We loved worked with Stage One for our Oct. 2025 wedding at Woodlands Colorado! Darrell, Tara, and their family were so professional, fun, and helped make our day extra special. Admittedly, we procrastinated on picking our special dance/moment songs, but Darrell did not sweat it for one second. For our first dance, there were specific verses/choruses that we wanted to use and Darrell was able to cut the song to how we hoped for. He even made a special remix of “YMCA” and “Hot To Go” that we had talked about during our planning meeting.
We also used their photo booth and it was one of the highlights of our reception. Everyone had a blast taking photos!
The whole day came together beautifully and Darrell/Stage One was a huge part of that. He kept the party going until the very end and we can’t recommend him enough! -

Darell did an amazing job as our wedding DJ. He played great music, kept the energy up, and made sure the dance floor stayed full all night. He was easygoing, professional, and a pleasure to work with from start to finish, which made everything feel smooth and stress-free. You can tell he really cares about what he does and about giving people a great time. We’re so glad we had Darell and would happily recommend him to anyone looking for a fantastic DJ. -

Best wedding DJ ever!
This is THE BEST wedding DJ of all time! Our guests absolutely had a blast and we owe it all to Darrell! I'm not sure if he’s ever had so many wedding guests attempt to bribe him to keep playing past 10:00, but it's definitely a testament to how much they loved the music! Darrell did a great job of maintaining the flow of events throughout the evening. He kept up the energy while also keeping us organized and making sure guests knew what was happening. We appreciated him checking in with us throughout the evening. It was truly the most fun we've ever had dancing at a wedding, and although our knees are still trying to recover from 3 straight hours on the dance floor, we would absolutely do it all again! We will recommend Darrell to all of our friends, and might even try to crash any future weddings where he will be the DJ! -

We loved working with Darrell and Tara! We had a no-fuss mountain wedding and wanted a DJ that would provide a good time but wouldn't upcharge for a bunch of unnecessary things like fancy lighting. Despite being the most affordable DJs we found, Darrell was everything we were looking for and very talented. The planning meetings were really helpful, and it was clear that Darrell understood the type of vibe we were going for. The planning tools Stage One provides were very helpful, especially since we didn't have a wedding planner or day-of coordinator. We definitely felt confident going into the day that Darrell would have everything covered, even with our outdoor venue and reception space in the mountains. Darrell's experience clearly showed as he followed the energy of the crowd throughout the night, and he was able to adjust as he went to keep people dancing. Darrell also went above and beyond in cutting/splicing the songs we used in our ceremony and reception to make sure we got the most important lyrics played without having the songs drag on longer than was needed. Stage One provides an incredible value for their services, and we would highly recommend them for any event! -

A skeptical person might see these reviews and say "all 5 stars, that's fishy..." but I can assure you, after working with Darrell and Tara every single star is well earned! These guys are amazing, not only at the actual execution of their service, but at all the planning and communication leading up to the event. They communicated well and quickly, asked pertinent questions that come from years of experience to ensure that your wedding is exactly how you imagined it. I can't rave about them enough and this review could go on and on, but I will leave you with one little anecdote that shows their quality. First of, Darrell crushed it as an MC during the ceremony and through the dinner portion of the reception. Then later on as a DJ, he took a moment to remind the crowd (many of whom are not from Colorado and are not used to the altitude) that alcohol has a more dramatic effect in the mountains/at altitude and that everyone should be drinking more water to help balance the effects. I was just so impressed that he took the time to remind people of that and I am sure many of our guests were grateful for the reminder the next morning.
Thank you so much, Darrell and Tara, you guys made such a huge, positive difference at our wedding. I don't think it would have been nearly as successful as it was without you. I hope I've done you justice with this review and I will certainly be recommending you via word-of-mouth to our friends when they decide to tie the knot. -

Seriously... look no further if you're looking for a DJ for your wedding. Sadly for you,, they might be booked already because they are THAT amazing. I found them by word-of-mouth & I think that's mainly how they get their bookings. Darrell not only knocked the music out of the park, he came up to us multiple times checking in on things & giving us updates on time which was super appreciated & he exceeded our expectations! I can't say enough about him & his team. Also... spend the money on the photo booth! It's worth every cent. It was a huge hit & also exceeded our expectations. -

