My husband and I cannot thank Toshi and his team at Spectrum Entertainment enough for making our wedding day an absolute blast! From the moment we booked him, we knew we were in good hands, but he truly exceeded all expectations. He was very accommodating with our schedule and was very easy to work with.
Toshi's music selection was stellar and really aligned with our taste! A bit of everything: r&b, hip/hop, rap but also mixing in some Hawaiian flavor & a nod to the 80s for older folks. He seemed to have an innate sense of exactly what our guests wanted to hear, keeping the dance floor packed all night long. His ability to seamlessly blend different genres and eras was nothing short of impressive, ensuring that there was something for everyone to enjoy.
What really stood out to us was Toshi's attention to detail and his genuine passion for his craft. He took the time to meet with us beforehand to understand our musical preferences and vision for the day, and he executed it flawlessly. His professionalism and enthusiasm were evident throughout the entire process, from planning to execution.
Not only did Toshi keep the party going, but he also acted as an incredible emcee, keeping the timeline on track and making sure everything ran smoothly. His energy and charisma were infectious, and he helped create an atmosphere filled with love, laughter, and non-stop dancing.
Our guests are still raving about the music and how much fun they had, and we have Toshi to thank for that. He played a significant role in making our wedding day so memorable and special, and we are forever grateful.
If you're looking for a DJ/Emcee who will go above and beyond to make your event unforgettable, look no further than Toshi and the team at Spectrum Entertainment. We cannot recommend him highly enough!

Toshi and his team hands down MADE our wedding reception! We had multiple changes due to Covid (venue and guest count to name a few) but Toshi was so understanding and flexible through everything - even the last minute changes. He was our DJ/MC and took care of our uplighting, audio for our live entertainment during cocktail hour, and ran a video on a projector at the start of dinner. He was very attentive and professional in our conversations leading up - making sure the timeline and song choices would be in line with our vision. We trusted him fully to execute the evening and it went better than we imagined. His MC style is a perfect mix of laid-back and energizing and he has a great ability to read the energy and keep the flow of the night moving (and on time) without feeling rushed. Same for his DJ style - he kept the dance floor full all night with everyone from our friends, to parents, to the kids. We heard from so many guests how much fun they had dancing and had multiple friends ask for his info for their future weddings. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Toshi and truly feel that we owe how much fun and little stress we were able to have at our wedding reception to him. Thank you Toshi and Spectrum Entertainment! -

Who's THE BEST? Toshi!! We worked with Toshi for a few years, considering our wedding was initially planned for 2020, and then COVID happened. By the time our wedding was finally replanned for (the last time), we were all prepped and ready to go, many thanks due to Toshi!
We had a Zoom chat with him 2 weeks before our wedding in late summer 2021 where we hammered out all the final details, and Toshi was extremely accommodating to work with. Very professional and fun at the same time! He made our wedding reception at the Four Seasons such a success, with all of the music we love, and kept everything on schedule.
We had added headaches due to group size restrictions (thank you, COVID), and Toshi did his best to respectfully and tactfully keep the numbers of intermingling guests at bay, which is very difficult when your guests are 5 mai tais deep, lol. We also had a couple of last minute, unforeseen changes occur in the midst of our reception, and Toshi handled those like a pro. He and his team worked like crazy the entire night, but he made it look effortless.
After the reception was in the books, he told us to come visit him when we return to Oahu for beers. We really felt like long lost friends after working with him, and will definitely hit him up when we come back! -

Toshi was great from the get-go. We were referred to Toshi through several sources and it makes sense why. He was very prompt, knowledgeable on his craft, and offered great advice for our event. We were one of the couples impacted by Covid-19 and had to postpone. Like many of the couples, this meant piecing together a follow-up wedding in a short time frame. Not only was Toshi accommodating, but he was very understanding of our situation.
Moreover, Toshi made it clear he wanted to make our wedding day as least stressful as possible. This meant taking our calls on short notice, talking about the venue as he'd already worked there before and been recommended because of that, and then providing us detailed sheets so that we were organized on our song and style selections. Toshi's prompt responses kept us at ease as we were planning our event.
I have no doubt that Toshi will be a great partner to work with for your wedding and/or event, and I would highly recommend him and Spectrum Entertainment. -

