My husband and I hired Luz as our planner, caterer and florist for our wedding, this past August.

Decor and Rentals:
I had a lot of ideas and she was great at helping me sort them out and guiding me through the wedding planning process. I am Mexican and new i wanted Mexican food served during cocktail hour and dinner but i also didn't want a typical "Mexican theme" wedding theme. I love literature and wanted to incorporate that. And i wanted my bridal party to wear white. I like to describe our wedding as Zapata meets Shakespeare in a California garden. On Wedding Day Luz delivered! We were both so happy with the look and vibe. Tips for props: shop for your own and through out your planning meetings let Luz know what you have and she will give you ideas on where and when to use them. She will schedule a drop off with you and have everything neatly packed for you after your event. Or rent from her partnering vendors! She will coordinate drop of and pick up for you!

Flowers:
I bounced back and forth on flowers, colors and styles multiple times.Usually describing what i wanted with feelings and not so much colors. Every time she made note of what i liked and on or mock day blew me away. i also described what i wanted as our ceremony backdrop, showed her some photos and her team made it happen. Trust her process, she's an expert when it comes to wedding planning.

Food:
We absolutely loved all her food! To this day our guests are still raving about the "ceviche" and "birria" we had on the menu. My favorite: Vegan Enchiladas (and no I am not vegan).

Words can't express how amazing Luz was to work with! My husband and I live in Maryland, but because most of our family lives in CA we decided to have our wedding in LA. Needless to say I was super anxious about planning a wedding from the opposite side of the country... however, Luz could not have made the planning process easier or less stressful! She was wonderful and literally took care of everything for us. She took care of our flowers, tables, ceremony decorations, coordinating, catering... she literally did it all and the day was absolutely flawless. Her decor was amazing and her flower arrangements were to die for! She also did the flower arrangements for the bridal party-- stunning! My husband is Mexican, so we wanted traditional Mexican cuisine for our guests-- Luz's cooking was second best to only his mother :) She was also super flexible and worked with us so that his mother could provide one of his favorite dished- mole con pollo y tamales. I would highly recommend Luz's services. She was exceptional :)

Luz was absolutely AMAZING. My wedding was in May at the LA River Center and Gardens which Luz knows inside and out. Everything we asked for she did. The decorations were beautiful. We received so many compliments from our guests. She was also our caterer and everyone was so shocked on how delicious the food was. She exceeded our expectations and I definitely recommend her. She is a professional and I’m glad I hired her services for my wedding.

My wedding was in April. Luz and her team far exceeded our expectations. Luz was in charge of running the timeline, catering, and decorating the venue. The venue looked absolutely beautiful and the food was delicious. We received so many compliments from our guest on the food and the décor.

Luz and her staff did an absolutely amazing job with my wedding in November 2015 at the LA River Center. She went above and beyond and made sure our day was exactly how we had imagined. From the flowers, to the candles, to the timeline, everything was perfect. Wedding planning could be a stressful process for the bride and groom but we had all our trust in Luz and she made the process a lot easier and more manageable. I recommend Luz for any major event planning she truly is a professional in her field.

My husband and I were recently married at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens in Los Angeles. Upon booking our venue, we were pleased to be refered to Luz Pencyla. I am soooooo glad that we made the decision to book with Luz and her team as our wedding was beyon beautiful and FLAWLESS!!!! I mean, every bride expects for something to go wrong or not work out on the wedding day, but Luz was on it! Not a SINGLE thing was not to my liking or not done on time. From the moment I had contacted Luz, she was always very pleasant and professional. She would follow up with any emails or questions we had asked from questions about the food, alcohol, floral, etc. Her company provided all floral for both ceremony and reception, rentals, linens, dinnerware, bar service, cocktail hour, day of cooridination, service and wait staff, and day before rehersal meeting. We went with her caterer for our food and did a buffet and all of our guests complimented on how great the food tasted for the wedding. We went with prime rib, teriyake chicken and grilled salmon. We even did a late night snack Taco Bar thru her company which was a real crowd pleaser! Her prices are very fair for what you get. And you will not be disappointed! The ceremony area was just as we had planned, and the reception area looked like something from out of a fairytale! She pays great attention to detail. She came the day of the wedding and provided day of coordinating and stayed thru the entire event to make sure everything went off without a hitch. Her staff were all pleasant and smiled and at the end of the night they did all tear down and clean up. Another plus was everything we took to the event came back home in perfect shape. Nothing was lost or stolen (which is a huge plus as I have been to friends weddings where things have "disappeared") She runs a very honest business and my husband and I have nothing but great things to say. We both highly recommend Special Events By Luz!

