came on it was magical. In fact, I have had many guests tell me it was the best wedding they have ever attended. ( And they have been to quite a few!)
Matt & Renee were so easy to work with and very flexible. At our very first meeting they provided a planning spreadsheet that became invaluable to me as I navigated the next 12 months planning for this special event! I could not have pulled it off without their assistance. Very happy customer here! -

We got married in the spring of 2022 and had a wonderful experience with Matt and Star Hill Ranch. What we liked:
1) Very unique and beautiful outdoor venue. Everybody felt like they were getting the "Texas" experience.
2) Matt is very responsive and professional. We were communicating with him for over a year and had no problems (especially helpful since we were living on the other side of the country).
3) BYOB alcohol was a game changer to help us save money.
4) The day of wedding planner (Renee) is Matt's daughter - she was great on the day of and also helped us do a lot of DIY for cheap or free (she was great value for how much we spent (around ~$1200)).
We spent about $8500 for 100 guests which included the venue (wedding reception and afterparty), traffic permits, rentals, and the bartenders which we got through Matt. Great value and high quality.
We were a bit skeptical initially (we had our minds set on another place) but when we visited and saw the place in person and Matt, we immediately decided this was the place for us. Definitely visit!

We got married at Star Hill Ranch in Sept. and it was the most amazing experience! I cannot write enough wonderful things about this location. Matt and Renee were awesome to work with, made everything so easy and were there for every step and question along the way. They are fantastic people! The venue itself…just wow! Within the first minute of stepping up to the venue I knew this was our place. How often do you get a whole “town” to yourself for your special day. This laid-back remarkable venue is super customizable, such as where to hold your ceremony, your reception, etc. which I loved. Many buildings and areas to make your own for your vision of the perfect day. Highly recommend!! -

I booked my wedding at Star Hill Ranch immediately after seeing the property. Matt and Renee made me and my family feel right at home from the start.
We used Renee as our day-of coordinator and she took care of everything. From decorating, to coordinating my family and directing folks where to go - it was such a relief to have her there that day. She took the decor that I brought with me and combined it with some of her own items that matched my fall theme and really ran with it. My reception looked absolutely beautiful! I couldn't have done half the job that she and the team did that day.
We also asked Matt W. to perform our wedding ceremony for us. He has such a calm and kind demeanor - we wanted our ceremony to be casual, fun (and also kind of quick). He was able to do all of those things for us. We couldn't be more grateful.
If you are looking for a great country venue, close to Austin and with a team that literally brings you in as family - look no further. I will recommend Star Hill to anyone looking for a wedding or event venue. -

Star Hill Ranch was a dream come true. From the first time we stepped on property, we felt cared for and in good hands. Ownership for this venue is top notch, and they will go above and beyond each time to take care of any needs that you have. Matt, Renee, and the whole staff were incredible to us, we truly felt like part of the family. Despite not being country people ourselves, the venue itself is gorgeous, giving you a touch of rustic with a very cozy feeling while outdoors. Since all the buildings are real, there are numerous configurations you can have depending on number of guests and expected weather conditions. There are numerous photo opportunities scattered throughout the property as you'll get the opportunity to be king/queen for the day. Our guests queued up months worth of Instagram content between all the incredible backdrops of the chapel, saloon, truck, barn, and more. Lastly, pricing for this venue was an absolute steal, I dare anyone to get better value for a wedding venue in the Austin area.
My Wife and I were over the moon for Star Hill after our initial meeting with Matt, and it delivered in spades on the big day. The smoothest operation of this scale I've ever seen, Renee was an incredible coordinator and she handled everything so professionally and with haste. We are so thankful for Star Hill Ranch, and would recommend any engaged couple give it a look. You won't be disappointed. -

Working with Matt and Renee at Star Hill Ranch was easily the best decision we made when it came to planning our wedding. From our first tour of the venue, we knew this was the place for us. Matt and Rene were the absolute best in their approach to preparation, step by step planning and optimizing the venue's outstanding resources for our wedding!♥
Matt kept us informed and in the loop on every move, while Rene performed flawlessly on executing the plan for our wedding day!
From my wife and I's perspective, Matt and Rene went out of their way in order to make our special day as less complicated, smooth and stress-free as feasibly possible, no hiccups, no mishaps, just a great time that was enjoyed by all that night!

