Amazing!!!

We used Spice of Life for catering for our wedding last weekend and we could not recommend them enough! All of our family is Polish so, when it comes to food, their standards are very high. Spice of Life exceeded all of their expectations! Everything from the hors d'oeuvres, to the sides, to the main entree, to the late-night snack was absolutely delicious! The portions were generous and the rates were very competitive. The hardest part was picking what we wanted to serve at our wedding as everything we tried was amazing. Jessica and Kimberly were such a pleasure to work with. They were very responsive and accomodating throughout the entire planning process. Spice of Life was the best caterer we could have chosen!

Delicious & Different!

I am so pleased with my experience with Spice of Life catering. They were responsive from the very start. They provided multiple quotes and options while we were still deciding. From the day I got engaged, I knew I wanted chicken tenders because let's be honest, who doesn't love that?? All of our guests had told us how amazing the food was. Spice of Life offered SOO MANY options!! We were able to customize the menu to fit what we wanted. We did it buffet style, so guests were able to choose between various items. I was honestly surprised by how many choices we had!! It was NOT your basic wedding food. It was food I would voluntarily eat again and not just at an event. They were also the ONLY caterer I spoke to that told me our venue allowed us to provide our of alcohol!! This was a HUGE money saver. Spice of Life provided awesome TABC bartenders to work the event. All the staff I interacted with were great. I specifically remember seeing the staff walking around and smiling while clearing plates. It really gave the event a positive vibe. Additionally, Spice of Life was easy to work with when it came to gluten free, vegetarian, and other allergy needs. Almost three months after our wedding, and our friends and family are still telling us how much they loved the food!

Jessica and staff were AMAZING.....

Jessica and her staff made sure that our wedding was absolutely perfect… From the Butler served hors d’oeuvres to the sit down dinner everything was perfect…
Jessica was there every second making sure everything we needed or wanted was made available to us… All of her staff members were so polite and ready to help with any request we had including helping us load up our vehicles at the end of the night. I highly recommend Spice of Life Catering for your event... the food was absolutely outstanding and we had so many compliments on the hors d’oeuvres and the meal.... The bananas Foster station put us over the top.

Best service, food and price

After shopping around for caterers for quite some time, I found Spice of Life and am so happy I did! Not only did they provide the best menu, but they’re pricing was unbeatable. We used them for both our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. The food was delicious (we received many compliments!) and the service was EXCEPTIONAL! I highly recommend!

Personalized menu & great food!

We wanted a cocktail party reception with heavy hors’dourves for about 50 guests. Serving good food was important to us as we are “foodies” as are most of our friends. Several places gave us really crazy prices or charged by the piece, but Jessica created an amazing international menu for us at a reasonable price. She really worked with us to create an evening that fit us perfectly.

The food was phenomenal and our guests (who can be picky about quality) raved about it! The staff was attentive, friendly and quick to replenish food. They packed us to-go boxes to take to the hotel when we left and also sent home extra food with the wedding party.

Besides the food, we also hired their bartender (who was great!) and provided our own alcohol. They also provided our linens and cut/served our cake.

Everything surpassed our expectations and I can’t recommend them enough!

We used Spice of Life to cater my daughter's wedding. The food was delicious and they worked to put together a menu that included vegetarian options for the bride. We had so many people compliment us on the food. The charcuterie table served during the cocktail hour was gorgeous! Jessica also worked with us on the bar selections, providing nicer wines at a great price. SoL also provided the tables, chairs and linens for the event, moving chairs from the ceremony to the reception area during the cocktail hour and moving out tables once dinner was over to enlarge the dance floor. The SoL service team were professional and accommodating. I highly recommend this company! A good time was had by all!

Absolutely PERFECT in every way! You know it's good when people from the wedding reception ask who catered the food. We had over 200 people and they worked so hard to make it flawless. From the initial phone call to the final affair I couldn't have gotten better service or a more fun menu.