10/10 would recommend Stage One! Darrell and Tara were so amazing to work with! Coordinating with them was great and they work with you to create everything you want. Darrell has been DJing a long time and knows what he's doing. He immensely helped things move along smoothly. His set up is awesome and so professional and he is fun and lively! Would definitely book them again! -

Best DJ, at any wedding EVER
Stage One Events is THE BEST. Book'em ... that's all you need to know!! But seriously, Darrell and Tara are completely on top of planning (even for an ultra- planner like myself), and they execute flawlessly the day of the event. On top of that, they are super fun, outgoing, and bring an energy that will keep the fun (and dancing) going all night long. Going above and beyond, they supplied fantastic lighting and even wood-worked initials to incorporate into our decorations. This team is more than just "a wedding-day vendor", they're practically like family, and I can't think of anyone better to have be a part of an incredibly special day -

Darrell and Tara were one of the best things we ever planned for our wedding! Darrell’s confidence and high energy is everything you want in a DJ for your wedding day. He knows how to keep the party going and he’s amazing at working the crowd! Stage One was the very first thing we booked for our wedding and we could not have made a better decision! Their planning templates and expert advice made planning a breeze! Darrell played a big part in ensuring our schedule ran smoothly and he was a big part of organizing our entire wedding day. We had over 100 people at our wedding and I know each and every one of them had an amazing time just because of Darrell!! I would highly recommend to anyone planning and event or a wedding!! -

Andrea Sent on 08/19/2016Darrell is just AMAZING! It is going to be tough to articulate just how much my husband and I love Darrell! From day one he was upbeat and super friendly. While we only met a couple of times in person, Darrell and his wife, Tara, always replied to our many emails and kept in constant contact with us. Darrell was very professional and organized! He is basically a GOD at his job! You can tell he truly loves what he does and he does great work!! He helped us create our wedding day timeline and then followed through on the day!! I had guests comment about never attending a wedding that actually started on time; ours did because of Darrell! He was basically our “day of” wedding coordinator! Our reception was truly the best and it is because of him! He read the crowd and played music everyone enjoyed. He made our whole day just absolutely amazing and we couldn’t have chosen a better DJ!! We’ve considered throwing another party, just so we can hire Darrell again!! We highly recommend him to anyone and everyone looking for a DJ; if we could rate him 10 stars out of 5 it would happen!! If you don't hire Darrell, you're truly missing out!!

Darrell is the nicest, kindest, funniest guy - he was our very favorite vendor!! Super helpful the day of the wedding. We did have a couple technical glitches - a song played twice and we had the music go out once. That was fixed in a minute or two. We were having the time of our lives though so we didn’t really care! Super affordable too and lots of fun. -

We greatly enjoyed working with Darryl and Tara. Darryl is always prepared and had a backup sound system for us when the venue sound system wasn’t working. He helped create a mashup for the father-daughter dance with a scratching sound in the middle like it was a mistake. We fooled everyone! My only regret was not getting my brothers reaction on camera! -

We were blown away by our experience with Darrell. He was so much more than just the guy who played the music - he helped keep things moving along from the very beginning of our ceremony to when the lights came on after the reception. I never once worried about when/how things were going to happen throughout the night because Darrell was on top of it. The dance floor was packed all night long and so many guests commented on how great the DJ was - thank you Darrell!! -

Darrell & Tara were overall very kind people, highly experienced at what they do, a pleasure to work with & offer their services at an incredible price. Darrell was flexible with the direction of the evening & catered to the group, reading the room - folks who wanted to dance had a great time dancing. The only things that I could say we didn't love was that (1) there were that there was a moment or two where there was silence in between songs and there was no one attending the DJ booth at the moment, so Darrell had to run back to get the next song going, and (2) generally it took a while to hear back via to emails in the planning stages. Luckily, we booked them far out so that wasn't an necessarily an 'issue', but it's just something to be aware of. Also, if you're looking to hire them as your DJ, you should ABSOLUTELY rent out their photo booth - the whole setup & available props were one of the best at any of the (many) weddings I've been to!