Toshi and his crew were absolutely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. It was tough because we were a COVID couple, rescheduled our wedding multiple times. We are so glad he was available for our actual wedding day. He has a very informative consultation with you, gets to know you as a couple, and what you vision is like for your wedding. He is not only a DJ but also can be your emcee, and offers lighting and other technical rental stuff too. He was extremely helpful with helping us plan lighting around our event too, which I didn't even think about until he inquired about it. Most importantly, he is such a humble and down-to-earth guy. We had complete trust in him. And most impressive, was that I had created my own playlist of songs for our dinner reception, but instead of just playing straight from my playlist, he created a hybrid playlist with his own selections, and WOW I was blown away, it was even better than I could've ever created for myself. He is very well versed with music and we are so grateful he spent the time to get to know us so that everything media on our wedding day was just perfect. THANK YOU TOSHI for being the most amazing guy ever. He is a diamond in the rough, undiscovered gem, whatever you wanna call it, and super competitive pricing for the quality and professionalism of his work. Just hire him. You will definitely not regret it! -

Excellent, fantastic, superb, perfect, marvelous, wonderful - the list can go on and on and on!!! Toshi is the MAN!! From the moment we had our consultation over the phone with him for his DJ and emcee services, I was sold. He is so professional, knowledgeable, and organized, and he played a huge role in making our dream wedding come true!! We can't thank him enough for all his hard work, and for being so on top of things. He made sure we got exactly what we wanted on our special day - everything from the music to the uplighting to being an awesome emcee! He gives great recommendations and advice, too! My now-husband and I had never visited our venue and were planning our whole wedding from California. Toshi really helped us out by giving us firsthand info that we wouldn't have known otherwise. He is super responsive and helpful and always made sure to answer all of our questions.
At our wedding, he was so good at sensing the mood and energy of the crowd and we really appreciate all the hours of fun he provided us and our guests! You can tell he really enjoys what he does and takes pride in his work - it really shows!! He is such a genuinely nice person, too! Just as all the other glowing reviews state - we have nothing but good things to say about Spectrum Entertainment! If you're thinking about booking Toshi for your wedding or event - DO IT!! My fiance and I were blown away with Toshi. He kept our guests alive all night! Even the little kids with the "Baby Shark" song... lol. They absolutely LOVED that. I seriously don't think anyone else could have topped him. The way he lit up our venue with his lights.. OMG... sooo beautiful! We were scared that our outdoor venue (Paliku Gardens) wouldn't have enough light once the sun went down, but the way that he lit up the bushes/trees/tents was just gorgeous. He even lit up a few palm trees that "danced" to the beat to some songs! That was totally unexpected and super cool! We are soooo happy we chose Toshi and could not have asked for a better time. Thank you, Toshi! You rock! -

Toshi and Christian did an amazing job with our wedding I am so glad that they were a part of it. From the very beginning they were very easy to communicate with and very collaborative in understanding what type of music we wanted as well as offering options for uplighting and dance floor lighting which added a beautiful touch for the night! We really appreciated their attention to detail in making sure they were fully tuned in to the wedding day timeline and pronunciation of names for the bridal party/speeches/etc. They really thought of everything and also allowed space for us to give input to make the whole experience what we envisioned.
They fully exceeded expectations and Christian was an amazing emcee and kept the dance floor packed all night! Even some of the wait staff couldn't help put join in and some of the staff mentioned they're never seen the dance floor so consistently full the whole night! Several guests commented on how much they loved not just the dance floor music but also the cocktail hour & dinner tunes. There was a huge tree as a focal point over our reception area which looked gorgeous with the uplighting Spectrum provided and the lights for the dance floor made for a great atmosphere as well.
My husband is admittedly particular/hard to please when it comes to music and Spectrum team was accommodating and enthusiastic with any and all questions/requests made throughout the process. I could not recommend them highly enough!