This team was a joy to work with. They were kind and professional during the initial tasting, and responsive to every email and question that came up. The food was delicious and came out warm, even though it was a chilly night in San Antonio. We did a buffet style event with chicken, au gratin potatoes, veggies, and a beef carving station, and the potatoes and chicken were all amazing! Cooked perfectly. The service during the reception was great and as the newlywed couple, we had our own wine that they opened and refilled consistently. I did not hear any complaints from our guests about the service or food. They provided a bar tender and were open to us providing our own alcohol.

From getting started in planning my wedding, suggesting vendors, and helping me come up with a menu to satisfy multiple cultures - Spice of Life has been the absolute best. Jessica helped me find vendors, talked to us at great length to figure out how to have a multi-cultural menu on a budget with the many specifications we had, and on the day of provided excellent service overall. They even dealt with a near-disastrous situation with another vendor - and I never even knew. All I keep hearing about now is how the food at our wedding was SO DELICIOUS and unique, and how the bar service was unparalleled.

Spice of Life did the catering at my wedding and all of my guests gave wonderful feedback. We set up stations and each station was a different type of cuisine. We served chicken tips with a marsala sauce and spinach risotto, chinese style chicken stir fry, Indian samosas, and my favorite the southwestern style sopes! Not to mention, they also prepared to-die-for caprese salads and a wonderful parmesan dip with veggie chips. There was literally something for everybody! My guests LOVED all the different options and everything was SO DELICIOUS! People were raving for days about which station was their favorite. Everybody had a different favorite which means our eclectic collaboration of cuisines worked out perfectly! This is a testament to how talented Chef Bomberg and his staff is! His world travels and experience speak for themselves in the quality of catering you receive! His food will have you and your guests craving seconds and thirds! My family was begging for me to share the leftovers from the wedding. I didn't want to!

Spice of Life did a great job. I had a hard time with other catering businesses getting the idea of what I wanted for a menu and Spice of Life understood at the first meeting and presented great options that made it difficult to decide for only 1 entree.
They by far the most responsible and professional vendor I had in my wedding plus all guests said there the food was great, the staff was on top of everything and there was more than enough food.

The buffet Spice of Life Catering provided for our wedding was exceptional! The food was just as delicious as it was at our tasting. The servers were very prompt and professional, all with warmth and smiles on their faces. I highly recommend Spice of Life Catering for any special event!

Excellent caterer. My wife is from South Korea as I am from the US, so we both wanted an Asian-flare to our reception dinner. Spice of Life did an amazing job setting up food stations providing a professional, 5-star service as well as quality of food. They are great communicators as well as being prompt in setting up. They also provided a certified bartender, tables, linens, chairs, utensils and goblets. They did an amazing job!

My husband and I wanted the not so traditional food at our wedding, and Spice of Life is the only catering service in San Antonio who is willing to go that extra mile for their clients!! We wanted a Filipino themed menu from Lumpia to Pancit to even a Lechon....Spice of Life delivered it all!!! I was surprised on how close they were to making each dish fairly authentic. Their presentation for the buffet line and the Lechon were spot on! We highly recommend Spice of Life Catering if you want something different at your wedding because Chef Mike is an amazingly talented chef and Jessica is such a wonderful person to work with!!!

We were super happy with the catering service from spice of life. Chef Mike, Jessica, and Carmen were GREAT to work with! They were super helpful, patient, and flexible throughout our wedding planning process. Jessica responded to my messages right away--often within minutes! Jessica was wonderful at our tasting and returned my phone calls promptly. The food was phenomenal. My guests did not stop raving about the mashed potatoes, Greek salad, and chicken piccata. Our servers, Holly, Ellie and Dennis, were very professional and courteous. They even saved us a plate from the cocktail hour we missed due to pictures. They went above and beyond their duties. I could not be happier. My event was a success due to them.