Best choice we could've made!
Choosing Star Hill Ranch was easily the best choice we made when planning our wedding and we could not be any happier! Matt was incredible to work with and made us feel important and cared for from start to finish. We also hired Renee from SHR to coordinate our day-of, and she was amazing! The venue is so beautiful, has a lot of charming character, and has so many options for ceremony/reception/cocktail hour sites. We love the histories behind every building and the love & care that Matt & Adam put into making Star Hill Ranch such an incredible space! -

I feel really lucky that my husband and I found Star Hill Ranch and were able to have our wedding there. The owner is one of the nicest people I've ever met and we were actually a little sad when our big day came to an end because we knew we'd miss coming out to this beautiful place and seeing these great people.
Another great thing about this venue is that they only do one wedding a day, so the place is yours for the day. There's a crazy amount of options for where to have your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and they're all gorgeous. There's also plenty of space for the bridal party to get ready. My five bridesmaids and I, plus my mother and mother-in-law all got ready in the bride's house and there was plenty of room. We also hired Renee, their in-house coordinator, for our wedding and she was amazing.
I can't say enough nice things about this place, how beautiful and unique it is, and what great people are running it. -

Star Hill Ranch is an amazing venue. They made it SO easy with their preferred vendors. The location itself offers room for so much to do (games, longhorns for pics, Llamas, old Western gun fight, inside/outside options for ceremony as well as eating and dancing.)
I've been to several weddings and corporate events at Star Hill and it's been memorable every time.
Renee handled all the big and small details which gave us the time to focus on getting "hitched".
My husband and I wanted something unique as we had guests coming from all over the US and Canada. What was important to us was our guests have an experience they'd not had before and Star Hill Ranch is definitely the location. -

Matt and Renee made us feel like family! Star Hill Ranch gave our out of town guests an experience they will always cherish!
Our wedding felt like a movie thanks to the unique venue that is Star Hill Ranch. We had our own Western town for the day! Each building is air conditioned and serves its purpose. Brides have a little home to get ready in with a kitchen, bathroom and beautiful rooms for pictures when you get dressed. Our wedding started in the chapel where we served White Claws and watched our 160 pound Newfoundland dog walk down the aisle as our ring bearer. We had a personalized play list the DJ played for the ceremony that felt more like a party! For the cocktail hour we had beer donkeys serving our guests and regular bartenders as well. Guests could go inside an old saloon or hang outside by tables. Then the party moved to another main building for a dinner and speeches. After dinner the wedding party and guests moved to the dancing building where the DJ was set up. It’s the coolest experience being able to own your own town for the day/night with all of your closest family and friends! It’s a dream. I wish the night didn’t end, but we capped it off with late night breakfast tacos and a shuttle that dropped our guests off from the hotel down the street also picked them all up making it really convenient for people who were intoxicated and from other states. What really made the venue special was Matt and Renee. They paid attention to every detail and the day of the wedding Renee held down the fort and kept everything on schedule. She was great handling some rowdy guests as well. I would recommend Star Hill Ranch to my closest friends and hope our kids get married there one day! :) We will be back for anniversary pictures after COVID! Christina Carroll was our photographer and Kriha Films shot our video. -