My husband and I have nothing but great words for Toshi and Spectrum Entertainment! We are from Washington state and we had a destination wedding in Hawaii. We planned everything from Washington state. Our wedding was on January 16, 2019 at Paliku Gardens at Kualoa Ranch.
Communication: I had no issues with communication with Toshi. All communication with him was through facetime, phone call and email. I initially contacted him through Yelp and received an automatic response to my email that explained he would be out of the office and would have limited access to his email. He did provide a phone number in the email for people with urgent matters. With that said, once he was back in his office, Toshi eventually contacted me with a very detailed email. From then on, communication was effortless!
He provided a music template for my husband and I to fill out. The template was very helpful as it was used to prepare us for our facetime consultation with him. During our facetime consultation, we informed Toshi of some of the artists we like and the type of mood we were aiming for and with that, he was able to suggest other artists and music that really coincided with our vibe. My husband and I felt very comfortable trusting Toshi to make some music selections for our wedding.
Professionalism: Just like it states in another comment, Toshi was very professional but laid back, which, my husband and I loved! Toshi followed our timeline very well. He had it in his hands most of the time and I saw him referring to it a lot, which was great since our wedding coordinator was not very helpful in that area. Toshi did everything a DJ/MC should do plus more.
He really took care of us. I WANT TO SPECIFICALLY POINT OUT...during the start of dinnertime, our caterers brought our plate of food to our table. I was getting ready to eat but then my husband suggested we take group photos with everyone before they headed to the buffet line. I agreed but all I could think about was how all the flies were going to get on our food while we were away from it. About a minute later, I saw Toshi running down to our seats with two plates in his hands. I thought to myself, "Oh good, he is going to get some food for himself...but why he is running in the opposite direction of where the food is?" A couple seconds later, I turn around and see that he covered our food with the plates so that the bugs wouldn't get on them because he knew we were going to take group photos before eating!! My husband and I were so impressed by his gesture and appreciated the thoughtfulness so much. My husband and I kept talking about him the whole night and after the wedding, as well.
Lastly, I had a slideshow to play during dinner. I was told by Toshi that all I needed to bring was my slideshow on my own laptop and he would provide all of the wiring to connect my laptop to his projector. Turns out, according to my sister-in-law, the laptop I brought was not a laptop at all. The "tablet" that I brought did not have an HDMI connector, which presented a problem to Toshi but he told me not to worry and told me to continue enjoying my wedding. He told me he would figure it out. Somehow, Toshi and my sister-in-law worked their magic. I am not a tech person so from what my sister-in-law told me, it sounded pretty complicated but even if it was not, Toshi never made me feel worried even though my sister-in-law said that he was! For that, I thank you Toshi!! =)
Overall, my husband and I felt very taken care of. Also, after the wedding I found out that Toshi helped figure out some issues with our dessert table. The person who made my cake said she was very appreciative of Toshi's help. I do not know exactly what he helped out with but just knowing that our DJ helped out with a "dessert table issue," blew my mind. Toshi took pictures with us, partied with us and even danced with us a little. By the end of the night, he felt more like a friend to us than our DJ/MC/Wedding coordinator. -

Without a doubt, The Best!
Where do I even begin? If you're looking to book a DJ/MC/Lighting Extraordinaire look no further then Spectrum Entertainment! Music and dancing was one of my top priorities next to food for our wedding. I LOVE to dance, and was a little nervous about finding the right person who could meet my expectations. Spectrum Entertainment not only exceeded my expectations, but they were nothing short of pure perfection. We hired Spectrum to DJ our wedding in October 2018, and from the very beginning Toshi and Christian were incredible. We live in California, and so all of our planning happened over the phone. For you Type A brides (or grooms) like me, Spectrum is wonderful with communication, assisted tremendously with the wedding timeline, they sent us forms with tips and tricks, and ways to personalize our music and song list. They made sure that they pronounced everyone's name correctly, and they never took over; I always felt 100% supported during every step of the way. During the planning stages, Toshi and Christian made us feel comfortable and secure. They were both very professional, as well as warm and laidback. This helped to make part of the planning process fun.
WEDDING DAY!!! Christian was our DJ the day of the wedding, and I got to tell you, Christian, you da you DA BEST!!! The dance floor was always packed! Everyone from my 5 year old niece and nephews to my 70 year old parents were on the dance floor having the time of their lives! Before the dancing part of the night had even started, everything flowed together so nicely. From the ceremony music, to cocktail hour. They were even prepared for my 12 year old goddaughter's surprise hula for us...sneaky sneaky. When my cousins needed help plugging in their instruments to play music during our cocktail hour, they were there! I can't thank you enough! When we had to end the night, and music was supposed to be off, our guests remained on the dance floor shouting, "One more song! One more song!" and Christian agreed to play one more song for 30 seconds, and he did! All of us dancing our hearts out for the extra 30 seconds of the night. Something I will never forget!
I highly recommend you go with Spectrum Entertainment for any of your DJ/MC/uplighting needs. You will not be disappointed! -

Toshi and Spectrum are THE BEST!
Toshi and Spectrum were AWESOME! You won’t find a better DJ, MC, lighting and/or sound company for your wedding or any event. Toshi is extremely professional, but laidback and fun at the same time. Just what you want in the DJ, MC, lighting and sound company you work with for any event. Spectrum provided us with sound equipment for our ceremony and reception, lighting equipment that set the mood in the ballroom for the reception, as well as DJ and MC services.
Toshi will help you customize your package to select the services you want/need for your event. He was happy to help us coordinate getting a slideshow up at our wedding when we made the request 48hrs before the day of. We had asked for a simple projector just to show a picture slideshow, but he went above and beyond and brought his LED video board that was AMAZING behind the DJ table.
The lighting and sound equipment were great and definitely helped set the mood, but Toshi is the secret to this business. His charismatic laidback energy makes him THE PERFECT personality to DJ and/or MC weddings and other types of events. I cannot say how much we appreciate everything Toshi and Spectrum did to make our wedding day special. -