Spice of Life was such a wonderful and accommodating vendor, I dont know what we would have done without them. Their expertise and flexibility allowed us to have a unique menu of Action Stations, and to this day their sweet potato fries are the best I've ever eaten! Their staff went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I had a taste of everything! They even brought me appetizers and wine while I was touching up my makeup before the reception. Just wonderful people and they are small enough to provide unbelievable service. And talk about value, they came in exactly at our budget and their food is simply delicious.

Do yourself a favor and order the Shrimp & Grits for appetizers, your guests will be raving!

Spice of Life was amazing to work with. Jessica was absolutely wonderful. I must have called and emailed her a hundred times and changed my menu 10 times and she never once made me feel bad about it. It almost felt like she was a friend of mine! She worked within my budget and all the food we got would have cost twice as much at any other caterer (I priced them all!) The day of the wedding her staff was amazing. Very professional and so attentive to me. They made sure I sat down and ate even made me plates throughout the night. I was actually sad when our wedding was over because I was going to miss working with them. I highly recommend Jessica and her staff.

Chef Mike, Jessica and the whole staff was absolutely wonderful! The food was amazing, everyone commented on how good it was and how different the presentation was! Chef Mike even customized the chicken. This was for a sweet 16 Hollywood style and Chef Mike really helped the theme come through. He even did Cherries Jubilee and Banannas Foster in the middle of the dance floor. my next big event will definately be catered by this extraordinary caterer!!!

There food was amazing and there was plenty of food. NO one at the wedding left hungry. I received many complements of the type of food and variety of food. I have been to many weddings done in hotels where you only have the standard chicken or beef...boring. We had fish tacos, jambalaya, brisket, ect... We even had godiva milkshakes instead of grooms cake. The chef was great. Jessica was great to work with and she never gave up on me even when I could not make up my mind on apps. There staff was great and professional!!
Fantastic place, I highly recommend them. They will do a taste testing that will leave you so full. You get to sample just about everything.

Jessica and Michael were so cooperative, innovative, professional and fun to work with. Any time I called with questions or changes Jessica returned my call promptly and with enthusiasm and ideas. No issue was ever out of the question or without a solution. They were out first vendor booked and even when we changed venues we were not going to go with out Spice o Life. The day of the event she arrived on time and followed through with all that we had planned and extra. I felt totally at ease and was confident that I had nothing to be concerned about with our caterer even though our wedding site was not centrally located. I would give her my highest recommendation and would work with her again on any event.

The service provided by Spice of Life was out of this world. It beyond exceeded our expectations. Mauricio, Jessica and Chef Mike made my wife's and I day even more memorable by doing a fantastic setup and exceptional food. Jessica accommodated any last minute requests we had and changes without any problems. They are very flexible and the best in the business in both quality and prices. I would highly recommend them to anyone with any event they need catered.

From the very beginning, Spice of Life (Jessica & Chef Bomberg) were very accommodating and professional. I have been told I was a "Momzilla" during the process of planning our daughter’s wedding; however, I tend to disagree and call it being very particular about receiving excellent service. And Spice of Life was top notch, from assisting with placing us with other professional vendors (lighting, rental of tablecloths/chairs) and planning the menu for our event. The wedding went off perfectly due to the staff arriving on time, placement of tables/chairs as specified, the turn over after the wedding ceremony to cocktail hour and dinner was superior. Our friends and family are still talking about the flambe’ station and coffee bar! Also, I would to add the staff before/during/after the ceremony were great! Jessica and Chef Mike went over and beyond for us! Spice of Life is really top notch. They REALLY listened to how we envisioned our dinner service to be and they really overdelivered. We couldn't be happier with their service. The chicken rouillade with tomato and vodka cream sauce, the braised short rib and the pepper medley cous cous were just phenomenal! Spice of Life was the best vendor I worked with for my wedding. They were amazing at meeting all of my needs. The food was amazing and everyone enjoyed it. The linens made such a great impact on the reception. They looked so classy. Everytime I emailed them I got a quick response. I would highly recommend Spice of Life to anyone getting married. Best decision I ever made was having Spice of Life cater my daughter's wedding reception for 195 guests! Very professional, easy to work with, and patient with the bride & me! Spice of Life catered my wedding and they were absolutely fabulous. Although I did not get a chance to eat any of the food, the guests were raving about it. The set up of the food was beautiful and creative, setting up stations for the different types of food. After the cake cutting, Spice of Life brought out milkshakes, some alcoholic and some non alcoholic and they were amazing! People could not stop talking about those. We also hired Spice of Life to do our bar. My dad wanted all glass glasses and Spice of Life was the only caterer who said they could make that happen. We did not order martini glasses but at one point in the night I saw a friend drinking a cosmo out of a martini glass. I thought to myself WOW we got everything we asked for AND MORE. It was perfect. I couldn't have asked for anything more from them.