I don't even know where to start. I knew Luz was the perfect fit for us the moment i met her. We started planning our wedding over a year ago and she was with us every step of the way, extremely flexible since we changed our mind several times even helped us get more for our money in terms of our decorations and flowers. Luz handled everything from the flowers, to the ceremony, reception, cocktail hour and catering. We had Mexican food for our reception and lets just say no one walked away hungry, the food honestly was fantastic and the best wedding food i have ever had. She handled lots of little details just how we wanted them! i would recommend Luz to any bride! I promise you will be in good hands. Luz, I couldn't have dreamt it any better! You nailed it! If there is a way to add photos i would love for everyone to see your work!

Luz Pencyla was incredible to work with. She is extremely talented at what she does and met with us numerous times to make sure that we were getting exactly what we wanted. The food was excellent and so much better than banquet food we've had at other events (we did a sit down, served dinner). She really took care of everything for us; the food, the bar, the flowers, and we couldn't have been happier with the final result. Her team was responsive and very friendly. Additionally on the day of the wedding, Luz coordinated everything so that we really didn't have to do anything or follow up with any details. With Luz's help we ended up with an incredible day that fulfilled all we hoped for. We couldn't sing Luz's praises any more. She is the best and a joy to work with.

We started planning our wedding (set for next year) shortly after we got engaged due to the venue we wanted being in high demand. Fortunately, we were able to book a date. Through the venue, we were referred to Luz and I have to say she is amazing. She is not only going to take care of the catering aspect of our wedding, but she will also be re-creating a table setting (complete with table decorations and flowers) that I found on Pinterest and fell in love with. We have an appointment with her in the next few months where she will set up a table the way we wanted and show us; this will ensure that the day of our wedding our decorations look the way we want them to. She is very easy to talk to, very nice, and if you text or call her she gets back to you asap. In terms of food, we had a food tasting scheduled and it all of the food was great! We were able to come up with our buffet-style selections and a few extras. The pricing was very fair. Definitely recommend her.

It has certainly taken me longer than I wanted to write this review due to our living adjustments after our wedding day but, I definitely wanted to give Luz credit for making our day as magical as we hoped for. Our wedding day was a little over three months ago at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens (LARC). Our engagement was 9 months long so my time of planning was limited considering I was also working full time and finishing my master’s program. When we decided to book LARC I was referred to Luz Pencyla as a preferred vendor. Looking back at my experience with Luz, I would describe her as reliable, consistent with her promises, goes above and beyond and very well experienced in her line of work. Luz Pencyla and Staff made our day a dream come true. She followed through with every promise, remained in constant communication with us, provided us with exceptional service and staff members and was on time with every order we made with her from ceremonial flowers, reception setup, cocktail appetizers, and everything else you can imagine. For every idea I had about our wedding day vision, Luz had a way of making it even more amazing and for every detail I added Luz managed to make it work. On the day of the wedding, my nerves got the best of me and I started to worry about every little thing. Luz reassured us that although some things did not look ready, they would be done by the time she promised. And just as she promised, it was all done and setup in time for our guests to enjoy. Being that my husband and I paid for our wedding, we were especially mindful of where every penny we spent. With that in mind, Luz Pencyla was worth every penny and dime. Her prices were a little high for our wedding budget but as they say, you get what you pay for. I highly recommend Luz Pencyla and her amazing staff for your wedding day!