This cable company stinks! JUST KIDDING! Poor Toshi and Spectrum Entertainment now can get mistaken for the subpar cable company that tons of people have problems with. :(
Ever since the first day we met Toshi, we have had amazing things to say about him. I personally am more comfortable going with companies that have great communications skills and as much attention to detail that I have. He was very patient in answering all of my questions (trust me, there were alot) and understanding when having to explain something to me in more detail.
Our reception was outdoors at one of the Kualoa Ranch sites that has this beautiful monkeypod tree that I fell in love with. Spectrum Entertainment does uplighting and, lo and behold, in his portfolio, Toshi had THE tree and it looked magnificent. I honestly didn't even consider uplighting to be something we would look for in our DJ and even expected to hire a separate MC. He explained all the services that he provides and was willing to work with us on pricing while still ensuring that we understood the quality of sounds and lights that we would be paying for.
We had a few consultations with him (including an initial "interview" session) and he has the ability to make everyone around him feel comfortable. We seriously felt like we knew him forever and his personality had so many traits of our good friends that we swore we must have crossed paths with him one way or another. Other MC's we interviewed seemed to BE the center of attention and, although we are a couple that doesn't prefer the spotlight ourselves, we knew that that's not what we were looking for. Toshi explained (and executed) that he was NOT the center of attention or dominate the program and could make the program iself the focus if we weren't comfortable having it on us. That's exactly what he did. He worked with our planner and me on the timeline and carefully went through the pronunciations of each name. We had our grand entrance by boat and he timed our entrance perfectly with his announcements. His DJs handled editing and looping the music well and he followed the timeline exactly as it was written. The wedding party that had the itinerary commented how everything was perfect, down to the minute, and flowed very well together.
We were doing table pictures prior to the tables heading to the buffet line and in between pictures Toshi was running up to us with our glasses of water! How amazing is that kind of service?! He constantly checked up on us throughout the night to see if we needed anything. I mean, wow!! The weather slightly prevented the proper lighting for our trees (because of flooding) but Toshi explained to us what he did with the extra lights and where they were placed. I honestly wouldn't have noticed but he made sure that I was in the know at all times.
And if there was anything that people would bring up randomly these two weeks past the wedding, was the music. Toshi was very detailed in asking about music that I listed down and got a better idea by asking for a few samples of each. HE. NAILED. IT. The dance floor was packed from the time dancing started to the last song (about an hour and a half). I chose old school music for dancing but at one point I noticed the numbers of adults started dwindling slightly off the dance floor. Then he played this song that I've never even heard of (and didn't know how to dance to, HAHA!) and wanted to ask what that darn rap kind of music was... but then I noticed that all my nephews and nieces that were in elementary and high school came onto the dance floor! Seriously my jaw almost dropped because they were the "cool kids" that I didn't even expect to take any part in the reception, let alone dancing! From there he did a good mix of old school and today's hits that kept the littles AND the olds on the dance floor. Talk about knowing his sh*t.
I highly recommend Toshi and Spectrum Entertainment for any DJ/MC/uplighting/entertainment needs. It's times like these that I wish I was more of a party animal to give me reason to hire them again or more often in the future! -

Kelcie Sent on 03/18/2018Toshi is hands down the best DJ in the business. What’s even more amazing is that he can do sound, lighting, and will emcee your wedding as well! He was all set-up for our ceremony and made sure that we had microphones for our vows so that everyone could hear. He was great in making sure that he played the songs that we wanted for each part of the wedding! Toshi literally DID NOT MISS A BEAT! The lights that he set up for our wedding day were so beautiful! It really added to the overall look! So, instead of working with 2-3 different vendors, you strictly work with him which makes planning ten times easier. Toshi got people who don’t normally dance on the dance floor. It was amazing! He also is extremely knowledgeable in different aspects of wedding planning. Toshi is fun and easy going! I’m so glad we went with him! He was literally THE BEST!