Can we give Star Hill Ranch 10 stars?
If you’re considering Star Hill Ranch for your wedding or event, we strongly encourage you to take a tour. Our wedding day at Star Hill Ranch was simply magical. Not only did we feel that our day was better than we could have ever imagined, we have been told by many of our guests that it was hands down the best wedding they have EVER attended in their lives.
There is NOTHING we can think of that Star Hill Ranch did not do PERFECTLY. We knew we had found our venue within moments of stepping onto the property. Wow!!! With a whole picturesque town set on a spectacularly gorgeous property and multiple historical buildings, we had amazing options to choose from for every element of our day.
Our experience with owner Matt Woolley can only be described as the epitome of a customer service experience. He was warm, genuine, a fabulous listener, and was amazingly helpful, thorough, and responsive throughout the planning process. He gave us perfect advice and support, had an incredible array of available props and furniture, and offered everything at a very fair price. He even provided a comprehensive list of trusted area wedding vendors that saved us so much time and effort. By the time our wedding arrived, it felt as though Matt was not only a venue owner but a member of the family.
Matt was present on our wedding day from start to finish and made sure all was running smoothly; it was clear that he not only wanted our experience to be perfect, he was truly enjoying the day. Renee Woolley (our Star Hill wedding day coordinator) was professional, organized, responsive, did a wonderful job with our rehearsal, and provided calm and exceptional guidance along with Matt when we had to make some last minute changes due to chillier than normal weather.
We are eternally grateful to our wedding planner Jessica Ryan of 3 of Cups Events for strongly encouraging us to visit Star Hill Ranch. Best. Decision. Ever.

Wow! I cannot believe how great our wedding at Star Hill Ranch ended up being, even in the midst of a pandemic. I can't speak highly enough about Matt, Adam, and Renee. My husband and I feel lucky to be able to call these people our friends. Matt and Adam are brothers and the owners of Star Hill Ranch. Matt does most of the correspondence. He's sometimes slow answering emails (which I don't blame-- it's been a crazy year) but he would always answer a text, and probably his phone but I never personally called him. He's very thorough with the answers of the many questions I had about the spaces, the different items we could rent from SHR, questions about vendors, etc.. We met Adam when we were out at SHR, usually mowing the lawn or doing some of the always ongoing projects to upkeep and improve the facility. Renee is Matt's daughter and the optional on-site day of coordinator. We met with her a few months before the wedding to go through a thorough questionnaire about every detail of our wedding day. I was able to text her with questions I thought she would be equipped to answer with concerns like day of decor and details. She was also easy to get a hold of and answered my questions well. If anyone is doubting whether or not to hire Renee, just do it! I can't imagine how stressful the whole wedding day would have been without her. She was not only on top of every planned event during the ceremony and reception , but she also laid out our table decor and entrance table items. Another wonderful resource Matt provided us was a recommended vendor list. While we could have hired any vendor, we picked someone off Matt's extensive list for almost every vendor we used. These vendors were familiar with the venue, and were all fantastic. The only vendor that I hired that was not on his list was Coco's Cafe to provide bubble tea for us and our guests (but maybe he'll put them on there now ;) ). He did however help us hire the server for the bubble tea, and Renee made sure we had a table to serve it on and decorated it nicely. As Matt and Renee can both attest to, Andrew and I were a very easy going bride and groom. But it would have been much different if I wasn't confident in their judgment when it came to decoration (which they were kind enough to provide for us) and the layout of the reception/cocktail hour tables and ceremony chairs. We were also able to rent lawn games like corn hole and giant jenga, along with a large wooden dance floor, all of which we and our guests really enjoyed. So many of our guests asked us how we found Star Hill Ranch, and I was lucky enough to stumble upon it early when researching venues. Everyone commented on how unique and beautiful of a venue it is. There is so much beauty and thought put into the entire venue, both inside all of the historical buildings and outside on the main street. We truly appreciate everything that Matt and Renee (and Adam behind the scenes!) did for us leading up to and on our wedding day. And our relationship didn't end when our wedding did! As Matt will tell you, anyone who gets married at SHR will be a family member forever. I truly cannot speak highly enough about this venue and will forever remember our wedding day as perfect thanks to Matt and Renee. -