We tied the knot on May 24, 2014 at LA RIVER GARDENS. Leading up the wedding was quite stressful, as there were so many things to do. I have a quite busy schedule so it was nice to have Luz Pencyla help with the DAY OF coordination. I met with her 3 weeks prior to the wedding for the last minute details. Since I am always tied up at work, I had prepared a word file of what I wanted for my wedding. Over a cup of coffee, my sister and I reviewed the file with Luz Pencyla and her assistant. I had a wonderful vision in my mind, but honestly did not have the time to really do much research to ensure it got carried out. Honestly, Luz Pencyla did a wonderful job at bringing my vision to life. She is very efficient – which is my style. As we went over all the details ie: which linens, flower arrangements, candy table set up, greeting table, sitting chart, cocktail hour, she provided her input and I just went with it. I am glad I did --as everything that I had imagined came to life that day—and actually looked better than what I had envisioned.
I had two themes, Mexican-theme for the cocktail hour, and all white and elegant for the dinner. Our decorations were fabulous. Luz was also timely and cordial to our guests. Very professional. Anything that was not part of the package, she let me know the cost ahead of time, so there were no surprise charges. We also had tacos for an after dinner snack and they were delicious. Better than some of the best street tacos. Luz, her assistant, and staff also took care of us. We love to dance so we never left the dance floor. Luz even brought my new husband tacos and cake out to the dance floor to make sure he ate. Her assistant also fixed my dress and kept making sure I was comfortable. I did provide a lot of details to add to the decorations : ie chalkboards, pictures, some succulent plants. Everything I gave her she packaged up and returned to me at the end of the night. She has our highest recommendations

Highly recommend Luz pencyla!! We were extremely impressed by her quality of work. She did our ceremony set up which it was a dream and so beautiful all in white. And our reception flowers, candy station and bouquets etc. It was a fairy tale wedding and everything was so perfect and beautiful. We are extremely thankful to her staff and love her work. We came across Luz Pencyla by our venue area at Los Angeles River Center. They gave us a listing of various catering companies. We went to 2 sampling and Luz was our last one on the list. First impression of Luz was very welcoming and kind hearted!! We told her that we wanted have Mexican authentic food!!! I told her that I wanted to have mint rice on the menu too. When we met her for the sampling of the food. My jaw drop to the floor... Their was so much food and it tasted to delicious!!! She even made the mint rice that I requested. It didn't come out the way how it should have been, but she didn't forget about my request. :)
She told us to be honest with her about her food and we did give her feed-back.. We loved it!!!
If any of you love ceviche cocktail, Luz and her team make the best ceviche!!!!
I sent her an email about a few months ago after we had our food tasting that I would love if she can save us some ceviche that she served during cocktail hour. Keep in mind this was about 4 or 8 months back prior to the big day. On our wedding day, Luz had one of her people come to us and brought us some chips and ceviche!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was like wow!!! She is awesome... That says a lot about LUZ... All of our guest including us loved the food. Everyone was pleased and left home with a happy belly..
She also helped me out on the flower venue decoration. She is a one stop shop!!! When we met to go over the colors for the wedding. I had already previously chatted with her what colors I want and also the kind of flowers I wanted too... I fell in-love with the selection she brought with her. Ladies, if you want a certain look, definitely bring pictures and share your thoughts and ideas with your wedding coordinator. It worked with me and Luz. :) She did such a beautiful job on the flower arrangements.
She also helped me with wedding decoration ideas too!!!! :) She has beautiful and creative ideas..

Where do I start when it comes to Luz - she was AMAZING. She listened to what I wanted, made sure my vision was exactly what she put front, and took everyones breath away. She is very detailed oriented and has the magic touch. My wedding flowers were out of this world. Everyone said it looked like a fairytale wedding. There was nothing she did that I did not like. Luz is in one word- Amazing! She is very professional, gets down to the nitty gritty and is perfect at what she does. Luz not only knows how to make a beautiful wedding but she is acommodating and worked with me in tayloring my package to fit my needs at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens. She made my wedding beyond beautiful and my food was awesome. All my guest complimented how lovely everything turned out and that they actually enjoyed their food! She stayed behind the scenes and worked diligently to keep things running smoothly. She even saved me when my ridiculous florist forgot to bring my ceremony arch! She magically did something creative with the flowers they did deliver for the arch and saved the day. I ended up even liking her arch decoration better! She truly knows how to do her job and run her business. She is an expert and I cannot thank her enough for all the " behind the scene saves" she did for me on my wedding day. She is amazing! Hire her!

Fantastic!!! Luz was sooo easy to work with and her prices were so reasonable. She was very flexible, prompt and responsive! I felt so comfortable with having her in charge all the rentals, decor, and staff and trusted she would do a beautiful job, as she did!!!
She was there the whole time on the day of my wedding making sure everything was going well.
She is an absolute team player and worked so well with my amazing wedding planner (Stacy Porras) and caterer (who was a bit more challenging to work with).

Luz was recommended to us by our venue's coordinator because she's worked plenty of times at our venue.