Katie Sent on 11/28/2017Toshi is hands down the coolest dude EVER. I always wanted my wedding to be a party, and when we decided to have a smaller destination wedding I was worried we would lose the party atmosphere, but boy was I wrong!
I reached out to Toshi after reading the reviews on here, and I knew he must be awesome when I saw literally nothing negative. After I got my first response from him via email I knew he was the real deal. He knows the ins and outs of weddings and helped me so much on many wedding related questions before I ended up hiring a DOC. He could easily be a wedding planner as well. He's a jack of all trades and incredibly knowledgeable!
Yes, a DJ of this caliber is not cheap, but he was 100% worth every penny. He ended up doing the music for our ceremony and reception, and was also our emcee for the night. He did an amazing job at all three and in addition was the best hype man out there! He kept the room high energy all night, despite the fact we only had about 45 people. People were dancing all night! Not to mention he constantly checked in with my husband and I making sure we had everything we needed or wanted.
He gave such great advice, played all of the music we had requested (and then some), and truly set the tone for the whole evening. I loved all of my vendors, but we definitely had the most compliments on Toshi. My Dad wanted to be besties with him, and my husband's Nana commented so many times how fun and cool he was. We definitely saw him more as a friend than we did a vendor. He really cares about his job and goes way out of his way to make sure you feel the love.
The adjectives I'm using don't even do him justice, but just trust all of the reviews and hire Spectrum Entertainment for your wedding! You will have zero regrets. Thanks again, Toshi, you made our day unforgettable!

First, Alex and I are thrilled to be your very first gay-wedding. We were looking for someone cool and comfortable performing at our wedding, and you were delightful and thoughtful to work with. Also, major credits to you for having fun hosting and emceeing with our famous hostest-with-the-mostest drag queen performer Estee Longah.
Second, you beat-matched 2 very different songs (the Navy anthem vs. a Jess Glynne dance song) into a seamless transition from our entrance into our first-dance. That was awesome. The best part, you capped off the evening with that same Jess Glynne song as the last-dance. You used our theme song and made it memorable.
Third, you were able to accommodate all those requests from our friends and guests, hula dancers, and Estee Longah. You had prepared an awesome playlist based on our song preferences, yet you still played all of our requests from the 80s-90s-00s. (Yes, we grew up with Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys!)
Toshi, thank you again for being our DJ. We will highly recommend and refer future clients to you.

I just made a review on Awesome Weddings by Holli, who ruined our wedding. This review is for Spectrum and Toshi Nakasone - our second big disappointment on our wedding day.
Here is why:
1. Poor communication. I should of listened to the bad review on Yelp. It was impossible to get ahold of Toshi few days before the wedding. I was sure we were suppose to meet up on site during the wedding rehearsal. Me and my wedding coordinator emailed, texted and called Toshi but he was nowhere to be found 3 days before the wedding. I didn’t know if he just dumped us. Then, he finally called after my email saying that if he doesn’t get back to us, we will have to find another DJ/MC.
2. He could care less. My wedding coordinator created a 1 hour delay for the reception and consequently for the whole wedding program. Toshi didn’t care to let us know of this disaster and to make some changes ASAP. He said “it was not his responsibility”.
3. Boring and low mood wedding atmosphere. Instead of the promised upbeat, fun and high energy. He never interviewed us to get to know us, so he can connect with our guests.
4. Unprofessional. He couldn’t even get the names of our parents right, asking what their names were while we were sitting there at the sweetheart table.
5. Poor organisation. Although the program timeline was created together with Toshi, we never got the final discussion of the timeline before the wedding. And this was because Toshi was vacationing and impossible to get in touch with. My emails were not given proper attention, he just didn’t see the files attached at the end of the email. That’s why he wasn’t prepared on the wedding day.
6. Bad DJ. Was it so hard to follow simple instructions and start/stop the music on the exact time I previously provided? Our father-daughter and mother-son songs both stopped at the wrong time. Our first dance song started before we even started walking to the dance floor. I had to make a sign and get them start the song again when we were ready. The excuse? Toshi said that his assistant is trained to start the music right after his announcement.
7. Wrong hashtag. That was the “cherry on top”. How hard it is to again follow the previously provided instructions and read the hashtag right? Well he said the wrong hashtag and some of the photos were marked wrong by our guests. This kind of stuff just pisses you off.
8. Way too expensive for what you get. Our package cost us $2,800.
To make it fair though, there were good sides too:
1. Toshi Nakasone is a very good salesman. He made a great impression on us, so great that we cancelled other appointments with vendors and chose him. He even brought the littler gift to our first meeting. Also, we were impressed by so many good reviews on Wedding Wire and Yelp.
2. The sparkles effect looked good.
3. He admitted his faults, although for each and every point he had an excuse. However, his biggest excuse apparently was that our wedding was already ruined by our wedding coordinator, so his "little" faults here and there were "no biggie". Yeah, not know our parents names on the day of is a "no biggie"? He even offered a $1,000 discount, which we REFUSED to accept. There is nothing that can make it up to us.
All in all, Spectrum Entertainment by Toshi Nakasone is definitely NOT worth the money, especially as an MC.