My fiance and I were planning our wedding and wanted to incorporate both of our cultures in the menu. I am Hispanic and he is Indian so we weren't quite sure if this idea would work out. I found Spice of Life online and contacted them about creating a unique menu that would appeal to all tastes. They were really excited about this challenge and created a beautiful menu that truly reflected both our cultures. We were soon invited in for a tasting and it was immediately clear that we were going to book them for our event. They even made mango margaritas as our signature drink! The staff was so prompt and professional. Our guests raved about the food all night long! Thanks Chef Mike and Jessica for helping make our special day a success!

Spice of Life was an amazing catering service. They let us come in and taste all food before making a selection which was so much fun! After we had made all of our selections, I never had to do anything else. They took care of EVERY detail which allowed me to have a stress free time at my daughter's wedding. Jessica was very detail oriented and on top of everything, Chef was amazing...the food was above anything I ever imagined, and the wait staff did not miss a beat. I loved working with them, I could call them 5 times a week or day and they would give me the answers or help. I even called them and said I need a cake stand and they were able to locate it for me and bring it to reception hall.

We had a wonderful experience with Spice of Life. From the very beginning of our experience with them (which was a year and a half before the wedding), Chef Mike was very receptive to my needs and really worked to create the menu I wanted for the wedding. In the last several months before the wedding, Jessica, the coordinator, and I spoke probably twice a week ironing out the kinks before the big day. She was SO helpful and was ALWAYS available for me when I needed her. On the day of the wedding, the wait staff was better than any wait staff I have ever come across. I never had to wait or find anyone to get a drink. Before my drink was 3/4ths of the way done, I was brought another drink. The service was incredible and it made for a very smooth and fluent wedding reception. There are no words to describe my gratitude to Spice of Life for making our special day so memorable and fun for everyone who attended. Thank you!!!

Spice of Life was the best decision we made for our wedding! After meeting with several caterers, we began to get frustrated because no one understood what we really wanted. Then we met Jessica with Spice of Life, and I barely started to explain what we wanted, and she was finishing my sentences with exactly what I was thinking! I was so happy that she knew what we wanted I didn't even care what the food tasted like. But we were even more blessed with how amazing the food was! We had a variety of foods at our wedding, and everything was delicious! If I could rate the value for the cost a higher score than 5, I would give it a 10 because the food was amazing and very affordable! On top of the food being amazing, the people were wonderful as well! Everyone was so nice and so helpful and they really cared about us as a couple and our happiness with their services. I would definitely encourage you to use Spice of Life as your caterer! They are wonderful!!!

The staff at Spice of Life was extremely friendly and accomodating throughout my full experience with them. Spice of Life is fantastic!!! I did several tastings when I was trying to decide on a caterer for my wedding, and Spice of Life was the clear winner by far!! I didn't want the expected wedding meal so I contacted Spice of Life to see what they had to offer along the lines of what I was wanting to serve to my guests. They quickly responded with a mock menu to see if it was what I had in mind. It was so fantastic I responded to set up a tasting and decided to book them. They accomodated all the requests we made of them and came through for us. Awesome food and service! From answering all my questions about details, to setting up the catering at our wedding reception, to the very end of the party with clean up, Spice of Life was professional and extremely helpful. The servers at our reception were friendly and willing to change up the plan a bit right in the moment. And the food was divine! They provided me with a dairy free meal that was completely different from the one served to our guests and accommodated our vegan guests as well. I'm still getting compliments from our guests about the food, a week later! We also used their bartenders, who were outgoing and kept the party going. Spice of Life was a HUGE hit for our wedding reception! Thank you!