When meeting with Luz we were convinced that she would be a great help in organizing and facilitating our wedding. She provided day of coordination, all floral arrangements, serving staff, bartenders, linens, tableware, and table/chair rentals. A couple of months prior to the wedding Luz called a meeting where she would show us a 'sample' table setting for the day of. She went out of her way to show us two different designs to make sure we got what we wanted.

Her experience in the field of planning was evident the day of when she directed her staff and paid attention to every detail from the itinerary we set with her several weeks before the wedding. Our flower bouquets were delivered to our hotel on time and beautifully made. She even provided a couple extra boutonniere's for the groomsmen and parents. At the wedding reception site, Luz and her staff took care of set up and breakdown, she even decorated our plain white tiered cake with fresh flowers to match the centerpieces. She executed everything so well.

When the venue's staff failed in providing the heaters for the evening, she took care of it by researching the communication between parties and not letting me get worried. Also, when my husband stained his tie with food, her staff rushed to clean it with their 'emergency cleaning kit.' With Luz's help, our entire family and wedding party got to enjoy the reception as guests.

In looking back our wedding was truly dream like and better than any dream I could make up, all because of Luz's help and ideas. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Luz to any engaged couple! Thank you Luz!!!

The best decision I ever made in the whole wedding planning was hiring Luz Pencyla. She took my flowers & decor, catering, and rentals to levels I only dreamed of, but thought I never could afford. Luz is extremely affordable and no matter what your budget she will create a spectacular event for you. She did all the legwork for me. I only had to choose colors. Her suggestions are wonderful and she has incredible taste which made it so easy to trust her. When I saw my ceremony and reception I wanted to cry, because of the beauty. She is super hardworking and so is her staff. My family and friends raved about the chicken marsala & barbacoa we served and were stunned by the beauty of my venue's decorations. It was truly enchanting. Her staff are very courteous and polite, very helpful and willing to go above and beyond. What a breath of fresh air Luz Pencyla and her team were. She made my wedding everything I dreamed of, but MORE. Like I said, she was the best investment I made.

My husband and I got married at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens on March 19, 2011. We had the best venue and the absolute best coordinator in the world. Working with Luz was fun, easy, and very affordable. What most impressed me about Luz is that she really enjoys what she does; it's more than a career for her, it's a passion, and it shows in her work. You won't be dissappointed at all. LUZ IS THE BEST!!! Our wedding was perfect. It was so organized, fun, and enjoyable. Guests are still talking about how beautiful it all was. She handled everything: she has her own catering company, rentals, decorations, and flowers. The ceremony, the decorations, and the food were perfect. We didn't have to worry about anything. It was the best day of our lives and we remember everything because she allowed us to actually enjoy the event. We highly highly recommend Special Events by Luz Pencyla.

We got married at the LA River Center & Gardens, and their staff mentioned Luz to us. We were so glad they did! Believe the full-on five star ratings you see here - Luz is wonderful. We were having food catered by an Indian restaurant, but we needed rentals, as well as staff to serve the food and coordinate the event. Luz provided all of the day-of coordination, but she was so much more than a day-of coordinator. She met with me and my fiance several times, and walked through the site with my mom beforehand to plan decorations. She also provided helpful spreadsheets for planning the flow of the event. On the day of, she was so nice about helping my mom decorate, and went with the flow when my mom had, um, strong opinions :-) She also provided bartenders who handled signature cocktails according to our requests along with beer and wine - they were fantastic. And her staff were kind, helpful, and made the event seamless. We had a complicated wedding with many moving parts (several ceremonies, separate alcohol, food and cake vendors, homemade decorations) and she supported all of them flawlessly. Thank you, Luz!

We met Luz at a brides night at The Los Angeles River and Garden Center. I was really impressed with the variety in her table presentations. So we set up a food tasting appointment with my then fiancé, mom and maid of honor. The food was delicious my husband defiantly approved. We decided on the Chicken Florentine and Barbacoa de res, both were juicy and favorable. Guest later confessed that they went up for seconds one even admitted to thirds. She also recommended a cake vendor who provided the most delicious moist cake with the best filling I have ever tasted.
Luz is absolutely passionate about her career; she attends conferences to learn more and stay current (which I don’t think she needs). She really tries to get to know your sense of style, colors, types of flowers, tall or short arrangements, and any other likes and dislikes. She is very flexible and made suggestions when I was unsure of what I wanted. I emailed her a picture (2 weeks before the wedding) of way I wanted the flower arrangement to look on our sweetheart table. She went above and beyond my expectations. My family is big on real flowers (so am I) and they and I absolutely loved the flower arrangements, she captured the perfect height and fullness with the hydrangeas and romance with the roses which blended beautifully with the small lilies and green hypericum berries.
During the cocktail hour, Luz and her staff were amazing at keeping our guest in the cocktail area and did a terrific job of seating everyone. With a big Latino family sometimes you get big personalities that don’t want to abide by the seating chart, I heard that Luz did an amazing job of staying professional and seating everyone according to the chart that I created. She kept us on track and was very accommodating to my husband and I.

