John was the most responsive DJ that we had contacted and we were very pleased with him. I was a little nervous at first for two reasons: lack of wedding wire reviews (he only recently joined the site) and him being sole proprietor. He was super easy to speak with and has a really easy-going personality so we meshed well.
Since he's a one-man-show, his prices are more reasonable than the big DJ companies, he owns his own equipment (and backup equipment), and you can be confident that the guy you communicate with through the entire process will be the guy who is at your wedding (a great peace of mind). I worried about a backup DJ in case something happened, but John told me that he is part of a DJ network that he could tap into in a pinch, so you will still have a DJ at your wedding no matter what.
He was able to download a few songs that we had requested ahead of time, and on the night of the wedding he continued to take requests from people (with the capability of downloading more songs if he didn't have them on hand). Awesome! People were dancing all night. Only a couple of people (who weren't dancing) told me that they thought some music that was played later in the evening was inappropriate. I probably would have crossed out some of the current radio hits from the music "hit list" we provided if they were on there (e.g. Iggy Azalea or Nicki Minaj type of music). Not a big deal, though, since other people were still dancing & having fun.
The (upgraded) disco-esque lights he provided were great (we had the ring bearer chasing them all night! Hilarious!) and he transitioned between our outside cocktail hour to inside reception nearly seamlessly and with a threat of rain. For working solo, he did a really great job and not only would I recommend him, but if I were to need a DJ again, I'd totally rehire him!

Yes, it was nice that the rain held off and the cocktail hour went off without a hitch, despite the strong breeze. They do a really nice job at Belhurst too.
My apologies for any songs I played that weren't shown on the Hit List. I try to keep it as up to date as possible but it's not easy with so many popular new songs coming out every week. The songs you mentioned were requests from your guests and I do my best to find "radio play" versions whenever possible, or play them later in the evening. LOL, So glad JW had fun with the lights. He was so cute out there on the dance floor.