We loved loved Spice of Life's food! We chose the pecan chicken (my husband doesn't even like pecans and loved it) but also one of our favorites at the tasting was the jalapeño cream cheese chicken. I received so many compliments from guests about the food. We did a buffet style and I think it was beneficial to be at their home base (The Veranda). The only critique I really have is that we didn't really see a lot of appetizers being served, my husband didn't get a single one and didn't even know they had been passed out. With that being said - we had chosen the chicken diablo and mushrooms appetizers and they are amazing. We truly loved our dinner, it was incredible and affordable.

My husband and I hosted a holiday party for about 60 executive officers and their spouses from his bank. The Veranda was one of our favorite venues and we highly recommend it. The grounds were decorated beautifully, the service was friendly & accommodating, and the food was outstanding.

Spice of Life catering gave us a good deal on heavy h'or dourves and 2 action stations for 110 people to include the cake cutting and serving. The servers showed up and looked very professional. There may have been some miscommunication about the presentation of one of my tables back at the office when I ordered their services, but the servers got right on it and made it look exactly how I wanted it. The servers were very professional, friendly, and made sure to check in with me before they left for the evening. The only bad thing was, one of the servers showed up with two very apparent black eyes, even though he tried to hide it with glasses. I didn't think that was very professional, but otherwise, everything was great. We received many compliments on the food. They were very accommodating, allowing us to provide our own appetizers in additional to their food. Most other companies would not allow that. Also, I decided at the last minute to use a caterer, and they were able to fit us in and treated us with the utmost professionalism, as if we had booked them months in advance.

Guests Raved about our Food

We used Spice of Life on site at The Veranda. Jessica is a miracle worker and completely invested in making a perfect menu for your big day. Great, but not our fit!

When first hearing about the Spice of life catering I was excited. They were very professional, knowledgeable and were able to change my quote quickly as my venue and guest count changed. Unfortunately, they were not the perfect fit for my fiance and I but they will make many couples happy.

This caterer came through for us at the last minute with chairs that we could afford! I enjoyed all the food, but the salmon with salsa was not quite what I thought it would be like. The hors d'oeuvres setup was lovely, the salad was delicious, and the servers were top notch. The chair covers were beautiful. The only thing that was quite odd was that they didn't cut most of the wedding cake, and the pieces were really thin. We had to take a lot of the cake back to our hotel and eat it there.

From the very start this place was nice to work with. I'm in the culinary industry and can be kinda picky and controlling to work with when it comes to catering. They always answered all my questions....sometimes more than once and let me customize some of the menu. The food was amazing! The attendants were so nice and went out of their way to make everyone feel taken care of..including opening and closing the door for my guests. I would absolutely use them in the future! hint...go with the fried quail!

All of the guests enjoyed the food at our event and said that everything was good. I did have to ask for certain things to be brought out and we ran out of fruit even though we had less guests then our final count submitted.

We really loved Spice of Life but we had a lot of mishaps on our actual wedding day with timing and certain decisions made my the staff that they did not really run through us, which gave us quite a bit of stress on our wedding day/ The food was great, they are really presentable and lovely, but they really rushed our dinner and even took many of our guest's plates before they were done eating! I would recommend that if you go with them, you make sure to meet with the person running things they day of your wedding so that nothing like this happens!

The company seemed to be very accommodating. One of the things that was kind of upsetting is that we were told that the Bride and Groom would get food served to them. We did not get food until after people had already gone to the buffet. Also, we did not get any of the appetizers that we wanted. Only a small selection of what was being served minus 2 different items. Then to top it off, we had estimated a lot more guest for cushion. We did not go home with much food so I feel like we kind of got the short end of the straw. Also, neither the bride or groom received champagne to toast. A lot of guest did not get it in time, but come on, at least the bride and groom should have something to toast with....