I cannot say enough good things about Special Events by Luz Pencyla. Luz and her staff went up above and beyond to make our wedding more beautiful and amazing than we could ever imagine. You will not find anyone else in L.A. or Orange County who offers the same service and quality for the price.

We got married at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens on July 9th, 2010 and worked with Luz for over half a year to plan for our wedding. First, the food is the BEST! We went with Mexican dishes, including Carnitas de Puerco and Chicken Chipotle. Our guests were blown away by the delicious food and we had so many compliments. Our guest also could not believe how beautiful EVERYTHING looked! Fresh colorful flowers everywhere you turn included in the price. Our tables looked picture perfect with lovely orange lanterns that we added to the center of flower centerpieces. The cocktail hour area, ceremony area, reception area and everywhere else looked like an "enchanted forrest" as our photographer put it.

Whatever your vision or taste is, Luz really listens to what you want and she made sure everything was exactly as we had discussed. She was a wonderful coordinator and event planner to work with. We are still getting all kinds of positive feedback from our guests. They were just blown away at how stellar everything looked. Her staff was so attentive to our guests and looked so professional. My husband, family and I are so grateful to Luz and her company for making our wedding day the happiest day of our life! No one else we considered compared to the amount of service offered by this vendor. Thank you to Luz!!

Thanks to Luz Pencyla and her team of professional staff, she created the fairytale wedding that i've always dreamed of! From the first moment we met, I knew that she was the one who would be able to realize my vision for our wedding. She knew exactly what I wanted and paid very close attention to the smallest of details. She made the planning so easy for us, we never had to worry about anything. In fact she provided us a with a budget breakdown and itinerary so we could design our day as we wanted. The day of our wedding everything ran smoothly, the food was amazing and she even went the extra mile for us. Our special day was brought to life thanks to Special Events by Luz Pencyla. My husband and I had a wonderful, pleasant and easy experience with Luz; she made sure that she captured every little detail I requested. She went beyond during meetings and table settings. My husband and I are very lucky to have found Mrs. Pencyla, since the first time we met her we knew she was exactly the person that we were looking for. She is a very kind lady, very professional and understanding. We got married at Dove Canyon Courtyard in Trabuco Canyon, Ca. I was one of those brides who thought I would be able to do everything by my self, but only 3 months away from our wedding date I only had my wedding dress ordered and the location. Luz was highly recommended by a friend who was a guest at one of Luz's weddings and was amazed by her work. The moment we meet with her we knew she was the right person for us. She was so attentive at all our needs, and her ideas are really one of a kind. Not only did she explained everything to us but also made a beatiful set up for us. We used Luz for everything catering,cake, tables, chairs, linens, flowers, and everything else you need for a wedding. The moment we walked in we were just so amazed! Her extraordinary work was just perfect!!! Luz did so many extra things and transformed the place into an astounding place!!! Everyone mentioned on her exceptional work. We have been married for just a little over a year and guest still talk about our wedding and how breath taking it was. My daughter was getting married in California, daughter lived in Texas, and I lived in Florida. Given this scenario, I thought organizing my daugher's wedding was going to be a mission. But I was so FORTUNATE to chose Luz and I could not have done this without her expertise and her detail to perfection. She alwasy very responsiveness to my emails and phone calls, flexible in meeting with me when I flew in to California, and her ideas were always RIGHT ON! I used Luz not only for catering, but tables, chairs, arch, flowers, etc. Anything you need for a wedding, I can assure you she can make it happen. On the wedding day, I could not tell you how HAPPY my daughter and son-in-law were to see their special day come true just the way they had hoped. It was truly a magical evening that would not happen without Luz and her professional staff. Her costs are very affordable (and I did check around) and you will be very, very, happy with the outcome.