Amazing venue with 5 Star Staff
We were looking for a unique wedding venue within a semi-tight budget. We were recommended Star Hill Ranch by a friend that had attended a wedding there. We were blown away by the beautiful buildings, breathtaking hill country views, and overall rustic look of the venue. Matt and his staff treated us like family from day one and have so much experience with the wedding planning industry. Our family and friends are still raving about how fun and unique our wedding was. It was a day that will never be forgotten and we owe a large amount of gratitude to the team at Star Hill Ranch. -

If you choose Star Hill, you really are apart of a family
Where to even begin!
My now husband and I could not thank Matt and everyone at Star Hill Ranch enough for all of their time, effort, support and just general wonderfulness on the journey that was our wedding. I could go on and on about how thoughtful this crew is, how much we appreciated them fielding many different calls at different levels of panic during a pandemic, and overall what a fantastic job they did in delivering us a beautiful and safe day, but let me also mention the practicalities that they also aced.
If you're looking to have a ranch/rustic Texas style wedding, Star Hill Ranch is the best value for the Austin area with the coolest history as well. We toured a few different venues that were of similar aesthetic, and Star Hill was by far the best price. Also, thanks to the historical buildings that comprise the venue, Star Hill Ranch is completely unique in such a special way. This was a destination wedding for our guests, so we wanted to give them a unique Texas experience, as many of them had never been to the state before our wedding! To say that Star Hill was able to deliver on that would be an understatement.
What's also great about Star Hill Ranch is that it can accommodate practically any sized wedding. Pre-COVID, we were in track to have about 150 guests, which Star Hill could easily accommodate. When we paired down to about 65, I was at times worried that the venue would feel too big for our numbers, but my worries were completely unfounded. There are so many different spaces and configurations that you can do at this venue, you will always find a way to feel at home while you're there.
Speaking of flexibility, what is also such a perk of this venue is that unlike other places that have set spaces that dictate where you can have your ceremony or cocktail hour, etc, Star Hill Ranch gives your total freedom to make your day exactly that, YOUR day. Matt and Co do a fantastic job of allowing you the freedom to brainstorm while also making sure you're following fire code :)
What's also great is that Matt also owns his own rental company, which means that if there is any specific table, couch, or set piece that you are thinking of getting for your wedding, Matt most likely has it, and for a better price than you can find elsewhere. On top of that, the quality of his pieces are fantastic, with many of them being robust antiques that look fantastic.
Most importantly, Matt and Renee (our coordinator who we booked through Star Hill) were an incredible resource when it came to finding other vendors, and over all planning questions. We knew that if they gave them the okay, that we would be in safe hands. They also helped us brainstorm different parts of our wedding, and even are the reason that we hired Beer Burros (or beer donkeys) which, as you could imagine, were a huge hit.
They also were incredibly understanding and such a vital resource through all the changes planning a wedding during a pandemic proved to be. Always fair, always upfront, Star Hill Ranch will do what ever it takes to help you make your wedding dreams come true, even if those dreams have to look a little different due to circumstances.
We loved our experience at Star Hill and hope you will too!

Star Hill Ranch is a fabulous recreation of an old time Texas town. We loved the unique setting – the Schoolhouse, the Saloon, the sweet Chapel and the fact that we could have a reception – dinner and dancing – right on the main street of town! Communication with Matt was seamless and his years of expertise suggesting quality vendors was a huge win!
Enter COVID 19…..the staff at Star Hill helped us every step of the way to adapt to changing regulations. They were knowledgeable and flexible helping my son and daughter-in-law through a challenging lead up to their wedding day – even to the point of rescuing us when our hotel after party was canceled the day of.
I can’t say enough about the beauty of the setting and the wonderful photographic landscape of Star Hill Ranch. The only thing more impressive is the quality and caring of the staff. They made our day memorable in the best possible way!