Some strengths of Spice of Life is that the food was good - received a lot of compliments there. We had fun with our tastings, and they were creative with us as we worked on our menu which was not your typical wedding fare. Responses to emails were quick.

Some things that could be improved for the next customer - my wedding coordinator had to bring cookies from a different vendor and homemade pies to the venue since the caterer wouldn’t (seems they didn’t want to be held liable for damages, but said it was because other events made it difficult for them to accommodate) - heads up if this is something you might run into. During my reception, we ran out of coffee and they were unable to make more- didn’t realize running out of coffee was an option so be sure you ask for more than enough to cover all of your guests. Lastly, there was a mixup with my leftovers - some went missing, those that could be found had to be picked up the next day. My suggestion would be to be sure it’s written somewhere that you are to go home with all leftovers and double check that’s the case before leaving your venue if this is important to you.

We had a lot of ups and downs It started with the fact that they thought we were getting to much food for 80 people we wanted lots of option The number fell so In compensation we got a free toast serving with champagne & an alternative Over the phone they were great but on the day we were greeted by a different person than who was supposed to be handling our wedding Only after we called After the wedding were we tokd thay the lady In charge of our wedding had done 7 days of caters in a row and was offered a day off a phone call would of been nice. The food was perfect we can't praise it enough. We only wish they didn't only serve it for 40minutes (buffet) We understand that because of the change of who was In charge that they may not of known our timeline but by the time our first dance started everything was packed & disappeared. Yes the stations would of gone but not even a table of vegetables & fruit were left for our guests The bartender was great she was professional & our guests complimented on how nice she was. Then an issue with a memeber of staff who was standing in a corner by the stage watching everyone dancing for most of the evening, some of our guests also noticed & mentioned it to us, it was very unprofessional. We expected a lot more as they were the MOST expensive thing that we paid for. We also only got a tray of vegetables and a tray of pasta as leftovers which was nothing compared to how much there was and weren't we supposed to have took much for 80 anyway? They were very polite to us and our guests but overall we definitely feel let down. We've been offered a free meal of food from our wedding But at the end of the day it was Our wedding dayWhy should we of had to settle for anything less than what they promised? If you want amazing food and quick responsiveness then they're great but for the money we spent we didn't get professional catering or handling of our wedding

I went with spice of life because of the good reviews I read about them..They pulled through in the end with a lovely presentation and tasty meal. My concerns were that they were slow in responding to me when I had questions or concerns..Also..I paid extra for a signature drink to be served for 5 hours and it was only served for 1 hour because they ran out of pineapple juice !!! Also...my maid of honor stated that she was getting complaints about the two young woman who were running the bar being rude...last...when the catering crew came they were clueless...I kept getting interrupted while trying to get hair and makeup done over set up issues that I had already explained to the caterer...Last...they seemed understaffed at the event ..an entire table ate their whole meal without ever getting there tea! Also....the cake cutting was so slow that people starting getting in line to get a piece of cake...overall ok..but could have been better!

My wedding reception was embarrassing. The caterers showed up late, the food was served tepid in temperature and the table that the food was served on was not "fluffed" as promised. The dishes were served next to each other without any attempt to make it look nice. If we had not chilled the beer and wine the night before, even the beverages would have been off temperature. The staff person responsible for running the reception made off color remarks to my female guests! When I complained about what had happened, Jessica just brushed it off like nothing wrong occurred. Many of my friends and family traveled over 400 miles to get to our wedding and I felt embarrassed and very very disappointed. They talk up their food and service, but they do NOT deliver. I would not recommend them for anything.

Had a recent wedding with a very bad experience. The food is small portions and not of great quality for the price. I suspect they used frozen meals. I recommend that you have a tasting of the meals beforehand.