Working with Luz was a great experience for us, she was so easy to work with, and very flexable, she worked wonders with the small budget that we had. Luz is very creative and very up to date with today's wedding styles. She did such a great job on all the bouquets and boutonnieres, she listened to every word I said and created exactly what I wanted. She was able to transform the senior center in which our reception was held in to sheer elegance. When my husband and I walked in to the room we were so taken a back with the beauty of everything, the flowers were amazing, the linens and chair covers looked so beautiful and the set up of our sweetheart table looked like it was out of a magazine. Our family and friends talked about the decor at our wedding for weeks, they couldn't believe that there were so many roses of the same color in one room, we had over 20 tables! Luz picked up on our personalities and our visions and truly created the wedding of our dreams!

We loved working with Luz. Her large network of vendors allows her to give couples reasonable prices – especially for our flowers, for which we paid a fraction of what others quoted us. Her extensive experience in the wedding industry allows her to be an effective one-stop-shop who can execute truly any vision a couple wants. Our style was a lot different than many of the examples of other weddings she’d worked on, but she is really flexible and can recreate any photo you provide her flawlessly. Everything on our wedding day looked absolutely perfect – she ended up being one of our very best vendors. My tips on working with Luz: text or call her (rather than email), be specific about what you want, and trust the process. She gets in touch at key moments and knows when she needs to be in contact with you. In summary, Luz is a very talented and knowledgeable professional (and I’ve heard she makes wonderful food as well). As she says – she’s in the business of making dreams come true. I wasn't sure if we need a wedding planner for the day of our wedding, but I'm sure glad we hired Luz to help us out the day of our wedding. She provided the catering, the flowers for the church and centerpieces, linen, glass, tables, chairs, bartender and staff. Our wedding day ran smooth and everyone had a amazing time. The only thing that was missing which is not a big deal, was the flower pillow she was suppose to provide for my ring bear to carry down the aisle. Other than that, everything turned out beautiful and I was amazed on how much work she did to get the venue set up in time to receive our guest and made sure to have the venue clean up in order for us to get our deposit back. Luz was absolutely wonderful. She was extremely helpful in bringing my ideas to fruition. I made the mistake of hiring another florist and he just could not do what I was asking of him so fortunately I was able to fire him before the wedding and Luz came to the rescue with absolutely beautiful centerpieces and ceremony arrangements. Everyone commented on just how beautiful everything looked. Her staff was very polite and accomodating. They even held my garter for me when I was having issues with it falling down my leg!! The food was very good but the portions were a little mismatched from plate to plate. Don't be afraid to have a menu in mind even if it's not on her list; her chef can pretty much make anything! Oh and ask about the "Taco Lady", it was a great surprise to my guests at the end of of the night and they were delicious! To be honest a bride can never feel completely at ease at her own wedding because she's always worried about everything going just right, but once I knew that Luz really had everything under control I was able to enjoy the whole night without any worries.

Luz is a knowledgeable and passionate coordinator! She works hard to bring your vision to life while working within your budget. Luz was our all inclusive package and boy oh boy are we grateful for that decision. The day of the wedding Luz was attentive and helped to keep everything under control . Although we had our moment of that ONE thing that goes wrong , she was understanding and provided us a refund. We were very fortunate to have a coordinator that was seasoned working with our venue ( LA River Center and Gardens.) I would consider myself an extremely visual person and when it came to flowers it was very hard for me to decide which arrangements worked best for our big day. Luz made herself available to redo my center pieces not only once , but three times before I settled on a final decision. If you have any doubts or want a specific thing changed she is flexible and willing to work with you . Overall, Luz is a great person who loves the wedding world .