Wonderful Place For A Wedding
My daughter got married at Star Hill Ranch this month and the overall experience was wonderful. I would recommend the venue to anyone and everyone. When my daughter asked me to plan her small wedding (about 50 people), I immediately thought of this venue. I had been there before. It was exactly what we needed and allowed me the flexibility to do much of the work myself without sticking to a list of certain vendors. Tables, chairs and the wedding arch were provided, and we were able to decorate the way we wanted (without putting nails in the walls). We used several buildings the day of the wedding. Our guests raved about the charm of Main Street and talked about how it gave such a nostalgic feeling to the event. But, we were still able to live stream the ceremony for the people who could not attend. My thanks to the owners Matt and Adam for maintaining such an amazing gem. -

Had my beautiful wedding here on October 5th. Renee and Matt are amazing and everything was perfect. A year ago we fell in love with Star Hill and it exceeded our expectations. Ladies I will leave a little advice for you..... Let Renee coordinate the day for you. I had this vision in my head of what I wanted it to look like and she took all my decor with some of hers and it was like she was in my head the whole time. It was perfect and took so much stress off of me. She also made sure that we staid on track and that I had food and drinks. I would recommend this place a million times over. We love you guys! ♥️ -

Couldn’t have asked for better!

Booking this venue was the greatest thing we did! The venue set up was amazing, the staff is incredible! Matt was so helpful from the time we booked to the very last minute of our special day. We booked Renee Woolley as our day of coordinator. She is AMAZING!!! She made sure we were hydrated during photos, kept us on track with the time line, and kept us calm through the whole day!! We absolutely loved every minute of our big day especially with this amazing family! -

From the very first conversation with Matt Woolley(co-owner of Star Hill Ranch) I knew that We had to have our daughter and fiancé Joey go and check out the venue! One thing Matt mentioned in one our initial conversations was even if you choose not use us as your venue if you have any questions concerning their wedding or need planning advice or just need questions answered don’t hesitate to reach out. Who does that? I worked with Matt for over a year on planning this wedding. He was helpful in every step of the way to make sure questions were answered and helped form the vision we had for the special day. Renee Woolley (is Matt’ daughter) was our wedding planner. She knows her stuff and is on the ball and will guide you through the steps and makes things flawless and even if things arise that poses as a problem they handle it flawlessly and no one ever knows. The property is absolutely beautiful with many options available to have the ceremony. It’s a magical and beautiful venue and I can’t express enough how wonderful the experience was and I would highly recommend Star Hill Ranch! We even navigated through COVID and vendors cancelled amongst other challenges but Renee and Matt helped make it perfect! Couldn’t be happier
Our wedding week was the best experience of our lives. And Matt at Star Hill Ranch helped us feel prepared and comfortable throughout the whole process leading up to that week so we could truly enjoy the experience.
First of all, the venue itself is amazing. A whole town to yourself! It is beautiful. Seriously beautiful. And so many options to personalize your wedding.
Secondly, Matt made us feel like family. He is so helpful and understands that wedding planning can be difficult. He responded quickly whenever we needed him and gave us advice or contacts to help us out. He is flexible and supportive. A great person to help you through this process.
The day of the wedding, Matt and Renee were both so helpful. Everything went smooth. Hiring Renee for our day-of coordinador was one of the best decisions we made. She executed our vision so thoughtfully and professionally, popping into the bridal house a few times to give updates, ask quick questions, and then leaving to handle the remaining set up. It made the process of getting ready stress-free, so we felt like we could really enjoy time with our friends and family. We also hired SHR to do our set up and break down, and they did SUCH an amazing job. It saves your family and friends from doing a bunch of labor on a day that should be about celebration.