Luz was a preferred catering vendor at our venue the LA River Center and Gardens. Originally, we went with Luz because she was specialized in Mexican Catering, which is what we wanted for our wedding. But when we started working with Luz and outlining the vision for our wedding we quickly realized why she was a preferred vendor. The main goal of our wedding was not to have our wedding guests work or be involved in any of the set up break down etc. We wanted them to just enjoy. Because Luz and her team did almost everything as it related to our wedding we didn't have to worry about multiple vendors or a la carte services. Luz and her team did everything and did it wonderfully! She really will do whatever style of wedding you want and make sure its exactly as your vision. Don't be fooled or "nervous" by the style of pictures she presents on her website, that's just the style a lot of her clients go for, but I had a much more laid back wedding and she did it exactly as I asked. I didn't feel I had to micromanage the process as much because I trusted Luz and her team. I also didn't want a lot of the traditional wedding stuff and Luz was said not a problem. She really was so wonderful. If I ever needed to have another large party I would totally work with her again. She is worth it. I never worried about a single thing. The day of the wedding her crew was so attentive and all of my guests felt taken care of! It was exactly as we asked for. Package options aren't for everyone, but if you really don't want to have the hassle of multiple vendors, multiple worries and multiple checklists its something to consider. Luz, if you are reading this, you were the best and we cant thank you enough!

Luz was a bit hard to reach at times but she really came through and gave us an absolutely perfect wedding. She executed our vision to perfection and made sure that I was not stressed or dealing with any of the normal hiccups the day-of. We had a bi-cultural wedding (I'm Mexican and my husband is white and from the East Coast) and she made sure to really work with us to make everybody feel included and welcomed. My husband's family loved the chiles rellenos we served and all the traditional Mexican elements Luz helped us incorporate.

My husband and I got married at the Los Angeles River Center on Oct 1, 2011 and one of the best decisions we made was to hire Luz and her team. We were on a budget but decided we needed a coordinator to help us the day off, so we could truly enjoy ourselves the day of the wedding. Wel,l sure enough Luz provided much more then just the day off services, she guided us through the planning, made excellent suggestions, and made us feel comfortable. I have nothing but good things to say about Luz, she took our wedding to a whole new level. I still cant believe how beautiful everything turned out. We not only had a wonderful coordinator we felt as if we gained a friend through out the whole experience. One specific example is that i lost the back of my earing and as soon as Luz found out, with our hesitation she gave me hers. If that is not excellent service, i don't know what is!

While Luz did coordinate an amazing wedding for us there were many things that I looked back at and was severely disappointed. As a florist my centerpieces were amazing! My bouquets unfortunately were horrible and not at all what I asked for even though I went to her twice to have my flower samples. For what we paid for our bouquets I could've made the same thing from Traders Joes flowers. Our centerpieces on the other hand where extravagant (the bouquets were supposed to match...)!! Another thing that really disappointed me was that the cups that were used for the beer were the red plastic cups you see at BBQs! Completely tacky to see everyone holding red cups in photos and sitting around on the tables. May as well just give them the beer bottle instead. Luz isn't very responsive through email. My mom would send numerous emails and not hear back from her until we would have to call and track her down. Another disappointment was as a day of coordinator I would expect the coordinator to be around during photos to make sure everyone looked ok and stayed in place. I missed out on many group family photos since I didn't have the help, and my MOH was in the pics so she couldn't go wrangle people. Overall Luz's prices are reasonable and it's great that she's done so many weddings at LA River Center and Gardens so she knows exactly how things should be done. It was also nice to be able to go to one person for everything and not have to locate a ton of different vendors. Overall it was a pleasure to work with Luz, I just wish a little more attention to certain things had been paid on the day of.

Luz Pencyla scammed my husband and I

If I could give negative 100 stars, I would this nada is a scammer. We hired luz to do our wedding on May 2018. Our wedding was scheduled for July 27, 2019. We chose a venue and signed a contract and within a week from meeting her we sent her $4,500 which she assured us was for the venue. We agreed that I could send her money however often I wanted as long as half of the total was paid off by January 2019. My husband and I met with her every couple of months and paid her the total a month before our wedding, just like it was stated in the contract. We paid her a total of $16,030. On July 25,2019 at around 4:30pm (2 days before my wedding) Luz Pencyla calls me and tells my husband and I that we have to pay her $7,000 more as a “loan”. She said she used all her money on a family emergency in Mexico and did not have enough money to cover the funds for our wedding. When asked she never told us what her family emergency was. In fact in the months leading up to our wedding she was hardly available to answer my calls and concerns calming she was in Mexico, and from her Instagram she showed trips from Mexico but they all seemed like trips for leisure and fun.