We had a very Short notice Wedding and we were very worried that we would not fond a venue that we liked that would suit our budget. I came across Star Hill ranch and fell in love! It is such a gorgeous setting for a wedding. Elegant yet rustic and you can do indoor or outdoor weddings for large or small weddings. We were able to get a date and time a couple of weeks if not less after I called them to ask for availability. Mat who helped us was so friendly and just such a great guy really trying to make sure we got what we needed. They were very accommodating and definitely want to work with you to make this the best day ever. Whether you have a large wedding or a small ceremony they will help you either way. We were extremely happy with them and without them we would not have the amazing day that we had. -

Thank you, Star Hill!
Matt and the Star Hill team made our day very special. I have worked in events for many years and my one point of contention with vendors is communication. When it comes to something as special as someone's special day, it causes a lot of anxiety when they cannot communicate easily with their vendors. Matt was the most responsive vendor I have ever worked with. He never left us in the dark and answered every last question on every last detail. We were out of town and he made everything so easy! They offered plenty of preferred vendor options that made planning so easy!
Then came the weekend of our wedding and even though they had a very busy event week, they made us feel special and we were the priority on our day! After I arrived and did my walk through, I honestly just let go and let them handle it! They worked with all of my vendors to make it all come together easily. Such a relief for an event planner/bride to be able to do that!
The property itself is so unique and so beautiful! We were married in the historic chapel, had a private dinner together in the guest house, before our reception in the large reception hall.
We had a wonderful experience and love every detail and memory from that day! Our photos turned out amazing with so many options on the property. Thank you, Matt and Star Hill team. All of our out-of-town guests loved their Austin experience! -

Star Hill Ranch was the absolutely best place for us to get married. I am from Southern California and my wife is originally from Austin, Texas. She really wanted to get married in Texas at a place with that special Texas feel to it…. After visiting Star Hill Ranch we fell in love with it. It is such a unique facility where we were able to rent out the entire property for our special day. We had our guest do a scavenger hunt during the cocktail hour, so that they could explore the entire ranch.
We received so many positive comments from our guests on how amazing the facilities were and it made our wedding so special and unique. In addition to that Matt is a true professional and an amazing human being. He made sure we had everything we needed, has a great sense of humor, and is simply just a good person. We love Star Hill Ranch and you will too!!!

A beautiful wedding ~experience~ to create a lifetime of memories
There are so many amazing qualities about Star Hill that it’s hard to narrow it down in one review. From the moment we first took the tour of the property, we knew the Texas charm, country elegance, and unique qualities of this venue was perfect for our wedding. Matt (owner) was phenomenal from the beginning at helping us organize our thoughts with all the options available for buildings to use, props, decorations, etc to make it special and ours for our wedding day! The options are seriously endless with this place, and Matt has clearly had ample experience to know exactly what we as a couple were wanting down to every detail for the day. It’s truly an ~experience~ to use Star Hill as your wedding venue. Our guests talked about it for weeks afterwards, saying it was the most unique, fun, and just beautiful wedding they’ve ever been to. Being able to have the ceremony in the chapel, move guests to cocktail hour in the original Drug Store building, they loved watching us take our bridal pictures from the big porch, and then dancing the night away in the School House building, there was never a dull moment!! How rare it is to have a venue with so many options to make your day exactly how you have envisioned it (plus, the bang for your buck is incredible!). Matt has this “can-do” attitude that seriously, I doubt you will find from any other wedding venue. He makes sure everything you need before the big day is taken care of, whether its rainy-day backup plans, to little table decorations that you didn’t even know you needed! We hired his daughter Renee as the day-of coordinator, and while I was so busy being the bride, I know 100% for a fact the day wouldn’t have run as smoothly without her being behind the scenes at every step. I would recommend Star Hill to absolutely anyone!! PS- The gorgeous hill country backdrop and gorgeous old-school buildings make for AMAZING wedding photos!!!! Amazing wedding venue
Absolutely perfect! Our October wedding was everything we wanted an more. The weather through us for a loop but thankfully we had a rain plan. Which Matt and Adam so generously whipped up for me the day before. They left my mind at ease throughout the entire planning process. Matt was always readily available for any random questions I had in the planning process; tables, layout, caterers etc. on the day of I was blessed with Renee, day of coordinator. She helped take my vision and bring it to life. Except I didn’t have to lift a finger. She is calm, cool and collected. Definitely made the rain become an after thought on my wedding day. Me and the girls spent our day getting ready in the bridal suite which was a perfect touch and highlight that I absolutely recommend. It was spacious for me and my 7 bridesmaids and some family. Being able to get ready on site was really neat because we could take a walk and see the venue coming to life. I cannot express how AMAZING the ranch is in itself. There is so much to offer. So many layouts and options. Any wedding there can be so different. We were definitely able to utilize the space well and our guests were raving about how cool it was. The price was perfect. The service was top notch, the ranch is a dream and our wedding day was everything we could as for and more. Thank you so much Matt, Adam and Renee! We highly highly recommend. -

Love this venue
My now husband and I found this venue on google search and we fell in love with it just from seeing the photos and reading the description. We flew in from Los Angeles to check it out in person and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. Star Hill Ranch is such an awesome venue with unique atmosphere and fun structures throughout which can be used for different purposes. We used the bride’s cottage, the groom’s quarters, the reception hall for a band and dance, the Fitzhugh for dining, and of course the charming little chapel and our guests loved it all. What made the place even more special was its co-owner Matt who is very passionate about his work and helping people through what can be a very stressful process. We felt he was truly happy for us and wanted to help in any way possible. He was always extremely generous with his time and had a great, can-do attitude no matter what issues we threw at him. Our wedding turned out perfect and we couldn’t have done it without him. We married end of May last year and everybody is still talking about how epic our wedding was.

We had such an amazing wedding at Star Hill Ranch. Matt, who runs the place, was so helpful and made sure our day was perfect. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone out there looking. We had so many compliments on how the place was like a hallmark town and so picturesque. The pricing was also very affordable and it was so convenient that they rent out tables, chairs, dance floor, and everything else you typically have to get delivered. My husband and I got married at Star Hill two weeks ago and it was a magical experience. Not only are the grounds stunning and historical, but Matt and Renee Woolley are honest, salt-of-the-earth people that made our wedding so special. Matt accommodated our budget and worked with us to make sure we could still have a special experience without breaking the bank.
Renee's wedding coordinator services on the day of the wedding were invaluable. She managed everything for us so we didn't have to worry about anything.
Matt was extremely attentive for months, answering our many random questions with kindness and timeliness. Over the few months of planning, Matt truly became our family. I can't recommend Star Hill enough for a special, one-of-a-kind experience. -

We chose Star Hill Ranch because it fit our vision of a “fun but tasteful” wedding and because of how the owners cared for us.
The People: From our first visit, co-owner Matt helped make sure our wedding was perfect. He even was there on the day-of to coordinate with our planner and help make sure things went smoothly! In other words, my husband and I were treated as people, not just another client.
The Location: Star Hill Ranch is located in the beautiful Texas hill country, only 30 minutes west of downtown Austin. Whether you are a local or planning a destination wedding, Star Hill Ranch is far enough out to get away from city traffic but close enough for those who want to explore Austin. SHR is also conveniently located next to several different options for lodging and a small shopping area (for food and those last minute items!).
The Flexibility: Star Hill Ranch is a great venue for those who want/need flexibility when planning their wedding. The venue has multiple buildings on property, so it can accommodate weddings of all sizes. It also has indoor/outdoor options. Star Hill Ranch is not a full service venue: couples can contract any catering, floral, cake, etc. vendor to provide services for your big day! Many local vendors are familiar with the venue, which helps things to run smoothly. This DIY-style also offers couples flexibility in pricing.
BONUS: SHR has space for the wedding party to get ready on the day-of. Couples also have the option to spend their wedding night on property, in the cottage (Don’t worry about Matt’s clean-up crew—they are quiet and considerate!)