So two days before my wedding she tells me that she needs $2,000 that
evening (on Thursday night) to pay the flowers and $5,000 to finish paying the venue or there would be no wedding. My husband and I had already paid her the COMPLETE TOTAL which included dj, photographer, catering, 2 bartenders, servers, and decorations. Upon talking to all the vendors on Thursday night (2 days before the wedding) my husband and I discovered that none of the vendors had been paid and the venue had only received a deposit in May 2018 when we hired her. My husband and I were heart broken and devastated to the point where we wanted to cancel our wedding, we couldn’t believe that we had been scammed and the day we had been dreaming of for over a year would not happen because of Luz Pencyla.

We decided to continue with the wedding and managed to get the $5,200 that was owed to the venue which we paid directly to the owner of the venue (luz insisted we give her the money but we did not trust her after what she did). Luz would talk in a very demanding and disrespectful way to my husband and I, I think because we are young, she felt like she could talk down to us. Therefore we got our family involved, to my parents she would talk to in a different tone. After many extortion phone calls from luz and involvement from our family members Luz agreed that she would find the money to cover the flowers and she promised the event would run as stated in the contract. On the day of my wedding I received old, wilted flowers in my bouquets which did not look like what she had promised me. Luz promised that her or her assistant would be at the venue to run the event, but upon our arrival we discovered that there was no one from her team present. Not her, the assistant, the 2 bartenders or the servers (which was all included in the contract that we signed and paid her in full). The center pieces and the decorations were not like the examples she had shown me and nothing was set up like she had promised me. Instead of crying tears of joy on my wedding day I was crying tears of frustration, anger and embarrassment. My husband and I were livid and devastated. We called her many times and she never answered our phone calls.

Luckily the dj and his wife (which had not been paid by luz) agreed to host the event and carry with the timeline. Our family and friends helped serve the food and drinks. Even my husband was behind the bar serving drinks at his own wedding. At the end of the event our family cleaned up the venue and made sure everything was taken care of. With the help or our family and friends we were able to get through the night and eventually enjoy it.

The emotional distress and extortion that Luz did to us will forever scar us.
Now instead of thinking about the happiest day of my life I feel anger, frustration and embarrassment because my husband and I were scammed by Luz Pencyla, she ruined our wedding day. She promised that she would pay us back our money with interest, but we have not been able to get ahold of her and there’s a chance that we never will. Therefore I will make sure that people know what Maria de La Luz Pencyla (that’s her real name) did to my husband and I.

Horrible experience! Do not trust her!

No stars deserved! Luz still owes me over $4k and has yet to pay me back despite multiple attempts to contact her. She is not trustworthy and will make your event into a nightmare! Do yourself a favor and Do NOT give her any business. You will regret working with her. It seems to be a great deal, but she ends up ripping you off and stealing your money. Luz should not be operating a business. Horrible service and shady business!

I very seldom write bad reviews, but if I could give Luz negative stars I would.

Of all of our 14 vendors for our complete DIY outdoor wedding (The venue only provided the grounds and nothing else), Luz was by far my worst and the only one that gave me wedding planning nightmares. Luz was forced on me by my venue, the LA River Center and Gardens. In order to bring in an outside catering company that was not on their preferred list, I had to use Luz as the venue's preferred rental company for my tables and chairs.

// PRICES // Everything was about money for Luz. She also runs a Mexican food restaurant which she does all her credit card transactions through and she will try to convince you to also you use her for catering services, floral services, and anything else wedding related to make money. She gave me an incredibly unreasonable quote for tables and chairs because she knew I was stuck with her through my venue. When I told her the price was triple what other very reputable rental companies were quoting me, she would try to "negotiate" with me by giving me a slightly lower price, but demanding FULL payment for our entire contract 6-9 months prior to the wedding. She would give me less than 24 hours to decide if I wanted to shell out our entire payment, thousands of dollars, nearly a year before our wedding.

// PROFESSIONALISM & ACCOUNTABILITY // Luz is the most unprofessional wedding vendor or businessperson I have ever met. Multiple emails, phone calls, text messages will go unanswered. When my coordinator or other vendors tried to contact her, she would ignore all phone calls, even after we left her so many voicemails, her "inbox would be full". The only time Luz would return my phone calls is if it was regarding a payment I was planning on making. If she saw $$$, she would reply as soon as possible.

Worse experience ever! Luz is a thief! She is very unprofessional. We have a contract with her for our daughters birthday party coming up very soon. I have been trying to get in contact via phone and texts for months and still no answers from her. She took our daughters money what kind of person would do this to a child? I would not recommend her to anyone! If she can scam a child what makes you think she wont do it to you?!