Vanessa Sent on 09/10/2018As a very type A person, if I know I am about to drop some serious cash, I make sure I know what I’m doing. I researched 30 locations across Texas and painstakingly created detailed spreadsheets of all the amenities, costs, and requirements for my future wedding/reception venue. We visited the 5 top locations based on price, amenities, friendliness of staff, and location. To say that I am detail-oriented planner is an understatement; so, when I say that Star Hill Ranch checked all the boxes, I mean ALL the boxes.
The location is beautiful and it is lovingly maintained with blooming flowers, outdoor spaces, and sun set backdrops fit for postcards. The space is set up to accommodate both indoor and outdoor weddings and receptions, which was a requirement for me, how unpredictable Texas weather can be. Case and point: I took 2 years to plan my outdoor wedding and reception. Guess what happened on the most important and likely most expensive day of our lives… why yes. Yes, it was spitting rain with temperatures hovering at 30 degrees in APRIL! Fun Fact: it was 80 degrees the day before! But no fear, Matt was able to turn on a dime and get us situated with the rain plan location immediately. In fact, throughout the entire process from touring the site to clean up, Matt was nothing but helpful, friendly, and responsive.
Speaking of Matt, he has become part of our circle of antique-appreciating friends and his passion for making the legacy of the past accessible for the curious shows in the curation of the vast amount of antiques onsite. We rented all of the essentials like wood tables and chairs and even nonessentials like his and her thrones (that’s right, 8 ft. thrones!) and antique film reels from them to create a truly immersive experience for our guests of being thrown back in time. Looking back, I am so grateful that we chose Star Hill; they made it so special to the most important people in our lives.

After meeting Matt and seeing the amazing venue, we called the other place and cancelled our viewing. Just the idea of working with Matt was so exciting and we were so overjoyed with how helpful & welcoming he was. We immediately felt like he was on our team and wanted what was best for us. Matt made the planning process so much easier; he responded immediately to my constant questions and gave us amazing advice that made the day so much more special. The venue was kind of the coolest place we had ever seen. We never thought we’d get married in an Old Texas town but it was absolutely magical.The multiple weather options in event spaces was so intriguing to us. I have to say, introducing us to Renee (the onsite day-of coordinator) was an absolute blessing. We didn’t have to worry about a thing and she really did bust her butt for us all day/night to make the event perfect. Matt and his team set everything up perfectly and really saved us any added stress of set-up and break down. The pricing was reasonable and I think we got the better end of the deal. Even 5 months later, our friends & family still talk about how great and unique the venue was. We would do it all over again if we could. We’re proud to be a part of the Star Hill Family.

We had our wedding here in October 2017 and from when we first booked until the day of the wedding they could not have been more helpful and accommodating to us to make sure everything went smooth and it was the wedding of our dreams. And the venue is hands down the most spectacular venue in Texas. We had guests from all over the country and they were in shock at how beautiful and how "Texas" this venue was. I urge you to just visit Matt and Adam at the venue and you will be sold immediately by their welcoming presence and the beauty of the venue as they give you a tour (which is like stepping into a museum of Texas).

From the beginning, Adam and Matt (owners) made us feel so welcome and were available to answer any and all questions right away. They made us feel so at ease as we moved along the wedding process, especially considering we were planning the wedding from another state, Illinois. Not only is this venue so beautiful and unique, the rentals they have available are just as amazing and fit well with the aesthetic and vintage vibe that we were looking for. As we began adding new ideas and expressing our vision, they were more than willing to accommodate and assist in making our dream a reality. Matt and his brother Adam went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, even including Matt helping to try and find open places for our rehearsal dinner because it was on Thanksgiving. Star Hill is such a beautiful venue and you have so much area (outdoor and indoor) to create the perfect wedding. I would recommend renting all that you can from Star Hill; Matt will ensure that everything is done right. The hospitality was amazing and the ambiance is something that you cannot miss out on. Looking back on our wedding day, there is no other place I would've rather been. It was gorgeous and perfect, thanks in large part to Matt Woolley. You will be so thankful and will have no regrets if you choose Star Hill Ranch.
